what pisses me off the most either in other ships comparisons to narusasu or other ships stealing their moments is that narusasu isn’t just it. moments and tropes out of the context lose their strength because it’s not just a bunch of tropes that make narusasu narusasu, it’s the whole package. you have to include the context, you have to include the love story that is not accepted by society, with so many external forces separating the individuals, you have to include the loneliness and desire to reach for the other and find comfort in the other, you have to include the complex feelings of admiration that are mixed with jealousy and mistaken for a rivalry, you have to include the way they are destined to meet and fight and yet they defy destiny, you have to include the honest and very real struggle to define a gay relationship. you can have a scene of a ship in which one saves the other, you can even have one of them saying “my body moved on its own” but it will never have 1/100000000 of the emotional impact land of waves has because it’s not only about saving someone instinctively, it’s about relinquishing your life goal, the thing you’ve lived for and been obsessed with for years because of a person who got closer to your heart. childhood friends, rivals, yin and yang, sun and moon, complimentary colours, visuals etc are just an extra, they are narusasu but they don’t give narusasu its meaning, they just add colour to a much more complex relationship and any other ship people try to compare or steal moments from lacks the complexity and emotional baggage.

I'm so obsessed with Sakura and Sai as a concept because you know Sakura is the most affectionate person. She tells her friends she loves them nonstop and holds their hands and jumps on their back without warning and likes to cuddle and picks them up all the time. And Sai loves her even if he doesn't really know that means or how to go about it so he just lets her do whatever she wants. If she wants a piggyback? Sure he doesn't get it but he'll carry her. If she wants to hold his hand she can do that. The first time he takes her hand without prompting she almost cries.

But it kinda messes him up because he just kinda assumes that's what he should do and then he Also becomes the type to tell people he just met he loves them.

Basically? Sai is just a limp little beanstalk and lets Sakura hang off him like a koala or pick him up even if it looks ridiculous because he's like a foot taller than her and their dynamic is so dear to me

At all times I’m thinking about the fact that Konoha was created by the Uchiha + the Senju, and yet the last two remaining members of those clans just want to leave it behind so badly is there ever gonna be a place where those clans can just finally feel at home?

I don't care if they were OVAs or movies or seasons of ideas or whatever but instead of B*ruto we could have gotten:

- A highschool AU spin-off like in that ending where Naruto is a delinquent and Sasuke just excels at everything and it pisses Naruto off and Sasuke just doesn't want the pressure anymore and Naruto wants decent grades to pass so they teach each other beautiful aspects of their life and everyone else has screen time and they all become this one big group of friends accidentally and they are young and have fun AND THEY DON'T FIGHT WARS

- A samurai spin-off like in that other ending where they just run into each other always and they piss each other off and there's a lot of angst because naruto has a chaotic way of fighting with his sword (that involves punches more than the sword because he likes getting close and personal) and Sasuke is calculated and elegant (because of course he is) - basically a Samurai Champloo AU with Naruto as Mugen and Sasuke as Jin (but ANGRIER), and Sakura as Fuu but her entire character does not revolve around unrequited love and she's given some sort of external motivation of finding something important in her life (like a purpose or smth)

- Scenes from their childhood like I would sell my soul for Kishimoto to draw both Naruto and Sasuke meeting their younger selves (like in the time-slippity-flippity thingy in B*ruto) but instead of fighting aliens they just have these long in-depth discussions about who struggled the most with groceries and cleaning and loneliness and they would just watch themselves failing at stuff because of the whole 'no family' aspect like I would read/watch that shit for the rest of my life every day

- Naruto going on adventures with Sasuke (I don't wanna call them missions because I just want them to catch a WELL DESERVED BREAK) so they just sometimes travel together and take in the ninja world and corrupt systems and they talk about what they promised themselves they would do to change it (I'm looking at you Naruto when you made Nagato trust you with your speech about changing the world and then doing nothing about it) (and you Sasuke when you wanted to start a revolution because you used to care about people's suffering in the world) and so they would meet somewhere in between and change things for the better because, you know, they are literally the most powerful people on the planet at the end of Shippuden so they actually have the power to change things if they put their mind to it (I'm rambling I know) and maybe in this version of the 'what would happen if things were different' maybe Naruto wouldn't have accepted that fake hand and would borrow Sasuke's in battle for his clones or whatever (or use one hand signs AS THEY EXIST AND WORK JUST AS WELL) and realise that being Hokage maybe isn't what he truly wanted or just change the role of the Hokage altogether or just tell everyone about the truth of the Uchiha massacre, I'm just sayingggg (I hope I wake up tomorrow to find out I imagined B*ruto because I refuse to accept it is real)

Naruto and minato arent dilfs?

Naruto’s adult design is not my favorite and him not being the dad I thought he’d be knocks him off my dilf list. Like it’s getting better but there’s a bad taste in my mouth about it 💀

Minato is a character I don’t think about that often to consider him one for my list.

1: sexuality headcanon: gay. I try to see bi naruto but I can't he had an innocent crush on one girl as a little kid but once puberty hit that was it. But also like, he's gay but never put much thought into his sexuality? Like he doesn't think of himself as gay despite the lack of attraction to women. In a comphet kind of way, ya know. Thats my headcanon/rationale to explain why he decided to marry Hinata at least. And I think it holds some weight considering the nature of their marriage in canon. A closeted gay man marrying someone because that's what you do even though he doesn't actually feel that way towards her.

3: brotp: I really enjoy him with Shikamaru or Kiba. Just guys being dudes.
