I made a AI art LORA for Pixai of the Medicine Vendor from Mononoke

I absolutely love the Mononoke anime from 2007 and I found the main character of the Medicine Vendor to be fascinating and his design to be gorgeous. Unfortunately, not a lot of people (at least from what I’ve seen and who I’ve talked to) really know this anime so it doesn’t really have as many fanart or fanfics as I wish I did (especially the fanfics, seriously I wish we had more episodes of this show and can you imagine the scenario you can get from making crossovers?)

Unfortunately I don’t earn enough money to request commissions, and I am currently not good at drawing fan art myself (WHY CAN’ T I DRAW WHAT I SEE IM MY HEAD) so I decided to make this LORA and hope that people will get curious about this anime and make artworks of it too.

Whether it’s AI art or art made on your own because we all know that AI doesn’t always work (why does it remove limbs or add new ones?) any art is good as long as you like what you’re doing.

I wanted to share this now because I recently saw the Medicine Vendor’s new design in the upcoming 2024 movie and while I am extremely excited and hoping that this movie will bring in more fans of this great anime, I can’t say care much for the Medicine Vendor’s new design. I don’t like or hate it and power to those who do like it, I just feel like it makes him look like a different or separate character, like a evil twin or a Mononoke he’s going to fight. I am also extremely concerned since movie adaptations and sequels don’t always go well, especially in recent years. I really hope the movie goes I wanted more fanart of this character’s original design because if the movie doesn’t work out, I want people to at least know where it originally came from.

Honestly, I forgot until the episode started that Drowned Dreams is technically a part of the Jumi questline - Flame of Hope and Lucky Clover, which bracket it, are such standouts in terms of writing and Drowned Dreams is a bit weird to actually play through. A lot of running around back and forth, a lot of talking to people and talking to them again later, to the point that by the time it ends it’s easy to forget details of how it started (for example, I’d forgotten that Thoma is initially a red herring due to actually having blue eyes).

A lazier anime could have skipped it and not lost much! But this anime is taking the chance to actually introduce us to the Jumi that the Blue Eye came from and I am so emotional.

AND it retroactively provides a narrative reason why Basket Fish would become a bit of a recurring motif in the Jumi questline - if we get into Florina’s dreamscape, I wonder if we’ll once again see the field of Basketfish in the desert?
