Summary: everyone loves the two australian drivers on the grid, and it gets even better when they are in a relationship

Pairing: daniel ricciardo x reader

Warnings: suggestive jokes. This is based on an anonymous request that they sent me and I accidentally deleted it, so whoever asked for it, I hope you like it

Word Count: 986

Daniel and you were two of the f1 fans' favorite drivers. Even though Daniel had been a few years more than you on the grid, it didn't take long for you to connect when you started driving as a rookie for the Williams team. Years later, this being your eighth season and now driving with Aston Martin, it had been inevitable that you and Daniel would fall in love, making the two of you the star couple of the paddock. Everyone was aware of the dynamics of teasing and suggestive jokes that you had shared with each other for years, your humor and similar personalities, in addition to the fact that you were both Australians, being what had brought you closer and had made you fall hard for each other.

Today was Thursday, the Austin GP would take place this weekend. When your manager told you who you would do the press conference with that day, you smiled almost evilly when you saw your boyfriend's name among the pilots. There would also be Charles, Pierre and Max.

"There's my girl" your smile widened even more at Daniel's euphoric shout behind your back. You turned in time to see him run towards you and wrap you in a hug that lifted you a little off the ground making you let out a few laughs. You separated and managed to talk.

"I guess you've already seen the press conference today" Daniel asked you.

"I've seen it and you don't know how much I want to do the interview today with my favorite guy on the grill" you replied, waiting for him to fall for the joke.

"Aww, I also want to be with you today beautiful" Daniel smiled at you tenderly and a little mocking at your comment.

"oh honey I'm sorry but I didn't mean you, I was talking about Max, he's my favorite guy on the grill" you made fun of him.

“Really? Then maybe I should find some other pretty woman who prefers me over Max” he joked back.

You both smiled defiantly but lovingly at each other, knowing that you didn't really prefer another person in the world.

"I'll see you later, okay? I love you"

"I love you too, don't change me for Verstappen while I'm gone" Daniel ended the conversation. You gave each other a little kiss before each of you went your own way, waiting to see each other at the press conference.

Later you arrived at the press room already packed with journalists thirsty for rumors and information. Max, Pierre and Charles were already there and the three of them greeted you as you approached your seat, which was ironically right next to Max's, the seat on your other side was empty and you knew that would be where your boyfriend would go. You smiled at this, they knew what they were doing sitting together. The press conference was about to start and Daniel was late like many other times. He entered minutes later with his characteristic huge smile on his lips.

"Until you finally arrive, you love to make you wait Ricciardo" you joked with him knowing that he would answer you.

“I'm sorry honey, my fans claimed me. I guess you don't know about that since no one likes you” the joke followed, aware that you were one of the favorite riders, being an idol of many girls and women fans of motosport.

“Fuck you, Ricciardo” you replied.

“If you are the one who does it, it would be a pleasure, my love”

Daniel sat down and the press conference began, the boys answered questions in order until they came to you.

“The next question is for y/n and Daniel, how does it feel to be in a relationship and have to fight at the races every weekend? Is it difficult to carry?” the reporter asked.

You looked at Daniel who in turn looked at you and you were the first to take the microphone to your mouth, hesitating a little in the answer.

“I guess when we started dating we had a lot of doubts about that. It wasn't easy being together either because of what people would say and the fact that even if we loved each other we had to compete for a good place on the grid. But I think that over time we have been able to get along well, after all we are two adults and we can separate work from our private life. In addition, it is nice the constant clashes between us both in races and out of them. It keeps our relationship alive” the words came naturally from you when talking about Daniel.

You turned to look at your boyfriend who was already looking at you with eyes and a soft and slightly naughty smile before your last words.

“It's actually much better than that. It's wonderful to have the woman I love by my side as I live out my dream of driving in F1. Even if she is quite a strong rival I always enjoy knowing that I have her close to me while we do what we likes the most. Also, I think I can say that I love to celebrate with her all our victories, although more mine than hers ”the last sentence made you snort smiling at the insinuation in his voice and at his mockery.

"You dream of it, Ricciardo" you spoke into the microphone.

"I dream of other different things with you, beautiful, but I still win anyway" Daniel answered again.

All your interaction had brought laughter from everyone present, the press and journalists delighted with the couple you made and the one that the fans and even you and other pilots called the “Australian energy” that you had between you when you were together. You were the perfect couple, and it was known that you were made for each other.
