Okay. So I've already talked about Krishna-Arjun and Athena-Odysseus parallels in very brief.
They both have a mentor God x mortal disciple/best friend relationship (KrishnArjun be a little more *cough* intimate *cough* perhaps) and both Krishna and Athena guide their mortal besties through the war and life in general. Beautiful.
BUT. There is this one similarity YET a difference between these two pairs that I've been dying to talk about, and that is Arjun dreading the Kurukshetra war and Odysseus thinking of whether to kill Polyphemus or not.
You know where I'm going with this.
In both the instances we can see Krishna and Athena scolding them for being a coward, for being indecisive and having second thoughts about such an grave moment of their lives as this. We can clearly see the frustration in both the Gods over the hesitance of their mortal besties.
But here's where the difference comes into play. While Krishna's reprimands on Arjun finally worked after the entire recitation of the Gita and then showing his Vishwaroop, and the archer boih finally proceeded with the war,...... Odysseus didn't listen to Athena, and didn't kill Polyphemus, despite her reprimands, which then, as we know, led to their breakup. THEN Odysseus's act of not killing the cyclops was brought up by Poseidon, about how his mercifulness will one day lead to his doom, and that sometimes, killing is way better than forgiving.
Just thought it was an interesting parallel yet a distinction between these two duos.
PS: I forgot to add this for disclaimer but I am aware that Athena-Odysseus parting ways is only in the Epic musical, and not in the actual epics.

Ares Headcanons because I am being neglected by my moots
-If you scream at him loud enough you’ll remind him of Hera and he will literally start dissociating until you stop
-Sometimes Athena will utter a word to Ares and he’ll literally scream and fall to the ground like a toddler having a tantrum.
-Ares likes to hide behind his helmet so people can’t see his true emotions, so he refused to take his helmet off unless it’s around someone he trusted. It got to the point where some gods don’t know what he looked like or slowly started to forget
-Ares dresses, smells, and looks significantly better once he started “dating” Aphrodite. His hair is actually washed and detangled, his skin isnt dirty with sweat and blood and dirt and WHATEVER ELSE, he actually looks like he made a effort in what he wears (Aphrodite dresses him).
-Ares went to the Greeks during the Trojan war not only because he could sense that the Trojans were gonna lose, but because he was scared Hera wouldn’t forgive him again if he didn’t.
-Ares’ hair sometimes have bows or other hair accessories, also braids because Aphrodite likes playing with his curly hair
-Zeus and Ares both have a habit of literally crushing the person they accidentally offended into a hug if they sense the person is upset. No talking it out just…. I’m gonna hug you until you forgive me. Ares learned this from Zeus because Zeus used to actually care if he hurt Ares’ feelings once.
-When Ares came out of the jar he immediately held on and hugged Hermes for a surprisingly long time, and Hermes let him. Hermes isn’t a super lovey dovey person, but he knew Ares needed that physical contact to make sure hes not going crazy.
-when Hebe married Heracles, Ares got upset because he was no longer Hebe’s favorite man (this isn’t true, he will always be her annoying, overprotective big brother)

Archaic Medusa
Got tired of seeing Medusa designed as a generic pretty woman but with snake hair. Also made a little height chart.

In Greek mythology, the goddess of wisdom, art, just war and the protector of cities, including Athens and Sparta. She was strict and inaccessible, but also extremely wise, intelligent, as well as subtle and moderate. Known for being born by jumping out of the head of her father, Zeus. Her attributes are: a spear, a shield and a bow. Her sacred animal is the owl and her plant is the olive.

Greek Mythology
Myths in Greek culture served multiple purposes, explaining natural phenomena, origins of the world, and the relationship between gods and mortals. They also explored moral and philosophical concepts, reflecting the complexities of human nature and the consequences of pride and hubris.

Y'all remember the altar post I made?
The one about how it's okay to NOT have an altar? And how I personally don't use altars for any reason?
Well, I don't want to call this an altar (because it's more of a deity space to me), but...

AAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Isn't she so pretty????
The one candle without a statue is for my newest deity (Hermes) :) he has a mini turtle carving instead lol!
But I love it and I'll definitely be lighting my candles more often!

Quotes based off of my fanfic characterizations of the greek gods (i’m bored and literally no one cares)
APOLLO
“But the thing i’ll never admit to anyone who’s met me is how desperately I want to be loved, I don’t think I could say it.”
“The first poem I wrote that wasn’t about you was still about you”
“Nothing ever ends poetically. It ends and we turn it into poetry. All that blood was never beautiful, it was always just red.
ARES
“And i think, maybe people are not complicated. Maybe they just want to be remembered.”
“You look so angry, why does everyone always look at you that way?”
“Everything that I’ve ever loved has clawed marks on it”
“Your father is only your father until one of you forgets”
ZEUS
“You can easily return to the past, but no one is there anymore.”
“I did not mean to be cruel. I swear i am good i am good i am good i am kind. I have love inside of me. Some place far far away”
HADES
“How can I ask anyone to love me when all I do is beg to be left alone”
“If you give me the slightest hint of abandonment and withdrawal, I promise I will outdo you”
DIONYSUS
“This is not a psychotic breakdown. This is a cleansing moment of clarity.”
“My god my god, whose performance am I watching? How many people am I? Who am I? What is this space between myself and myself?”
HERA
“I want to become a horrifying woman. I want people to turn away in horror when I pass by in the street. I don’t want to forget anger and hatred! You have become beautiful…”
“If only my heart were as cold as I pretend it is, maybe I could get over this.”
ATHENA
“My greatest fear? Easy. My greatest fear is that one day — maybe ten years from now, maybe tomorrow— I will stop being needed. I’m terrified that any desire attached to me will just dry up, just dissipate, and those I love will outgrow anything I can offer”
“You can cry. You can scream. You can feel unwell. There’s no need to sell an ideal image of yourself, you are human (maybe not), you are fluid in motion and emotion and that’s okay. It is such a crazy notion”
HESTIA
“I kind of think all we are is the things we do.”
“I know kindness exists because I am kind. ‘People gods aren’t good’ i am gods. i am good.”
