JJK Miscellaneous Headcanons: Satoru Gojo
Miscellaneous headcanons about Satoru Gojo. Single character for this post because I have so many thoughts.
For more characters please see my tag 'JJK Miscellaneous HC'

Warnings: Casual interspersing of angst and humor.
Satoru Gojo
Bisexual. Very aware of how attractive he is to some people. Particularly heterosexual women. He is annoying about it.
Has so much rizz up until the point he opens his mouth. If he were mute he could sweep any person off their feet.
The man is a massive softie somewhere in that ego of his. It's just hard for him to slow down and actually appreciate things from time to time.
He is not resistant to vulnerability. The problem is he won't engage it himself. Particularly because of how he was raised. Because he presents himself as a shithead 90% of the time, most people don't care to prod and ask how he is doing proper. If ever given the chance he would spill his guts though.
He would never acknowledge the fact that maybe he is very severely traumatized.
Tsumiki and Megumi became weird little sibling figures to him. This helped a ton because the bar was already on the floor with how they were raised. Gojo however, grabbed a shovel and started digging. He left them primarily on their own and just paid for utilities and visited them on weekends.
Up until Tsumiki went into her coma and he felt responsible for her state because he didn't keep an eye on her close enough. That's when he started bonding with Megumi outside his training as a sorcerer.
He was not disallowed from competing in the exchange event during his second and third years at Jujutsu High. The Kyoto students who competed against him never forgave him.
He is good at everything he has ever tried, sure. But he will never try anything he is confident he wouldn't be good at. The biggest example of this is cooking. As a rich kid he has never had to cook he never will have to learn to cook and he will lie about buying food and presenting it as his own.
Massive massive bully mentality. In that his favorite people are the ones he can get a rise out of. It's why he picks on Utahime so much. She's never learned that if you don't respond they'll give up eventually.
It is almost a talent how bad this man is at timekeeping. He is regularly late to everything no matter how important it is. While mostly honestly accidental, it plays into that bully mentality of getting a rise out of people.
He is a little fruity with his gender but is still definitely a cis man.
Would have killed it on vine.
Bleeding heart for his students. Past or present. He has to make it hard to get a hold of him when he is on missions because he will get distracted. Especially if his students ask for help.
Has a big family but no siblings. When he was still en utero he was not even close to being the next head of the clan. Up until he was born and it was revealed he had the six eyes and limitless.
Blue eyes are a staple in the family. Just usually not that blue.
He would lose his mind if he ever met someone like him. Very much a dish it out but can't take it kind of guy. Unfortunately no one has ever really been able to dish it back.
So adamant about pushing his limits in terms of what he can get away with because he knows at some point there has to be a 'too far'.
He hopes there's a 'too far' at least.
For the love of god they can't just let him do whatever the hell he wants.
But every single time, they do.
Can't go to the aquarium anymore.
Maintains his undercut himself. Shaves it once a week in a bathroom mirror. It's a weirdly cathartic experience for him.
As a child he was really dismissive about learning combat because of limitless. Thought he was too good and untouchable. That changed quickly in his mid teens though.
Was actually much worse as a child than he was as a teen and even an adult. Entitled, bratty and unnecessarily cruel. The complex was developed incredibly young.
Awful cute aggression. Paired with low impulse control and insane strength, Satoru is very careful to not hold small animals.
Thought about a family for a long time. Especially because it was something expected of him as the next head of the clan. While he likes the idea of settling down, he doesn't want biological kids. Partially to spite everyone around him. Mostly because even as the strongest, he always had that voice in the back of his head that constantly asked 'what if something happened'.
It is not impossible that he has managed to learn to sleep like a dolphin with only half his brain at a time.
Indifferent towards cats or dogs. Simply not a pet person.
Used to hold very traditional ideas about the role of women in his clan. Incredibly misogynistic until his early teens. It was one of the first things that signaled to him that there was something wrong.
When it comes to Yaga specifically, he would never deny a request. He will groan and complain about it if he doesn't want to do it. But he will get it done.
His near death experience, between Heaven and Earth, was the last time he felt honestly happy. Not that he hasn't been happy since, of course. It was just a euphoria and clarity that could never happen again.
He and Suguru cremated Kuroi and Riko together. The only people that would mourn them.
More than willing to lie to people's faces about how much or little they mean to him. He doesn't keep everyone at arms reach as much as he likes to pretend he does.
Went out of his way to protect Suguru's family after he died. No matter what roles they played in his cult.
Answer to the trolley problem: do not pull the lever
Because of how light his eyes are, Satoru's only real weakness is a sensitivity to light and quickly adjusting between light and dark spaces.
Was particularly hard on Maki when she was in his class. He wished he could have helped her more in realizing who she could be. A part of him was terrified to.
Despite everything. If he couldn't ensure the safety of his students, Gojo wouldn't change a single thing about his life. Even if he desperately wanted to.

Chan knows what happiness is. He's felt it before in mild amounts- like the time when he was 7 and his dad bought him that toy truck he'd been wanting, or when he ate his favorite food.
As the years went by though, he found it harder and harder to feel even an ounce of that elusive emotion. It wasn't like he was a particularly sad person, either. He was just...existing.
Which is why he found you so intriguing. He watched as you rambled away between sips of your boba, accentuating your words with wild gestures. It was cute, how passionate you were about art and how happy you got when you talked about it. Chan loved making his music too-it was a welcome distraction from his hectic life. He never found himself feeling this level of enthusiasm, though.
"And yeah. That's why I think Bernini is objectively better than Michelangelo."
He smiled, nodding, though he hadn’t really paid attention to what you had been rambling about. God, he couldn't help but be fascinated by you.
This was bad. He couldn't lie to himself anymore- he was definitely starting to feel things for you that went beyond mere intrigue. It was easy to pretend he didn't like you when you weren't around...But when you were right in front of him, Chan found himself hating the way he wanted to spend more and more time with you.
Suddenly, the door to the cafe opened. You looked up when you heard the tinkling bells, a frown growing on your face as you watched Minho walk in with Miyoung right behind him.
You sat up immediately, glancing at your watch and shooting a quick, apologetic smile to Chan. “Uh, I just remembered I have somewhere to be, so-”
Too late. Minho smirked as he walked over to your table.
“Chan, thought you’d be here. Can we talk?”
Chan’s eyebrows knitted as he slowly looked away from you. “Okay, I guess.” He stood up, following Minho as the two boys walked out. You looked up at Miyoung, who offered you a shy, genuine smile before sitting in Chan’s spot.
“Hey, Y/n. How are you?”
“Hey. I’m good. You?” You said slowly, slightly cautious. Miyoung was one of those girls who hadn’t been particularly mean, but it wasn’t like she’d gone out of her way to befriend you either.
“I’m alright...” She smiled again, trailing off a little awkwardly.
Her smile seemed genuine enough, but would she have smiled at you the same if you weren’t with Chan? Probably not, You noted with slight bitterness, sighing under your breath.
“Do you want some?” You spoke up, gesturing to the untouched cheesecake in front of you, tilting your head.
She shook her head, the same smile fixed on her face. “Nah, I’m on a diet. Thanks, though.” She opened her mouth, looking like she wanted to say something else, closing it and fiddling with her fork.
Awkward silence.
“I...” Miyoung looked at the fork in front of her, avoiding eye contact. “Are you happy?”
“Hap...py?” You questioned, a little confused.
“With Chan. Are you happy?”
“Oh..well yeah, I guess.” You frowned. “Um...we’re not actually dating yet, you know that, right?”
“You’re not?” Her eyes widened a little. “Oh...the way he acts around you, I thought...” She shook her head, sitting up straighter. “Anyway, I’m sure he’ll make it official soon.”
“Hmm.” You stared at the girl, her expression a little sad as she looked up, staring out the window. You tilted your head, following her gaze to Minho and Chan, who seemed to be having a conversation.
You looked back at her. “Why’d you ask that question? Are you not happy with Minho?”
“Wha- no, I am! I just... ” She paused. “Forget it. Hey...you want to come with me to the mall later?”
You raised an eyebrow. A week ago you had no friends, and now some of the most popular people at school were lining up to spend time with you. Huh.
“Sure.”
***
“Why do you want to talk? What’s up?”
Minho rolled his eyes. “Nothing much, really.”
Chan frowned. “Why’d you take me out here, then? I’ve got to get back to Y/n-”
Minho narrowed his eyes, leaning against the wall. “Chill, dude. She’s with Miyoung. She’s not going to die if you leave her alone for a few seconds. Why do you care, anyway?”
“What are you talking about?”
Minho pressed his lips together, observing the uneasy expression on Chan’s face.
“...Whatever. Just know prom’s in a few weeks, and Miyoung’s whipped for me.” He smirked. “You better get that book fast~” He turned around, walking back towards the cafe door.
Chan watched him leave, fists clenching as he watched Minho go up to the table, greeting Miyoung and steadily ignoring you. He watched the slightly hurt expression on your face uncomfortably. He felt so much anger, all of it directed at Minho...and some of it at himself.
***
Miyoung quickly put a smile on her face as Minho entered, standing up as he slunk a hand around her waist.
“Hey, baby.” He smiled down at her. “Let’s go, my parents aren’t home~”
“Oh...actually, Minho, I kind of made plans with Y/n.” The boy frowned at that, glancing at you. He opened his mouth to protest, interrupted by her.
“Um, we were planning to go to the mall, but you can come too! And so can Chan.” She said, smiling sweetly up at him and running a finger up his chest. “Please? I’ll make it up to you later...” She winked.
“Fine.” He gritted his teeth, looking up as Chan entered, placing a hand on your shoulder.
“But we’re going in my car.”
***
Miyoung was a sweetheart, really. She just wasn’t the kind of girl you’d usually befriend- but someone was better than no one, right?
She ran her eyes over the jewelry on the shelves, humming under her breath. “Hm, I’m not sure which necklace would match my belt...what color is your prom dress?”
“Oh...I haven’t exactly bought one yet.”
She looked at you, her eyes widening in shock. “What? Prom is two weeks away!”
“Yeah, I know. I might just wear one of my mom’s old dresses.” You shrugged, looking at the brooch Miyoung was holding. “Ooh, that one’s nice.”
Miyoung shook her head incredulously, putting the brooch down and grabbing your wrist. “Come on. I’ll help you find a dress, just follow me.”
You groaned but let her pull you along, deciding to entertain her for the time being. After all, she was your only female friend in years, and you didn't want to lose this yet.
***
People passing by the two boys sitting at the table and sharing their fries would probably think they were friends. Two dudes, hanging out and enjoying a fun guy's night. If only they knew.
Minho slipped another fry into his mouth as he tilted his head. "So you're sure you're going to get the book within the next few days?"
"Um, yeah. I know she trusts me. We've gotten really close."
"Yeah...I can tell." Minho raised an eyebrow, swirling his next victim in the small tub of ketchup.
Chan frowned as he took in Minho's expression. "What's up with that tone?"
"Don't you think you're getting a little too close to Y/n? You could easily steal that book if you wanted to, you spend every day with her now and I'm sure she's left her bag unguarded around you." He smirked. "Part of me wonders if you actually want her around. If you're dragging this out on purpose."
Chan turned red, the implications of what Minho was saying making him swear internally. "Wh- what are you talking about? I only hang out with her cause you made that bet. Or I wouldn't have looked twice at her." He said firmly, almost like he was trying to convince himself.
Minho shrugged, devouring yet another fry as Chan's mind started racing, the familiar feeling of confusion rising up again.
***
"We shouldn't keep Chan and Minho waiting." You groaned, Miyoung choosing to ignore your pleas as she tossed yet another dress at you.
"Shh, they'll be fine. They're at the food court, and you know boys and their relationship with food of any kind. I assure you, they're not missing us. Now come on, I just know you'll look good in green." She smiled.
You sighed, tiredly clutching the dress as you went back into the changing room for the nth time. For the last half hour, you'd repeatedly tried on dresses to the point where you were ready to collapse from exhaustion. However, the excitement Miyoung was radiating made you want to please her...and it was kind of nice, the way she oohed and aahed each time you changed into a different dress. Was this what it's like to have a friend?
You stared at your reflection in the mirror once you managed to get the dress on, your eyes widening. Wow.
The silk was dark green, hugging your waist perfectly. The cut of the dress flattered your body like it was made for you. It was the perfect dress. You fell in love with it the more you turned around, assessing your reflection from every angle.
Slowly, biting your lip, you checked the price tag hanging off it. You sighed. Just as you thought.
You knew your mom would never be able to afford a dress this expensive. A sudden rush of guilt ran through you as you dropped the tag, running a hand through your hair as you moved to take the dress off.
For a minute, your hand paused on the zipper, your eyes travelling back to your reflection. For a moment, you let yourself imagine attending prom wearing this beautiful dress.
An image of you and Chan, slow dancing under the dimmed gym lights settled itself in your brain. You let a small, dreamy smile take over your face as you removed the dress. Even if you'd be wearing your mom's old floral dress, at least the Chan part of your fantasy would remain true.
***
You hadn't had this much fun in ages. So this was what it was like to hang out with friends. You wished you'd met Chan and Miyoung earlier.
The only problem? Minho. Your worst nightmare, in the form of a handsome high school boy with a devilish smirk and a weird, unprovoked hatred towards you. The fact that you were now left alone with him was probably the only downside to an otherwise wonderful day.
Miyoung had dashed into a shop, saying she'd be out in a second, and soon after Chan had dipped saying he had to go withdraw some money at the ATM. By pure, rotten luck, you somehow winded up sitting next to Minho on the mall bench as the two of you waited for your partners to come back.
You stared ahead of you, determined not to look at the boy sitting next to you. He'd always ignored you, treated you like you were the dirt on his shoe. You weren't going to give him the satisfaction of knowing you hated him as much as he hated you.
After a few minutes, Minho smirked, glancing over at you. "Why do you look so worried? Afraid your boyfriend's gone to cheat on you?" He asked, his tone dripping with fake sweetness.
You turned to look at him, glaring. God, this dude was so annoying.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?"
Minho's eyebrow raised slightly, as he hadn't really expected you to reply. His expression faltered for a moment before his usual sneer took over his face once more.
"There isn't anything wrong with me, darling." He said, looking up and eyeing a lady in a crop top. You followed his gaze and let out a snort.
"What an asshole."
"Excuse me?"
You turned to him, anger taking over your entire being again.
"Miyoung's a sweet girl. She deserves a lot better than a lying dickhead who can't even keep his eyes to himself." You scoffed. "You should stop using her like this."
Minho's mouth opened slightly, the slight shock giving way to amusement as he grinned.
"I'm using her?" He pouted. "Hm. I guess that is wrong...I should probably take lessons from your boyfriend, yeah? Since he's so perfect."
"What do you mean?" You narrowed your eyes, slight discomfort settling in you as the man shifted closer to you on the bench.
"Just saying." He shrugged. "Channie isn't who you think he is." Leaning in, you shuddered as you felt his lips graze your ear. "I'd watch my back if I were you, sweetheart~"
He quickly drew back as he noticed Miyoung emerge from the shop, expression neutral as he stood up to go over to his girlfriend.
What was he talking about?
***
"Hey, you okay? You seem...out of it." Chan said gently, glancing at you from the corner of his eyes as he drummed his fingers on the steering wheel.
"Oh? What- no, I'm fine." You nodded, carefully staring at your lap. Chan turned to look at you, frowning.
"You sure?"
"Uh huh." You said slowly, staring out the window as Chan drove you home. There was silence in the car, and Chan hated it. The atmosphere was thick with unspoken tension. He wanted to do something about it, but you looked so closed off and guarded ever since he got back from the ATM.
"You can...you can always talk to me, you know." He said gently, as he stopped the car in front of your house.
"I know." You mumbled, looking up at him. "I'm sorry. Thank you for today, it was fun. See you tomorrow?"
"I wake up at 5 am every day for you, now." He whined, glad your smile was back on your face. "You know, going to school that early should be a crime."
You giggled as you got out of his car, closing the door and going over to his side.
"Well then, arrest me, officer~"
Chan blushed slightly, gripping the wheel. "Bye, Y/n." He laughed, as you blew a kiss and turned to enter your house.
Chan let out a sigh under his breath. He realized slowly that for the entirety of the day, he hadn't felt all that much jealousy. He'd been too focused on you to even notice Minho's desperate attempts to induce envy in him. And after Minho's sly accusation, Chan didn't know what to believe. Could it be...
This was bad. This was really bad.

Owl House Fanfiction: I love The Found Family Trope!
Tumblr media
Posted on Ao3 here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/29417493
Eda had gotten used to a lot of different ways of waking up after her getting her curse.
The first few times it happened, she'd unfortunately routinely woken up to find herself naked. (Titan, was she grateful when she'd finally found a spell that made her clothes change with her and didn't have to keep dumpster diving or "borrowing" clothes)
Once that was taken care of, her post transformation wake ups were slightly more comfortable, if predictable. She'd come too laying on the ground, her body's usual aches, pains, and stiffness seemingly doubled to the point where she could barely move. If she was in someone's house she'd likely be surrounded by overturned furniture and fixtures all covered in claw and bite marks. If she was lucky any people that might've been there would've already run and hid. If she wasn't….well, she knew a good amount of healing magic and potions.  No matter how much damage she might have caused, most people wouldn't turn down having their injuries taken care of.
And after that, things changed. Even if the person she was living with didn't kick her out, she could still see how they acted differently. They avoided eye contact with her, didn't stay in the same room with her for longer than two seconds, and she couldn't help but notice how they always seemed to lock their doors at night, nevermind whether she'd taken her elixir or not. Needless to say, when that happened she was gone before a week even passed. Someone being afraid of her or thinking she was a freak she could handle. But she preferred that to them tiptoeing around it and pretending to be okay with her when they were secretly scared.
Considering all of that, waking up safely in her nest with a bottle of elixir in her mouth was a new experience.
She wasn't that shocked once she'd gotten the whole story. She'd never explained what her elixir did to King, and Luz thinking it was some special magic boosting potion sounded just like her. But what really surprised her were their reactions.
After making sure Hooty was put back up and okay, they'd come by to check on her. Luz, having worried she might not be feeling well, had brought her a bowl of some strange human concoction called "chicken soup" that she'd gotten from a can in her junk collection. ("It's no magic potion but my mom. always made me chicken soup when I wasn't feeling well.) She'd also gotten her a person sized pillow that had the image of some male human character with spiky hair on it and with a little work slid it beneath Eda in her nest. The thing may have looked weird but it was comfy as heck and felt great for her sore back. Meanwhile King, still looking regretful about snatching her elixir, had fixed her a mug of apple blood as a peace offering.
While the mixture of alcohol and salty human bird water helped soothe some of her pain, Eda couldn't help but notice her apprentice and her housemate still standing off to the side of her nest. Both of them simply stood and watched as she ate and drank, staying oddly silent and staring at her as if she might disappear mid slurp.
It was almost a little unnerving. She hadn't expected either of them to be this quiet after discovering her curse. She figured Luz would've had her usual million questions about anything magical while King would be demanding to know why she hadn't told him before now.
Then again, it wouldn't surprise her if they were still too in shock. After all, while she had never been able to witness it herself, she knew her cursed form could be pretty terrifying to see. One person she'd lived with had been so freaked out by it, he hadn't been able to make any noise except terrified squeaks for 3 days.
Plus, the way they found out was pretty sudden. Sure, King shouldn't have stolen her elixir but it wasn't like he knew what it was for or why she took it. In fact, a part of her hoped he'd never find out.
But the cat was off the staff now. She knew that the two of them must still be curious, otherwise they wouldn't still be there. So it was time to witch up and deal with it.
Eda drank the last few dregs of soup from her bowl and drained the rest of her apple blood for a little courage before turning to King and Luz.
"Alright you two. I know you probably want to know more about all this. So, let's have it."
Luz and King took a moment to look at each other, almost seeming to have a full conversation in two seconds before turning back to her.
"No thanks." Luz said.
"Yeah, we're good." King agreed.
Eda blinked in confusion. "What? What do you mean?"
"We don't need to know anymore." Luz explained. "This whole curse thing seems kind of personal and besides you already told us all the important parts. So we don't need to know anything else."
Eda stared at her in stunned silence. She looked to King and was even more surprised to see him nod in agreement.
To say this was not what she'd been expecting would be an understatement.  Where was the yelling at her for putting them in danger? The demanding answers? The blaming her for not telling them about her curse before all this? Heck, the two of them didn't even look that upset. They just still had those weirdly concerned looks on their faces. Maybe they just worried she'd still be mad about them stealing her elixir and were too scared to bring it up.
But that brought another issue to mind. And while she might have become pretty fond of those two, she knew it would only be a matter of time until it came up.
Ignoring the tight feeling in her chest, Eda said slowly. "Listen…..if you guys want to find somewhere else to stay, I understand."
They both became bug eyed.
"What?!" Luz cried.
"What are you talking about?!" King asked.
Eda looked away from them, doing everything she could to keep the wetness in her eyes from turning into full blown tears.
Suck it up. She thought. It's not like you haven't done this before.
"Luz, you could probably see if one of those Hexside kids might be willing to let you stay with them, and King I-."
"You're kicking us out?!" Luz yelled.
"No!" King scrambled into the nest, got onto his knees  and clasped his paws together. "Please Eda, don't!  I'll never be able to find anyone else willing to  let me live with them without paying! If this is about stealing the elixir, I'm sorry! I swear I won't steal anything you don't tell me to!"
Eda frowned in confusion and turned back to them. "What? No. I mean, yes King, if you steal from me again I'll turn you into a tiny fur rug, but I just meant….you guys really don't want to move out?"
They both looked shocked at her question. "No." "Why would we?"
"Why would- how about  because I could have killed you two last night?" She felt bile begin to build in her throat and not the magical kind. "I could have eaten one of you like I did the snaggleback!"
"Oh come on Eda, it wasn't that-."
"Luz." Eda said, her voice hard. She didn't have it in her right now to deal with Luz sunshine attitude.
Luz must have noticed because she sighed and said. "Okay, look Eda. I'm not going to lie and say that today wasn't terrifying or that I wasn't afraid but….Eda, once I realized that the monster that was chasing after us was you? All I could think about was how I could help or what I could do to get you back. I didn't want to lose you."
Eda stared at her apprentice in complete shock. In her past talks with her living mates after they discovered her curse, they always talked about them . Their safety, their terror at her transformation, their discomfort at having Eda stay around after what happened. But Luz was thinking about her and whether she was okay.
It felt….weird. But in a good way. Kind of like a lot of things Luz did come to think of it.
Eda looked down to where King was still sitting in her nest. "And what about you King? You aren't freaked out by my little secret?"
King shrugged. "Eh, at first it was horrifying but after thinking about, its actually pretty cool. You're a demon just like me! Which technically makes you one of my subjects!"
Eda rolled her eyes. Typical King.
"And, since you are one of my subjects…."
"King, I swear to Titan, if you-."
".....than, that also means you fall under my protection." King finished. He walked over to Eda, climbed into her lap where he curled up into a ball. "If anyone wants to hurt you, they'll first have to go through me!"
Eda couldn't hide the amazement on her face as she gazed down at King. Then she felt something softly touch her shoulder. She looked over and saw Luz had placed a hand on her and was giving her a loving look.
"We're not going anywhere Eda. Us weirdos have to stick together, remember?"
Eda couldn't believe what she was hearing. Even after they both spent the night being terrorized by her and knew about her curse, they still insisted on sticking around.
They weren't going to leave her.
Luz suddenly frowned and looked at her worriedly. "Hey, what's wrong?"
It took Eda a moment to realize that there was a tear streaming down her face. She quickly wiped it away.
"Uh, no Luz, I just, uh, really loved that soup you brought me. There any chance there's some more?"
"I'll go dig through trash for another can!" Luz excitedly sprinted out the door.
Eda looked down at King. "Would my so-called "King" be willing to fix his new subject another apple blood?"
King stood up from her lap and stretched. "I suppose its what any humble ruler would do for his wounded subject." King took her mug and scrambled out of her nest and out the door.
Eda sighed fondly and layed back on her spiky hair human pillow, taking in the sight of the many light orbs that now dotted her ceiling thanks to her apprentice.
We're not going anywhere Eda.
If anyone wants to hurt you, they'll first have to go through me
Eda chuckled. "Thanks you two

I do think the diss battles have kinda fallen off but tbh I dont want them to leave. I think the degree to which people believe its fallen off varies based on what you want from it! If someone want lines that really hurt (which is fair as thas the og format) they'll think it really fell off but like me, for example, I just need witty bars whether they hurt hurt or they're just a jab (granted even the witty lines of any sort are becoming far & few in between 🥴) And I can tend to be optimistic so it may just be that coming out hoping they get better lmaoo I do, however, think they should listen to the majority here & boot it if most people are bored of it. It doesnt needa stay just off tradition if its gonna lose views imo
You definitely have some good points! I agree.
I'm really not sure if I want it to go. Cause it's kinda like, what are y'all gonna replace it with? I feel like it's valid to have a diss battle on a hip-hop show since that's been like a huge part of hip-hop thus far. Careers have been derailed, people have DIED, fights break out at rap battles even though everyone KNOW they are there and even potentially got PAID to talk crap about each other.
You mentioned boredom but that's another thing, I only know if it's boring AFTER I've seen it. BUT every season I AM looking forward to it. I can't help but wonder what would happen.
Another (small) issue tbh is that it seems like the people who have or had issues with each other always end up not being able to battle. One ends up eliminated before the battle. So we miss out on that. Nobody really disses prior to the diss battle anymore because they already know what's coming. It'd be dumb to waste too early. It'd be VERY interesting if they had a season where they shuffled around the diss battle so contestants are genuinely shocked when it comes. It creates a bunch of tension and shakes people up a bit. Like in real life when you pretty much have no clue a diss is coming. It's also way before the contestants have time to get comfortable with each other so they don't really care about pissing off the others the same way. The longer they spend together the closer they get. Also, earlier on, less people have left.
Like imagine a Euiyoung vs Mudd battle right when the 1v1 choosings just happened cause Euiyoung was actually upset Mudd chose him. Same thing with A-chess and Gwangil. But as we saw, the process of the 1v1 made them closer.
Honestly, a season where they shuffled ALL of the missions would probably be a bit too cruel though tbh. BUT I can't lie that WOULD be a way to shake things up. Kinda like Squid Game where everyone KNOWS they are gonna play games, then they find out it's children's games which narrows it down a bit. However, they still spend portions of each episode trying to figure out what the next mission will be and doing all types of shit just for the chance to figure it out. It'd be interesting but CRUEL as shit especially since the contestants don't expect that level of cruelty from the show anymore. The cruelest thing is getting eliminated in round two in the fire pit or treated coldly by the judges in round 1. Plus, the anxiety and unknown would make some people act out too. So it'd probably just be really hostile. Like I said, very cruel.
I don't think just shifting the diss battle (which would in turn only shift ONE other mission which wouldn't be all that bad cause it's likely less cruel than the diss battle anyway) would be that bad though. It just kinda hard to see where to shift it to while not putting the thing it replaced somewhere awkward and unfitting.
