exam rambles

I looked over the suggestions from my committee member for 17th cent lit and he took a bunch of stuff off my list (mostly good, but he clearly didn’t think I need to read about John Ford ;_;), added a few, and halfway removed Lawrence Stone (‘you should know about him, but I don’t expect you to actually read most of what he wrote’ GOOD I’VE HATED HIM FROM UNDERGRAD).

I think it’s a net gain—most of the stuff he added looks more interesting than what I had (except on Ford!!), but even though it’s much shorter than my terrifying 16th-cent list, it’s still kind of ... aghhhhhhhh. 

And that’s not considering the 18th-cent list :) :) :)
