SNStober Day 12 - College AU

„No way! “, Naruto leaned over the counter, coming face to face with Sasuke – too close. “We’re going to the same university! How have we never met before? I can’t believe it!”

Sasuke leaned to his side, resting his head in one hand – putting some space between them again - “We’re studying different things, so we probably don’t frequent the same classrooms. Your veterinary medicine courses are on the other side of campus as far as I know.”

“But on campus!”, Naruto raised his voice, his enthusiasm getting the better of him once again. “How have we never met anywhere there-“

Thank god that they were – as usually – the only one’s in the diner this late into the night or any other customer might have gotten annoyed with their round-the-clock conversation.

“I usually don’t spend much time on campus.”, Sasuke answered truthfully. He didn’t. Usually, when his courses were over, he headed straight home.

“Boring.”, Naruto mused playfully.

“I’m coming here to keep you company at four o’clock in the morning.”, Sasuke raised his eyebrows at the blonde. “I can leave if you’re too bored though.”

“No!”, the other almost immediately exclaimed, “Joking, I’m joking!”

Sasuke let out a small laugh. “I know. Usuratonkachi.”

Naruto gave him a lopsided grin at the nickname, and Sasuke felt his heart do a little flip, an uncommon reaction he still tried to place as it had never happened with anyone before. But before Naruto, he would have also never thought that he’d go out of his way like this – spending so many of his nights by now at a worn-down diner only because a certain blonde was working the shift and he had wanted to see him again. Sasuke should just ask for his number, so maybe then they could-

They could-

“Maybe I can show you around sometime.” Naruto suddenly spoke, pulling Sasuke out of his thoughts.

“Huh?”, he was confused. Show him around what?

“Around our campus, genius.”, Naruto smiled, leaning forward once again. “You’re definitely not living your university life to the fullest.”

“And you’re going to help me with that?”, Sasuke didn’t back away this time, raising his eyebrows in challenge.

“Obviously.”, Naruto nodded enthusiastically. Then, he seemed to suddenly realize something, “I probably won’t make it tomorrow though since I really have to sleep after this shift, but the day after tomorrow we could totally meet up!”

Sasuke felt his heart pound. That would be the first time they would meet up because Naruto wanted themto, and not because Sasuke was a customer who kept coming back and leaving him with no other choice. He averted his eyes, staring onto the ground for a short moment. “Okay.”, he eventually answered. “The day after tomorrow is fine. We can do that.”

He raised his eyes just in time to see the blonde light up. “Great!”

Naruto then leaned back a little, looking around for something. “Hold on a moment!” He hopped away from the counter, running back into the kitchen.  Sasuke took a deep breath. They would meet up. The day after tomorrow.

He didn’t have time to dwell on it though, since barely seconds later Naruto came back, holding up his phone in triumph. “We should totally exchange numbers so that it’ll be easier to meet up.”

Now, Sasuke just stared at him. Seems that Naruto had beat him to it, asking for his phone number. Wordlessly, he slowly nodded, taking his own phone out of his pants pocket, and opening his contacts. They were really exchanging numbers now. It was finally happening. Sasuke’s heart kept pounding the whole time.

When they were done, Naruto smiled at him. Sasuke smiled back.
