Soryu Oh’s POV

“Then we’ll see how ‘skilled’ you truly are”

I captured her soft lips in the grasp of my own desperate pair and laced my fingers through her silky locks; naturally and poetically. The last few moments before this seemed so timeless and perfect - I’d do it over and over again if I could.

My eyes drift off to welcome the land of dreams but I’m haunted by the smile of her face. Why, why now? I had never been too concerned with not seeing her before, but my heart walks a different path and plays to another tune. I swing my legs out from the comfort of my bed and make my way out to take a breath of fresh air - I’m sure a little breather will help my brain re-organise itself and calm my racing heart.

I was drawn to the pool, on my little stroll down the hallway, by the sound of distant splashing. Hypnotised, my legs brought me to the entrance and I stood there, entranced by the overwhelming beauty before my eyes. The clear, blue waters that ripple and reform, glisten under the grace of the moonlight and engulf her body in an ethereal glow. So pure and alluring. I can feel my body heating up as my eyes embed, the view in front of me, into my brain and my body begins to make its way to hers.

My palms, so large compared to her own, silence her from her screams as I try to calm her down. The crystal-like eyes that bore into mine make the sparkling water behind her seem so dull.

“Look at what you do to me.”

Seconds, minutes, hours could pass in this moment and I wouldn’t think twice. I replace my hand, with my lips, and a little whimper escapes the back of her throat. The tiny moans that are swallowed up by the dance of our tongues cause my heart to pound violently and, I let my fingers wander onto her body - gently wiping away the glittering droplets that lingered on her supple skin. Her lips fit so perfectly in mine, it almost felt wrong to separate them… almost.

“Mmm… Ryoko…”

Suddenly, her eyes fly open and she pulls away from me in rejection. I’ve mistaken her for the lover of my past and understandably, she seems troubled and put-off by my actions.

“…Sorry.”

I pull myself away from her fragile figure and gather what little composure I can muster. How could I force myself upon her? How could I mistake this woman for my past love? Maybe my heart felt like it was ready to move on. No, the disturbed expression that painted the woman’s face and obvious rejection, was evidence enough that she didn’t want me. I wanted to believe that it wasn’t true and that she was just in shock but, I didn’t want to stay long enough to find out.

I pick up the clothes that decorate the floor in a sensual fashion and hand it to her. The articles that once hugged her petite frame now littered the floor artistically and I try to quieten my erratic heartbeat. I leave her in her shaken state and return to my room - much more distressed than before I left and I don’t find refuge from my thoughts until the sun rises.

As soon as the birds chirp and the morning sunlight fills the room, I flee the confines of my bedroom; where I spent the last countless hours dawdling about, trying to find some sort of reason for my rashness or some sort of excuse to present, should I bump into her again. Absently tracing my lips, I find my way to the penthouse lounge where the usual group has assembled.

“Good morning Sor~” sings Baba, “looks like you had a rough night.”

Overly-perceptive as ever.

“How was the first night with the lovely lady? Did you claim her as yours or can I still charm her with my L-O-V-E?” Baba continues, throwing winks at me annoyingly, causing my hand to drift toward my left-breast pocket.

“WAIT. NO. STOP. PLEASE SOR, HAVE MERCY~”

Just as our pointless banter was escalating, the door clicks open and in, enters Luke, back from his visit to London.

“Ahhhh it’s so nice to be back in the presence of Eisuke’s perfect bone structure~”

“Please, Luke, you just came back…” pleaded Eisuke, pouting as he fights off the slowing approaching doctor.

“I have a job for you,” at this, Luke straightens up and takes a seat next to me,

“What will you have me do this time?” He replies with a pleased expression.

“I want you to inspect the little toy we have on our hands and report on whether you can identify her as anyone belonging to the underground or, our enemies. If she’s a spy, she’ll be answering to more hell than she can ever envision for trying to deceive me.”

The urge to tell them about Inui’s inspection and her clearance from immediate suspicion bubbles within me, but I know better than to try to change Eisuke’s mind about things like this. He seems to think his intuition is some sort of superpower, he has, that can predict anything. I mean, it’s accurate 90% of the time but the 10% that it didn’t, caused a real mess that I didn’t have a fun time cleaning up…

“I wonder if she’ll have nice collarbones,” says Luke dreamily; clearly off in his own world.

This feeling arising inside of me, whenever I see her face, hear her voice, am in her presence…I want to protect her, hold her, kiss her. I’m no stranger to this feeling - I’ve felt this sense of elation once before. When I loved 'her’.

I guess I’ve fallen once again and this time, I won’t let her get away before I make her mine. But first, I will get rid of Ryuun and right all of the wrongs placed on the 'Ice Dragon’ name. Only then, will I be worthy to love her.

“I’ll take back the Dragons and her heart all in one fell swoop.”
