Fuuuuuuuuhhhhccckkkkk I got the most jaw-dropping Lloyd's true form design in my head that would drop you on your knees in awe like you just saw a biblically accurate angel or the God himself but my drawing skills are so ass I could not convey how truly majestic and beautiful it is 😔

I’m taking a massive leap of faith in this. This isn’t an attack, but a PSA of sorts. This comic is rather broad on the subject, while I’m rather niche on it. Complicated. We tag to “protect” others from seeing something that may upset them cause any good person doesn’t want to upset someone. But I have noticed this rule goes one way. And this goes beyond Tumblr, like community servers, ao3, anywhere.

People going " Don't be alarmist and discourage people to get into professional art, photography didn't kill it, AI won't either." It won't kill it as a hobby but in a society where a paying job is mandatory: Yes it is killing jobs, just like photography/industrialization did.
It won't disappear, but when it was ALREADY difficult to live off it, it'll get even harder. When a retired painter told me directly he's seen WAR TIMES sell better in the art department than current times: there's a big problem. Its not only AI the problem, but capitalism.
People demanding more for less and less, seeing artisan craft as too expensive compared to industrialized stuff, and not wishing to pay people a living wages. People care less and less about artisan craft, and any artisans will tell you horror stories about it.( entitled customers demanding months of works for 20 bucks because " I can get something similar for 10 bucks at wall mart! ( no, no it isn't the same.).)
Hell current internet culture encourage a type of consumption that is all about "I want my free content and I actively refuse to spend a dime on it to pay the people making it properly. They gotta figure out themselves how to live off it ,as long as its free for me" its nonsense.

I have a question for people with ocs cause I have this weird thing that’s blocking me from creating any art with mine, that if I don’t have their story finished then I’m afraid to draw anything related to the current story cause what if I change it? what if I change the characters designs again and then all the previous art is outdated? so the question is — does it bother you too or do you just go with the flow and draw them regardless? it might be a stupid thing really but it’s always in the back of my head when I think about my characters and universe that if it’s not finished then it’s not worth sharing with others

Apparently the ATLA graphic novels are on Webtoon now.
While I’m excited for them to get a wider audience I honestly doubt that Gene Leun Yang and the rest of the graphic novel team came up with this idea on their own terms and there’s no way whoever suggested it had 100% the integrity of the art and the artists at heart.
So yeah, you can read them for free now. That’s nice.
But as someone who has read through all the artist commentary and seen how much went into this series it really pains me to see this happen. I hope the team has been compensated in some way for this, they all seem like great people and it’s been fantastic to have an Avatar series actually primarily written by someone of East Asian descent, especially one that goes out of its way to address issues the series couldn’t.
It also sickens me in a lot of ways that webcomics, a format once utilized to escape the constraints of publishing, has become another industry built on artists having to let companies make decisions about their art for them.
