Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note : I thought of this when I watched the clip where Arthur is looking for Merlin and he was hiding behind the door. 😂 It was a one shot before and I heavily edited it too.
There is no denying that Prince's Arthur's manservant is in love with (Y/N), a noble lady from one of the most prestigious houses in Camelot.
Everyone, even Arthur himself, knows it. And that's saying something. 🫢😂
From the way Merlin would stare at you with heart in his eyes, how he would follow you everywhere like a dog, or his ears pick up whenever he hears your name.
Gaius almost wants to take a leaf out of Van Gogh's book and tear off his own ears because Merlin wouldn't shut up about you. He also writes about you in his letters for Hunith.
Now, does Arthur take advantage of it? Of course, he does. Like,"Do you know Lady (Y/N) would be there?" or "If you fetch flowers for Gwen, you could also get some for your lady love."
The epitome of the statement, however, is making you his trap. Confused? I'll explain further later.
"Merlin?! Where are you?!"
It's very common for the palace staff to hear the prince of Camelot blaringly calling out to his manservant. Although some people catch Merlin scurrying away from him or has an idea of his whereabouts, no one bothers to tell Arthur anything.
After all, it's completely understandable and why many servants can empathize. As admirable and honorable the prince is, he can be a handful at times.
That's where you come in.
Whenever Arthur has given up searching for Merlin, he would search for you instead.
He often finds you in the gardens with the other noble ladies, helping some servants with menial tasks, or having tea with Morgana and Gwen. Uther enjoys your company too, making the usual stoic ruler laugh and gossip.
"May I excuse Lady (Y/N)? I need her assistance with something."
"Is it Merlin again?"
"...Yes."
You would go to Gaius' chambers, the kitchens, servant's quarters, or anywhere Merlin could've gone to. Then, you would tell anyone that you're looking for him to speak about personal matters and you'll be waiting for him with a place of your choice.
Arthur would wait with you, but he's hiding where Merlin can't see him.
Why do you continue helping the royal prat? It's because you find it funny.
You're also curious, thinking how long will it take Merlin to stop seeking you out because most of the time it's just one of Arthur's traps.
The prince's knights bet on it. Gwaine and Leon are winning— saying how Merlin will never learn.
It's true, he doesn't. I guess love does make you an idiot.
Merlin always approaches you with a beaming grin on his face and blushed cheeks, acting like a lovesick school boy.
"My lady, you were looking for me?"
"Well you see..."
Arthur would wait for Merlin to get closer before grabbing the manservant in his clutches.
"Here you are, you idiot!"
Sometimes Merlin would free himself and run, sometimes he doesn't and Arthur would drag him away while warning him of possible punishments.
But he never misses the chance to look back and give you the most charming smile anyone has ever graced you with.
"Merlin really loves you, doesn't he?" You hear Gwen beside you, linking your arm with hers. Nervous and worried, you reply—
"Yes. I just hope that I get to tell Merlin that I share his affections. But Arthur is always with him."

Arthur x reader - our secret
Tumblr media
Can you do Arthur with Merlin’s sister who also has magic and uses it to save him and he keeps her secret because he cares about her.🙃🙂 - @faithm120601 💜
Running through the hallways, you were cursing your brother out for making you do this.
You didn’t want to be a part of anything, but he made a good point of Arthur probably had no idea about the intruders, and that somebody had to warn him but it was too last.
Since Merlin could keep them back a little and use his magic without Arthur being there, he then left telling the prince of Camelot to you.
“Is everything alright (Y/N)?” Leon asked.
“Intruders at the front! Merlin trying to hold them off!” You called.
“What?!”
“Go! I’ll tell Prince Arthur!”
Leon nodded his head and ran in the direction you had just come from while you carried on your route.
You were close, just a few more hallways and you were be there.
Running around the final one, you stopped to take a few breaths, walking over to the doors where there were supposed to be guards.
But there were none and that put you on edge as you approached the large doors.
You could hear the signs of struggling, and you peaked through the gap in the door.
You could see anything, but you could tell there was a fight going on inside, so, cautiously you opened the door a bit more so you could slip in.
Arthur was in there, pinned to the wall, struggling to hold back the sword that was against his neck.
You didn’t know what to do, and in your panic of not wanting to let him die, you raised your hands, eyes turning gold as you whispered something under your breath.
You threw your hand to the side, and the attacker went flying on the floor.
Quickly you lowered your hand and hid yourself behind a cabinet.
“Who’s there?” Arthur called.
He looked around, but couldn’t see anybody.
He couldn’t search the room, he needed to deal with the attacker.
After a few moments you stood up.
“Sire, there’s been intruders, Sir Leon has been told and he has gone to my brother who is at the front of the castle with them.” You said.
Arthur looked at you, then the unconscious man on the floor.
“I think the warning came a bit too late.” He snapped slightly.
“I’m sorry, I came as fast as I could.”
Arthur sighed, shaking his head.
“It’s fine, who else has been told?”
“King Uther, as well as the other guards.” You explained.
Arthur slowly nodded his head, narrowing his eyes at you a little bit.
He carried on binding the man so he couldn’t break free, and began to slowly move around the room.
You watched him carefully, making sure that he was okay.
Seeing movement behind him you looked at it.
“Arthur behind you!”
He wasn’t going to be able to turn around quick enough, you saw that.
So, you did the one thing you’re good at.
Using your magic, you used it to throw a book at the man, and you quickly put your hands behind your back.
“You have magic?!” Arthur hissed.
You said nothing.
He marched over to you, standing right in front of you, sword still clutched tightly in his hands.
“Please don’t tell my brother… or Gaius…” you whispered.
He furrowed his brows.
“They don’t know?”
You sighed, looking at him, shaking your head a little bit.
“No, I knew what would happen to me if anybody found out, I never wanted to bring them into that. They know nothing of it.”
Arthur looked a little confused.
“You know what will happen to you but still you chose to use magic in front of me? Why?”
You gave Arthur a little smile.
“Because you’re the prince, it may not be my duty to protect you, but you were in danger. I would do it over again, between you dying to some intruders, and me being executed for using magic, I guess the choice is as simple as any.”
“You were the one behind the defence last week, aren’t you? Bandits suddenly disappear, what did you do with them?”
“I am, but they didn’t get hurt. I simply trapped them in a different part of the valley to you is all. Then scared them away.”
Arthur slowly nodded his head.
“Why will you not run away?”
“What’s the use? You already know, I knew what my fate would be when I made that choice sire, why run?”
He looked at you and you smiled at him.
“Please Sire, Merlin and Gaius may be confused, but don’t tell them. Tell them I left, I had to go home, I’ll write a note, it’ll be easier on them.”
Arthur sighed softly, nodding his head.
“Of course, I’m sorry it has to come to this.” He said quietly.
You smiled slightly.
“It’s okay.”
You both turned to the door as it was opened, and Uther came rushing in with some guards.
You bowed your head in respect, stepping away from the Prince.
You listened to them as they talk, but stayed lost in your own mind at the same time, not really taking the words in.
You were trying to think of what would happen to your brother, your best friend, you just wanted at least for him to be okay.
“You did this?”
You snapped out of your head, turning to the king, nodding your head.
“Yes sire, I did.”
He looked at you, walking closer.
“You brought down a fully grown man? How?”
You went to speak, but Arthur beat you too it.
“She threw the book! She has a good throw from what I saw.”
Uther turned to his son.
“Threw a book?”
Arthur quickly picked up the book you had used your magic on, and set it down on the cabinet.
“I see.”
Uther turned to you.
“In that case, thank you. I dread to think what would have happened if you hadn’t of come.”
“You needn’t thank me. I would do the same again if I had to.”
Uther smiled a little.
“That’s reassuring to hear, I will have these two taken out and guards placed at the door, more this time. Find somebody to clean this up.”
“I will do it Sire, I’m here already.”
He nodded and left, and you began to clear up the mess that had been made in the room.
After a few minutes when you were sure everybody was gone, you glanced up at Arthur who was just about to leave the room.
You decided not to bring it up there, so you waited.
Maybe he was still going to tell his father, but over the next few days nothing happened.
You found the Prince stood near some shelves, so you walked over, pretending to clean them.
“Sire?”
“Yes?”
Arthur turned to look at you.
“Why haven’t you told anybody?”
“Why would I?”
You glanced at him before turning away.
“You saved my life, I owe you that much to do the same to you at least. But you need to promise me no more.” He whispered.
You slowly shook your head.
“I can’t make that promise, I would do it again if I had to.”
“Then you risk being exposed, please, no more (Y/N)…”
You sighed, turning your attention to him.
“Okay…”
He smiled, looking around before he stepped closer.
“Thank you..”
With that, he brushed his hand against yours as he left with a little smile on his face, and you smiled as well, know at least for now everything was going to be okay.
But who knew what the future would bring

SWEETHEART — ARTHUR PENDRAGON
Tumblr media
masterlist
→ pairing: arthur pendragon x princess!reader
→ description: as a child, you had spent countless summers in camelot, your whole youth characterised by infatuation with arthur pendragon. though the feeling was mutual, your responsibilities as princess of your own kingdom meant that you had not returned in years. arthur had always held hope that one day you would reunite — but when you do, news of your betrothal leads him to believe he may have lost you forever.
→ warnings: angst at first, happy ending!!, merlin being a little shit stirring prat (who i adore).
“So this is the Princess Y/N we’re talking about here?”
Arthur scoffed at his friend’s teasing grin, rolling his eyes at the way Merlin’s arms crossed over his chest.
“The same Princess Y/N with whom you’ve been in love for… quite possibly all of eternity? Who you’ve spoken of constantly since we met? Who you’ve not seen in years except for in your dreams?”
“Alright, alright, Merlin,” Arthur warned, “Yes it is that Princess Y/N. And you’re not to say a word to her. I have waited a long time for this moment and you will not ruin this for me.”
Merlin smirked, uncrossing his arms to raise them in a show of surrender, “I won’t, I won’t.”
There was a moment of silence — Arthur pausing to heave in a deep breath as it dawned on him that you really had just arrived back in Camelot.
It had been almost five years since he had seen you.
Your father and his had been close friends and allies since their own childhood, and so you and Arthur had grown incredibly close.
Too close, perhaps.
You were his first love, and he yours, and having given each other all of your firsts you had both assumed that one day you might wed and rule both of your kingdoms together.
Instead, you had not been back in so long that he had begun to fear you never would.
As the only child in a rare kingdom accepting of a female heir, you had been in training to become queen upon your father’s death since you reached 17.
As a result, you’d not had the free time to visit Camelot, much to your dismay. Arthur too hadn’t been able to visit you, and so contact had ceased entirely as you went about your busy lives.
To say you missed Arthur was an understatement — he had been your absolute world.
From the days of chasing him through castle grounds and giggling under tables, to the days of lovelorn stares and stolen kisses, the arrogant prince would remain the love of your life for as long as you would live. You were certain of that.
And to now be returning to Camelot after all of this time, you were utterly terrified — even more so given the news that you were returning to share.
As soon as you caught sight of Arthur amidst the throng of knights your heart raced impossibly fast; Faster even than it already was at the thought of seeing him.
Now, it was real.
“Is that her?” Merlin pointed a finger directly at you, causing Arthur to twist on his heel and spot you and your guards (though not before grabbing Merlin’s finger and twisting his arm for daring to point at you).
Your pace quickened as you watched his eyes widen, and leapt straight into his arms when you reached him, though you knew this was not something you should be doing in public — even if you were tucked away where only the other Knights of Camelot (and Merlin) could see the encounter.
“My Lord,” you beamed, pulling back from the embrace to take in the sight of the man before you. A man still just as perfect as he once was.
“My Lady,” he smiled, his cheeks rosy as the sound of your voice washed over him still, though he would claim it was due to the cold, “I—I almost fear that I am simply imagining you or that it cannot possibly be you.”
You giggled, biting your lip as you felt his eyes linger intensely on yours, “It’s me, Artie. The same old Princess Y/N/N. Could we talk, perhaps, in private?”
He quirked his brow as he looked down at you, before nodding and leading you elsewhere. You noticed what you assumed to be his servant following close behind, but Arthur dismissed him with haste and he hovered seemingly just out of earshot instead, “Don’t worry about Merlin. I’ll introduce you after.”
You grinned nervously, still taken aback by even being in his presence.
“Little has changed, I see,” he laughed, before leaning to whisper, “You are still as beautiful as ever.”
“Unfortunately, Arthur, that— that’s why I am here,” you frowned at the ground, refusing to catch his eye again, “In fact, a lot has changed.”
“What do you mean, my love?”
“Arthur I—, I—, I have come here to bestow an invitation upon you.”
Arthur’s face twisted in further confusion, a frown set on his face as your words worried him, “An invitation?”
“To my wedding,” you gulped, watching the colour drain from his features as you spoke the dreaded words, “I am to be married in a fortnight.”
Arthur took a step back and you could now no longer feel his breath fanning across your face. You had waited an age to be reunited and to be doing so on these terms was agonising.
“This must be a joke, Princess. Tell me it’s a joke. Please, tell me it’s a joke?”
The tears that had been pricking at your eyes fell freely now as the weight of your confession crashed down upon you.
You would never love a man like you loved Arthur — it was an impossibility and you knew it. Your betrothal was merely the result of your father’s ill health and the influence of your fiancé - his closest advisor.
You were all but trapped in this engagement, and you had to make that clear to Arthur.
Your father had intended to send his Knights to invite the Prince and King Uther, but you had insisted upon breaking the news yourself.
Some small piece of you hoped that Arthur would object so profusely that he would instead beg for your hand — because you knew your father’s love for Camelot might outweigh the influence of Lord F/N and he might change his mind.
But you feared that this was merely a pipe dream, knowing that Arthur’s pride might in fact act as a barrier to his honesty.
He had missed you immeasurably too, of course, and Merlin’s prying eyes and ears couldn’t let Arthur be so silly. He might know Arthur to be a prat, but he wasn’t about to let him waste his chance at getting you back.
Besides, he knew he wouldnt be able to cope with the moping.
“Arthur, I’m sorry—,”
“Who is it? Who is he?”
“I don’t—,”
“I must know.”
“It— I— I am to be wed to Lord F/N…”
Arthur’s face almost seemed to wash with relief for a moment, before the former strained expression returned. Sure — he could assume you weren’t in love with your betrothed, but regardless you were getting married to a man that wasn’t him.
“Is this a strategic marriage, would you say?” Trust Merlin to interject so impertinently and at such an awkward time.
You looked taken aback, perplexed by the servant boy’s apparent lack of manners, “Excuse me?”
“Apologies, my Lady, but I only ask for the Prince’s sake because I fear he won’t, and I know he wants to. Desperately, actually,” the cheeky grin on his face and Arthur’s wide eyes told you this behaviour was not unusual of him, “Is this marriage purely for the sake of your kingdom, then? Or a love match?”
Of course he knew the answer. It was clear as day — every bordering kingdom knew of your father’s declining health, and of Lord F/N having worked his way up to become his closest confidante.
“Artie— You know I love my father dearly,” you were practically pleading with him as you began to answer, addressing him instead of his servant, “And he cares for Lord F/N. I do hope that one day I might love him. Until then… Well, you have to understand that I have no choice.”
The frown on Arthur’s face was an agonising sight for you to see.
“I’m surprised there was no marriage alliance between your kingdom and Camelot, my Lady,” Merlin continued, still smirking, and Arthur elbowed him in the side, “Ow! I’m just saying… I’m sure the King would have obliged. His heir, wedded to a woman who will also be Queen in her own right. Two kingdoms so aligned. More power. Seems a no brainer to me. But eh, a wedding is a wedding to me! Even if it should be Arthur you’re marrying.”
Arthur looked distraught by Merlin’s outburst.
You couldn’t figure out what to say.
“Right. Leaving you to it. I’ll be just over there.”
Arthur shooting daggers at him had clearly finally hit him, and he scampered off, leaving you and Arthur staring intensely into each other’s eyes.
“Do you think…” you began, your voice barely a whisper as you looked down at your feet for a moment, “Do you think that he is right? Your servant? Do you share his belief that our fathers would agree to such an idea?”
Arthur fought the twitch of a smile threatening to erupt on his face now that you’d expressed even the slightest hope that that could be an option for you.
“I do,” he nodded, capturing your hands in his as he spoke, “And I’d be lying if I said that I hadn’t hoped I might have the chance to propose that while you were here. I’m not the childish boy I once was — well, for the most part — and to marry the woman I love as well as strengthening my kingdom? I can think of nothing I’d like more.”
You tried desperately to suppress the butterflies in your stomach at the sound of the words “The woman I love.”
“But would King Uther agree?”
Arthur scoffed, “My father despises Lord F/N, the meddlesome bloody fool. He would have us married today if it pushed that man into obscurity. He’s the reason our kingdoms have become so much less closely allied in recent years. Our fathers rarely see each other because of his interventions.”
You gulped, taking stock of what he had just said and pondering what this might mean.
“And that’s the truth?”
“Would I ever lie to you, Y/N/N?”
At this you sighed — you knew he wouldn’t. You knew he was always honest with you, even if you were the only person who ever had the fortune of being graced with this honesty.
You glanced around you, acknowledging that nobody was looking but your guards, and pulled him behind a wall nearby into the quiet of where Merlin had previously been lurking.
Your hands found his jaw and you tiptoed to kiss him, breathless at the spontaneity of your actions. He was quick to kiss back (and as good of a kisser as you remembered!) and before you knew it he had your back against the wall and deepened the kiss with parted lips.
You were like this for a few moments, before you placed a hand on his chest, feeling the fast thrum of his heartbeat, and shot him a beaming smile.
“Well, what are we waiting for? Where might we find your father?”
———
ok so i had so much fun writing that !!! i hope you enjoyed, i could make this a two parter if anyone would want? (either about them discussing w uther or about the wedding itself? please let me know if you’d like either of those!)
requests are still open as i’m finally back writing, but in the meantime here is my masterlist!

Imagine crashing in Arthur's chambers after some tavern drinks...
There was a knock on the wooden door followed by a pause and then another slow knock. Arthur groaned at the noise as it interrupted his peaceful state of mind.
Who was at his chambers so deep into the night?
Sighing, the young prince pulled the covers off and sat up to swing his legs over the edge before taking a stand. Rubbing his face gently with a yawn, Arthur trudged over to his door. Firmly gripping the handle, he propped it open to take a look at his visitor.
Unsurprisingly, the night owl turned out to be his dear friend who was a sporting a lopsided smile.
“Y/n?” He frowned curiously. What were you doing here at this hour?
You placed a finger over your lips and hushed him dramatically.
“Be quiet or the walls will hear you.” You urged.
Arthur rest his head against the door panel and closed his eyes. “You went to the tavern, didn’t you?”
“I drank fun!” You beamed loudly, completely disregarding your previous instruction.
Arthur widened the doorway to let you in and you accepted the invitation. Your footsteps uneven and showed clear signs of mead consumption. Closing the door behind him, Arthur started to feel more awake as he followed you through the chamber.
“Is this any hour to be drunk especially when we have the tournament ceremony tomorrow?” He asked.
You ignored him, laughing to yourself as you poked at the armour on his table. Then you took him by surprise and gasped, pointing a finger at him.
“Are you a knight?”
Arthur rolled his eyes and heaved another exasperated sigh.
“Alright, you’re clearly intoxicated.” He said and walked over to the cabinet standing against the wall opposite his bed. He opened the bottom drawer and pulled out a blanket. Bringing it over to the side of his own bed, Arthur laid the soft fabric on the floor and pulled some of his pillows from his bed top to the ground, creating a makeshift bed.
He went back to you and gently guided you over as you spoke nonsensically.
“You’re a knight. Maybe I'm a knight? I could be a knight in the night."
“You already are.” Arthur reminded softly as you took a seat on the blanket.
You chuckled to yourself and laid back to rest your head on the pillow. “I’m a knight.”
Arthur pulled the top blanket from his bed and draped it over your shoulders. The comfort you were cocooned in quickly caused your eyelids to drop and, before you knew it, you were fast asleep.
Arthur smiled to himself and then climbed into his own bed, returning to his own calming dreams.

Y/n stood not far from the stables as she packed up some of her stuff, getting ready to leave when she heard footsteps and yelling of her name.
“Merlin?” Y/n spoke as she turned to face the people she considered family. She was confused as to what the rush seemed to be.
“Y/n!” merlin shouted again as they all came to a stop around her. “What are you doing?”
Y/n looked to all their faces before looking to the floor feeling slightly ashamed. “Leaving.”
“Leaving Camelot?” Gwen wondered with a furrowed expression like the rest as to why she would be leaving.
“Why?” Lancelot asked feeling concerned about the girl he considered like a sister.
“Arthur found out.” Y/n sighed out softly.
“About your magic?” Merlin questioned now feeling alittle worried.
“Yes. And feels betrayed, as he should.” Y/n added feeling disappointed in herself. It was a lose lose situation. Tell him about her magic and risk losing him or he find out and still lose him. Or worse.
“No, he shouldn’t.” Morgana stated shaking her head ‘no’ as she walked forward to wrap her friend up in a hug. They grew up together, practically sisters. Morgana always trusted Y/n and Y/n always trusted Morgana. It hurt Morgana to see her hurting over stupid Arthur.
Y/n turned to look at Morgana, she could tell the y/h/c-ed girl had unshed tears in her eyes. “Yes, he should. He had every right to feel betrayed and angry. I kept something big from him.”
“No, Y/n. If anything he should understand why you never said anything.” Lancelot agreed with Morgana. With how Arthur was raised, and his views on magic he should’ve understood why Y/n didn’t say anything.
“Doesn’t matter now. He hates me. Arthur hates me now because I possess magic.” Y/n’s voice cracked and it broke their heart to hear. Y/n snuffled and cleared her throat before giving them a tight smile. “So I’m leaving.”
“You can't leave.” Lancelot wanted to change her mind.
“We’ll miss you to much.” Gwen gave her a sad smile.
“Don’t leave. Not because of Arthur.” Morgana scoffed at the future Kings idiocy.
“I value my friendship with all of you. With the other knights, with Gauis. But-” Y/n didn’t want to leave but what was holding her for good anymore. “I don’t have anything holding me here anymore. Not in the way I was. With Arthur and I’s relationship- or even just friendship. I don’t feel welcome in the castle, and if I don't feel welcome where I’m staying what's the point?”
“Your not just staying in the Castle, but in Camelot. We’re-” Lancelot waved around to acknowledge them all who were there. “In Camelot.”
Gwen smiled at Y/n, stopping forward. “You could stay with me.”
“Or me. Gauis loves you.” Merlin added, also smiling at the princess.
“No one want’s you to go.” Morgana pointed out smiling at Y/n. They all would miss her so much if she decided to leave. Who knows when they’d see her again. “You could stay with me. We’re like sisters.”
“I love all of you.” Y/n smiled gratefully at them but she needed time to think. Plus she hadn’t been home in what felt like forever due to her and Arthur's somewhat courtship. “But I think it’s time I go back home. I haven’t been in almost a year.”
As much as it saddened them they all also understood where she was coming from. “You better come visit me.DOn’t leave me alone in that Castle forever okay?” Morgana smiled getting both of them to laugh alittle.
“I won’t.” Y/n smiled at Morgana, who didn’t know that castle needed more women. Y/n looked to Lancelot, Merlin, Gwen, and Morgana smiling at them with a mixture of sadness and happiness. “An your always welcome to come visit me as well. All of you are welcome. Anytime.”
“I’ll miss having you here.” Gwen told her with watering eyes.
“I know.” Y/n gave her a tight smile. She’d miss them to.
“Be careful.” Lancelot stated as he pulled her into a hug, resting his head against hers.
“I will.” Y/n smiled into the hug.
“An expect a visit soon.” Lancelot smiled sending her a wink as they pulled out of the embrace.
Y/n laughed nodding. “Ok.”
“Arthur’s a clotpole.” Merlin said shaking his head at what the princes’ actions were causing.
“Sometimes.” Y/n nodded in agreement. Arthur could be at times.
“Please visit.” Merlin pleaded pulling her into a hug.
Y/n smiled at his actions. “I will. But I need to be home right now.”
With goodbye’s said and hugs done they did try to get her to stay once more, especially once the rest fo knights found out she planned to leave. Y/n decided she had to tell the her main reason for leaving. The things Arthur had said to her since he found out, they were horrible things. About something, she had no control of inheriting. After she told them they all agreed she needed to get out of Camelot for a while, and away from Arthur.
^     ^     ^
“What's with the look’s Morgana?” Arthur grumbled, he was getting fed up with the looks she had been sending him for a while now.
“Screw you, Arthur.” Morgana scoffed before she stalked off out of the castle, pissed.
“What’d I do now?” Arthur asked looking to Gwen for an answer since he was confused.
“No offense your majesty but I agree with Lady Morgana on this particular topic.” Gwen stated before following out where Morgana had went.
Arthur now shocked and even more confused turned to his knights before asking. “What’d I do?”
“Sorry Prince but we-” Gwaine turned guestering to himself and the rest of the knights, then back to himself looking at the prince. “Agree with the women.”
Arthur walked over to Merlin in a slightly dazed state of shock before asking his servant. “Merlin-”
“Don’t look at me sire.” Merlin shook his head, looking away from the prince. In fact, looking anywhere but at Arthur.
“You agree?” Arthur questioned, with raised brows.
“Yeah.” Merlin gave him a quick nod before he pursued his lips together. Leaving Arthur with no real answer.
^     ^     ^
“Have you seen Y/n around, Merlin?” Arthur asked curiously. He hadn’t seen her in a while even though he had been avoiding her. When Merlin stayed quiet Arthur called his name. “Merlin?”
Merlin gulped he decided having to be the one to tell him this sucked. “She’s no longer in the castle, sire.”
“Then where is she staying?” Arthur asked puzzled to where else she would stay.
“At her home.” Morgana stated giving him a deadly look with her eyes.
“Morgana-” Merlin tried to cut in but Morgana wanted to rip Arthur a new one. She’d been holding her tongue long enough.
“No. He should know. After all if he’s just now aksing after a week of her being gone from Camelot, and many more weeks that he had avoided her. He should know what he did. What he caused.” Morgana continued, letting out her thoughts she’s held in.
“What are you talking about, Morgana?” Arthur squinted at Morgana’s rant. Not knowing what she was talking about. Not a clue.
“Y/n left.” Morgana stated plain and simple. Maybe that he’d understand.
“Left?” he repeated now very interested.
“Yes, left. Y/n left Camelot and went home about a week an half ago.” She explained and watched Arthur’s face morph into one of shock. “You look shocked Arthur? Did you really think she’d stay? After you said such horrible things to her. About something she was born with. Something she’s only used to help people with. You ignoring her, not speaking to her, acting as if she did the most terrible thing in the world.”
Arthur sighed. “She has magic Morgana-”
“So what?” Morgana shouted, how could he just forget about all the good times, how could he forget his love for Y/n over something so little. “Not everyone that has magic uses it for evil intentions. Y/n has saved her kingdom, Camelot, my life, yours, she had done nothing but good things with her magic and you made her feel awful about it. . . SHe thought you loved her more than that- hell Arthur most of us thought you loved her more than that. Thought you loved her enough that something like that wouldn’t matter. Guess we were all wrong.”
Arthur felt hurt by all the things Morgana was saying. He knew they were true which also hurt a lot. But magic, he’s been taught it’s evil. Didn’t that matter? “She kept it a -”
Morgana thought she knew Arthur but if he kept this up she knew she’s been dead wrong.
“From you? Yeah, she did. She kept it a secret from everyone the only reason some of us knew was because we caught her saving someone or something.” How could he not see she was scared? How could he not see why she was scared to tell him? “Arthur, don’t you get why she hid it from you? Uther hates people who wield magic. An you sometimes tlk the same, because he taught you to think it’s all bad and to kill them when you find them.”
That stunned Arthur. Y/n actually thought he would hurt her? Is that why she left? She feared for her life and feared him. “She thought I would’ve had her killed?”
Morgana looked at Arthur and really looked at him to see his emotions. He looked distraught in his eyes, so she sighed. “With the things, you said, how you looked at her and then how you treated her after? I would’ve thought you might of if I was in her shoes as well.”
Morgana left to let him think on her words. And he did. Arthur turned to Merlin. “Was I really that awful to her, Merlin?”
“Yeah, Arthur. You were cruel to her.” Merlin admitted to the blonde. He kinda felt for him though.
“y/n really left?” he whispered hoping if he spoke softer his voice wouldn’t crack.
Merlin sighed sadly. “She said she was here because of you. She no longer had you, so she left. Went home.”
“God, Merlin.” Arthur rubbed his hands over his face and then through his hair. “How do I fix this?”
“I don’t think anyone but you can fix it, Arthur.” Merlin told him, it was one of the rare times he actually wanted Merlin's advice. So he was happy to give it to him.
“Yeah. But how do I fix it is the question.” Arthur muttered to himself before he headed off to his room. He needed to think on this one.
^     ^     ^
“You asked to see me, father?” Arthur spoke as he entered the throne room. Hoping he wasn’t in trouble.
“Yes, Arthur. It seems Morgana would like to go visit Y/n. Now since she had gone home she’ll have to travel. I have to much to do so you’ll be escorting her. You and your knights. For Morgana’s safety.” Uther explained to his son. He was way to busy with King Duties to leave Camelot right now. Besides he had other motives for sending his son. Y/n had gone home 2 months ago maybe this was the chance he needed to fix things between them. The chance he’s known Arthur has been looking for.
“Yes, father.” Arthur nodded, ready to leave now if possible.
“You all leave tomorrow so inform your knights. All of you should pack tonight.” Uther stated.
“Yes, father.” Arthur answered turning to leave to go inform his knights to pack.
“And Arthur.” Uther spoke up stopping Arthur before he could leave through the double doors. “I don’t know what happened between the two of you, but you might want to fix it.”
Arthur nodded in understanding. “I have a plan.”
“Good. Now go pack.” Uther dismissed his son to leave the room.
“Yes, Father.” Arthur said before leaving the room, nervous and excited.
^     ^     ^
“So where are we heading out to this time, Prince?” Lancelot asked as they finished packing up the horses.
“Valmore.” Arthur stated as they got ready to head out.
Everyone looked at eachother in question before Gwaine spoke up. “Valmore?”
“Isn’t that-?” Leon questioned out loud looking to the others for confirmation.
“Y/n’s kingdom.” Morgana finished and confirmed with a nod and smile. Morgana mounted her horse. “Yes, it is. I miss my friend.”
“So we’re visiting.” Arthur stated as he to mounted his horse and the others followed.
“So, do you have a plan?” Merlin asked as he came up beside the prince also on a horse like the others.
“Yes, Merlin. I have a plan.” Arthur rolled his eyes at his servant's question.
“Is it good?” Merlin turned his head to look at the prince.
Arthur scoffed and turned to glare at the scrawny manservant that gets on his nerves all the time. “Yes, it’s good, Merlin. I don’t have bad plans.”
Merlin squinted and gave a tilt of his head, teasing the prince. “Well…”
“Back off Merlin.” Arthur stated before he went ahead of everyone else, leading the way.
“He have a plan?” Gwen asked as her and Merlin became parallel on their horses.
Merlin shrugged his shoulders at Gwen's question. “Says he does.”
“It better be a good one.” Morgana said riding next to the two. Morgana hoped Arthur would pull his head out of his ass and fix things with Y/n. She missed her friend and truthfully she was worried about Arthur. He’d been different since Y/n had been gone, not the bright Arthur he was usually was.
“Hopefully.” Merlin sighed.

Headcanons for what Arthur Pendragon would be like in bed...
Tumblr media
He's cocky as shit. He knows that he's good in bed and he isn't quiet about it. He's an arrogant shit but it's honestly kinda sexy.
He flirts all the damn time, too much sometimes. He'll just come up to you, whispering in your ear how he could make you scream in mere minutes. Your cheeks flush and your heart races as heat pools between your legs and he knows it. He loves leaving you flustered.
As cocky as he is, you might think that he would only care about his satisfaction but oh god no, Arthur worships you. He will spend hours pleasing you, pleasuring you to the point of exhaustion and over stimulation.
He loves to tease you. Loves to make you beg for him, make you beg for your sweet release. He loves turning you on and then making you wait a while until you get your hands on him.
He always jokes that the castle shakes when he makes you orgasm with how loud you get.
He kisses you everywhere, worshipping every part of your body, but he also loves when you worship him. He loves when you kiss, touch, lick, even bite him everywhere. He loves feeling your lips and hands on you, loves feeling worshipped.
"I am a Prince after all. I deserve to be worshipped."
Arthur's more dominant, loves taking control, pinning you down and ravaging you and your body. He loves leaving you with lovebites all over your body, he loves the rest of the Kingdom knowing that you're his and his alone.
Although more dominant, he does also enjoy when you take charge every once in a while. Loves when you tell him where you want him, loves when you boss him about for a change.
The cuddles afterwards are warm and sticky with his arm pulling you close to him as he presses gentle kisses to your forehead.

The prince of my heart
Tumblr media
Arthur Pendragon x reader
Plot: you were forced to marry Arthur Pendragon but not everything goes according to plan until…
Angst with happy ending
Warnings: none I think but if you find any, tell me and I’ll add them
Plus English is not my first language so there could be some mistakes
P.S. if you know Italian you can preorder my book here:
When I was told that I would marry Prince Arthur Pendragon I was so happy, I had heard so many good stories about him, his courage, his loyalty, and I was sure that mine would be a happy marriage, that I would be envied by every lady in the realm. Then came the wedding day, I was woken up at dawn so I could prepare myself perfectly, to match the beauty of my soon to be husband. I crossed the aisle to reach him in front of all the imported members of the kingdom with trembling legs and an excited smile, and for a few moments, as they made us husband and wife, Arthur smiled at me sweetly. For a moment I really believed I had realised my dream. Until, immediately after the ceremony, during the banquet, I realised the looks he directed at his half-sister's servant. Gwen, over time I had learned that to be her name. Arthur spent only a few nights with me, to carry out his task as a husband, and the rest of the time he took refuge in his royal tasks, ignoring me altogether. I had learned not to let it hurt me, I had become friends with Morgana and we spent a lot of time together, chatting, reading, walking. She had the foresight not to put me and her servant in the same room at the same time, not because I could do something unpleasant, but because she cared about my suffering, and had the sensibility of not throwing in my face that my husband was in love with another. A woman who had nothing in common with me and whom I could never replace. No matter how hard I try, bringing him food when I know he doesn't have time to reach the room to sit at the table with us, no matter how hard I try to understand him, help him, to take away the burden that weighs on his shoulders, due to having to carry the crown one day. The only answer I get, in return, is the humiliation of seeing him smile and chattering amiably in public with Gwen. The same Gwen who now pours wine to him, blushing at something he's telling her, but that I, despite being by her side, can't hear.
-Do you like the party, dear husband?- I decide to ask, when the brunette walks away from him. Arthur turns to look at me for a single moment before returning to enjoy the show of the dancers in front of us while nodding his head
-A lot, wife. Thank you. Although I have to admit that I don't understand why you may have organised all this, when in the village many complain that they don't have enough food to feed themselves- his words hit me like blades. Merlin, who had approached us perhaps to say something to his master, freezes on the spot and takes a worried look at me. Sometimes it happened that he found me in some secluded corner of the castle, so as not to be seen while I was crying, and tried to console me. I sketch a smile at him looking at me with pity, holding back my tears and clearing my voice.
-This is why I asked for a party to be held in the village as well, so that everyone can celebrate the endeavours and successes of their future king, and can eat as they deserve. Now if you will excuse me I'm very tired, I think I'll go to rest- I just answer, I move the chair away and, without him deigning me of a look, I leave the room. One of the first things I asked, after understanding Arthur's feelings towards Gwen, was to have a bedroom of my own. My husband did not discuss my application at all and had me prepare rooms where I could stay, and where he comes to visit me when he has to fulfil his task. Over time, this room has become my refuge, and days happen when I don't go out at all, letting Elizabeth, my personal servant, bring me food. When I close the door behind me and lean against it to take deep breaths, I hear the sound of footsteps and then a hand knocking.
-(Y/N), it's me, dear. Open the door- Morgana's voice comes to me muffled by the wood, I hurry to dry my cheeks moistened by the few tears that escaped me and effort a smile as I open the door. She hugs me, right after closing the door behind her.
-Arthur is an ungrateful fool. Tomorrow I'll talk to him and you'll see if he won't bring you more respect soon. All the ladies have heard his answer and are doing nothing but comment- she whispers to me angrily, as she passes a hand through my hair to untie them from the hairstyle I had prepared specifically for him.
-It's all right, Morgana. There is no need for you to talk to him- I murmur away from his arms, before finding myself bent in two by pain, with broken breath.
-(Y/N), what's going on? I call someone right away, I'm going to call Gaius- exclaims the alarmed brunette, I try to tell her that there is no need, that in my condition it is normal, my mother always told me, to prepare me and not be scared, but from my mouth comes nothing but a moan of pain. Morgana, therefore, helps me sit on the bed and runs out. A few minutes later he returns followed by Gaius, but my pain is waning.
-I would still like to carry out checks, if it's okay with you- proposes the old man, and although I try to refuse, the princess insists that my health be checked and so some time later Gaius is confirming what until now for me was a hypothesis that I was hiding behind wider skirts.
-You are pregnant, my lady- her words are followed by a shocked verse of Morgana looking at me excitedly. With my heart in my throat I sit down
-I ask you, please, not to tell anyone. Not yet. I'll think about making the announcement. Please- I ask letting my gaze swing from one to the other. They both nod, understanding, and let me rest.
The next day I decide to stay in the room all morning, Elizabeth brings me food and Morgana comes to visit me to keep some company. She asks me to join them for dinner and I don't want to disappoint her. So I get ready, wearing one of my most beautiful dresses and, slowly, I walk to the room where we will eat. As soon as I enter I have just enough time to hear voices arguing before hiding so I can listen. The parlour is still empty, except for Arthur, Merlin and Morgana.
-What do you want me to tell you, Morgana? We are married and I do my best with her, but I still don't know her so well- Arthur's voice is annoyed, I hear the sound of wine being poured and then Morgana talking.
-You could at least stop the rumours that are going around, you are the prince and she is your wife. You should bring her more respect- scolds him -if you knew how sad she was last night for how you addressed her, after spending the whole week organising that stupid banquet, also taking care that the people received part of the food so as not to upset them- she continues, stubborn. Arthur sighs and, before things can degenerate, I decide to fake my arrival as if I hadn't listened to anything.
-(Y/N), what a nice thing to see you. Tonight you look great! - exclaims Morgana, the first to see me. Merlin gives me a smile as Arthur turns to look at me and stands up coming towards me.
-I apologise for my behaviour last night, (Y/N), I should have been nicer to you- he turns to me as he moves my chair to make me sit down. I smile at him, pretending not to know that his words are only due to the half-sister' request, and I take a seat. When Uther also reaches us, we eat in silence. Morgana, sitting in front of me, throws looks at me smiling. She wants me to make my announcement but I don't feel ready yet.
-I think (Y/N) wants to announce something- she says out of the blue, I incinerate her with my eyes when everyone's eyes are on me. With my heart in my throat I rest my cutlery next to the plate and clear my voice, but when I open my mouth to speak my head starts spinning quickly and, when I try to get up, I lose my balance and fall. Arthur grabs me in time, preventing me from hurting myself and everything becomes very confusing.
I open my eyes again to find myself in a room that is not mine. I look around confused. I remember my head spinning like crazy and then everything went dark. I try to get up, recognising Arthur's room.
-Easy, you're still not strong enough to get up, Gaius said to be careful. That in your condition you shouldn't get tired- it's my husband's voice the first thing I hear, a few seconds later it appears in my field of view. Between his hands he has a tray full of food and puts it on my legs before arranging my pillow and asking me how I feel. As an answer I move the head up and down, scrutinising what's on the tray.
-I asked the cook to prepare your favourite dishes and brought them to you so you don't have to get out of bed- explains noticing my obvious confusion. I mention a smile before murmuring a thank you and drink some orange juice. Silence reigns for a few moments.
-Why didn't you tell me, (Y/N)?- Arthur asks while I'm chewing some meat. Judging by the sunlight it must be early afternoon. I feel disoriented and I would like to burst into tears in front of his disappointed look, so I down mine.
-I wasn't sure until the night of the party. When I returned to my room, an illness struck me while talking to Morgana and Gaius came to check my health. He gave me the confirmation and... I was thinking about the right way to tell you, the perfect opportunity. I didn't want to bother you as with the party- I murmur in a low voice, Arthur doesn't answer me right away, in fact he takes his place by my side, on the free side of the bed. Hunger has passed so I move the tray away but he puts it back on my legs.
-I'm sorry, I was insensitive. Ever since we got married, I've done everything to keep you away from me, hiding behind my duties, because I was afraid. I remember my father's suffering when my mother died, she accompanied him for much of my childhood, and even now when someone appoints her, sadness can be seen in his eyes. I didn't want us to bond sentimentally because I'm terrified that what happened to them could happen to us, I was convinced that if I kept you away... we could become friends and nothing more- he confides and when I look up, in the middle of his speech, I meet his gaze full of regret and sadness.
-But with Gwen you don't seem to be so terrified- I comment, playing with a piece of bread next to the meat still almost completely intact. Arthur watches me confused, for a few moments.
-Gwen?- he questions, in fact, before he widens his eyes as if he just understood and bursts out laughing. Is he making fun of me? With red cheeks from humiliation I take the tray off my legs again and get up, but he immediately stops the laughter, gets out of bed and runs to my side to stop me. When I try to push him away he grabs me by the arms and, taking advantage of my momentary weakness, imprisons me against his body.
-Please don't leave. There is nothing between me and Gwen. Believe me- he talks with his face a few centimetres from mine, my breath breaks, I look him in the eyes and I would like to believe him. With all my heart. But I can't.
-Don't make fun of me, Arthur, I see the complicity between you, and I hear how the women of the realm talk about you when they think I'm not listening. It's already quite humiliating like that, I don't need you to lie to me shamelessly- furious comment, I try to squirm again, but Arthur blocks my arms behind my back and, in doing so, our faces come even closer. I hold my breath, feeling my stomach upside down.
-There is nothing between me and Gwen, (Y/N)- he repeats, without taking his eyes off mine. I feel the mattress pressing against the back of my legs but I don't fall on it because Arthur is holding me against his chest. The intense look chained to mine, his fresh scent enters my nostrils, while the sun coming in through the window surrounds him almost as if he were an angel.
-So why are you always with her? You talk, laugh, why do you do with her what I would like you to do with me so much? Why do you let them talk about me in the realm like the unsuspecting stupid and betrayed wife? - I ask, breathless for the discussion but also for the closeness. Arthur breathes deeply before answering.
-I didn't think you listened to the rumours- he just murmur, with a bitter laugh I take advantage of his loosening his grip on me and forcefully push him away so I can leave, but he grabs me from behind, clutching me from the waist. My back against his chest, as he shakes my hands to hold me steady and weaves our fingers over my belly, where right now our baby is forming. He puts his forehead against my neck.
-Believe me, there is nothing between me and Gwen. She feels something for Merlin and I'm helping her conquering him- he murmurs against my skin, his warm breath gives me chills -and she helps me, because it's since you became my wife a month ago that I've been constantly torn between keeping you away to protect you and running to you to hold you in my arms, even if only to breathe your scent, which is so good. When you asked to have your private rooms I was about to deny it, I didn't understand why you wanted to stay away from me. Gwen explained to me that it was my behaviour that hurt you and, despite asking me to talk to you and clarify with you, I didn't listen to her and I was a fool. Please believe me if I tell you that there is nothing between me and her- add slightly tightening the grip around my body. I let myself go slightly against him, leaning my head back against his shoulder. I close my eyes, holding back tears of relief. It's not true that he loves Gwen.
-Can you forgive me? I promise that from now on I will spend all my time winning you back- he whispers moving his face from my neck and starting to leave kisses along my cheek and on my temple. I turn around in his arms and open my eyes to look at him. He is already looking at me, full of hope.
-You will put an end to the rumours that go around about us- I start talking, he nods. -And when we are in public you will never talk to me again like at the party- I add, he nods leaning his forehead against mine, murmuring a series of "I promise you". I place one hand on his chest.
-When I do something for the palace, I always strive to help the people as well. I would never have let them starve while we were feasting- I still talk, he squeezes me from the hips and inhales my scent
-I'm sorry, I was a fool- he murmurs against my ear, then leaves me a little kiss. -Will you go back to share the room with me?- he asks right after, a trembling breath escapes from my mouth.
-Yes, I'll be back to share the room with you. But until the baby is born, you will never leave me alone. I'm terrified- I whisper letting my fingers slip through his hair. He raises his face to look at me again and smiles.
-I will never leave you again, even when the baby is born. I promise- he whispers and waits for me to give him consent before kissing me. For the first time, since the wedding day, our lips meet in a sweet, delicate way, full of feeling, instead of hasty, during a relationship that once concluded will take us even further away. Arthur squeezes me against him, moaning in my mouth, and smiling in the kiss.
-But now eat, we don't want what happened last night to happen again, don't we?- he asks when he gets away from me and helps me get back to bed. I see him walking towards the door and I frown.
-Where are you going?- I ask when he is on the threshold, he turns to me without stopping smiling
-I’ll order to prepare your things to come back here. Then I will come to you and help you eat, you're still weak. And I will warn my father that for the rest of the day I will be here to take care of my wife and our future baby- his words warm my heart, and my stomach fills with warmth especially because he really does. He orders the servants to prepare my things, talks to his father and then comes back to me, letting me lean against his chest and feeding me slowly, until I eat everything he had brought. Since then the rumours circulating in court have ceased, and Arthur and I make up for lost time by being together every moment when he is not committed to his duties. Finally everything is fine.

Imagine 5 || king arthur
Tumblr media

-
He started to notice it slowly, when your smile wasn't quite as big as normal. And when your eyes didn't shine as brightly as they had before. But he really started to question it when he did not see you as often. And when he did, you seemed to barely have the time or energy to speak to him.
Finding Gwen one day, he asked her what was going on. You always excused it as being busy, and not getting a lot of sleep. But he wasn't sure. He knew you were not telling him everything. This was confirmed when Gwen told him the full story.
You were busy, and you weren't getting any sleep. Recently, almost all of the the tutors and teachers in Camelot had fallen ill or moved away, and you were one of the few left behind. So more and more you were called on to help the families of Camelot, even dragged in to watch over the children when they were alone. You had barely had a moment to yourself recently.
Arthur felt guilty when he heard about this, but even more so that he hadn't noticed earlier how overwhelmed you were. But he decided that he wanted to help you, or to at least cheer you up.
So here he was, standing at your door, waiting for the moment you would return. He looked around restlessly, tapping his fingers rhythmically. Looking down at his chest, he spotted a clump of potato on his shirt. Quickly brushing it away, he looked up, feeling a jolt when he saw you round the corner.
You looked down at your feet as you made your way to your home, glad you had only been asked by a few people to cover for their normal tutors. You wanted some time to relax, and you were hungry.
Looking up, you halted in your step for a moment as you saw Arthur standing by your door. He smiled at you, waving lightly. The way he seemed restless made you nervous.
Walking the rest of the way to your door you smiled softly at him. "Hello Arthur. Is something wrong?"
"Huh? No, I just wanted to see you." He smiled as he leaned down, pressing a kiss to your cheek. You felt your face warm a bit at the action. "I haven't really had the chance recently."
You felt a little guilty as you nodded your head. "Yes, I know, I'm sorry, I've just been-"
"Busy?" He smiled down at you, almost a sad smile. "Gwen told me. Why didn't you let me know? I could have helped."
You let out a soft chuckle. "How? You want to tutor unruly children?"
"Oh, definitely not. But, now that I know, I was able to convince my father to send out an announcement to nearby villages and cities letting them know that we are in need of tutors and teachers."
Your eyes widened a bit. "Oh." You shook your head, feeling a sudden wave of foolishness. "I wasn't aware you could do that so easily."
Arthur chuckled softly, placing his hands on your shoulders and a kiss on your forehead. "It's alright, it's done now. Soon you will be able to go back to your normal schedule, and I will actually be able to see you again."
You smiled as you looked back up at him. "Thank you Arthur."
"You're welcome, and, I am sorry."
You furrowed your brow. "Sorry for what?"
He glanced at your door before clearing his throat and pushing it open. Slowly, you walked into your home, immedietely noticing the dishes on the counter, and the food on the table. Potatoes, a slightly burnt chicken, rolls that may or may not be as hard as rocks, some vegetables and two goblets of wine.
"You made me dinner?" You asked with a surprised smile.
"Uh, well, I attempted too yes. Gwen told me what to do, but...I'm not great at remembering this sort of thing."
You giggled, walking over to the table, before looking back at him with a bright smile. "Well, however it turned out, I appreciate the gesture. I've never seen you attempt to cook."
Walking up to you, he stared down at you. "And you probably never will."
You laughed and pressed your head to his chest. Arthur felt his heart swell, so glad to hear your laugh again, and see that same bright shining smile on your face.
Looking back up at him you shook your head softly. "I love you Arthur Pendragon."
He smiled down at you, gently bushing your cheek with his thumb. "And I love you. But, you might want to hold that thought until we find out if I accidentally poisoned you."
Letting out a giddy laugh, you pressed your hands onto his chest, leaning up, you pressed a quick kiss on his lips. "Well even if you did, I will die happy."
xx End xx

Are You That Dense?
summary : what do they do when their crush is oblivious of their feelings.
word count : 0.5k
type : headcanons
pairing/s involved : Arthur / Merlin / Morgana x Reader
warning/s : it's kinda sad on Merlin's part (at least for me)
here is my masterlist!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Arthur
Arthur would be clueless as you are, maybe even worse.
The prince of Camelot wasn't raised to process his feelings properly (no thanks to dear old daddy), so he thinks his infatuation is under the pretense of friendship.
Many find it hilarious. Everyone knows how much Arthur loves you... except the two of you.
He just doesn't understand why he's always wanting more than the platonic affections you give him, yearning for you when you're not around, or thinking about you all the time.
Don't get me wrong, he knows he enjoys your company. Both his whole world and time stops when he's with you; the heavy responsibilities of the crown and endless problems are temporarily forgotten.
Arthur also feels the need to impress you, sometimes more than Uther. He already likes showing off to a crowd but when you're watching him? There will be 1000x more effort.
"Why do I feel this way, Merlin?"
"You are in love with (Y/N), clotpole."
"Oh. I suppose you're right."
"Is this the moment where you order me to get her flowers?"
"...Yes."
Tumblr media
Merlin
I'm sorry but Merlin prefers it that way.
As much as he desperately wants to to straight up confess to you— to be able to touch you, kiss you, and love you openly, he doesn't want to put you in danger.
Apart from a secret that will get him executed, he deals with dark entities all the time and those will eventually catch up to him. He can't risk it, especially if it's you.
There will be a lifetime of labor and hardships if you choose to be with a manservant. Being with a druid will likely get you hurt or killed too. You deserve better than what he can offer. You deserve better than him.
His feelings for you may not be obvious as Arthur's but for people who are perceptive (ehem Gwen maybe?), they will encourage him to court you. He'll only reply that there's no use and you'll never see him as something more than a friend, especially if you're a noble or royalty.
However, Merlin is only human. There will be times when he can't help himself, giving you small gifts or favors he won't do for anyone (even Arthur).
"Thanks for the help, Merlin."
"I would do anything for you, (Y/N)."
"Why?"
"Uhh... Cause we're friends, right?"
Tumblr media
Morgana
Morgana will make you her own amusement.
Best believe she will test you, to see how long can you remain unaware of her feelings. It entertains her to no end, better than the performers Uther hires in banquets.
She will go all out— giving you all sorts of touches that's reserved for lovers, bringing you expensive presents, always spending time with you, and even kissing you in both public and in private.
Morgana will search for any reaction on your face every time. But you just continue to innocently smile and thank her for being a 'good friend'.
Everyone thinks you two are dating because of her public display of affection but you shrug it off whenever someone asks you about it. Morgana, on the hand, just smirks and winks.
If it takes too long and she begins to get impatient, she will just knock on your door and confess her love.
"I am in love with you, (Y/N)."
"You are?"
"YES! How can you be so blind—"
"I thought we're just friends?"
"HOW IS MAKING OUT WITH YOU, PLATONIC?"
Until then, she and Gwen will be laughing at your obliviousness as they enjoy their afternoon tea.

Arthur(Merlin) x reader - in the snow
Tumblr media
Hi! If you still write for BBC Merlin would you be able to write an Arthur x Merlin sister Reader? With the dialogue “Can you use magic?” “I feel unsafe answering that.” (from your 2024 prompt list). Thank you if you do write it! <3 - Anon💜
A/N: I realised I had spelled Gaius wrong after finishing this, but I’m really lazy and don’t wanna correct it 😂😭
You had no real interest in following your brothers footsteps to work for the royal family, you didn’t want to work for anybody else.
You were happy living on your own, away from the world with your house and your dog, your horse, your flowers.
You loved the way you lived.
And yes, every so often the knights would come to pick up your money you had to pay for your land, but since you grew your own food and sold your crafts in towns and villages it didn’t matter all that much to you.
Today was the day that they came to collect your payment, so you made sure to stay home.
Kneeling down in your garden, you were working on your flowers, carefully tidying them up and trimming them down.
You heard a bark, and you looked up.
“Rufus?”
Standing up, you brushed your hands on the cloth and looked to the dirt path where a few horses were coming down.
You grinned brightly when you saw a familiar face.
“Merlin!”
You quickly set everything down and made your way over, the moment your brother got down from his horse your crushed him into a hug.
“Hi!” You beamed.
Merlin laughed quietly, hugging you back.
“Hey, this place looks amazing.”
You pulled away, grinning proudly at him.
“I take pride in my work.”
You turned around to the knights and the prince that was with him, offering him a bow.
It was swift, elegant, you held a hand behind your back and one over your stomach as you leant down, lowering your head.
“Sire, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m (Y/N), I do hope my brother doesn’t give you too much trouble.”
“Nothing I can’t handle, thank you. It’s nice to meet you.”
You stood up, gesturing to the home.
“Rufus is no harm, I’m sure Sir Lancelot knows that.”
The knight smiled softly at you.
“It’s good to see you again.”
“You as well, I’ve got that tea you asked me for, would you like me to make you some?”
“Yes please, honestly you could open a tea shop because you make the best tea.”
You laughed a little bit, leading them all inside.
Only those three came inside, the other knights waited outside for them.
You sat them at a table, bringing over some bread you had made, and you made them all some tea, setting their cups down in front of them.
“Make yourselves at home, I’ll be right back.”
You went into your room, bringing up a floorboard to gather the money you owed before returning and handing it over.
Then you turned to Arthur.
“May I ask what brings you by sire? Normally this is not a matter for a Prince.”
“Merlin had been begging me for weeks to come, i guess it was curiosity to finally meet his sister. You’ve done wonderful things with this land. It was rundown the last I saw.”
“Thank you, the home itself was in good shape, it was a simple matter of getting some men from the village nearby to help clear it then set everything else up.”
Arthur nodded his head.
“How is it going? Have you been selling those crafts?” Merlin asked.
“Oh yes! People love them! They’re very helpful as well, especially for the farmers and the bakers, plant based baskets are easier to replace rather wood, and harder to break.”
Merlin nodded his head.
“You make things out of plants?”
“Yes sire, it is easier to get ahold of around here, they’re easier to work with as well. Especially Ivy. It is easy to manipulate the way it grows, and you can cut some away with the rest coming back.”
That was what caught his attention first, how compared to Merlin you were calmer, you were respectful to everybody even though you didn’t know them, and your craft.
Then there was your house, minimum decorations, just basic things you would need.
But outside was covered in flowers of all colours, the great wolfhound you rescued wondering in and out, and the horse outside just happily grazing in her paddock.
Arthur found himself coming back when he could, pretending to buy things that they needed in Camelot.
It was an excuse to see you, and he could try get there at least once a week since it was only a few hours there and back.
Arthur had to admit he was concerned when it drew to winter, because winter was harsh, and he couldn’t see how you would be able to survive there during the brutal winter.
“She’ll be fine, she always is. She knows how to get survive.” Merlin said.
“Merlin we are looking at the worst winter we’ve seen in years. It’s not even winter and we’re already getting snow. Your sister will be isolated out there for months if this carried on.”
Merlin paused what he was doing for a moment before he carried on.
“She won’t come here.”
“Excuse me?”
“(Y/N), if you ask her to come she won’t come.”
“Why?”
“Because she likes her own space, she doesn’t like crowded places like this and wouldn’t be able to live here for that long, a week or so would be fine.”
Arthur didn’t say anything, he carried on reading the book that was sat on the table in front of him.
“She’s also coming next week, to visit Guis.”
Arthur snapped his head up.
“Really?”
Merlin smirked a little, lowering his head as he carried on working.
“Yes sire.”
Arthur threw the book at Merlin who just barely dodged it and he left the room.
You arrived a few days later, staying mostly with Guis or Merlin if you could.
Arthur finally managed to find you while he was heading back inside the castle, you were stood outside with Rufus catching snowballs you threw.
He made his way outside, standing next to you.
“It’s far too cold to be outside.”
You turned around, offering him a smile.
“It’s nothing I’m not sure to this time of year, I was actually thinking about taking a walk. Do you know any good trails?”
“There is one, it’s possibly the safest. I’ll accompany you if you don’t mind? If anything happens to you I won’t hear the end of it from Merlin.”
You laughed softly at him.
“Yes fine by me sire.”
“Right, come wait inside.”
You followed him, and waited in the hallway.
It took a short while for him to come back, and he held out a thicker more elegant cloak out for you.
“Wear this.”
“Sire I can’t, that’s much to rich for somebody like me.”
“(Y/N) put the cloak on, and call me Arthur.”
You didn’t want to disobey him, so you put it on and he led you outside.
You could see that a few people walked the trail, but not many, and you two held light conversation as you walked.
It was nice for him to not have to act so important, and you were talking to him just like a normal person, as if you two were from the same town or village.
You enjoyed stopping to look at simple things, animals in the snow, the way the sunlight gleamed on the snow making it sparkle.
Arthur was just entranced by you, and how you just seemed so happy.
“You’re always so happy when I see you, why?”
“What is there to not be happy about? I have a home, a brother, a mother, I have friends, food. There is always something to be happy about.”
Arthur hummed a little, nodding his head.
“You wouldn’t want more in life?”
“Not when I already have everything. You don’t need to be rich to be happy, as long as you find something or someone that makes you happy it’s alright.”
Arthur glanced at you, and he smiled a little.
“That’s a very different take in the world.”
You beamed brightly at him, kneeling down to make another snowball for Rufus.
“Hey, look out!”
Arthur went to grab you but it was too late, you slipped down the hill, and he was rushing as fast as he could behind you.
When he reached the bottom he knelt down.
“Hey, hey (Y/N)?”
You grumbled a little, lifting your head to look at him.
“Hey, are you okay? Are you hurt?”
“My leg.”
Arthur nodded, looking down at your leg, gently touching it and you winced in pain.
“Here, come on, let’s move you up.”
Arthur helped you up, and you guys slowly walked along the bottom of the hill to try and find a way back up.
After a while you had to stop, so he took his cloak off and laid it on the snow and sat you down.
Rufus laid next to you letting out a whine.
“I’ll try find a way, I’ll be right back.”
You nodded your head, watching him leave.
You knew there wasn’t going to be one, a hill like that there wasn’t going to be a way back up that wasn’t covered in snow.
Making sure it was safe, you held out your hand, whispering something under your breath, and a small trail in the snow fell away, creating a path up.
You ran a hand over your dogs head, scratching behind his ears.
Arthur wasn’t gone long, and he came back, shaking his head.
“I couldn’t find one, I’m sorry.”
He knelt next to you, looking at your leg again.
“I did find some sticks though, do you have anything in that bag to help me make a splint?”
“Oh, of course.”
Opening it, you pulled out your scarf, handing it over to him.
“It’s not the best, but it should help. We’ll sit here and rest, then keep going. I think there’s a storm coming in.”
“I think I saw a path just over there, could you look?”
Arthur looked at where you were pointing.
“Yeah, of course.”
He got up, checking.
He made sure it was stable before grabbing you, helping you up it, then he crouched down.
“Get on.”
“I can’t do that, a Prince can’t be seen carrying someone like me.”
“I don’t care, you’re hurt, get on.”
You sighed, climbing on his back and he stood up, making his way back where you guys had come from.
“I’ll take you to Guis, hopefully you leg isn’t that bad.”
You nodded, resting your chin on his shoulder.
“How did you see the path, I didn’t see it.”
“Maybe in the panic you missed it? Or it blended in the with snow?”
“No, no it definitely wasn’t there.”
Arthur went quiet for a few moment.
“There’s only one thing I can think off.”
“What’s that Arthur?”
He paused walking, crouching down to set you on the ground before turning around to look at you.
“Can you use magic?”
You tried not to react.
“I feel unsafe answering that.”
“(Y/N), can you use magic?
“If I say yes you’ll have me killed, if I say no you’re not going to believe me, and have me killed. I’m sorry but I can’t answer.”
Arthur narrowed his eyes a little bit, and he spun around to a noise behind him but there was nothing.
Turning back around his cloak and yours were on the ground, and you and Rufus were both gone, leaving not even a footprint in the snow

The nights seemed longer to Arthur since his father had died. Funeral preparations led way to coronation preparations with no break in between. There was barely any time to mourn let alone time to process the fact that he was to be the new king of Camelot. Some nights he would sit alone in bed half longing for sleep and half longing to be anyone else. Life may not be easier if he wasn't royalty but perhaps it might be simpler.
He wondered if the decisions in his life had been the right ones. He wondered if the people he has trusted throughout his right were the right people to confide in. He questioned everything, there had been expectations put on him from a young age and he knew there would be expectations put on him from the people of Camelot. He only hoped that he could lead the kingdom into a new age rather than thrust it back into the dark.
There was no one he could speak to on these issues, not really. He knew what Merlin would say, knew it would probably be some form of reassurance. While he was aware it would be a gesture of kindness and none of the words from Merlin would be lies, it still would not be the sort of truth that he was seeking. Not the words that he might be desperate to hear and yet fear to be told.
Arthur had made mistakes in his life, he recognized them for what they were when they occurred. Still he had not truly learned how to atone for mistakes which could easily be remedied, or maybe not easily but remedied all the same. He kept trying to convince himself that he had made the correct decision, that he hadn't made a mistake distancing himself from you. Distancing himself from one of the few people who knew him as he truly was.
He had loved you, still loved you. He just didn't want you to be swept up in the sea of grief and fear that had surrounded him as of late. It wasn't easy to push you away, it pained him but he fought the pain by convincing himself that you would be better off. You weren't royalty, you had no title to speak of and yet he loved you, something that was considered forbidden by his father, even more by all the court. Back then he didn't care, hadn't thought of his future as king.
And wasn't that all that mattered, the way that he was seen? His perception as king could lead to the growth of the kingdom, to alliances or to wars all the same. What kind of a person would he be if he put you in that situation? Yet night after night you were the one person that made it into his thoughts the most. Arthur wondered if he could live with the regret, if one day he would look back on the moments he was living through and feel no remorse, nothing of pain. Sorrow would be wiped away, he had to believe that. Didn't he?
Sleep seemed to consistently evade him. Merlin noticed, Gaius noticed, all the knights noticed. No one knew what to say, no one truly knew the cause although many suspected. Sorrow seemed to follow both you and Arthur although only Arthur's could be associated with the death of his father.
It was not unusual to see you in the company of Arthur, what became unusual was to see the two of you apart. To see the looks given in longing that seemed to be missed by one or the other. But there wasn't reason enough to get involved, not reason enough to make comments because assumptions weren't the same as fact.
Nightmares seemed to fill Arthur's sleep. He hadn't been sleeping well in the first place, stilled filled with fear over what was to come, any faults he might make in the weeks after the coronation. There wasn't much time left before then, wasn't much time before the fate of the kingdom was fully within his hands, where the advisors would keep from the decisions unless he questioned them.
Foolishness had been something his father accused of him as a child, he wondered if truly he had been foolish or innocent. He wondered now if his decision to pull away from you was foolish or was it a rational idea. All that he knew was that in the moment with the fear and the nightmares, you were the one person he wished to speak to, the one person that he knew might listen and understand. Still, forgiveness for what he had done was not to be easily given, this he knew. He also knew that perhaps it was not right for him to seek you out, to lay the burden of his life at your feet.
He stayed there, staring at the ceiling willing himself to fall back to sleep, hoping that the dreams to come would be peaceful and not terror filled.
Night after night Arthur experienced the nightmares. There was no rest to be had, the coronation was only four days away and he wasn't certain of the last time he had truly slept. While he knew it was potentially dangerous, he slipped out of bed, dressed himself for the first time since Merlin had become his servant, and slipped outside of the castle walls.
You were preparing for the coronation, nights spent working at your kitchen table working long into the night, sometimes even into the early morning. While most certainly would not be wearing armor to the coronation, the knights had a duty to which meant mending any and all pieces that had been damaged not just in battles but even in the midst of sparring. While there were days that you would have spent hours mending armor, you were never one to stay up until the dawn to finish your work, knowing that rest was what kept you from making mistakes and knowing that the cost of replenishing candles was often too much when you needed food and clothing for yourself.
Still, the coronation changed everything, made work pile up. Orders for new pieces of armor rose almost as fast as orders for repairs. Night after night you'd sit staring at the smaller pieces that you could bring from the armory without difficulty. Night after night you meant to keep your focus on work rather than drift off to sleep.
Arthur was unsure where he was going or what he was doing, wandering around outside of the castle. He traveled to the marketplace, passing stalls that would not be open until the morning, passing houses that had covered windows, informing him that the people of Camelot were in their beds performing that sweet task of sleep that he was desperate for.
A shadow passed your window, stopping for a moment. There had been no trouble in Camelot for some time and while you knew you might be walking into danger you wondered who would be at your door at this time of night. Gripping the mallet you had been using to smooth out dents in armor you opened your door only to be met with the sight of Arthur walking past. You called out to him.
Arthur had noticed the light coming from your home, but in his half asleep and worry riddled state hadn't identified it as your home until you had opened it. He turned to rush off before you recognized him but heard his name before any chance at an escape could be made. He paused, trying to determine if he really should turn, if there was anything that you would want to hear from him after all that he'd put you through. But then he knew at least he owed you an explanation. He turned to towards you and all he could see was the worry that had come over you. He followed you inside and sat at the only other chair around the table.
You hadn't quite known what to say to break the silence so you asked the only question you could.
"Why are you out of the castle, Arthur?"
He sat silent for a moment before deciding on the honest answer, "I haven't slept in days, not like I should be. There's nightmares, there's fear."
"And what does the future king have to be afraid of?" You questioned, although you knew the answer.
"All the decisions, the fate of Camelot, it all weighs on me now. I have no one to come and fix my mistakes, I could be a horrible king or I could be a great king there's nothing that tells me if what I choose is right. I'm afraid that my father's faults will become my own. I'm afraid I've already made terrible decisions, I'm afraid that pushing you away was a mistake and I'm afraid that even the truth won't bring you back to me, won't give me any semblance of forgiveness."
"The wars of our fathers aren't ours to fight Arthur. Your father's faults are not your own. True you have a difficult road ahead of you because your choices will be your own, the advisors you have are only there for that singular reason, they are not their to given the final decision. You may fail, you may succeed, however I know that I, your knights, and your friends all know that you will be a great king. As for forgiveness…I don't think I understand enough to give it"
Arthur nodded, "I had this belief that it wouldn't be right to put you at my side. Not to have you rule beside me, at least not yet, I don't even know if that is something of interest. I don't really know anything I suppose. I just thought I would save you from getting hurt, from the stares and the people saying that station matters over heart. I thought I was protecting you although I know that you don't need it. I thought I made the right decision, instead I think I've just been a fool."
"You've always been a fool Arthur, a fool who should learn that the ideas of one person do not dictate the ideas of a whole kingdom. Your father may have believed that another royal was your only option but if you had a chance to speak with your villagers perhaps they might prove differently. Fear makes us act in foolish ways, forgiveness has been given to you Arthur, but take it in stride because I may not offer it again."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. Know that I am here for you, know that fear does not control us Arthur. You will be a great king, I have no doubt."

It didn’t take them more than a day and a night to reach Valmore. As soon as they reached the city Morgana quickly caught eyes on Y/n. She jumped off her horse and practically ran over to the y/h/c-ed girl, everyone else followed in Morgana’s direction.
“Y/n!” Morgana yelled out happily.
“Morgana?” Y/n questioned with a furrowed brow as she turned around to fcae where she heard her name called from. Upon seeing who she thought she heard calling her name. Y/n moved away from her knights, handing her horse's reins off to one of them, meeting Morgana halfway in a hug. “What are you doing here?”
“You said to visit anytime.” Morgana smiled at the princess.
“I know I did. I just didn’t think you would so soon. Don’t get me wrong I’m happy you're here. All of you” Y/n smirked happily to have them in her home. Her gaze went across everyone but it lingered a little longer on Arthur before she cast her eyes down.
“What happened to your arm?” Merlin asked with a worried expression after everyone had greeted eachother with smiles.
With Merlin's question, all of them turned their eyes to Y/n’s arm. Noticed the not so pretty gash on her bicep. It was obviously healing and had been stitched up nicely.
“Oh, this?” Y/n pointed to her upper right arm. She shrugged, compared to other injuries she’s had this was a cakewalk. “Happened when I was training. Hadn’t done it in so long I botched a move and well this happened.”
Everyone felt shocked at how she addressed her wound as nothing. But then Arthur spoke up. “Are you ok?”
Y/n looked up at the blonde prince again and nodded before answering. “Yeah, I’ve had worse. Especially when it comes to training.”
Arthur nodded in understanding but it didn’t stop his concern.
“Was it a sword? Or-” Leon asked wondering what made the slightly jagged cut.
“No, no. Swordfighting I wasn’t rusty at.” Y/n shook her head at the young knight. “This came from hand to hand combat. Kind of- a few moves I was rusty at which made me mess up and fall. This cut I got from a very sharp nasty rock.”
Leon nodded in understanding. Gwen stepped forward with a worried look before she asked. “You’ve had worse? That bruise on your upper back looks horrid.”
The others had to agree the bruise looked worse than the healing cut.
“Oh, if only you’ve seen how into it we can all get when it comes to hand to hand.” Y/n smiled letting out an amused laugh. Things were different here than in Camelot. “We go full out. No holding back. Lots of dislocations, torn muscles, cuts, all of it.”
“Women fight?” Gwaine raised his brow in shock and it showed on his face.
Y/n smirked at their shocked faces, so she continued to explain. “In my kingdom, women are warriors, Knights, fighters. We don’t discourage women from wanting to join in on those kinds of things. We encourage them.”
“But the princess?” Lancelot raised one brow in a teasing manner, having seen her fight before unlike most of the others.
“Haha, Lancelot.” Y/n playfully glared at him. “Yes, even the princess. I should know how to defend myself and my kingdom, and my people.”
Y/n spared a glance to Arthur, trying to read his feelings on the words she had said.
“Well, we should probably go up to the Castle.” Morgana suggested with a proud smile on her face. She truly wished she could spend some time in Valmore, enough to learn skills in combat. Maybe even something more magical.
“Yes. I bet you're all tired from the journey. Follow me and my knights. We’ll escort you.” Y/n nodded in agreement to Morgana’s words.
Y/n headed over to her horse, as she went to get up Arthur noticed a slight grimace came across her face as she mounted her horse.
“Do you need some help?” Arthur asked stepping closer to just in case her arm gave out as she pulled herself up onto the saddle.
“No, I uh. I get it.” She answered flustered to having him so close after so long of being apart. Once she was up on the horse she looked down at Arthur with a small smile on her lip. “As I said, I’ve had worse injuries than this. They’ve never stopped me before.”
With that said Y/n escorted her friends from Camelot up to the castle. Once they got their Y/n and her knights took them into the throne room where her parents were currently. After getting them arrangements to stay for as long as they want. With that everyone was shown to their rooms.
It was the next day when everyone decided to do some training in the morning. Some from Camelot had come down to watch Y/n train.
And she wasn’t kidding when she said they trained hardcore.
“Should she be fighting with her arm?” Merlin asked out to anyone that would give him an answer. He winced as he watched his friend fight.
“No.” Arthur answered leaning against the waist high wall. He to was concerned about her but she could hold her own, he knew that. Arthur was more concerned about her fighting and breaking open the freshly healed wound. “No, she shouldn't be, Merlin.”
“Well, are you just going to stare and watch her or go over and talk to her?” Morgana spoke giving Arthur a knowing look.
Arthur glanced Morgana's way before turning his attention back to Y/n. “She’s in the middle of a fight. She needs to concentrate on that.”
“Y/n wasn’t kidding when she said they don’t hold back.” Leon commented as he to watched the training.
Gwen agreed. “Yeah. They really go hard at one another.”
“She’s fighting with men.” Lancelot stated impressed.
“And winning.” Morgana stated proudly.
“She can hold her own.” Merlin nodded in agreement before asking Arthur another question. “When are you going to talk and make up.”
“When I can get her alone.” Arthur told him refraining from rolling his eyes.
“Good luck with that. She’s always surrounded by her knights.” Merlin countered with a tilt of his head.
“They're her friends.” Gwen tried to defend but Morgana cut in wanting to join in on Merlin’s pestering of Arthur.
“Their also men.” Morgana smirked. There were a few girls as well but if she wanted to get at Arthur. Mention all the other men around the girl he loves.
Merlin sucked in a breath in a teasing manner. “She seems very close to knight Jon and Knight Wardlow.”
“I get it okay?” Arthur snapped at them. He didn’t need to be told what he was seeing with his own eyes. Not that he’d admit it but he did feel jealous.

It was the next day that Arthur found a moment to get Y/n alone to talk.
“Y/n!” Arthur yelled after her down the hallway.
“Arthur.” Y/n said as she turned around to look at the prince as he came to a stop in front of her.
“Can we talk?” Arthur asked and he glanced nervously to the knights that were beside her.
Y/n stood still just watching him for a moment before giving him a ‘yes’ nod.
“You gonna be okay?” Knight Darby asked the princess with a look Arthur couldn’t decipher.
“Yeah. I’ll be fine.” Y/n nodded sending Darby a grateful nod for checking first. She was indeed close with her knights and when she came back she had told them what had happened. So they were on edge about leaving her alone with the prince of Camelot.
“If not just yell out. I won’t be far.” Knight Jon stated with narrowed eyes pinned on the young prince. Which was very intimidating to Arthur. He’d seen the man fight, he was pure violence.
“Hmmm” Wardlow hummed and nodded in agreement with his fellow knight and friend. Y/n nodded as the 3 men walked to the end of the hallway not so subtly watching.
“What is on your mind Prince Arthur?” Y/n asked shifting on her feet.
“Can we talk in private?” he sighed not feeling comfortable being watched with what he wanted to talk about.
“Of course.” Y/n gulped nodding before turning and giving her knights a wave. Told them it was okay and to stay. So her and Arthur headed into the nearest room. “What is it you would like to talk about prince Arthur?”
He sighed leaning his head to the side. “Are we really going back to using ‘Prince before my name?”
“How else should I address you?” Y/n said looking down at her hands. She didn’t know how to act around him anymore. Not really.
“As just Arthur.” Arthur said loudly before taking a breath. He wasn’t mad at her he was pissed at himself. For putting them here. “Like before.”
It saddened him to realize he made her feel like they had to go back to the beginning. He hated himself for it.
“But things aren’t like before.” she told him with a sigh. God did she wish they were like before. She really missed him but how could they be together now?” We were together before. Now we’re not so I should address you with your title.”
“Are we really that far gone? Our relationship?” Arthur asked with slightly worried eyes. He couldn’t lose her.
“You tell me.” Y/n lifted her shoulders and then her eyes to look at him. The decision was in his court, he’s the one that ruined things, to begin with.
“y/n-” Arthur went to start but Y/n knew his tone of voice so she cut him off.
“No, Arthur. I can’t go through all that heartache again. I-I just can’t.” Y/n’s voice broke as she spoke and that made Arthur's chest ache.
“I’m sorry.” he didn’t know how else to start.
Y/n shook her head. “Don’t apologize when you don’t mean it.”
Arthur squinted in confusion. “What makes you think I don’t mean it?”
“Because you despise magic! An I have magic so therefore you despise me!” Y/n yelled out before taking a deep breath looking at Arthur with unshed tears in her eyes. The love of her life hated her because of something she frankly enjoyed about herself. “You hate me because of something that is a part of me.”
Arthur stepped forward shaking his head quickly at her words. “I don’t hate you.”
“If you hate a part of me then you hate me.” He couldn’t hate her magic and not hate her. And she couldn’t be with someone who hated her. “That’s how that works Arthur.”
Arthur raised his hands to cup her cheeks, using his thumbs to wipe away tears she didn’t notice were falling down her cheeks. “I could never hate or despise you Y/n.”
“The things you said to me when you found out and the way you looked at me and acted towards me all say otherwise, Arthur.” Y/n looked into his eyes, she could see the regret in his eyes.
“I felt betrayed and I was angry.I said things that weren’t true and that I didn’t mean.” Arthur explained but it didn’t make him feel any better and he didn’t expect to fix things. But she deserved to know. “It's no excuse for what I did. There’s nothing that could excuse my behavior from before. But I want to repair what we had. I want to make it up to you. If that's even a possibility.”
Y/n shook her head, it was a hard decision to make. And she didn’t know if she could, no matter how bad she wanted Arthur back. “I don’t know Arthur.”
Arthur sighed dreading asking this next question. “Are you afraid of me?”
“What?” Y/n looked at him in shock.
“Are you afraid of me? Were you afraid to tell me because you thought I would have had you killed?” He asked with a gulp afraid himself of the answer she’d give. He wouldn’t blame her though. With how Uther felt about magic and him raising Arthur to be the same. . .
“As much as I wish I could say I wasn’t. . . Besides hiding my magic I have never lied to you. I don’t plan on doing it now.” She told him before letting out a deep breath. “Yes, I was afraid that you might tell your father and we both know how I would have been ‘taken care of’.”
“y/n” Arthur's gaze dropped feeling even more disappointed in himself.
“It's not that I didn’t want to tell you, Arthur. It’s just-” Y/n hated that she felt this was but it was true. “I saw how your father flt about sorcery, and then how you felt about it. . . I was scared.”
Arthur nodded solemnly. “You had every right to be.”
“I’m sorry.” she said looking away from him. She felt guilty, even though she had no reason to be.
“Don’t be. You have nothing to be sorry for.” He shook his head, dismissing her apology she had nothing to apologize for it was all him. “I’m sorry. For how I reacted and treated you. It was wrong of me.”
“Its ok-”
Arthur immediately stopped her. He didn’t want her to forgive him that easily or pretend it was nothing. He treated her horribly, that wasn’t okay.  “No, its not. An I know I hurt you.”
Y/n but her lip as they starred at eachother for a moment. “You could’ve just given me a chance. Magic a chance.”
“I hate myself for hurting you. I’ll never forgive myself for all that I put you through.” Arthur agreed with her, he could’ve given her a chance. Prove and show him she didn’t use magic for evil. “But I do want to make it up to you.”
“How?” She asked with a tilted head. If his views didn’t change how could he make it up to her?
“Well, against my views I was taught growing up. I want you to show me your magic.” Arthur gave her a small smile. It didn’t excuse what he did and said but maybe if he could understand her magic and that part of her then they could get back together.
“Are you sure?” Y/n asked, she knew how he felt if this was uncomfortable for him then maybe things should just be done. She didn’t want to force him to like all of her. If they didn’t work then they would have to accept it.
“More sure than I am about a lot of things.” Arthur said shifting closer to his princess. “But I’m even more sure that I want us to get back together.”
Y/n took a deep breath. “Arthur- we can’t just go back to what and how we were.”
“I know that. It’s going to take time for me to gain your trust back. I’m determined to do so.” Arthur looked into her eyes with determination and passion. He was going to gain his princess's trust back. No matter what.
