Also, figuring out pet names for each character is sooo hard. I am not good at coming up with them. I'll try to make it as fluffy as I can, but some of these characters can be tough.

•Silco

-He always calls you darling, kisses the back of your hand when he gets a chance

-the first time you called him 'my love' or used darling, his heart fluttered, making him put his pen down and look at you, pleasantly surprised

-"Love?" He hummed. "Yes, I do rather like the sound of that." Silco came to stand before you and gently took your chin in his hand. "I will always be yours. I swear it."

•Jinx

-She had 1,000 pet names for you. Her favorite is sweets

-You like how playful the relationship could be, how you could be who you really were and how she made you feel light inside

-So you went with something a little silly, like her: Pudding

-Loses her mind because she loves it so much! She threw herself into your arms and gave you the biggest kiss of your life

-She will spray paint 'Pudding loves Sweets' everywhere in her den. It just makes her so happy

•Ekko

-Babe. Straight up, both of you use babe.

-Unless it is very tender moment and he is being romantic, then you are his firelight. (I don't care if that is overused, it is an amazing pet name and you can take it from my dead body)

-You give him funny nicknames to tease him sometimes, but the one that got his attention was big boy.

-Most of his life it's been little man, but for some reason, hearing you say big boy (even if it was a tease) boosts his ego

-Makes a metal flower for you as a thank you and as a symbol of how he will love you forever

•Scar (bat guy from the Firelights)

-This big guy is not a talker so using pet names isn't something he does

-The two of you are very sweet on one another, so calling him beloved just felt right.

-He had to hug you after you said it so you wouldn't see him cry because he is just so soft. Don't tell anyone though.

-The kids will pretend to gag and mock you two if you say it in front of them, but he doesn't care. It gives Ekko a crisis.

-Secretly loves being called daddy in private

•Vander

-Oh, he calls you sugar because you taste so sweet

-Likes to remind you by whispering in your ear. Straight up tease.

- Papa bear is what you call him, and he will punch anyone's face in who mocks it. That is his badge of honor.

-First time you called him that, he chuckled and nudged you. "That would make you mama bear."

-Another who is kind of into the daddy kink

•Finn

-Blossom is his go to. The reason why is raunchy, but no one needs to know that little secret, now do they?

-He reminds you of a tiger with that intense look of his, how he looks like he is going to pounce at any given moment

-Gets off on you calling him that. Will also call you kitten

•Jayce

-You make him all soft inside and has always thought you otherworldly, so he calls you angel

-He isn't one for a large amount of PDA (except with Viktor lol) and he tends to call you this very gently or in private. You don't mind because everyone knows who he goes home to at the end of the night

-It took a long time for you to come up with a good nickname but after staring at the Talis family crest you came up with hammer

-He's strong, durable, and is helping build the way for the future. Also the family crest and he works with one

-He'll be a bit embarrassed at first but that's because he is easy to fluster. You also get him with lewd jokes about hammering.

•Viktor

-If it is a classic and romantic pet name, he calls you it just to see you bite your lip and blush

-It's hard to get him back like that, since he is secretly a devious little man, but then showing affection to him publicly tends to make him blush and put his hand on the small of your back

-Privately it always leads to the most tender kisses and him telling you how much he loves you.

-He's so used to the world being cruel towards him, but your affections really does something inside of him and he has to convince himself to not propose to you immediately

•Mel

-Classy lady likes classy names. Darling, dove, my dear.

-Surprised or bashful smiles is how she tells you she likes it. It doesn't look like anything to others around you but it's like a secret language

-You will use the same ones but it has an effect on her that she didn't expect

•Sevika

-Baby doll, sweet cheeks, honey buns, toots, all of the names

-Day one you called her your goddess, because she just seemed above normal people.

-Anyone says anything about it, immediate broken nose. Do not mock her nickname.

-As with Jinx, you don't really use your name anymore because she never says it

-Unless she's under you or vice versa

Been working on this comic on and off for the past... 2-3 months? It was a BLAST though, had so much fun!

Part of me knows that Worldbuilding should, for the most part, take a backseat to Storytelling, especially in a tightly packed series like Arcane.

The other part of me wants DESPERATELY to know more about the Firelights and their culture.

Brainworms under cut.

I say *culture* specifically, because for all intents and purposes they are not a gang - they're a society. These people have children, presumably partners and siblings, families of their own.

I wonder if it's a "It Takes A Village" sort of situation - all the kids being raised by all the adults simultaneously. I think that would make the most sense, given how some of the kids are definitely rescued orphans. Given that Ekko himself was adopted by Benzo, I think he'd definitely give priority to ensuring that they're saving kids and that those kids are treated well and taken care of.

And it's clear that even the kids respect him as a leader, but to what extent? Do they know him as a king that they have to obey, or is he more of an older brother figure? I'm inclined to say the latter - we see a bunch of kids together looking up at Ekko and Vi, and they greet each-other in a very friendly and relaxed manner.

I mean there's clearly respect for Ekko in kids and adults alike - they all do as he says, with even a slight head tilt being interpreted as a command, no questions asked - but I feel this is more of a faith in his intellect and leadership, rather than any kind of intimidation. Friendship seems to be at the heart of the dynamic, given how Ekko reacts to one of the Firelights dying, as well as the interactions we see between him and Scar (what with the hand clasping, and Scar immediately taking Ekko's weight when he sees his busted leg).

And Scar in general is an interesting case. In the scene with the kids, we see that Scar is seemingly looking after them, and one of the kids is presumably his own. This either lends some credibility to the "everyone takes care of all the kids" idea, or suggests that Scar is just going around adopting a bunch of kids personally, Vander-style. We can assume these kids aren't just his own kid's friends, since his is just a baby.

Now, it's very clear that one of the most important parts of their culture is art - there's paintings everywhere, the most important one being the big mural, but also their coats have drawn-on designs and even their masks are presumably hand-crafted. I have to wonder what sort of significance *artists* themselves have, and by extension how jobs are distributed.

(A small tangent: I love the mural and all it represents, and I absolutely LOVE that despite Vander being a more prominent figure in the undercity's history (and the viewer's mind), it's actually Benzo who is at the center of it. It's a tribute to the individuals they lost, not a documentation of History. Of course the leader's own father would take the biggest spot (though Vander is also a big presence in it)

We only really see a few Firelights on patrol, which makes sense - some are children, some would presumably be too old or sick or injured to fight. This leads me to think that while everyone probably has some fighting experience, not everyone is expected to be out on the field. Art is likely a recreational activity as well, but I wouldn't be surprised if those that can't or don't want to fight are instead busy building, sewing clothes, making masks, painting - I'd imagine there's a designated medic as well. Everyone plays their part to the extent that they can. (Of course the notion of any monetary compensation being given or expected is absurd - there is absolutely no way Ekko would let anyone go without necessities. Capitalism would only bring them closer to the classic mindset he clearly hates.)

So then I wonder - what about the food? I'm sure some is stolen, and I have to imagine they buy some too (along with medicine), but how about the money? Again, stealing from the rich (both Zaunities and Pilties) is definitely on the table, but I wonder if any of the Firelights have jobs in the undercity, bringing in profit that can then be used to buy essentials from the smaller establishments without hurting them.

And then, is any food actually grown? They're occupying one of the few places in the undercity that seems to have fertile soil, and while we aren't really shown this, I can't imagine they wouldn't at least try to grow some fruit or vegetables. I wonder if there's little gardens, if not outright farms, to help support themselves.

This is more of a loose one, but given that the city was founded by a late teens/young adult (however old Ekko may have been he's clearly still very young), I imagine they - especially the kids born and raised there - are probably developing their own unique slang and gestures. There's even a suggestion of this, with the kids greeting Vi and Ekko by holding up their hands in a specific gesture (kind of like the Star Trek Vulcan Salute Thingie). I mean if this had been one of them, I'd brush it off, but if memory serves at least two kids are shown doing this.

I, I dunno. I'm not really getting at anything, here. I just find the idea of an organized, moneyless, society-centric culture run by young adults and kids that will stop at nothing to change the world - but are STILL KIDS that value fun and freedom - absolutely fascinating.

I fuckin love Ekko.

Once again sad about how the Firelights are being hunted and killed by both sides, used as a scapegoat, and probably going to take some of the blame for the council attack.

Sad that their unapologetic actions to help people against both oppressors got them caught between a rock and a hard place and allowed corrupt fucking authorities to murder them.

Sad that they aren’t just fighters, they’re a whole community. There are kids they’re protecting, a lot of the faces on the wall are too fucking young, they have family and friends and they died trying to make better future. Sad that people are actively trying to undo the good they’ve done.

Sad that the people there have all been hurt by shimmer, and some were addicted, including Ekko, including the children the camera panned over as he said that.

I’m also incredibly sad that people don’t talk about it at all. I would take BADLY MADE GACHA VIDEOS with THE WORST WRITING YOU’VE EVER SEEN over this DROUGHT!

This is the worst case of brainrot I have ever had.

-Favoritism is a problem if he likes you. Jinx gets away with literal terrorism, just think of the war crimes you could commit and he'd just say it was your favorite holiday tradition.

-He gives you very subtle hints because he isn't sure if you feel the same way and doesn't want to make you uncomfortable

-You do, however, receive lots of flowers from a mysterious 'admirer'. They always seem to be delivered when you are in his office, working. "Ah, more flowers? This 'admirer' must be very smitten with you."

-You know he really likes you when he asks Jinx to not terrorize you or be rude towards you

•💣Jinx

-She makes you personal little drawings and your own little mascot, like her monkey

-Is a little touchier with you. If you are uncomfortable with that, she will request air hugs/ high fives often

-Names one of her grenades after you. Always draws a heart on it and it emits your favorite color smoke when it blows up

-Lets you hang out in her lair with her and touch her things. This is where she is the most vulnerable and only Silco and you are allowed in.

•⌛Ekko

-Is a bit oblivious at first that he may have feelings towards you

-Watches you a lot. Not in a creepy way, he is just fascinated by how you move, talk, act.

-Even if it pisses you off, he does not like to take you on missions or give you dangerous task. You know how to take care of yourself, but he has lost so many and if he lost you-

-Shows you his workspace and makes little gifts for you to keep on your windowsill.

•🦇Scar (bat guy from the Firelights)

-Since he doesn't really talk, actions and body language is how he communicates

-He is like Ekko and observes. If you catch him looking, he gives you a sweet smile and nod

-You get to hold and play with the baby more than anyone else in the Firelight base. It wrecks him because it is so cute watching you two together

-Brings you little gifts like pretty little rocks and shells, a book, things that interest him to share with you

•💪Vander

-He is pretty upfront about it, but he backs off a bit if you get embarrassed by the attention

-You never pay for your drinks, no matter how many times you try. He once gifted you back all the money you had given him for the drinks. Thought he was really clever about it.

-His eyes brighten around you, and he never stops smiling at you when you talk. Just hearing your voice makes him happy.

•🔥Finn

-You get spoiled. What kitten wants, kitten gets

-You get your own security detail, the best clothes, invited as his plus one to all the parties.

-He isn't ashamed to let you know his feelings, but how deep they are he will never share because he is too afraid someone will use you against him. He'd raze the undercity if you were ever hurt.

-Will actually share silent moments with you because they can be comfortable, but he is giving you the 'fuck me' eyes the whole time

•⚒️Jayce

-He tries to impress you a lot. It can be overwhelming, but he is just nervous that maybe you won't feel the same

-Flowers, candy, jewelry all the time. Will tell you they're from him but he won't tell you why he gave them to you. "I just think you deserve something for your hard work." (Viktor will literally bang his head on the desk because how can his friend be such an idiot?)

-Tells you about his dreams and hopes. It makes his heart swell when he sees how your eyes sparkle when he talks about making things better

-Viktor will throw a book at Jayce if he doesn't admit his feelings for you because, damn it, it is interfering with their work! (He also thinks you two were made for one another)

•📖Viktor

-Smooth with flirting, but if you flirt back, he won't know what to do. He isn't used to someone returning the interest.

-Asks you to get coffee with him daily on his breaks or the one he will take because Jayce demanded he move from his spot in the lab. Walks with you around campus if the weather permits. If not, you both sit in the lounge and talk about little things.

-Gives you lots of books and leaves notes in them for you, like which part was his favorite or what he thinks you would be interested in

-If he has to go to events, you are going with. You two stand back and laugh together about how everyone looks like they're walking with a stick up their ass.

•🖌️Mel

-Invites you to lots of places, to spend as much time as she can with you even while it is for work purposes

-Gets your favorite treats delivered to you.

-Straightens your clothes or hair while talking to you. It is a habit, and it is how she shows affection, but it can be taken as 'you look dreadful, let me fix you'. She means well by it.

-Shows you all her paintings and even teaches you a bit. Even if you are terrible at it, it is not the point, and she is happy to share a passion of hers with you.

•🚬Sevika

-You get silent conversations with her a lot. All she has to do is look at you and you know what it means. Not a word needs to be said.

-She is soft with you, but in a very romantic way. Brushing your cheek with her fingers, glaring at people who are getting too close, telling you that she will protect you

-She can't get you flowers but pays your tab at the bar. To her it is the same thing

-Teaches you cards so you both can gang up on the others and wipe them out of their money

Hi, thank you for your ask!! Hope you'll like it!))

And sorry if there any mistakes. English is not my first language.

If only your family had seen you now they for sure would have a heart attack. You also felt like having one when the man you've been clutching on to made another sharp turn midair manoeuvring through the crumped space of the undercity. The fact that you were currently blindfolded didn’t help a bit.

When Scar was gently putting it on, you didn’t argue - it was a necessary condition of the visit - for the safety of the Firelights and your own.

It took everybody several months before you could trust each other enough: you not being part of the rebels and still wishing to help, them being wary of any outsiders. Though when not only you showed them patience of the saint towards all the nagging of the members of the Sanctuary but as well managed to get unsuspiciously to places they could not, it all payed off. Over the time Scar himself became especially close to you. At first, he seemed to be the toughest chirean in both cities, laconic and good with his sharp spear. Then it seemed like your paths started to cross more and more and what in the beginning was strictly messages on shimmer supply or the need to find a specific medicine for one of the firelights, it resulted in you being his safe space after another poorly ended mission. None of you realised when the friendly encounters suited for business partners of sorts turned into something more intimate and vulnerable. Honestly, there was no even any announcements from any of you. It just happened so naturally, that even other firelights didn't point it out and just went along with it. Though, maybe it was to the fact that not only Scar, but also Ekko accepted you as another addition to their family.

The flight came to an end suddenly and you would have gone flying forward if not for the strong figure in front of you. Scar tapped his metal claws on your hand as a sign to let go and jumped off the hoverboard. For the mere second you felt panic sneaking on you as you were still very much blind, but the next moment gentle and firm hands you’ve grown to adore so much helped you down to the ground.

— Are we there yet?

— Almost. — A simple answer. Short as usual. But as you moved to lift off the blindfold, chirean covered your hand to stop you. — Not yet.

After a few more turns, Scar opening some passages, by the sound of it, and climbing a ladder with his help from behind you finally got to lift the bandage of the eyes.

When you opened them, at first you didn’t even know what to focus on - as the colours swam right into your eyes - blinding with the variety. You’ve got so used to everything being gloomy and dark in the Undercity that to the picture in front of you now resembled more of a dream. A good one.

Fresh leaves surrounded the platform you found yourself on. From every side numerous flames flickered from the small electrical lamps and from greenish bugs that were now strongly associated with your new friends in your mind. Then children's laugh was heard as some of the kids flew by, stable enough on the hover boards, and a warm hand fell on your waist from behind. Only then you shake off this dreamy daze.

Then you turn to look up on the chirean, now much more alike that you two were in the safety.

— Scar, — your voice got caught in your throat when his green sharp eyes moved to meet yours: — Thank you. For bringing me here… and for your trust.

The man hummed in content and tugged you in the direction all the houses that were huddling together in the crown of the gigantic tree.

— Come. I want you to meet someone.
