Hey y'all! In celebration of Wizard101's 15h birthday, here's a animated short that follows the player through some key moments in the game's story! It's very very beautifully done and a real tear jerker :')

Full disclaimer, had no idea this was a thing that was happening until literally right now :'D I'm guessing at least part of the production on this was outsourced, as I have no knowledge of any of the artists here working on it. Kayly, our head of Marketing, was a huge driving force behind the idea, so big shout out to her and the marketing team!

Meet Vigilance Drake, the half-Valencian adopted child of Sylvia and Malistaire Drake who ended up going after his dad when he went mad with grief! He's a savior oc alongside @fabledfirmament's Pandora Drake (adopted kid of cyrus I'll post art of them both soon) and though he starts out alright he ends up leaning too hard into his job and getting singled out for duty by Raven herself. Because Raven distrusts Pandora due to the latter's use of shadow magic, Vigilance ends up getting the full weight of her responsibility - and he does NOT take it well.

hey guys!! I'm starting formal research on my "why was learning shadow magic in khrysalis an allegory for transness" post! i realized very quickly if i wanted to articulate myself correctly it'd have to become a well researched essay. im probably going to be touching briefly on fascism, cultural hegemony, and of course recent artistic trans allegories like the matrix. I'll probably be focusing on its impact on the story of the young wizard if i can: but if i get curious enough i might try and incorporate morganthe into my argument.

good morning i was thinking about how the game stops referring to your wizard by name eventually(?) and thinking about how that could be connected to everyone putting this Child on a pedestal of saving the entire universe when they're probably nowhere near 18 yet and. god there's so much i could yell about but i dont have enough ask space

Aaaah yes that's a good attention to detail that you've noticed and that's an EXCEPTIONAL perspective on why that is!!! As much as I PERSONALLY will go with the idea that the YW has aged and grown physically throughout the game's timeline for various reasons there's something so METAL and heartbreaking about the fact that everyone around the YW just doesn't see them as a child anymore due to their status and their job, despite them still being so very young. That agency about them was removed from them outside of their control so now you have a 12 year old with the mind of Batman because they never had a childhood.

When even the WORLD AROUND YOU is contributing to the idea that you are no longer a child, that's gonna stick. Even though you're a teenager nobody treats you like one, you don't get to act like one, any and all notions that you are a CHILD savior is erased so now you are just a SAVIOR. At that point people aren't even treating you as an ADULT either, they're treating you as an IDEA, a CONCEPT. You are someTHING to believe in, rather than someONE. This is a very sad thing to think about! 😄

hey arc 1 questing may be hellish but at least during that i know whats going on and why im doing what im doing... im in azteca right now and im chasing different people down and fighting four of each enemy over and over like okay so morganthe is up to something with a "deck of shadows" whatever that is... and we gotta stop her or else uhh... oh look another black lotus

i would arguably say that azteca and khrysalis are the ones where it starts to reach a kind of climax and ending... but i am also biased because i like azteca and khrysalis 😭

but yes morganthe wants the deck of shadows from the mirror lake and thats why shes there. ignore xibalba thats not important 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩 this isnt about them rn

from what i remember from speedrunning wiz the first time (still no max...) this is how arc 2 felt for me
