Gekka Youi-tan 1 (April Fools 2022)
Raw translation, non beta'd.
Suddenly, I woke up.
After opening my eyelids, a scenery I had never seen.
Akira: (the middle of the mountains...?)
I'm looking around eyes wide, startled.
And a snake-like creature with a big mouth was coming right to me.
The fear crawled through my body and before I realized, I was screaming.
Akira: so-somebody....! Help me!
???: Close your eyes.
I closed my eyes tightly after hearing that voice and a strong wind blown with a roaring sound.
Akira: huh?
The moment I opened my eyes, the monster with wide mouth was gone.
A man in kimono is standing instead. He was well dressed and had a majestic aura.
Man: are you ok?
He asked looking at me, I was too surprised so I just nodded.
Akira: uhm... Did you help me...?
He frowned, he was neither affirming or denying.
Man: I moved unconsciously. To be attacked by a dragon... Are you a criminal or something?
Man: I've never seen a youkai that looks like you to begin with.
Akira: (youkai? Dragon?)
Akira: (what is he talking about...? There's no way such creatures exist in real life...)
I tilted my head with that thought in mind.
Akira: (why did I feel that way...?)
I felt awkward with my own feelings.
Where did that security of "there's no way" come from?
Akira: (certainly, the creature of just now...)
Green, slender and long body. Looking back, it looked like a dragon indeed.
And the man that just rescued me, too... Now that I look at him, there's something that looks like wings on his back.
Akira: (youkai)
His words became slowly became more real and spread throughout me.
However, either my head and my heart refuse to accept it, so my confusion grew.
Akira: (what is this place...)
Akira: (if he's a youkai, then I'm...)
Am I also a youkai? But he said he had never seen a youkai like me.
Then what am I? Where have I been and what was I doing?
Akira: (....I can't remember...)
Even if I try to remember, my mind is all hazy. My head was spinning.
Man: hey, you.
When I lifted my face, my eyes met a suspicious look.
Akira: oh, sorry... I can't remember anything about myself, I don't know why...
Man: about yourself?
He looked at me even more suspiciously.
Akira: y-yes... What should I do... Why is this...happening...?
I felt like I was suddenly thrown to the ocean. There's no floor, nor I can see the shore or a ship.
Man: Calm down. You don't have to force yourself to remember.
Man: I'm Faust... I'm a tengu.
Akira: Faust-san...
Faust: just Faust is fine.
Faust: I'm not a particularly honest or kind youkai, but I'm not willing to harm you.
Contrary to his words, his voice sounded sincere and gentle, like the voice of somebody trying to soothe a withering child. After hearing that, a word popped inside my head.
Akira: ... Akira....
Faust: what?
Akira: that's my name... I just remembered it.
Faust: I see... If you can remember while speaking, your memory may not have been stolen, but just locked in the depths of your heart.
Faust: so there is a chance you regain your memory, then.
I felt relief after hearing his words. Then, Faust turns his back.
Faust: farewell.
Akira: huh?! Are you leaving?!
Faust: I don't pretend to get involved in troublesome things.
Faust: and... Since I've laid my hands on the dragon, now I'm in a difficult position.
Faust: if you're worried of being alone, ask a kinder youkai to help you.
Akira: p-please wait...! I don't know who can I rely on, I don't even know about myself!
I grabbed Faust's hem to stop him. I knew I was misbehaving in front of somebody I just met but I was really desperate.
I couldn't tell left from right and, on the top of that, I didn't know about myself. The only one I could rely on now, is him.
Faust: .........
I think I made a very pitiful face.
Because Faust looked me annoyed and then, sighed with his eyes closed.
Faust: ...I don't really want to, but I'll take you to Ōun-gai.
Akira: Ōun-gai...?
Faust: a city protected by a large sakura tree, many youkai live there. You may find something about yourself there.
[another place]
Faust: apparently, he escaped. I just received the report from my subordinates.
White: Snow is going to check the situation.
White: although is a hassle, but we can't ignore the situation.
White: right, Oz?
Oz: .......
Oz: a foreign being that slipped into this world... We need to find it and deal with it.
[sky]
Akira: S...... So high...!!
Faust: don't move.
I was being carried by Faust and I could see far in the distance, the mountain roads and trees.
The black feathers on his back moved calmly like breathing in the wind.
Akira: you can really fly in the sky, Faust...
Faust: I'm a tengu, it's natural. Is your first time flying?
Akira: I-I wonder...
Akira: (It doesn't feel like it's the first time...)
Because I don't remember anything, I can't say it for sure. However, I suddenly was afraid of being dropped while flying in the air being carried like luggage.
Gradually, the mountains became smaller and I could see a town dyed in pink.
Akira: that's....
Faust: that's Ōun-gai.
Sakura trees were everywhere in the city. Rather than having many sakura trees around the town, it looked like the city was built in a group of sakura trees.
And all the trees were in full bloom. It looked like pale pink snow over the town's sky.
Akira: ("Ōun-gai"*... Just as the name says...) *T/N: Ōun-gai literally means "city of sakura clouds"
I was still fascinated as we slowly approach the city.
The moment we landed, sakura petals fell on me.
Akira: wow...
Faust: the big sakura welcomes you as if it was interested in you. It doesn't look hostile...
Akira: what is that big sakura you just said...?
Faust: as the name suggests, a sakura youkai. A big youkai that has lived here for more than a thousand years and never withers.
Faust: this city was built over the roots of the this big sakura tree and it's protected by its will.
Faust: the big sakura likes the moonlight and rare things. Maybe that's why it took a liking to you.
Akira: a sakura with a will....
A youkai that has lived for thousands of years...?
Suddenly, I look around with an unbelievable feeling. You can only see the ephemeral and beautiful sakura decorating the city.
And under that sakura, I see a boy with golden hair and one with brown hair watering the tree with a watering can in his hand.
Both had fox-like ears and a fluffy tail swaying side to side.
Akira: ..... This is really a place where youkai lives...
Faust: you talk like if you were from another world.
Akira: another world? They exist?
Faust: there's no way I know that.
In that moment, a tall man approached to us.

So, it’s been a while ever since that Mary Sue Generator ever popped up on Meiker’s shores, but since April’s heading off to a close, I’ve finally decided to send it away to some far-off land where it can safely frolic amongst the pastures like a wild pony and if you were to visit it, you’d be greeted by a lovely 404 error page instead.
Here are some screenshots of it taken shortly before it quietly shuffled off to Valhalla, FOREVER:
This was the description that accompanied the game, along with the tags. The description was a lie, just like the cake. You’ll hear the truth later.
Instead of a fully-functional game once you hit the Play button, all you got was this rainbow colored beauty of a special message scribbled on it, accompanied with its little buddies: “A message from our sponsors” icon and a smiley with its tongue sticking out of its mouth. If you’d like, I can do an actual, fully-functional Mary Sue Meiker game for you to enjoy that’s definitely NOT SOME APRIL FOOL’S JOKE, but the REAL DEFINITELY SERIOUS DEAL.

Now here’s the story behind the game:
It was April Fool’s day, y’know, that one annual event where pranks are played and hoaxes pop outta nowhere all day long, so I did my part in the April Fool’s festivities which was making my own Meiker.io prank, which would be Meiker’s first ever April Fool’s Prank! I did EVERYTHING on the fly, as in a good few hours of my time, from the “game” itself all the way to the icon.
And speaking of this icon, which has been enlarged to ensure quality...
...it was inspired by all those silly Mary Sue OCs that some kid would post on their DeviantArt account and an illustration of the character Lt. Mary Sue, who appeared in the fanfic A Trekkie’s Tale, where the term used to describe unrealistically perfect characters, especially fanmade OCs got its name...
...and modeled after me. Sadly, I don’t have a photo reference of me doing that face; the Mary Sue Generator character’s facial expression was drawn from life.
Anyway, when I sent it off to review, I was sooooo excited I just couldn’t wait for it to show up for the LOLZ, then it was WORLD DOMINATION! (just kidding) I was expecting it to come as soon as possible, but it turned out to be a 2-day late package from the mail, which I received while on a road trip with my family. Picture this, two days of waiting took me forever like a bunch of eons passing by hoping for a sign from the Meiker gods, before they granted my wish.
Sure, it hung around in the Meiker site, among a slew of custom dress up games, avatar makers, and whatnots for at least 22 days, before being EXTERMINATED!!! by me.
Anyway, that’s enough storytelling for this post, but if you’re one of the people who got fooled by this “game” for this year’s April Fools, consider yourself lucky. I’ll still be working on actual Meiker games in my spare time and doing other stuff aside from that, but maybe, you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled, as I might strike back with another Meiker.io April Fool’s prank next year...

This post is going to be a very brief overview of this year's April Fools Day event. I'll only be looking at content that has been posted on the official social media accounts for now, which isn't much but it's what I can access at the moment. Home screen translations from @/pjsekai_eng on Twitter were also used. Next year I'll do a much more detailed analysis because things like Area Conversations will be more readily available.
Summary
For April Fools Day, a new school called MIKUdemy has appeared in Shibuya, which all the characters in the game, including Kanade and the main Virtual Singer(s) for each unit, have been invited to attend for a year. The school's headmaster is Mikudayo. A new song called Be The MUSIC! was released, featuring all 26 main characters.
The characters were all placed into classes of six or seven students. These classes were as follows:
Pure Heart Class
Students: Ichika, Shizuku, Toya, Emu, Kanade, Miku (N25)
Pure Heart Class, a heartwarming and peaceful space ♪
A comfortable class with a calm and fluffy atmosphere. Do other classes worry for them because "There's no Tsukkomi!"...?
Other info:
Ichika feels a bit embarrassed about being called “pure”. She also finds being in the same class as older students to be strange.
Shizuku feels that N25!Miku is like a little sister, and keeps checking in on her.
Since Shizuku and Toya both like reading, the former asks the latter for recommendations. Toya tells Shizuku about Where’s Wally.
Toya thinks that he might be able to compete in the school’s ball game competition if he takes part in the (alcohol free) Dizzy Bat game.
Emu arranged an anime screening for everyone. She also wants to try playing a conch since the school has one in the music room.
Kanade wonders about how everyone is able to handle going to school in daylight. She also wants to talk to Toya about music composition.
Solid Heart Class
Students: Shiho, Airi, Akito, Nene, Ena, KAITO (WxS)
Pragmatic and stoic! That's Solid Heart Class!
This is a class of pupils who are calm and objective. For some reason, they seem to care about the Pure Heart Class students...
Other info:
Shiho understands why Ena and Akito aren’t fond of being in the same class and she is glad she didn’t end up in a class with Shizuku. She likes her class because it has a lot of stoic and independent students.
Airi is worried about Shizuku’s class because they don’t have anyone to play the role of tsukkomi.
Akito is annoyed that he is in the same class as his sister, partially because you can’t tell who’s being spoken to when their last names are used. He thinks Toya’s class must be nice but admits it doesn’t suit him.
Nene is a bit nervous about being in the same class as upperclassmen. She also mentions that Akito and Ena fight like children.
Ena says that WxS!KAITO makes her uncomfortable because he is so much nicer than N25!KAITO. She also worries about being able to wake up in the morning, and decides to let Akito wake her up in the worst case scenario. Airi tells her to not do that.
Passion Heart Class
Students: Saki, Minori, An, Rui, Mizuki, Rin (MMJ), Len (VBS)
When you have an idea, act on it immediately! This is Passion Heart Class!
This class is full of action-oriented students! When walking by the classroom, please watch out for flying drones and energetic students.
Other info:
Saki thinks the named classes make the school seem fancier. She says that at Mikudemy, you can find “something special”, and she wonders what it might be.
Minori wants to invite Rin and Mizuki to attend the Idol History class with her. She also decides to complete in the school’s dizzy bat competition to get better at variety show activities.
An thinks the lessons at Mikudemy are really fun and she thinks she wouldn’t mind studying for exams. She is going to compete against Haruka and Mafuyu in basketball for the ball sports competition.
Rui says he never thought he’d see the day he felt comfortable at school. He quickly befriends VBS!Len because of his similarities to WxS!Len. Mizuki mentions that he’s unexpectedly a good big brother-figure.
Mizuki wins some discount coupons for an ice-cream shop and invites Saki and An to go with them to buy some.
Cautious Heart Class
Students: Honami, Haruka, Kohane, Tsukasa, Mafuyu, Luka (L/n), MEIKO (VBS)
Thoughtful yet firm! They're Cautious Heart Class!
The pupils in this class have outstanding leadership skills. Their warm compassion towards others is remarkable.
Other info:
Honami plans on making the most of her year at the school by studying hard. Tsukasa thinks she would be good on the kick rounders team, but she’s not so sure.
Haruka wants to try out dizzy bat at the upcoming ball sports competition.
Kohane says that having someone as mature as MEIKO in her class makes her shy.
Tsukasa thinks being invited to Mikudemy is a sign of destiny. He invites Mafuyu to have lunch with the rest of the class, and she thinks he’s really loud.
Mafuyu thinks it’s nice that she got to try out some instruments in the school.
