Karen's Apple Crisp
Ok, so, my mom makes an INCREDIBLE apple crisp. It's my favorite and it's so good. In general, I love apples, so it's hard to really go wrong there.
I've been making this for years. A couple years ago, one of my roommates, Nico, came home with two bags of apples and said "Make me an apple crisp. Please."
What do I need?
Get about 7 apples and make sure they're peeled and sliced
1 tsp of cinnamon
1 tbsp of sugar
1 cup of flour
1 cup of brown sugar
1/4 tsp of cinnamon
1/4 tsp of nutmeg
1/2 cup of butter
What do I do?
(These are her exact words because she's silly and I want everyone who sees this to experience it)
In a casserole dish mix apples, make sure they're sliced into bite sized or smaller. I add a little cinnamon, about 1 tsp, in the apples :) >Also add 1 TBSP of sugar
>add craisins to give it a different taste. Yum! :)
In a seperate bowl mix together:
>1 cup of flour
>1 cup of brown sugar
>1/4 tsp cinnamon, and nutmeg
>I do about a stick of butter (use your butter <3) Sometimes it's 1/2 cup because I think it's a lot of butter, but you do you :)
Mix those until they're crumbly
Place on top of apples and spread
Cook at 350 for 50 minutes
It's a staple dessert when apples are in season! Add some ice cream and it's even better! I've... never actually had it with ice cream, but Nico has, and they liked it. So there.
