Finished reading ATWIED, immediately went and rewatched the 2021 adaptation, and was excitedly fangirling every time they incorporated a new detail from the book into a different part of the reworked story.
Examples:
Abigail working for The Daily Telegraph, which in the book was the only newspaper to support Fogg
Crossing the damaged bridge, but in Italy instead of the US
Passepartout climbing on the outside of the train in order to save the passengers
Taking the train apart to use for fuel, which is what they did to their ship on the way back to Liverpool
Aouda but she's the one who saves Fogg's life
Aouda but she's the one who saves Fogg's life
Standing trial in India, except this time on behalf of someone else
Passepartout, while trying to help, nearly costing them the whole trip in Hong Kong
They finally make it on board the Carnatic!
(Not for long, though)
Everyone nearly dying in an ambush while crossing America
Their ship back is still called the Henrietta 💜
And did I mention
AOUDA BUT SHE'S THE ONE WHO SAVES FOGG'S LIFE
Those are just the ones I could remember off the top of my head. I'm almost certain there were more. Amazing book, stunning adaptation, both are highly recommended.

The gang walks through a dark tunnel
Aouda: It's sure dark in here.
Phileas Fogg: We could use some light.
Jean Passepartout: Hey, I found some candles. *Lights the "candles" with a match*
Inspector Fix: Passepartout, that's dynamite!
*Passepartout tries desperately to blow out the dynamite before giving up and throwing it far away from everyone*

i am going to hate on Around The World in 80 Days (2021).
Not because of any "woke bullshit", in fact the only reason i chose to watch this version instead of another was because of the woke bullshit the negative reviews had promised me.
No, I want to complain about three things.
A) i was most definitely a Fix/Passepartout shipper when i read the book. however when they gender swapped fix, it was like oh. You've gender swapped this character for what? so you could make them heterosexual? Gender swap both, cowards.
B) Phileas Foggs whole personality... As well as some others, but we'll focus on him as he's the main character- the negative reviews had of course informed me that the show had "sucked out all his testosterone", but as an enjoyer of loser men, i was almost looking forward to that. No, but they've taken away everything that made him act like himself, he no longer acts cold, he acts like... Well, he acts like any David Tennant character (thats not a murderer, that is).
C) other then the personality, it was very inconsistent with the book? Again, not talking about Passepartout being Black or Fix being a women, I really dont mind that other then them being heterosexual, but I mean, what the fuck happened to Aouda?
Anyway sorry for complaining about this, im sure it was great to a lot of people, but as someone who had literally finished the book the same day i started watching, it was really annoying.

Dialogue transcripts:
Panel 1
Godfrey: And do not tell Irene, but I am certainly going to commission you for a portrait of her.
Basil: I’d be glad to! As soon as I have completed Sir Murgatroyd’s, I am at your service.
Panel 2
Godfrey: Please, take your time. No matter when, it is a thrill to show your gift to the one you love!
Basil: Indeed, it is…
Panel 3
Irene: …Well, Mr. Gray, we shall keep that in mind. We do owe Mr. Hallward, as well as yourself, credit for giving us the first clue. Above all, we trust Lord Godalming having referred you.
Panel 4
Dorian: Ah, indeed, good old Basil…Anyway. I am glad Lord Godalming has put my little joke behind him. He’s a bit of a humorless sort, sometimes.
Panel 5
Mina: Oh, rest assured, Arthur is quite mirthful.
Panel 6
Mina: He does, however, have his limits when it comes to love.
Mina (white text): We, however, shall suffer no mockery of Love.
Panel 7
Background text (left side): “How long will you like me? Till I have my first wrinkle, I suppose.” “I love her, and I must make her love me.” “I have had the arms of Rosalind around me, and kissed Juliet on the mouth.”
Background text (right side): “I would give my soul for that!” “To-night she is Imogen, and to-morrow night she will be Juliet.” “When is she Sibyl Vane?” “Never.” “You have spoiled the romance of my life. How little you can know of love, if you say it mars your art! Without your art, you are nothing.”
Background text (white): Mockery of Love (x3)
Panel 8
Mina: …Is everything quite alright, Mr. Gray?
Panel 9
Dorian: Oh! Yes—I was just saying—We would be delighted to keep in touch with such…ahem…intriguing company. But for now I am afraid we must bid you adieu, erm, if you’ll excuse me…
Panel 10
Basil: Dorian! Are we leaving already?

Wow it's very evident that Jules Verne is not a romance writer, but I still think it's cute that Aouda is the one who proposes to Phileas, and in the end I think they do make a really nice couple.

You know of course that I am contractually obligated to ask about the 80 days trio :3c
Ooh, they're hard. Phileas Fogg is phlegmatic but insane. Passepartout is incendiary but acrobatic. Aouda is... a woman in a Jules Verne novel. But we can divine a couple of characterization points in that she is willing to roll with things to an impressive extent and she witnesses Fogg being thirteen flavors of unhinged and still wants to Tap That. There's so much wrong with all three of them.
Let's tackle Passepartout. He at least has a straightforward motivation for being in the Castle in the first place - he's a servant in search of a master. Does Dracula need a ridiculous manservant? Doesn't matter he has one now. This may be another case of poor Passepartout signing up for someone precise and predictable and instead getting an Incredible Weirdo (tm).
Passepartout's survival is going to hinge entirely on whether Dracula finds him funny. He's really committed to being a good servant, but he's also got a temper and frequent bouts of offended pride. I could see him picking a fight with Dracula's coach driver for instance. He's not going to be quick to clock the fake mustache, you know?
I was going to say he might have difficulty being sufficiently deferential but honestly he's loyal to a fault. He has a strong sense if justice and is decently heroic, but once he commits to a certain narrative it's hard to steer him off of it. It might take an awful lot for him to realize (or accept) that Dracula is a Bad Guy.
We know Dracula really enjoys toying with his victims - is he going to be amused or frustrated by Passepartout's dedication? Is he going to be into whatever this is or is it going to be a case of "sheesh, what does it take to get to this guy???"
The other thing about Passepartout is that he's eminently kissable. Like if the Girlies thought Jonathan Harker was a snacc wait till they lay their eyes on this sanguine Frenchman. I don't know if that is going to make any kind of a difference, but he is definitely in Everyone In This Castle Desires Me Carnally territory.
I guess the Baby Eating might be a Bit Much for even Passepartout to rationalize, at which point it all falls apart because this man has zero self-preservation instincts. He is capable of being sneaky but he isn't nearly as sneaky ir as subtle as he thinks he is. He will try to do something heroic and it won't end well.
...which is a pity because as Jules Verne's Funny Acrobatic Servant archetype he could absolutely have made it down the wall.
So sadly I think Jean Passepartout can not survive Castle Dracula. He's a little too Good, a little too Brave, and way too French. He would have made a great Vampire Thrall but alas.

This is Muhammad Rafiq Abu Aouda and his family.
They were displaced from their home and shortly after their father was martyred by the Israeli occupation. Currently they are residing in Rafah without any proper shelter food and basic needs. This is a call to action, if everyone who saw this post donated at least 5 dollars then they can reach their goal and evacuate into Egypt before the border closes in 2 weeks.
Please if you cannot donate then share this post, reblog, like, and show to people who can.

A true Englishman doesn't joke when he is talking about so serious a thing as a wager.
Jules Verne, Around the World in Eighty Days (1872)
Michael Todd’s adventure comedy film ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ was released in 1956. The film starred David Niven as Phileas Fogg. It also starred Mario Fortino Alfonso Moreno Reyes (known as Cantinflas) as Passepartout, Robert Newton as Detective Fix, and Shirley MacLaine as Princess Aouda.
The rare picture of David Niven as Phileas Fogg in the Reform Club’s Card Room was part of a set just for publicity purposes and is held in the Reform Club archives. When it came to actually filming the scenes in the Reform Club they shot in the studios with a life-like set. The Reform Club refused to let any filming done on its premises for fear it might disturb its members.
As a current female member looking back, I might have voted otherwise just to let some daylight in to this once stuffy place.
Times have changed and a few private members clubs are quite partial for a big budget film to shoot some scenes in their iconic premises. This includes the Reform Club which has appeared in many popular films such as the James Bond films ‘Die Another Day’ and 'Quantum of Solace', 'The Avengers', 'Sherlock Holmes', 'Tenet', and others. I know there are now grumblings from current members that things have swung too far and the Reform Club is not a film set but a private haven for its members. So perhaps the Reform Club should close its doors on the principle less is more.
Anyone want to take me up on a wager that it will?

Phileas Fogg, pointing to his new jacket: What color is this?
Aouda: Gray.
Inspector Fix: Gray.
Phileas Fogg, to Passepartout: Now tell them what color you think it is.
Jean Passepartout, quietly: Dark white.
