Not to complain about ao3, because it's God tier and I love it,,, but how I wish you could use filters on your history. Like,,, I was so young and naive for like,, years when I first used it,,, and I didn't bookmark stuff, or would only do it once in a blue moon back then,,,,, and there's so many fics I remember reading and would love to find again, but finding them from scratch out of every single fic out there can be such a struggle(not to mention sometimes they've been deleted, so there may not even be anything to find, but at least if you could filter your reading history, you would be sure that if it didn't show up it was deleted and not just that you're searching for it wrongㅠ.ㅠ) but yeah,,,, I absolutely adore ao3,, I just,,, the longing I have for a filter feature in the reading history tab is so strong,, the one thing in my many years of using it that I've wished could be added to such an already perfect hellsite,, yknow?
I made my first zine yesterday in anticipation of an event for students. I thought displaying one on the history of ao3 may make some of them smile and feel more comfortable since this is obviously a low art threshold zine… (shoutouts to @bad-surprise, @hazelmaines, and @thecoziestbean)
Here’s a short video with how to make an easy one page zine. Warning: you can lose a good hour or more to making one of these because it’s so much fun to create :)
Just like queer history is twisted and bent to make it more palatable to cishet norms, AO3 history is being twisted and bent to serve another agenda. I was there when A03 came to be, and I contribute every year, because I remember the cliusterfuck of Fanfiction.net, LJ’s Strikethrough, and the lording over that single-fandom and pairing archives put authors through.
So, in the terminology of the first online MMORPGs:
I feel like my ao3 history just got super cluttered all the time so I just turned it off lol XD no need to worry about sus things in your history if you don't have history on the website lolllllllllll
I think it's funny that without context if I saw some fanfic in my history that said "Chase..." and then something, it would be confusing without a context because there's a Chase in Paw Patrol and there's a Chase in Ever After High and I'm un both fandoms and read fics from both fandoms.
It's just that I was watching my history and it said something in the summary with uhm "Chase wakes up with his hand hurting" or something like that and I was "Wait? What Chase?" And then I saw that it was Chase Redford, I like him and I already remembered what fanfic it was
When you and your sister watch rwrb and you explain that you've read the book and she states that we should all be worried about what im reading and I have to sit there and think of my ao3 history
