#feeling annoyed that baby is explicitly not invited to our friends' wedding which is a several hour drive away#she wouldn't cost anything for them#but we can't afford a babysitter for that whole weekend and anyways she's too young to be away from me that long#i was really looking forward to going :((( and also seeing the touristy things in the area since we've never been there before#well now we are not going.#:(#blue talks#am i breaking my lenten fast?... yes...#anyways i'm a big believer that children should be accommodated as much as possible at weddings#maybe you can't afford to have all the kids of your friends come but it's one thing if the kids are old enough to survive a weekend without#the parents and with a babysitter and/or the parents don't have to travel far#okay i'll stop now#i'm writing this all out bc i don't wanna decline the invite just yet#but yeah i have plenty of thoughts#about how children not being invited to weddings is symptomatic of the cultural divorce between marriage and children#and contributes to children's exclusion from society as full human beings#ANYWAYS#i did appreciate the way my one friend did it last year... all kids in the two families were invited#and then the babies of the friends were invited though not the older children#which i thought was a good balance between accepting children and practicalities of finance
