brad dourif characters x reader headcanons: periods (smut)
got my period so dragged this out of my drafts because we all know that none of brad's characters would be turned off by a little menstruation. this part is specifically about period sex, part two will be fluff. WARNING for smut, periods and fem!gendered language the parts where i definitely went too far. more notes in tags.
charles lee ray
lives for it
he brings the idea up to you when you start a period one time
has the pretense that he wants to help your cramps but don't be fooled it's just another excuse to get his dick wet
blood really makes this man go feral and your period is no different
seriously
your sheets will be ruined
nothing makes him last like when you're on your period
will do you in every position
(every position)
has absolutely no problem going down on you, eats pussy like a starving man
blood on his hands, his face, your face, your tits, smeared between your thighs, coating his dick
jack dante
also goes a little crazy when you're on your period
doesn't know it helps with cramps but his enthusiasm makes up for it
if you're wearing a tampon as you're about to get busy, he will take it out for you (not to kink shame him but he is too into it)
draws the line at going down on you though
who'd have thought that the man who is hard pressed to take a shower once in a while would be squeamish about eating you out on your period?
bends you over his desk when you give him the go ahead
likes to watch as his dick gets covered in blood
and watches it dribble down your thighs
is more gentle afterwards than usual
i.e. will stay and "cuddle" for a while (like 5 minutes) and doesn't just leave you to do whatever he does
sheriff brackett
his "only" goal is to relieve your cramps
technically he brings it up because you mention you're on and therefore can't do it because guys think it's gross
"you know, sex can help with this sort of thing, and i'd be more than happy to help you out sweetie if you wanted me to"
slow
like really slow
wants you to be relaxed and also doesn't want to hurt you
gets overly protective
will put a towel down because he is sensible
tries not to get any blood on you
because he's a gentleman he wipes his fingers off on the towel before touching your face
missionary because he is soft and wants you to take care of you, leave it all to him
grima wormtongue
thinks period sex means you can't get pregnant (false)
science isn't too set in stone yet in middle earth i guess
also think it helps with cramps (true) so he can pretend he is being helpful but really he is just horny
good luck trying to wash his sheets afterwards because it will be you that has to sneakily wash them in private
missionary because he wants to see your legs spread
(definitely some primal fertility kink thing he has going on with you)
doc cochran
at last, a true man of science
you're the one who brings it up even though he already knows about the benefits re: cramps
but you have to bring up everything re: sex or else he's too polite to do it
when you do bring it up though he is straight on board with the whole thing
will finger you periodically throughout the day to help relieve cramps
which is hotter than it sounds
you lowkey love that he gets all "official doctors advice" on you about it
has you on his lap riding him so he can hold you close
and doesn't ruin the bed
he totally coddles you
"do you feel better now?" "sure i do, doc"
definitely not just your cramps that are better either
tommy ludlow
you're the one who brings it up to him saying that it helps with cramps
very happy you brought it up because he didn't want to be insensitive and ask to fuck while you were on
but you are more than up for it
which is good for him because he is always down to fuck
happy that there's not a week in the month that you two can't fuck
will put a towel down because he's not actually into the blood aspect
actually was sort of surprised a how good it felt when you were so much warmer and wetter
leo nova
doesn't have the pretense of helping with cramps because he is mean and doesn't care
like charles he just wants to get his dick wet
doesn't put a towel down but is still the one to complain that the sheets are ruined
will cuddle for a bit afterwards because he's not a total monster
secretly loves how much more sensitive you are
(makes you squeal)
"you're like a bitch in heat like this"
can do less work for more reward
tucker cleveland
doesn't have a thing for blood specifically
but does have a thing for hot, dirty sex
does manual labour for a living so not afraid of being sweaty/bloody/sticky
if he can get you wet and help you out with cramps then he is a happy man
pussy eating pro, especially when on your period when he can get you to make so many more noises
(will also take your tampon out himself because he says it gets you riled up, does more for him though if we're all honest though)

If Fates' child mechanics could be improved, story wise, what would you do? Because I do genuinely love the kids as characters but they were done DIRTY by the excuse plot and reasons for them to be there.
That reminds me of something else I’ve meant to say about how the Fates child mechanics really really doesn’t work. Actually several things, one big one and a bunch of other little ones.
It’s obvious that the thought process was “well, people liked Awakening and Awakening had XYZ, so let’s add it in again!” without taking into account that Awakening built its story around time travel. Even if you didn’t get any S-supports, Lucina is still there. It’s a major plot point. Grima is still there, also having time-traveled. You can’t separate the time travel from the main plot, so from there it’s natural that Lucina would have some friends who came back with her, and thus you get the kids.
We’ve discussed how Fates’ baby dimension is silly. Yeah hang on let’s all just have kids during a war and throw them into an Outrealm pocket dimension where they’ll grow up real quick and we can have more soldiers for our army. If a tree falls in a forest and nobody’s around to hear it - if a situation so fantastical happens that it couldn’t have been written about in any human rights documentation, is it still a war crime? Several other issues I have with it before I get into the big one I wanted to talk about:
Even if we presume that the ladies are spending the duration of their pregnancy also in a pocket dimension where time passes differently in relation to the outside world, that’s still the equivalent of nine months that they are experiencing. That’s (equivalent to) several months that they’re not going to be able to train when the pregnancy is far along or when they’re recovering. Even if it seems like just a few days passed outside, they’re physically going to be lagging behind where they were when they entered the outrealm.
Azura and fCorrin would do that twice.
After they yeet the first of their female friends into a pocket dimension off the astral plane so that she can time-lapse her pregnancy, you would think that someone in the army would figure out some sort of birth control spell/concoction/herb/something so that they don’t have to worry about this again. That’s just good common sense, something we know Corrin lacks, but somebody else surely would suggest it. I feel like Camilla would have that under control - not to insinuate like that she’s a slut or something, but I mean that her older sister vibes tell me that she has the knowledge and supplies to dump on her three younger siblings to inform them how to have relationships safely without fear of unwanted children “and if anyone tries to pressure you otherwise, tell me and I’ll cut their head off” ;3c. She’s like that, I think.
And then the other big and uncomfortable problem with this setup is: some of the character ages.
Like, in Awakening, you’ve got Donnel, Ricken, and Lissa who seem the youngest. Depending on Robin’s gender and how the pairings fall, I think you could end up with two unmarried guys, so you could just have Donnel and Ricken not have children, but if you want to get every character you’ve got to have Lissa get married. I put her at 16/18 during the two parts of the game. Not a great age to have a kid at - but the thing about Awakening’s time travel is that she’s not having a kid at that age. Owain’s from the future, and the only child born during the events of the game is Lucina. It still felt a little weird to see those younger ones getting married, Lissa might be getting a ring now from someone just as young as she is (in the middle of a war) but kids are still years off. That...somewhat lessens the discomfort.
And then. sigh. then there’s Fates. Where no pocket dimensions and strange flow-of-time can get around the fact of character ages, because their children might be growing up fast but they are not from the future. Those kids are born during the course of the game. And like! Elise and Sakura! They’re my baby sisters! I don’t want my baby sisters to be teen moms during a war! That’s just weird and gross and uncomfortable! They’re my baby sisters. I want to find my siblings good partners but I’m not going to matchmake for my baby sisters if that’s the result.
So looping all the way back around to your question - I have no idea, honestly. Anything except time travel/coming from an entirely alternate timeline in the future has all of the above problems baked in, and then future-kids is just an Awakening rehash. Like I was about to suggest that it’d be interesting if for Birthright/Conquest, the kids came from an alternate timeline of the other path, where their side lost the war, but firstly that’s just Awakening rehashed again, secondly Corrin spares as many people as possible so we don’t have dead parents, and honestly it’s not even a dark dire future in Awakening. Like for Nohr in Birthright, Leo gets crowned king of Nohr, his kid is going to have no drive to come back and change the past because it’s fine, there’s holes in the family where Aunt Elise and Uncle Xander are missing, but this is not dire enough to need to find a way to change fate. And thirdly, for the few characters who do die - since we’re using Birthright as the example, Elise and Xander - that would mean that their kids were born before the end of the route, which runs into that same Elise problem! If you wanted “the kids as refugees from a dire timeline” it’d have to be one where Garon won and then again, just play Awakening for that plot.
Conceptually I think it’s interesting to draw the kids in from a different timeline where Corrin made the other choice - “Roddy what about Revelation?” I don’t fucking know man - and see how they react to Corrin being on that side, fighting for their country, with their parents, but... then that runs into the problem of spoiling the other route. Like if you played Conquest first and Xander’s kid says he died before they were born, well, that’s awkward. And again, Elise - in Conquest you could pair her with like, Kaze, who was with Corrin the whole time, always on Corrin’s side no matter what, and then that creates a plot hole of it having been literally impossible for that kid to have come from a Birthright-esque timeline because they couldn’t have existed then because Kaze could’ve even died before Corrin reunites with Elise. No, that concept can’t work. Too much potential for plot holes and stretching too weirdly to try and cover it.
I don’t know. I don’t know if you can fix it without becoming an Awakening rehash or turning Fates into something entirely different...which, it’s Fates. Might not be a bad thing to do that.

Robin slipped inside as the door opened, Henry and Tharja following close in his wake.  Pausing for an extra moment, he watched the woman bar the door securely after them -- and only then did he remove the skull helm, tucking it under his arm and running his right hand through his hair.  “Thank you, Miss,” he offered, bowing as the woman turned her wondering gaze on them, “and I apologize again for the intrusion at such a late hour.”
“No -- oh, no, please, don’t apologize,” she insisted.  “Please, welcome, make yourselves at home -- would you like some tea?”
“No thank you,” he replied -- but too late, as she had already bustled off into what he presumed was the kitchen to begin.  Shrugging to Henry and Tharja, he moved to take a seat on the couch, the two dark mages settling on either side of him; while Tharja pulled out her mirror and began to run her finger over the surface, Henry peered curiously around the room, pointing out little things that seemed familiar among the Ylissean decor.  Robin, though, simply focused on the humming in his blood: the woman’s fear, not so much relieved as redirected, tugging at the edges of his senses, the gentler draws of two more elsewhere in the house…
“Here we are,” she said, bustling back with a tray and four cups.
Robin smiled as he took one, sipping the bitter brew without flinching.  “Thank you,” he murmured, setting it back while the dark mages tended their own.  “Ah, please excuse my manners: I am Robin, and these are my companions, Tharja and Henry.  It is very good to meet you.”
“It’s an honor,” she replied, bowing deeply before taking her seat across from them.  “I am Karine.  ...gods, please forgive me, I heard that the Heart had been born but I never imagined I would meet you...please, what brings you here?”
“I take it you know what has been going on?” Robin ventured.
She shook her head.  “Not much.  Rumors, mostly.  Grimleal being rounded up and taken to Grima knows where…”
North of here.  That is all I can sense.
“We have become aware of much the same,” he agreed, folding his hands gently.  “We find it deeply alarming that our sisters and brothers in Ylisse face such terror, so we have come to offer you an escape: should you will it, we can provide safe passage for you and yours to Plegia, and harbor you until the danger passes.”
“Is...is it not more dangerous for you to be here than anyone else?” she ventured.
A faint smile twitched across his lips.  “That may be true,” he agreed, “but I could not bear the suffering of my fellow Grimleal in silence any longer.  Their pain cries out to me, and so I have come to answer, and do all I can to see it soothed.”

6. Something they instantly liked about the place?
The landscapes and architecture. Shortly followed by the fact that all the knightly traits were still alive in that place. You know, honor, chivalry, selflessness, bravery… Especially in men, that was very attractive to her. And made her feel even more like a complete trash. xD
18. How are their tactician abilities discovered?
It was Chrom’s doing. Besides Sharena who’s universally friendly, Chrom was Reuska’s first friend in the FE realms. While the Order (mainly Anna and Alfonse) perceived her as a complete disappointment and a joke of a Summoner, Chrom’s first impression of her was completely different. He was Reuska’s first summon and he eavesdropped on her as she was arguing with Geir (seemingly with herself). She was refusing to perform the summoning on a country’s ruler, that was strongly against her morals. But Chrom was in a difficult stage of his life, three years after the war, feeling like a prisoner in a golden cage and mourning for his lost wife. The more Reuska tried to talk him out of going, the more he wanted to rebel and do just that. But he saw that she was putting his country’s interest before her own and that earned his respect. Besides, something about her demeanor reminded him of Skara and it felt intriguing and refreshing to him. That’s their dynamics in a nutshell.
Well, and during the first stage of her stay, Reuska spent her time by just slacking around, feeling like a miserable piece of trash, only summoning when possible. No one wanted more from her, no one expected she would be capable of more. She was already framed as a useless human being. Well, not at summoning, she made an impression by bringing Chrom so early, but that was pretty much all.
At some point she got a short introduction to basic strategy, just so she would not mess up and go in someone’s way. I’m not yet sure who would teach her, maybe even Alfonse, out of obligation, but certainly someone else with him.
Since the strategy is not decided by just one person in my HC, but a war council consisting of important royals and commanders, Chrom one day suggests they should invite Reuska as well because she is crucial for the whole thing. It doesn’t exactly meet with an excitement on neither side but the invitation is made and as much as Reuska doesn’t want to go (she always tries to avoid any exposure of her uselessness), she would feel even worse to refuse. She feels really bad at the meeting, trying to stay back, out of sight, only imagining what a bother she must be for everyone. It gets worse when Anna starts to present her strategy plan because Reuska just can’t see any sense in it. As she is listening to Anna’s presentation, she’s making faces: frowning, raising eyebrows, raising her lips… and Chrom notices. Skara used to do exactly the same thing when she didn’t agree with something which makes him ask Reuska what’s wrong. As happy as she can be, Reuska has to admit that even though she has been introduced to the strategy basics, she still fails to understand the positioning in Anna’s plan. That sparks some interest in the council and Reuska is asked, by Anna herself, to explain.
Well, and Reuska burns down the whole plan. One by one, she points out gaps in the troop positioning, unconsidered scenarios,… and she’s completely oblivious. She’s seriously convinced she’s just exposing her lack of knowledge, making herself look like an even bigger idiot.
I don’t have to add she made an impression that day… ;D
42. How will their story end?
That’s a long and detailed story, get ready xD
Nearly at the very end of the Feh story, whatever the final battle will be, Reuska makes an attempt to summon Skara - to make Chrom happy, as a thank you for everything he has done for her. She almost suffocates in the process but she actually manages to bring Skara back from the void (in a really bad shape, skinny, almost bald) which sparks a negative reaction among most of the Heroes as they fear that bringing back Skara brought Grima back as well. Alfonse is not part of the opposition, he freshly discovered the true nature of his feelings for Reuska so he tends to make excuses for her, besides, he’s worried about her as she has been unconscious ever since the summoning. The final battle draws near and neither Reuska, nor Skara have awoken yet so the Order has to leave them behind in a base camp. When Reuska finally wakes up, Skara is already conscious and the two talk. It turns out, to Reuska’s horror, that Skara is still Grima as well. Even though the Fell Dragon is under Skara’s control now, she has changed, becoming more “grima-ish” (more selfish, little caring about the greater good, she only cares about her closest ones). However, upon talking with Reuska who’s strikingly honest in her terror, Skara takes a liking of her and decides to join her cause. She summons the dragon and the two women fly on its back to the battlefield where they side with the Order and kick the final villain’s ass.
There is this moment of happiness when Reuska hugs with Alfonse and he whispers to her that she did it, she won the war. But since the war is really over, Geir’s curse is finally lifted and the original summoner finally materializes in front of them. It’s not a happy meeting, though, as he immediately informs them that together with the curse, his unique ability to open a portal to Earth is vanishing as well and they have literal seconds to send Reuska back. He opens the portal and Reuska has to choose. She’s still paralyzed by the sudden turn of events so she looks at Alfonse and he, just as paralyzed, says “Go!”. So she leaves. The portal closes and it’s over.
This pretty much breaks Alfonse. We all know how badly he took Bruno’s disappearance and he had already developed a tighter bond with Reuska during the years of war. And that doesn’t even take his romantic feelings in account. And worst of all, he can’t handle the guilt that he chased her away himself (as he sees it). (It’s not hard to guess why he did it, in the limited time he had, he thought more of her than of himself and he didn’t want Reuska to miss the chance to get back home.) He drops his Order membership, stops his daily sword training and locks himself away from the world in a library and his study and rarely comes outside. He begins to study magic which he always had a decent affinity for but never liked. Generally he gives up all the things he loved and takes on things he hated - to punish himself and keep twisting the dagger in the wound. He doesn’t really care much about his appearance, he lets his hair grow, that’s why my older Alfonse has a ponytail.
This takes two years. In that time, while Alfonse is emo in his quarters, Geir is actually working hard to find a way to Earth to fix things (this all is ultimately his fault, it all goes back to his failure hundreds years ago). After two years he is finally successful and approaches emo Alfonse with his findings which kicks up the emo boy (well, emo man now) back into a hopeful mood. They need both Askran and Emblan royal blood so they are joined by Veronica and together travel to Reuska’s home city. Luckily, Geir knows the place a bit thanks to the years of him “living” in Reuska’s mind so they manage to find her and she, overjoyed, accomodates them at her place. What was two years in Zenith was only four months on Earth but it was still very painful for her. And Alfonse, similar to Reuska after entering the FE realms, experiences a heavy case of suddenly lowered self-esteem. He loves the place, all the technology, science, knowledge - but it also means a painful realization that his own world is stuck with its development and has been stuck for centuries. Suddenly he’s certain that they all must have seemed like savages to Reuska which kind of complicates his initial plan to confess, grab her and live happily ever after. He is certain she would never willingly leave that wonderful place and go back with him. And Reuska never considered the option that Al could actually love her back, so she thinks they just came for a visit to properly say good bye and will leave soon. So the two dance around each other in a denser and denser atmosphere, they actually even have a fight because of all those unspoken things. And then they finally have a proper, honest talk, confess and after a round of getting parent’s consent (it’s an honor issue for Al) they leave for Askr and marry. Yaaayy.
They have three children, Geir, Zacharias and Alice. After Zacharias is born, Alfonse becomes the king (this version counts with either of his parents being alive at the time - might change) because there is a tradition of handing over the rule once the successor successfully fathers at least two of his own successors xD Geir (named after “uncle Geir”) is an impudent pacifistic healer and that kind of person you really, REALLY don’t want to get into an argument with because he won’t stop. But he’s a direct, just man and a good king material. Zacharias is a technical mind and the family black sheep. All he thinks about is Earth (they occasionally visit their granparents) and he doesn’t care about his Askran heritage, training and studies. He would probably be a green mage but… he studies physics texbooks from Earth instead. And once Alice profiles as an another ideal, responsible royal child, he makes a scene that he’s moving to Earth and eventually gets an unhappy consent from both his parents (Al is especially salty because that’s what he would do as well if he could) and leaves for Earth where he becomes a mechanical engineer (with the support of Reuska’s parents).
After Geir marries and has his own two children, Alfonse gives him the crown and that’s when Reuska can finally tell him that they are moving to Earth as well. She knew Alfonse never stopped loving that place, no matter what she told him, and that he dreamed of living and studying there. She waited for Geir to start his family because she didn’t want Al to be impatient with his son and giving up the rule. Alfonse is thrilled and SOOO happy when he’s finally told about the plan :). So the two finally go back to Earth. Alfonse gets his degree in astrophysics and becomes a professor. He might give it a try as a local politician too, I’m not yet sure. They travel a lot and stay in touch with Zacharias and his family. Interesting note: they are about the same age with Reuska’s parents when they leave Askr (the time difference).
Phew.

Have a bitter: Robin knows he's going to be taken by Grima. He tears up, tells Lucina that he loves her, and that she needs to kill him to stop Grima. She tearfully gives him one last kiss before running both him and herself through with Falchion.
Robin took a deep breath and held it, trying to calm himself. He’d left camp to clear his mind, trying to come to terms with what had been made so painfully clear just a day before. Whether he wanted to or not, he would become Grima. He’d tried to resist Validar with all his might, with every fiber in his being, but he’d still fallen under his control. And it didn’t take a genius to connect the rest of the dots, to see where Validar’s plan went and what his part in those plans would be. He’d be forced to kill Chrom, and then he’d be taken over by Grima, used as a vessel to destroy the world.
He was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard footsteps, and turned to see Lucina walking towards him. His shoulders fell at the look on her face as he realized what she was here for, what she was going to do. She stopped a few feet from him, and they stared at each other passively for a moment before Robin spoke.
“I’m not going to fight you.” She didn’t respond, but he saw the look in her eyes change. “I know that you have no other choice, if you want to save the future.” He let his head hang low, and paused for a second before he said, “I’m sorry.”
“You have nothing to apologize for. You’re innocent.” Lucina responded quickly. “I’m the one who should be sorry. I’m going to kill an innocent man, a good man and a loving husband.”
“Don’t apologize. You shouldn’t be sorry for trying to save the world.” Robin said, raising his head and locking eyes with her. A moment of silence passed between them, and then they both started to laugh lightly. “Look at us, trying to make excuses for the other.” Robin’s eyes started watering, and he turned away as he wiped the tears away with his sleeve. He sighed and mumbled, “I wish we could’ve had more moments like these.”
“Me too.” Lucina said, before drawing Falchion. “… Are you ready?”
Robin turned to her and nodded, then got on his knees and closed his eyes. He felt the tears running down his cheeks, but didn’t try to wipe them away this time. He heard Lucina close the distance between them, and tensed up, ready for the pain and hoping that it would be over quickly. But it didn’t come, and instead he felt a gloved hand gently rest on his cheek. He opened his eyes and watched as Lucina knelt down to his level, then leaned forward and gently placed her lips on his. Despite his fear and his despair, Robin leaned into it and tried to forget for a moment what was about to happen.
They parted, and Lucina gripped his shoulder tightly and raised her sword. Robin closed his eyes, then cried out as his chest exploded in pain. He could barely register Lucina’s arms encircling him, or her sobs as she cried. Everything was getting fading and getting darker, until finally he went limp in her arms.
Lucina couldn’t move or pull away as she sobbed, holding onto her dead lovers body and cursing every god she knew for what fate had done to her. She stayed like that for a long time, until eventually she withdrew her sword and turned the point towards herself. There wasn’t any fear in her mind, nor any hesitation. She’d saved the world at too terrible a price, and she’d swore to be with Robin in life and in death.
She brought the blade down, and cried out as the pain coursed through her and caused her to fall back, looking up at the dimming sky. She thought she heard someone call out to her, thought she heard someone crying and another person yelling for help, but eventually everything went dark for her, too.

Fire emblem or pokemon. For the ask please!
I’m going to do Fire Emblem: Awakening. If you want Pokémon, please send that in another ask! (And specify games or anime---it matters!)
My favorite parent-child relationship
Chrom and both Lucina and (male) Morgan. I know there’s a tendency in fandom to characterize Chrom as this bumbling, clumsy dad who has no idea what he’s doing---but in canon we actually see that he’s a loving, supporting father who can get stern when necessary (that cockroach incident), but also cares deeply about both of his children and tries incredibly hard to be there for them. While we don’t get to see as many interactions between Chrom and Morgan as I would like (we only get their supports since Morgan doesn’t get to be involved with the actual plot), I still do love the supports, and the potential that is there for drama and conflict given that, in some timelines, Grima!Robin spirits Morgan away in order to raise him to be her perfect little soldier. (I even have an AU in my head for a scenario in which that happened, but then Morgan later falls into the Shepherds’ custody. There’s quite a bit of strife, particularly since Chrom and Lucina are adamant about not harming him, but others such as Frederick and Severa feel that he’s a threat, and Morgan himself is quite messed up due to all of the years of psychological abuse that Grima laid on him. I’ve never written anything for it, but damn do I have it in my head.)
So yeah, definitely Chrom with both of his children. My family. ♥
My favorite sibling relationship
LUCINA AND MORGAN, HANDS DOWN. Man, words can’t describe how much I love their relationship! Aside from the supports being adorable, there’s potential for conflict and development here that doesn’t exist in Lucina’s other sibling relationships, and that potential lies in the fact that---over the course of the plot---Lucina attempts to kill their mother. Obviously she can’t bring herself to follow through with it regardless of what choice is made, but she still draws Falchion against their mother, which is something that I feel Morgan would have a very negative reaction to, particularly given how much he adores Robin. (Of course, he’s not allowed to participate in the plot and so we never see him find out, but even still.) I do think that this would all be smoothed over in that same scene (I actually wrote a fic of that once, but it’s no longer on Tumblr---I can repost it if anyone wants), but all the same it would definitely cause conflict and strife, and that conflict simply doesn’t exist if Lucina’s mother is anyone else.
There’s also the fact that Morgan has amnesia, which is something that I think would also add more depth to their relationship. Lucina remembers all of the horrors that existed in the Bad Future, and Morgan doesn’t---and in a way, I think Lucina would be grateful for this, that her little brother was spared the memories that give her nightmares and keep her up at night, that motivate her to keep fighting for a better future, while plaguing her with anxiety and vicious fear all the while. But at the same time, Morgan losing his memories of the Bad Future means that he also lost his memories of her, and I think that would hurt. He regains some over the course of the plot---he does remember her, at least to some extent---but many of his memories are simply gone, and since I imagine they were very close, I think that would probably hurt Lucina a lot, too. (And Morgan himself would feel guilty, even as she assured him that he shouldn’t.)
And then there are the AUs---some of which we even see in-game, such as in Future Past---wherein Grima!Robin takes Morgan away, and Lucina has to keep fighting on without her brother, and if the are reunited at any point, he has been abused and warped to the point where he’s actively trying to fight and kill her despite how badly she wants to save and protect him. God, the angst quotient is off the charts here, so on top of the two being sweet and loving, how could I not love this?! BEST SIBLINGS, HANDS DOWN.
My favorite family relationship (other)
I have to admit, though, that I really do love Chrom and Lissa’s relationship. Their supports, wherein he takes none of her self-deprecating bullshit about being a bad princess (and insists that she’s a great princess, and proves it by having her talk to the others around camp) is very sweet, and I love how we get to see them support each other throughout the game as well. To that end, I do consider Frederick to be a pseudo part of their family (in the way that Zazu is to the lions in The Lion King, kind of), and I love his relationship with them as well. Frederick is best family babysitter, by far.
My favorite friendship between two people
I’m really attached to Robin and Gaius in this regard, largely in part due to my headcanon that they were childhood friends from ages 12-15, though Robin doesn’t recall it during the amnesia. This, of course, causes some angst on Gaius’ part, but even setting that aside I just love the way they bounce off each other and I really enjoy the friendship, even if a large part of my enjoyment comes from that headcanon.
But that said?
I also really cherish Chrom’s friendship with Gaius! I think that Gaius is a very important relationship for Chrom, because aside from the fact that Gaius is his future brother-in-law Gaius broadens Chrom’s horizons while at the same time making no illusion to the fact that he’s not doing this for Chrom’s benefit, he’s doing it so that Chrom can stop inadvertently rubbing salt in existing wounds due to Gaius’ own low, underprivileged status. Chrom isn’t trying to be insensitive in his supports, but he is nonetheless---and Gaius makes it clear that his actions in showing Chrom the seedy underbelly of the world are to stop those microaggressions and open Chrom’s eyes to what he’s doing, while at the same time doing so in a way that isn’t as harsh of a shut down as he originally dished out. Gaius offers some reality to Chrom, in other words, and this helps Chrom grow as a person. I really enjoyed their supports.
My favorite friendship between a group
THE JUSTICE CABAL, OF COURSE! Specifically, Owain, (male) Morgan, and Cynthia. All of their supports are absolutely fantastic, and the amount of shenanigans that they can (and do) get up to are unreal. I actually still have an idea for a birthday fic wherein Cynthia and Owain give Morgan a Justice Cabal birthday (shenanigans GALORE), but I haven’t written it yet despite having the idea for several years running now. Maybe I’ll do that this coming May.
My favorite mentorship
Mmm, is there one? I suppose the closest is Robin and Morgan, with the way she tries to teach him various tactics and strategies even as he tries to surpass her. It doesn’t get very much focus, though.
My favorite rivalry
Hah, probably Chrom and Vaike, if only because I can’t think of another one, and Vaike is pretty insistent that Chrom is his rival throughout their supports. (Meanwhile, Chrom tries to pretend that he doesn’t reciprocate, but let’s be real . . . he does. He reciprocates a lot. That cooking contest proves it.)
My favorite hatred/antipathy
MMMMMMM, honestly? There are quite a few good ones that I could name (such as Chrom and Gangrel, for instance), but I think the one that catches my attention the most is the one between Grima and Chrom.
Like, honestly---Grima against the royal family in general could work, because obviously there is a lot of antipathy between Grima and Lucina due to the Bad Future, and between Grima and Robin due to the fact that Robin was bred like a prized dog in order to be Grima’s vessel---but I focus on Chrom because I feel like Chrom stands to have the most to lose here, particularly in a timeline where Chrom and Robin are married and have their children. If Grima possesses Robin, then Chrom loses his wife. If she takes Morgan, he loses his son. Lucina could die. Chrom himself could die, and in my Risen!Chrom AU, well . . . he meets a far worse fate at Grima’s hands. When you consider the fact that Chrom is the Exalt during the vast majority of the plot and the fact that he is the one that wields Falchion and carries the Fire Emblem, that also marks him as Grima’s primary enemy, even though Robin is Grima’s primary target. They’re not quite at foetp level for me, but there’s definitely a ton of antipathy there, and I think it’s quite fun to work with.
My favorite potential relationship between characters who never talk in canon
The DLC chapters actually give us a lot of interaction between characters who don’t otherwise have supports, and so technically these characters do get to talk in canon, but I’m still angry that we never had legitimate supports between Lucina and Severa. There’s no excuse for it and I’ll never be over it, especially since Future Past heavily insinuates that Severa is Lucina’s second-in-command. There was no reason not to give us supports between them, IntSys. None.
