One time when I was in a public speaking class in college this girl gave a persuasive speech on why we should ban GMOs and vaccines because she claimed they’re giving children autism and I sat with my jaw on the floor her entire speech and then next class (2 days later) I had to give my presentation so I scrapped my entire original presentation and did extensive research on the benefits of both and just stared her down the entire time I gave speech and she cried

Imagine COVID killing a family member that you love dearly, telling people that you and some friends of yours have lost loved ones to COVID because you want them to take it seriously, and someone's response is "So?" SO? SO?? This is worse than just being ignorant about it! This person isn't denying that COVID is real, they just don't care! They say "So?" to someone who suffered loss of family! What a callous, heartless, selfish POS of a human being! I'm sure when she or a loved one is lying in a hospital bed, laboring to breathe and past the point of being able to do anything about it, they will remember they had said that.

No one believes in that little girl more than her mom. Cara encourages her to dream big, and always lends her a shoulder to cry on when she fails - before again encouraging her to get up and try again.

As she ages, Cara teaches her daughter about her body. She teaches her that her body is hers, and no one has the right to control her or use her. She teaches her daughter the importance of her health and taking care of herself too, including the importance of vaccines to stop her from getting sick, or spreading sickness to others. Cara's daughter grows up seeing a mom who values staying healthy and being able to protect herself, and loves being able to emulate her by learning healthy habits and to fight.

(Din teaches her to fight too, of course, but mainly sticks to shooting and things where he doesn't have to fight against her, because that's his baby girl. Cara, however, is a woman who knows there are parts of the galaxy where you can't count on anyone but yourself, and teaches her daughter to protect herself. She loves her daughter and that's why she doesn't shy away when they spar.)

Cara never was a dress person, but every style whim of her daughter is indulged and praised. Sometimes she has to remind her daughter that she's a princess, and decorum is expected, whether it's in a formal gown or in a ceremonial set of armor. But other times they mix and match pieces until they fall over laughing over crazy color and style combos.

There were plenty of Alderaanian traditions passed from mother to daughter, and Cara passes those on too. Fairy tales, special hair braids, little traditions like that seeing a thranta means good luck and that's why there's a thranta charm hanging over her bed. Cara's was destroyed with Alderaan, so she made her daughter a new one. Cara loves when they sit together on the bed and just talk. She loves hearing her daughter's words, her intelligence, and always keeps secrets that are just between girls.

i literally dont even need proof cause it feels so obvious in hindsight that nico’s an anti vaxxe, however, please drop the evidence cause i need to see how batshit it is

according to a bunch of different sports/car/whatever sites that ive never heard of who are citing this article that i cant read because it is in german this is what has happened:

nico said he hasnt got and doesnt plan to get vaccinated because he has already had covid and his doctor said he should be resistant enough to not need the covid vaccine. formula one, again, according to these articles, haven't taken that as a valid reason have banned him from the paddock as such. If this is real this will be big news, as Nico is inherently allowed to attend any gp he likes as a perk of being a world champion. im tempted to not believe this by sheer virtue of f1s inability to grow a backbone and come to a firm decision on anything of real importance or relevancy, especially when it comes to the wellbeing of their staff.

i want to reiterate the sites publishing articles claiming this are ones i have never heard of and do not believe, especially as most just sourced each other and couldnt be bothered to find the actual source, which i found through gpblog.coms article. i made my "nico antivax confirmed" post more as a joke (hence it being untagged) and advise everyone to wait until sky, the bbc, f1 itself or another verified source confirm this information. it is VERY funny to joke about however

Well I forgot anti-maskers existed and I certainly thought they'd given up.

So I saw a lot of anti-maskers saying that "this virus is small so it'll go through your mask!"

Would you like a fancy ass respiratory mask? I don't think so. Also, tell me why I didn't get COVID ONCE during the pandemic, despite interacting with people who had COVID at the time, but when I stopped wearing a mask, in 2022, I got COVID. So is it just by chance? I mean yeah, anything bad can happen even with as many precautions as you'd like, but not taking those precautions at all would endanger you more.

So yeah, end of the story, anti-maskers, dni you're fucking stupid, go back to kindergarten :)

Omg hi all. It's been a while since I made an LO thing!!

And in honor (or rather dishonor) of the comic's return tomorrow, I thought I'd make this.

So here's a run down of which characters I think are antivaxxers, pro vaccine, or other.

ANTIVAXXERS

Persephone and Hades: They're both so fucking stupid, of course they'd be antivax.

Daphne: She's a sociaI media infIuencer. She'd use crystals to feel better.

Hera: She's conservative.

Kronos, Hermes, Aphrodite and Eros: They just have the vibes. Also Aphrodite and Eros would be essential oil bitches.

Artemis: She'd think her immune system would be too strong she she wouldn't feeI the need.

PRO VACCINE

Heph, Aetna, and Athena: I feeI Iike they'd aII be smart enough to know vaccines are good. Maybe that's wishfuI thinking. Aetna is an AI so she wouId be very adament about that position.

Zeus: I just feeI Iike he wouId be.

Demeter: She's the onIy smart one in this comic.

Leuce and Thanatos: They'd have very shaky opinions. But one Instagram infographic wouId be enough to sway them otherwise.

Hecate: She had common sense at one point.

Psyche: She's smart, I feeI.

Hebe: Zeus had her vaccinated behind Hera's back. She's aIso probabIy be swayed by an infographic and/or peer reviewed paper.

Amphitrite: Vibes.

Arion: I think it'd be funny if the horse was pro-vax

Ares: I aIso think it'd be funny if Ares was very adament about vaccination and Aphrodite was against it. But aIso vibes. He'd secretly get his kids vaccinated because he's a loving father and RS can't convince me otherwise.

OTHER

Dionysus: Victim of anti-vaxx "parents".

Thetis and Eris: They'd be antivax just to make peopIe mad. They're indifferent otherwise.

Minthe: Indifferent but she wouId vaccinate a kid if she had one.

Hestia: Hestia's opinion wouId change with the wind depending on who she's with.

Poseidon: He has no opinions at aII and trusts Amphitrite to deaI with the immunizations of their kids.

Chiron: Pro vaccine in pubIc, antivaxx in private. I feeI Iike she's super conservative but she hides it. I don't Iike Chiron.

Apollo: His opinion aIso changes depending on who he's with. OnIy this time it's extra malicious.

Today grown woman nearly does something stupid…

…because I didn’t stop to think. I know not to sign something without reading it and yet I started to on my way into the Oddities and Curiosities Expo. A nice lady out front said she was taking signatures to get an independent on the ballot in Texas.

Now my addled brain is not asking the obvious question… “Who?” I am literal. I am thinking it’s an independent and that they don’t know who yet. Now that’s a reason not to sign also. I’m just so cheerful about heading into a place where my people are that I start signing…

…until another party rolls up and asks who. And the lady says… so help me, I could slap myself…

I immediately began to scribble out everything I’d written, muttering, “Nope, nope, nope,” under my breath. The lady said, “Oh… you don’t like him?” I just said, “No… he’s a crackpot antivaxxer, sorry,” and bailed.

I usually never stop at those tables. I need processing time before decisions. It’s now become personal policy.

The lady had been chortling about how many signatures she was getting. Yeah, those would be the people who know nothing about your candidate. What could be worse than Trump or Biden, she’d asked. Congratulations, lady, your guy just might be the answer to that question.

I’m surprised I don’t see many people on here talking about the “intersectionality,” as it were, of antivaxxers.

As in:

An antivaxxer —> is an ableist —> is a conspiracy theorist that thinks “They” are trying to kill or cripple everybody —> is an antisemite who hates “the elite” —> is a xenophobe —> is a racist —> is a homophobe —> is a transphobe.

You will never, EVER meet an antivaxxer who isn’t also most, if not all of these as well (in particular the antisemitism that comes along with all conspiracy theories). They go perfectly hand-in-hand and you can guarantee that if someone is an antivaxxer, if you are not an able-bodied neurotypical cishet Christian English-speaking white person, there is at least one aspect about you that they want wiping out.

They think being disabled, especially autistic, is worse than death. They think Jews control Big Pharma and lie to you for money. They think being Jewish inherently makes you not of this country/world/species and they see that as a threat. They think the COVID vaccine gives you AIDS or turns you gay or trans. They think that being gay or trans means you’re diseased.

We know where we’ve heard all this rhetoric before. And the antivaxx movement is louder and more widespread than ever. It’s not just “haha stupid Facebook mom believes Minion memes over science.” It’s fucking dangerous and we need to treat it as such.
