Meanings: (Y/N)=Your name
Warnings: Just extreme fluff!
                                            *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"Are you quite alright, (Y/N)?" Simon asked his sister as they journeyed in their carriage.
(Y/N) had started fanning herself a little faster."I don't know why I'm so nervous. I just hope to make a good impression."
"Of course you will. I'm sorry you haven't met them sooner."
"I could have at least met your wife at the wedding, if I had been invited."
"We have been through this, (Y/N)."
"Yes, and I'm not trying to argue with you, Simon. I know you married in haste, and I know why, but you must admit, you've left this far too long. You have a son now!"
"You have been cooped up in that house with your matron as father intended. I think she would have had my head if I tried to get you out of there."
They laughed together.
"Simon?"
"Hm?"
"I am very excited to meet your wife and my nephew."
As usual, the Bridgerton house was abuzz with excitement and chaos. Eloise didn't understand why she had to dress up so much for this visit, Gregory and Hyacinth were bombarding everyone with questions about Simon's sister, Colin and Benedict tried but failed to escape the madness, Anthony watched everything unfold and Daphne nervously bounced her baby boy on her knee.
"Daphne, do not fret. His sister will love you." Anthony tried to reassure his sister.
"What if she's like their father? What if she heard all the rumours about us and judges me for it? Simon has never spoken of her, I have no idea what to expect."
"I met Simon's sister many, many years ago. She was nothing like the things you are dreading. (Y/N) was a lovely, respectable young lady, I'm sure she hasn't changed."
Daphne let a small smile grace her face, trying to convince herself that everything was fine. Simon had kept his family such a secret, she just wanted to ensure that his sister would want to stay and be part of theirs.
Simon playfully rolled his eyes as (Y/N) asked how she looked, not in vain, but in anxiety. Her dress was beautiful, her hair perfectly in place, her jewels glistened but they weren't ghastly, nothing was wrong. Her nerves were getting the better of her. Just as she was about to ask again, the carriage stopped. Simon chuckled at her panicked look, already stepping outside.
He held out his hand for her."You'll be absolutely fine. Just be you."
(Y/N) took a deep breath before taking her brother's hand, being extra cautious to not fall on her face, especially since the entire Bridgerton family were stood on their front steps.
As head of the household, Anthony was ready to start introductions, until (Y/N) lifted her head, showing her dazzling features. He had only admitted to himself that he had a fancy for her when he was younger, though who wouldn't? She was beautiful, smart and didn't try hard to impress anyone; she was just joyful to be around. (Y/N) had never pined for Anthony or tried to grab his attention at every moment, or any man for that matter. He definitely considered her a friend, he was somewhat angry at himself he hadn't written to her over the years. But seeing her now, it was a mystery as to why she hadn't been married yet? That was quickly solved when he remembered Simon was her brother.
Simon stuck beside his sister until Daphne stepped forward. They shared a short but loving kiss, before Simon took their son into his arms, cooing and laughing as the baby gurgled. (Y/N)'s heart melted at the sight.
"Oh, how we've missed you." Violet beamed, greeting her son-in-law.
"I apologise for the delay, the weather was not suitable for travelling. Nevertheless, everyone, this is my sister, (Y/N) Basset."
(Y/N) curtsied as all eyes were on her."Thank you for welcoming me into your beautiful home. I have been so excited to meet you all."
"Well, why don't we go inside? We can have proper introductions in the warm." Daphne hid her nerves, presenting herself well.
Everyone agreed, leading (Y/N) inside. The family lined up like soldiers, with Anthony stepping forward to introduce everyone.
"I hope I don't have to reintroduce myself." he teased.
"Of course not, how could I forget you, Anthony? After all the trouble you and Simon got into?"
He chuckled, but cast a worried look towards his mother. He quickly continued.
"My mother, Violet, sisters Daphne, Eloise and Hyacinth, and my brothers, Benedict, Colin and Gregory."
"And your nephew." Simon added.
(Y/N) reached out a finger for the baby to hold."Yes, he's bigger than I thought he would be."
"Children do grow so fast." Violet said.
"But you're here now to see him grow." Daphne quickly added. "And we're all very happy that you're finally here."
Everyone knew that it was Simon who had kept (Y/N) away. He loved his sister with all his heart, which is why he never saw her; she was living a happy life, he didn't want to dampen that.
"The chefs have prepared a marvelous lunch. The table is all set if you are hungry now?" Voilet asked.
"Oh, yes, as long as everyone else is."
As soon as (Y/N) agreed, Colin, Eloise and the two youngest were off. They were starving, even though they had eaten only a few hours ago. (Y/N) giggled to the relief of the others. They slowly followed behind, but Simon was hesitant. (Y/N) gently nudged him forward.
"Go, see your family. I have all the time in the world to get to know Daphne."
Simon thanked her, still carrying his son as his other arm wrapped around his wife. Another arm appeared in front of (Y/N), ready for her to take it.
"May I escort you to the table?" Anthony said.
"Thank you, I much appreciate it."
They both knew they were being dramatic, though it was sweet of Anthony to make the gesture.
"How many years has it been?"
"Too many."
"I'm sorry your brother hasn't involved you. If the...situation between him and Daphne had been different, I know you would have been here straight away."
"I know. And I understand how stressful that all was. But as said before, I'm here now. I must say Anthony, I have missed you."
"Really? Even after all those times Simon and I riled you?"
"Yes. Although annoying, you both had your tender moments. I remember one evening, you and Simon were returning from your club, and you both had found yourselves in a quarrel with some other members. They followed you home, and I was waiting by the back gate to sneak you back inside. They were closer than expected, and do you remember some of the horrible things they said to me?"
"Unfortunately I do. And I unfortunately remember what happened next."
"It was very chivalrous for you to defend me, though you needn't have fought. Your nose wouldn't stop bleeding!"
"But you were right by my side, holding a handkerchief for me."
"Yes, because if you got blood on the carpets, you would have something worse than a bruised nose."
The pair were laughing to themselves as they walked into the dining room. Most were already seated. Anthony guided (Y/N) to her chair, next to Simon, who stood to tuck it in, but Anthony beat him to it. Simon watched his friend's moves very closely, knowing deep down that Anthony was just being polite; however, he wasn't too fond that they were sat opposite each other, able to gaze into each others eyes.
Simon tapped his glass with a knife once everyone was sat, standing with said glass in his hand."Before we begin eating, I would like to propose a toast."
Everyone immediately grabbed their own glasses, except Eloise, taking her time as she huffed; couldn't they at least toast after the meal?
"To my sister, (Y/N). I am so happy that you're here with me, with us. I'm sorry I haven't been a better brother but that will change now. And I can't wait for you to get to know this loving family, who made me one of their own, as I know they will you."
"To family." Benedict finished.
"To family." Everyone cheered.
"Now the food. Please." Eloise needed a plate in front of her.
All through lunch, Simon kept a close eye on his sister and Anthony. He was awful at keeping up with conversations, slow at eating, he just had a weird feeling when he glanced at them both. Simon constantly apologised to Daphne, blaming the long journey for his daydreaming.
However, Anthony and (Y/N) might as well have been dining at their own table. They were in full conversation, of course others chimed in to join, but they couldn't stop reflecting on the past and laughing. It was impossible to not notice how well they were getting along, and Violet had a glint in her eye as she saw how much Anthony was smiling. He never smiled this much, and the way he was looking at (Y/N) reminded her of how her husband used to look at her.
After dinner, they retired to the drawing room, sipping on fresh lemonade as Hyacinth showed off her new skill on the piano. Simon sat with his child in his lap, Daphne by his side, and although he was thoroughly enjoying the time with his family, he couldn't stop gazing over at his sister.
Unsurprisingly, (Y/N) and Anthony were cosied up, still smiling ear to ear as they continued talking. How could they have so much to talk about?
"Let's put him to bed Simon, for a nap. He's getting fussy." Daphne interrupted his thoughts.
Simon didn't want to cause a scene, agreeing to put their son down together. Even as they left the room, Simon's eyes lingered, and he immediately became tense once they were out of sight.
"Has my brother dazzled you?"
Simon was quiet as he laid down his son."Hm?"
"Well you haven't stopped staring at him all night."
He sighed."Was I that obvious?"
"You were indeed. Would it be so bad?"
"What?"
"Would it be so bad if my brother loved your sister?"
"Daphne-"
"Has he been disrespectful? Has he done her wrong? Has he done anything that we did?"
He was stumped. Although his brotherly instincts were kicking in, wanting to protect (Y/N), realistically he knew Anthony would never hurt her. Anthony was trustworthy, he knew him inside out and just from tonight, there was something there.
Simon didn't reply, but Daphne knew he wasn't ignoring her. She could see him thinking it all over as he walked to the window.
"It's only good news depending on how you look at it."
"I know, but it will be fine-"
"No, look!"
Daphne quickly joined her husband at the window, trying to see what he was looking at. Down in the gardens was Anthony and (Y/N) taking a stroll. The pair were lit by the setting sun which was casting a beautiful orange and pink glow across the garden. Although they had not stopped talking through the afternoon, now they were silent, both silently worrying that the other had no more to say.
"(Y/N)-"
"Anthony-"
The spoke at the same time, pausing for a moment before laughing. Anthony said nothing, being a gentleman and letting (Y/N) speak.
"I was just going to say how much I have enjoyed our time together. It feels as if no time has passed since the last time I saw you."
"How long will you stay?"
"Sorry?"
"Well, are you staying for a short visit? Or perhaps an extended time?"
"Simon and I have not discussed that as of yet. I am to be staying with a friend of mine who lives in the Ton, so I shall be here for a little while."
Anthony couldn't help but smile."Good, that is good news."
They were quiet again as they continued walking, only taking small steps as they wee nearing the end of the garden. They were standing close to one another, and although they had linked arms before and been sat on the plush sofas, this held more tension. Perhaps it was the way neither of them wanted to startle the other, despite their desperate want for affection. As their minds drifted off to where this was leading, their hands ever so delicately brushed. Both were startled, halting their steps and looking at each other.
"My apologies-"
"Anthony, it's fine. I...I just wouldn't have expected this."
Anthony thought for a moment, glancing down at their hands that were no longer close. He didn't like it. He wanted to be bold and take the next step, even if it was just holding one another's hand. But this was Simon Basset's sister. And it was (Y/N), who he had the upmost respect for.
"Miss Basset?"
"Anthony, why are you calling me that?"
"May I enquire into the address of your new lodgings?"
"Yes? Why?"
"So that I may call on you in the morning?"

HONEY, I CHOOSE YOU. — A. BRIDGERTON
word count. — 2.5k+  sum. — jealous!anthony being in absolute idiot, but an idiot in love nonetheless.
Tumblr media
HE HAD BEEN WATCHING YOU all night, the ball his mother and Lady Danbury had meticulously planned coming together splendidly. The last few he attended, you had danced away with your soon to be betrothed.
Prince Rogers.
He seemed to be everything Lord Bridgerton was not. Where Prince Rogers had silky blonde hair and bright blue eyes, the Viscount had chestnut colored hair accompanied by his even darker eyes. He had even learned the gossip of the ton — the man who seemed to occupy all your time was even tempered and carried himself with the utmost patience.
Anthony did not.
He hadn’t been calm ever since the prince had been courting you and it drove you mad. Any fool could see jealousy had overtaken him, slicing any tranquility he had into ruins. Alas, you were preoccupied and couldn’t see the vibrant green flashing in Anthony’s eyes — how he lost hold of rational thought and good sense when it came to you.
Benedict had warned him of it, the night he chose to go to Siena instead of you. He told him he was making the wrong decision, leaving you in the wind when you had poured your heart out to him. The night you spoke freely and lovingly to him and it cost you more than you’d bargained for. The look in his eyes, the maddening one, as if you had told him he had six months to live.
Even when he saw the aftermath of his rejection flow over you, he did not try to repair the damage, he watched as he saw the strongest person he knew cried over him.
All because he too had his heart broken that night and he couldn’t stop the cruel words falling from his tongue as he watched the pure anguish turn into boiling hot fury.
He thought he knew better to leave you alone — he wasn’t looking for a love match and you were. He had made sure to make it abundantly clear the fateful night Anthony had quite literally ripped your heart out.
Even if it had occurred last season, the wound was still open and Anthony’s quest to find a wife only added to it even more so. None of it made sense.
You were being courted by a Prince, someone of greater status than Anthony yet his stupidly, stubborn being wouldn’t leave you. No matter what lengths he went to hurt you, there was still love there that you carried.
So, when you walked outside, Anthony followed you out to the garden but kept enough distance between the two of you. Your back was facing him, not even a little bit aware of his presence. He realized this had been the closest he’d been to you all season and it wounded him.
Not that he’d admit it outright but your absence had left a gaping hole in his life — one he was never expecting to have. Maybe it was why he sought after you, especially tonight. Your presence is something he deeply missed and craved to be around. Even if you were on the precipice of being betrothed to someone of higher rank, he couldn’t stop himself.
He wanted to be near you, to touch you, to feel the softness of your skin, what it might feel against his own — he wanted all of it.
But love came with a price, one he had seen his mother paid and he wouldn’t put you through that.
He couldn’t.
You deserved everything the world could offer and it wasn’t him. He could only offer you a few years when the Prince could offer you more than what he could.
“Will you stop hiding in the shadows, Lord Bridgerton?” You spoke astoundly. As if him following you was something as concrete as the flowers blooming with the help of London’s rain.
Still having no fear for his title, or coming off proper as London society deemed. You stayed true to who always were — a forethought he was more than grateful for and admired often.
Every woman in the ballroom would fall to their knees if he so asked, begging for just one chance with him. He knew it to be true — the only thing they cared about was his title and the gallant lifestyle which came with it. He didn’t mind it though, he himself had certain qualifications he was looking for in his wife, but none of it really mattered now.
Maybe in the beginning of the season, when he was courting Miss Edwina, it mattered then. She ticked off all his boxes and then some, but her older sister had been making the situation rather difficult and then he heard word of the proposal the night before last and it consumed him.
He thought you had accepted, after all he was a prince who had proposed — anyone would have immediately accepted if they were in your shoes.
But you weren’t just anyone and suddenly, when your body turned and your eyes catching his own, Anthony couldn’t possibly comprehend why he ever chose anyone else over you.
Neither of you said a word as he inched closer and closer until he stopped right in front of you.
“You can’t handle it.” Your eyes tracing from his eyes to lips and back up to warm chestnut colored eyes you dream of far too often.
“And what are you referring to exactly?” The viscount questioned while enjoying the close proximity. “You know what I’m speaking of. I’m sure of it, my lord.”
“Perhaps, but I would like to hear it from you.” Maybe, for this time to your eyes, he didn’t appear to be arrogant. They hold a sincerity you hadn’t seen before and you wondered if it had always been there and you just weren’t really looking.
“You can’t handle someone courting me, much less a prince. I’m sure you’ve heard from our gossiping mothers he proposed. Yes?“ He simply nodded, not trusting his own voice to speak.
“He's a kind man, my lord. He’s handsome, charming, and seems to hold me in high esteem. He doesn’t make me feel inadequate nor does he try to silence my opinions because I’m a woman. He listens to me, respects my honor, and he comes with a title and a good family which shall give me the independence I desire. There shall be no better match than Prince Rogers.”
To the naked eye, it would have seemed you were declaring your love, but you weren’t. It’s the same reason you had exited the ball, hiding away in the gardens.
Anthony knew it and you loathed in the fact he did.
“Then why haven’t you accepted?” Anthony questioned, getting closer to you, as if that was even possible. He was sure you would be gloveless if you had, flashing the engagement ring off to London society.
But you were silent, offering him no response, only remaining in eye contact with him.
“I know you don’t love him, that's why you can’t say yes. It’s why you haven’t walked away yet and joined him inside. You don’t love him. I know it in my bones to be true.” He swore he could hear your heartbeat, thumping so loudly with rage, the words he let fall off his tongue being the direct cause.
“Lord Bridgerton, you did not get to accuse me and my decisions when I was clearly not your choice. Prince Rogers can give me the life I’ve always wanted. It may not be a love match but it’s more than anyone has ever offered and I can not continue to hold on to something which will never happen.” Your eyes were filled with tears you refused to let go of — just like the man in front of you.
“Your duty comes before all else. I understand.” You kept rambling on as if you were trying to persuade yourself into accepting the prince’s proposal.
“You cannot marry for love, you never will. I’ve heard it again and again. Anthony Bridgerton, the Viscount, swears to never even consider marrying a woman he might actually fall in love with.” You pushed away from him, his scent too intoxicating to even deal with.
He was too overwhelming in every way. He cared too much about your suitors. He looked at you far too often. He was too close with your mother and your father's passing made him even more protective over you. He was always too close, all the time. He always followed you into the garden, anytime you went, not caring the two of you would be unchaperoned.
He couldn’t keep his distance and it was going to be the end of you.
“I can’t keep doing this, Lord Bridgerton. I want a future with someone who wants me. Maybe I don’t love Prince Rogers, but I can learn to love him. Can’t I? My mother didn’t love my father but learned to. It’s what I must do.”
You weren’t even facing him — couldn’t even meet his eye. It was tortuous to him but there was no way you could look at him and refuse him. There was never a moment you had been capable of it and you weren’t sure if that would start now.
“This is what’s best, my lord. You can find the wife you feel can best suit the role of your viscountess and I can find independence and love in the suitor I will marry. You needeth not worry about me.” You spoke so quickly, Anthony could have swore it was all in one blink.
“If the Prince is who you want your future with, so be it..” You turned your body around but you were met with his chest pressed against yours,, his palm cradling your cheek as his gaze consumed you entirely. “But do not decide what it is I want. In this moment and every one which comes after, I only desire you by my side.”
His eyes watched your movement, waited for something, but you were still. Not moving a muscle as the man you love made a confession, one you dreamed for many nights — but he had the worst possible timing.
“Anthony.” The drop of his title made him happy. No matter how many times he told you to, if it wasn’t in the comfort of your own home or his, ‘Lord Bridgerton’ was the only way you would ever address him.
God, would he drop on his knees for you right now if you allowed him.
To hear your heavy moans as he pleasured you with his mouth, his fingers — better yet even both. He would give you everything under the sun, but you had to ask and then he’d know he was what you really wanted. In his mind, Anthony had messed up far too big for you to be with him.
“I don’t need this anymore — you…us. I have other things to make me happier. Hobbies and responsibilities that can fulfill me.” Even as if you were gutting his hopes with the sharpest of blades, he still moved closer to you, his breath on your lips as he nose nudged yours.
“But do you still want me?” Anthony’s voice dropping an octave lower like he was intentionally trying to torture you. “Do you still long for me as you once did?” The two of you were so engaged you weren’t quite sure where he body began and where yours ended.
You were sure you didn’t even want to know. It’s much more peaceful to be blissfully unaware, struck under his touch, his gaze, and most importantly his affection.
Deeply, you hated yourself for it.
You shouldn’t feel like this, after all this time. Wanting him to touch you, to kiss you, to ravish. You should have more self-control, more restraint — but you didn’t. Not when the advances came from him.
But he didn’t have a right to know any of it, he lost it when he mishandled you so easily as if you were nothing more than an afterthought.
“Anthony, please, don’t act like you actually care about me. As if you want me more than just one night.” The tone you were speaking in might have discouraged him, but with your body pressed against his, it was difficult to think of anything else.
“Just give me one more chance, I won’t disappoint you. I promise you.” He was so close to your lips, his breath on your own and it was pure torture. His strong arms wrapped around you like he was offering all the protection you would ever need.
“I can’t, Anthony. I cannot refuse his proposal. Everyone would see me as a fool and mark me as such. My family will be better off for it. Can’t you understand that I must do this for my mother if not anything else?”
He did, more than anyone and it terrified him.
“I’m sorry I showed up too late for us both.” There it was, an apology from the Viscount, the one who never seemed to bear any vulnerability to you. “I apologize for making you feel as if you’re not the most important person in my life. Truly, part of me has always known but I hid away from it for so long because I’m terrified.”
With his forehead rested on yours, his scent intoxicating you deeply, you had no strength to leave him. Especially not when he was telling you everything you wished for — the exact moment you dreamed about.
“Then tell me what I desire to hear.” You spoke so quietly, if he was more than a few feet away, he would have missed it. “You either want to marry me or this has been nothing but some cruel, and awful joke.”
He pulled away from you and for one horrifying moment it seemed he would walk away from you one last time, but instead he dropped to one knee.
“This is anything but my lady.” His careful hands found your own, bringing them to his lips.
“May I?” He gestured to your glove hand, wanting to remove the silk gracing your soft skin. “You may.”
Carefully, his fingers traced over your skin as he exposed your naked hand to him, one he was hoping to decorate with his mother’s ring. The one he and his mother had been reluctant to give up knowing Anthony’s true intentions.
The ones he uttered over and over until he was blue in the face — but now as he found himself down on his knee, he knew this was not a proposal of convenience or duty. You weren’t someone who had to check every mental checklist he had nor did he have to hound you with an endless line of questioning to make sure you would fit the role of being the perfect Viscountess.
Even if you were everything he was looking for when it came to duty, this came from love and it terrified him to his core. Stupidly, it may have taken another man to see what he should have known all long, but now he knew.
The one thing he feared more than love was losing you, and in that moment he decided he would choose you and never stop choosing you.
When you let out a yes between your cries, he chose you. When he slipped the emerald ring on your fingers, he chose you. When you kissed him fiercely, he chose you. When he walked back into the ballroom by your side hand in hand, he chose you.
He would never stop and he hoped you’d continue to choose him just like he would — this breath to his very last.

Most people would say that Anthony Bridgerton needed no one. Maybe not even his family and if the lady whistledown was to be believed. He was a rake through and through.
Which is why everyone was so shocked when word came of his engagement, even more so when his wedding day actually came. Everyone thought it would only be a matter of time before you came to your senses and called off the wedding.
The people of town said the title must be worth it, that maybe it was a marriage of economic proposition, a business deal pure and simple.
Maybe sometime in the start of your and Anthony’s coruship you thought that too, but you wondered what he could want from you? He had enough money, enough influence and honestly he could have anyone he wanted, but he picked you.
Now though you knew his feelings were true. He would always dance with you at parties, he would always make time for you, eat one meal a day with you and every night before you slept he would kiss your hairline and inhale.
You were happy and you hoped he was happy too.
After a long day Antony loved nothing more than climbing into bed, and watching you undress. Not even in a lustful way. It was amazing to him just how much work went into your day.
Your shy smile as you settled down next to him. While he looked through the last papers of the day you would read something, offered the latest lady whistledown, laughing at the odd line then nudging him and to tell tell him the line through a string of giggles.
Though he doesn’t get it the way you did he always graced you with a dry laugh and smile. He knew it was enough because you would sigh constantly and lean into him.
There was nothing Antony hated more than trying to sleep. It was something he had always struggled with, the room was either too warm or too cold, the bed too hard or too soft, something was always wrong.
He sat up defeated looking down to your peaceful sleeping face. Not wanting to disturb your sleep he took his dressing gown and headed to his study.
The sun had barely risen when you woke up with a feeling something was wrong, reaching out to Anthony’s side of the bed the feeling got worse. The dim light coming from the fire gave you a view of the whole room, where your husband was nowhere to be found.
After wasting four matches you finally lit a candle and went searching for Anthony. Aware the rest of the family were all fast asleep you walked as quietly as you could.
The door to Anthony study was open just a crack, you were just going to walk past but stopped hearing something.
Pushing the door open, stand in the doorway only with the small candle to light your line of sight.
“My love” you called out.
You heard what sounded like a muffed cry, with one last look behind you, you walked into the room. Holding the candle high above you to get a better view, turning on the spot to get the best look.
You nearly dropped the candle seeing Anthony curled up on the small sofa. “My love” you cried rushing over to him, you softly nelt on the floor before him, brushing his hair from his sweaty forehead.
“What happened?” You asked worriedly.
His breathing was too heavy which made you worry more, you were halfway to your feet about to call for a doctor when Anthony reached out of your waist.
“Please don’t leave me” he managed to get out through wobbly breaths.
“I’m not going anywhere” you nodded, sitting down beside him. “Just breathe for me love ''.
He did as you ask, with a little time.
You moved him so you were both lying down. Most of his weight was on you but after shifting around you didn’t mind. As you played with his hair you repeated that you were there and wouldn’t be leaving. He was fast asleep, relaxed and you felt confident enough to sleep yourself.
Giggling woke Anthony hours later, annoyed he looked to the door just in time to see two figures run away, he scoffed lying back down only to be confused by the hard surfaces on your shoulder. That’s when he remembered the night before, the sleepless night, the nightmare that followed when he had got some sleep and then you appeared like an angel in the doorway, holding him until his demons left.
He sat up feeling oddly rested, smiling seeing you still asleep.
Most people would say that Anthony Bridgerton needed no one. That wasn't true, he needed you. And as long as he had you he could live.

As usual, Anthony Bridgerton did not think any man was good enough for you. Being Daphnes bestfriend since you were little, you grew close with the entire Bridgerton family. Well, now it came time to find a husband, and there was many who lined up for you happily. Yet, Anthony seemed to have a problem with each man that you came across. Ten years ago your father had died, you had no male figure in your life and so your best friends older brother promised to play this part for you. Never did you expect him to be so stubborn in finding you your perfect suitor.
“My Lord, we can’t go on with this forever.” You sighed as he closed the door behind yet another man.
“Oh yes, if it means finding you the man you deserve we very well can.” He responded as you looked over at Daphne.
“Anthony, Lord Smith was a great option, he’s very well known in all the best ways-“
“He’s just not for her,” he responded dryly. Daphne looked at her brother strangely, not expecting him to have been so guarded of you to this extent. Anthony looked at you as you looked down in disappointment, his eyes softening up towards you.
“I just believe you deserve the very best, nothing short of it,” you looked up at him and softly smiled before he left the room.
Later on that evening you, Daphne and Violet went into town to do some dress shopping. Expressing your frustration with Anthony not being satisfied with any man that showed interest towards you made his mother frown looking at you.
“Lord Smith was rather interesting,” Violet raised a brow wondering why her son would not like him. Daphne quickly whispered to you and suggest finding a dress for the ball tonight that would be a bit more…revealing in a way. Looking at her confused, she bought you a peach like gown with a corset design that would emphasize on your breasts.
“I don’t know…this is more than what I’ve ever worn,”
“That’s the point,” Daphne whispered with a smile.
“All eyes will be on you even more than they already are!”
The idea excited you, many potential suitors would be present at the ball tonight, you knew you definitely would find someone there.
Later on that evening you went on with a maid to try on the dress for a fitting. Daphne waited in the parlor reading a book, excited for you to come down and show your new dress just as Anthony walked in.
“Brother! Wait until you see the magnificent dress I chose for Selene!” She snapped her book shut and stood up excitedly.
“This dress will have all the men of the ton just melting over her,”
“And what is that suppose to mean?” He turned to her with a raised brow. A flicker of jealousy running through him at the thought of mens eyes all over you. Anthony had been around you for many years yet it wasn’t until recently that he started to become attracted to you. He found you fascinating, interesting, and most definitely beautiful. This was something he struggled to admit to himself, feeling you were off limits as you were his younger sisters bestfriend.
“Oh you know, more options to come her way.” Daphne smiled with excitement.
“She attracts enough just on her own without any extra tricks, don’t you think?”
Daphne laughed at his response.
“Oh Anthony, you never fail to amuse me. Please let Selene know I’ll see her in the evening I completely forgot I had to help mama with a few things. She’ll be down soon with the new gown.”
Looking at yourself in the mirror you wore the peach colored gown that made your skin glow, your dark locks tied up into a braided bun, you felt beautiful. Although the dress was a bit more revealing than you imagined it to be. Already being a woman with bigger than average sized breasts, the dress only accentuated them more.
Making your way down the stairs to the parlor excited to show Daphne how the dress looked on you, you walked in surprised to see Anthony. His back to you he took a sip of his tea until he heard you and carefully placed the cup down.
"Where's Daphne? I thought she would see the dress first."
"Yes, she had to attend to help our mother with some duties at the moment-" he turned and just as he did he froze at the sight of you. His mouth practically dropped, his eyes uncontrollably landing on your cleavage.
"My Lord?" You raised a brow until you noticed just where his eyes were before he quickly looked up. Your cheeks turning a light shade of red as he stepped closer looking into your eyes.
"Is this the dress you will be wearing for the ball this evening?" He spoke softly as if he was still trying to process what was before his eyes.
"I-um yes, why is-" losing track of what you were saying you noticed his eyes once again falling to your cleavage, your waist, it was as if he lost complete control. Never had you seen him look at you this way. Noticing his breathing grow heavy, his eyes filled with lust, that's when you noticed the bulge growing in his pants.
"My Lord," you gasped in a whisper calling his attention to what you noticed making him quickly turn away.
"Leave, now!" He practically yelled as you turned and ran out of the room. Hunched over leaning on the table before him, he caught his breath. Never was he suppose to show you what you did to him, he felt like a fool. It took everything in him to ask you to leave knowing exactly what he wanted to do to you in that moment. Slamming his hand on the table he cursed at himself for losing control in front of you. What would you think of him now?
Running to your room you closed the door out of breath. No one around noticed a thing thankfully. Yet, you were still in shock with what you had just seen. Having enough girl friends, you knew exactly what you were looking at. The sight of you made Anthony Bridgerton aroused. Standing in shock, you did not know exactly how to react. All you knew was that later that evening you would be seeing him at the ball with that very same dress, how were you suppose to act after this? What would he say or do the next time he saw you?
[Sorry for the short chapter, wanted to see how this would play out! Hope you all enjoy it!]

But I knew you Playing hide-and-seek and Giving me your weekends, I I knew you
(Warnings: cheating, folklore by taylor swift… angst), unedited
Kate was your dear friend but it was Anthony Bridgerton who had your heart. It wasn’t something that you meant…Anthony was just always there. He understood you in ways no one ever has. Maybe it was because of the friendship that you both fostered long ago. Two kids in his mother’s garden, playing hide and seek with his siblings. Your friendship was rooted on solid ground and nothing could have ever ruined it.
When Edmund Bridgerton died, it was you who helped Anthony through it all. He said it himself one afternoon while you walked through the lush green grasses of the park. You smiled and brushed it aside. He was your friend, it was the least you could do. Anthony was grateful for you. Grateful that you stayed in his life despite his shortcomings and his mistakes. You’ve always been there for him and he couldn’t just let you go so easily. It hurt him when you left. It broke him when you told him that you’d never want to receive another letter from him…he didn’t follow.
But everything hurt.
It started one night. You were in a secluded area in someone’s estate, attending the party under the guise of looking for marriage.
“My mother has been pestering me to find a wife,” he chuckled. “I don’t think I could marry yet. There’s so much to do…so much to achieve and I…” words fell from his lips as he watched you tilt your head sideways.
“What is it?”
I wanted it to be you. I want you. I want everything but I’m tied down to my responsibilities and I can’t just want you so wantonly without thinking about anything else.
“I am to attend a picnic with the Sharmas,” he sighed. “The younger sister…Edwina. What do you think of her?”
“Why does it matter? She’s smart, capable, and beautiful,” you replied monotonously. Edwina was all of these things but Anthony wanted something else.
“I think it is Kate who has my heart,” you heard him mutter. You looked up at him, hopelessness stirring in your heart. “But I’m not sure yet,”
“Shouldn’t love be as simple as knowing?”
Kate Sharma was the perfect match for Anthony and you couldn’t even deny it. It was there. They were written in the stars; foretold by the cosmos. You simply had no space in his heart. The shape of Anthony that you so carefully took care of would forever be his but you would never be. It was the same thing when he fell in love with the opera singer. He longed for her whilst he occupied your mind.
“But I want you…”
“Anthony?”
“I want you,” he said. “But if it is one of the sisters who I shall marry for the preservation of the honor of my family, then, I shall,”
Words died down in your throat. Were you not honorable enough for him? You shook your head as he neared.
“I’ve been wanting to kiss you since the day I realized that I want you,” he whispered. “Will you allow me?”
One kiss turned into more kisses. Fleeting touches that occurred sometimes. He’d look at you sometimes while you laughed at someone else’s jokes. You’d look away when he’d dance with Kate. Soon, you were travelling the roads less travelled by; wearing Anthony’s garments as to not arouse suspicion. Soon, you were meeting an inconspicuous alleyway that led to a hidden cottage just outside of the city. Only the two of you before he marries Kate tomorrow.
“You’re getting married tomorrow,” you told him.
“But it is you who I want,”
“How many more proposals must I reject for you, Anthony?” you asked but he’d kiss you so you’d never have to think of it ever again.
Tomorrow, when you help Kate prepare for the wedding, you'll have a lump in your throat that you’ll try to swallow. When he puts the ring on her finger, you’d tear up because of how happy you were for the two of them. They’d never know the cross you’d carry in your heart; how terrible you’d feel because Anthony would never be with you. You’d never be his wife. He’d never wake up beside you ever again. You knew that he loved her and you only warmed his bed to keep him from the cold. He’d never know the guilt you’d carry for loving him while he loved someone else. He’d never know anything because at the end of the day, it was Kate whom he loves.
It’s been three days since he married Kate.
He seeked you out in all of those days. He’d come up with a smooth lie about his estate but he’d ultimately end up with you somewhere. He’d hike your skirt an inch higher than what was appropriate and when the sun sets, he’d walk away and let you go. Not today, though. You were set on telling him something important.
“A duke proposed to me,” you muttered while he fixed his belt. He looks at you.
“And what did you say?”
“That I’ll think about it,”
“Say no,” he says, sitting down on the bed, helping you with your corset. “Say no,”
“Why?” you asked. “I’m not getting any younger, Anthony,” you sighed. “My mother wants me to accept his proposal. It’s not everyday I get proposed to by a duke,”
“A viscount isn’t enough for you?” he asks, nibbling softly on your ear.
“No, it’s not like that. You know it isn’t,” you scolded, inching away from him but he holds you closer. “It’s just that…my prospects aren’t as great. Every year, my value dwindles down. This man…he’s kind and considerate. He’s not half as bad and respects me.” Every word seemed to stab Anthony’s heart, twisting it further and further until he was bleeding. “Besides, if I don’t marry, where else will I go?”
“You’ll have me,” he says. “You don’t need a duke to take care of you. I will,”
“And what of my family? What about Kate?” you asked. “Anthony, you’re only mine when we’re together. These clandestine meetings ought to stop soon,”
“Will you make him wait a little bit more? Until I sort things out,” he asks and you nod, your voice betraying you once more. You knew that you had to give an answer soon…but for now, you’ll allow yourself to take Anthony’s word for it. “I promise you’ll never have to look for somebody else to take care of you,”
Between the two of you, you both knew that things would be changing. Anthony has never faced a proposal from a duke before when it came to you. You were right. How many proposals do you have to reject just so you could wait around for him? He knew it was unfair for you but Anthony was a selfish man. He couldn’t imagine himself sharing you with somebody else. He couldn’t imagine losing you and if it took the heavens to come crashing down to do so, he would be more than happy to comply.
He watched as your carriage took you back home. For all everyone knew, you met up with Anthony by the park for an afternoon stroll. It was a daily occurence that shocked no one. Still, when he married Kate, the Ton wondered if these meetings would stop. The town moved on from one gossip to another but one thing was sure…they’d never get over how a married Viscount and a spinster from a respectable family met up every afternoon without lapse.
You sat in the drawing room of your house. You heard the whispers on the street. How shameless! You knew what they said about you but still, there was something inside your heart that bloomed whenever you saw Anthony. You’d never admit it to him and it seems that he’d never say it too but without the verbiage of confessions, you just both knew.
You hated how he made you feel sometimes. It hurt to know that no matter what you did, you’d never take things back. It hurt to know that you were hurting Kate too. She’d never hurt you the way you hurt her. Multiple times…over and over again. Anthony would never know the guilt that consumed you whenever you laid with him…the torment of knowing what’s right but doing what’s wrong because for him, what he was doing was right. He was a selfish man.
The next time you met Anthony with even more confusing feelings was a dinner hosted by your family. He was with Kate, happiness painting his face so effortlessly. Kate made him happy while you looked like you were dying multiple times. You flashed a smile when Kate found you. It was so natural, nobody would ever suspect a thing.
“Kate, you look so beautiful,” you told her. “Marriage life suits you,”
“Anthony treats me well,” Kate laughs. “I heard a duke has proposed to you…?”
“Yes,” you nodded. “I…said yes,”
“What? That’s amazing!” Kate exclaims but you shush her.
“It’s still something that we decided to keep between us,” you confessed. “A moment of peace before the Ton realizes,” You couldn’t look at Anthony who appeared beside Kate.
“Anthony, you can’t tell anyone but our dear friend is spoken for,” Kate whispers and Anthony could feel his world crumble. He showed it with a fake smile and a clench of his jaw.
“What?” he asked, incredulously. “You’re engaged?”
“Yes,” you whispered, looking everywhere but him. “I am,”
“Excuse me for a moment,” Kate says, sensing the tension between the two of you. She knew that you were the closest among the Ton and you were the one to thank for how Anthony turned out. He only ever listened to you and she often wondered if his heart belonged to someone else. Maybe you…but you were engaged now. Surely, she’d never have to worry about that. About you.
“Let’s go,” Anthony says, taking your arm and then dragging you to your room. How scandalous. It hurt to think that for him, he could drag you everywhere else without so much as a word from you. He locks the door behind him and looks at you like you’ve murdered him.
“Is it true?” he demands. “That you’re spoken for?”
“Anthony—“
“Please…just tell me,” he begs. “Is it true?”
“It is,” you nod and he inhales a breath. “I was planning to tell you tonight. He’s kind, Anthony. You’d never have to worry about how he treats me,”
“Break it off,” he says.
“Excuse me?”
“Break off your engagement. It’s my job to take care of you. While it’s early,”
You felt anger bubbling inside you. How could he ask that of you when he could never do the same?
“We can’t keep on seeing each other like this, Anthony,” you tell him calmly. “Kate loves you and I…”
“What about you? Do you love him?”
“I’m engaged to him,”
“Do you love him?”
“I’ll learn to!” you cried. “He’s a great man, Anthony and after we wed in England, he’ll take me away from here and bring me to Scotland,”
“What?” he asked. “He’ll take you away from me? What about me? What about us? You’ll forget about us that easily? Like we were nothing? You know that I need you here. Why are you leaving me? Do you not love me?”
“You can’t do that to me, Anthony,” you tell him. “I could have stayed with you for a lifetime if you weren’t married…but this—everything—doesn’t feel right anymore. I’m hurting Kate. We’re hurting her without her knowing and you’re hurting me.” you cried. “This is all too confusing for me and I’m afraid we have to let it end here,”
“We can’t. We’ve known each other in all of our years. You just can’t leave me here alone.”
“But you are married to Kate! It doesn’t feel right. Do you know what the Ton thinks? I used to think that we could just both run away,” you told him. “I thought about it but it couldn’t happen. You have your responsibilities and I have mine…”
“I need you here,” he begged, sitting down on your bed as you walked towards him. “Just stay here with me. You can marry him…just stay here with me, please,”
“Anthony…”
“Please,” he begs, wrapping his arms around your waist and laying his head on your chest. “You can’t leave me. You’re the only person in this whole world that gets me. You know me more than anyone else. You’re my person,”
“But I don’t know you anymore, Anthony. Ever since you married Kate, everything between us became purely physical. You don’t talk to me anymore. You don’t kiss me the same way you used to. You stopped letting me in,” you said, stroking his hair softly.
“Please. I’ll be better. Kate may be who I am married to on paper but it has always been you,”
“So, why didn’t you choose me?”
Anthony stilled. You’d never know how much he wanted you. You’d never know how much he yearned for you. You’d never know how he had to stop himself from loving you completely because he believes that he’d never deserve your love. He didn’t want to marry in love and you wanted it more than anything. He was tied down to produce an heir. He never wanted to love but you took it from him. He’ll always be the first born. His responsibilities must come first before his whims.
“And then what? We’ll hurt two people?” you asked, hands on his shoulders to push him away. “Anthony, I’m so tired of hurting the people that I love,”
“Am I not who you love the most?” he asks in a small whisper. “You’re who I love the most,”
“So why did you marry Kate?” you asked, breaking away from him. “You’re telling me you love me now when you’re married to someone else. When I’m about to marry somebody else,” you cried, tears flowing from both your eyes. “I’ve done nothing but love you in all our years. I was so, so, so convinced that you were going to marry me. I rejected proposals and prospects because I was holding onto that thread so badly but you never once asked me for a dance,”
“I’m sorry,” he whispers. “I’m so, so, sorry,”
“If I asked you to run away with me now…would you?”
“Kate is pregnant,”
You could only chuckle as you moved from him.
“Kate is pregnant,” you nodded. “Kate is pregnant and yet, here you are begging for me to stay. You’re about to have a family, Anthony. Why can’t you see that we’re hurting the one we love?”
“Because I love you the most,”
“Kate is pregnant,” you reminded him. “Anthony, we should stop all the emotions that linger. I’m leaving England and you have to leave me too. We’d never be the same. We could never have our nights again. I am thankful for them, trust me…but this—this needs to stop.” you shook your head in disbelief and excused yourself.
Anthony watched as you left your bedchamber. He’d have to save face and attend your wedding soon but for now, he’ll allow himself to nurse his broken heart in the place where you broke it into a million pieces.
Marked me like a bloodstain, I I knew you Tried to change the ending Peter losing Wendy, I I knew you Leavin' like a father Running like water, I And when you are young, they assume you know nothing

The Pall Mall Incident (Anthony Bridgerton x Reader)
Masterlist
Tumblr media
(Y/N) had become a Bridgerton only a few months before the seaon had started, it was an unusual time to get married but when Daphne had introduced Anthony to (Y/N) they were instantly in love. They'd obtained a special license and married within three months of knowing eachother, but anyone who spent time with the Viscount and the Viscountess Bridgerton could instantly tell they were deeply in love.
This meant though that (Y/N) was yet to join the family in an infamous game of Pall Mall. She knew how competive the Bridgerton siblings where, having already played many games with them before. Many of which had resulted in her Husband and his siblings throwing things at each other before their mother stepped in. So far every game had been highly amusing, but when Pall Mall was brought up it was mad incredibly clear this was a serious subjects for the Bridgerton siblings.
"I think I understand the rules, shall we play before Anthony works a hole into the ground?" (Y/N) chuckled at her husbands behaviour, Daphne nodded allowing her new sister in law to choose the first mallet.
For a while the game was going well, no one had yet been accused of cheating and suprisingly Eloise was in the lead much to the frustration of her older brothers. (Y/N) was in second palce, to the annoyance and proudness of Anthony, all in all it was going well. That was until Benedict his Anthony's ball out of the way.
This restulted in a serious of actions;
1. Eloise snorted out her leomande of Daphne's new dress.
2. Colin tripped over his own feet laughing at Benedict's victory dance.
3. Anthony, in frustration swung his mallet back to throw it.
This third action had the most drastic consequences, before he could let go of the Mallet Anthony felt it hit someone. A gasp of horror fell from Daphne's lips as a thud sounded behind him. Lying on the floor was (Y/N). Panic struck him so quickly that he was frozen, he'd hit is beloved wife with a mallet.
Quickly he swept (Y/N) into this arms and up into Aubrey Hall, calling for someone to get a doctor. Laying her, still unconcious in their bed, Anthony was shaking with fear. What if she didn't wake up. The doctor came quickly and said he could see not massive damage, but they should keep an eye on the Viscountess.
An hour later Anthony was beside himself, convinced he'd killed his own wife. Not knowing what to do or say, no one knew what to do. A groan from the plush bed made him stop and turn to (Y/N). She was slowly sitting up holding her head and blinking rapidly at everyone.
"What happened?" she asked taking the glass of water offered to her by Benedict.
"Your husband hit you with a mallet." Colin said glaring at Anthony, who had yet to approach his wife.
"Anthony are you ok?" (Y/N) asked her husband, it took a second but he was suddenly beside her holding her tightly, "I am so sorry my love, my beautiful love. I didn't mean to..." he began to ramble.
"I think this means I win." (Y/N) responded kissing her husband and giggiling, "And as recompense that you Viscount will have to wait on me hand an foot" she added still giggling a little.
"Anything for you"

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS THINK!!!
Slowly pulling the hairpin out of your hair, you felt your long tresses flow down your back.
The door behind you, opened slowly. Hearing the heavy footsteps behind you, and a soft hand caressing your back
“Hello Viscountess” Anthony hummed into your ear, pulling your back flush with his chest.
A blush spread quickly across your features as your husband held you close.
“My Lord” you murmured softly, a smile gracing your features spinning in his grip

Here is my Kate/Anthony fantasy AU preview. I'm curious to hear people's feedback because I haven't done any creative writing in years and I'd want to know if it's any good and if people would be keen to read more (this is only part of what would be chapter 1). Not betad. (This is more like 'nature magic' than 'wand magic' type of witchcraft)
Plot (a bit of it so you know what's going on in the preview): Kate practices witchcraft in order to protect her family. Witchcraft has been outlawed for centuries and capture would mean death.
Rating (so far): PG? Teen? There are some cursewords, and mentions of violence
-----
Kate had a motto that had served her well over the years: second guessing was the luxury of fools.
She had to make choices, protect her family, and in order to do that, she needed to make difficult choices. She had to sacrifice for her family and she would do it again - gladly. Protecting her family meant that she was willing to do just about anything. It was for this reason she had chosen years ago, against what might be classified as common wisdom, to learn witchcraft. It was also the reason why she found herself here, under the ghostly glean of the full moon in the middle of a thick forest, letting drops of her blood fall into a bowl over a small silver pendant.
A chill crept over her spine and Kate wasn’t sure if this was a sign that the spell was working or if it was old familiar fear. Regardless, she pushed past her initial instinct to stop. The protection charm needed to be recharged. Its protective properties had been waning of late and Kate had worried that its abilities would have run out before she had a chance to fix it. Thankfully, the moon was on her side and she had been able to conjure a decent enough excuse to slip away from her family. They thought she was meeting the local botanist to restock their herb supply. Thankfully, they had not asked why this meeting could not have waited until daylight, affording Kate a very crucial window of opportunity.
Despite knowing the forest well, it did not mean that she was safe. Far away in the distance, she could hear faint dog barks and the clashes of hooves. Someone was approaching and they were coming ever closer. Trying to suppress the faint terror that was pushing itself up from the pit of her stomach, Kate watched the last few drops needed for the amulet as if pleading with it to hurry. She tried to ignore the images of her being carried away to her execution, her being burned alive in the town square, and - most terrifying of all - the heartbroken face of her sister and mother as they were left alone, watching her death with naked sorrow etched across their faces. Images that served as a reminder of her future, if she was caught.
She needed go. Now.
The second the last drop needed to complete the ritual touched the pendant, Kate grabbed it in one swift motion. She was running out of time. She could now hear the rustling of leaves and the dog was in danger of picking up her scent. For a fraction of a second, Kate paused, contemplating whether to grab the bowl. It would slow her down in the moment but it could pose an even greater threat to her if it was found. Even a vague concern that witchcraft was being practiced in the village would mean heightened security. Questions and patrols. No, she had to risk it. She threw the pendant in her cloak pocket and grabbed the bowl, trying to avoid what twigs she could spot in the thick forest, thankful for whatever moonlight crept through the trees, helping her escape.
But she wasn’t quiet enough. As she ran, she could hear twigs crackle and leaves rustle and sure enough, soon the dog began to bark louder and the quickening of hooves told her she would be discovered any moment. A voice of a man boomed through the quiet landscape: ”Who’s there?”
Trying to not give into the temptation that this was the beginning of her worst nightmare come to life, Kate thought about Edwina, thought about Mary, and forced whatever dormant strength she had left to propel her forward. She needed to escape. Hide.
As she began to pick up her pace, she did not hear the dog any longer. There was an abandoned shed close to the village that hadn’t been used for years that could be an ideal hiding spot if she could just get there. After passing a thick collection of trees, hoping that this had impeded the horsed man’s chase, Kate afforded herself a quick glance behind her. There was nothing. Maybe she was safe, at least for the time being, but there was no time to stop. She continued her run when all of the sudden a dark horse appeared out of nowhere. The cool moon light made it appear black and Kate felt a sharp pang of horror clutch her heart.
Fuck.
She needed to find another route. For a horrid moment, she caught a glimpse of its rider. He was a man about her own age, younger than she had assumed, and he wore clothing that was not indicative of a villager. This was bad. This was really really bad.
Noblemen did not just randomly scour forests at night and they had entourages, people that would be asking questions, particularly if their lord spotted women running in the forests at night. Noblemen were in frequent contact with the authorities, they controlled sheriffs and if she did not shake this man, he would be asking questions. She could tell that he had brown hair and a lighter complexion than herself. The nighttime made him look like a ghost but he was very real and he was deadly.
But it soon became apparent that the glimpse was much more dangerous than that. She had not just caught a glimpse of her pursuer - in actual fact, their eyes had connected and the way that his face froze made Kate realize that he had seen her face. For a brief moment, the wave of her terror was so intense that her body froze.
”Miss! Miss, are you alright?”
The tone of concern jolted Kate alive once more. He had misunderstood her fear. He thought she was afraid of the woods.
”Was there are a bear, or some animal chasing you?” He looked behind himself as if expecting a beast to at her heels. His dog, a large thin dog with a shaggy coat, came to pause by his mater’s horse, as if the conditioning of some invisible command. It looked at Kate with curiosity but did not bark again.
As much as he was startled to see her, his concern only increased as there were no visible signs of ease. But Kate was struggling to compose herself. Logically, she knew that if she played this situation correctly, she could fool this man into believing that she had just caught a wrong turn and accidentally ended up in the woods at night. She could be safe. But she couldn’t quite get her heartbeat to slow or her throat to utter any words of reassurance. She needed to play the grateful damsel and not behave like caught prey, even though that was what she was. He just did not know it.
"Miss, it’s all right,” his eyes were on her again and now they seemed kind, softer, as they sought connection again with hers, ”You are safe.”
Kate opened her mouth to speak but felt the words lodged in her throat. She forced herself to clear it before finally managing: "Thank you.” Good. That is what someone who had been running from a bear would say.
The stranger seemed relieved. "Are you hurt?”
As she was still trying to grapple with the situation and attempt to find the best way to get out of the situation, Kate could not speak and merely shook her head. She couldn’t immediately run again, that would be suspicious. She needed to get away from this man and soon, but how to do this was not immediately apparent, so playing on his assumptions seemed like the best course of action until she could figure out a better plan.
The nobleman suddenly dropped from his horse, holding its reigns in his hand. His eyes did not waver from hers and the attention was unsettling. What were men doing riding around at night anyway, staring at strange women? He shouldn’t be looking at her this intensely and the way his eyes seemed to flicker over her face, as if trying to memorize it, was dangerous. She needed to be anonymous. She was thankful that most of her face was shielded by the cloak, but she was not silly enough to imagine that granted her any kind of anonymity.
”I’m not going to hurt you,” the man continued as he cautiously approached her and Kate just wanted to yell at him to go away, ”I’m… I’m Anthony.” He touched his collarbone with his full hand as if that would conveyed sincerity and trust. In a normal situation it may have worked but every step he was now taking towards her, Kate’s fear increased.
Witchcraft was illegal and if he somehow found the amulet or the bowl she was hiding behind her back underneath her cloak, it would be the end of her. She would be burned at the stake and her family would be all alone.
”I- I need to go,” was all that she could say. Kate did not know what excuse to give, what story to concoct. She just needed to get away from this man and his unnerving gaze immediately.
The man looked surprised that she had finally said anything, as if he had began to wonder whether she was mute. He blinked for a moment and then pointed to his horse. ”Let me escort you, the woods at this time of night is no place for a lady.”
If Kate hadn’t been in such abject terror, she might have snorted. Lady. She was the furthest away from a lady and the fact that this nobleman could not spot her shoddy dress and cheap cloak clearly made him a fool. She relaxed somewhat and the man - Anthony - seemed pleased at this, even if it was not for the reasons that he was thinking. If he was a fool and thought she was a lady, Kate might be able to get out of this after all.
”I couldn’t possibly trouble you, sir,” Kate said finally, opting for the most generic title possible, although the hint of a smile that crept over his features suggested to her that apparently the title may have been wrong, ”I’m perfectly safe. I am going to the village there. My carriage broke down far away from here and I’ve been walking all night. I just need some shelter. I’m sure they have an inn.”
”Then let me help you,” Anthony supplied, seemingly up for the task of helping this mysterious miss and his eagerness to help was something that Kate found profoundly irritating.
Why can’t he just leave me alone?
”No please, I insist, I’m perfectly all right,” Kate struggled to maintain the required tone of politeness.
Whatever vexation she felt was now, for some reason beginning to appear on the man’s face. His brow furrowed as if he couldn’t understand why this woman just wouldn’t accept his help.
What an entitled prick.
”It is no trouble at all,” Anthony was still trying to reassure her but she could hear the tones of annoyance seeping through, revealing what his face was already telling her. ”I was headed in that direction anyway.”
”No, I couldn’t-”
Before she could refuse his attempt at chivalry once more, the stranger had clearly had enough.
”I couldn’t in good conscience as a gentleman let a lady alone in the forest at night, when she has clearly been through such an ordeal already.” His voice was clipped and the tenor of his voice conveyed that he simply would not be refused and this conversation was already over. The last drop of politeness vanished from his face and he seemed to be utterly annoyed at her.
That was the last straw. This man was something else. He was so obstinate and irritating and considering that he believed her nonsense about her broken carriage was acting in a most ungentlemanlike manner by thrusting his unwanted chivalry on a woman for all that he knew was clearly in significant distress.
”Fine.”
She stopped pretending her own politeness and given leave by his own lack of decorum made no attempt to hide her own frustration with this man. Her eyes narrowed at him.
Anthony pressed out a frustrated ’great’ and Kate made sure to not turn her back to the man in order to keep his eyes away from her hidden bowl. When it was clear he intended to walk with her with his horse and dog towards the village, Kate purposefully chose to walk on the other side of his horse. The fact that she had not chosen to walk beside him seemed to cause Anthony even greater agitation and Kate decided that this was clearly a man who expected to have a parade thrown in his honour for the simplest deeds.
They walked like this, in silence, as Kate kept herself shielded from that annoying gaze of his by walking by his horse in such a way that he could see as little of her as possible. She couldn’t walk by the horse’s head as that might reveal the bowl that she was hiding in her cloak so she opted to stay by the horse’s shoulders. This unfortunately meant that she could occasionally feel his eyes on her head, as if he was attempting to study her, despite the fact that the cloak was concealing the majority of her face. His dog remained by his master’s side and the trio quietly braved the remaining path of what the man did not know was Kate’s village.
She did not like this Anthony. She had a good mind to tell him keep his eyes to himself. But Kate said nothing, hoping maybe if she stayed silent, he would give up this attempt at chivalry and return from whatever annoying hole he crawled out of. He clearly thrived on praise so withholding it might make him go away. He was annoyed that she had not thrown herself at him in gratitude for accosting her in the forest.
The silence soon grew awkward and heavy the longer it passed. The situation Kate now found herself in gained a bizarre quality to it and the silence, despite being what she wished for, became uncomfortable. Regardless, Kate refused to break it. Silence was what would drive this man away. She could feel that he wanted to speak - or, rather, more likely yell at her - but he reluctantly refrained. The village drew closer and closer and Kate allowed herself to glance at Anthony, in the hope that he would now understand that she wanted nothing more than for him to leave her alone.
Immediately her eyes found his and Anthony seemed surprised that she acknowledged his presence.
He cleared his throat. ”Well, we should attempt to find an inn for you, Miss…?”
Kate avoided his lazy attempt to learn her name, and instead beckoned him to walk ahead of her. Her best option was to get him to walk up ahead of her and at the first opportune moment, she would duck between some houses and disappeared before he turned around. If she hadn’t opted to take the bowl, she could have just offered to explore while he tied up his horse and used that as her moment to escape, but such as it was, she instead had to wait while Anthony tied his horse and hope he would soon be sufficiently distracted searching for the inn that Kate knew did not exist.
If it was not for the hour of the night, she might have worried that people might be awake in the village and she would be spotted by a local and her identity would be revealed. Instead, it seemed like their chance encounter in the woods had taken enough time so that the entire village was asleep. Even the chickens and dogs were quietly resting their nooks as they walked through the small paths that connected the homes of her childhood village.
It was odd, during the day everything was so bustling and alive that it felt as though she and Anthony were trespassing on some ghost town, some secret time which was not meant for them but for the nature around them to rest and recharge, so that the trees and grass could fade away into the background once morning came. For a moment, it felt as though they were alone in the world.
At this thought, something stirred in Kate. It was not a great feeling, but a rumbling within that unsettled her. She did not know what it was. She knew that she was in mortal danger by this man, the evident signs of his rank could mean nothing good to her. If he found out why she had truly been in the forest that night, it would mean that her darkest nightmares would come alive. He would hand her in to the sheriff at a moment’s notice. The kindness he had shown her would mean nothing. For all that she knew he would be the one to throw the torch to her pyre.
Despite knowing this, Kate could not explain it, but some small part of her felt safe with him. Maybe some small part of her subconscious had forced herself to believe the lie that she was just a lady with a broken carriage in order to muster the conviction necessary to sell the charade. That was the only reason she could fathom as to why her heartbeat had steadied and, when Anthony finally broke their silence, she indulged in a small bit of conversation.
”If they have an inn,” Anthony surveyed his surroundings, seeming a bit hesitant, ”It ought to be near the town square.”
Kate nodded. ”That seems likely.” He was clearly able of some logical thinking, at least.
Kate glanced around briefly. She knew that if they were heading in the direction of the town square, they would pass the modiste, and while the village in general did not have too many houses, there were still a group of them there which would allow ample cover for an escape. She would hide behind the grocer’s house until Anthony gave up looking for her. Then he would leave and she could return home to Edwina to return her amulet. The most important thing now, she surmised, was patience. The last thing she needed was to act too quickly and accidentally lead this man to her home. It would only invite speculations that she could not answer.
They began walking and without Anthony’s trusted steed between them, Kate noted that they were of similar height and that while he could still not see her very well, she could clearly see that they were around the same age. Anthony looked down momentarily at his feet, kicking a pebble and Kate had so distracted she realized that she had missed his question entirely.
”Pardon?”
”I asked, where are you from?” Anthony whispered softly.
Right. The carriage. Where would be a plausible destination? The risk would be that if it was too local, Anthony might know that society enough to call her out on her lies. Finally, she decided that it was better to go big with her lie than risk somewhere where the man might be too familiar. ”India,” she decided. It was, after all, not a lie, but she knew that was not what he was asking.
”India?” Anthony repeated the word in disbelief.
Kate refrained from saying something evidently silly and merely said ”It’s been a long journey.” If she said this as if it was an explanation rather than an invitation for more questions, it might be all right.
”And you made this journey alone?” Anthony was clearly getting increasingly confused, which signalled danger to Kate.
”I did not travel all the way from India tonight,” Kate added, ”I have been in England for quite some time. My party went to find help when our carriage broke down, but as they did not return and the sun was going down, I decided the most dangerous thing was for me to stay put.”
”Perhaps you will find them here?” Anthony offered and Kate marvelled that he seemed so willing to believe this preposterous lie.
He was now near enough that surely he could see that her cloak was old and torn and not ornate enough to belong to any woman of consequence. Any moment now, he would surely realize, and Kate struggled between the risk of letting him see her face or letting him have further opportunity to realize the most material evidence of her deception. Deciding on what might be the least worst option available to her in the moment, and hoping that everyone in her village was truly asleep at this hour, Kate removed her hood from her face.
As she turned to Anthony to reply, he seemed momentarily frozen, his eyes staring at her in the most confusing way. If she had not been absolutely certain that this man was a stranger and that they had never met before, she would have thought he had seen a ghost. Again, this man was frustrating in his rude uncomfortable stare. His eyes seemed to take in everything from the the shape of her eyes and the length of her nose to the state of her braid, which must make her look truly wild from having been hidden by her cloak for so long.
”I.. ehm…” Anthony began to say, but he maintained that same stunned expression that the speech almost seemed to be despite himself, rather than a premeditated plan. Whatever he was thinking died on his lips and Kate was too confused to know what to say. Now that they were standing close to one another, she noted that he was actually quite handsome.
Even if he was evidently very foolish.
But even that, felt sort of endearing? Started by her own thought, Kate pushed whatever unwelcome idea that was as far down as she could. She was clearly becoming delusional and needed to get away this instant.
Tearing herself out of the weird reprieve of their moment, Kate nodded towards the direction of the modiste. ”How about we go look over there?”
Anthony nodded, blinking as if pulled from a trance and, to Kate’s great relief, refocused his attention to their designated destination and began walking in that direction. He did not, however, reply.

TBC? Please leave feedback if you want to. As I mentioned, I haven't written anything in years and I'm worried it's bad. I have an idea where I want to go with it, so I might try to get an AO3 account or something to post it if people want to read more.

anthony bridgerton x reader
synopsis: after the ceremony, you realise that you won’t be as sad as you thought you would be with the bridgerton
He couldn’t believe that in a week he would be wed to a woman he had never met, in fact he believed that if it wasn’t for that foolish pact that her mother had with her silly little friend, he would have wed sometime in his thirties, not out of love of course, he would have simply chosen the diamond of the season and marry her, it wouldn’t have been that hard since he’s a viscount, but of course his mother wasn’t really fond of his future projects even if over the course of the years his mother actually regretted the decision of marrying him of , or at least that’s what she said; but that now didn’t matter because he was in the only place in which he felt comfortable in past few weeks before the marriage, in his favorites mistress arms, on her bed, after a long night full of desire and longing, but even that couldn’t stop he’s thought on the matter, since he found out about the agreement he’s been asking around about the girl he was going to marry, her mother didn’t knew much she just told him that she was a very beautiful girl and that she was very polite and studious, but that was all she knew, and asking other gentlemen’s led him to nothing, for all he knew she lived on the country side, kind of isolated and has never interacted much with the ton, she appeared for the first time in London during her first season, in wich she got courted from a couple of gentlemen that were quickly sent away, but that was everything he knew, it wasn’t nothing of course, but still, he was marring a complete stranger.
“Come on brother! The worst that could happen its her looking like an ogre!”
needles to say that after sais comment, Colin Bridgerton got rightfully hit in the head by a flying fan, lady Danbury looked at the boy and with an offended tone replayed “ I’ve meet lady Y/S/N personally, and let me tall you, she’s a fantastic woman, she will integrate well with the family!”. Obviously out of all the people that he asked to he didn’t ask lady Danbury, of course! As soon has he got the courage of asking lady Dembury more about you, the priest informed him that the ceremony was starting and not long after the doors of the church opened, The Woman was walking arm in arm with who he supposed was her father, he was an interesting man, not handsome but not ugly, he also managed to have a look at her mother and for her age she wasn’t that displeasing, in fact she looked quite younger than his mother, maybe she was, considering that he didn’t know much about his spouse’s family either, he could only guess. As soon as she reached the altar both her and her father bowed, and since he is a gentleman he did the same, the Woman then stepped up the steps of the rostrum and positioned herself before him; she still had her veil covering her face but he could kind of see her face; and then she took it of. Anthony was pleased of the fact that at least he didn’t have to procreate and look at a hideous face for the rest of his life, in fact she was kind of pleasing to the eye, maybe even beautiful.
After the end of the ceremony he didn’t speak a single word to her, did he think she was ugly? If that was the case then maybe she was more free than she thought, she wouldn’t have to go through the whole horrible experience of having to bed with the Viscount and maybe he would only speak to her when necessary, maybe it was a good thing, she was thinking to herself whilst her mother and Lady Violet Bridgerton were speaking to one another, but that didn’t last long before she was whisked away from a pair of strong arm, when she turned, she saw a girl, a couple of years younger tha her and she was wearing the Bridgerton signature color, light blue, and beside her another girl, much shorter and with a bright yellow dress, that was quite inadequate to the occasion, after a litte bit of explaining you found out about their names, the girl in blu was named Eloise, the one in yellow Penelope Fethetington; the three of you started talking, and for once during the whole day you felt that you were in the wright place with the wright people, “ and I love her ok, but just because she was the diamond last season, now people have high expectations on me and I don’t wanna let them down” Eloise as been talking about this for about an hour, and you felt bad for her, you haven’t known her for long but could already tell how much her family didn’t understand her, from their eyes she was just a troubled girl who was looking for attention, and it couldn’t have been farther from the truth, as both you and Penelope were trying to help her speak of her emotions ,someone , who you recognised as one of the Bridgerton brothers since he was standing with the Viscount at the altar, came in the room in wich you girls were hiding, “ what are you girls doing?” Said the Bridgerton, “ our new Viscountess has to have a ball with Anthony to open the dances” he said looking at you “Of course, my apologies” you said and after bowing, you got whisked by said brother to dance in the arms of your husband.
(another) author note: Hi! I hope you are enjoying my story<3 I don’t know when I’m going to post the continue of this story, but as soon as I can i’ll start writhing again! also I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a mike schimit x reader fan fiction, maybe a one shot, let me know in the comments!

This morning, you had been presented to the Queen as a candidate for the Diamond of the Season. This would make you more appealing to the eyes of the men of the ton. Marriage proposals would be thrown at your feet, and they would stop at nothing to take your hand and make you theirs.
Marriage didn’t interest you much like it did the other Ladies, like it once did your sister Daphne.
But when the Queen said those exact words she said to Daphne a season ago, you knew that now you had to at least acknowledge the mere act.
“Flawless, my dear.”
Tumblr media
The ladies and their mamas eagerly waited for the Queen to announce who would be her diamond of the season. They chatted about what they would do if they had been chosen, and their mothers were eyeing each other with wicked looks from across the ballroom.
The sound of trumpets interrupted everyone's conversations and the Queen started her speech.
“Your presence has been noted. And your Queen most appreciative.”
Violet Bridgerton stood anxiously with her daughter, the rest of her children scattered somewhere around the room.
“Allow it to now be my honour to present to you the seasons diamond.”
Violet wafted herself nervously with her fan.
Queen Charlotte looked around the room carefully, inspecting each of the debutantes, when her eyes fell on you.
You were guzzling down a glass of lemonade, not noticing the apprehensive silence.
“Miss Y/n Bridgerton.”
You lifted your head with question, who was calling your name?
It was when you noticed your mothers look, that everyone else was looking at you too.
“Is something wrong?” You silently asked your mother.
Brimsley came up to you, offering his arm. You had no choice but to take it, utterly confused.
Tumblr media
The whole room was silent as they waited for the name of the Queen’s diamond.
What was the point of a Diamond of the Season?
Morpheus hated this time of the year. It was the same every year. He would watch men gamble away all of their money and then pretend like they were interested in these filthy rich women, when all they cared about was those little golden coins that would fill their pockets and their banks.
He also hated this time of year because it was where eligible ladies of the ton would come asking for a proposal from him.
He wasn’t going to marry.
Ever.
He wouldn’t live life trapped, unhappy and committed to a piece of paper.
He wouldn’t enslave himself to unrequited love.
“No way.” His friend, Anthony Bridgerton, pulled him from his thoughts.
Morpheus looked towards the man that would always follow the Queen around. And on his arm was a woman he was sure he recognised from somewhere.
“Isn’t that your sister, Bridgerton?” Morpheus watched her move with hesitant steps.
It was clear that she wasn’t expecting to be the season’s diamond at all.
“Indeed it is Morpheus. Doesn’t she look beautiful?” Anthony wore a proud smile on his face as he watched you be presented to the Queen.
Morpheus envied Anthony’s relationship with his siblings. He wished he could be like that with his own.
“I suppose she is rather appealing.”
Tumblr media
You felt a pair of eyes on you as you walked up to the Queen.
Well, everyone’s eyes were on you, they either held envy or resentment.
But this felt different.
It was burning holes into your skull. And it had a hint of curiosity.
You shifted your gaze from the Queen’s eyes to the ones you felt on the left to you.
Your eyes met with striking blue rings, nothing like a blue you’d ever seen before. They made your heart skip a beat.
Both of your eyes slightly widened at the contact, but you had to unfortunately cut it short when your hand was given to the Queens.
The both of you left the ball that night with an electricity zapping at your hearts. All it took was that first glance to know you were intrigued.

[SUMMARY: Anthony Bridgerton can’t help his attraction to Daphnes bestfriend, Julianne Robinson. Fighting the temptation to seduce her he gives in to his weakness and takes her virginity in a carriage.]
Smut
“What would you know about the urges of a man and how tempting you were to him?”
It was always a treat visiting your bestfriend Daphne. Always welcomed with love, you enjoyed time in their home with her lovely mother and treats. One of your favorite parts of your visit was seeing her oldest brother Anthony. No one knew but you had grown a crush on him as you grew older. Never had you spoken of it, but little did you know Anthony himself felt an attraction towards you. After Daphne married Simon you had not seen much of Anthony but tonight that would be different. Choosing to wear one of the nicest gowns you owned you smiled looking at yourself in the mirror. A soft pink with gold complimented your skin wonderfully.
“Oh Julianne, how lovely it is to finally see you.” Daphne greeted you with a smile with her husband beside her.
“Like wise, I have been looking forward to today for some time now.” You returned a smile as she walked with you into the parlor.
There were her siblings Benedict, Colin and Hyacinth.
“Where is Anthony?” Their mother Violet sighed right before he stepped into the room. Handsome as ever you did your best to hold back a smile.
“Right here, mother, someone has to get the paper work done-“ Anthony teased with a smile when his eyes unexpectedly landed on you. Anthonys world stopped in that very moment. It had been almost a year since he had seen you and you were just as beautiful as ever. You remembered how he used to always look at you but quickly look away when you would catch him. No one ever noticed the attraction the two of you tried to hide from each other.
“Julianne-“ the two of you always on a first name bases having been so close to his sister.
“How wonderful it is for you to grace us with your presence.”
“Indeed! I have many things I must speak to you of!” Daphne interjected before you could respond. Anthony smiled at you before Violet led you all into the dining room.
All of you sat down and enjoyed your meal speaking of different things. Daphne could not stop speaking of her son making you smile.
“He must bring you much excitement,” you looked at Anthony watching as he happily looked over his nephew.
“Always.” He turned to you and didn’t take his eyes off you as you went on to continue with Daphnes stories.
After much conversation, after the meal you decided to go out for some air in the garden. Usually Daphne would take this break with you but having her son and husband you excused yourself alone. Anthony watched as you walked to the door and let yourself out, Benedict noticing how distracted he was.
“Excuse me-“ Anthony quickly stood up and let himself out immediately spotting you stepping into the garden.
“Finding a way to leave?” Anthony’s voice made you turn in surprise as he appeared under a soft light in the dark garden.
“Anthony..” you whispered with a smile as he approached you. He was a tall man and practically towered over you by nearly a foot.
“Julianne..” he responded with a smile that made his dimple appear.
“You look…-“ his eyes happened to glance over the hint of cleavage you showed, your skin turning hot as you noticed.
“You look wonderful,”
“Thank you” he didn’t take his eyes off you as you looked up at him. Butterflies in your stomach you noticed him looking at your lips. He seemed distracted…and that he was. He wondered how soft your pink plump lips must’ve felt…how they would feel against his own lips.
“Anthony..?” He quickly looked up at you and cleared his throat.
“Forgive me…I-“
“It’s okay” you spoke softly with a voice that only seemed to captivate him more. You wondered what was on his mind, whatever it was…you couldn’t stop thinking how handsome he looked thinking of it. The two of you not realizing how distracted you were with the attraction you had for one another, you realized it was getting late.
“I should get going now”
“I’ll shall accompany you and make sure you arrive safely.”
“Oh there is no need, my chaperone-“
“Left.” He interrupted rather confidently. He himself being the one to tell the chaperone they could leave, as he would be responsible for your safe arrival.
“Left?”
“Yes, I’ll have a carriage ready in no time. You’ll be home before you know it.”
It was strange that your chaperone had left and not even say a word. After thanking Violet for the invitation tonight, you spoke with Daphne for some time before being led out to the carriage. Anthony took your hand and helped you get inside before he followed right behind you. Across from you, he sat in the carriage as you looked out into the night.
“My chaperone didn’t say anything to you?” You asked without looking back at him.
“I told her she could leave-“
“You were the one who told her to leave?” You turned to him a bit surprised.
“Don’t trust me to get you home safe now?” He spoke with a smirk as you rolled your eyes playfully and looked back out.
The carriage began to move as you sat back comfortably and took a deep breath before noticing Anthony was staring at you again. He could tell he caught you off guard as you nervously looked away.
“If I’m being honest..” Anthony began to speak breaking the silence for the ride
“I’m rather surprised you need a chaperone at all and don’t have a husband beside you.” His words practically made your eyes bulge out as you looked back at him.
“I beg your pardon-“
“Do not take offense, Julianne. I just don’t understand how a woman with your looks has yet to be courted.”
He was complimenting you.
“Oh..I-“
“You are beautiful Julianne Robinson.” Your heart skipped a beat, his words, his voice…the way he said your name. His eyes once again roaming down to your cleavage, he could tell he was making you nervous as he watched your chest rise with each breath.
“Anthony..” For so long he had felt this attraction towards you and he knew you felt it too.
“Anthony..”
“Do not say my name-“ he whispered. He couldn’t take the urge he felt whenever your voice uttered his name.
“Excuse me?” You asked confused as he pressed his lips together. He simply wanted to have more time with you, as he didn’t know when he would see you again. He had no idea this would only give him a fight.
“Anthony” you whispered once more.
“Sit next to me,” you spoke softly, your suggestion making him take a deep breath before he stood up and sat beside you. Looking over you could see his jaw clenching as he looked over to you.
“Perhaps I shouldn’t-“
“I want you to.”
Anthony chuckled in response raising his brows as he struggled to compose himself. The man felt he was ready to burst through his pants at any given moment. You had no idea what you were doing to him, and he didn’t expect you to. What would you know about the urges of a man and how tempting you were being to him? You were innocently looking up at him as you noticed him become more fidgety. How was he suppose to ignore this feeling?
“Julianne Robinson..” he rubbed his hand over his lips, clearly looking flustered.
“Anthony Bridgerton.” You responded confidently. He froze at the sound of your voice saying his full name, he looked down at you and that’s all it took.
Anthony lost control of himself.
Unexpectedly Anthony grabbed you making you squeal as he kissed you. You were in shock feeling his lips against yours, his tongue prying your lips apart.
Oh but you didn’t want him to stop.
Never before had you felt this way.
The feeling at the pit of your stomach, in between your legs. Being a virgin you did not have much knowledge of many things but at this moment you knew you wanted him. For so long you had wanted this man.
In that moment you didn’t care of anything else and neither did he. You lay back as he moved on top of you kissing you roughly yet passionately. Moaning against his lips you felt his hand move up beneath your dress, your heart racing like it never had before.
This wasn’t right and you knew it wasn’t, yet it felt too damn good for you to stop. He pulled off whatever you had beneath your dress, you could hear him unbuttoning his breeches. Shivering your dress higher revealing your thighs and stockings you blushed. He moved quickly, he was eager to feel you and that’s when he did. You gasped and froze at the sudden feel of him entering you. He didn’t move, it took everything in him to not move. His face dug into the crook of your neck, your lips against his ear, he could hear you breathing quickly. In shock with what you were feeling, in shock with what you both were doing, he thrusted again making you whimper. Squeezing his eyes shut he once again held himself still allowing you to adjust to his size. He could feel you becoming more aroused, he could feel you throbbing around him. Slowly lifting his head up, he looked down at you this time looking into your eyes he thrusted again. He could see the shock yet pleasure on your face, the innocence yet need for more.
He moved in a slow rhythm as the carriage moved. His lips finding yours again as soft moans escaped yours, pleasure slowly started to build. It felt right even though it was wrong, you loved being so intimately close to him. Grabbing onto his collar you light trembled beneath him. You couldn’t believe after all these years of shared glances, flirtatious looks and even words…this is what it came to.
Anthony Bridgerton took your virginity in a carriage ride home.
“Julianne-forgive me” he choked out when you noticed his jaw clench up tightly, he buried himself inside you and didn’t move as a hoarse groan escaped his lips.
“Oh-“ you gasped as you looked up at him, he almost looked as if he was in pain.
“Anthony?” You whispered but he couldn’t speak. He couldn’t say a word as you felt his body go limp on yours. Slowly he pushed himself up and sat back across from you as he adjusted his breeches breathlessly.
“Anthony…are you ok?” You asked as you pushed yourself up and fixed your dress.
Of course he wasn’t ok, the man had just exploded in you.
“You must forgive me” Anthony spoke hoarsely as he brushed his hair back. He couldn’t believe what he had just allowed himself to do.
Quietly you sat not sure of what to say when the carriage ride stopped. Without saying a word but clearly lost in his thoughts, Anthony helped you out of the carriage. Your chaperone waiting at the door, you thanked Anthony for getting you home and silently walked away.
Anthony sat in the carriage alone in silence, staring at the seat across from him thinking over what just happened. That’s when he spotted the small drop of blood seeped into the seat. Cursing at himself he looked away, you didn’t deserve this. How could he have allowed himself to have you this way.
Laying in bed that night you couldn’t stop thinking about how Anthony kissed you, how he touched you, how he felt. The look of guilt in his eyes as if he was angry at himself for giving into temptation…but the thing was, you didn’t mind it. The risk of being ruined for Anthony Bridgerton, oh it was so wrong but it felt so good.
A few days had now passed and you had not heard of Anthony. Truly you didn’t know what to expect after what happened but you hoped to hear from him.
Wandering through the town with your chaperone you entered a fabric shop to buy a new dress. Hearing giggling and snickering around the shop you continued to look at the fabrics when you turned to the back and were shocked to see Anthony Bridgerton.
There he was standing beside a woman which seemed too close for comfort.
Oh you should’ve known.
The woman beside him gasped and quickly separated herself from him as you stood still with your lips parted.
“Lady Robinson” the woman spoke politely as Anthony showed instant guilt on his face.
“I..I should go prep some fabric in the front.” The woman quickly walked past you as Anthony stood still with his hands behind his back.
“Julianne-“
“I must go” you hid the embarrassment with a smile quickly turning your face when you ran into Daphne.
“Oh! What are the odds?!” She smiled with glee while looking over to see Anthony behind you.
“Brother, I’ve been looking for you. Talking with the shop owner again I see-“
“I better get going, I’m in a hurry today. It was nice seeing you.” You interrupted her not wanting to hear anything more of what she was saying.
“You will be at the ball, won’t you?” She asked as you rushed off towards the door. Anthony waiting for your response looked your way, hoping you would say yes.
“Oh..yes”
“Perfect…I’ll see you then” Daphne smiled before turning back to the dresses as you left.
Anthony watched as you walked off without looking back. He couldn’t imagine what you thought of him, truth was, he couldn’t stop thinking of you more than ever.
But he was ashamed.
Anthony had been with many women but he knew you had never been with a man. He felt you deserved much more than to be seduced in a carriage late at night, you deserved more respect than that and truthfully he was angry at himself for it. Daphne would kill him if she knew what he had done, he was sure of it.
Yet, even through all the shame… Anthony wanted more.
Days later your chaperone had placed all your belongings together for the ball that night. Sitting in your chair as you brushed your hair you continued to think of Anthony. A part of you wanting to feel his touch and another part of you was….angry. How could you be a fool to think a rake would have treated you differently. Putting too much trust in the idea that this was your best friends brother. Closing your eyes you took a deep breath trying to shake off the thoughts when you suddenly froze. Your eyes bulging open you realized you had missed your cycle…
Any ideas for a part 2?

HC for all the Bridgerton Bros, after the scene where El asks how women get pregnant you are like a friend of Daphnes and you ask them (the bros individually) and I just wonder how they would react/explain that?

Have You Ever Been to a Farm? (ABC Brothers)
Second entry for my Bridgerton Ball helpful links: navigation | master lists | rules and guidelines | tag list | fic recs CONTEXT: You were spending the afternoon with all the Bridgertons when Eloise barged in from spending an afternoon with Penelope with the question, "How does a lady come to be with child?"
Daphne stopped playing the pianoforte and you looked up from the book that you were reading. Being acquainted with Daphne for the social season and because your mother was a close friend of the Bridgerton matriarch, you grew to be comfortable in their household. Violet was startled at the question while Anthony, Benedict, and Colin were preventing themselves from laughing. The commotion happened but the question still remains unsolved—how does a lady come to be with child? You had no brothers or sisters to ask and your mother reprimanded you for such a tactless question.
Anthony Bridgerton:
I think you would ask Anthony hesitantly
Like you were in the park, having afternoon tea and while he moodily broods over the fact that he could not spend his time the way he wanted, you were walking up to him with intent written on your face
He would taise his eyebrows in anticipation while you blush
“Anthony, how does a lady come to be with child?”
He would pause.
A long pause because he could not believe that someone as you would ask him directly.
“Anthony?”
He would nod and straighten his back.
How the hell is he going to answer this without sounding like a rake?
You were like a sister to him and naturally, he was protective of you
“What do you need this information for?” he would ask.
Was it him or was the temperature suddenly hot?
“Well, I’d like to know. I am a debutante after all,” you would reply.
“Very well,” he would reply. “When a man and a woman love each other they engage in…an ardent embrace,”
“A hug?” you asked. “I don’t think—“
“An ardent one,” he stressed. “Hugs that happen at night without anybody knowing,”
“Oh,” you replied. “Does that mean that if I hug Benedict or Colin with everyone knowing, I won’t have a child?”
“What?” he would ask. “Why shall you hug him?”
“I don’t know,” you lied. “I just do not understand,”
“You cannot engage in an ardent embrace during the daylight or with anyone around,” he added. “And do not bring my brothers into this. They are despicable,”
“But Anthony, I do not get it—“
“I do not wish to speak on it any further, I hope you grant me of my request,” he interrupted, looking straight ahead. He was watching Daphne and Simon like a hawk.
“Anthony, please answer—“
“Grant my wish,” he said sternly.
You frowned. But much to your chagrin, you yielded before walking off.
Anthony gave himself a pat on the back, proud to have controlled the conversation of reproduction to you.
Surely, he did a good job.
Or so he thought.
Benedict Bridgerton
I think that the fact that you have a slight crush on Benedict would put you in quite an embarrassment.
The truth was, after the debacle with Anthony, you and Eloise still wondered about the logistics of child-bearing.
It wasn’t like you could ask your suitors—for they might get the wrong impression. So, you went to Benedict next.
It was during a ball which both your mamas required you to attend.
You were dancing. Benedict wanted to escape the clutches of the Featheringtons and you wanted to escape the forceful persuasion of Nigel Berbrooke.
“Benedict?”
“What is it?”
“How does a lady come to be with child?”
Now, Benedict knew that he wasn’t a graceful dancer but he took lessons to be graceful enough for others not to notice.
But your question caught him off guard and so, he accidentally stepped on your toes.
“Ow!” you exclaimed while Benedict was trying to cover his flustered composure.
“Are you alright?”
“No, you just stepped on my foot!”
“I’m sorry, you caught me off guard,” he apologised straightening himself. You regained your composure too.
You both laughed.
“What do you need the information for?” Benedict asked.
“Well, one of the maids that I know got got pregnant out of marriage. Anthony says that there must be a secret, nightly, ardent embrace for it to happen but I do not trust his words,”
“He is partially correct,” Benedict noted. “Although, it can happen in the daytime too…or could be known by everyone,”
“Is it true that love is required?”
“It would be great if love was the foundation but sometimes, it’s not the case entirely,”
You frowned.
Being a woman, you are not told of the workings of whatever they speak of. You were highly ignorant of any and all information pertaining to the human body.
“So, I don’t have to be in love with a man for me to bear children with him as long as I engage in this embrace whenever I may please?”
“That’s partially correct,” Benedict replied.
You nodded and the dance came to an end.
“I think that your mama would be a better informant than me,” Benedict said. “Why don’t you ask her?”
“She scolded me for asking such a perverse question,” you replied. “But thank you for your response,”
Benedict nodded hesitantly and watched as a suitor asked for your hand.
Unlike Anthony, he was sure that he did not give you the correct information at all. Sure, he was an artist but how can he explain things without sounding crude?
Benedict nodded to himself, convincing himself that he did an okay job.
He did not.
Colin Bridgerton
You felt quite stupid for not asking Colin any sooner.
You grew up teasing each other and were practically attached to the hip along with Daphne.
But you didn’t want to bother him especially with his pining for Marina. He was too busy ogling at her to even attend to his personal duties.
Still, you dared yourself to go up to him during an afternoon promenade with your family.
“Colin, remember Eloise’s question?” you asked him. You were out of earshot and were walking quite slowly behind the group.
“Whatever do you mean?”
“How does a lady come to be with child and what does the farm have to do with it?” you asked.
Colin laughed. Like, a boisterous laugh.
“It’s not a question that I have expected from you but I shall answer it nonetheless.”
So, Colin, went into detail
Like, when I say detail, it is detailed
He would go on the specifics of becoming with child
Without making it flirtatious, of course but you would blush at the crassness of his language
He would laugh when he saw you shy away from the words ‘heat’, ‘cock’, and other crude words pertaining to sex
“So, you don’t have to be married?”
“You don’t. You just have to be smart,”
“What does intelligence have to do with it?”
“Let’s just say that if I was not smart with it, you see have several little Colins running around the Bridgerton home,”
“Colin!” you gasped, slapping his arm.
“It is the truth,” he replied. “Women who bear children out of wedlock are sadly more affected than men.”
“Oh,” you nodded. “Would you have accepted the child if you were in a man’s position?”
“I don’t know yet but perhaps, yes. The child has no mistake, why must I be cruel towards it?”
“You’re right,” you replied.
“Why have you been curious about this matter?”
“I am a debutante ignorant of the workings of passion…” you replied before whispering that somehow, Eloise let it slip that one of the maids you knew were secretly with-child.
“Juicy gossip!” Colin exclaimed, his eyes eager to know more.
“I don’t know anything else beyond that but that’s what I heard.”
“Well, I’m glad you talked to me about it. What did Anthony and Benedict say when you asked them?”
“Anthony said that it was a secretive, nightly embrace that requires love. Benedict rejected some of Anthony’s words and stepped on me during a dance,”
Colin chuckled.
“Well it’s not everyday that an innocent debutant from a prolific family like you would ask about that,” he would say.
You nodded and continued to stroll, wishing that Colin would never have to experience the misfortunes that he spoke of.
