Summary: You keep Namjoon company as he buys and builds furniture for his new apartment.

A/N: Got this idea after his apartment tour on RM ‘All Day’ Part 1, the cozy vibes were immaculate and I can’t believe we got to see something so personal. It's my first time writing about BTS and I enjoyed it a lot tbh.

“Aww thanks, it brings me a lot of joy to pick up furniture. I feel like in another life I could’ve been an interior designer.” You look up at him giving him a sincere smile, he greets the entrance guard introducing him to you and alerting him that if he saw you he could let you in anytime you needed.

“I would have hired you in a heartbeat.” He responds with a cheeky smile that makes his eyes look like daggers into your soul. Keep looking back at you to check that you are alright carrying the lightest box he gave to you because you refused to be empty handed.

“You know what this reminds me off?” You keep climbing the stairs to the first floor to the destination because Joon, as you call him, refuses to use the elevator for such a short distance going on about conserving electricity in simple ways.

“Pivooooot!” You say elongating the o sound and giggling at your own joke. Imitating Ross during the iconic couch scene from Friends. As you make a turn to the last few steps and he reaccomodates the boxes tightly in his arms, the weight enough to see the flex of his arm muscles.

“Shut up, shut up, shut up!” He pretends to be Chandler waving his arms around for comedic effect, waiting for your reaction because he thought he could have offended you but on the contrary you were laughing and he relaxes saking his head in disbelief that he just did that.

“Didn’t expect you to be a fan of Friends.” You wait behind him as he opens the door and he extends his arm as a signal to pass him by welcoming you.

“Oh yeah, I must confess that I learned English thanks to that show.” You met him on a exchange program college reunion as you both are international students. The program helps you adapt to the new environment with the comradery and companionship between locals and the group that stays for at least a year.

“That’s amazing, I learned English by reading romance books. My bestfriend harassed me into watching it just so we could discuss the episodes and don’t miss out on the references.” What better way to learn a new language than to just enjoying your favorite hobby.

“She’s a good friend then, I would have done the same thing. Actually tried with my roomates, but they ignored my persistent request.” You could imagine him forcing his friends to watch the sitcom and them pretending to enjoy it in order to shut him up.

“Oh right, your 6 roomates you talked to me about. That must have been very chaotic, do you feel at peace or lonely leaving by yourself now?” He leaves his shoes by the front door and you do the same keeping your socks on for comfort.

“A little bit of both, they became my family really quick because we used to see each other more than my actual family. But yeah I can’t lie that sometimes I wanted to run for the hills when they were making too much noise and I wanted to study or sleep. Sometimes I felt like an older brother or the dad of the group.” You think about the similarities because you are the therapist/mom of your girl-friends, even though they are far away you still try to talk to at least one of them everyday.

“I bet they’re missing you even more, maybe they’re thinking of transferring here at least for a year just to follow you around.” His expression changed from deep in thought to a lighter mood when you tried to lift his spirits.

“As much as I love them, I hope not because all of us are so attached that if we don’t take our own paths we would stay like Peter Pan and refuse to grow up.” He chuckles sitting down on the couch and motioning for you to do the same, you tuck your tote bag to the side and turn to face him.

“But the important thing is that you can count on them at the end of the day.” You attempt to highlight the positive side of the situation, not wanting him to dwell on the feeling of fear of how many things were changing in his life including getting a new place to live.

“Exactly, and now I also have you.” He looks at you with tenderness, a strand of his parted hair brushing his eye and you realize that he squeezed your hand because you couldn’t stop feeling the butterflies in your stomach and all you can do it’s nod and smile.

“Honestly I don’t know why you said you needed my help, even the stacks of books look like pieces of art.” You deflect by looking around the living room where he has a black marble coffee table, a couch and a love seat. As you entered the area you noticed several paintings on his walls and sculptures on shelves by the tv.

“You’re far too kind, also I trust you, your taste and your judgement. I could’ve ended up buying something crazy.” You blush and felt special that after such a short time of knowing each other he could feel comfortable.

“I mean you did almost buy a swing that hangs from the ceiling just because it reminded you of a park you went to once.” You give him a judgy look.

“It reminds me of my childhood, I’m still a little tempted to get it.” He lifts his arms in surrender just like a kid would react, and that melted your heart.

“No please, no. It’s a safety hazard and you can’t afford to not getting your album finished.” You stand your ground and scold him jokingly because you knew how hard he was working on his upcoming project. More often than not you texted him about classes or activities around campus and he always responded at ungodly hours. You got concerned about his health and he reassured you that he was taking time to rest between his crazy schedule.

“That’s true, by the way you should visit the studio sometime so I can show you some samples. I think you’ll enjoy it.” He brought the boxes and sat down on the floor in front of the couch to open them, reaching for a remote control to put on some R&B background music.

“I’ll be honored to judge your work, think of my opinions as valuable as the trash you forgot to take out this morning.” You say sitting down across him and pointing out to the bags sitting by the front of his door that never made it downstairs.

“Hey, I was in a hurry because I had to meet you and I looked like a complete mess when I woke up. I already know which song will be your favorite and I bet it’s the one that musicians tell me its their favorite” If this is how he looks after rushing you couldn’t imagine how he would look dressed up, his fashion sense exceeds the expectation of every boy you have seen. His classic white t-shirt that had you hyperventilating when he rolled the sleeves a little, jeans with dark and light blue patches and forest green jacket that he left on the perch.

“Well maybe next time you should consider me as a taste tester, like they do with food, for your future shenanigans.” You wink just to tease him a little and he smirks.

You’re a bit of a perfectionist, correction, a lot of a perfectionist. You help Joon in arranging the different sets of tools and screws he needed to assemble a bookshelf and a desk. While he reads the instruction manual that looked more complicated than the Biochemistry test you took before finally getting your bachelor’s degree. You can’t help but stare at his focused gaze through the glasses he put on figuring out what the demonstrative drawings meant. He has this duality of looking very intellectual and attractive at the same time, any time you try to explain his appeal to your friends they thought you spent too much time reading romance novels and made him one of your fictional boyfriends.

“Could you hand me the screwdriver, please?” You spend a few minutes like that hands brushing every time and you swear that he’s doing it purposely. In between handing things to him you inspected the titles of his books. Reading the spines, careful not to mess up the order and placement.

“You can take out whichever you want, I can sense your curiosity from here.” He notices that your eyes light up like a kid opening the presents under the Christmas tree.

“Sorry, I love books so much and I’m impressed that you have this many.” You mumble apologizing but feel better seeing his proud expression after you give him praise.

“I keep buying them even though I have less time to read these days.” He sighs, shaking his head and his perfectly styled hair sways to the side which is a habit you find adorable but are too afraid to tell him that.

“Bookworm struggles, I can relate. Carl Jung?” You pick up the book rasing an eyebrow at him because you were surprised to find something related to your current field of study. But then again you don’t doubt that he likes to learn new things constantly like you.

“Oh yeah, I’m revising it for some lyrics I want to include in my music. I just realized that this is another thing you could help me with, come be my teacher for a day or two to learn a few psychology theories.” He is literally speaking your love language.

“Don’t tempt me into making a beautiful powerpoint just for you ‘cause you know I will enjoy it and have it ready by tomorrow.” Is it possible to be academically flirting or am I just lame? You wondered but he seems to like your eagerness.

Taking out the book you start pacing around the living room reading it, dancing to the rhythm of the sensual music as he whispers/sings to himself. As time passes you have to re-read a few lines because you start fantasizing about the friendship with Joon turning into something more. Imagining the two of you moving in together, playing house like right now, decorating the apartment for Christmas, getting a pet, making your famous holiday themed chocolate chip cookies…

“What?” You catch him staring at you through your peripheral vision.

“Nothing.” His dragon eyes turned soft and you’re taken aback by his shyness, he’s usually very straightforward, especially giving you compliments or teasing you because he gets excited about how you’ll react.

“Oh I almost forgot, I bought something for you! I guess it counts as a housewarming gift.” You stop in your tracks and head towards your tote bag where you have cleverly hidden it.

“You didn’t have to.” He says while finally finishing his building project and setting them in the space you cleared out for him after making a pseudo blueprint of the area with doodles and estimated measurements in a piece of paper.

“I know, but it reminded me of you so I had to get it.” Now you’re the one staring as he lifts the desk and bookshelf effortlessly.

“What’s that scent? It makes me feel a bit nostalgic and I love it, let me light it.” You hand him the forest green candle poured in a black ceramic vase and he immediately smells it, going to the kitchen and grabbing a match.

“It’s very common for this season, pine and wood.” You shrug like it’s nothing special but it truly reminds you of his grounded, calm and warm personality. He puts it down at the center of the coffee table.

“Come here.” He opens his arms for a hug that he knows you can’t refuse because you have admitted to him before that he gives the best ones. He wraps his arms around you, placing his hands on your lower back, your head pressed to his chest and your arms on his upper back, hands on his shoulders. He sways you side to side like you are waltz dancing to the slow beat and if you could you would stay there forever.

I won’t have forgiven Dean this easily. I also don’t see how racing is of the heart. I was a singer long long time ago now that can use heart. You ever listened to a recording of a song then seen it in concert and the meaning feels different? That is emotion. RM from BTS once talked about how it was a weakness Jungkook has. Jungkook is technically amazing every time but he needed emotion for the song. Idk how you do that with a car though.

Charlie is so death focused it’s time for him to finally self sacrifice himself for Babe. I mean they have only been hinting at it forever? I do like this setting for the confession. It’s a skate park so still wheels and stuff idk it feels fitting this is where Charlie makes the decision.

I missed having my other fave good boy Kim in this episode. Surely he has family or something back in Korea wondering where he is. He’s too good to go missing.

Meet Cute Anniversary (Part 1)

(Right now my tl is being filled with clips of Jinkook moments in Memories of 2021 and as always offbeat, I'm making a post about their first meeting instead of fawning over these new interactions... let's get it)

Bro I had no idea I'd be able to make a whole post centered around just one date:

June 4th 2011

Basically, when editing for fact checks and grammar I realized this post had turned into a compilation of Jk's obsession with 110604. Jin... he's obsessed with something else (part 2?). It got a bit long so I decided it'll be broken into parts.

So to summarize first, June 4th 2011 is the day Jinkook met each other.

Both of them have been pretty consistent with how they try to bring up this first meeting when talking about anything at all. Even if the topic is remotely related, here they go, here's their chance.

Part 1 is almost entirely centered around Jk's mention of the date. Like nothing else. Not the details of what happened on that day, just this date, these numbers.

There's an aspect of this that links up with how they present information on camera (camera awareness): one of them tends to 'claim' a thing special to the both of them as something individual, and the other half would remain quiet. More often so it's Jin who is quiet and Jk who claims it. (Oof, consistent with Jk's obsessive streak. "What's mine is mine. What's yours is mine.") Note that Jin isn't unaware whenever Jk brings it up. His reactions are always interesting.

Examples given below, Jk tends to fib a little about what the date means.

He usually gives a vague answer - it's the day he joined Bighit, or the day he joined BTS, or the day he joined the dorm. Tbh all these explanations are similar but it's interesting that he can't get his story straight for such an important date.

He's disproved his words over the years numerous times too.

Like during the behind-the-scenes for their Dope MV he held up the police baton and said the numbers [20110424] was probably the date he was cast, the day he joined BTS. Subsequently, a lot of armys trend #xyearswithjungkook every year on April 24th.

Another instance that disproves Jk's claims is during that chaotic JijinJung vlive. Jin was struggling to tell a 5 sec story of Jk mispronouncing an English word and in the midst of Jimin teasing Jin with selfcam mode, Jin and Jk were also arguing about the logistics of when they first met:

According to Jin, it's the day Jk first went to the practice studio, and Jin had been there a couple days before. Meanwhile Jk believes they both went to the practice room on the same day, and threw in the tidbit he already signed the contract by then.

The specific day wasn't mentioned but Jk insisted that he and Jin went to the studio on the same day.

During their new year countdown for 2020, filmed in the morning in NYC, the guys were chatting randomly to pass time until the clock hits KST midnight and RM brought up how the 2010s were meaningful to him because he spend it all with BTS.

The three rappers started chatting about the topic and in the midst, Jk went o.o for a moment as he recalled something and stuttered as he tried to chime in 'Mine, mine was 2010...June...June 4'.

Then RM reached out to ask Jk to repeat himself since they were speaking over each other just now. So Jk repeated June 4th and said he thinks he joined the company on June 4th.

During Run BTS Ep 133, Jk mentioned that he arrived in Seoul in 2011.

They may have filmed this episode around the beginning of Jan 2021 because Jin made a comment~ a new year has come. I rewatched a bit of the intro to see who prompted Jk to bring up June 4th and it was himself. Jhope, "it's 2021." Jk's mind: 2021 minus 10 years is 2011, 2011 is the year I came to Seoul... and btw [June 4th] y'all.

To that, Jin happily replied saying they were there together...

And the editors tied everything up with a ribbon in the subtitles [Met Jin on June 4, 10 years ago].

(which reminds me I have to do a post someday about BTS content editors. Those guys ship Jinkook way too hard. Esp. the BV editors.)

During 3J unit interview on You Quiz in March 2021:

Again, what prompted him to mention June 4? Can't be exactly sure, there's cuts in the footage. But the interview topic atm was their dorm, where the host YJS mentioned Taehyung and Namjoon had brought up their dorm and then asked the trio how dorm life was like. Jhope went into explaining how they all used to live together and he was glad they have separate rooms now. Then YJS asked, 'how about you, Jungkook-shii' and the first thing he says is [see figure above].

Just broadly speaking, who remembers the day they move into a new place that clearly?

When they all got to choose their own 6 digit numbers for their Butter jacket 'mugshot':

During their comeback vlive for Butter, Jk explained why he chose this number:

The day he moved into the dorms, he says.

Ok. Twice he's brought June 4th up in relation to moving into the dorm. Maybe that's just it.

But here's what the officially released HipHop Monsters webtoon says:

It's a day off: June 3, 2011. The difference isn't significant. Maybe he misremembered, that's all.

It's just that he's been 'misremembering' everything but 110604. Mountains will move and oceans will become deserts, but Jeon Jungkook will not stop mentioning June 4th 2011.

Jk will put down 110604 any chance he gets:

The most recent mention of the day without the date itself:

He said 'the day' and 'that moment' which points to a pretty specific time and date.

I don't know if you've heard of this day, but I heard Jk mentions June 4th 2011 a lot.

The war flashbacks Jinkookers all get whenever 110604 comes up.

Also, look at Jin's proud little smile after Jk spoke. Cute af.

In conclusion, June 4th has been established as a very important day to Jk. Out of all 6 other members, only Jin has ever been associated with June 4 as well.

Could Jin be part of the reason why June 4th is so special to Jk?

do you have any stray kids video series recommendations? I've listened to their music for a long time and I love them but I've never found the time to actually get into them and learn the members beyond like. recognizing some of them from gifs and mvs and stuff. so I've been wanting to actually get into them but I'm not sure where to start lol. do they have any video series sort of like how bts has run bts?

AHH! Hi Lena, I want to just start of with saying this ask excited me so much. I love those boys so much and I'm more than happy to share ways to get to know them better.

They do have a video series similar to Run BTS! (It seems to go for a few weeks at a time with weekly uploads and then pause and resume - new episodes starting again on Wednesday). It's called SKZ Code and it's so chaotic and fun, full of games and chaotic times, and I highly recommend. Here is the official playlist on YouTube. I'd say just start from the beginning and have fun! And this is definitely where I recommend starting.

They've done similar games and activities series on other channels as well. Such as Fandom Tour on The K-POP. Or Finding SKZ - God Edition on M2. Both of these are great as well.

They also do this thing called 2 Kids Room, or variants thereof, where members sit down and just chat. They done different series on it through the years but they are doing one right now where you can literally see every single 1-1 combination possible chat about their friendship, as well as the others chiming in. I find it very insightful to learn more about them. Official playlist on YouTube here. Just three or two more episodes and it'll be completed.

They've also do great and funny role play videos for STAY's anniversary - one here as a family (a big fave of mine) and as colleagues in an office.

They are also fairly active on their VLIVE channel, in particular Bang Chan does weekly lives, usually on Sunday, where he chats and plays music. Live shows isn't everyone's cup of tea but I always find them very nice. One iconic live with Stray Kids' producer unit 3RACHA - consisting of Bang Chan, Changbin and HAN - comes to mind. I adore these idiots.

I know you said you already listen to their music - (and yay! please if you ever want to talk please know my inbox is open) - but they also do these videos called SKZ Player where they do original songs on the side of their official ones or choreography covers. It's so dope. Playlist is here.

That was all a lot, sorry if it's a little overwhelming. But I hope you have fun! I discovered the boys last autumn and it was such a joy to dive into their content and just find so much content. I had the same feeling getting into BTS originally, and Seventeen about a year prior.

Another Run BTS episode. They play minecraft! Yoongi just wants to make a bed and sleep. Or he’ll be chaotic and set fire to shit. Jimin dyes sheep different colours. Namjoon keeps burning down his houses because they are made of wood. And he drops all of his items. Hobi is just running around lost in a forest somewhere. Jungkook keeps murdering Jin and Jin keeps respawning and running from jungkook. And taehyung is just vibing somewhere finding diamonds.

Hi anon!

Honestly I really loved the Flying Yoga episodes and the last Field Day, and Telepathy had it’s charm. I didn’t really hate any of the new ones in their entirety looking back, and each episode had at least several moments that made me laugh or smile… but I guess the energy just felt lacking sometimes? I think some of them just felt a bit boring too maybe (probably because I wasn't a huge fan of some of the concepts). I think it didn’t help that they had the whole “hiatus” thing looming over them.

Tbh, I’ve still yet to get through every Run episode, especially some of the later ones (because I started watching them chronologically) so I’m probably missing some key moments! But here are some of the ones I really enjoyed!

21 - “The Taste of Korea” (this is the first cooking episode so it just has lots of iconic moments!) 25 - “BTS vs Zombie” (a true classic imo) 52 - “The 50th Episode Special, Pt. 2” (I just love theme parks) 54-56 - “BTS Picnic pt 1-4” (kind of like a mini BV with some strong sentimental moments at the end) 64-66 - “BTS school pt1-3” 70-72 - “BTS in Toronto pt1-3” (another mini BV) 80-81 - “Operation 007 pt1-2” (definitely a fan favorite) 84-86 - “Summer Outing pt1-3” (1000% recommend these) 105-107 - “Photo Exhibition pt1-3” (has a really iconic Jimin moment at the end) 119-120 - “Photo Story pt1-2” 127-128 - “777 Lucky Seven pt 1-2” (two of my favorite episodes ever! underrated imo) 141-142 - “BTS Collaboration Variety Show pt1-2" (this is part of a collaboration with the Game Caterer’s, so some of the episodes are on their Youtube channel. Here’s a playlist with the other parts if you’re interested!

IIRC you watch Run BTS 141 and then 1-3 off this playlist, Run BTS 142 and then the rest. The first three YouTube videos where they each have a secret mission are definitely at the top of my list, so chaotic and funny!)

Special Episode - Fly BTS Fly pt1-2 (honestly two of my favorites overall now that I'm looking back)

And an honorable mention to episode 41 (I think it’s pt2 of something) which is the origin of the Lachimola running joke

Anyways, if you feel like it, let me know if you end up watching and enjoying any of these! Like I said, I'm probably missing a lot of great episodes, but these were all super memorable and funny for me!

☆ ALICIA’S MONTHLY MEDIA MENTIONS: June `22

hello! as promised, I’m back with another monthly media mentions post! June has been a bit of a crazy month - I got another job (which I actually like - hooray!), my grandma is staying over and needs taking care of, my sister crashed the car LMFAO, and I’ve just been trying to help out around the house a bit more. unfortunately I didn’t create as much art as I wanted to - most of my time was consumed editing that damn art critique video (like literal weeks). but, this is the media that got me through a tough month! cheers to another summer ☀️

Umbrella Academy (season 3)

this show is so gd entertaining. I think I finished this season in 2 days? it was great! super fun scenes and special moments between characters. Robert Sheehan and Ritu Arya are perfect for their roles - Ritu especially is so charismatic and I hope to see her in more projects!

Street Woman Fighter

I'm not sure why I didn’t watch the episodes as they came out last year, but I’m so mad I didn’t! these ladies slay and I'm so happy that dancers have been getting more recognition through this show. I want Monica to be my mom and Lip J to be my auntie. everyone in this show is so COOL I can’t even describe how awestruck I am with them all. Aiki - give me one chance PLEASE

Haikyu!!

I've tried to watch this show a few times - with my sister, by myself, but for some reason or another did not continue watching it. I restarted it again because my lovely friend loves it and recommended I watch it - so I did :) it’s super cute and also has me missing my volleyball days >:(

Stranger Things (season 4)

I'm sure this has been on a lot of people’s watchlist - I actually wasn’t planning on watching this season, but saw the clip from that one scene in ep 4 and I changed my mind. Either this or season 3 has been the best so far, but I can’t say just yet because I’m still waiting on the second part! Sadie sink supremacy.

YOUNG-LUV.COM - STAYC

I didn’t like RUN2U the first time I heard it, which is why it took me some time to listen to the album. but the STAYC girls don’t disappoint. I love the guitar and the feeling of nostalgia I get when I listen to YOUNG LUV. 247 and SAME SAME have lovely vocals. RUN2U is also growing on me, but I will say I do like their other title tracks better in comparison.

Summary: You hate him, he hates you. You were both fine staying in your own lanes–until you’re forced to work together on a make-or-break project for your company.

A/N: I was going to split this but thought--whatever, I'm out of time and needed to get this update out! Lots of stuff happening here and I had to backtrack and watch a few Run BTS episodes--which is not really a problem. Anyway, I've also been wanting to write about Namjoon's Patek Philippe watch...and here it is, finally!

One more note--a few of these scenes here were inspired by an episode of Insecure from their final season (sorry, I love that show so much)! I love me some Molly and Taurean ♥️ Anyway--ENJOY!

You didn’t know what to say to Jungkook. Another excuse? Truthfully, you didn’t even want to think of one.

“Fuck this. I mean…if I was dad, I’d be getting my shotgun ready.”

“You’re overreacting, Jungkook-ah,” you said blandly.

“Like hell I am!” He’s pacing the room, nostrils flaring. Pissed that Yoongi had canceled last-minute…again.

You were in the kitchen, your hip leaning against the counter, staring at your phone with your thumb hovering over your text application’s keypad, contemplating a response.

It’s fine–I understand.

I sprung this on you and didn’t really expect you to be there.

I’m sorry if you felt pressured.

Would any of those work, you thought to yourself.

We never really talked about the state of our relationship.

Relationship? Would you even call it that? Maybe you missed the part where you two defined it or put a label on it. Your screen went dark and locked up from inactivity.

“Noona?”

Your brother was incredibly perceptive. He was a chaotic chatterbox when he was excited or riled up about something but he was quiet when he needed to be. And when he was, he listened intently…and felt profoundly.

“Hm?”

“C’mon, let’s go out for ice cream,” he urges.

Jungkook noticed your reticence and felt that you needed a respite.

“Uhm–” you hesitated for a moment.

“It will be refreshing, I promise. My treat,” he coaxes with a soft smile.

******

It was a humid evening. Although the walk around the block was pretty torturous due to the mugginess, you were still relieved that Jungkook convinced you to come out for a treat–momentarily forgetting the reason for tonight’s disappointment.

The snack shop had a variety of options–from fried snacks to sweets like dessert crepes, boba tea, and ice cream.

“I think I’m gonna get the hot fudge sundae,” Jungkook utters while you both stand in line, looking at all of the offerings on the overhead display screen behind the counter.

“How ‘bout you, noona? What do you feel like?”

“Can’t we just split that?” you asked.

“Uhh…” he hesitated. Jungkook was not big on sharing–especially with his favorite snacks.

“Fuck, fine. Not sure why I even asked,” you muttered. “I guess I’ll just have my standby mint-chip ice cream.”

Then comes a soft gagging sound, which you ignored.

“Maybe I’ll get a triple-scoop in a waffle bowl.”

The gagging becomes more apparent this time and you caught the person who stood ahead of you with their shoulders heaving.

You finally scoffed and tapped them on the back. ”Excuse me, do you have a problem with my dessert choices?”

When he turns around, Jungkook’s eyes immediately light up.

Namjoon grimaces as he watches you consume spoonfuls of acid-green ice cream into your mouth. You look at him pointedly.

“I’m sorry, but that is just the most disgusting flavor ever invented.”

“‘Disgusting’ is such a strong word, Namjoon,” you said as you broke off a piece of your waffle bowl to mix it with your next bite.

Jungkook was busy inhaling his sundae–which he got with a double serving of fudge, whipped cream, and extra cherries.

Namjoon was halfway through his strawberry, banana, and nutella crepe when he was distracted by the minty scent of your dessert, after the three of you decided to share a table where you sat across from him.

He listened to you hum in appreciation and watched as your tongue licked the back of the spoon clean. “Delicious. You should try it sometime,” you urged.

“My mouth is watering already,” he meant it to be sarcastic but it came out a little too huskily.

You raised your eyebrows at his comment.

He coughs to clear his throat. “What I mean is–I love oral hygiene as much as the next person but I don’t have any desire to ingest anything that tastes like something to clean my mouth with.”

You started to think about his mouth since he mentioned it twice already…but you rolled your eyes instead. “The mint flavor is meant to be refreshing and cooling during a hot day!”

He snorted. “That’s a completely redundant argument and you know it.”

“Excuse me? What do you mean by that?”

“It’s ice cream! You could pick any flavor! It will cool you down, regardless, because it is already cold to begin with!” He shakes his clenched fists passionately to make a point.

“You’re just a hater,” you said, then upturned your chin dismissively.

He smirked. “What–no smartass comeback from Miss YN? Did I actually win this one?”

You scoffed. “It’s not just the mint. There’s chocolate in there, too! What’s not to love?”

“Respectfully, YN–let’s break down the ingredients, shall we? It’s a combination of something that people are fond of–chocolate,” he holds one palm up slowly, “Which is then bastardized with a smattering of toothpaste flavor,” he presents the other palm more aggressively before clasping his hands together. “Combined? You’re brushing your teeth and eating chocolate at the same time. It’s just…blasphemous,” he shook his head.

“Wow, you really have a strong opinion about this,” you commented, as he continued to eat his crepe.

Namjoon was about to open his mouth to make another point but you both pause when you hear Jungkook sniggering.

You turned your attention to him to find that he had been watching you both go back and forth this whole time.

“Oh, please keep going! Don’t stop on my account. This is too good,” he says, scrunching his nose into a big, bunny smile.

“Maaannn–hyung-nim is hilarious!”

You’re not sure how it happened but Jungkook managed to get permission from Namjoon to call him ‘hyung.’

“Don’t get too comfortable, Jungkook,” you said sarcastically as you both walked back to your apartment.

“You know, noona, I’m starting to think you were just making up all that shit this whole time–”

“Excuse me?”

He laughs. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding. He seems so nice though?”

You sighed. “I mean–to be fair, you’ve never seen him in top form–his most annoying form,” you clarified.

But something’s changed. You couldn’t quite put your finger on it. He had been surprisingly less argumentative and even complimentary the last few days at work, especially after turning in that proposal to the Moonstone Foundation.

That Friday night at bowling, he was joking around, laughing with the rest of the group, and talking trash–not to be mean-spirited. He was just out having fun.

Until of course, that awkward run-in–which was in the back of your mind while you were at the snack shop. You didn’t want to bring it up on account of your brother being there. You figured it was a sore subject that he didn’t want to delve into.

You weren’t really part of his social circle–the happy hour was an isolated event, to say the least. But you were starting to see him in a new light and somehow, it didn’t bother you.

“Or…maybe he just didn’t want to be insufferable since you were there,” you said, trying to justify it.

You both arrived at your front gate and he takes the keys from you to unlock it. Once you both stepped into your home and left your shoes at the door, he sighs.

“Yeah. Or maybe he’s just misunderstood? I don’t know.”

“I wouldn’t know either. We don’t have that kind of relationship anyway,” you said. Your comment wasn’t meant to be dismissive–it was just a fact.

“I might take his advice though–I mean, he didn’t have to say all those things but he gave me a lot to think about,” he says as he turns your portable air conditioner on to full blast before plopping down on the couch, leaning his head back onto the cushion.

When Jungkook talked about deciding on whether to get right into the workforce or go to grad school, Namjoon kindly gave him some advice on the pros and cons of either one.

“You’re right, he didn’t have to do that,” you said as you also had this same conversation with Jungkook in the past but left it up to him to decide on what to do next.

“I know–and he didn’t have to offer to write me a letter of recommendation to any chosen grad program that I wanted to enroll in–if that's what I decided to do,” he laughs.

“That was incredibly generous of him,” you commented as you took the spot next to him, after he grumbled that you were blocking his air.

“Yeah…really generous,” Jungkook says wistfully.

He then turns head towards you. “Are you sure you guys haven’t fucked?”

You instinctively punch him in the arm.

He throws his head back in laughter. “I’m so glad I came out here, noona.”

“Yeah…me, too.”

******

The next morning, before he set off on his long drive back to university, you were running through a mental checklist in your head to make sure that he had enough provisions to get him through his roadtrip.

He rolled his eyes. “Geez, you’re worse than mom,” he jokes.

“You’re still my little brother. Just shut up and let me take care of you!”

He relents and lets you have your way. When he has everything packed up, you hand him some cash–for food, gas, or a hotel stay.

“This is way too much, noona,” he says as he tries to hand you back some of the money.

You pushed his hand back towards him. “Just take it, Kookie. It’s a long drive–and between us? I know that I am not the struggling student here.”

He smiles then pockets the money before he envelops you in a tight embrace.

“Feel free to come see me whenever, okay?” He murmurs into your hair.

“How much of a heads up do you need in case you had any guests at your off-campus apartment?”

He giggled in response, releasing you from his hold. “Hey…listen…I’m sorry for the things I said about Yoongi.”

You sighed in response. “Oh, Jungkookie, I’m not mad or anything.”

“Yeah, but I don’t even know the guy. I could be wrong about him. And I’m wrong a lot, you know,” he gives you a half-smile. “Maybe the timing’s just bad or…” he trails off.

“I guess. But that’s not really anything that you should worry about,” you said.

“And neither should you. I just want you to be happy, sis–that’s all.”

As annoying as your brother was most times, it made your heart lurch at how absolutely sweet he could be. “Thanks, butthead.”

With a grin and one final hug, he was off.

A few minutes later, a text message comes through.

Yoongi: Hey…I was wondering if I could stop by later. Can we talk?

******

You stood in your kitchen, arms crossed over your chest while leaning against the counter while Yoongi sat on your couch quietly.

After some awkward smalltalk, you finally decided to just rip the bandage off. “You know, Yoongi–we don’t have to do this,” you began.

“No, YN. I–I’ve been unfair to you these last few days and you deserve an explanation.”

“What happened, Yoongi? Just be honest with me. Was it something that I said or did?”

“No, no. It’s not that. It’s…me. It’s on me,” he says, with his hands on his chest, as he turns to look at you.

“I don’t get it. I thought that…I thought that we were–to use your words, ‘having fun?’”

“We are…were,” he says, rubbing his face with his palms.

Here come the past tense references. You chuckled to yourself.

“I saw Cici at the conference.”

“Sorry, who?”

“Cici. My…” he exhaled sharply, as if to pace himself, “Ex-girlfriend.”

It occurred to you that he hadn’t really mentioned her name or talked about her much.

“She’s in public policy, too.” Yoongi says unnecessarily and pauses.

You rubbed your cheek and rested your mouth over your palm, in deep thought while dreading the next words that would come out of his mouth. You never really prodded or asked about his ex. He may have mentioned her once or twice during your many conversations but you were too enraptured in the moment.

You attempted to steady your already shaky breath. “Okay…and?”

“And we talked.”

Another long pause.

“I had to think things through carefully because…she broke my heart and…we just wanted different things. It took me a while to get over that and I really didn’t want to be in that place again. I was done with it…or–at least, I thought I was. A-and then…”

“So you fucked.” You said it in a very simplistic tone.

“No, no!” he said adamantly. “No, it wasn’t like that.”

Somehow, his denial didn’t bring you any relief. The tears were starting to build up but you shifted your position, distracting yourself to prevent them from falling.

“The rest of the week, I was just really confused. I was just letting it all sink in…and then I thought about you and…”

You shook your head gently. You wanted to believe that was true–but couldn’t bring yourself to it. You took a few steps to the other counter that was closer to the couch, arms spread on either side of you while your palms gripped the underside of the lip.

“Just cut the shit, Yoongi, please.” You begged him to end the torture this moment…you held your breath.

He inhales sharply then exhales to get the rest of his thoughts out. “I…We…decided that we were going to try and work things out.”

The second you released that breath, you felt the tears rapidly making their way to the forefront. You bit the inside of your cheek, hanging on to whatever minute fiber of self-preservation you had within you.

“I-I’m sorry, YN. I…didn’t mean to–”

“Stop, please. I don’t want to hear it.”

“No, YN. I just feel horrible about this. I’ve been struggling with it since I got back. You’re such a great person–”

“Yoongi, please…” your voice was barely a whisper.

He rises to move towards you but you hold your hands up in defense, stopping him in his tracks.

You squeezed your eyes shut and shook your head again. “I’d like you to leave.”

He stands there, of two minds about it–he wants to wrap you in his arms but doesn’t want to blur the lines further.

You opened your eyes, seeing that he hasn’t moved an inch. “I said, I’d like you to leave. Now.” you said a bit more firmly before turning your back towards him, your head in your hands.

“YN–I’m really–”

“Fuck, are you deaf?” You snapped as you rapidly turned back to look at him, eyes filled with rage. “I said, go!” You yelled out.

He gives a curt nod, picks up his jacket and walks towards the doorway.

You turned away from him once more and as soon as you heard the door click, you collapsed onto your kitchen floor.

Although you wanted to spend the day in your pajamas, just laying in bed and watching a Friends marathon on TV–you still had to go to the staff retreat out of town–which unfortunately, Yoongi was going to as well.

You had to pull yourself together.

You found the strength to pack your bag first thing in the morning and still had plenty of time to make it to the coordinated bus ride to the location.

People seemed to really like the beach last year as opposed to the mountains and staying in log cabins in previous years. Everyone had voted and Celina recognized the democratic process and booked a whole resort for three days and two nights for your company, packed with team building and extracurricular activities.

You sat with Mirai on the bus and were quiet for most of the ride. However, you frequently chatted her up so she wouldn’t have to ask questions.

After everyone is checked into their rooms, you all gathered out to the beachfront where Celina gives her welcome remarks.

She thanks the HR and administrative support teams for organizing and planning everything. She goes on to give a rough layout of what’s to happen during your stay at the resort. She emphasizes that although most of the activities were to encourage getting to know your teammates better and strengthening the level of trust in them, it was still meant to be a way to relax and decompress after a long and arduous proposal and conference season.

You weren’t exactly sure how relaxation would be possible since the current source of your stress was standing just a few feet from you. After Celina’s remarks, she instructs everyone to break into their regular working teams to prepare for the Office Olympics.

As you begin to walk off with Jimin and Mirai, you see Yoongi closing in on you.

“Hey guys, wait up!” You call out to them, effectively warding him off. You’re not sure for how long but you were determined to avoid him as much as you possibly could for the duration of the retreat.

Namjoon was off with his own team while Yoongi was teamed up with a couple of research fellows who didn’t have any direct reports underneath them.

There were six events in all. Whichever team garners the most points by the end of Day 2 is awarded the gold medal.

Jin and the finance team were determined to be in serious contention this year since they finished two points behind your team. It was a bitter loss to him.

The first event was table tennis–which Jin and his team aced. Typical…but you took the loss in stride. You still finished second and what was important was to accumulate enough points at the end of the day to get to the finish line.

Second event was a limbo bar relay–where teams had to carry another teammate on their back to pass through it.

“That’s impossible,” Yoongi says with a chuckle as Celina explains the rules.

You rolled your eyes at him. “It’s easy! Look–c’mon, Jimin,” you said as you stood back-to-back, linking elbows, before lifting him up on your back then walking under the bar. “See? It’s not that difficult,” you said to him.

Needless to say, your team slayed the event, thanks to your relatively lithe teammates.

The third event was dodgeball.

For the final round, the last four teams were combined for a sudden death match to finalize the day’s leaderboard. Jin and Namjoon’s team were paired together while your team and Yoongi’s team were merged.

Things got very intense pretty quickly so there wasn’t enough time for awkwardness with Yoongi. Each team took major hits until Namjoon’s team was completely eliminated. The last ones standing were you, Jin, and Yoongi. You picked up a ball and hurled it at Jin, which he avoided. He then takes his turn and throws it at you. You swerved to avoid it, unaware of Yoongi’s current position behind you.

Yoongi dives to the ground in an attempt to catch the ball to throw it back at Jin to eliminate him–but he miscalculates, losing his footing and falling on his shoulder—hard.

Everyone sitting on the sidelines gasps. Yoongi slowly rolls over, wincing and writhing in pain. You instinctively walk towards him to check his condition but someone else beats you to it.

“Can someone please call a medic? Or call hotel staff to get an ambulance and bring him to the emergency room to get checked out,” Celina orders. She then proceeds to ask Yoongi where he thought the pain was coming from and if he could stand up.

As head of the company, she took it upon herself to be liable for each and everyone of you. Jimin had an ill-timed rupture in his appendix during last year’s retreat. She rode in the ambulance with him, stayed until he was out of surgery, and the doctors gave him the all-clear for the evening.

“I’ll go to the concierge,” her assistant says.

On account of Yoongi’s injury and while waiting for the ambulance to take them to the nearest emergency room, Celina proposes that everyone get the same score for the third event to add to the end-of-day tally–which all teams were amenable to.

The day’s standings were:

1 - Team YN

2 - Team Jin

3 - Team Namjoon

Jimin and Mirai were elated–and you thought you would be, too. While you were reeling from what Yoongi had done to you, this was the last thing that you wanted to happen to him.

It was after dark by the time Yoongi and Celina returned to the hotel–or so Jimin says to you while you walk out to the elevators together. Once you both arrive at the lobby, you were walking towards the beachfront to meet up with Mirai and the others to enjoy a pre-dinner bonfire when you found Yoongi sitting by himself on one of the beach chairs by the pool with his arm in a sling.

You thought twice about approaching him to check whether he was okay–before you knew it, you were walking out towards the pool and told Jimin you’d catch up to him in a few minutes.

“Are you alright?” You tried to keep your tone distant.

Your question startles Yoongi as looks back to find you standing behind him.

“Fine, thanks. I appreciate you checking on me,” he says quietly.

“Well, you’re not dead so–that’s a relief, I guess,” you smile sardonically then turn on your heel and start to walk away.

Before you get too far, he stands up and calls out to you. “Hey…”

You groaned before turning back to him. “What?”

“A-are you okay?”

“Why? Do I not look okay?”

“You…you look like you hate me.”

“Well, gee, I wonder why,” you mutter sarcastically.

“Listen…for what it’s worth, this isn’t easy for me either.”

“Oh yeah, you look really destroyed.”

“YN…I thought that we were just having fun, messing around—I didn’t think that you were looking for anything serious. You even wanted to keep it a secret at the office…“

That floored you. “Wha—’messing around’? I wouldn’t ask you to meet my brother if I was just messing around with you—“

“Look–I’m really sorry about all this. I think you’re really great and I’m just really messed up. Cici and I–have been broken up for a year…A-and I really thought that I was ready for someone new and that I had given things enough time to settle. When we bumped into each other that day at the office, I thought you looked beautiful and–”

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me!” you spat out at him. Was he trying to gaslight you?

“YN, please–keep your voice down.”

“Don’t tell me what I can and cannot do,” you whispered harshly at him. “You–pursued me…and then you played me,” you said bitterly while you pointed your finger at him. “I thought that we had something–all those things that you said to me–”

“YN, in our line of work, we’re never supposed to trust anything unless the evidence is empirical. I thought that you, of all people, would know that.”

“And I thought that you were a sincere person. Not just somebody who was trying to test out a fucking theory on a controlled sample!” you seethed.

Namjoon

This felt wrong…intrusive, even.

He could have just gone about his business to meet up with Hobi and Jin at the bar for a drink, like he had originally intended.

But something about this scene that was unfolding in front of him kept him rooted to his position.

YN looked evidently upset. Not annoyed or combative like she usually is. Trouble in paradise? She looks genuinely at a loss. What was Yoongi saying to her?

He contemplated moving a little closer to hear.

No, too obvious.

Namjoon had never seen her in this state. No matter how many barbs he hurled at her, she always managed to toss them back at him, with an even sharper edge. She always, always stood her ground when it came to him.

Now here she was…seemingly cowering in Yoongi’s presence. He has her in some sort of…trance. And it’s messing with her head.

Namjoon is not sure why he’s worried about this. It’s really none of his business. This is why he didn’t involve himself with anybody at work. Everything would just get too personal.

He watches her jerk her neck backwards in disgust. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” she says loudly.

“YN, please…keep your voice down,” he says in an annoyingly calm demeanor–practically dismissive.

She whispers something else to him–she was clearly pissed as she started talking with her hands. It was something that Namjoon was used to seeing when she was trying to make a point.

“YN, in our line of work, we’re never supposed to trust anything unless the evidence is empirical. I thought that you, of all people, would know that.”

“And I thought that you were a sincere person. Not just somebody who was trying to test out a fucking theory on a controlled sample!” She hissed in rapid-fire succession.

Shit, YN was storming off…and headed towards where Namjoon stood. He panics as he tries to figure out where to go–because it won’t be long until she–

“Ah!” She gasps as she slams right into Namjoon’s chest.

He took a good look at her face as she peered up at him–her eyes were bloodshot and cheeks were stained with tears.

“S-sorry,” she scrambles embarrassingly while gently pushing off him to run back indoors.

You missed the group dinner, opting to order some room service instead–which you barely touched.

After a good cry, you paced around your room. You were sad before but now you were pissed. Actually, you were incensed–not just at Yoongi but for allowing yourself to be duped by him.

You decided that you would let loose tonight–even just for a little bit. You wouldn’t let Yoongi dampen your mood.

You put on a black, sleeveless, high-neck knit top and a silky, shell-colored, calf-length ruched skirt with a high-slit that showed off a little leg. It wasn’t quite work-appropriate but when you packed this outfit in your suitcase, being appropriate was the last thing on your mind.

As soon as you stepped into the hotel lounge, you walked straight up to the bar and ordered a double-shot of tequila. You were vaguely aware of Namjoon two seats down from you, nursing a glass of whiskey.

You were disconcerted since you basically walked right into his chest while trying to make a hasty getaway from Yoongi.

But tonight wasn’t about them. You’d deal with the questions and aftermath later.

His absence did not shock you–not that you were searching for him or anything. With his shoulder injury from earlier this afternoon, perhaps he figured that drinking might not be the smartest decision for him.

Celina was there but typically only stayed for a couple of glasses of wine, mingling a bit with staff before calling it a night. She loved her staff with all her heart and treated them like equals…like family.

But she drew the line when drinking was involved. She wanted to keep the image of an immaculately competent and professional staff in her head, refusing to see them in various levels of inebriation while possibly engaging in some form of debauchery.

Somehow, everyone treated that as a respectable decision–and staff have yet to go overboard when it came to partying. She joked that it was plausible deniability for her.

“C’mon! One more,” you waved the bartender over, slamming the glass onto the counter while ordering your sixth shot of tequila. Salt and limes scattered everywhere.

“That’s…uh–that’s a lot, YN. Did you eat at all today?” Namjoon asks, sounding concerned.

“Do you dance, Namjoon?” you ask him as you watch the bartender pour you another shot.

“Uh–n-not in public,” he says, a little fearful of what you might do next.

“Well, there’s a first time for everything, isn’t there?” You picked up the glass and threw it back quickly.

“YN–I…”

Before he could finish his thought, you were already strutting your way to the dancefloor, swaying your body to the beat. He stared at you, dumbfounded.

“C’mon, Namjoon! Live a little,” you said as you undulated your hips. Those multiple shots of tequila had worked their way deep into your veins now.

You locate Jimin on the dancefloor, who was dancing with Mirai. You start to vibe with him…and as soon as you close in, he instantly wraps his arm around your waist and rolls his hips, complementing your movements. God, he was such a good dancer, you thought. Hobi and Tae join in shortly and it wasn’t long before the DJ had everyone hyped up.

Meanwhile, Namjoon remained seated, with his eyes glued to you.

Fuck.

Fuuuuucckkk.

You feel like you’ve been hit by a truck…or several. Or maybe one really long train that had an infinite number of cars. Either way…fuck.

You open your eyes and catch a glimpse of the clock on the nightstand. 12:25PM.

“Shit,” you muttered. You realized you had already missed the majority of the second and final round of the Office Olympics today. You picked up your phone to find several missed calls and texts from Mirai.

You hated disappointing your teammates but truth be told, they might have fared better without you as your hangover is rendering you completely useless today. You send Mirai a quick text letting her know that you were alive and that you’d apologize properly later.

You sat up–very gingerly. You look around the room–thank god that the blackout curtains were drawn. They would not have helped your headache.

You lifted the sheets and looked down at your outfit. Your shoes were off, skirt was still on–but somehow your top was askew. One side was sitting atop your right shoulder while the other half still had your arm inserted through the hole. Did somebody try to get you out of it but ultimately decided that it was a lost cause?

You ran your fingers through your hair–it still felt and, you sniffed it–smelled clean, which means that you didn’t throw up. Or perhaps you did and somebody had the presence of mind to pull it back for you?

You look around the bed to find scattered pieces of Skittles–or were they M&Ms?

There were also a couple more empty bottles from the mini bar scattered on the covers.

You rubbed your temples, groaning and cursing repeatedly–not just from the throbbing headache but the sinking feeling of whatever occurred here after you blacked out.

You turn to find a bottle of water next to a couple of sachets of ibuprofen sitting on the nightstand. You immediately tear one open and wash it down–willing it to work as soon as possible.

You then attempted to stand. Surprisingly, you managed to stay on your feet without feeling like the room was spinning. You glance downwards to find one of the trash bins next to the bed.

Somebody must have really taken good care of you last night.

You shed the rest of your top and decide to take a shower to hopefully aid in curing this hangover.

Before heading into the en suite bathroom, you notice something sticking out between the pillow and sheets. You walked back to take a closer look. You retrieved it then held it up, knowing full well that it wasn’t yours–because when did you ever wear men’s watches?

“Oh shit,” you gasped.

You walked into the hotel coffee shop a little after 1:30, wearing dark sunglasses, a hoodie and a pair of leggings then went up to the bartender to order a glass of orange juice. Thankfully, it wasn’t the bartender from last night–you couldn’t quite deal with that aftermath just yet.

“Hey! There’s our party animal!”

You looked over to find Jimin waving you over to their table–where Mirai, Taehyung, Hobi, and Namjoon were already seated.

“Uh–hey,” you croaked out in their direction. You politely asked the bartender to bring your order over to the table instead.

As you walk over to your teammates, Jin passes you.

“YN! Thanks for handing me the win today–although, I have to say, it would have been much sweeter had I actually faced you in the finale,” he says with a chuckle before walking away.

You sat with your group, taking the empty seat adjacent to Namjoon and set your glasses down on the table.

“You look like you need some samgyeopsal,” Hobi teases.

You groaned. “Don’t look at me, please. I look hideous. Although–samgyeopsal sounds good right about now,” you retorted.

After the bartender delivers your orange juice, they proceed to talk about how neck and neck both teams were–until Jin ultimately claimed victory. When the final result was announced, Jin and the finance team did a whole victory lap with Jin walking around the room after receiving his gold medal, his arms spread out while humming the graduation march theme enthusiastically.

“I’m really sorry for missing out this morning and letting you down, guys–”

The team waves you off and takes it in stride. Mirai mentions that she was more worried about you surviving the night.

“So uh–actually, as I was walking over here, I…happened to find a watch in the hallway,” you lied. “It was nowhere near my room or anything,” you said defensively. “B-but it was on the same floor. Strangest thing,” you babbled.

“I was wondering if any of you knew whom it belonged to?” You unzipped your purse and pulled the item out–brown alligator skin bracelet, black-brown dial, enclosed in a rose-gold casing with a matching clasp. It was also heavy–like it cost a fortune.

“It’s a Patek Philippe–”

“Uhh..that would be mine.”

You looked over at Namjoon, who was smiling sheepishly.

Your eyebrows rose–and you tried your best to keep your jaw from dropping. “Oh.”

You absentmindedly handed it to him. Cold sweat prickles through your skin as he takes it from you, and you watch him secure the pricey trinket around his right wrist.

“Thanks. I went looking all over for it last night,” he says with a chuckle.

“So” you clasped your hands, desperate to change the subject. “Did you guys do anything fun last night?”

The team, with the exception of Namjoon, begin cackling.

“Oh man–you were really gone last night, weren’t you, YN?” Taehyung says.

Hobi picks up his phone and unlocks it.

“No–not the video,” Mirai winces.

“What? It’s funny!” Jimin chuckles.

“I’m really, really sorry, YN. I tried to put a stop to it,” she says apologetically.

“Here, see for yourself,” Hobi says as he queues something up on the screen.

You gasp in horror as you watch yourself twerking on the dancefloor, surrounded by your colleagues as they egged you on.

You felt your soul leave your body, hand flying into your mouth–which was widely agape. “Oh my god,” you breathed into your hand, extremely mortified.

“Alright, alright–that’s enough,” Namjoon says as he gives Hobi and the rest of the table a stern look.

“Let’s not pretend that we haven’t all done the same thing at one point in our lives,” he says.

“Sorry, YN-ssi. I’m deleting it now–see?” Hobi says as he shows you his screen, then proceeds to delete it permanently from his cloud account. “Please don’t fire me,” he says softly to Namjoon.

You smiled at him before glancing over to Namjoon, mouthing a quiet ‘thanks’ to him.

After lunch, another enrichment and team-building session was scheduled in the next hour. As the team disperses, you pull Namjoon aside.

“Hey, uh–thanks for…having my back there,” you said. “To tell you the truth, I actually found your watch under my pillow. Not to add the awkwardness but uhm–did…did something else happen last night? I mean, did we–” you made a face, hoping he’d get the hint and that you didn’t have to spell it out for him.

“Oh!” He says with a look of realization. “N-no, no. No, we didn’t,” he says, shaking his head vigorously. “You were really out of it. I just helped you back to your room,” he explains.

“Because when I woke up, my top was–”

He stifles a smile. “Uhm–that was all you. I laid you on the bed and turned away for a minute to get you a warm towel from the bathroom. Then by the time I got back, you had already gotten into the mini bar. You said that you wanted some Skittles—like, desperately. Once I managed to pull you away, you then kept saying that you were feeling hot but cold at the same time…and then you kept trying to take your top off–”

He stopped talking as he saw you visibly cringing in embarrassment and looking disgusted as he gave you a play-by-play of last night’s events.

“A-anyway–I uh–didn’t look. I just made sure that you got to bed…safely,” he finishes.

You closed your eyes–wishing you could disappear right this moment. You felt sick to your stomach. If the alcohol didn’t make you throw up this morning, hearing about how incredibly messy you got last night was enough to do the trick.

“Jesus…I’m so, so, sorry, Namjoon.”

“Hey–don’t worry about it. Happens to the best of us,” he shrugs. He was unusually understanding and calm about it and you weren’t quite sure why. And then you suddenly remember why you got wasted in the first place…and that he was perhaps also aware of it.

“Are you okay, though?”

You caught your lips between your teeth. “I’ll be fine. Thank you…really. I, uh–might just go for a walk…get some fresh air.”

“Sure–I’m sure Celina will understand,” he says. “My back already hurts from all the heavy lifting I’ve had to do to lead most of the sessions,” he jokes.

“I’m sorry–I just feel like…like I can’t get my shit together today. It’s not going to do anybody any good,” you grimaced.

“I’m only kidding,” he says. “Just go take some time to yourself.”

You thanked him and promised you’d be back for closing remarks later this evening. Division leaders were tasked to give motivational speeches to the whole team–to keep momentum going and to stay focused in meeting your company’s vision and goals.

That evening, you somehow managed to pull yourself together to deliver a rousing pep-talk to the whole team. Afterwards, you made a swift exit to sit by the courtyard overlooking the beach, trying to enjoy the quiet before running into Yoongi again when you returned to the office.

“Hi.”

Namjoon’s soft greeting startles you and you try to swipe quickly at your tears. “Hi,” you replied.

“May I?” He asks to take the seat next to you.

“Sure.”

After he took a seat, he sighed deeply. “Nice view, huh?”

“I guess,” you said, noncommittal.

“By the way–nice speech earlier.”

During your speech, you remarked about learning how to pick yourself up when you fail and to use it as a learning experience, as motivation, as fuel–to propel you to success.

“Thank you,” you said.

You sat side-by-side, quietly listening to the breeze caressing the trees.

“Do you want to talk about it?” His offer takes you by surprise.

Although he took care of you last night, you weren’t sure if perhaps there was some underlying ill-intent here–something that he could possibly use against you to make himself look better. These last couple of years, you and Namjoon have traded barbs every chance you got. Your hesitation was warranted.

“Or–not,” he says softly. “I’d completely understand if I was the last person you’d like to talk about this with.”

A soft sob escapes your lips. You wished you could call Jungkook and cry to him–he would go completely feral over what Yoongi had done but he wouldn’t judge you.

Namjoon’s hand hovers over your back–which was now hunched over and trembling from your whimpers.

And then he thinks, fuck it, and he finally drops it, his palm cupping your shoulder, rubbing it softly in consolation.

His touch felt comforting–it was as warm as Jungkook’s hugs and words of encouragement.

“He said that…that he and his ex decided to work things out after all,” you began, eyeing a teardrop’s stain on your pant leg.

“He somehow realized that maybe he wasn’t ready to jump into another relationship just yet. And that, uh…he was sorry that he led me on.”

Namjoon chewed at his bottom lip–trying to think of what to say to make you feel better. It was a horrid feeling and he wasn’t sure whether saying something would make things worse.

“I-I’m sorry to hear that, YN,” was all he could muster.

You sighed deeply. “You know, it really sucks when you find out that the people you’ve admired most of your life are actually huge letdowns in the grand scheme of things.”

“Or maybe I’m just not good enough for him,” you whispered.

Namjoon flinched and wanted so badly to negate that.

But you scoff and shake your thoughts away, becoming mildly aware of whom you were conversing with. “Uggghhhh,” you swipe aggressively at your eyes, trying to rid yourself of these tears. “I don’t know why I’m crying and simping over some guy whom I barely even know. I mean, it’s not like he promised me anything. I shouldn’t be this upset,” you said gruffly, defensively…trying to dismiss your feelings.

“You can try to rationalize all you want but because of your altered brain chemistry, your body can still produce an emotional response,” he says.

You glared at him, sniffling. “Is this your idea of comfort? What are you, a robot?”

He chuckled lightly at your slight annoyance. ”Look…I’m just saying…you’re not crazy for feeling hurt. Let’s just say that…I know the feeling very well.”

You eyed him carefully. “Well, damn! Who hurt you, Kim Namjoon?”

The laugh that rumbled out of him was deep and hearty but it had a tinge of ache to it.

Your eyes bulge out immediately. “Oh my…was it–the woman from the bar? When we went bowling?”

He smiled ruefully then nodded. “That was my ex–Mayumi. I hadn’t seen her in…two years? Needless to say, things between us didn’t end amicably back then.” He poked his tongue against his cheek.

“We had been together since our freshman year in college and she stuck with me until I finished my doctorate. She loved me and had a lot of patience. Until…she ran out of both those things and decided that she’d had enough.”

Suddenly, he felt like a kindred spirit. For the last couple of years, he was the one hold-out amongst senior staff. You’d gotten along with everyone–not like BFFs, but you at least got to know your colleagues enough to know about little bits of their personal lives that you could carry on a casual conversation like, asking about how their pet’s surgery went, did their partner finish that marathon they’d been training for, was their child able to get a spot at their top-choice preschool?

But Namjoon? You barely knew anything about the guy apart from where he got his doctorate from, who his undergrad mentor was, how many publications he had, his notable lectures and expert congressional testimonies. It was all surface-stuff–things you could read off his resume.

This same man–who equally knew the same amount of surface-stuff about you, took it upon himself to haul your drunk-ass back to your room, leaving a bottle of water and a couple of packets of ibuprofen–clearly purchased from the hotel front desk–to cure the raging headache that you were about to wake up to. He even had the forethought to place the trash bin close to the bed, in case you had to yak in the middle of the night. Thankfully, you did not–which was a miracle–despite the amount of alcohol that you consumed.

And now here he was, baring his soul and his own story about heartbreak to you. You’ve come a long way since that day he admonished and kicked you out of his office for overriding his authority.

“I’m sorry to hear that, Namjoon,” you said, returning his words of sympathy.

He clicked his teeth. “Ah, it’s all in the past. She’s clearly happier now. Definitely much more than I could have made her then. It is what it is.”

You cleared your throat. “By the way, I can’t thank you enough for what you did for me last night–or, I guess, this morning. Not my finest moment,” you said with a hint of embarrassment.

“It just felt like the right thing to do. And you don’t have to be embarrassed about it. We’ve all had–moments like those. We don’t have to revisit them,” he says. “I also want to thank you for returning my watch. Uhm–I’m pretty terrible when it comes to hanging on to my things and up until last night, I always managed to keep that watch close to me. I would have legitimately cried if I had lost it.”

“Pretty fancy watch,” you remarked. “W-was it a gift from her?”

He smiled warmly then shook his head. “It was a gift to myself. I bought it after I became Associate Director,” he says.

You made an ‘ah’ gesture with your mouth and nodded.

“It wasn’t cheap,” he chuckled guiltily. “But seeing as I had worked hard for it, I thought it would be a nice reminder of that.”

You smiled at him. “You don’t have to apologize for rewarding yourself, Namjoon. We all deserve nice things.”

He smiled back at you. “Well, while we’re both in a sharing mood, I wanted to tell you that I’ve been thinking about my behavior towards you these last couple of years.”

Your eyebrows quirk in curiosity. “Oh?”

“I realize that this is long overdue but I’d like to apologize for treating you unfairly. My emotions got the best of me at the time and they shouldn’t have. You didn’t deserve that. I know that now. Actually, I knew it then, too.”

It takes you completely by surprise. You’ve long held a grudge against him for blaming you for something that was out of your control. The ‘old’ you had half a mind to tell him to shove it–because why would he project his personal issues against you? He didn’t have the right. But things had shifted…and who were you to try and bite back at his sincerity?

“Well, it’s just like you said earlier. We can rationalize all we want but our bodies will always produce an emotional response,” you say to him.

He smiles softly, a hint of his dimple poking out of his cheek.

You realize that this is the longest conversation you’ve ever had with him–without trading insults or snark. So you take the opportunity to extend your own olive branch as well.

“Actually…I, too, would like to apologize, Namjoon. For being immature and petty. Anything I’ve said or done—was in reaction to what you were giving me. And unfortunately, as Jungkook can attest, it is not in my nature to back down from a fight. He even has scars on his face to prove it.”

He was quiet for a beat, eyes bulging out at your revelation–until you chuckle together.

“Well, anyway…That was wrong of me and I’m truly sorry for being unprofessional towards you. It goes against the principles that I’m trying to push out there.”

“Apology accepted,” he says softly then finishes with a small smile.

“Same,” you smiled back. “So…truce?” You hold your hand out to him.

Namjoon chuckles then clasps his hand with yours. “Truce.”

Unbeknownst to you, Taehyung stands behind from a distance, watching as you both shake hands. He chuckles to himself after witnessing your whole exchange.

Hello,

Yes, I absolutely do believe that Jungkook is one of the most tactile members of BTS. Now let me explain a little more what I mean by that. Because I think you are thinking in terms of cuddling, kissing on the others, randomly engulfing them in hugs or snuggling up to the other members. Yes, Jungkook does those things, but he doesn't *normally* initiate it. He does sometimes though and its always sweet to see! We see him initiate some cuddles and spooning with Jimin during In the Soop for example. We see him initiate some cuddles/hugs with Tae in Black Swan behind the scenes for another example. Or when he snuggled into Hobi during that one episode when they stayed overnight in that house (gif below, I can't remember what ep number it was). If I had to pick who were probably the more causal touchers and cuddlers of BTS were, id pick Hoseok, Taehyung and Jimin. (I did mention them as well when I was saying who is the most touchy in my previous post along with Jk) Our sunshine line, I love them. But Jungkook is VERY tactile. Let me explain.

Jungkook has said himself that he can get very anxious and shy sometimes. We can see this when he gets extra fidgety in situations he isn't able to totally relax in. For example, interviews or sometimes before/after big performances, or during award shows/red carpet moments. He seeks comfort from physical touch. We see him calm himself down by touching and/or messing with the member who is closest to him. And he tends to gravitate towards Jin, Hobi, Jimin and sometimes Tae during these tactile comfort moments. I think it has part of do with who he seeks comfort from and part of who is most accepting of touchiness and part of who happens to be standing or sitting next to him at that moment.

Thus also goes the other way. When Jungkook starts getting anxious or fidgety and the other members notice this, they will reach out and touch him. Rub him firmly or just leave their hand on him and you can see him visibly relax, calm down, re-center and refocus himself. He absolutely seeks comfort and is comforted by physical touch. He seeks it out and is pleased when he receives it. For example, i can't find the damn gif which is bull, but in the Run Episode where V finishes last and has to do the domino's, jikook stay and help him but Jungkook almost knocks over all the Dominos before they are ready. He tensed and laughed it off but you could tell he was worried about messing it up for Tae since it was his punishment/goal they were working on. Tae reached out and rubbed his thigh, basically in a "no worries, its all good, everything is okay" vibe and JK was able to relax more and laugh more and get back into it. I found the moment right before in a gif but not the actual thigh rub. I feel robbed honestly. They are so cute. Someone find that taekook gif for me please.

We also see it in the Run episode where the members were all running around trying to take pictures together in certain ways. It was chaos made even more chaotic when Jin turned out to be a spy (sorry, spoilers for those who haven't watched it yet!). JK was getting more and more anxious as he looked at his photos noticing Jin show up in basically all of them, waiting for his time to present. Everyone noticed his hysterical tantrum over it, but did you all see how he looked genuinely fidgety over it all. His leg was bouncing and nervous ticks were going off constantly as he sat in that chair waiting his turn. Until Jimin reached over and placed a hand on his knee and squeezed. You see his posture relax, his leg still and he calms down. We also see it in how all the boys will pet over his hair, let him mess with their hair, fingers, legs, arms, whatever he wants during these moments. He seeks out that connection with them, it helps ground him.

We also see that Jungkook has a habit of rubbing his chest when he is nervous or as a way to try and self soothe himself. You see it during his drunk vlive, you can see it when they were waiting for the Grammy announcement and when they lost, when he is struggling to accomplish something... and we see Jimin doing the same thing for him sometimes whenever he gets nervous, anxious or stressed. The most infamous time being during the New Jersey Vlive, but I think one of the sweetest was during the behind the scenes for the most recent Run episodes. Jungkook was very anxious about messing up during the celebrity name game they were playing and was very vocal about his anxieties. Suga reassured him that it was okay if he got it wrong, they didn't mind. And Jimin did the same, while reaching over and rubbing his chest for him a bit. Its sweet the way they all take care of each other.

And I won't even get INTO the subletly and intimatcy in Jikooks touches and how Jungkook melts into them every single time. Maybe that can be a different post one day. But basically, YES. I think Jungkook is a tactile person, yes I think he seeks out physical contact with his members when he needs it, not just the normal skinship stuff, but because it brings him peace and calmness when he is amped up.

Hello❤️ can you please share what you love best about jimin, jungkook (as individuals) and what you love about them as a duo/band mates/bffs/whatever they are?

YOU DARLING ANON! I really love this question, thank you for asking! Here we go:

I honestly had BTS pegged as another K-pop group that I wouldn't care about. I didn't really follow K-pop at all because for a long time a lot of the music that came out was extremely formulaic unless it was K-indie, or K-pop figures that wrote/produced their own songs or were strong performers, and even then I had mild interest. K-pop is fun, don't get me wrong, but that isn't enough for me to grow any attachment to the figures behind the music.

I decided to give BTS a try only because I found Jungkook attractive lol. I didn't know who any of the other members were, I didn't care, but I liked this guy. And I owe this tunnel vision credit to where I'm at now because when I wanted to learn more about Jungkook, I went down a huge rabbit hole into the kind of person he was (and the other members as a result).

I gravitate to 4D personalities and people who are generally goofy, even more so when they have a distinct duality between their onstage persona and who they are behind-the-scenes, which Jungkook nails to a T. Jungkook is extremely talented musically and very good at anything he puts his mind to, but my adoration for him is on who he is as a person. There's something about him, even as the maknae, that isn't the same as the typical maknae I was used to seeing in a K-pop boy group. There was often a deference to the leaders/hyungs of a boy group, but it seemed like there was a universal appreciation and genuine adoration among BTS members for Jungkook that was atypical. That was refreshing, and admittedly, warmed me up to him significantly. He's my ult for a reason.

After Jungkook, I paid a lot of attention to Jin and the Jinkook dynamic. I think they're funny. Their dynamic is my favorite in terms of making me laugh, and I think my interest in them started because YouTube started suggesting Jinkook videos to me, and that was all I saw. I was then really fond of Jin when I found out that he wasn't the leader like I expected him to be but took on this parental role that he was unaccustomed to in the beginning. I can't tell you enough how much that softens me.

Jimin was among the last members I noticed, to be honest. It wasn't because he was uninteresting, but I was really laser focused on Jungkook and Jinkook. I think the first time Jimin entered my periphery was because of a Jinminkook compilation, and I liked the way they bounced off one another. Together, they're just a chaotic mess, and as I mentioned earlier, there are certain personalities that I'm just drawn to instantaneously. But then I forgot, and Jinkook took the spotlight again.

Until I watched my first Jikook video:

I don't know why YouTube recommended this video to me, but this jumpstarted a lot of my interest in Jimin and Jikook. The video confused me a lot for someone without any context into the other members, especially the part that I linked to in the above video. Because from what I already knew about Jimin, he came off really soft-spoken, but here's this other side to himself that made me stop and think, Lolwat, what's with this guy?

Jimin's kind of like the turtle in the race where my fondness for him grew slow and steady. Compared to how some of the other members caught my attention, you wouldn't assume that he'd become a bias of mine.

I was watching Run! and Bon Voyage simultaneously as I was going neck-deep into YouTube, so that was helpful in learning more about Jimin on the side, and there's a gracefulness about him that I appreciate and how he upholds himself. But then, that one Run! episode where he was the spy? Are you kidding me? Hook, line, and sinker, baby. I started looking up videos on him, how different he becomes when he affects his Busan accent, how fragile and vulnerable he can be, and the internal struggles he had to go through (which I can only guess). And I don't know why this appeals to me so much, but it instills affection in me the way he doesn't seem to have a lot of coordination or self-preservation instincts (Jimin vs. the chair comes to mind), but on stage he has the most effortless control over his own body and manipulates himself in a way that resonates to people watching him, especially if you're into the art of dance.

Where Jungkook is powerful, hard-hitting, but can turn as soft as a boba ball one minute, Jimin is jagged and sharp but has this complexity in the way he presents himself--cute one minute, loud the next. It's safe to say that the way their personalities play against each other had some influence in my preference for the Jikook dynamic.

They possess a lot of the qualities I like as individuals, but when you see them together, it's really fun to watch. I still didn't really ship them when I came across the following video, but it was probably the first time I had to double back and wonder more about their interactions:

It took me a few months to get a feel for Jikook, especially because I don't like RPS. I never wanted to ship real people, and yet for some inexplicable reason, I often found myself going, That's weird and THAT'S weird, and so on, and I began to adopt the idea that it wouldn't be so far-fetched to think they'd be good together. I think my appreciation for Jikook happened organically; it was never something I intended, which I think also plays a little bit into why I like them so much. It's a bit like falling in love: you don't really know it's happening until you're in the thick of it, which is what happened with Jikook. It was a combination of a lot of things and nothing.

imma be sappy for a second... i think i’m both sad and happy to see runbts take a break. i remember that first episode of them all introducing themselves and we had both bts gayo and run at the same time. i honestly didn’t know when episodes were posted, i would just check vlive and go oH there’s another one!! and that turned into my weekly show since 2015. i remember in 2017 i used to sneakily watch runbts in physics class and try to pretend i was taking notes seriously while internally i was busting up. i remember when it switched from vlive to weverse and i was greatly confused on what this new platform was lol. and the past year or so, i had a lot of fun staying up until 4/5am to watch run live and gif it.

one thing i always loved about run was that they produce it, like they were mc’s for their own show and often bended the producer’s rules in bts style lol and it really showed who they were as people. they all tried out different roles and were able to step out of their comfort zones and i could see over the years how each of them got more and more comfortable being their chaotic selves. as they like to say, we got a lot of legendary moments from those 155 episodes and i’m sad we won’t get that content anymore, at least for a while. i’ll definitely be rewatching episodes both when i’m in a good mood and when i’m in a bad mood. runbts is that show that can really make anyone’s day a little brighter and i’m so so thankful for it. there were days i really just wanted to bury myself into a hole but i’d watch runbts and i couldn’t help but smile and laugh.

at the same time, they’ve run (haha...ha...) this show since 2015 even when they had ridiculously busy schedules. they worked really hard to film the content and i really gotta give props to the production crew for coming up with ideas for that many episodes. i hope all of them, the staff and bts, are able to rest with this break and come back almost like a fresh start. and we still have in the soop starting this week and award season is coming soon as well, so it doesn’t mean we won’t see bts or anything like that. it’s just bittersweet to see them say goodbye for now.

also nags you a lot, especially during your early debut days when you were still in school

he raised you very well since your debut with him and the boys and he just wants you to be happy

definitely favors you a lot more than the others and the bias is super obvious. he once bought you a shit ton of snacks for your birthday and the rest of the members were shocked af

this of course means you bicker a lot with him like jungkook, the two of you even sometimes team up to go against your hyung

but he also knows when you’re feeling down because his parent instincts kick in, he knows when you’re feeling down the dumps so he does something to cheer you up

whether it’s make you crack up with a stupid dad joke or buy your favorite drink, he’d do anything for his baby

definitely screams a lot when he’s with you too

overall he’s like an older brother to you and despite the bickering, he still luvs you so much

also let’s you mess around in his production studio, and maybe even lets you help him compose a few tracks

if you aren’t a rapper he probably teaches you some basics about rapping and later on becomes a proud dad when you show off in front of the other members

he also probably makes tae jealous too lmao, give the boy some love

if you’re upset or angry at the other members he’s one of two members that can calm you down, just because he’s really calm and knows how to handle your emotions

also definitely spoils you with snacks and drinks too

and he’s also the reason why you develop led your evil maknae side

back then you were so shy and pure but then he came into your life with his savage ways and sarcastic remarks. he rubbed off of you too much

this man loves his energetic drink and he will forever love someone who gets him that monstrous drink

you probably tried to give him monster energy at one point but he complained about the battery acid taste

LOVES spoiling you with gifts, try not to let him spoil you too much or the other members might get jealous

when you’re feeling under the weather he will be there in a flash to make sure you’re well enough and give you some chocolate to make you a bit happier

will shower you with love and affection at all times- especially on vlive cause he wants to make sure you’re loved

you remind him of a happy little puppy and he just thinks it’s the most adorable thing ever cause he likes animals

tae would also initiate skinship with you, though not as much as jimin, he prefers to just hug you and hold your hand

also if you’re a rapper he definitely asks you to teach him how to rap and sometimes it can be so chaotic

taehyung would be a really good friend to you and like a warm older brother

you and jungkook are the maknaes on top, even though there’s a one year difference

despite your close relationship, you two didn’t get along at first due to different views on certain things

but overtime your relationship mended and now the two of you are the closest friends can get

due to your young ages you use this to your advantage to get anything you want from the members

also, take your pranking with jimin and multiply that by a million cause hoo boy you two cause A LOT of chaos

skinship and platonic kisses for days off camera. he really loves you a lot and just prefers to show it off camera cause he’s a shy baby

you two probably had some dating rumors surrounding you, but at the end of the day nothing will change your guy’s amazing friendship
