Okay so the polls have determined I'm talking about LPS.

Tbh, I don't have a whole lot to talk about when it comes to my favorite little toys from the 2000s, especially since my collection is at home, but I do have a few things!

First is my favorites! Aka Creme (Angora Rabbit #2480) and Tytus! (Goat #1786). Creme I've had since I was a kid and was one of my first pets (along with the Rat #2481 she came with who I've since lost)

There's also my girl, Sydney Petrovsky. I was gonna replace her before she quickly grew on me

Her neck spring or something is broke so her head sinks down, making her a little short and 9 year old me painted her with black oil paint that smugged her original markings a bit. All in all, she's a little roughed up but I say that adds to her character.

An example of how she should look is Sara, the replacement I forgot I ordered, who, while damaged, is still in a little better condition than Sydney.

Asides from my favs... I guess I gave Garrett, the pet I brought with me to work. Since my apron has a pocket, I've been bringing one of my pets with me every shift.

Honestly, LPS was one of my main hyperfixations as a kid. One of my mains before discovering Undertale and I frequented LPStube as much as I could back then. (Though oddly I never got into LPS Popular and still haven't watched it). I remember watching Cookieswirlc a good amount before they started making non LPS content. As well as a lot of skits and music videos. My friends and I would even make up a couple ourselves (though we didn't really have the resources to upload them, we could still record on my mom's camera and stuff.)

Because of this, I have a few old LPS series concepts. They're not all that good because I was like, nine. But I think it'd be interesting to revisit them sometime. The first series I can remember was Peter and Piper. Since I had a double of Monkey #485 (Likely because I somehow got one from my girlfriend considering she has one Squirrel #484 which came in a playset with the monkey).

The "plot" (if you could really call it that) of the series would be that the protagonist, Peter, played by one of the monkeys, had the power to... genderbend. Piper being his girl counterpart (played by the other monkey). Could I have executed this idea with just one monkey, likely. Was it a cringe idea especially considering modern times? Yes.

The other characters was a G4 Wolf (#3806) and a G3 Guinea Pig (#3299) who I don't recall the original names of, but whom I've since dubbed Lisa and Harvey. I also remember Lisa had ice powers, causing Harvey to sing Let It Go to annoy her. There was also something with the school mascot (because of course it was set at a high school) being a hybrid of a bunch of animals including like a tiger and a bear and a dragon I think.

I'm not sure how to adapt it, asides from probably making Peter a magical girl or something? (Also probably trans as I like that better than the gender bending thing)

The second show i had even less for. It was called Twins and stared Creme (my favorite Angora Rabbit from above) and another Angora I had at some point, a pink one with striped ears, #2132. (I've since lost this pet. Might've traded it with a friend)

It was about an evil mirror dimension. As a kid, I used to believe mirrors were actually viewing portals into other dimensions and the inhabitants were opposites of us or something. A pretty common trope but I think nine year old Lorrie actually believed it.

Tbh, the concept of the 2nd one would work better with doubles compared to Peter and Piper, which might be possible with just one pet.

My mom always said I was born in the wrong era but I highly disagree with that sentiment, I love the modern amenities we have that allow us to connect and learn and live, I just want all the good stuff from other places in time as well because you don’t have to time travel to use historical ways. It’s history, it’s all there for us to chose from.

what I mean is, I wanna sit in a field with a little bowl of mosquito repellent incense, doodling on my iPad with the faint tinkling of my lead goat’s bell telling me that all is well, dog panting in the grassy shade. I wanna voice chat over Discord with my friends so far away physically yet I can sit and describe the sky to them and tell them about the antics of the newest kid and we can take pictures of our meals and compare.

And I can watch parkour videos and get a ride to the city to go to the tiny sushi shop that always gives me free fried vegetables, I can go to the college and barter some goat wool (angora goats are a must) for use of their looms and I’ll trade a woven scarf for a handmade mug from the pottery students.

And it doesn’t matter that I can only physically work six hours a day at my farm job, because there are modern tools there that make it so I can still get everything done, and on days when I can barely stand to feel my bones rubbing against my tendons, I can use plastic gloves thin enough that I can still be gentle on the new roots. And on my break I can weave flower crowns and darn socks and watch anime, because traditional methods of life don’t have to be separated from modern amenities!

i don't think i'd ever have the Strength to own one but theyre pretty neat! my dad's one friend had/has some i think i haven't been to his house since i was a kid. i do remember he had some goats though and they liked me a lot :) i would feed them n hang out in their area

Last Season on Faerune:

Lark was born not too far from the borders of Faerune. Her parents choosing to live out amongst nature, and only take trips into the city when they absolutely needed to. When she was seven she got lost out in the woods, and it was when she was trying to find them that she first crossed paths with Geal. The man was much taller than she was or anyone that she'd ever met before. It took a little reassuring from the tall man, but eventually she put some trust in him, enough to help her find her parents. The two faun were extremely grateful to him, even seeking him out the next time they were in town to give him something as a thank you.

The next few years Lark continued to spend out in the Feywilds with her parents, sometimes wandering into Cade's garden and munching on some of the plants he'd planted. When she was ten she became separated from her parents again, and once again her path crossed with Geal's. Only this time he wasn't able to find her parents. Not wanting her to be out in the wilds all alone Geal took her home. He filed a missing persons report, but as the days turned into weeks it seemed that they were nowhere to be found.

From then on Lark grew up under the love and care of Geal and Sidhe, or as Lark calls her Mama Buttons. When she was in her late 20s she moved back to the feywild, having missed the place she knew as a kid. Of course she'd been able to visit, but it wasn't the same. She did make sure to stay close enough that she could visit her mom and dad and friends and they could do the same.

This Season on Faerune:

When the dome came up to enclose Faerune inside of it, it left Lark's home on the other side. Luckily, Lark is still able to come into town, even if all the people she knows can no longer come visit her. She doesn't agree with the Unseelie queen, believing it isn't fair that everyone can't enjoy the beauty of the Feywilds anymore. She took up a job at the local candy shop in hopes that maybe she could see some of the people she's close to more, and even meet new people.

Human Nature and My Own Pitfalls: Too Many Things on my Mind

When I was a kid, I wasn´t exactly the nurturing type. As a kid, I hit dogs and poked a duck´s egg and chased goats and killed mice with a bat once. I tried keeping worms in my sand box to save them from the rain, but they all dried up and died. I have helped care for every group of animals, but many of the pets that I had as a kid that were under my sole responsibility didn´t last more than a few months (amphibians, a rat, a hamster, one of my ferrets, the other ferret managed to last at least a year that was my last pet for years and I would still have nightmare years afterwards). I can be incredibly neglectful (my dad once joked that I was a pet killer or something, he didn´t understand why I would find that joke upsetting). It is ironic. I have been raised around animals my whole life. My mom had a home birth and I helped raise my siblings. Yet there is a hole of neglect, even towards myself, that I can´t explain. Something is missing. I feel like that cougar that would abandon her cubs in a den to leave to die. Maybe I can´t really claim that, I have never tried having kids. But, I don´t know if I can even claim enough care to have a normal relationship, in every one I was called cold. But I am not always cold. I have been called sweet, have tried looking after my mom with multiple health issues and remind her to drink her teas. I can be caring. Then what is missing, why do things fall to ashes that I touch? Why was I that kid that didn´t cradle their dolls, but abused dolls and stuffed animals (maybe cuteness aggression was too literal for me, or maybe I was also partially influenced with growing up with a younger brother who also beat toys up). I feel like I am evolutionarily defunct, yet wise enough to try to distance myself to minimize my impact. That´s why I hate it when people talk down to me as if I was born yesterday and have never been exposed to concepts of biology. I´ve helped a goat give birth when I was 7-years-old. I know enough, just enough to know it's not something I feel safe messing with.

Care is a multifaceted word, so I highlighted the definitions in green what I can feel, and in red what I tend to struggle with. I don´t think it is solely a skill issue. I just don´t have a consistent motivation to fulfill the needs of living beings, barely even myself, just enough.

I don´t know, I guess that is what I find comforting about learning about animal behavior, because I notice a lot of animal activists and ¨animal lovers¨ take this paternalistic attitude of the the caregivers of the poor hapless innocent animals, who should all live a long, happy, carefree life. And honestly, that annoys the shit out of me. If you can´t handle seeing animal death and suffering, maybe a field with animals isn´t for you. They piss and shit and die and have sex. Nature is truly disgusting. And sometimes I wonder why I still pursue the field, but it is refreshing, I suppose, to see that animals are imperfect and we can still value and have respect for them.

¨Bones¨ was a song I listened on repeat back when I thought about interning at a coroner´s office. It didn´t work out, but I got to do a job shadow, and the whole opportunity got me thinking about death more. As a kid, I was very scared of death, and besides my pets or other small animals, mostly sheltered from it. I had ideas on how I thought death would affect me. It´s funny when those ideas are tested. When I was 23 years old, my grandpa died. When I heard the news, this was the first person that I had known most of my life that had passed away. I don´t remember ever feeling grief. Relief, maybe even. When I lived on my mom´s homestead. Death was immediately apparent. Her two angora rabbits died. There was this injured pullet that we named Gimpy Hobblefoot that died after a super cell storm when the other pullets smothered her. I was too distraught as I was digging a hole to bury her. Other chickens died and it got easier to accept. Once, I had helped slaughter two roosters, I was anxious beforehand, but it was like once I got into a ¨mode¨ I was just focused on getting it done rather than allowing myself to process any emotions that could be associated with it. Back at the coroner´s office, I had a chance to observe an autopsy. I was anxious at first because I had never seen a dead person before, but even after seeing a human gutted inside out I didn´t feel anything. And I wondered, do we all overestimate how much seeing death would affect us, or am I learning something about my nature specifically that I had never known before? I don´t know.

We have all these rules about how we should react and what we should be and what is allowed and not allowed to exist in the world. But nature, even human nature, is not particularly good at adjusting to that. I am trying, to some degree anyway, to live my values and make the safest choices I think I can make in most given situations. I am trying to not have too much of a bad impact on the world (even if I am a bit lazy sometimes, or a mischievous streak hits me). I kind of wonder if we judged chimpanzees by the same moral standards as humans, if people would be just as motivated as they are now to save their species.

On a different note, hearing about my early childhood behavior, I wonder what the heck happened? I was supposedly a very angry toddler. Which is normal in abstract, but the degree in which my family members talk about it doesn't sound normal. Like throwing my mom´s dog on the ground when I was mad at her, or giving my dad a black eye with a puzzle piece board, or apparently gave my baby brother a scar on his face, or would go into rages growling, biting and kicking. But from what my mom described, it wasn´t something that was easily soothed, not knowing what else to do they would lock me in my room until I calmed down. Apparently I mostly did activities by myself and wasn´t much of a cuddler. My dad thinks I had delayed speech, my mom says my speech milestones were normal, I just didn´t speak much. Most of these behaviors were grown out of, so I don´t know if it was situation or developmental stage specific.

I have a younger sibling that would go into primal rages, and I would often be the target for it. I think that is how I learned not to fight ( I was more of a flight-er than a fighter), because they were smaller than me, and once my mom tried getting me to restrain them and I accidentally gave them a bloody nose and I didn´t like that. It´s funny now thinking back on it, because their anger (and more rarely my own) just seemed like animal behavior, like ¨seeing red¨. I remember when they were 12, they picked up a huge branch (or small tree?) like a club and chased me, they swung it and it hit a tree breaking it. Although they calmed down somewhat in recent years, they grew up to having anti-social characteristics. And it get´s me to think about my other family members. My mom would also get in rages as a kid/teen and would fight (and win) with her brothers (who grew to be over six foot) and at school. The more shocking stories was when my mom told me once she lit a match and dropped it on a guy´s pants trying to light it on fire, another time (same guy?) she tried pushing a guy into oncoming traffic. I guess he was her friend´s abuser. She calmed down as she got older as well.

Been thinking about farmer James a lot. Idk if the man would keep sheep but there are some species of goats that you can shear and get some really nice yarn from or angora rabbits! basically the idea of you shearing and then spinning yarn from his livestock and then taking the time to knit him like a hat or socks or even a sweater and he just!!! “I am never taking it off!!!!” And he wears whatever it is until there’s holes in it and pouts when you have to take it to darn them closed and when the summer rolls around you’re like “Baby, darling, dearest you are going to get heatstroke” and he has to relent but he’s still so stubborn because he is so proud to have something his loving partner made and that he also contributed to with his beloved animals makes him feel all warm and tingly and unbelievably loved. He’d also be like a kid when you have a new project on the go just “is that for me? can I try it on yet? Are you almost done?” And damn if you don’t drop a stitch because he keeps sneaking in to kiss your neck and face and mouth and getting you distracted.

so you stay up all night and make earmuffs for her :,)) when he sees what you made he gets SO excited!! “Oh my god, baby, you made her a this?? It’s perfect!”

he leads you out to the pasture to put it on her, and when he sees her in it he smiles so big and says “Well don’t you look adorable, little lady?” With a gentle pat to her side “gonna stay nice and toasty too.”
