I’ve said this before, but I always found stories that frame heaven as “evil” and hell as “good” (or less bad) to be genuinely boring. I like more nuanced approaches to each realm.

I understand that for a lot of people, Christianity is a religion they like to criticize and mock, but I feel like if you don’t even understand the fundamentals of the religion, why even attempt to critique it?

i know that husk is canonically pansexual (which is so good and i have many thoughts) but i think it would be so funny if husk has never really been into dudes substantially. maybe a hookup here and there, but never a longlasting relationship, and if he was looking for that, he assumes he would be into someone pretty chill and lowkey, low maintenance, someone he can chill with and it’s just easy and stuff. what he’s not expecting is to fall in love with a loud, in-your-face, prissy twink with expensive taste (and expensive habits)

Imagine being the youngest patron in the Hazbin Hotel

I needed to get out my idea because the Hazbin Hotel fixation is starting. I have my issues with the show, but so far, I've enjoyed it! I'm considered the baby in my friend group, which stemmed these headcanons in the first place. Anyway, I let me know your thoughts about this post!

Hazbin Hotel x Reader (platonic)

You were banished to hell in somewhat recent years, so you’re considered the baby of the group. You’re not treated like a child, per se, but the guys frequently tease you about it. Husk calls you ‘kid’ to piss you off, as does Angel. You’re certain they only know you by that nickname and not your actual name.

No one understands the references you make, whether it be from a meme or films. You consider it really unfortunate when they look at you weird or if Charlie awkwardly laughs at your comment. Charlie humors you with your references, but she still doesn’t understand your slang.

You like to spread some harmless mischief in the hotel when you’re bored. You have added googly eyes to the booze in Husk’s bar, which he didn’t think was funny. At least Angel found it humorous and Charlie kept you from Husk’s wrath when he realized it was your doing.

You like to play with Keekee when you have time to spare. You balled up a piece of paper and throw it for her to chase. You made the poor choice of getting catnip for her. You didn’t think Husk would react to the plant as well. He threatened you to keep his secret. Because you value your limbs intact, you didn’t spread that information around.

You force the group for a movie night, which doesn’t involve sex-related films (much to Angel’s dismay). You pick out a movie you think mostly everyone will enjoy. Charlie and Nifty are usually the most excited to watch the one you picked. You find the film hard to enjoy because Angel and Pentious are relentlessly commenting about the scenes. No amount of shushing from Vaggie will stop their annoying chatter. There is a silver lining though because you watch movies with the girls every so often without their presence to ruin the film.

So, I finally watched all 4 episodes of Hazbin Hotel and I'm gonna share my opinion on why Husk is NOT an asshole for what he said to Angel.

And you guys WILL listen to my perspective as a man who has been sexually assaulted 3 times and relates to Angel heavily in terms of coping, trauma etc etc.

Let's start with obvious things. Did Husk call Angel a whiny power bottom piss baby? Yeah he did. But most of you are not seeing WHY he said that.

A shit ton of people who have been raped in the past turn to sexualizing themselves as a coping mechanism. They act "slutty", turn to dangerous behaviors and addictions to get back control of their bodies that they were stripped of when they were abused. Which is also what Angel does. He can't act how he feels so he doesn't have to actually accept what happened to him, he hides in his fantasies where he is nothing but a toy, where it was his decision to be used wherever Valentino wants to.

He did, in fact, need something as strong as the words Husk said to break free of trying to be the person he is not. If Husk never approached him, never came to that bar, Angel would get drugged, raped, then he would go back to the hotel and cry himself to sleep, so the cycle would continue. And he would never ever complain, because he chose to just act like he wants it.

He didn't just call Angel a crybaby.

Instead, he showed Angel that it's fine if he sucks - everybody does to some degree. But it's fine if he does. He doesn't have to be perfect, he doesn't have to hide in his little world where nothing bad happens to him. He can be himself, and he also has a community that will support and love him, no matter what happens to him.

And Angel accepts this. He can finally start healing after years upon years of sexual abuse.

This episode is so fucking powerful. As a rape victim, I didn't see Husk shit-talking him for the entire song. I saw that I, like Angel, have a community. That I can be happy even if I don't act sexually. That I can accept and move on. Open your fucking eyes.

Losing this thought as I type it but like, Spike is a fixer-upper in the "this old house" kind of way rather than a plastic surgery "fixing God's mistakes" kind of way. (?)

Like he wasn't all wrong from the start but boy was he made to feel that way. So he let himself be renovated. By Dru, by Angel, by the society he escaped from. All that paint over his woodwork.

And I don't think Buffy ment to do a restoration of Spike. I think it was more she saw a corner of the ugly paint job peeling and just couldn't resist picking at it like a scab. And before you know it we have a "honey? Did you know there's wood floor under all this?"

i am so obsessed with the idea of husk having to get sloppy drunk for the first time in a hot minute to confront that he has feelings for angel, yet angel stays sober for the same damn thing. can you imagine having Sober Clarity for the first time in ages and suddenly the guy you’re into gets drunk off his ass, confesses he might be in love with you, and falls asleep at the bar right then and there. what is angel supposed to do with that. how does angel respond to that. i think it’s so fucking funny.

but while it’s funny, it’s also the thing that angel wasn’t expecting, and that leads to angel helping husk into bed and takjng care of his hangover the next morning. he refuses to talk about it until husk is functioning properly, which is relatively out of character, but angel cares so much about doing this right.

husk half expects the confession to go “i like you” “i like you too” “drunk sex?” “yes” which is why he’s nervous and therefore gets drunk drunk, and maybe that’s how it would have gone in the past, but angel realizes he wants this to be real so he’s taking the lead and having a real conversation for the first time ever. he’s the one who says, “okay, you wanna do this? then we have to talk.”

so, they talk. angel confesses that he has the same feelings for husk, and they discuss the options for a relationship- because let’s be real, hell isn’t exactly the best place to fall in love even on a good day, let alone with their respective “someone owns my soul” situations. i think that angel and husk having to sit down and create a plan of action for navigating both a relationship and sobriety is so lovely- what happens when someone relapses, how to handle mood swings, etc etc. they love each other. they’re being intentionally communicative. they want to see this through.

it’s not easy, and they have aren’t perfect, but they’re trying, and that’s what matters.
