TSS 22 - The Sweet Song of a Proposal
It's here- my fic for @officialtolkiensecretsanta. This was me as a gift to @melkors-big-tits and I hope you enjoy it!
It's a bit different than my usual Angbang content- but honestly, it was fun to shake up my usual routine.
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Gothmog/Melkor/Mairon
Word Count: 5353
Melkor is tasting the string of defeat on his tongue and withdrawing from everyone, causing rumours and worries to spread through their halls. Mairon, of course, can't stand by and let those feelings spread. Luckily- and of course- he has a plan. What better way to stir the darkness of the Vala than to show him how much his men desire him? And who would be better to show Melkor that desire than a certain Balrog that he's expressed a desire for?

This is going to be the world’s least sexy Angbang here we go
How did they meet? Once upon a time there was a sexy Vala, and Mai thirsted a little too hard.
Who flirted with who first? They don’t flirt they kill people
Was it love at first sight or a slowburn romance? They saw eachother and it was over
Did they start dating right away or were they friends before things became romantic? Mai instantly signed a job contract
What was their first date? Falling the lamps of Almaren
What are their favourite things to do on date nights? Making everyone else miserable
Do they still go on dates after being together for a while? They torture elves all the time
What is their love language? Torture
Who kissed who first? They do not kiss
Who started the relationship? Melko offered Mai the job
Monogamy or Polyamory? HIS MAIA
Are they/do they plan on getting married? Mai gets to live after Arda is destroyed surely that counts as marriage
Who proposed? Was it a yes or no? See above (Melkor)
Do they want kids? Who brought it up first? They should NOT have kids ever
Do they already have kids, together or from previous relationships? Mai has his wolves and Melko has dragons
Do they have any routines/rituals in their relationship? Elf torture
How do they take care of each other when they are sick/hurt? Complaining a Lot (especially from Melkor)
How do they like to spend time together? Ideally ruling the world but alas
What are their favourite non-sexual forms of intimacy? Torture.
What are some of their favourite things about their partner? Melko thinks Mai is competent.
How do they comfort the other when they are upset? Telling the other to get over it
Who buys the other spontaneous gifts? Melko sometimes surprises Mai with a compliment
What position do they sleep in? None, they don’t sleep
Do they bathe/shower together? No <3
Do they do anything else in the bath/shower other than wash? Melkor likes to daydream about taking over the world
In the bedroom - Vanilla, a little spice, or kinky af? Their kinks involve vivisection

For applicable ships - who is more dominant/submissive? Melko is dominant but only because he is the most powerful being in existence
What is their favourite sex position? The one where Mai is on the bed and Melko ominously looms over him with a terrible grin on his face

Favourite place to have sex? Everywhere
Most adventurous place they’ve had sex? Well they haven’t had sex yet but ideally on the throne
How often do they fight? What about? Usually about Melkor’s questionable decisions but the argument never lasts long for obvious reasons
Have they ever broken up? Mai threatens to quit every two months but everyone knows he won’t actually do it
Messy breakup, amicable split, remain friends, ride or die or til death do us part? Til he kills Mai which hopefully will not be happening any time soon

How often do you write?
. . . it depends. During the semester? Not enough, because of grad school workload. During the summer - eyyyyy, this will be my first “lighter” summer in a while, so I’m excited to see!
Do you have a routine for writing?
. . . forcing myself to sit down and log off tumblr really helps, but I don’t usually have much of a routine beyond the sitting down part. That being said! There are days when I can tell I’ll get a lot of writing done if I can make it to the sitting down part, and days where n o t h i n g happens no matter what I do.
What are your favorite kinks/tropes/pairings?
Oh gods. Hmmm. “all of them” isn’t quite accurate but it is pretty damn close, so - “almost all of them”? With particular favs being:
Kinks: communication in relationships, dear god. . . and lord/vassal dynamics is good, and beyond that i’ll read almost anything once
Tropes: enemies to friends to lovers, friends to lovers, fake/pretend relationship, pining
Pairings: Findrahil, Silvergifting, Angbang, Russingon, Beleg/Turin, Glorfindel/Erestor, Gil-Galad/Elrond/Celebrian, Tuor/Idril/Voronwe, Finrod/Beor, Legolas/Gimli, Crowley/Aziraphale, Arthur/Eames, Matt/Foggy, Charles/Erik, and I’m sure I’ll remember more as soon as I post this. . .
Do you have a favorite fic of yours?
Ermehgerd. . . I’m still really proud of “Of the King of the Alders.” Umm, and, it indirectly led to amazing things IRL too so it will probably always be my favorite now. Otherwise, “Istan Quete” helped me get through a really tough time, and when I get back to it, I have also enjoyed writing “save all his ashes for me.”
Your fic with the most kudos?
. . . wow, it’s “Istan Quete”.
Anything you don’t like about your writing?
Most if not all of my fics tend to be characterized by POV, and sometimes I think that the writing gets too internalized. On that note, I’m not sure I’ve ever written a completely third-person-omniscient fic.
Now something you do like?
. . . umm, I guess I like how I’m able to show that there are details to the story or the world that the POV character doesn’t realize the full importance of.

4. What fandom’s/ship’s fan fiction do you read the most?
I read almost exclusively silm fic. Angbang is definitely my top ship (shocking, I know), followed by russingon
18. Do you have a fic reading/writing routine?
Fic reading routine is pretty much: can anyone see over my shoulder? no? good, proceed.
Fic writing routine is basically: write something. hate it. hate self. despair. reread. decide it’s not so bad. edit. decide it’s actually pretty good. copy. edit again, ad infinitum. copy/paste to ao3. existential crisis (pls allow at least 1 hr). post. try to contain amazement at response and be extraordinarily grateful people on the internet are so nice.
19. What’s your favorite character headcanon?
Oh man, that’s such a hard one. Maybe that Annatar went to eregion with plans to destroy it and briefly reconsidered after developing feelings for celebrimbor, and then deciding to destroy it (and tyelpe) extra hard after being rejected

3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
I’ve not followed people because of the amount of Maedhros or Fëanorians in general they had on their blog, and yes, did unfollow Silm fandom people because of it (not many). Won’t call out who.
In a similar vein, I started listening to a podcast but immediately stopped and deleted that podcast because the main host proudly admitted to being one of those people that called in to vote for Jason Todd’s death back in the 80s. That is an insta-unfollow for me, like unironically thinking Fëanor was right to steal the Swanships (or anything else)
4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*
Oh, let me make a hand-motion over my mouth. Okay. Fingon/Maedhros -the most popular OTP in the Silm fandom- only escapes from being a NoTP from me because I low-key despise both of them (yes, both). Most of the other non-canon m/m slash ships I tend to not care about but also don’t care enough about the characters to care, i.e. Angbang, Silverfisting. Haleth/Caranthir is popular and is a NoTP.
Batfam I don’t ship Dickbabs, and it’s nearly inescapable in general Batfam focused fics. It’s a rare but precious to me fic that goes with Dickkory instead. Aside from that, I hate SuperWonder, but also SuperBats and WonderBat. All three are popular, but only Superman/WonderWoman is not as popular and gets routinely and rightfully hated by the larger fandom.
