I chose these songs specifically for the slow tempos they interpret and the meaning of the words in each song is telling a story that could be related.  I feel like the theme of my playlist is full of emotions and harmony. These songs I grew up listening to, other than the newer ones, of course, give me a nostalgic feeling and make me feel at peace because of the storylines and the slow tempos. I am more of a listener rather than a hearer when it comes to these types of songs because I feel obligated to know what they are saying to relate to and enjoy their story which is either real or made up.
I will be describing each song to relate to my theme: Slow, emotion, passion, and mood.
Just the Two of Us by Bill Withers and Grover Washington: The genre is smooth jazz with R&B background for the twist. I perceive the purpose of this song is to express intimacy between two loved ones. The melody of this piece is soft, musical, and melodic. The tempo is a good mixture of slowness and a little bit of speed when the saxophone part hits. The song is played around 96 beats per minute. “Just the two of us.......We can make it if we try” is telling the listener if they both try, they will be able to make it, making it sentimental.
Mockingbird- Eminem: This song has an interest in the theme I chose because of the care and love he has for his daughter; sentimental/moody. The tempo of this song is 83 beats per minute. "If that bird don't sing and the ring don't shine." These interests the senses of sight and sound. He explains in this piece even though he is not there now for his daughter and “other” daughter by pursuing his dreams. He will be there. “Wow, I guess you pretty much are  And daddy's still here  Lainie I'm talking to you too  Daddy's still here  I like the sound of that, yeah  It's got a ring to it, don't it?  Shhh, mama's only gone for the moment” Explaining he will be there for them once he makes enough money and fame to be able to care for them properly. The structure of the song is repetitive repeating verses three to five times before changing to a new verse.
Easy on me- Adele:
This song has a slow tempo with a hint of speed when it comes to the parts of emotions rushing through. This song is about her divorce and how things took a toll on her since she did have the right kind of love in her life growing up. So, taking it easy will help her heal in a healthier way rather than doing what she knows from experience. This song is written with a major F key with a slow 70 beats per minute.
Put your head on my shoulders Paul Anka: This song has an interest in my theme of mood, emotion, and intimacy. The tempo is 116 beats per minute. The consonance of this song is “You and I will fall in love (you and I will fall in love)” is comfortable (to the one he wrote the song for, of course). The structure of the song is 2-note chord harmonies played in the higher registers of the guitar through an amplifier equipped with a tremolo.  This song was written because he has not heard of a song about putting your head on someone's shoulder; showing compassion and a listening ear for those who need it.
Devil Eyes- Hippie Sabotage: This song has interest in my theme of emotion and how he was falling for a girl (intimacy) and mood. The tempo of this piece is 99 beats per minute, with a C♯/D♭ key and a minor mode. It has low energy and is not very danceable with a time signature of 5 beats per bar.
House that built me- Miranda Lambert: This song has an interest in my theme of emotion, sadness, and mood. The tempo of this piece is 81 beats per minute with F key and major made. This song is about childhood and how she grew up. It communicates emotions through the lyrics and the instrumental.
