I know it would probably be a logistical nightmare to also make this accessible to the actual people represented, but I think it would be cool to have a game where the whole point is that every character has different limitations, that make it impossible or at least incredibly difficult to get past the whole game without switching them every once in a while, and the way you switch is by going to another character and asking their help with something.
Like you start out the game with one character and go "oh huh, the colour sceme of this game is really cool, really interesting use of such a limited palette", play through the puzzles for a while, and then encounter something where you're supposed to arrange some slightly differently coloured puzzle pieces to the right order by shade or something, and it's goddamn impossible. No matter how many methods you try, it's just not clicking, no matter how logical your solutions seem, no matter how clearly they can't be arranged in any other way that'd make more sense.
And maybe you go online to ask people "hey I'm stuck in the colour puzzle, what the hell am I supposed to do to get past this?" and someone tells you to go find one of the other playable characters and ask for their help. Which sounds patronising and stupid but you're stuck so you might as well give it a try. You go to one of the other characters, choosing the dialogue option to go "hey I need a hand with something, I can't do this on my own", and when they go "sure, let's go", your controls now switch to the other character.
And the colour scheme switches immediately. The aesthetic limited palette has changed to a far wider range, there's details in the environment that you hadn't noticed, like the muted faint flowers on the ground are actually bright red, the greyish shirt that your first character was wearing is actually striped with orange and green. The first POV character is colourblind, this whole time you haven't been able to perceive the difference between green and red. Solving the colour arranging puzzle with the other character is a breeze.
And this is the repeating theme of the game - every character has their own limitations, and while none of the puzzles are easy, you learn to think "maybe I should ask someone to help me with this" whenever you've been stuck for an unreasonable amount of time. You need to grab a buddy along for the quests, or you'll need to go back to get one eventually, and the way the game is structured somehow ensures that you can't just tactically dodge the limitation puzzles beforehand. Deaf character's POV doesn't have the audio clues that different pieces of the same puzzle make a different clicking sound, the puzzle with garbled numbers on it stops being garbled when you're not playing the character with dyscalculia.
You slowly get to know the whole cast, and occasionally help them out with things, too. You know which character could probably help with something you're stuck with, but while they'd be glad to come help, they're unfortunately stuck doing some task that could take you 20 minutes but is going to take them all afternoon, and you can offer help. Sometimes the helping-a-buddy-out minigames don't come with any direct transactional reward, you can just help a friend with something just because you can.
And the game's whole goal isn't to just illustrate how different people have different strengths, and sometimes things that are easy for you are hard for someone else, and vice versa, but to condition the player to think "maybe I should just ask someone to help, instead of wasting time struggling on my own."

This year's Slovenian representatives at Eurovision, the five-member band Joker Out, attracted an unusually large amount of attention with their accessibility and playfulness, especially with the song "Carpe Diem." In the days and weeks that followed, it became clear that their Eurovision entry, which only placed 21st, had indeed opened the door for them to go abroad. They started adding new concerts in Ireland, Croatia, the UK, Scotland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Serbia, and others to the ones they had already arranged in Slovenia and the former Yugoslav republics. They sold out all of them, some in just a few minutes. Well over eight thousand people will see them on the UK and Nordic tour alone. For musicians working in Slovene, that's an incredible statistic.
It's a remarkable milestone to see how they've come from "Špil liga," where they first came to the limelight by winning in 2013 when they were still a high school band, to today, being greeted by masses of enthusiastic fans below the stage, and being selected by the Scottish band Franz Ferdinand to be their opening act at Croatia's Špancirfest festival. We spoke to lead singer Bojan Cvjetićanin, guitarists Kris Guštin and Jan Peteh, and bassist Nace Jordan. Unfortunately, drummer Jure Maček was missing, but we could see that he is a man of many talents by looking at the huge wooden structure with a platform that added another floor to the band's rehearsal space in Šiška, Ljubljana.
After Eurovision, you made no secret of your disappointment at finishing 21st, but your Eurovision song "Carpe Diem," sung in Slovenian, is now one of the most listened-to songs of this year's Eurovision event. It's being played all over Europe, most notably in Finland, Poland, the UK, the Netherlands, Spain... Did you expect this turn of events?
Bojan: The result we achieved at the Eurovision Song Contest was really not the greatest. Not even close. But, as you can see, in the end, it doesn't even matter. What is more important for us is that we managed to achieve the rest of the goals we had set for ourselves. We approached Eurovision in a very organic way, aiming to translate our stage and concert experience from real life to the Eurovision stage. It was clear to us that this is the biggest show stage in Europe, maybe even in the world. We were aware that this is a competition of one song, one comprehensive performance to be presented in three minutes. Our goal was to ensure that the audience would remember Slovenia's performance in 2023, and we have achieved that. We also aimed to connect with other performers, and we succeeded in doing so. But most importantly, we wanted both our Eurovision song and our other songs to be well-received in the real world. The data from radio stations, online streaming platforms, and concert offers confirm that apparently, we have achieved that as well.
Before, you were known mainly in Slovenia, and to a lesser extent in the Balkans. However, your Eurovision song has temporarily climbed to the top 50 most viral songs in the world chart on the streaming platform Spotify. You even briefly surpassed Sweden's Loreen, the winner of this year's Eurovision, in terms of popularity.
Bojan: Just to clarify, we only surpassed her for a day or two. But it's really nice that it happened on Spotify's list of the most listened-to songs in the world.
Kris: Well, she did get a billboard in New York's Times Square as the winner at the time, so it's a matter of who surpassed whom, I suppose (gesturing with his hands).
Well, who did?
Bojan: I believe that what we will gain from this performance will surpass what many other performers will achieve. Eurovision has introduced us to a very large audience in a very short time, and they have really connected with our music. They are now translating our lyrics into their own languages and even learning Slovenian. We were surprised to see how many of them bought dictionaries to learn Slovenian - we know this because we were asked to sign them. Others are learning Slovenian through online platforms, and there are even dictionaries being created on TikTok. These listeners are not bothered at all that we are not creating in English at this point; on the contrary, they would like us to keep it that way. However, we have to be realistic. To truly expand our listener base, it's important to be accessible to people.
That's why you have already prepared an album a few months ago, featuring songs from both your previous albums rearranged in English. The album is now awaiting release. One of your main goals was to be able to translate your concert experience onto the stage.
Bojan: The first real international test after Eurovision was in Zagreb, where we performed as the opening act for the most popular young Serbian band at the moment, "Buč Kesidi", at a previously arranged concert. We performed outdoors in the middle of the day, with the sun still high up in the sky. However, we were greeted by a crowd of 2,500 people and received a phenomenal response. They sang along with us, and later we read in the Serbian media that we probably have the most Croatian fans among Slovenian bands. After this show, when we announced a solo concert in Zagreb's Tvornica for November, which is comparable in size to Ljubljana's Cvetličarna, the tickets sold out in five hours. So, we arranged another concert in the same venue, and that one sold out as well. The response in Croatia has been truly amazing, and they have set a very high bar for the future.
You have been intentionally engaging with the countries of the former Yugoslavia lately. Through songs like "Demoni" ("Demons"), you have approached them language-wise. In addition to Croatia, you have also been booked for concerts in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Your Eurovision song also reminds me a little of Plavi orkestar, which was once the most popular Yugoslav pop band, or Đorđe Balašević. It is probably not a coincidence that the line "The game of hatred is your thing, thank you, don't count on us" is reminiscent of his hit "Računajte na nas" ("Count on us")?
Bojan: No, no, it's not a coincidence.
Is it nevertheless more difficult to plan a breakthrough to the rest of Europe? After Eurovision, the Irish were the first to sign you up, did the audience there also know your songs by heart?
Bojan: Yeah, we haven't really gotten used to that yet (laughs). In Ireland, we managed to sell out our first show in 12 minutes. It's true that it was a small venue, comparable to Ljubljana's Orto bar, and it wasn't a solo concert, but a joint performance with this year's Irish Eurovision representatives. However, due to the high level of interest, we arranged another concert in a club twice as big, which is also their most iconic venue. Soon after, other venues started to show interest. We announced a UK tour, with over five thousand tickets on sale for four shows in major cities, and they sold out. We announced a Nordic tour, with around 2,500 tickets available, and it sold out in half an hour, along with three Finnish concerts in just ten minutes. Later, we released an additional 770 tickets, which were gone in five minutes. Offers are also coming in from many other countries, and it is impossible to predict what will happen in the upcoming months.
A number of Slovenian music artists have successfully reached international audiences, from Senidah to Laibach, from Gramatik to Umek, and you were the first ones to consider using Eurovision as a springboard. Would it make sense for our country to continue using this event to promote established musicians who are eager to make an international breakthrough? You were internally selected for this competition.
Kris: It all depends on what we as a country want to achieve from this competition in the future. We have to decide whether EMA is a competition where we find the most suitable representative and expect them to make the most of their opportunity while promoting our country along the way, or whether it is a competition where Slovenian musicians present themselves to Slovenian audiences. Personally, I believe that it is definitely better to choose a performer who already has an established infrastructure in place and a certain support base, because this can enable him to use his potential to the fullest.
Jan: I think that would be the best approach as well. However, since many musicians see EMA as one of the few opportunities to showcase their work to a wide audience through public broadcasting, it would make sense to maintain that aspect too, perhaps as a prelude to EMA, transforming it into a grand finale for carefully selected artists, similar to Sanremo.
Bojan: The main issue with the previous selections was that Slovenia didn't approach it with the intention of winning. Of course, success in such a significant event is not guaranteed. But why not approach it strategically nonetheless? For example, I believe we should send Senidah to Eurovision in 2024!
Senidah is the biggest star in the Balkans, the most listened-to musician. Is she also your role model in that sense?
Bojan: Absolutely. Senidah is the first Slovenian artist, after Mr. Predin and "Lačni Franz", to truly break through in the Balkans. She does write music in Serbian, but that's irrelevant; what's important is that she's made a remarkable breakthrough in a market that has so far been very closed off to Slovenians. And not only has she broken through, but she is topping the charts. However, I would understand if Senidah refused to participate in EMA, at least as long as the current rules are in place. EMA is too close in time to Eurovision. The winner has only one month to submit material. Imagine having to put together the most important performance of your life in just 15 days? We, on the other hand, had more time since we were internally selected—three months—and we utilized this extra time to design our pre-Eurovision campaign, which ultimately played a key role in our success. That's what left the biggest impression.
Tumblr media
You managed to invest between ten and fifteen thousand euros of your own funds in this promotion. You have an extensive domestic touring career behind you. In October, you will fill our biggest venue, Stožice, for the first time, where you expect 12,000 people.
Kris: I've always considered it a privilege to have established a music career at such an early stage in our lives and to have quickly reached the point of financial self-sufficiency.
Bojan: It really worked out for us that right after we finished university, we began our professional lives as musicians.
Those who know you say that you are very disciplined, very organized. Bojan, your fellow classmates from Poljane Gymnasium in Ljubljana also say that even back then, you were absolutely convinced that you were going to make a breakthrough. Many people rolled their eyes at the thought, but you had a clear objective. You were networking with the right people, educating yourself, and Pavle Kavec taught you guitar...
Bojan: Yes, Pavle the legend. I knew during my time at Poljane Gymnasium that I wanted to be an artist. I hadn't fully decided whether it would be music or something else because I was also considering studying acting. But my thoughts were always centered around creating. I suppose that's more or less true for all of us. When Jure and Nace joined us, the first question was whether we were fully committed at 1000%, or if there was another one percent pulling us towards a "plan B," such as the directions we were trained in. No, there is no "Plan B" anymore. At some point, we made the decision to cut it off.
So, the high school students at Poljane Gymnasium may very well forget that you were once planning to be their sociology professor? We've also seen you in a few episodes of the series "Gospod profesor" ("Mr. Professor").
Bojan: I've given up on the professorship, but I still find acting very interesting. For once in my life, I would like to be in a film, playing a totally negative character. I would be mean as a snake. And it doesn't even have to be a Slovenian film; it can be from the Balkans.
Kris: I have to admit that I never thought of making a living from music, although I certainly saw it as an ideal. Even when I was deciding on my studies, I wavered between sociology and chemistry, and then preferred the latter because of its greater potential for employability. Well, later on, I did go into social sciences, for a master's degree in international relations.
Yet Kris, you were the one who had the ideal conditions to become a musician. You grew up playing guitar, because your father, Miha Guštin - Gušti, is the co-founder of "Big Foot Mama", one of the most popular Slovenian bands. Today, you are considered to be their successors.
Kris: I really had the ideal conditions to become a musician who does this for a living. Not only because of my dad, but my mum also worked for record labels for many years and has recently embarked on this path again, so I've been in touch with both sides of the music world, creatively and business-wise, since I was a little kid. But I didn't really start playing guitar until I was 14, 15. And nobody else among us is a trained musician either, except our drummer, Jure Maček.
Bojan: Yes, our Maček finished elementary music school, and he also played a lot, mostly with the "Logatec brass band".
Jan: Let's not forget his performances with the "Golaž brass band", and with the Cantabile Symphony Orchestra...
Jan, you are a mathematician. The link between music and mathematics was explored by Pythagoras after he listened to a blacksmith striking a hammer, and from that he developed the study of harmony.
Jan: Yeah, at the moment it's kind of like, if you have an out-of-tune guitar, you can just say you have a Pythagorean tuning (everyone bursts out laughing). To me, maths is relevant because it's the only thing in the existence of human understanding that you can really count on. It can be used to get definitive answers to at least some questions. I see it as something that gives you structure in your life.
Nace: I would have chosen to study veterinary medicine if I had gone to university, but I discovered very quickly that music was my passion. After high school I went out into the world, I played in a band on a cruise ship that more or less sailed the Baltic, somewhere between Russia, Finland and Sweden. You could say I've got a lot of musical mileage from playing abroad. But it's limited to German schlager and German rock. Our audiences were mostly German families (laughs).
You also have the most experience of performing in front of TV cameras, especially as a member of the in-house band of the TV show "V petek zvečer" ("Friday Night"), which gives airtime to more folk-music genres on TV Slovenia. Have you scrapped this "plan B" now as well?
Nace: Officially, I'm still a member of that band; maybe the managers are expecting me to come back to the show in the autumn. But it remains to be seen whether that will be possible. Most probably not.
Today, together with MRFY, you are considered the successors of our most popular rock or pop-rock guitar bands who managed to appeal to the masses, not only of "Big Foot Mama", but also, for example, "Siddharta" and "Dan D". Why hasn't there been a real breakthrough of new bands of this kind in the last few years? Were guitars considered to be outdated, were young people closer to electronica, trap, hip-hop, mixtures of genres?
Bojan: The music of "Siddharta" and "Big Foot Mama" was a kind of basic building block for me from the very beginning. These people have influenced me more than any other world-renowned musicians. So having them support us really means a lot to me. And the Špil Liga, where student bands have been entering for the last decade, has definitely been a very strong factor in the revival of the scene. MRFY are also from Novo mesto, which is considered a mini Slovenian capital of rock'n'roll, as many of the bands that have developed under the patronage of Tokac, the music producer and frontman of "Dan D", originate from there. At the same time, in last few years the Slovenian youth has become hungry for home-produced music of all genres, and this has stirred up a strong wave of creativity, which is being held in the hands of our own generation, as well as those a little younger and older than us. At this point, the whole spectrum of what we need, from clothes to design to photography, is being created by people our age, as well as those a little younger and older than us. Well, with one exception, of course, being our producer Žare Pak, but he's young at heart.
Tumblr media
As you reach out to a wider audience, do you also feel the pressure to meet the ever-increasing expectations of both listeners and the music industry?
Jan: I feel that right now, more than ever, we can be confident and sure of what we are doing. We didn't even enter Eurovision with some deliberately made hit-like song to suit Eurovision ears, but we did a Joker Out song that could easily have been on our album last year. Our achievements so far prove that we are doing something right because people at home and abroad like it.
Kris: I also feel like we have more freedom to create now but also fewer inhibitions to go into more experimental waters in terms of music, outfits, visuals, or anything else.
Do you think that's what some people expect from you now?
Bojan: Musicians are often criticized for their style, genre, or sound. But such criticisms are absurd.
In particular, Slovenian rock or pop-rock has always been attacked in this respect for relying too often on tried-and-tested forms and less often, for example, on boldness, innovation.
Bojan: We've been on the scene long enough, and we know that the very concept of what Jokers do bothers some people. And that's why they keep pushing their idea that we don't make authentic music but rather some crap that we invented just to exist. So, they feel it would be good if we would stop doing that. These people want, or even demand, that Joker Out should stop being Joker Out. And we're happy that on the first and second album we were able to make music completely unburdened by expectations of how people would react to it. I think the second album is quite challenging in both its sonic elements and the overall meaning of the lyrics in certain songs. I'm sorry that not one of the critics mentioned "Plastika" ("Plastics") in their reviews. None of these intellectuals who have so much to say against our love songs thought that this could be a harbinger of a different, new direction.
This song was written in response to a study showing that the vast majority of teenage girls today want plastic surgery and other body modifications to meet their perverse beauty ideals.
Bojan: There's a lot of content that people don't want to see. On the other hand, I also don't understand why songs about love, which are in the vast majority in this culture at the moment, should be inferior to those about society. In fact, I hope to be able to sing about love for the rest of my life.
Kris: You will, you will sing "Umazane misli" ("Dirty Thoughts") for the rest of your life (laughs).
You addressed Europe with the words "We'll be dancing all night long, we'll love and play with each other as if there was no tomorrow." You have stated several times that you are not a political band, but isn't that actually very political? What is more political than being able to smile and rejoice even in the worst of situations?
Bojan: I very much agree. I even think that if Tokac had sung our song, the message would have gotten through to a lot more people. But because we sang it, a lot of people didn't take it seriously.
The current Prime Minister, Robert Golob, after learning that the future coalition had brought down the government of Janez Janša, said, "Today people are dancing, I am waiting for you to start dancing too." Do you think that if we had had your song then, he would have said instead, "We'll be dancing all night long"? As some employees of RTV Slovenia did when the depoliticisation of their institution could begin?
Bojan: The song "Carpe Diem" is largely written with the idea of fighting back against the things that are happening today. The fact that we had Eurovision in a country that was not last year's winner, because the event could not be held there due to the war, is quite an indication of the troubled times we live in. On the other hand, our only defense as musicians is to spread positive energy among the people and send socially relevant messages. We cannot do more than that. We do not want to take up arms, and we won't. Our only weapons can be our songs.
Culture and art can certainly be weapons too, especially in situations where people are suffering. Do you think that's why Ukrainians supported you at Eurovision, both the audience and the jury? The country is in ruins because of the war, people are displaced, and there is no end in sight to the conflict. But your dancing until dawn has been noticed.
Bojan: I am a child of refugees from Bosnia and Herzegovina. My parents had to leave their home in Banja Luka because of the war. They came to Slovenia as refugees and stayed here. They had to rebuild their lives. In light of today's events, I can only conclude that the saying 'Historia magistra vitae est' (“History is the teacher of life”) is clearly not true. Because one day, when all the problems of this world are solved, I too will be able to afford the attitude of being opposed to all that is positive. But at the moment, that is not a possibility.
Your parents, Bojan, had to move because of the war, and your mother, Kris, moved from the Netherlands to Slovenia for love.
Bojan: That's a much nicer reason, isn't it?
Kris: Well, I also have a grandfather who fled Indonesia because of the civil war.
Migration flows have been huge in recent years, with thousands of people pouring into Europe, but they are often met with contempt and harsh treatment. Do you feel that your intimate experience of all this migration has also shaped your attitude towards all those who are seeking a better life?
Kris: Absolutely. In my home, this has always been a topic we have talked about. When I was still living with my parents, we often watched the TV program "Dnevnik" together, and whenever they showed a piece on migration, my mother would get very emotionally involved in the scenes on the screen. And that sticks with you. When you see a parent who can understand someone who had to leave home for completely different reasons and on the other side of the world, it naturally rubs off on you.
Bojan: Most of all, you feel the spectrum of pain associated with having to leave your home is much more than just having to leave a place. Only then do you realize that home is really a tangle of space, of people, of smells, of tastes, of everything surrounding you. Leaving all that behind is not the easiest thing to do. It is even harder to leave under duress, and the hardest to leave knowing that your home is in the process of being destroyed and that when and if you return one day, it will not feel like home anymore. The same people will not be there, the same smells will not be there. What has shaped your life will no longer exist.
Tumblr media
Alongside wars and conflicts, another key reason why people from other parts of the world are moving to Europe in large numbers is climate change. Your generation is leading the fight to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, to live more sustainably. How important is this cause to you?
Kris: The fight for climate fairness is one of our few very clear common political positions. Here we are completely united and support all political choices towards sustainability. It is also very clear that this is an important issue not only for us but also for a large part of our audience. It was interesting to note that two years ago, at a rally for climate justice in Ljubljana, we saw a poster with the lyrics of one of our songs. We've summed up our own thoughts on the subject in the song "Novi val" ("New Wave)," which was written last year and is currently one of our most successful and important songs.
In that song, you say "The radio only plays lightnings and strikes', the newspaper says that we' ve lost our way. Today we'll sing and raise our glasses, we were born yesterday and have already been blamed for everything." And what are you guilty of? Probably not the fact that your generation faces precarious employment, that loans are hard to come by, and so are real estate, even rental properties?
Bojan: These are the facts of life lived by the "born yesterday" generation. They are the result of the accumulation of bad decisions over decades. These facts manifest themselves in reality as obstacles that reduce our ability to build the pillars of our independence and, as a consequence, are the reason for our failure to live up to societal expectations. In a world where laws have been written for decades in favor of a mega-massive littering of the planet, we are guilty of standing up for environmental justice instead of "doing something smarter and more serious with our lives," even though previous generations have themselves turned the (labour) market into a war zone of precarious employment. We fight day in and day out with the uncertainty of whether or not we will be employed tomorrow...
But even in this song, you sing and you raise your glasses.
Kris: This song and the Eurovision song "Carpe Diem" are actually very similar in spirit and message, except the second one addresses the listener in a dance guise and this one in a much more serious manner.
The song "Novi val" ("New Wave") has received a lot of attention because of the English version you released before the Eurovision, which you performed with the renowned British musician Elvis Costello. Your now ex-member Martin has a godfather who is a friend of Costello's, and in 2013 you sent him the song "Gola" ("Naked") to listen to. He did listen to it and suggested that you send him more songs. So last year you sent him "Novi val" ("New Wave").
Bojan: Yes, that was true, and when I sent him that song, I also asked him if he would be willing to re-arrange it in English. And he wrote back that he was up for it. Shortly after that, only about a week later, he sent me another email saying if we all agreed, he was ready to sing the song with us. Interestingly enough, he felt the song even before he understood what it was about. His first reaction after hearing the Slovenian version was that it was "a charming song that transcends the understanding of language". He recorded his vocals in New York, and we recorded them in Ljubljana. At the end of the song, we kept the chorus in Slovenian, at his request.
Costello has two Grammys, two Brit Awards, and was named one of the 100 greatest rock'n'roll musicians of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. What does his support mean to you?
Bojan: I can say without any reservation that even if I never wrote another song after this, I would forever be proud of what I have achieved. But it was this collaboration that gave us an indescribable amount of new energy to create. I am very proud of it. However, I must add that I felt the same pride when Tomi Meglič or Grega Skočir gave us words of encouragement. The moment when I first felt their sincere appreciation was a turning point for me, and since then I have existed quite differently as a musician. But of course, it is clear that Elvis Costello's encouraging words carry international weight. And that is something completely new for us. It's just a pity that we haven't been able to meet up yet because he was on tour in the US at the time of the recording of the song and later the video.
He will be touring Europe in the autumn, including Hamburg. You recorded the Eurovision song there in December.
Bojan: He honored us greatly then. He sent us the song "Hamburg Postcard", which he wrote especially for us.
Kris: Let's not forget something else. Our band has always described our music as "shagadelic rock'n'roll" (the Oxford English Dictionary defines shagadelic as "sexy, but in a psychedelic or retro way", A/N). We borrowed this term from "Austin Powers", but it was actually spoken by Elvis Costello, who played himself in that film. When we sent him our song "Gola" ("Naked") in 2019, we thought it would be a good idea to let him know that we also use the term "shagadelic rock'n'roll". And then he personally gave his permission to use it because he felt that that was what it was. To complete the circle, Elvis Costello is one of the original protagonists of the English New Wave, and we are now singing together about the New Wave. He is also from Liverpool, which hosted this year's Eurovision. Our collaboration was clearly written in the stars.
Costello, as a Liverpudlian, knew the most famous local musicians, The Beatles, very well and had worked with Paul McCartney. The Beatles are also among your role models, and this year you also visited the place where the Beatles began their musical journey for the first time. Do you now understand better why they remain the greatest?
Kris: For me, visiting Liverpool and the places that influenced the Beatles and their music gave me some perspective. We knew them through songs, like Penny Lane, for example, but in reality, it's much smaller and more 'plain' than we imagined. Liverpool is a beautiful city, but the suburbs where the Beatles lived are very ordinary working-class housing estates. One could say quite bland. Now I walk around Ljubljana with different eyes. I can imagine that one of our future songs could also feature an insignificant, less exposed street that made its mark on us...
Bojan: And this is where you can see very clearly why the Beatles are the Beatles. Because everybody has a Penny Lane in their life, an ordinary street where you meet a friend. Penny Lane is the most universal thing in the world
The English song "Novi val" ("New Wave") was covered by the BBC and ITV, and the British voted for you at Eurovision. Your music and performances have always been influenced by British pop. Is that one of the key places for you, besides the Balkans?
Bojan: I think our focus is on any place that is willing to accept us, but England has a special charm because we ourselves have been heavily influenced by British music. I'm not the ultimate "nomad," I dislike long flights and exotic destinations that can be unpredictable, so Europe is very dear to my heart. I would be very happy if we could establish ourselves as a European band that could travel a little bit around Scandinavia in the summer and then Dalmatia in the winter...
Kris: Or Spain, where we would eat tapas.
Is the interest in your band in the country also related to the fact that Bojan speaks Spanish?
Bojan: Yes, I ended up doing more interviews in Spanish than in English. The Spanish have also been very active because of our links with their Eurovision representative Blanca Paloma.
Kris: It's really amazing how you can charm a foreign audience by speaking their language. I understand it with the Spanish, as they are mostly less proficient in English, but I was surprised by the Dutch. Dutch is my mother tongue, of course, but I didn't expect that it would matter because in the last few years I have noticed that in Amsterdam, almost only English is spoken on the street. Even the oldest market vendor speaks perfect English. But they were very enthusiastic. On streaming platforms, the Netherlands is one of our top 10 countries.

You mentioned earlier that your fans are now learning Slovenian. What about your future - will it be written in English?
Bojan: The next album will almost certainly have songs in English, Slovenian, and Serbian, but it's very possible that there will also be some in French or Spanish.
What about Finnish? At Eurovision, the most talked-about thing was your friendship with the Finnish representative Käärijä, who came in second place. When you, Bojan, sang his song, he praised you, saying it was "better than the original".
Bojan: We haven't talked about a musical collaboration yet, but I was a guest at his concert in Helsinki in June, and we would be very happy to have him at our concerts. Unfortunately, that won't happen in Stožice because he has a big concert on the same day.
Now that it is clear that your international ambitions are growing exponentially, what is the ultimate goal where you would say, well, now we have made it?
Kris: Even before we had international ambitions on the level we have today, we often talked about how performing on the main stage of the Hungarian festival "Sziget" would be a testament to the fact that we have achieved something in our lives. Do you remember?
Bojan: How European of us, right? (laughs)
And - have they called you yet?
Jan: Not yet, but we are already learning Hungarian just in case (laughs).
Kris: And we were just wondering why we shouldn't just announce a concert at Wembley Stadium in London in 2030.
Bojan: Yeah, because if we started selling tickets now, we might even be able to sell them by then. (Everyone bursts out laughing because the stadium seats 90,000).

Rose Recaps 2023 - Thailand
Ok. Let me just get this out of the way. If there were awards for "started of great but forgot what it was about by the end" Thailand would win them all. No other country can touch them. So when I was going through my list of watched Thai Bls there weren't all that many to choose as favourites. but I'll try to be kind.
The one about family
Moonlight Chicken
Tumblr media
First and foremost this show is stunning. This really cannot be overstated. I really enjoyed all the different relationships represented here and that the idea of family is what you want it to be. I love all of them, and Wen did absolutely nothing wrong.
Favourite Moment This conversation left me in tears.
Tumblr media
The one hated by so many but not me
Dangerous Romance
Tumblr media
This was me whenever there was a new episode.
I'm not gonna say people were wrong. Everybody has the right to their own opinions. But I never expected anything else.
This show gave me exactly what I expected of it. They made a romantic version of the trailer for christ sake. The ost video that came out the day before the premiere was a love fest with the softest song sang by Chimon. I agree that the first 2 episodes were different and for some, misleading about the direction of the show.
Not for me though. I got what I wanted. Chimon and Perth on my screen being boyfriends with some drama sprinkled in for good measure. And with the amazing bonus that was Marc and Pawin together again and the character of Auto that I just adored. I actually enjoyed all the characters in this one.
Favourite Moment
Tumblr media
The one that is beautiful
I Feel You Linger In The Air
Tumblr media
The amount of screenshots I took while watching this would fill a hard drive. It's just gorgeous. The way they played with the spaces was just such a treat.
This show was almost perfect. I had a couple of issues with it midway through and I felt that they dragged the goodbye a tiny bit much but overall I really liked it. These two are very special but overall there were a lot of characters to root for and enough of them to hate, which I appreciate.
But also WHERE IS THE SPECIAL??? I need to watch it!
Favourite Moment
Tumblr media
The one that was I was ready to hate and then didn't
Be My Favourite
Tumblr media
Confession time. I didn't like Krist. Watching SOTUS was something I endured but didn't enjoy for the most part. I know I'm not alone in this. But also. I didn't like Fluke. In anything. He was the only thing I didn't like in Not Me, and I skipped most scenes of his couple during Dark Blue Kiss. No particular reason tho. I just didn't enjoy watching him. So the bar was set pretty low on this one for me.
And then what happened? I loved Kawi. Like immediately. And surprise surprise, I liked Fluke. Immediately. It's like I was on an alternate universe and I couldn't believe my eyes.
With that said, it was not even close to a perfect show. It started off really strong, I enjoy the way the relationship grew, I loved that the characters were being honest with each other and being mostly kind to one another. Some moments felt really grounded. And then it kinda fell apart for me. But this is a positive post so I'm not going there.
Favourite Moment: The whole montage.
Tumblr media
The one with the redemption of Mame
Wedding Plan
Tumblr media
I already explained what I went through with this show here prompted by this episode of @the-conversation-pod. You should all go listen to this and all the other episodes because both @bengiyo and @shortpplfedup are brilliant and funny in convenient audio format.
Anyway, in the end I loved this show so much and took me a minute to come to terms that it was actually that good. The characters are actually multidimensional and the woman have depth. Groundbreaking stuff.
Favourite Moment
Tumblr media
The one with all the cuteness
My School President
Tumblr media
Not gonna lie, not a huge fan of singing in my bl. But this was great. From the beginning the fact that it made constantly remember my beloved Love Sick was an unexpected and delightfull bonus. I was living for Tinn's expressions, Tiw just being delightfully loyal and the epitome of sharing one brain cell group of friends. Not to forget the parental relationships that were some of the best of the year. I even liked the singing.
Favourite Moment
Tumblr media
The extra one
Our Skyy 2 - A Tale of a Thousand Stars
Tumblr media
This happened. It was perfect. That's it.
I watched more than 40 thai shows that came out this year, I'm not counting the ones that are still on, and these were my favourites. Mostly because some of them were the ones that I had the least to complain about.
That's it for my recaps. I still wanna gif some stuff today and it's late so I can't review this post again so if there are mistakes, don't tell me. It'll haunt me.
Have a good night💜

Is it okay if you do something where jack is really stressed and ends up getting mad at his toddler?
i didn't love the way this turned out, but i hope you enjoy!! thanks for your request!
***
Jack had been more than overwhelmed lately. The days leading up to his album deadline had been full of ups and downs that were hard to deal with. You did your best to keep your daughter, May, off of his hands on his busy days, but it was a little tougher to work around when your schedule got busy, too. May was an entirely innocent little girl, she was well-behaved, despite her few tantrums.
You were out for lunch with your newly-engaged friend, leaving May with her father for a few hours in the afternoon. May was looking forward to a day with just her father. She had already planned out in her head what she wanted to do- have breakfast, color some pictures, and maybe even make strawberry cupcakes.
The day started off how she expected, she had breakfast with her daddy and it was all just fine until he got a phone call. Jack sat her down on the barstool next to him as he looked at the phone call from Neelam.
“Yo,” Jack answered, playing with his daughter’s ponytail.
“Hey, Jack. I’ve got some... news.”
“Yeah, go ahead.” he furrowed his eyebrows and Neelam hesitated before speaking.
“Jack, one of the songs lost about two minutes of audio during post.”
“How the fuck did that even happen?” Jack groaned and Neelam made a defeated noise.
“The team is doing everything we can, hopefully we can still retrieve, but I wanted to give you the heads up.”
“How am I supposed to redo that? I’m booked nearly every day for the next two weeks and I’m not going to have time to.”
“I know that, Jack, I do, but-”
“Who was in charge?” Jack stood from the counter and left May at the counter with a bowl of Lucky Charms.
“Daddy?”
“May, give me ten minutes, baby, okay? Finish your breakfast and chill for a few.” he said dismissively, walking through the living to turn the TV onto Daniel Tiger.
May huffed at Jack before shoving her cereal bowl aside and hopping down. Her favorite thing in the world was having breakfast with Jack because instead of his usual hefty breakfast, he’d sit down and eat the sugary cereal she loved so much and he’d always give her cereal in a huge bowl she would never finish.
After a few minutes of staring down the hall and waiting for Jack to return, she hopped off the barstool and went into the closet to pull out a few pieces of paper and some markers. Her plan was to lure Jack back for arts and crafts when she showed him a pretty illustration.
Although May got distracted by Daniel Tiger a few times, she made a nice portrait of the kitten she saw walking. It was only two black ovals with four straight lines sticking out, but she was quite proud of herself. She was about to go back and show Jack, but when she heard his loud groan of frustration, she felt bad and decided something nicer would help.
Being the kind soul she was, she carefully drew stick figures of her and Jack at the basketball game they went to a few days ago. That was the last time she got to spend a decent amount of time and she loved every minute of it. As she replayed the few hours of that outing, she decided to draw the moment he put her on his shoulders as confetti was released in celebration.
She skillfully finished the picture with little blots of different colors to represent the confetti before running back down the hall to Jack. May was more than excited to show him and put him in a better mood. Seeing her always worked for him, any time he had a frown on his face, once May gave him a hug, he felt all better. Surely, she thought, having another painting to put on the walls of his office would relieve him of his worries.
With two quick knocks and a happy smile, she opened the door with the piece of paper behind her back and Jack looked up unhappily. The phone he had against his ear was one that she wasn’t allowed to play games on and the look on his face told him she better not ask to use the other one.
“Daddy, don’t be mad anymore. I made-”
“May, didn’t I tell you to sit down?” he grumbled, causing the little girl’s face to falter.
“I will, I just-”
“And what the fuck is all over your shirt?!” he slammed his phone down and walked over to her. “Why’d you have markers without permission? If you got anything on the carpet, I’m going to be mad.”
“Daddy, look!”
“I’ll look at it later.” Jack sighed, turning around to go back to his phone call. “Now, I need you to just go and sit down until your mother gets home.”
“But, Daddy!” she whined, stomping her foot and Jack lost his temper.
“Didn’t I say go sit down?! What’s so hard to understand about that, huh?!”
The yell that came from Jack’s throat scared her enough to make her drop the paper and send it fluttering to the hardwood floor. He’d never spoken to her like that, not even when she broke a vase in the store that she heard you say was expensive.
“Sorry, Daddy.” her little chest puffed out in the beginning of a sob, but Jack didn’t seem to notice.
She ran from his office before he could say anything else to her, straight to the living room to make an attempt at cleaning up her mess. She quickly threw everything into its designated places back into the closet she got it from and closely inspected the carpet for signs of marker.
When there wasn’t any, she sat down on the couch and cried to herself. Any other time, Jack would’ve come out to apologize if he upset her in the slightest, but now she was under her favorite blanket all to herself and trying to figure out why something so simple had gotten her reprimanded so heavily.
You came home a little earlier than you planned to when Neelam sent you a text about some of Jack’s album work going left. Your husband was a perfectionist through and through, which meant that you would have your hands full with having to talk him through his crisis. What you expected the least, though, was your baby girl with only her toes sticking out from beneath a Hello Kitty blanket and the sound of loud sobs.
“May, honey?” you approached her with concern and she looked from under the covers. Your heart immediately sank because you couldn’t remember the last time you’d seen her like this. “Oh, bug, what’s the matter?”
“D-Daddy is so mean, Mama!” you sat next to her on the couch and began to wipe her tears and kiss her cheeks.
May had been navigating emotions, so sometimes when you and Jack had to parent her, it didn’t result in the best adjectives, but given her current state, calling Jack ‘mean’ didn’t seem too misplaced.
“What do you mean, baby?” she continued to cry and clutch onto your skirt. “I believe you, but can you tell Mommy what Daddy did, so she can make it better? Just calm down.”
She took a few deep breaths with you and you began to stroke her hair. “Daddy was... mad because he had his work phone and I tried to make him feel better with a picture of us, but he yelled at me. Said to sit down and he said a bad word, Mama! You said not to say bad words.”
“I did say that, and Daddy shouldn’t have done any of that, right?”
“Mmhmm. It hurt my feelings.”
“I’m sorry, baby. I think Daddy’s just having a bad day today and he’s not handling it the right way.”
“He needs to count to four.”
“He sure does. And I’ll go tell him that, too.”
She nodded before she spoke. “I missed you, Mama.”
“I missed you, too, bug.” you took her into your arms and left a few kisses that made her giggle. “I’ll be right back, okay?”
“Okay, Mommy.”
You sighed as you stood from the couch to go to Jack’s office. You were sure that once you bought his actions to light, he’d be more upset at himself than anything. You didn’t knock before entering Jack’s workspace, which earned you a glare, but nothing further. You moved the papers that had scribbles of verses on them and sat down in their former spot while staring up at Jack.
“My wife just got in and it looks important, so can I call you back?” there was a pause on Jack’s end before he set the phone down and looked at you tiredly. “Neelam call you?”
“Yes, she did and I’m glad she did because we need to talk.”
“About what?” you sighed and licked your lips.
“May. I don’t know when you yelled at her, Jack, but you hurt her feelings bad. She was crying under her blanket.”
“I’ll apologize once I get this all sorted, baby, but this is all crazy.”
“You yelled at her and you’ve never yelled at her, J.”
“I raised my voice.”
“No, she’s heard a raised voice with good reason. My baby is downstairs in tears, Jack. She was just trying to give you this.” you held up the piece of paper that you found on the floor and Jack took it in his hands. Once he deciphered what she drew, you could see the guilt cross his face.
“Fuck.” he breathed out and made eye contact with you. You stood up and got closer to him, enough to make sure he wouldn’t break away from your glance.
“She’s just a little girl who we’ve taught to be kind and respectful and that’s just what she was trying to do. I know you didn’t mean to, but we have to think about how that’s going to affect her if we hold off on owning up to when we’re not. You and May have the healthy relationship that I have always wanted for my babies and it’s your job to keep it up.”
Jack nodded, running his hands through his hair. “I swear I didn’t mean to hurt her feelings, baby. I love May more than anything.”
“I know, baby, it’s why I’m not upset. I just want to make sure you understand.” you rubbed his shoulders and Jack nodded once more. “I love you and I love May. I want my family to be happy, that’s all.”
“I love you, too. I’m going to spend the rest of the day with May, so you just get comfortable, baby. Have a day to yourself.”
“Now that’s what I like to hear.” you kissed his cheek with a smile. “And we’ll talk later on about this all, if you want.”
“Thank you, baby.”
Jack eventually made his way back to the living room where May turned her head at the sound of footsteps. She first assumed it was you until she saw the tall figure. He wasn’t so intimidating with a pout on his face and a pair of Christmas pajama pants, but May still tensed.
“I didn’t make a mess, Daddy.” she whispered and Jack swallowed as his stomach dropped.
“I don’t care about a mess, May. I came to apologize for what happened.” he kneeled in front of her and she raised her eyebrows curiously.
“Apologize?”
“Means to say sorry. I want to say sorry for yelling at you and getting mad when you were just trying to do something nice for me. I shouldn’t have treated you that way, nobody should treat you that way.” he spoke firmly.
“Then why did you?”
“Because, and this is not at all a good reason, but some big stuff happened at work and I’m mad that a very special song I made for you got messed up. Daddy’s not mad at you for even a minute, May, I’m mad at that. Do you understand?”
“You’re mad at work and got mad at me?”
“Yeah. It wasn’t your fault and you weren’t doing anything bad, so I shouldn’t have yelled.” he looked at her in a survey of understanding and she nodded. “I am the sorriest I have ever been, May.”
“I forgive you. I’m sorry you were mad.”
“Thank you for forgiving me.” he kissed her cheek when he pulled her into his lap. “Now, what do you want to do since I'm so sorry?”
“Mmm, can you take me to ride my bike at the park?”
“I’d love to do that.”
“And then get ice cream?”
“Strawberry.”
“Duh.” she giggled and Jack laughed back. “And then can we watch Princess and the Frog?”
“My favorite!”
“No, it’s my favorite, Daddy!” she squealed and Jack stood up happily.
“Can we share?”
“Mmhmm.” she decided, wrapping her arm around his neck as he voyaged up the stairs.
“Let’s put on some real clothes, so we can have a really good day today.”
“Alright!” she scrambled down Jack’s side and he went into her room. “Oh, and Daddy?”
“Hmm?” he hummed back before going to her closet for an outfit.
“You can’t bring your work phone, so you don’t get angry. It’s May only.”
“Only you, May baby." he agreed, causing her to smile wide.

Israeli security forces delivered 300 liters of diesel fuel to Shifa Hospital in Gaza early Sunday morning and later received intelligence indicating that Hamas had intercepted the delivery, according to a Sunday night IDF statement.
Hamas on Sunday denied it had refused 300 liters (79.25 gallons) of fuel from Israel intended for medical use at Gaza's Al Shifa hospital.
"The offer belittles the pain and suffering of the patients who are trapped inside without water, food, or electricity. This quantity is not enough to operate hospital generators for more than thirty minutes," Hamas added in a statement.
The statement also added that Hamas was not associated with Al-Shifa hospital management, "nor is (Hamas) part of its decision-making structures. (The hospital) is completely subject to the authority of the Palestinian health ministry."
IDF releases video, audio evidence of Hamas fuel interference
The IDF released three separate recordings of the event. The first was an audio recording of an exchange between a representative of the Coordination and Liaison Administration (CLA), which implements civilian policy regarding the Israeli government's activity in the Gaza Strip, and an official from Shifa Hospital.
The two discussed the delivery logistics, explaining where to go and how it would be conducted.
"After we deliver the fuel," the CLA representative said, "our forces will move back so that they won't be next to the junction. You will send an ambulance to take the fuel."
The second was a video of IDF soldiers delivering 300 liters of fuel on Sunday morning near the hospital.
Finally, the IDF shared a recording of a conversation between an IDF officer and a health official in Gaza, in which the health official stated that Yusef Abu Rish, director general of Gaza's Hamas-run Health Ministry, prevented the hospital from receiving the fuel.
"There is a problem at Shifa," said the health official. "Be patient with me."
"What's the story?" asks a CLA representative.
"Abu Rish doesn't want this amount [of fuel]. We are trying to convince him."
IDF Spokesperson R.-Adm. Daniel Hagadi said the military would help evacuate babies from the hospital, at the request of the staff at Shifa.
Israel has said doctors, patients, and thousands of evacuees who have taken refuge at hospitals in northern Gaza must leave so it can tackle Hamas terrorists who it says have placed command centers under and around them.
Ahmed al-Mokhallalati, a senior plastic surgeon at Al Shifa, told Reuters there had been continuous bombardment for more than 24 hours. He said most hospital staff and people sheltering there had left, but 500 patients remained.
Hamas stealing fuel from Gazan hospitals
Earlier in November, the IDF released proof that Hamas was stealing fuel from Gazan hospitals. On November 1, they released a recording between a Hamas commander and a representative from the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza.
Two days later, they released a recording of a Gazan health official explaining how Hamas stole fuel from Shifa Hospital.

NeKrO
"It used to be said 'you can sleep when you're dead', but we ask, why wait? At NeKrO we offer you an unrivalled opportunity: seven years competitive salary, no strings attached, to enjoy in the prime of your life. In return? Seven years employment with NeKrO after your natural passing."
The advert was projected over Price Square on repeat every quarter hour. Once per hour with audio. They targeted day-workers who lived hand-to-mouth, for whom the promise of seven years salary in a lump sum was too good to pass up. Each day, Jun saw fewer and fewer people on the street corners or doorways. The noodle bars emptied, and the restaurants filled.
"NeKrO uses pioneering synapsogenesis to keep your body going after you've gone. Let your soul rest easy while the rest of you puts in the work."
The newscasts heralded the meteoric rise of NeKrO's stock and its CEO, whose beguiling smile beamed out from every screen and billboard. Daytime streamers interviewed company representatives, plugged sponsorships. Money saturated the downtown and it seemed every apartment was either selling up for wealthier neighbourhoods or sporting the latest tech kitchens and furniture.
"NeKrO operatives already fulfil many vital functions in today's busy society, from maintenance and retail service to computational wetware and synthories."
No one enjoyed this much success without controversy. Jun glimpsed the whistleblowers' reports before they were scrubbed from the feeds. Saw the takedowns from embittered once-celebs whose fifteen minutes were up long ago. Yet the line kept going up. Shop staff were replaced by masked, uniformed, straight-backed bodies that differed only in height and build. Their voices, digital and identical, spoke in carefully calculated tones designed to soothe, reassure, and let the customer know they were important. Only the slight scent of decay, lingering in the filtered air, reminded you that these were corpses.
"Chat with one our team today to learn how much you could earn with us. NeKrO: your time, your way."
It wasn't just the high-end shops. Even the repair bars and vendors were soon more dead than living. At Jun's favourite late-night haunt, the talented chef had been swapped for robotic, stiff-armed line cooks. The food had lost its spark. Strips of fly paper hung discreetly near the doors to the kitchen.
Then came the inevitable call. A pre-recorded message from a sharp-suited, smooth-faced executive delivered a pre-determined verdict.
"We're letting you go."
Who could compete with the dead? They didn't ask for raises. They didn't need breaks. They could be hired from NeKrO's vast 'mausoleums' for a fraction of Jun's wages. The severance pay was pitiful, besides.
Reluctantly, Jun dialled the number that everyone had memorised. A voice like syrup on the other end of the line talked her through the process and mailed over the appropriate papers. Seven years, up-front. A bottle of gin later, she had signed, stamped and ratified every last one. Digits followed by an alarming amount of zeroes appeared in her account the very same moment.
Now she sat at a fancy table in a fancy restaurant with the rest of them, picking at food she could barely pronounce with the wrong utensil and listening to the excited conversations around her. Holidays of a lifetime, plans to start a family, excited entrepreneurs who could finally afford their own place. The energy would be infectious, if Jun had any plans of her own.
After paying a bill she didn't need to look at, she leant against the outside wall and chewed on a tablet. A little down the street she saw one of her fellow diners who'd signed the dotted line a month prior. He was stumbling and swaying, leaning on the lamppost and loudly crowing his success between nearly losing his seven course meal. A grey and green van pulled up silently alongside him and four masked, uniformed, straight-backed bodies exited. Two of them grabbed the man's arms, and before could protest, the third jabbed him in the throat with a thick needle. He quickly went limp in their grip and was ushered into the waiting vehicle.
The fourth stood by observing the proceedings and taking notes on a pad. As the others disappeared into the van with their new 'colleague', it looked down the street directly at Jun. She felt a shiver crawl down her spine, like someone had just stepped on her grave.

Youtube is a dumb idiot platform run by greedy jerks and I'm smarter than Neal Mohan. Here's eleven entire ways youtube could make money to keep itself afloat without being anti-consumer
1- For every 1 hour of video uploaded by a single person, charge 1 USD. Data needs a physical place to be stored and that costs money, it is completely reasonable that the people using this service pay a small amount of money for it. That said, don't retroactively charge people for video already uploaded or change the fee itself. One and done. Have some integrity.
2- Actually talk to the creators and set up some sort of (actual) partner program among the larger million+ subscriber channels wherein Youtube representatives help facilitate sponsorships (and take a little bit of that money as a treat). That way there's an alternative to predatory MCNs and it solves the issue of people not being able to get in touch with youtube reps, because they will be working directly with youtube reps
3- Make the livestreaming function more accessible and visible (1-5% cut from all donations/subs/whatever they're called on there)
4- Kill youtube tv, movies, kids, and all things of a similar vein and make a singular secondary site dedicated to professionally-made content from studios with the option to either buy a subscription for unlimited access to the library or purchase digital copies in a one-time transaction (basically just make netflix 2 but good, you have the resources)
5- Remove embedded ads for any video under 20 minutes, remove midrolls altogether, raise the price advertisers have to pay for this limited real estate. A lot of people still do not use adblockers, they'll see these ads. You control the supply, so make the people demanding it pay instead of those of us innocent bystanders.
6- A single banner ad on the homepage that you charge advertisers out the nose for, make those little idiot marketing firms fight tooth and nail for even a brief second with it. If you're going to keep people from blocking ads then have this be the singular unblocked ad. Vet whoever wants to rent it thoroughly and keep it as a static image with no audio.
7- Kill content farms. Put in a daily upload limit and investigate channels that upload large amounts of content (especially similar content) frequently. Kill cocomelon and its ilk with hammers. Hell, I'll do that one for free.
8- Fire Neal Mohan and beat him over the head with a boogie board until he apologizes for the crypto bullshit. Likewise. If anyone utters 'web3', 'crypto', 'nft', 'ai art', or 'metaverse' in a non-ironic context, fire them. Then fold their salaries back into server costs.
9- Enforce rules fairly and fix the copyright system so people actually want to use your website. Throw in some quality-of-life changes to while you're feeling spicy. More customization for the actual aesthetics of a channel page would be cool
10- You can keep youtube premium but don't put website functionality behind a paywall, explicitly state that premium is for people who want to support the website, show them exactly where their money is going, and maybe add little bonuses like hats for your profile picture that are randomly unlocked as you watch youtube for premium subscribers only. This is exclusively cosmetic. You can even put out hats that match those special google banners and holidays and shit. Just something cute and nice as a 'hey thanks for supporting us'
11- Integrate the merchandise tab better in a NON-OBTRUSIVE WAY. Maybe have a function for larger channels to have an embedded shop page on their channel. Not the weird, clunky version of this that they have now

They really don’t have time. I’ve listened to the team that puts the music together talk about the process. If you really want to know the obstacles they have to overcome, the amount of songs, and the last minute changes, and scheduling conflicts they have to deal with, listen to Riverdale After Dark’s podcast episode with the people that do the music for the show. It’s not easy to do what they do with the time and money and talent they have. That’s my only point. I know you like to shit on them for it. So I want bother you with it any further but some perspective doesn’t hurt.
Look anon, I am being completely genuine when I say I appreciate your quite calm and friendly tone. It's nice to have an anon that doesn't smugly yell at me.
But two things: one, it is absolutely not required to do a musical episode, and most fans hate it, so even if it is a lot of work, it's really not work for a good cause. The actors don't even like doing them, I'd wager. And if they truly don't have the time or the money for it, to desecrate a musical anyway is more maddening than anything else.
And two, again, the songs and the music are absolutely terribly done. I don't know what their audio engineers' specialties are, truly I don't, but the songs are mixed absolutely horribly. It is not that much extra effort to change the key to fit the singers' voices, but absolutely nothing is changed. It is not advisable to absolutely deep fry their songs in autotune. There are some (ahemMadsVanessaColeahem) where you can scarcely distinguish real voice from machine because it is SO autotuned. Like, every single note. I get that this is likely a directorial choice but the songs are not necessary at ALL. They don't move the plot forward, they don't help the character express something that they couldn't otherwise, they don't represent an emotional turning point, they just....exist pointlessly, to be terribly sung. I was cringing for Camila on Origin of Love, straining so hard to reach those high notes.
Again, you liking the episodes is valid, anon. I am not here to hate on someone's personal opinion, you're allowed to feel that. I'm saying if we are saying the episodes are impressively done musically, that's more of a matter of fact, and they are....not.

Unlike platforms like YouTube that primarily offer user-generated and pre-recorded content, IPTV provides a diverse collection of live broadcasts, including sports events, news, and entertainment shows. Users can enjoy their favorite TV programs in real-time, enhancing the viewing experience and eliminating the need for traditional TV schedules. Additionally, IPTV offers extensive video on demand (VOD) libraries, giving users the freedom to choose from a vast selection of movies and TV series. With just a few clicks, users can enjoy their preferred content whenever they want, bringing unparalleled convenience and flexibility to their entertainment choices. Overall, IPTV represents the future of television, providing users with a seamless streaming experience that combines live broadcasts and video on demand. This innovative technology is reshaping the way we consume TV content and offering a personalized and customizable entertainment experience. What is Buffering in IPTV? Buffering in IPTV refers to the process of preloading data into a reserved area of memory called a buffer. This preloading ensures a smooth playback experience by downloading a certain amount of data before playing the video. Buffering messages often display progress as a percentage, indicating how much of the buffer memory has been filled. When the buffer reaches 100%, the audio or video starts playing. Buffering is a crucial mechanism in IPTV streaming that helps mitigate issues such as iptv buffering, lag, and interruptions. By preloading data in the buffer, the streaming service can ensure a more consistent and uninterrupted playback experience for users. Buffering is like taking a pause before starting to play a video so that there's enough data available in the buffer to sustain smooth playback. When you play an IPTV video, the streaming service downloads a few seconds or minutes of content into the buffer while the video plays from the buffer. This allows for a seamless playback experience even if there are momentary fluctuations in your internet connection. How Buffering Works in IPTV Here's a simplified breakdown of how buffering works in IPTV: The streaming service preloads a specific amount of data into the buffer before the video begins. As the video plays, the buffer gradually fills up with additional data. If there are any interruptions or variations in the network speed, the buffer compensates by playing from the existing data until the connection stabilizes. Once the buffer reaches 100% or a sufficient level, the video continues playing, offering a smooth and uninterrupted viewing experience.
It's worth noting that the size of the buffer can vary depending on various factors, including the speed of your internet connection and the quality of the streaming service. A larger buffer can accommodate for potential network fluctuations and ensure smoother playback. By understanding the concept of buffering in IPTV, you can appreciate the importance of having a stable internet connection and optimizing your network settings. Now let's explore common causes of IPTV freezing and buffering to help you troubleshoot and improve your streaming experience. Common Causes of IPTV Freezing and Buffering Freezing and buffering can be frustrating when you're trying to enjoy your favorite IPTV programs. Understanding the common causes of these issues can help you troubleshoot and resolve them effectively. Here are some factors that can contribute to IPTV freezing and buffering: Inadequate Internet Speed: Slow internet speeds can lead to buffering and freezing during IPTV streaming. Insufficient bandwidth may result in data packets taking longer to reach your device, causing interruptions in playback. Improper Wired Connections: Using a wireless connection instead of a wired one can introduce instability into your IPTV streaming. Wired connections provide a more reliable and consistent network connection, minimizing the chances of freezing and buffering. Limited Bandwidth from the Streaming Source: Some IPTV providers may have limited bandwidth, especially during peak hours. This can result in buffering and freezing as the server struggles to deliver the content to multiple users simultaneously. Poor Internet Service Provider (ISP) Connection Speeds: If your ISP does not provide sufficient connection speeds, you may experience freezing and buffering issues. It's important to choose a reliable ISP that can deliver the necessary bandwidth for smooth IPTV streaming. Low-Quality Servers: The quality and capacity of the servers used by the IPTV provider can impact your streaming experience. Overloaded or poorly maintained servers may struggle to handle the demands of multiple users, leading to freezing and buffering. To ensure a seamless IPTV streaming experience, it is essential to address these common causes. In the next section, we will explore methods to improve your internet connection and optimize IPTV streaming quality. Improving IPTV Streaming Quality Enhancing the quality of your IPTV streaming experience involves optimizing various factors. These include: Internet Speed: Ensure a minimum internet speed of 7-10 Mbps for download and 1-3 Mbps for upload. A faster internet connection can prevent buffering and provide smoother playback. Wired Connection: Use a wired connection instead of relying on Wi-Fi. Wired connections tend to offer more stability, resulting in a more reliable IPTV streaming experience. Server Quality: Selecting a reliable IPTV server with robust hardware is crucial. A high-quality server can handle the streaming demands more efficiently, reducing freezing and buffering issues. IPTV Box: Maintain your IPTV device by regularly updating the firmware and software. This ensures that you have the latest optimizations and bug fixes, enhancing the overall streaming quality. By implementing these optimization techniques, you can significantly improve the quality of your IPTV streaming. Experience smoother playback and uninterrupted enjoyment of your favorite TV programs. “Choosing the Right IPTV Server” "A reliable IPTV server with good-quality hardware is the key to a seamless streaming experience." - IPTV Expert Network Optimizations for Smoother IPTV When it comes to IPTV streaming, network optimizations play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted viewing experience. By implementing the right strategies, you can improve your IPTV performance and avoid common issues like buffering and freezing. Let's explore some key network optimizations to optimize your IPTV streaming: 1. Bandwidth Management
Bandwidth is a critical factor in IPTV streaming. To ensure sufficient bandwidth for your IPTV service, avoid running bandwidth-intensive activities simultaneously while watching IPTV. For example, downloading torrents or large files can consume a significant amount of bandwidth, leading to buffering and freezing. By prioritizing your IPTV streaming and minimizing other resource-demanding activities, you can optimize your available bandwidth for a smoother experience. 2. Wired Routers Using a wired connection instead of relying solely on Wi-Fi can significantly improve IPTV streaming performance. Wired connections provide a more stable and consistent connection compared to wireless connections, minimizing packet loss and reducing the chances of buffering. Consider connecting your IPTV device directly to the router using an Ethernet cable for the best results. 3. Network Configuration Proper network configuration is crucial to optimize IPTV streaming. Ensure that your router is capable of handling streaming video traffic effectively. Some routers are specifically designed for optimized video streaming performance and can handle IPTV traffic more efficiently. Avoid misconfigurations or security vulnerabilities that may affect the overall network performance. Keeping your network configuration up to date and secure can contribute to better IPTV streaming quality. 4. Traffic Prioritization Another effective network optimization technique for IPTV streaming is traffic prioritization. By prioritizing IPTV traffic over other types of data, you can ensure a smoother streaming experience. Most modern routers have Quality of Service (QoS) settings that allow you to prioritize specific types of traffic, including IPTV. By adjusting the QoS settings or enabling IPTV-specific traffic prioritization, you can reduce the chances of buffering or freezing during IPTV streaming. Implementing these network optimizations can significantly enhance your IPTV streaming experience. By managing your bandwidth effectively, using wired connections, optimizing your network configuration, and prioritizing IPTV traffic, you can enjoy uninterrupted viewing and minimize buffering or freezing issues. Follow these tips to make the most out of your IPTV service and enjoy seamless entertainment. Hardware Considerations for IPTV Stability Ensuring a stable and uninterrupted IPTV streaming experience involves considering the right hardware. By using recommended equipment and connectivity solutions, you can improve stability, avoid programming issues, and enjoy seamless playback. Here are some hardware considerations to enhance your IPTV experience: 1. Recommended Equipment Using dedicated IPTV boxes is recommended, as they are specifically designed for optimal streaming performance. These devices are equipped with powerful processors and built-in features that enhance stability and provide a smooth user experience. Some popular IPTV box models include: Dedicated IPTV Box Description Mag 254 Offers reliable performance and supports various IPTV streaming platforms. Formuler Z8 Provides advanced functionalities and supports high-definition streaming. Dreamlink T2 Features a user-friendly interface and robust streaming capabilities. These devices ensure compatibility with IPTV services and minimize the risk of compatibility issues that can cause freezing or buffering. 2. Ethernet Power Line Adapter Connecting your IPTV box directly to the router using an Ethernet power line adapter can significantly improve stability and internet speed. The adapter uses existing electrical wiring to transmit data signals, eliminating Wi-Fi-related connectivity issues and ensuring a reliable connection. Uncovering Roots: Recounting Overlooked Historical Tales Of Pain & Suffering
Tumblr media
This review is the first in a series of reviews, recommendations, and essays about Indie podcasters -- their craft, their challenges, and the critical role they play in podcasting. These entrepreneurs display skills as disparate as hosting, sound production, graphic design, scriptwriting, interviewing, marketing genius, and financial watchdog. They are the heart and soul of podcasting.
Uncovering Roots is an independently produced (Indie) podcast that is a moving and powerful new show that gives a voice to lesser-known people whose stories need to be heard. The creator, producer, and host is Maxim Saakyan. He is Armenian, Spanish, and Russian, a complicated blend, to say the least.  Saakyan was born in Italy, moved to London when he was young and studied Math for both his bachelor's and master's.  His education led him quite organically to a data analyst job, but he craved doing creative things.
Why did Saakyan start a podcast, and why this podcast?
"I'm a strong believer that creative outputs are the best ways to teach people about certain topics," says Maxim. "Whether that's about history, culture or current affairs, audio is also such an intimate way of talking to people, most of the time, you're literally in their ears speaking to them. Maxim continues: "We seem to be living in a world where one-minute videos are the goal, but despite that, there is a rise in popularity with podcasts which can be 30 to even 60 minutes long"
The first three episodes of Uncovering Roots are about the Armenian Genocide of 1915 and beyond by the Ottoman Empire (modern-day Turkey). In those two years, over 1.2 million Armenians were sent on death marches to the Syrian Desert. In addition, about 200,000 Armenian women and children were forcibly converted to Islam and integrated into Muslim households.
Due to its strategic geographic significance, Armenia has suffered countless invaders and invasions throughout history. For example, from 1513 to 1737, Armenia was controlled by different conquerors 14 times. Saakyan begins by telling the story of Armenian Genocide survivor Aurora Mardiganian, who is the subject of the strong opening episode, pieced together with interviews from people who knew her. Resilient doesn’t come close to describing the woman who suffered torture and brutality before she eventually escaped to New York.
Saakyan comments on these episodes: "This three-part series of the podcast is very important to me. As an Armenian, the amount of people who don't know about the genocide really hurts me. Then we look at Aurora's story, and it's just so unbelievably shocking. It's so unbelievable that so many people didn't actually think she existed. Like she was a fictional character that was made up to represent the pain Armenians went through. But she was real. She not only went through the genocide, but she went through Hollywood exploitation as well. This story isn't just about teaching people about the genocide, it's about honoring her story."
Make no mistake about it. Saakyan's storytelling and narrative prowess are so good that these episodes rival the emotional punch of Holocaust horror tales. What's more amazing about the emotional core of this podcast is Saakyan's admission that, "I virtually had zero story-telling podcast experience, no sound design experience, no mic experience. This was an entire learning curve for me. From fact checking to interviewing. I think one of the hardest things was the sound design element, I never appreciated how crucial it is."
Despite Saakyan's protestations of inexperience, Uncovering Roots is an audio masterpiece for several reasons. First, his storytelling is so commanding that it can grab listeners by their ears. His voice radiates the kind of emotional intensity that can blanket listeners with the darkness of the human psyche. Second, the sound production is sonically eloquent and pervasive in its haunting nature. "For the first episode, I worked with the talented Olivia Melkonain on music," Saakyan notes. "We used a music library to try and find Armenian sounds. After learning a lot from her, I implemented a similar sound design to episodes two and three. The Armenian sounds, from Oud's to Duduk's, were a really important part of the series."
Third, Saakyan created this podcast with a sharp eye for the smallest detail. For example, his mother designed the podcast's graphics, and, while it was very much a solo-project, he solicited help from Olivia Melkonian and Al Shaibani."
What are the future tales planned for Uncovering Roots? Saakyan answers: "In mid 2024, we're hoping to have the first official season up and running where we tell stories from the SWANA (South West Asia and North Africa) region and indigenous people from across the globe."
I highly recommend Uncovering Roots. This podcast resonates with the agony of an entire race, and creator / host Saakyan inserts us into the life and eyes of an Armenian girl, Aurora Mardiganian.
In effect, Uncovering Roots is the ultimate true-crime podcast, because it's true about the disputed Armenian Genocide, and it's a crime how these people suffered so much during World War 1.

A Coke And A Smile
Sometimes the right Christmas marketing message is the one you have been using for years. There’s no point in deviating from the tried and true, even if you begin to question it and worry about it having become cliche, trite, or long in the tooth.
No, if it has worked for a century, you better keep running with it. Just be sure to make necessary updates and adaptations that keep it current.
I’m talking about Coca-Cola and Santa. A century ago, Coca-Cola started using Santa in its seasonal ads. In 1931, though, they commissioned Dutch illustrator Haddon Sundblom to “reimagine Santa Claus.” And that he did, creating one of the most iconic of Santa figures the world has ever seen.
Truly, because his rendition of Santa—subtly updated through the years—continues to be used around the globe. And now, once more, we are being treated to what has become an annual theme in Coke’s holiday advertising.
To be fair, in recent years Coca-Cola almost dropped ball on this, instead using their also-familiar polar bears to appear on holiday Coke cans instead of Santa. He was still used on packaging and in other places, but in smaller amounts. Thankfully, Coca-Cola came to their senses and realized that, while the Polar bears—also a century old—have been popular for them, they are not synonymous with Christmas.
Santa is a message everyone can understand, even if it is a western creation. And this year Coca-Cola has launched a comprehensive holiday campaign—The World Needs More Santas—that includes the familiar character on cans and bottles, AI, and digital experiences.
And the marketing prof stood back and said, “This is pretty cool.”
Tumblr media
If you have been in the supermarket lately, you may have seen the new Coca-Cola cans lining the shelves, available in 12-ounce and 8-ounce varieties. But that’s just the beginning, because Coca-Cola Christmas trucks will be making appearances at selected sites, complemented by digital quizzes, on-pack competition, and out-of-home advertising. The campaign, which will run in 80 nations, is the perfect marriage of old and new, yet stresses one message: Find your inner Santa.
Be sure to watch the ad on YouTube. It clocks in at a whopping minute and 48 seconds!
youtube
While any semblance of religious significance of the holiday has long been lost on Coca-Cola and other marketers, Santa at least represents the good that comes from loving one another. The essence of the campaign is that anyone can be Santa simply through kindness.
Also included in the campaign are digital postcards and AI-generated movie shorts, which will come closer to the holiday. Remember, it’s still only early November, and it was 88º here yesterday in Amarillo, hardly winter weather. Santa is still working on his tan. Well, this Santa was.
At the corporate level, Coca-Cola has reversed revenue and profit declines during the COVID years, and is experiencing healthy growth now in both. It comes at a time when the company’s portfolio, though, is in flux as they try to find the right mix of products. That, of course, is a moving target, with consumer preferences for soft drinks fading, but demand for other beverages increasing.
It was so much simpler in 1931 when all they had was one cola product.
Still, this is the feel-good campaign of the season thus far. Regardless of your religious beliefs, Santa is a figure I think most of us can agree on. Yes, it can also be argued that he is just a symbol of rampant consumerism, that “being Santa” involves buying things, for others, and, of course, ourselves.
That’s not the essence of the message, though, as the ad shows Santas in everyday life, which may include shopping, but also lifting weights, captaining a trolley car, skateboarding, and more. In other words, Santa is everywhere and everyone, or at least inside each of us.
And it is up to us to let him out. Well-played, Coca-Cola.

Boosting Etsy Sales with Video: A Step-by-Step Guide
In the competitive world of e-commerce, Etsy stands out as a unique platform for creative entrepreneurs to showcase their handmade and vintage goods. With millions of active sellers vying for the attention of potential buyers, it's crucial to find innovative ways to make your Etsy shop stand out. One effective strategy that has gained popularity in recent years is using video content. In this step-by-step guide, we'll explore how to use video content effectively on your Etsy shop to increase sales and engagement with your customers.
Steps To Boost Your Sales
Step 1: Understand the Power of Video
Before diving into the process of creating and utilizing videos on your Etsy shop, it's essential to understand why video content is so impactful. Videos have the ability to convey a wealth of information in a short amount of time, making them an excellent tool for showcasing your products. They can provide a closer look at your items, demonstrate their usage, and even share your brand's story. Moreover, videos are highly engaging and memorable, making them an effective way to connect with your audience on a personal level.
Step 2: Plan Your Video Strategy
A successful video marketing strategy starts with a clear plan. Here are some key considerations:
1. Define Your Goals: What do you want to achieve with your videos? Is it increased sales, improved brand awareness, or better customer engagement? Knowing your objectives will guide your video creation process.
2. Target Audience: Understand your target audience's preferences, pain points, and interests. Make your videos just for them.
3. Video Types: Decide on the types of videos you want to create. Common options include product demos, tutorials, behind-the-scenes glimpses, customer testimonials, and storytelling videos.
4. Frequency: Determine how often you'll release new videos. Consistency can help build a loyal audience.
Step 3: Create Compelling Videos
1. Quality Matters: Invest in good equipment, lighting, and editing tools to ensure your videos are of high quality. Both clear audio and sharp pictures are crucial.
2. Tell a Story: Craft a narrative around your products or brand. Storytelling can evoke emotions and create a deeper connection with your viewers.
3. Keep It Short and Sweet: Attention spans are short, so aim for concise videos that get your message across in under two minutes.
4. Show Your Personality: Don't be afraid to let your personality shine through. Genuineness may be a potent marketing element.
5. Include a Call to Action (CTA): Always guide your viewers on what to do next. Whether it's visiting your Etsy shop, subscribing to your channel, or making a purchase, make it clear.
Step 4: Optimize for Etsy
Now that you have compelling videos ready, it's time to integrate them into your Etsy shop effectively:
1. Add Videos to Your Product Listings: Etsy allows you to add videos to your product listings. Use this feature to showcase your items in action. Highlight key features, show different angles, or demonstrate how they can be used.
2. Craft Engaging Titles and Descriptions: When you add videos to your listings, make sure to use descriptive titles and engaging descriptions that encourage shoppers to click and watch.
3. Use Thumbnails Wisely: Etsy allows you to choose a thumbnail image for your video. Pick an image that accurately represents the content and entices viewers to click.
4. Share Your Story: Don't limit videos to just product listings. Create an "About Us" video that shares your brand's story and values. The confidence of potential clients might be increased by this personal touch.
Step 5: Promote Your Videos
Creating great videos is only half the battle. You also need to promote them to reach a wider audience:
1. Share on Social Media: Use your social media accounts to share your Etsy shop videos. Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest are great for visual content.
2. Leverage Email Marketing: Include video links in your email marketing campaigns. Videos can boost email engagement and conversions.
3. Collaborate with Influencers: Partner with influencers or bloggers in your niche to feature your products in their videos or reviews.
4. Engage with Your Audience: Respond to comments and engage with viewers on your video platforms. Building a community can led to repeat customers.
Step 6: Measure and Adapt
To refine your video strategy and continuously improve your Etsy shop's performance, it's crucial to track the impact of your videos:
1. Monitor Analytics: Keep an eye on video performance metrics such as views, watch time, and click-through rates.
2. Ask for Feedback: Encourage your customers to provide feedback on your videos. You may improve your article by receiving constructive review.
3. A/B Testing: Experiment with different video types, lengths, and styles to see what resonates best with your audience.
4. Stay Updated: The world of video marketing is constantly evolving. Stay informed about the latest trends and tools to keep your strategy fresh and effective.
Conclusion:
Incorporating video content into your Etsy shop can be a game-changer when it comes to boosting sales and engaging with customers. By following this step-by-step guide and staying committed to creating high-quality, engaging videos, you can set your shop apart from the competition and build a loyal customer base. So, grab your camera or smartphone, start creating, and watch your Etsy sales soar through the power of video.

2D Design Intervention (Midterm)
Linescapes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For Linescapes my partner and I used a variation of colored tape that I had gotten from Michael’s - and though I can’t speak for where she got her tape - the result came out beautifully.
Our initial intention with Linescaping was to create a view from outside of a person’s window of a waterfall accompanied by a mountain range and tree’s - in the style of what you would find in a children’s book. Simple yet cheerful. We then opted for the addition of a “flamingo penguin” and minute details such as the flowers we created - which I believe added to the immersion of the piece. Soon after we finished the mountains we figured it’d be best to have the waterfall descend from window’s perspective as opposed to having a view of it from the window looking onwards.
2. Natural Objects
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For Natural Objects the materials being used were my phone to capture the images and the surrounding natural environment provided by FIU’s Modesto Modique Campus.
My intent behind these photographs was to - beyond beauty - capture something with more depth and meaning behind it. For the upper left picture of the water, I see the ripples as a physical representation of what Nostalgia makes a person feel when they look back at cherished memories or impactful ones.
On the upper right, I capture a car with a collection of trees behind it: which depicts the level of impact (amount of trees) the motorized vehicle has on the environment.
On the lower left we have what looks to be a knife created from the erosion that happened on the ground. The erosion being represented by a knife.
On the lower right we have the pathway to Heaven. The tree’s and clouds are angled in such as way that there’s a space below the tree’s, between the tree’s (the gate to heaven), and above the tree’s amongst clouds (Heaven.)
3. Botanical Rhythms
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For Botanical Rhythms I used a large white cardboard with a folding mechanism to it, along with a black G-2 pen and my phone to play the audio - Angel part 1 - I used for this project.
As you can probably tell by now, simple yet deep has been the theme with my approach to these projects and Botanical Rhythms doesn’t fall short of that. I identify different periods of my life based on what music shaped that time or resonated with me the most. As of now, that song for me is “Angel Part 1” - Jimini, Kodak Black and others I love the melodic and spiritual transition into a more aggressive rap because it indicates that despite your background you can confide in “what can’t be seen” through your struggles and hardship. Great juxtaposition all while retaining inclusivity. So I went ahead and drew out the song as I heard it and felt it. Rather than moving my pen and hand along with the song robotically. I did so emotionally - feeling goosebumps as I drew. The top portion of the piece being jimini’s vocals and the bottom portion being Kodak black’s.
4. Decode Fractals
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For “Decode Fractals” I used a large white firm paper, a 5-colored set of crayola paint brushes and these pink fluffy plants I found at Michael’s.
This project has played a role in one of the most impactful moments of my life. I started off with the concept being “World Peace” and initially wasn’t sure how to represent such a grandeur goal. So I gathered three affirmations that I live by: “Focus on the Positive,” “If there’s a Will there’s a Way,” and “No matter What our Love is Strong!” The idea being that living in accordance to these three mindsets will make the World if not at Peace, at the very least a better place. Not long after presenting it in class, I went to the Green Library and GC: cleaning up every bit of trash on the floor that I saw, whilst holding the sign and with a flower tucked in my ear (FIU’s blessing.) I was so moved by this that I did the same in Brickell - From the Kindness of my Heart

Mediumship Reading ~ the crazy cat lady
Tumblr media
Card #1... Princess of Pentacles
The person who has passed on ~
This card represents a very grounded and down-to-earth female.  She loved animals, and you would probably find her with an assortment of pets, all the while she's either worrying over or trying to rescue other animals as well.  She would take in any stray.  Her demeanor was very earthy and natural, and she didn't wear a lot of makeup or give great thought to fashion or hairstyles.  She was the kind of woman who could be ready to go somewhere in two minutes or less, throwing her unruly hair in a pony tail and slipping into a comfortable old pair of blue jeans.  She was perfectly at ease doing this, lacking the vanity of most women.
Card #2, addresses the spirit... 7/pentacles
Looking back on your life, how do you see it?
She see's her life as one engulfed in the act of nurturing, mostly animals, but also people who were outcast or emotionally adrift, a plant that someone else threw out for "dead", an injured bird on the back porch... constantly feeding, nursing, comforting, helping other living things.
She was constantly engaged with new ideas and plans and adventures, a lot of them not very successful, but entered into with unabandoned enthusiasm none-the-less.  She was never afraid to try new things and was not discouraged if there was not a 100% success rate, because there would always be something else, something new, to try and to experience.
She was not necessarily very tidy, and she was not bothered by a certain amount of clutter or a messy atmosphere about her.  The chaos of such surroundings seemed to lend themselves to the wonderful pulse of life.  This is how she viewed it.
Card #3, addresses the spirit... 4/cups A lesson you'd like to share
Do not put off something you may regret later.  There's something in her life she didn't finish up on, look into; someone she put off contacting; something she kept putting on the back burner; something she tried to avoid, thinking there was all the time in the world, until there wasn't.
Card #4, addresses the spirit... 6/swords
Something you wish you would've paid attention to
There is a relationship in her life that she wishes she would've been more patient with, a relationship she wishes she would have worked harder at.  She regrets walking away.  She feels that when she did this, her life took on a more nomadic feel about it, that she lacked roots to a particular physical location, or there was a place that she missed and thinking of it would make her feel sad and nostalgic, and homesick.
She felt she couldn't go back, ,that she had burned her bridges.
Card #5, addresses the spirit... 4/swords
A message from this spirit
Slow down.  Don't rush through life so fast that you miss something important.  Don't be afraid to back down from a fight; don't be afraid to be the first one to say "I'm sorry", or the first one to lay down the sword.  Don't be afraid to take time in life to reflect, to rest, to sleep, to dream.
