You appointed your sous chef to run the restaurant while you wanted to work the first few months to get the school lunch system in order. The kitchen facility was much less advanced to what you had access to before and the menu needed a revamp. None of the kids were getting any nutritious meals in and upon further research it was easier to understand why not many students were willing to have their meals here. For the price they were paying, they did not receive food they liked.

The benefit of being from an established restaurant meant you got your own office within the school and it felt empowering. To have your own corner. It felt like as the days passed, your sleeplessness was getting worse and all you could think of was how hard it was to try and be anything else other than what this world expected women to be. You wanted to quit your job or resort to being comfortable with just being in the background.

It was like a new wave of bitterness and futility that had taken every woman by a storm. A few of them were like zombies, not lively as they had once been before. The hallway chatter had died down, a lot of companies began to struggle, all over the world it was becoming more apparent. That if women were taken out of the system, it began to fail on itself.

But through this you were facing another unique challenge on your own. You had asked for time with Ken, to contemplate on that friendship and process his return. You had at minimum expected him to have popped up into your life again to remind you he needed an answer, or buy his way in with treats and flamboyant gestures to convince you he was trying but none of that happened over the past week. He was firstly busy with his schedule but then he never went out of his way to find you. But even if he had done so you would know because you were avoiding him, only out of the need to observe him from afar.

Once the meals for the day and week were sorted all that you needed to do was oversee the execution and make sure the pantry was stocked with the required ingredients while managing the budget. Which gave you a little extra time to snoop around.

You opened up your phone to start the first step, to check if he had any social media presence and your search came up with nothing. He wasn’t anywhere online. He would turn up to school 10 mins early just to be there to welcome the kids who needed to come to library to study and some days would surprise them with a box of donuts.

When you walked down the corridors you would always here the sound of children laughing and him making jokes. The more you observed him to try to find a characteristic that could label him or show you that deep down he was just as bad as any other guy, you couldn’t. There was no flaw.

Come lunch time, he would sit alone to have his meal, his eyes occasionally catching yours when you stood behind the counter and before he could initiate a conversation you would leave, to hide inside the service area.

It was just that when you’ve wanted to be right so badly, admitting defeat to being proven wrong made you feel a lot more humiliated.

You were walking back to your office post the lunch rush when you could hear him down the hallway. His voice animated as he narrated a story and it drew you towards the library door. From the glass window in it, you could seen him, wearing a paper crown while all the other children were gathered around him wearing some form of character related clothing, all taking part in the story telling.

The smile on these toddler’s faces caused you to smile too. But there was one issue that you couldn’t resolve. How was it that he had brought forth a change in himself while you were struggling for it? even after having visited the real world before you did.

“God, he’s so good with kids. It’s unbelievable.”, someone slid up next to you. Turning to see who it was, you found yourself standing next to the school principal.

“He just turned up at my doorstep one day. I was skeptical cause he had no work experience but look at that face.”, she smirked.

You weren’t interested in listening to her take, it astonished you that most failed to value him for his character and only chose to exploit him for his physical beauty.

“Who can stay no to all of that?”, she gossiped but your eyes could only focus on him.

His sandy blonde hair turning golden as it caught the afternoon light, the pastel pink shirt he wore reminded you of where you had come from. It made you feel special, that wherever you were, you and him had that special connection to exist in a world of your own.

“He’s more than that.”, you said confidently to which she hummed half heartedly.

“But just between us girls though. I believe he already has a girlfriend. I tried to kiss him once and he let it slip.”, she shrugged her shoulders as if her comment was well intentioned but it was rather a way of letting you know that you didn’t have any more chance than she did.

“But hey, until I see a ring on that girl’s finger nothing is set in stone.”, she laughed as she patted your arm but you couldn’t find the humor in her statement.

Every day you learnt something new about this city and this place. But to take a step back from your own problems, you only found more. To understand that just as vulnerable as you were, he was too.

As you looked into the class again, his eyes were on you as he settled the kids into their nap time. He stood up, beginning to walk towards you. The hair on your arms stood up with the shameful feeling of having been caught. You weren’t brave enough to stay, to face him. So you bolted the other direction annoyed with yourself that you were behaving like a teenager.

The day was almost over and you were at ease knowing that since today was friday evening, if you snuck out without him knowing, then you had the whole weekend to yourself without this constant gnawing crush feasting on your mind. You couldn’t put yourself through it again, to have him infiltrate your mind. You knew how it went last time, so why try again. You just wanted to snuff before it consumed you whole.

You put away your folders and stepped out after making sure there was no one around. You locked your door and quickly began to walk towards the school entrance, throwing glances over your shoulder keeping a vigilant watch for Ken.

But suddenly you felt a warm hold around your wrist and then a firm tug, which altered your course of direction from the school's entrance to the Janitor’s closet. You were going to scream, absolutely convinced this was an abduction when a hand wrapped around your mouth. Your back rested on his chest as he shushed you, just by the softness of his touch you could tell it was the one man you were trying to hide from.

He watched the crack beneath to door, only to watch a passing shadow and the sound of clicking heels against the floor tiles. But all you could focus on was how his muscles were taut beneath his shirt, his warm breath slipping down the back of your neck and the rhythm of his rapid heart that beat in sync with yours. It was sureal, hearing his heart beat for the first time, it reminded you that he was real.

As the sound faded, he relaxed and let go of you. But you were grateful for the dark, he couldn’t see how deep your cheeks were flushed.

“What were you thinking?”, you whispered quickly.

“I wanted to talk to you.”, he responded.

“You don’t kidnap people for that.”, you gestured around you.

“No, I’ve made sure you don’t take off running again.”, he narrowed his eyes at you.

“Yeah, I see you and your little schemes.”, he continued knowing you remained silent.

“Schemes? What schemes?”, you mumbled as he drew closer, there was no where else to run now, because he had his arms on either side and a mischievous rumble in his voice.

“You’ve been avoiding me, Briella.”, he tilted his head so he could maintain eye contact.

Your palms were sweating, your heart was beating faster than it should, your knees felt weak and some part of you wanted to pull him in closer.

You wanted to deny it so as you thought of an excuse, you opened your mouth to say it but he placed his hand over your lips again. Hearing the sound of the Principal’s heels coming closer again. This felt like a secret mission, that for the first time since setting foot here, you felt the rush of adrenaline. The space was getting a little stuffy as you breathed in sync with him. His eyes finding yours again as you both waited, afraid she was going to open the door and discover you two here, huddled together in a rather compromising exchange.

But the fear turned into a thrill as he grinned and you knew, that there was no use fighting this. He was going to take residence in your mind once again.

i love the carlos theory, but is there evidence??

we must see - for scientific purposes, of course 👀

Apologies at how long it has taken me to prove my theory, but I come bearing proof of Carlos' twinkishness! Firstly, we must consider the definition of twink. This is what wikipedia describes a twink as:

So how does this apply to Carlos? First, let's focus on having a slim physique. Carlos definitely fits this descriptor. I know a lot of you will think I am crazy. 'But Carlos is buff!' You will say. However, this is a misconception. Consider the following;

See how skinny his upper body is compared to his race suit? In the bottom image you can see its like a centimetre or two thick fabric which pads him out a bit. I think the video of him walking to the podium after Miami 2022 really exemplifies this:

I think because we usually see Carlos in a race suit, we perceive him as bulkier. Not convinced by this alone? Lets actually compare him to an F1 driver usually called a twink, Charles.

See how they're actually about the same size and body shape? If anything, Carlos has a slimmer waist than Charles, and both are about the same in terms of muscle. Lets compare him with an F1 driver not considered a twink by the masses, Pierre in terms of muscle:

Carlos is pretty bulky arm wise, but just look at how crazy huge and defined Pierre's muscles are. If you look at more pictures of Pierre he's much bigger than Carlos or Charles in size. Look at this guy!

So if Carlos is closer to Charles, a known twink, than Pierre, i think its safe to say he is much more twinkish than we give him credit for. But i'm not even done. Carlos has in fact been DECEIVING you by being an athlete and having muscles, under all that he is built like a twig. You can see this when he was younger. Look at this. If you're willing to do some digging back to his karting days, you can see before he started lifting he was weirdly long and built fairly skinny.

So that completes the 'slim' part. Next is youthful appearance/age. Carlos is nearly 30, but as Wikipedia states you don't have to be an older teen or in your early twenties to be a twink. It's about the presentation, and Carlos certainly fits that youthful vibe with his always messy hair, toothy smile, and big eyes. He also likes to rough house and push people around as a sign of affection, which just screams young guy to me lol.

Next is body hair. I admit my theory hits a slight snag here, as we all know Carlos is hairy af. However, we also all know he's dedicated to waxing every last piece of chest hair off. It's harder to find a picture of a hairy Carlos compared to the many pictures of him with no body hair at all. So I think we can say he's pushing himself towards a twink vibe with this. (below picture isn't the best to illustrate how much he shaves his chest i just think its funny)

Finally, flamboyancy. Defined as 'tending to attract attention because of their exuberance, confidence, and stylishness.' This is Carlos to a T. He's always confident, perhaps not super 'stylish' but he does have a good dress sense and seems to know what clothes suit him, and he's been proven to be quite excitable and exuberant when hanging out with friends. I think his hypercompetitiveness shows this as well. Is this picture not the epitome of careless confidence and flamboyance?

So. There is my evidence. Agree or disagree as you will. I will say he is probably more a twunk than all out twink, but he for sure has some twink in him. Here's a few last pictures to really try and convince you, but for now, ciao.

I feel like I need to preface this by saying that Actually, Izzy Is Straightcoded would be the inflammatory clickbait title I'd give this if it were written to draw traffic & ad revenue to my shitty website. So don't take that term too seriously.

There has been a lot of ink spilled about Izzy thinking he's in a story where one can only be subtextually queer. Some even by yours truly, but the more I think about it, the less sense it makes. What would be the purpose of queercoding Izzy?

In general, villains* aren't queercoded to show that men being attracted to other men is bad. It's often the outcome; but it's not why the trope exists. It exists because cishet people tend to be (and are encouraged to be) profoundly uncomfortable with gender nonconformity, and so, making a character gnc becomes a quick and easy way to make him appear twisted and untrustworthy. If he** can't even obey the fundamental rules of his own gender (rules that are inherent and unchangeable!) what other rules does he disobey?

Or: If a man is insufficiently masculine, he can't be trusted to have morals. The villain isn't gnc because that's an evil trait to have; rather, the gender nonconformity is a symptom of his evilness. Being evil is what enables him to embrace his feminine side, and embracing his feminine side is what others him and marks him as a villain.

This only really works when he's contrasted with a hero (or heroine) who is Doing Gender Correctly. The villain is foul to highlight how good the hero is. The Hero will be honest and straightforward, brave, physically powerful; the Queercoded Villain treacherous, cowardly, and physically weak. The hero is a Proper Man, a Good Person. The villain an Improper Man, and therefore, a Bad Person.

Of course ofmd fundamentally rejects this. The shorthand wouldn't work, because ofmd simply doesn't think effeminacy is creepy. It's uninterested in moralizing self-expression; it just lets people be how they are. There's a wide range of expressions of masculinity on this show, and none of it is inherently bad. People are allowed to be hypermasculine, flamboyant, and anything inbetween, can express their gender in whatever manner they want, and it's all fine - as long as they are authentic about it. Be however you are, but be yourself, and this is what Izzy fails at. The repression marks him as a villain. The strict adherence to what he thinks a Real Man Pirate ought to be like. He's very preoccupied with enforcing a traditional (and toxic) masculinity on himself and others. It's no coincidence the characters he antagonizes the most - Stede and Lucius - are also the most effeminate ones. And I know, I know anglophones have a much more casual relationship to twat and cunt, those don't nearly feel as uncomfortable for y'all as they do for me, so I don't want to assign too much significance here, but he is the only character who constantly uses this kind of language, and also the one who uses the most gender&sexuality based slurs (as far as I remember).

All of this while being clearly, obviously queer himself! I do not feel like I need to explain this; his flustered reaction when Lucius asks him if he's ever been sketched speaks for itself. The fact that he meets Stede and immediately slices his shirt off of him, speaks for itself. And so on.

Izzy isn't straightcoded in the sense that the story wants us to believe he's exclusively attracted to women. Much like a queercoded villain doesn't need to be shown to be attracted to men (and can even be shown to be attracted exclusively to women!) to still be queercoded. He's straightcoded in the sense that he's a stand-in for restrictive and toxic gender roles that society enforces on people. He buys into the idea that there's a way of Doing Gender Wrong, and this is presented as a tragic character flaw. Something he has to overcome to be able to do the thing that actually marks a hero in this show: express himself authentically.

Part of why I found his death so moving is because it enables him to set right the toxicity he spread. His rehabilitation arc was about himself; about finally allowing himself to be, accepting love, accepting community. His death was about taking responsibility. About fully recognizing the hurt he caused. Looking death in the face enables him to finally abandon the last shreds of that toxicity, to apologize and be granted forgiveness. In the end, he was not beyond saving, and the harm he has done will be healed.

*Izzy is introduced as an antagonist to both Stede and the central romance of this romcom. I'm not gonna debate this; if you disagree, fine, but you clearly have such a fundamentally wrong different view of the show that it's pointless for us to try and convince each other.

Lights up at the mentions of crocheting, dogs, and weird but oddly alluring creatures around Devildom.

She does have a small habit of gambling when out with Mammon, but is actually able to keep her wins because no one expects it through her gold-winning smile.

Lilith the 2nd (3rd born-1st triplet) (she/her)-21

I headcannon Lucifer to at least be the only one to name their daughter after their sister. Not to replace, never, but to honor her.

Softer on the younger kids but will smack a bitch if they act up.

Cant play video games much cause eyes so turns to more physical games that include puzzles.

Likes games with strategy to follow like War tanks, or chess. Is the type to make a DnD game the best cause he makes amazing stories too despite not reading much.

Likes mystery shows too and tries to figure it out before the answer is revealed, could go on rants about why. Gets it right 11/10 times.

If Leviathan wasnt his biological dad, people would believe he was Satan's kid.

Asmo just thought Quinn was a pretty name so picked it lol.

Also a nice balance between human/demon. Tho his wings stay out constantly.

Laid back personality but is an outgoing dude.

Also very protective of their siblings, and will not hesitate to cut a bitch.

Isnt as flamboyant as Asmo but does have a just as great fashion sense.

Has a hard time dating as people automatically assume hes just like Asmo so will try to date him for that reason only.

Love his dad but hates the reputation he gets because of being said son.

So he resorts to just sticking to his siblings or the few friends he trusts.

Besides MC, is the second most popular face to pop up on Asmo's Devilgram

Fucking adores axolotls for no particular reason, just loves them to no end which Asmo makes sure to get many axolotl themed plushes, shirts, etc. for him.

Libbey(Liberty) (5th Born- 3rd triplet)(she/her)-21

Another balance between human/demon, maybe a tad more on the demon side.

Tho, also has "mutations" like very enhanced hearing.

Bookworm to the max

Loves reading dramas and fantasies, but seems to enjoy multiseries more than stand alone.

Very quiet and shy kid of the group.

Sometimes cant even talk so signs instead because earaches or headaches.

Likes cats but perfers reptiles more.

Has a small turtle in her room from the human realm, set it up beside her bed and everything. Their name is Casey after one of her favorite human novels she read.

But despite all this, isnt called the daughter of wrath just for nothing beside biology reasons.

Is like Satan 2.0 when pissed, she wont yell or scream but you can just tell from the drop of room temperature and the subtle tilt of her head.

Her eyes glow an electric green when shes pissed.

Had more anger issues when younger, but cause Satan knew how to handle his better now, taught her how to aswell.

Satan is probably the main one to understand her issues with such a problem, despite being more mellowed out now that shes older.

Is definitely a cryer when really angry tho.

Ryder(6th Born) (1st twin)- 19

Ngl, everyone was surprised that they had twins. Including Belphie himself.

But then again, they did have triplets before them so....eh?

Ryder is a tad more human than demon, but still powerful enough to have his own demon form like his older siblings.

His tail is seen smaller than Belphie's, and a bit thinner too.

The sloth genes affact him only so much, making him more likely just want to procrastinate then outright not do anything.

He honestly enjoys the human world more than Devildom, mainly cause everything is less..hectic per say.

Hes the type of brother/older friend that will cover for ya if you have to hide something but will subtly suggest how to fix whatever their doing.

Like one time Quinn came home slightly tipsy and past curfew, and he snuck them into his room. Though he scolded them in the morning, he covered for Quinn at breakfast, saying they ate too much sugar last night, thats why hes queasy and has a headache.

Quinn did fix that habit up quick after Ryder threatened to leave him on his own next time it happened.

Calls everyone bro or dude, no matter their gender.

Gen z vibes too in most areas.

Has a fixation with cow bells for some reason, likes the noise is all he can say.

If he were told what Belphie did to their mom/human parent way before they were born, he says "Cowabummer" while screaming inside.

River(7th born-2nd twin)(they/them)-19

How is this Belphie's kid?

Too hyper, tad crazy

Probably has ADHD, who knows.

While Ryder is the slightly responsible twin, their the reason why Ryder needs to be said twin.

Their just about the same range of human/demon as Ryder, can have a demon form, but only uses it to fuck with people than to actually be scary with it.

They may have alot of power, but their personality alone can kill people.

Is the type of kid to crawl on the ceiling when they were 2.

Is also the type to hop outta window to get to the lower floor faster. Thank Belphie for their demon powers otherwise we'd have another Lillith situation.

Has scared even Lucifer at one point, has made him yelp out of surprise. Will not go on how, no matter how much Papa Satan and Belphie ask them. Just has a toothy grin when they ask.

When calm, is actually a pretty chill dude. They like odd patterns and get fixated on the most random things.

MC gave them one of those sand timers that you flip to restart and when she came down to tell them food was done about 2 hours later, she found them sitting on the table, holding it while watching the sand go down. They use it now to relax and focus on when overstimultated or just having too much of a fuzzy head.

Has spent nearly a how week with Leviathan because they got hooked on one anime with him. Now has frequent solo movie nights with him cause.

"They're tad confused, but got the spirit"

Literally had to have someone (Rhomb) explain to them what the LGBTQ+ letters meant. Legit thought it was just new alphabet pattern, was still happy to find out what it all means.

If you told them what Belphie did to their mom before they were born, they'd think it as a joke. Dont tell them otherwise or they will cry.

Frankie(8th Born)(She/her)-16

Everyone thought that she would be the biggest child when MC was pregnant with her, since y'know, it was confirmed Beel's kid.

Yeah, she came out small. Like scary small for a baby.

It was then everyone knew she would be the most human. Has a little demon in her, but clearly not enough to have a demon form nor mark.

Lucifer's wallet cried in relief.

She does eat a good bit more than the average human but overall, nothing compared to Beel.

She does adore sweets to the max, especially gummies. Give her some and she'll love you forever.

Sweetest little sunshine in the world, everyone adores her. If they dont, then they will soon.

Shes like Mirabel in encanto, kinda wishes she had more demon powers but is still overall happy with who she is.

When her a Beel are with each other- OH MY DIAVOLO, THE CAVITIES PEOPLE GET- TOO DAMN SWEET AND PURE

Like big papa Beel and his sweet little girl all smiley and pure. Best father-daughter relationship out of all the siblings and fathers.

Shes kinda like pinkie pie from MLP but like more hyper as fuck. Can and will speak so fast when excited that it just comes out as squeaks at that point.

Since her more human side, shes more likely to stay in human world when their mom is on Buisness there, so she has alot of human friends.

Shes in gymnastics, which definitely helps keep her figure more smaller despite all the sweets she eats. Does work out with Beel too.

Mess with her and you have a whole army on yer ass.

Oh, you know Rick’s eyes are TWITCHING. The paper bag in his hand, packed with lunch from your favourite stop, crumpling in his grasp, almost tearing at the top. Not the food though, he’s not trying to ruin his wife’s favourite.

But he’s chill. Absolutely chill. He swears.

Benny and Santi just had to stop by the same time he came home from work, both leaning against the white porch railing while you sat prettily on the bench.

Benny was expressive in whatever he was talking about, likely his last boxing match from the way he was holding the air in a headlock before the three of you shared a laugh. As much of a troublemaker they were, they were your friends, after all. He’d chase them off his property or warn them with a glare any day if it meant cutting off any form of ‘allegiances’ with that horrible past, both yours and his.

Just when you were about to reply to God knows what they asked, you noticed Rick lingering by the mailbox. Your eyes lit up, and it didn’t take the duo any other hints to know that he was home.

“Rick!” You enthusiastically waved at your husband, beckoning him to sit on the bench next to you. Rick couldn’t help but smile back at you, walking over and ignoring the two until he reached the top step of the stairs.

“Boys.” He greeted them, going over to shake Santiago’s hand before Benny’s, flexing his hands as they shook to see if the other would break. None did, as usual, pulling away and somewhat putting the tension on hold in favour of you. Rick took a seat next to you, passing you the bag of food and a soft ‘there y’go, baby’ (but not really, he made sure the two would hear it).

It took a few seconds, making sure he greeted you with a kiss before stretching his arm to lay on the backrest behind you.

“So, what’s the occasion?”

“The boys just came over to say hi. Gave me these flowers from the flower shop nearby,” You raised the calla lilies that were resting on your lap. Now, Rick was no flower specialist, but he has been to the shop countless times to buy you your own fix.

And if he remembered correctly, they generally represented beauty.

Well played.

“And Santi was just telling me about this new Cuban restaurant just outside the neighbourhood.” You continued, turning to Santiago with an encouraging smile so he could tell Rick about it.

“Cuban restaurant, huh?”

Santiago curtly nodded to his curiosity.

“The best. Might even be your new favourite once you both try it.” He explained, only to glance at the paper bag Rick was holding—a look that was almost… Judgemental? Critical? All of the above? All Rick knew that the man before him was silently scoffing at his choice.

And, well, Santi wouldn’t exactly deny that claim, either.

Rick didn’t hide the scoff, only to pair it with a faux smile so you could take it as nothing more than a harmless banter, “Gotta be real good then. ‘Cause this here,” He cocked his head in the paper bag’s direction, “Is my wife’s favourite place. Our favourite place.”

Rick not only had to watch out for the bold claim Santi was making, but he also had to bear in mind the sight of Benny openly looking at you like a lovestruck puppy. The promising boxer didn’t even care about the passive-aggressive argument going on around him. He was just appreciating the beaut in front of him.

(Man’s just doesn’t give a shit atm).

“Hey, I’m not here to burst your bubble,” Santi huffed in amusement, raising his hands in a defensive way, “But I’m not trying to give the pretty girl any mediocre recommendations either. C’mon Flag, you, of all people, should know that we want the best for her.”

“Aw, Santi, you’re too kind.” You were touched and it showed, and Rick couldn’t argue with the statement. Without a doubt, he wants what was best for you, be it food, comfortable clothes, gourmet treats for the fucking neighbourhood cat you adore—anything.

In the midst of their silent argument, you reached for Rick’s hand, holding his larger ones in between yours, “I’m sure Rick and I will enjoy it,” He mirrored the warm smile as you stared into each other’s eyes for a moment, only to break when you addressed the two, “And if it’s as good as you said it is, we might as well have a get together.”

Oh.

You were growing concerned of the two’s silence, eyes darting back and forth and almost—almost asking what was wrong until Benny, as if snapped out of his trance, finally, spoke up.

“Absolutely.” Benny raised his hand in a manner that a believer would in church.

sweeney todd round 3 details (nicholas christopher, delaney westfall, joe locke) 🥹

- first of all, a huge congratulations to the adorable and ungodly talented joe locke on an amazing broadway debut. when he started singing in pirelli’s i said “holy shit he sounds REALLY good” out loud. that VOICE!!! his voice is so beautiful, his accent and movements were perfect, and he really just nailed it overall. his ‘not while i’m around’ actually destroyed me. he sang it so gorgeously IN THE OBC KEY and was so genuinely our courageous, protective, vulnerable little guy. at the end he hugged mrs lovett and collapsed into her lap and i just melted :,,)

- AHHH nik and delaney. they are so good together!!!! they give such a classic sweeney and lovett vibe because they read as literally insane. just absolutely unhinged little devils. they know exactly what they’re doing and they enjoy it. it’s definitely a contrast to josh and annaleigh who read more as normal people who got themselves into an insane situation.

- delaney… omg. she’s a gorgeous little thing but she is fierce. she’s loud, brash, maternal, and sexy all at once. she’s very belty and she has this beautiful BEAUTIFUL vibrato. her lovett was super energetic and scrappy and tough as nails. but her love for nik’s sweeney was so softening and beautiful. she felt like a lansbury x ashford hybrid and i adored it.

- nik was absolutely wonderful. i loved that his sweeney sounds much more australian than british, it kind of makes him stranger and more mysterious. he was cold and angry and often stoic so he was definitely more unsettling than josh. and still, sometimes he’d let those delicious little peaks into his love shine through. i felt for him and absolutely believed him. but he really was chilling. his movements, his anger, his sadness, his MANIC MOMENTS!!! holy shit. everyone was screaming for a whole minute after his epiphany because it really was crazy. on “nor a hundred can assuage me i will have you” HE WENT UP A WHOLe STEP AND BELTED IT OUT HELLO he was fucking terrifying.

- whenever he and mrs. lovett are sharing an intimate little moment and someone walks in, nik really snaps up and tries to act normal. it makes them look so suspicious and i love it 👀

- the jump into hell really really got me today idk why. it always hits, but today it just made me burst into tears and start screaming my head off. them finally surrendering to eachother and just taking that final leap together. idk. it went really hard.

- daniel torres was on as pirelli and he’s gotta be in my top 3 fav ensemble members so i was SUPER excited. and he devoured. SO flamboyant and vocals were excellent.

Hi! Thank you for the follow and for the request! I apologize for taking so long to get to this one, but I really had fun with it. It ended up getting a bit long. I hope you and everyone else enjoys this as much as I did writing it!

Slightly spicy, but nothing too bad.

Foolish

I stood at the gates of Kasugayama Castle, waiting to greet our guest. “Awe, are you my welcoming party, Princess?”

I smiled at Keiji as he approached the gate. “Yeah, everyone else is busy, so I volunteered to be your tour guide for the day.” I said.

Keiji grinned as he threw an arm around my shoulders in that flamboyant friendly way of his. “Sounds good to me. Though I’m surprised Kanetsugu didn’t come with you.”

“He has a lot of work to do.” I replied, laughing at Keiji as I shoved him away. “He did say he was going to try and finish up early so he could join us for tea later.”

“Sounds like that ole sour puss.” Keiji said grinning. “Alright, show me a good time Princess!”

I laughed again and began to take Keiji through the halls of Kasugayama. “So, how’s everyone back in Azuchi?” I asked.

“Everything’s going pretty great.” Keiji answered. “If Lord Nobunaga hadn’t ordered it, Hideyoshi was gonna be here. He wanted to try to convince you to come back home.”

“I should probably write him more often. Let him know that I’m doing good and that Kanetsugu is taking VERY excellent care of me.” I replied, making that a mental note.

“He’d probably just assume you’re being forced.” Keiji replied. “He’ll be okay, though.”

“I hope so.” I replied.

We talked more as we walked around. When we arrived at the training hall, Keiji gave me a grin. “Hey, you been keeping up on your training?” He asked me. Sometime before I came to Echigo, I had begun spear training with Keiji and the new recruits back in Azuchi.

“Oh…well I don’t really get to practice that much.” I replied.

“Well, since I’m here why don’t we take the opportunity to brush up on your training then?” Keiji replied. “Be a fun way to pass the time.”

“Well…alright.” I agreed after a moment. “I just need to go change first.”

“I’ll wait here.” Keiji replied.

I went to mine and Kanetsugu’s room and changed into a light linen top and some “leggings” I had made for myself back when I was still in Azuchi. It was all specifically for training. Much easier to move in. I returned to the training room and Keiji and I both picked up some practice spears…which were just wooden staffs really.

“Alright, Princess, let’s see what you remember.” Keiji said, grinning at me.

Keiji and I started going through the stances. I was surprised by how automatically my body seemed to move. I guess muscle memory counts for something!

“Doing pretty good there!” Keiji encouraged me.

“I’m surprised by how much I remember.” I replied, grinning. “Let’s see what else I can remember!”

“Haha! That’s the spirit!”

Kanetsugu…

Kanetsugu managed to finish up his work for the day…incredibly early for him in fact. He knew Keiji was coming and spending time with the Oda princess. While Keiji was his friend… he couldn’t help but to feel a twinge of jealousy at the thought of his lover spending time so close to another man.

Kanetsugu took note of the time and headed to the room where the pair would likely be having tea…only to find that they weren’t there. One of the soldiers passing by. “Lord Kanetsugu, if you’re looking for the princess and Lord Keiji, they’re in the training hall.”

“What on earth are they doing there?” Kanetsugu asked.

“Spear training.” The soldier answered.

“Keiji is showing off as always.” Kanetsugu muttered as he began to head towards the training hall.

The soldier started following him. “Not just Lord Keiji. The princess is pretty capable, too.”

Kanetsugu stopped in his tracks. “What?”

“The princess is training with Lord Keiji.”

Kanetsugu blinked. He recalled his lover telling him that she’d previously trained with Keiji, but she hadn’t seemed interested in doing that again or at least not that she’d told him. He had assumed it was something that had been thrust upon her by the Oda.

“Lord Kanetsugu…”

Kanetsugu mentally shook himself. “I’m fine.” He replied and then started marching off towards the training room, his pace may or may not have picked up a bit.

As he got closer, Kanetsugu could hear Keiji’s boisterous voice. “Your form is great, Princess.” Keiji said. “You sure you haven’t been practicing?”

“I guess it’s muscle memory.” She replied.

Kanetsugu picked up his pace, a frown instantly creasing his brow at Keiji complimenting her form…and just how pleased she sounded. He slid open the door and stepped inside the training hall. He saw his lover and Keiji standing beside each other, going through some stances with practice spears.

His eyes couldn’t help but to notice the way his lover looked in a thin linen top and tight pants that were similar to the ones Keiji wore. Her hair was up in a bun, but strands were falling in places. Her skin was glistening with sweat from the exertion of the training, reminding him of how she looked after a passionate night in their shared bed.

He didn’t like that another man was seeing her looking like this. Though perhaps what bugged him even more was the happy grin she was wearing as she looked at Keiji.

“What are you two doing?” Kanetsugu asked, keeping his tone cool and level. He would make sure no one could see the storm that was brewing beneath the surface.

Both turned to him, the smile on the Princess’s face becoming even bigger as she looked at him. “Kanetsugu!” She said, her voice showing she was happy to see him.

Keiji was grinning his usual smile. “I figured there was no way a workaholic like you would be finished in time to spend any time with us.” Keiji replied. “So I decided to see if the princess had been keeping up on her training.”

“I see.” Kanetsugu replied.

“Well, now that you’re finished we can go have tea.” The princess said. “I’ll just need to washup and change first.”

“No that’s alright.” Kanetsugu said. He wasn’t sure what exactly it was…curiosity perhaps to see this side of his lover, but his next words surprised him. “I’d like to stay and observe your training. I know you mentioned it before, but I didn’t realize it was something you had taken so seriously.”

A lovely flush came to her cheeks and a bashful smile graced her lips. She had no idea what that look did to him…what thoughts it put in his head.

Before she could speak, Keiji was speaking up. “Sounds good to me. And yeah, the princess here was my best student!” He was then patting a hand on her back…a far too familiar hand for Kanetsugu’s taste.

“Well, continue with your training then.” Kanetsugu replied, moving to a spot where he could better observe. He leaned back against the wall, arms crossed over his chest in an effort to hold himself in place.

“Alright, you heard the man!” Keiji declared. “Let’s get back to it.”

The princess smiled at nodded. “Alright!” She declared in a voice that showed she was determined and ready to go…though that slight flush remained on her cheeks.

Kanetsugu watched as the two continued to go through the stances and exercises. The princess did indeed have a good form. He was surprised to see how well she wielded the practice spear. She moved as someone who had trained for quite sometime.

“Alright, let’s see if you can remember some of the more advanced stuff.” Keiji declared leading her into another exercise.

She did well once again. Though Kanetsugu did notice one stance she had a bit of trouble with. Keiji as her trainor noticed this as well. “That’s good, but ya gotta move your hands more like this.” Keiji said, showing her where her hands should be positioned by demonstrating himself.

She nodded and moved her hands. “Here?” She asked.

“No, here let me help you.” Keiji replied, setting his spear aside and then moving to stand behind the princess. “First relax into it a bit more…” He said, a hand coming to her back and adjusting her posture. “Spread your feet just a bit wider, but not much…”

As Kanetsugu watched this, he could feel the rage bubbling up inside of him. He didn’t care that this was for training purposes…another man was touching HIS lover…and right in front of him! He did his best to contain that rage.

“Alright now,” Keiji went on, his arms going around the princess and his hands resting on hers, “you’ll wanna move your hands here…” He was then sliding her hands along the staff into the proper position.

Kanetsugu couldn’t help but to notice just how close Keiji was to the princess. Keiji’s head was even lowered so that his face was right next to hers…and she still had that flush on her cheeks. Was she liking this? He couldn’t stand it a second longer.

“I think that’s enough.” Kanetsugu declared.

Both Keiji and the princess looked at him, shocked expressions on their faces at the sound of his clipped tone. Keiji was then grinned as he pulled back from the princess. “Got it.” He said, clearly understanding what was going on.

The princess looked at him, confused. “Kanetsugu…” She asked, slowly lowering the practice spear.

Keiji was quickly taking the spear from her as Kanetsugu came over and took her hand in his. “Come on.” Kanetsugu said, tugging on her hand to lead her from the room.

“But…” She began to protest.

“Don’t worry, I’ll clean up here, Princess.” Keiji declared.

“He’ll be fine. I’ll send someone to show him to his guest room later.” Kanetsugu told her.

“O…okay.” She replied and waved back to Keiji, who was just grinning at the two.

Kanetsugu led the princess out of the training hall and quickly pulled her into a deserted corridor. He moved quickly, pinning her against the wall and pressing his body to hers. “You foolish girl.” He muttered before claiming her lips in a hard kiss.

“Mmmnn!” She gasped into the kiss as she parted her lips for his quickly intruding tongue.

Kanetsugu firmly held her, his hands running over her body as he deepened the kiss. His lips parted from hers only to trail down the side of her neck…he couldn’t seem to control himself and his teeth were soon scraping her over her flesh, leaving marks. He wanted to mark her…to claim her.

“Kanet…sugu…” She gasped, her body responding of its own accord to his ministrations. He opened the collar of her shirt and allowed his lips and teeth to explore her collarbone and cleavage.

Kanetsugu pulled back, looking at her with a feverish need burning in his eyes. He could see her panting against the wall and his desire only seemed to grow. She was panting and sweating, her cheeks glowing and her eyes filled with desire and confusion, tears already seeming to glisten at the corners. Her clothes disheveled from his own work. He wanted more…and it was clear she would let him.

“Kanetsugu…?” She asked, her breathy voice filled with a mixture of confusion and desire and longing. “Wha…what’s…going on?”

Kanetsugu sighed as he leaned his head down, forehead coming to rest on her shoulder. “How else am I supposed to react to another man touching you?” He replied. “And even worse when you’re smiling and blushing at him…”

“Oh…” She gasped. She was then moving her hands to cup his face between them and forcing him to pull back and look at her. “So, you know Keiji is my friend and only my friend.” She began. “So yeah I was happy to see him and happy to work on training again…but the blushing…well that was…because YOU were watching.”

Kanetsugu blinked. “What…”

The princess now turned away, a bashful expression on her face. “Well, how else is a girl supposed to feel when the man she loves most in all the world is watching her? I didn’t want to embarrass myself in front of you…”

A gentle smile came to Kanetsugu’s face. He brought a hand to her chin, coaxing her gaze back to his. “We’re both fools.” He declared before capturing her lips once more.

She responded to the kiss, wrapping her arms around him. When they broke the kiss, she was smiling up at him. “I love you, Kanetsugu.”

“I love you, too.” He replied. He was then helping her to straighten her top back out. “Let’s get this fixed…I can’t have anyone else seeing you like this while we head back to our room.”

Her eyes widened. “It’s the middle of the day…”

“I don’t care. I can’t contain myself much longer…not after all of that.” He replied.

The princess smiled, her cheeks reddening but her eyes with desire. “Well…I’m not really sure I can wait either.”

Kanetsugu let out a groan. “When you say things like that…”

The pair worked to quickly straighten themselves out and were hurriedly making their way to their bedroom…where they wouldn’t leave until the next morning.

when I started shipping it if I did:

I was definitely having thoughts about them when the show was still airing...

my thoughts:

This is one of those ships that I think I'm more...particular about than some other fans of it. Or maybe my preferences aren't as in line with the broader headcanons, idk. I guess we'll find out in this ask game

What makes me happy about them:

They fall into that beautiful category of 'rivals who are forced to occasionally rely on each other' and I EAT THAT SHIT UP. But on a more sincere note - even if they'd struggle at first to connect, I like to think that they're willing to hold each other accountable to their flaws. They have no hang-ups about calling it out when one of them fucks up, but they both (Vlad especially) could benefit from some vulnerability and honesty like that.

What makes me sad about them:

Not sure there is anything tbh???

things done in fanfic that annoys me:

Ok this is where I might be getting into some unpopular opinions but I'm really not a fan of the over-exaggeration of some of Vlad's characteristics, like making him extra flamboyant or shallow or leaning SUPER hard into tropey-single-bachelor things (typically for the sake of humor). I get he's literally a cartoon villain, so feeding into his tropes is kind of expected, but as someone who came to like Vlad because he's actually got some genuine emotions under his flawless suit and ponytail, I really don't vibe with those more 2-dimensional interpretations of him. I enjoy him for his pathetic side as much as anyone else, but there's a limit to everything for me. Also any fic where Danny grows up and gets super tall or beefy is...not for me. That boy is a beanpole and he always will be.

things I look for in fanfic:

If it's written by @9haharharley1 (kidding but totally not kidding). I tend to gravitate either to the ones where they're established and toe the line between sincerity and 'we were rivals once so the mockery can never die,' OR ones where they're still rivals and Vlad manages to catch Danny off guard and has some fun. Also, topVlad/bottomDanny exclusively.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:

Outside the realm of pompep, I think Vlad just needs to remain single and remember how to have friends. Maybe him and Skulker can elevate their business partnership to something more. Danny...needs to go to college and learn some things about himself imo. Him and Sam really don't feel like they'll last, but maybe if he did some exploring in college he'd find someone to be with.

My happily ever after for them:

I'm not sure I can fully imagine one for them? Not in the sense that it couldn't happen, but I just really like living in the part of their relationship where they're still imperfect and growing together and figuring out how to fit their lives together. Looking beyond that is...not as interesting to me, I guess.

who is the big spoon/little spoon:

I could see it either way, tbh. Danny sliding over to be a big spoon to steal Vlad's warmth, or curling up as the little spoon when he's needing to feel safe/protected.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity:

Sparring - they know the other can take it if they get serious, so it's a good mutual challenge and way to let off steam. Maybe stargazing if they're feeling extra peaceful that night.

Beauty by Hubert and Kerascoët

Not Simple by Natsume Ono

“Ian, a young man with a fractured family history, travels from Australia to England to America in the hope of realizing his dreams and reuniting with his beloved sister. His story unfolds backwards through the framing narrative of Jim, a reporter driven to capture Ian’s experiences in a novel: not simple. A story within a story, a book within a book, a tale about the search for family, for an emotional home.” (This one has some really dark themes, highly recommended looking up content warnings before you read. It WILL make you cry, but it’s one of the most beautifully plotted novels I’ve ever read. Also the art style rules.)

Not even gonna bother to introduce this one cause it’s so famous but if you’ve never read the Hobbit, I highly recommend it. Especially because bookstores are always making pretty gilded versions of the book cause it’s so famous.

A short story but: Ligeia by Edgar Allen Poe (sorry I know he sucked) but that short story and the poem it features left a big impression on me. I feel like I can’t describe what the story is about without spoiling it, but if you like stories about mysterious and beautiful women who are involved with the supernatural and death, then you might like this short story!

Okay last one since I don’t want to make this list too long (I have a lot more recommendations if you’d like, these were the first that came to mind!)

Snotgirl by Bryan Lee O’Malley and Leslie Hung

I’m struggling to find a description for the series as a whole, probably because it’s still slowly being released and it comes out in monthly issues (you can usually find the issues compiled into graphic novel format in bookstores, which I still need to get, I only have the issues) But basically it’s about a social media influencer named Lottie Person. She gets wrapped up in a sapphic supernatural romance with a big mystery element. If you’re a fan of the famed “toxic yuri” then this is the series for you, 100%. I’ve actually been meaning to do a re-read 👀

OURGHHH Yomi. Okay this is gonna be a lot but lets-a go yahoo

Alright first off, first impression of him.

His introduction was literally golden. From his and Martina's Akira reference to Yomi fake-sobbing before coldly ordering Seth to be executed. I was kicking my feet. He immediately shot to my top favorite (before being kicked down again by Yuma and Makoto) but I absolutely enjoyed what an evil little gremlin he was from the very beginning. Honestly, one of the best introductions of a villain I've ever seen.

Next, headcanons. I think he was a theatre kid in high school. I'm saying this from experience. Every theatre kid goes through a little phase where they're evil and flamboyant it comes with the title. Yomi's just went on a little too long, silly silly boy. OH and I think he has chew toys. Being evil is stressful he's gotta chew on smth or else he'll just take it out on an underling, yk?

As for complaints and praise... weeeell, I thought his takedown was a little... anti-climatic? Like on the one hand, I'm very happy for Martina to get to send him to jail. You go girl. But also, he just sorta... accepts being arrested? I wanted him to resist more. Kicking scratching and screaming, yk?? He did a little of that but not much. And I wish we'd seen him in the epilogue, maybe as a small little shot of him in jail being all pouty. As for praise, I really love how fun-to-hate he is. The game makes it very clear he's horrible and you can't really sympathize with him, but also, he's just so fun to watch. Like. What's wrong with him *twirls hair*

Favorite pairing, hmmmmmmmmmm. Initially it was Makoyomi, but rn it's a three-way tie between Makoyomi, Yomiakou, and Hellxander. These dynamics are all just... really fascinating in all honesty. I want to study them. I'm so glad this fandom enjoys toxic yaoi I think I would go insane if there wasn't a plethora of content for these weirdos.

And finally, my overall opinion. He's my wife. My evil scrunkly meow meow. I'm gonna put a collar on him and cook him a yummy dinner while he's chained to a chair. Also his English VA is amazing and did a wonderful job making Yomi iconic, I'm planning on playing Raincode again but with JP voices to compare. He's the silliest villain I've ever seen. They did a great job with his writing, I think. He just, immediately grabs you- and when you look deeper into him it's genuinely so interesting and fun.

OKAY NOW FOR SHIPS.

Yomi x Seth is definitely an interesting ship for me. I don't actively think about it but when I come across content of them, my brain goes "fuck yeah". Sadly their interactions don't give us much to go off of as much as other pairs, but it's always a joy to see.

Hellxander. My beloved. Finding Fake!Zilch in the factory and hearing him ramble about Yomi was eye opening. Kodaka did not need to have that in there but it's there and it's amazing. I wish Yomi had a line or something about Zilch, I want to know how he feels about the guy. Was it a parasocial type of thing??? Was Yomi leading him along??? Please Kodaka. Yomi DLC where we visit Kanai Ward and Yomi is doing community service and having flashbacks to his old gay lover Hitman and he cries in the rain "I hate that ugly bowl cut detective!!!!!!! Curse you Yuma the Kokohead!!!!!!!"

Fake!Zilch x Seth isn't something I've ever really thought about, but I can kinda see a dynamic there. Frail little guy x tough hitman? Yeah that's certainly a good dynamic. I just don't know if this particular case would really... grab me?

And Yomi x Fake!Zilch x Seth... yeah I think that's just torture for Seth. Which is fine I like torturing the guy. I can definitely see Yomi being like "lol that seth guy is soooo funny to torment" and zilch is like "do you want me to torment him director yomi. Anything for you director yomi" and Seth is like "can I please just do my job. Please. Please"
