the family friends from my dad's hometown told us that this week they had to host this exchange student from belgium of north african descent given his name (elias) and i'm obsessed like imagine going to spain for a week and arriving in alicante's airport thinking you're gonna be in this pretty area by the sea and then you get to this 5k inhabitants town in the middle of the mountains where everyone speaks in valencian and is preparing some kind of festivities that involve muslim iconography

#like they just sent us to the group chat this kid doing the 'marcha mora' with a bunch of other kids through the countryside #THE MARCHA MORA 💀#i would do anything to be in that town right now and see all of the reactions of the kids #cause there's about 20 of them from different countries (belgium finland and turkey)#like just the idea of them meeting my grandmother is so freaking funny #or the señoras asking them 'i tu de qui ets?'#the kid who's gonna go on the exchange to belgium (the 2 meters tall 14 year old) was describing how it all would play out the other night #and it was so funny #he was like 'i'm gonna look him in the eye and say 'you've been bamboozled' ('te han timao')'#and like 'i'm gonna tell them 'you know what the town's name comes from conill (rabbit in catalan) because we eat RABBIT' all of this with #a mad look on his eyes #anyways i'm sure elias is gonna remember it all for a long time lol
