Something something the warring emotions of wanting to love the wish fulfillment of seeing Daniel Larusso beat the shit out of his childhood abuser (even if it was corny and dumb because the karate kid has always been corny and dumb) vs absolutely loathing the way this season shit all over the themes of the original movies and went all in on the idea all conflict should, actually, be resolved through violence.

#i would say as a whole my feeling are overwhelmingly (if not wholly ) negative towards this season #but like. daniels arc specifically. i just have so MANY mixed emotions there #i think if as a whole the season had been drastically different #if chozen and johnny (and barnes i guess) hadnt technically won that house fight #if miguel and robby hadnt duked it out instead of like. having an actual conversation #if daniel vs silver had been the ONLY fight where the good guys were narratively rewarded for senseless acts of violence #then i would have liked it #because sometimes yeah. you should get to beat the shit out of your abuser #but i guess because of the rest of the season it just. it didn’t feel as emotionally cathartic as it should have #and ive seen people complain that it was a cheesy way to end the giant dojo brawl with like. yes it definitely was #but i dont MIND cheesy #s1 was the cheesiest this show has ever been #and the movies are some of the corniest ive seen in my life #thats part of what makes them endearing #what did bother me was like. literally everything else lol #s5 spoilers #cobra kai #ck negativity #sort of #being more negative in the tags honestly
