#and if Falin represents their desires and the dungeon's draw on them...

I was thinking that people saying Marcille's relationship with Falin is the driving force of so much of Dungeon Meshi were overselling it a bit, since Marcille's original desire driving her to the dungeon (and eventually becoming its lord) is equalizing the races, but even if she noticed tensions between human species before, iirc Falin was her first real friend, so that's probably the first time Marcille really had skin in the game (besides the loss of her father, but he's already gone). So it does come back to Falin after all, and it's even more appropriate that Marcille makes it to the bottom of the dungeon chasing her.

Hiii I’m the op of the Falin/Marcielle pietà piece (this is my main blog lol) and I loooove your interpretation/tags!! I was initially kind of embarrassed bc I felt like their roles should have been switched for an obvious pieta comp (which was a little incidental tbh I don’t usually know what I’m drawing until I’m done LOL) but you tags have made me feel soooo much better abt it!! Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts <333
yay!!! i am glad you liked my interpretation! i was so worried i was out of line but also when i saw ur art i started frothing at the mouth and my eyes rolled back in my head and before i knew it ihad pieced it all together and was too excited abt it not to share.
i think that them being switched obviously could have worked too but like. i kind of like it so much better this way? like emphasizing Marcille's devotion and desire to sacrifice herself rather than just being bc Falin is the one who gets eaten is the right call imo. Food represents different things in dunmesh and the bible imo and dungeon meshi places heavy emphasis on pleasure and coming together whereas the bible is all about sustenance.
