something i've been thinking a lot lately is how people who aren't autistic tend to think that they're meeting autistic people in the middle when they're really just taking one step.

people often legitimately think they're making a fair compromise. they don't understand that you're moving so much further than them, because their perspective is so fundamentally different.

it's exhausting and painful and humiliating to talk about. people accuse you of demanding too much unfairly because they can't see that you're moving so far to meet them.

i dunno.

If you're living in America, and you're not trying more diverse food then what the fuck are you even doing with your life?

We have access to so many different foods from around the world right here, and there are people out there unwilling to try any of it. What kind of life is that to live?

have you ever thought about Shrek and all those cute little Dronkeys that Donkeu and the dragon have? because for the Dronkeys to even exist in the first place, that would mean that donkeys and dragons are a LOT closer genetically than we would first assume. in fact, they'd have to be in the same genetic family at least. and since we have no family for dragons yet, but we DO have one for donkeys, that would place dragons firmly in the Equus family. meaning that, despite popular belief, dragons are NOT simply giant lizards with wings. with the evidence provided to us in the Shrek universe, it is far more accurate to say that donkeys and dragons shared a common ancestor at some point, but the species that would become the dragons was separated into a more hostile environment and forced to adapt (i.e. the lava tower Fiona is first rescued from). the dragons' fur would have grown harder and wider, covering more skin like a sort of armor, while the donkeys would have stayed closer to their other equinine cousins, like the horse. so in the same way that we have many breeds of dogs that often look vastly different from each other, I propose that dragons and donkeys are either 1) two breeds of the same species or 2) both descended from a close common ancestor. thank you for coming to my TED talk.

VERY IMPORTANT a dam in the Netherlands, the weerdsluis lock, is directly on a migratory path for spawning fish. They have a worker stationed there to open the door for the fish, but they can take a while to open it. So to keep the fish from getting preyed on by birds they installed a doorbell. Only, the fish don't have hands to ring the doorbell. If you go to their website, they have a LIVE CAMERA AND A DOORBELL that YOU RING FOR THE FISH when they're waiting, and then the dam worker opens the door for them! I can't express how obsessed I am with this. look at this shit. oh my god.

Please check on the fish doorbell once in a while :)
