My beautiful MCs! They are both ancient magic users, Will being at Hogwarts from the begining, Elland comming as a 5th year student. Will was Elland's companion in Hogsmeade when the troll attack happened and that's also when (following Elland's use of ancient magic) they discovered that Will also wields it. From that point on they went through the trials together. Elland was the one mostly fighting, confronting Dark Wizards and protecting Will while Will was the sneaky puzzle guy and talk-to-people guy, he's a spoiled pureblood that can't even run for longer than a minute, let alone fight haha (he's great at flying though, worthy material for a seeker!). Feel free to send them owls if you want to know more haha
Will is very open to other people but can be manipulative under certain circumstances, and even calm kind of threatening if somebody is being nasty to him or Elland (his protection mechanisms really differer from Elland's). He wasn't sorted in Slytherin because of his family, he's just a cute little cunning and ambitious cookie, nobody in his family has even been sorted into Slytherin before. Pride is probably the only thing that wouldn't fit him from the list of typical Slytherin traits. Elland is a true Hufflepuff: loyal, fair, hard-working (not in regard to homework though), patient, modest. You wouldn't call him awkward (unless crushes, but even then he'd power through it like a champ, there's plenty of Gryffindor in his as well) or soft (he is perfectly fine with making difficult decisions).
Elland would never use dark magic. Will knows the forbidden spells, but wouldn't use them either, he's too resorceful, there are always other ways. But if it's not about the unforgivables he might consider it, just as long as it's legal or in a moral gray area. Will can get very emotional and doesn't handle life threatening situations well, while Elland can deal with that but not with his school work stress or his crushes. Will is an outstanding student, always taking too many classes at the same time just to keep his options open, Elland has regular grades.
Spoilers for the game ahead: both were present in the finale, Professor Fig dying hit Will so hard he couldn't even hold his wand really, just collapsed next to him weeping while Elland was trying to contain the power all by himself. Will is a sensitive cookie and he's not ashamed of it. Elland is the one bottling things up because he needs to make sure others are taken care of first. Boys dissagree on what to do with the power in the final repository: shaken by Fig's death Will wants nothing to do with it, it should be locked up, he trusts the Keepers, Isadora did not know the kind of harm she was causing, her approach to the issue was not thought through but rather lead by her emotions. Elland agrees with Will about Isadora but believes they should study this power to see if they can use it to their benefit someday. In a safe environment, of course. You'd probably expect this to be in reverse, but who knows, maybe with time Will will side with Elland, especially as they both discover new ways to use ancient magic.
