i like think about machete's death as a culmination of his paranoia and eventual cruelty and vasco as the single ray of light loving him up through the end. even through as terrible as he becomes, the thought of vasco's heart being with him even as he chokes on his own blood as the one thing that he could hold on to. what is it to love something you know is vile, and to mourn their loss regardless. i could drink the tragedy like wine

dragging them out to every restaurant or store to get the free drinks or birthday benefits just gives me big Sunset Curve energy.
"I still don't see what the big deal is," Reggie grumbled as they entered the bar. "It's loud and sticky here."
"Bud we gotta get our name out there somehow," Luke replied, a wide grin on his face. "This place does live music so we gotta try!"
"Plus Bobby knows the bouncer, so be glad we got in here at all," Alex said, glancing around nervously. "You're not even supposed to be in here."
"Not my fault you guys are all spring and summer babies," Reggie replied with a shrug.
They approached the bar, Luke trying to wave down the bartender, who looked at them unimpressed. "IDs or out fellas."
"We're here to talk to Vasco about playing!" Luke shouted at him.
"I don't care if you're here to see the queen, I can lose my license if you're here under 21, so show 'rm or shove off," the man stated.
Bobby, Alex and Luke all grumbled as they pulled out their wallets. Reggie just smiled and offered the man his fake-which was pretty good, if he said so himself.
The bartender glanced over each one, stopping at Reggie's, glancing at the bassist and then back at the card. "Well, seems we've got ourselves a birthday boy. You want a drink on the house while you wait?"
"Yes please!" Bobby and Luke chorused.
"Not you," the bartender said, then gestured to Reggie. "Just him."
"Oh, I don't drink," Reggie said. "But could I get a Coke instead?"
"Sure thing buddy."
The bartender walked off and the guys crowded around Reggie. "Did you seriously have today's date as your birthday?" Bobby hissed.
"Well yeah, I didn't want to use my real birthday, otherwise I'd get them confused," Reggie replied. "But hey, not gonna complain about a free drink."
"You think we can convince other places to give us free stuff if we show them that tonight?" Luke pondered.
"Let's meet with the bar manager and try fraud later," Alex replied.
"I say we try for someplace that serves ice cream first," Bobby proposed.
'Nah man, food first, dessert later," Luke argued back.
"It's my fake birthday, I get to decide," Reggie interjected.
Alex rolled his eyes. "I swear I can't take you guys anywhere."
The bartender returned with Reggie's coke, and a man trailing him. "These are the guys that wanted to see you boss."
Vasco was a large imposing man, but he cracked a smile at them. "Lemme guess, you guys are a band?"
Luke beamed and launched into his spiel, pressing one of their demos into the man's hands. He looked it over and nodded, promising to give them a call if anything opened up, with Bobby passing over the number for his pager, plus the studio's number, since Celia had been nice enough to pay for their own line and an answering machine out there.
High on their semi-success, they whooped as they entered the humid night air, Bobby throwing an arm over Reggie's shoulders. "Okay birthday boy, where to next?"
"Pizza," Reggie said. "I heard Gino's will give you a free slice on your birthday."
"What about us?" Luke asked.
Reggie shrugged. "Pay?"
Luke scowled but then raced after them. "Next time can it be my fake birthday? I wanna see if Guitar World will give me a discount..."
