i don't know, while this interview feels shitty and I never truly trust this type of interview for a lot of reasons that are unimportant at the moment, I have never expected nandor and guillermo to kiss? Like yeah, I still hope they become more "canon" in a way, but a kiss has never been in my mind. Not even nadja and laszlo have kissed on screen and yeah people will say "oh but they fuck on screen" yeah, they're being their horny kinky self, but somehow a kiss is more intimate and all that (or at least that's the theory this fandom came up with and I'm on board).

Anyway the point is that I don't mind not getting a kiss, wwdits has never really known for that (like i'm sure we only have like a total of 2 kisses in 5 seasons and they were like w/e?) I do still think paul simms should just shut up and at least let me live in delulu land, because the version i have built in my head of this show is much better 😌

Yowapeda drabble based on Onoda's new and old rivalries, Manami's pettiness towards new opponents, and Toudou trying to help but absolutely being no help at all.

The phone rang and immediately was picked up after a quick glance at the caller ID, “Hello Manami-kun! How good to hear from you!”

“Hello Toudou-san.”

“So how’s it feel being in the Captain position now? You better be acting responsibly! Hakone Academy’s reputation is still very important, you know!” he laughed loudly as he leaned back in his desk chair, “So is there a reason you’ve called? Come to get the former Mountain God’s advice on leadership? Or maybe it’s about how to make sure to keep your fangirls at bay? It’s not easy being so popular you know!”

“Actually Toudou-san it’s none of those things.” Manami answered, “But it is important.”

Violet eyes sparkled brightly, “Oh? Urgent huh? Well you have my full attention! What can your former senpai do for you?”

“How much do you know about MTB?”

Toudou looked at the phone, “Huh? MTB? You mean mountain biking? I don’t know anything about it? Is there a reason?”

“It seems that a famous MTB champion is entering the Inter-High this year with the goal of winning both a title in MTB and road racing.”

“Oh! Is that right? How did you find out about this?”

“It seems he’s gotten close with Sakamichi-kun…his name is Kiji Kyuui.”

Toudou laughed, “Oh I see how it is! You’re afraid your rival is going to get stolen from you! Don’t worry he can’t be all that bad!” he said as he typed the name in the search bar and immediately saw a MTB article that popped up with a picture and then paused as he took in the appearance of this challenger, “….Oh…I see why you’re so concerned now. His appearance is a 10!”

“….”

Toudou felt his brow start to sweat, “Um…well not to worry Manami-kun, he may be a 10 in the looks department but I’m sure his skills don’t match up to yours at climbing! A-And I’m sure him getting close with Glasses-kun is nothing to be concerned about! Glasses-kun doesn’t seem his type anyway!” he sighed, “Then again, since he’s already won two Inter-Highs he would be more popular with other racers wouldn’t he? Yeah he’s not much in the looks department still but…he does have a charm to him that seems to get to others. I’ve fallen for it too a few times and…Manami-kun? Are you still there?” he looked at the phone and noticed that Manami had ended the call.

‘Uh oh’ he thought to himself and soon pulled up his email and addressed it to Makishima, ‘Maki-chan, a storm is coming to this year’s Inter-High. Tell Sohoku to look after Onoda-kun.’

It sometimes shocks me how absolutely gay the show Merlin is. Normally for pintrest boards for shows or other things like that, I make subcategories for the ships and for fanart.

I can't even do that because the board itself is just Murther. The entire show, from episode one, is them being in love and pretty much everyone except them knowing it.

I’m sorry, can we just collectively reminisce on how funny this whole scene was? Like, who is the genius who wrote this? Or directed it in this very specific way. Big Bad Rio being absolutely ROASTED by his entire family because he can’t stop screaming about how much he loves this random soccer mom be brought to dinner. (Love how easy TikTok makes it to go frame by frame and really see their expressions.)

Look at Rosa’s face. 😂 “She is MARRIED, Christopher!”

And Rio immediately turns into a contrite little boy. Just nodding without ever looking up, his lips all pursed. My kids do this when they know they’re in trouble and they’re just trying to avoid it getting worse.

And of course Nick can’t help himself. You just KNOW he and Rio had a discussion about Rio bringing in his problematic new employee for Nick to meet and it was all serious business. Until Nick saw her and immediately went into his “let’s bully baby brother Rio” persona. Because THIS is the one giving him all this trouble? THIS is why everything is shut down? This little housewife with her bangs and giant cleavage and 2” black pumps? THIS is who Rio can’t get under control?

Look how mad he is 😂😂😂 Like, this kid has been bullied by Nick before and he’s right back to those times where he was the dorky little brother/cousin.

And Rosa already knows. “Don’t bully your brother, Nick. He’s a good boy. So he’s got himself a little girlfriend. And she’s married… OK. We’ll talk to him later.”

But I think my FAVORITE thing about this scene is Beth’s face through it all. Her utter bewilderment at the realization that Rio is, in fact, a dork. Like, the way she slowly lifts her head in this scene (while Rio lowers his down to his plate), and how wide her eyes get as she looks towards him. And look how embarrassed he looks!!! “Quit embarrassing me in front my my business friend, you jerk!”

LOOK AT HER FACE!!! 😂😂😂😂

But also, look at HIS face as he looks at her. He just can’t help himself. 🥰

Aaaaaand, scene! Genius!

For all the complaints that Rio wasn’t given humanity, this scene was everything. He is so wholly human here. So sympathetic and vulnerable. So many layers of history and meaning behind such an awkward interaction. A character who’s been mostly a persona is made into a person.
