Sending Maruki and Adachi fusion thoughts into your head…..
Unprompted Asks - Always Accepting!
I forgot about this ask until thoughts for Maruki and Adachi fusion hit me like a brick again. Art and basic ideas for their fusion under the cut.
Tumblr media
Both Maruki and Adachi can be pretty unassuming when they want to be, and I imagine their fusion - at least in the real world - looks pretty much like a normal guy, partially because of that and partially because they're close and get along so well.
Because they have a healthy friendship, the fusion's actually surprisingly stable. Their personalities balance each other out: Maruki keeps the fusion from being too mean and Adachi keeps them from being a doormat. They're very nice and supportive, and smart and confident, and although they tend to ramble a lot about conflicting ideas, are generally pleasant and likeable. Here's their voice.
In the metaverse, they take on the costume above, complete with that stupid cape, but at least it's better than what Maruki wears in canon.
Oh, and they're just about the most powerful persona user to ever exist. Just look at the power Maruki and Adachi have separately, they have unlimited power at their fingertips when together.
Challenging them or their ideals while fused... if they don't like you, you'd kinda be snapped out of existence because Adachi takes away any of the fusion's self restraint. When challenged, however, they take it pretty well, and cheerfully wish you luck while commenting that you’re going to need it.
Their weapon is a rifle, used both in long range combat and to hit with in close range.
When left alone, their combined negative thoughts tend to be enough to split them up after a few hours or so. They're both pretty sad but will never admit it, so the fusion's like "guess I'll die lol" and splits from the tension.

valentine’s day coming up!!
what do they boys do to celebrate w their s/o?
Anon how did u read my brain to find out I have been cookin this post for the last few days lol. Happy Valentine's to all of you, my lovelies.
Mild NSFW below. Also this is a long one, sorry in advance.
Kazuma Kiryu
Simple but classy. As it stands, he can't really do anything big or fancy and the Daidoji sure as hell won't let him do many dinner dates if any at all but he makes the most of it. Probably gives you a bouquet of your favorite flowers and a heartfelt letter.
Majima Goro
A chocolate thief is on the loose in Sotenbori and his name is Majima Goro. If a giant heart-shaped red velvet size box appears on your doorstep, it's from him. He might even be in it. Open it and find out.
Saejima Taiga
A mix of getting you some gifts and making you something handmade. He's typically torn between two strategies: making you a handmade gift and taking you out to dinner or buying you a gift and making you dinner. Heads up, he will at some point make a handcarved wooden figurine or statue for you one of these years.
Akiyama Shun
You'd think it would be beyond human capabilities for this man to get any sappier than he is but somehow he does it every time. A class act with just the right amount of cheese. Dinner, flowers, the works. You can't tell if you're just that starry eyed over this man or if he actually just fucking sparkles.
Tanimura Masayoshi
Can't afford too much on his salary, but he'll make you an adorable custom basket of all your favorite snacks. Will totally pull some strings at Homeland to get the restaurant open to just you two.
Ryuji Goda
Can afford whatever the hell you want and has no reservations about doing so. However, he DOES have reservations at your favorite restaurant with a bottle of your favorite wine, alongside one of every single favorite item of yours on the planet. Always gets you a piece of customized jewelry.
Nishikiyama Akira
Always gets you a customized bouquet of flowers. Actually pretty into the arrangement and colors and is particular about getting yours just right. Might just even make one himself one of these days. Also gets one of those customizable chocolate boxes or a luxury bag.
Daigo Dojima
Are roses and candles cheesy? Yes. Cheesy is also Daigo's middle name when it comes to Valentine's Day. Man's straight out of a 90's romcom. Probably got the idea from a 90's romcom, actually. Will also be down to watch a 90's romcom with you. Seriously, he prefers a cozy night in anyways.
Mine Yoshitaka
Same vibe as Daigo but sluttier. Seriously. He's a champagne and bubble bath type of hoe, followed by what can only be described as mind blowing sex. Out of all the boys, he's the one who's most likely to have sex on Valentine's Day.
Tatsuo Shinada
He will try his hand at baking you some homemade goodies. Be warned, the first few attempts will be a little wonky. He's doing his best though! He can't afford much so he likes to do homemade things. Would also be down to bake or cook something with you if you're into that.
Ichiban Kasuga
He'd take you on a date that includes all of your favorite activites and your favorite places. As long as he's spending time with you, that's what counts. Will totally end the day by just blurting out something sappy and romantic but would he be Ichiban if he didn't?
Yu Nanba
Likes to do something relaxing, particularly if it takes you two away from the city. Nothing like the peace and quiet of the countryside so you two can be as close as possible. Probably would take a weekend to go to a hot spring with you.
Adachi Koichi
Will actually ask you to be his Valentine. Total cheesefest with this guy. Type of fella to hold a rose between his teeth and say something dumb like "Hey babe, come here often?". In terms of activites, he doesn't have much beyond a nice dinner planned but his personality just oozes goofy, silly love.
Tianyou Zhao
If you thought he'd be doing anything other than cooking you an overly extravagant dinner all by himself, then you'd be dead wrong. Man's out here cooking all your favorite foods, baking your favorite desserts, and making them unbelievably pretty and fancy. He's out here making roses out of the freakin' dumpling pastry, for cryin' out loud!
Joon-Gi Han (Y7)
Sweetie boy is doing his best. Gets a nice cake with a custom message on it, or takes you to an adorable cafe and eats a bunch of sweets with you. Also, yes he's dressing in matching outfits, duh!
Joon-Gi Han (Y6)
This boytoy is taking you to the biggest, fanciest club in town and ordering the biggest, fanciest bottle of champagne they have. Also one of the boys who is likely to get down and dirty on Valentine's Day.
Osamu Kashiwagi
Total class. Years have given him enough knowledge and expertise to pull off a classic Valentine's Day without a hitch. Thinks of everything, from the flowers and dinner all the way down to what color tie goes best with what color suit that would match best with your outfits. Lots of kisses on the back of your hand.

Hiking with the Ichigang
Honestly, I have no idea what this is lmao they are extremely dumb.
Not the type of headcanons I planned on writing, but the idea randomly came to me, and they were fun to make. ✨
Ichiban Kasuga:
Ichi is probably the one who suggested a little hiking day trip to be honest. Most likely got the idea whilst skimming through the magazine rack at the convenience store, and spotted some article/ad about hiking and nature and what a great experience it is.
Immediately thought it would be a fun bonding session to have with the gang, but he is wrong.
Organised the outing, but is somehow the least prepared.
Probably made a dumb footwear choice, like flip flops or sandals. Ends up with sore feet very early on, and stubs his toes on stones constantly.
Also did not bring enough water, and has to scrounge off the others.
Also brought no food/snacks. Luckily Zhao made an entire feast for the trip.
To be honest, once he’s there he just has no idea what he’s doing or where the gang should go. He’s having a great time regardless though, and is ultra enthusiastic as always. He’s just happy to be with his besties.
No thoughts, just vibes.
Yu Nanba:
He is absolutely exhausted after about 30 minutes of walking. Let this man nap.
Just wants to sit down and chill. Maybe even watch the different birds and critters go by.
He can appreciate nature, he just doesn’t really appreciate the exercise/walking part.
He would be grumbling and complaining constantly, to be honest. An absolute vibe killer.
Poor guy strikes me as unlucky, and would definitely get stung by a bee or a wasp.
Grumpy.
Adachi Koichi:
Somehow becomes the dad of the group, and has to take control after it becomes apparent that Ichiban the Organiser has no clue where to go, or what to do.
Is actually pretty prepared. Has appropriate hiking footwear, a backpack with the appropriate amount of food and water, and even medical supplies just in case.
Also has a map, but still somehow manages to get the group lost.
Blames them getting lost on the map being wrong, but it’s not the map. It’s him. It’s all him.
Saeko Mukoda:
Honestly, it’s not her vibe, but she enjoys spending time with her friends and wanted to give hiking a fair shot.
Sure she appreciates nature, but she prefers to appreciate it from afar.
Another one who complains that her feet hurt not long after starting the hike, and also did not wear appropriate hiking footwear.
She would enjoy taking pictures of the scenery, and selfies with the gang.
Would make herself a flower crown, and feel like a fairy princess.
The vibe would be ruined when one of the gang points out there’s a huge bug on one of the flowers. She probably ends up chucking the crown on the ground and stomping on it.
Wouldn’t despise the trip and would have some fun, but definitely would not be up for hiking again.
Seonhee:
This queen would probably do just fine on a hike, as long as any bugs stay away.
She’s not entirely sure how she got dragged along on the trip with these buffoons (minus Joon-Gi), but she can definitely appreciate the environment.
A nice change of pace/scenery for her.
Probably wants to ditch the rest of the group, as they’re all annoying her with their constant whining.
Must have rolled her eyes at least 276695290 times during the entire trip.
Saeko takes the prettiest candid shots of Seonhee just looking all regal and like an absolute queen, surrounded by all the pretty trees and flowers.
Joon-Gi Han:
OVER-PREPARED.
It was meant to be a little day trip/hike, and the gang would all be back home way before nightfall.
But Joon-Gi has packed a TENT. He has supplies to make a FIRE. He has CLIMBING EQUIPMENT, and also them stupid ass hiking poles even though it is a completely flat hike.
Has multiple backpacks just full of unneeded things.
The other guys can’t even see him. He’s just a bundle of walking backpacks.
He is just full to the brim of random survival tips.
Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.
He would have to take the map off Adachi, and would get the gang back on the right track. He would also officially ban Adachi from giving them directions ever again.
Tianyou Zhao:
Definitely worked so hard the day before cooking food, and making little snacks and lunchboxes for the gang.
Probably made too much food, let’s be honest.
Would definitely be roasting Joon-Gi for taking the hike so seriously.
Would also roast Adachi for getting them lost.
Like Seonhee, he has no idea how he got roped in to a hiking trip with his favourite losers.
And like Ichi, Zhao is not 100% sure what is going on, but he too is just vibing.

There is a scene in Cherry Magic that exemplifies what I love about stories with magic realism.
During a drunken game at a work dinner, Adachi and Kurosawa are asked to kiss.
Adachi braces himself. He’s uncomfortable with the whole thing and it shows clearly on his face. Kurosawa, who’s leaning over to plant the kiss and get it over with, notices his distress. So, instead of kissing him on the lips, he drops a quick peck on his forehead.
Tumblr media
Adachi - who can hear thoughts through touch - is startled at Kurosawa’s thoughts. He’s sorry. He didn’t want to force a kiss on Adachi like this.  Since Adachi already knows Kurosawa’s feelings for him, he follows the man out to check on him. This time when Adachi’s fingers accidentally touch Kurosawa, Adachi is the one to notice the other man’s internal distress.
Kurosawa is wrestling with himself. He had already told himself that Adachi would never reciprocate his feelings. So even though a small part of him was happy to get close to Adachi, most of him was crushed at the thought that Adachi must have hated the kiss.
Tumblr media
The reason this scene is so great is because of what happens next. Kurosawa is the confident, outgoing colleague Adachi has always been in awe of. Adachi is introverted and doesn’t express himself too well. But because Adachi has heard Kurosawa’s most intimate feelings, he feels the unfairness of knowing too much. He understands that there’s an imbalance and feels compelled to correct it.
You can almost feel the crushing pressure on his narrow shoulders as he pushes himself to explain to Kurosawa why he looked distressed. It wasn’t because of Kurosawa, it was because he was inexperienced and afraid. He didn’t hate the kiss.
Tumblr media
It wasn’t a confession, just a deep desire not to hurt the man who’s been exceptionally kind to him and somehow also seems to really like and respect him. But saying just that much would have been beyond Adachi, if he didn’t suddenly develop mind reading powers which made it impossible for him to ignore Kurosawa’s feelings.
The guy who would usually keep to himself, second guess anything he did notice about others, and live by a motto of inaction was pushed to speak out because he couldn’t pretend he didn’t know Kurosawa was hurting.
Of course a scene like this could be written without magic realism, but for a character as insular and hesitant as Adachi, you’d need magic to make this happen.

Each day i am more fucking sure that at first, they were going to push Yosuke as the romance option like in p3 is Aigis and p5r is Sumire, not only for the obvious stuff (constant flirting from Yu's part, Teddie believing this two were a thing at the beggining of the game, they being close friends no matter what the player does, when Yosuke asks you about what's your type and you choose neither, the game will mention how you told your true feelings, etc...) But also something that i noticed about the other ships that they push you to get, the biggest example is Aigis, who showed to be a robot with lack of human emotions that came to understand what it means to be alive, from an apathic robot, to someone with a big heart that can call herself human, even if she's not physically one
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The thing is that she shares a thing in common with Makoto, Makoto started as an apathic man, that didn't wanted to die, but didn't had strong feelings to "live" neither, they both found what was precious in life, but still accepting the final day of life, death.
They parallel each other in a way and somehow, they helped each other to grow, even if it isn't noticed as much in the game, it's noticeable in the anime specially, Makoto is the reason Aigis is "alive" while Aigis is what Makoto needed
Tumblr media
But how it's related? Easy, how they handle the "love interest", someone that parallels the mc, a relathionship that fits the message of the game, a relathionship where both parties help the other to grow, who have this 3 in common the most? 𝙔𝙤𝙨𝙪𝙠𝙚
Yosuke's social link is about him finally finding somewhere he truly belongs where he doesn't feel alone, bc his shadow himself mentioned "you act happy and carefree to hide the fact that you are scared of being alone" but after Yu came in, he finally found himself comfortable, Yu is the reason he find himself in terms with inaba, why he found a place he could truly belong, like if the city didn't meant to him as much as Inaba now
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What about Yu? Yu has a very similar parallel to Yosuke, someone who the city didn't exactly meant something to him, who was alone and was afraid of his own insolation, that's why, he truly thought he was empty, he's afraid of losing those that matters to him, like Yosuke said at the end of his social link, the power to protect those who matter, "friends, family...and you".
And no, this is not one-sided, Yu is constanly thanking Yosuke for being there in anime adaptations and the game itself, Yosuke is also the only one who knows him enough to wait for him after going after Adachi alone, he was hurt, he was maybe angry, but he wanted to let him know, that he can trust him.
And let's not talk about this, who was the one who was always saving Yu from darkness in the anime? Who they would 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩 to be the one who saves him in his shittiest moments like Aigis did to Makoto?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's right
As for something that fits perfectly with the message of the game, this game talks about self-discovery, about self-acceptance, about maturity, about the "truth", and in this case, we are talking about two teenagers, one very agressive towards one of his friends for the possibility of him being gay, but as the game pass, even if he's still kind of an ass to him, he's chiller about it, two teenagers who started the first social link in the game talking how they will work together to find the truth and of course, how one of them discovers how he really feels, something warm, something he didn't wanted to accept, but for his own maturity ("i have been putting all my attention for the murders, to avoid having to confront myself"), he has to accept that:
Tumblr media
TL;DR: Yu and Yosuke's relathionship feels more natural than the girls bc they actual put some effort into it like with aikoto, they parallel each other, they help each other, and they represent the themens of the game perfectly
TL;DR2: Removing the romance route was a mistake

i'm sorry but cherry magic th is just so lame (as an adaptation) and it's weird to see everyone praise it as the superior version because it's done more things wrong than it did right (as an adaptation)
the character writing was so bad (as an adaptation), it barely resembled the original characters (as an adaptation), the show's original plot points were so dumb you'd think you were watching a kid show and a telenovela at the same time, the promise that this version would be more faithful to the manga extended to like adding a few missing scenes to an otherwise clearly influenced remake of the jdrama/movie...
sure they did way better on the intimacy aspect (as an adaptation) but that means close to nothing when the rest of the show is so divorced from the story it was supposed to be adapting. if you are going to make karan as creepy as manga kurosawa you have to make achi as hesitant as manga adachi to balance it out. achi being so accepting of him from the get go messes up the whole dynamic and it's not as intriguing to watch (as an adaptation). or if you want to make pai a fujoshi you have to make her secretive about it and also not be a close friend to them. trying to get best of both worlds results into bad character writing (as an adaptation) and it was so obvious on the second half.
achi almost never has his own agency, scenes where he was supposed to step up were all given to karan instead, hell one of his BEST scenes was given to KARIN. (and not to mention his passiveness in the entirety of ep8) Even earlier on, he is so accepting of karan that it is boring to watch, he is not even allowed to be put off the way original adachi is just in case, we, the dumb audience, interpret this as him not being as in love with karan as karan is. CM manga has like two major conflicts and one of them doesn't even make it into this version.
Emphasising during all the show how happy Pai is to be single only to end up shipping her off with a man she otherwised showed no attraction to just diminished the whole message. Rock's persuasion of pai ruined his character, none of that cute naive oblivious supportive junior, full of ambition, that was his charm in the first place, makes it on to the show. instead he falls back into a stereotypical straight man running after a woman who is clearly not interested in him and somehow still ends up winning her over! and all of that is framed as him being accepting of her weird hobby of watching bl! hooray we got straight fujoshi represantation! surely it must be illegal to add such a heterosexual storyline to a bl?
and obviously a remake is going to give its own twist to the original story but that doesn't mean they get to misinterpret entire character and story arcs and get praised for it. it's definitely better as a stand alone which i guess is how most fans watch it since it stars a fixed ship. glad you enjoyed it now pick up the manga.

What was Adachi doing at the Amagi Ryokan?
It's genuinely unclear to me whether Adachi was actually supposed to be babysitting Mayumi, or if he just showed up and pretended he was so he could talk to her lol. I think the game is suggesting he was not actually assigned to her and was more or less stalking her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Adachi's name is brought up at Aiya, Yukiko mentions that Adachi showed up at the ryokan claiming to be there to babysit Mayumi while the paparazzi were swarming the ryokan. This information is shocking and totally new to Naoto, who is the detective in our group who worked on the murder case with the police for multiple months beforehand.
Tumblr media
When we finally see the flashback of Adachi confronting Mayumi in the Amagi Ryokan, she has no idea who he is. If Adachi is her police escort, wouldn't she know about this guy already?
Tumblr media
On the other hand, you can confront Adachi in the hospital and ask him about Mayumi in front of Dojima. And Dojima doesn't react as though it's weird for Adachi to have been at the Amagi Ryokan.
But we also don't know what exactly the protagonist asked Adachi since we're a silent protagonist...
Tumblr media
On the other, other hand - if Adachi was actually assigned to babysit Mayumi, how is this somehow not brought up in the early scenes where Dojima and Adachi talk about the case?
I feel like the combo of Naoto's shock + Mayumi's reaction + Dojima not going "dude, what" leans towards him not being assigned to her. Like he showed up at the Amagi Ryokan, flashed his badge at Yukiko and the other staff, and it worked. He had headcanons about Mayumi and he needed to confirm them in-person. Normal teenage girl behavior.
Tumblr media
I'm aware that the Persona 4 Golden anime has its own version of this where Adachi is actually legitimately seriously assigned to go babysit Mayumi. But that's just the anime adaptation's take on Adachi, and in the commentary track for episode 7, the director emphasizes that this is their take and encourages you to think whatever you'd like. At the end of the day, the anime adaptation doesn't have to worry about details that make Adachi being assigned to her seem weird, but the game's narrative does.

nanako is one of the most well written characters in persona 4
⚠️ major spoilers for p4 up to its 7th dungeon in here (yes im talking to you kaylingo)
ive been thinking about nanako a lot over the past few days and, man, i feel like she doesn't get enough appreciation. she rivals akechi as my favorite persona character ever because of how precious she is, yes, but also because her writing is so perfect.
because, let's be honest, a lot of parts of this game aged poorly, especially in a modern lens. i could make a list. i have made a list actually which i give to my friends who start p4 to warn them (hi kaylingo!). you know, like the bathhouse scenes, the poor representation, the countless times the female characters are treated weirdly. the fat girl who only exists for fatphobic jokes. i could go on. nanako is not included in this.
in fact, nanako is one of the most compassionately written characters i've seen. she is just as important to the whole investigation team as she is to yu. she is never treated as a hassle to watch over. she's actively included in things they do. everyone is gentle with her (her very first social link where yosuke finds out her mom is dead and so softly apologizes, the little things like that). everyone loves nanako. that's so important, both for her and the story as a whole.
the justice arcana
nanako being the justice arcana is pretty baffling at first. the wiki says it's thanks to her deep care about right and wrong, but to me that's not as satisfying as:
nanako reflects everyone's sense of justice
this is clearest during Heaven: nanako's death is the reason the investigation team turns murderous, desperate to avenge her. nanako ends up in danger thanks to nametame's skewed messiah complex. nanako being in danger gives dojima the energy to launch a desperate attempt to finally catch the culprit and save her, wrecking and getting terribly injured in the process. importantly, nanako being in danger is what gets adachi panicked enough to slip up and reveal himself as the killer, thus allowing justice to finally catch up to him.
seeing her like this makes every character's actions much more fascinating. she doesn't deserve anything happening to her in the slightest. it's unfair and unjust. everyone knows this. what we see during Heaven is each character's attempts to save her, even nametame.
Heaven is my favorite dungeon in the game. in my book it even beats every palace in persona 5. everyone's love of nanako is stronger than ever in the most painful way. there's so much raw emotion and it's so well written the entire way through.
a few characters specifically stick out to me, like naoto, who chides themself for not figuring out nanako could be in danger sooner and being the person to initially suggest turning murderous against nametame.
teddie, who's so distraught over the injustice of nanako's death and his inability to keep the promise that gave him a place in the world that he loses all will to live. he can only live in the human world with her around, and she only comes back to consciousness upon hearing his voice.
and adachi, who, in an episode of the golden anime, is seen muttering to himself alone in the hospital pushing the blame of everything onto yu (episode 6, i told you, yu. the anime is usually really dinky but that episode is genuinely a masterpiece somehow.), which further proves his warped perception of justice. because he cares about her too. the anime proves that to him, yu took his place in the dojima family, and he's extremely bitter about it.
in conclusion
nanako's role as the collective little sister is so important. she helps everyone throughout their social links and brings out the sides of people that wouldn't be seen otherwise. before Heaven, each dungeon was fairly impersonal, saving people they hadn't met before, which drastically changes with her kidnapping.
nanako gives everyone the strength to solve the case. she's the light that guides them to the clues they've been looking for throughout the past 8 months. nanako is the justice arcana because, without her, the case goes unsolved, and it's all thanks to the love everyone has for her. she's the best depiction of anything like this i've ever seen.

oh god where did i leave off. oh fuck i left off with THAT? oh geez sorry
in my defense, the music in the next area is great so i didn't want to leave and i'm almost to the boss i think? Reverie, Yukiko, and Kanji make a DEADLY team, and while I am Big Mad at Yosuke:
he starts every battle first and has tentafoo/Cause Panic. so. he's just maddeningly useful, idk what to say.
Tumblr media
Huh I somehow thought the other character was next but it's Rise time!
Man. I like Rise a lot. Out of all the romance options she's the only one I'm considering at all because she's neat. Rise is an idol who is taking a break from the business to return home to Inaba and recuperate. And right from go, she is just on another level from everyone else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She knows about the Midnight Channel (though doesn't understand it's a supernatural hit list yet) and is aware of the dangers around her. The Idol business in all its forms across the world fucking Sucks and it's clear to see it's had an effect on her, like emotional stretch marks from having to mature really fucking fast. She's been in her late 20s since she was 13 and it shows.
Oh and she's working in her family's tofu shop for the time being.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
/googles ganmodoki
oh i would try this in a fucking heartbeat. Also, Yosuke, bro, what do you mean you don't eat tofu. Like... no tofu ever? I'm American and I eat tofu. It's good.
(I do genuinely want to eat more tofu but I cook for a whole household and they are less willing to let me experiment with tofu. Please pity me. 8C I heard if you squeeze out all the liquid or even freeze them first, they become really easy to fry? Anyway. Sorry, I cook a lot.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway aw shit Rise inadvertently reveals to Dojima that we're working this case. Worse, Dojima is not immediately angry or confrontational about it. OH NO, he purposefully avoids being confrontational about it.
Instead he puts Adachi on our tail.
Tumblr media
Look at that man's face. Does this motherfucker have a single candle on behind those eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which leads to discovering a stalker who Adachi arrests as the murderer.
GODDAMMIT ADACHI. Whatever, it gets him out of our fucking hair.
Tumblr media
buuuuut in that time, Rise got got. goddddddfuckingdammit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
An idol who's shadow self is on some level genuinely an exhibitionist. Whoo boy that's... a lot. Also, out of all the shadows, I find Rise's the most creepy, weirdly? Maybe because Idol Culture scares the shit out of me and I don't even remotely understand the appeal. It's like this terrifying black box of concepts I can't divine anything out of.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In TV World, I feel SUPER BAD for Teddie. I keep flying through these dungeons in one or two days and not really coming back to the TV World to see him. Which is a shame because I genuinely love Teddie! I think he's top three characters for me right now.
I was trained in the unhallowed halls of Tartarus, I know how to curbstomp a dungeon, okay? I wish I was around more for Teddie. 8C
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
YOSUKE HANAMURA WE ARE GONNA STEP OUTSIDE IF YOU MAKE TEDDIE SAD, DO YOU HEAR ME?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i just went from Big Mad to cackle in like a minute. CHIE OH MY GOD. "Aw buddy, you're sad? Yeah, you can hit on me, I'm cool with that!" i'm dying. it kind of says a lot about Chie's opinion of Teddie vs everyone else since she's the one who shoved the boys into the river at camp.
She has standards, is what I'm saying, and I respect them immensely.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
say what
Tumblr media
omg yes yes yes yes yes yes lemme see it what is it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
STAR SOCIAL LINK: GET. THE STAR IS SO FUCKING GOOD FOR TEDDIE TOO! The Star comes after darkness has fallen and you are lost in the night with no sense of direction. It is the pinprick of light in the distance, the hope that gets your feet moving again after the despair has settled in. It is not a promise of warm or answers or completion, but it is sign that the story is not over, that you aren't over, and encourages you to follow to the next page.
TEDDIE IS GREAT FOR THE STAR, AAAAAAH!!!!!

almost caught up, here we go
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh yeah because you are just all about fulfilling wishes you fucking fae bastard
Tumblr media
I wonder if, like me, Akechi is also internally thinking "wow I was expected shit to be fucked up but this is kind of impressive, bravissimo"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh honey that ain't a fuckboy that's a fuckman now. glow up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... This isn't.... a shadow. That's Maruki.
Interesting.
.... wait a goddamn minute actually that's really interesting. if Maruki doesn't have a shadow, then he has a persona.
oh my.

The rel Kasumi, Sumire, remembers having an argument with Kasumi out in the rain, about how Kasumi is always better than her and Sumire will never catch up to her.
In a fit of anger, she runs, and ignores Kasumi telling her to stop, that the walk light is red.

bangs hand on desk
THIS. IS. SO. MESSED. UP.
so, what? what the fuck, so Sumire was so distraught over the loss of her sister and the specific circumstances of that loss that she cracked and assumed the personality of Kasumi?
YEAH BASICALLY
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
maruki you are already the best villain, you are currently competing with Adachi and your odds are not terrible, holy shit bruh
Apparently Sumire was seeing Maruki after her sister's death and Maruki somehow changed? convinced? Sumire's cognitive self that she was really Kasumi. Because that's what she wanted.

Shout out to everyone who worked on Royal for the framing of this, the lighting, the menace of a soft-spoken man in a white suit who wants to help, and the neon-streaked beauty of his Palace.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay. This is tasty, crunchy stuff. But.
How are you going to solve a problem like Goro Akechi?
Also, we know from Maruki's backstory that it's not as pure and benevolent as he says. This all started with Rumi, his ex, when she had a mental breakdown over a traumatic incident. That entire thing is now cast into deeper suspicion, and Maruki is not as above it all as he seems.
Though, I guess that's not his goal. Everyone's reality is personalized to their needs. It's a very hands-on tactic. And we know from talking to him, he wanted to be the doctor to the world.
So how does that manifest? Can a Palace allow you to actually do that?

EVEN LINE HE SAYS IS AMAZING AND HORRIBLE, MY GOD
goddamn fucking image limit fuck OFFFFF

Tojoctober Day 24 - Friend
(To the future I've seen in my dreams)
Alt title is from the stylized lyrics of The Future I Dreamed Of
Ichiban's friends pay Ichiban back.
(ENDGAME LaD spoilers!!!)
—--------------------------------
A few days after the extravaganza that was their time in Kamurocho, Ichiban’s party made themselves known at Survive. Even though he was aware of their disappearance being a ruse, the bartender is still relieved to see the group of seven finally walk through the door. He makes them all gourmet bentos as a welcome back present, and the gang gets to chowing down. As they are finishing their plates, Nanba notices Ichiban poking at his food.
“You notice it too, Nanba?”
Nanba turns and comes face to face with Adachi.
“I guess… he's not normally like this, is he?” Nanba whispers, making sure Ichiban doesn’t hear them.
“Not when I’ve seen him.” Nanba turns, and Saeko has joined their whisper pile.
“Wonder if it has something to do with Masato.” Adachi muses.
“It probably does. He’s yet to tell us what happened, but whatever it is, it’s fucking him up inside.” Nanba agrees, glancing at Ichiban, who is only now eating his last bites of food.
“Maybe we can cheer him up somehow?” Saeko wonders.
“Hey, that’s not a bad idea. Nanba-” Adachi turns to where Nanba was, but he’s already started walking towards Ichiban, taking a seat next to him.
“Hey, Ichiban.”
Ichiban turns to him slowly. Nanba isn’t as perceptive as some people he keeps in his company, but he could tell Ichiban was barely masking his sorrow.
“Oh… hi Nanba.” Ichiban says, his voice also masking his sadness.
“I was wondering about… about Masato.”
“Yeah?”
“What did he like to do?”
Upon hearing the question, Ichiban’s eyes shine just a little bit, and Nanba smiles softly. “Well… I remember the last time we went to the arcade, there was this game called Samba de Amigo. The young master really liked playing it. But, when I went to look for it a bit ago, I didn’t see any machines, and the Internet says the machine got discontinued.”
“I see.” Nanba says, and the two sit in silence for a second, with Nanba unsure how to continue.
“Are you… ok?”
“Huh? Yeah, I’m good. I’m probably gonna turn in early though. You mind saying goodnight to everyone for me?”
“Sure, Ichiban. Get some rest.”
Ichiban nods, and gets up to go walk up to the second floor. Nanba rushes back to his companions.
“Masato liked Samba de Amigo!” Nanba says, forgetting he was whispering with them.
“And what are we supposed to do with that information?” Zhao leans over from his conversation with Joon-gi Han and Eri, seemingly intrigued in what the other half of the group was conspiring about.
“We’re gonna cheer Ichiban up!” Saeko says with pride.
“He did seem kinda down… is there any way we can help?” Eri asks.
“Well, we have a mission now. Find a Samba de Amigo arcade machine!” Adachi commands, and everyone nods in agreement before practically tripping over each other to leave the bar.
The group splits, and they search Ijincho for a while. Nanba is the one that finds the machine in the old homeless camp, and Joon-gi Han finds a pair of spare controllers in the Geomijul hideout. After a while (and a lot of cursing from Adachi), the group gets the machine into the downstairs of Survive, to the bewilderment of the bartender.
“What do you guys have there?” he asks.
“Something to cheer Ichiban up!” Nanba replies enthusiastically.
They wheel the machine into the corner of the room, and Joon-gi Han departs to return the dollie they borrowed from the Geomijul.
“Ok… plug the bad boy in!” Adachi says.
Zhao bends down, grabs the power cord, plugs it into the outlet, and the party sits and waits for the machine to turn on.
Which doesn’t happen.
“Uh… did you press the power button, Zhao?” Saeko asks.
“There isn’t a power button on these things.” Zhao replies, unplugging the machine.
“So… is it broken?” Eri says, moving to the back of the machine.
“Possibly. Let me look at the wires” The door opens as Joon-gi Han re-enters the space, making Nanba jump out of his seat. He watches the man go behind the machine with Eri.
“We might have it?” Eri says, standing up and returning to her seat, Joon-gi Han in tow.
“Alright, plug it back in, Zhao-san.” Joon-gi Han instructs. Zhao nods, and plugs the machine back into the wall.
Nothing.
“Hmmmmmmm,” the bartender mutters, and all eyes turn to him. “I may know the solution.” He comes out from behind the bar and goes to the machine. He grabs the plug, unplugs it, and plugs it back into a different socket.
The machine roars to life, making most people in the party jump.
“Alright! We got it!” Saeko cheers, grabbing the spare controllers and hooking them up to the machine with Zhao's help.
“Thanks, bartender.” Adachi says, giving the bartender a playful salute. "How can we repay you?"
“Pay your tab next time, Adachi.” the bartender replies. Adachi winces, and Nanba starts laughing.
It’s late morning the next day when Ichiban finally descends from the upper floor of Survive. Nanba notices him enter the bottom floor first, as Ichiban rubs his eyes and blinks in the direction of Adachi and Zhao, who are in the middle of a round on the new addition to the bar.
“What… where did you guys-?”
“Surprise, Ichiban! We found a Samba de Amigo machine!” Nanba says, causing everyone who wasn't playing on the machine to wave a "good morning" to Ichiban.
“You… found it?”
“The homeless camp had this sitting there, and it’s in pretty good condition. It may smell a bit though…” Nanba mutters.
Ichiban’s eyes shine, and he lets out a loud laugh. “Alright! When do I get a turn!?”
“You may want to eat first, Ichiban." Eri laughs.
Through the entire day, and into the night, the party takes turns on the game. They even beat the story mode and begin to up the difficulty of the songs they play. While the bartender doesn’t play, he ensures there’s a fresh supply of snacks and drinks for the players. Soon, the sun sets. Joon-gi Han, along with a struggling Saeko, are playing La Bamba when Nanba notices Ichiban is gone from the room. Nanba walks outside, and finds him in the park next to the building.
“Ichiban? Everything ok?” Nanba walks up to the ex-yakuza, who is hiding his face in his hands.
Ichiban says nothing, but is breathing heavily.
“Ichiban?”
Ichiban looks up, a bit startled, and Nanba notices the wetness on his face. Before Nanba can say anything else, he’s smothered in a big hug, Ichiban’s forehead on Nanba’s shoulder.
“I’m so fucking lucky to have you guys as my friends.” Ichiban whispers. “Thank you.”
Nanba simply smiles, and returns the embrace. They stand like this for a while before they feel a third pair of arms join in.
“Hey, who said the hug party could start out here!?” Adachi said. Ichiban and Nanba share a laugh, as more and more people from their party join in the hug pile.
Soon enough, everyone has their limbs and bodies in some sort of weird fashion that constitutes a hug, everyone trying to include each other.
“Everyone…” Ichiban starts, and all attention is turned towards him.
“Thank you guys. I’m so glad I have you all here.”
No one responds vocally. Nanba hugs Ichiban tighter, and feels himself squeezed in return.

my personal prediction for cherry magic anime: assuming it will be only 12, at most 13, episodes as all (normal) romance anime are nowadays i think each episode can cover around half a volume so the finale could be about adachi losing his magic (volume 6)
because cm is a short form manga, especially the earlier chapters are all over the place so it's hard to tell how the pacing will be?
for example, the first chapter is just 18 pages long but it could stand as an entire episode. though when the chapters are this short episodes tend to cover 2-3 chapters.
but then there's also the .1/.2/etc. chapters that are usually switching povs or flashbacks which i am curious to see how they'll be incorporated into the anime
and there's also the tsugemina scenes which 9 times out of 10 are shoved last minute in the end of the volume so they'll also need to somehow fit those in
i dont know if they'll go the drama route with some loose scene changes (again, short form manga doesn't adapt as smoothly as let's say a 40 page shoujo)
also episode 11 ALWAYS has to have some kind of conflict which depending on the pacing would either be adachi confessing about his magic or the news of adachi's tranfer to nagasaki . or if they start the drama from episode 10 it can be the nagasaki transfer and ep11 can end with kurosawa in the rain- im getting ahead of myself
my ideal pace would be
episode 1: prologue + staying over
episode 2: dining out + tsuge intro + king's game
episode 3: king's game (cont) + onsen trip
episode 4: kurosawa sister + sickfic
episode 5: takoparty + confession
episode 6: confession reply
episode 7: failed first date + first date redemption
episode 8: company event
episode 9: magic confession, kiss
episode 10: nagasaki transfer, fight
episode 11: nagasaki visit, adachi letter, episode ending with kurosawa going to nagasaki
episode 12: magic begone, some anime original ending maybe if theyre sure theres no s2 they could timeskip. but honestly they already know cm fans eat up anything so they should definitely do a second season. or at least another movie. i would take an ova even.

@byooregard ok but re: my experience on Persona reddit: it is the g-ddamn wild wild west on that website. I've had better luck on r/OkBuddyPersona which is just morons shitposting about shipping Sae & Adachi than on both r/Persona5 and r/PERSoNA which are both constant waifu wars and straight dudes crying about how much they hate Akechi and how Joker isn't gay. r/Akeshu is fine but kind of hilariously outdated in terms of the fandom jargon people use and is also obviously like 2011 fujoshi central. r/akechididnothingwrong is extremely infrequently updated but full of correct posts (stating that Akechi did nothing wrong). That's basically the gulf of my experience. Somehow I have ended up on there all the fucking time.

how i did the giant squid boss at level 45:
built diff
but no for real the game gives you this ominous warning about not being able to save or do substories for a while but then neglects to tell you that you probably shouldn't initiate the finale sequence at level 42. what's up with that.
so... it's fine up until the point the squid comes out of the water with zero exploitable weaknesses in sight. it goes mostly ok with some front-loaded heat actions until eventually the numbers fall out of my favour and i wipe NARROWLY after using sayama's poundmate with everyone either dead or at 200 HP. squid cleaves its next turn and beans me while it Also is on about 200 HP. frustrating!
i try again, blowing every heat action i can (tomi and adachi's could only be used on humanoids bigF) and while it goes a bit better this time i feel the numbers beginning to overwhelm my party again. which is when i take this screenshot:
Tumblr media
uh huh.
important things to note:
the squid is about to eat me
ichi, while at 80 HP, has the pyrodancer heal-over-time effect active
so SOMEHOW i live through this turn. nele shines down upon me this day or something.
i immediately toughness ZZ and expect the squid to do something crazy stupid now that there's nobody in front of it but it just. doesn't. so i'm free to do any kind of prep i need through the slow chip damage of the stomach acid burn.
i pop hero's guts and eat a few staminans, then get out and immediately rez joongi. they both get ate again. when they get out i just fucking blast it with everything i have and it finally dies oh my god that fight took way too long.
it's doable at 45 with 5 star weapons but i definitely wouldn't recommend it
bryce was way easier though. friendship ended with burning arrow now trippy flipper ripper is my new best friend
