Inasmuch as I can use this metaphor without having kids myself, I sort of see each of the books as a different child. The first one flew out in basically a few weeks of very intensive writing, and it was a total dream — plot, pacing, symbolism, major beats, all fell into place basically without effort. The character stuff was the hardest, as I've written about before, but even then, the glorious part of writing beginnings is it's the most energy you'll ever have for a project, so the lows were pretty soft lows. Book 2, in contrast, I had to drag kicking and screaming by its ankle from under the bottommost mattress of my brain. It's one of my least favorite books (tone problem; COS has killer plot/setting/ingredients for a YA novel, but it's stuck in the doldrums of Harry Potter's well-documented Early-Installment Weirdness, before Cedric Diggory slams the gas and upshifts the whole series into its correct age bracket). More specifically, once I'd gone through and picked out everything in the book that happened because of Lucius, I didn't have a plot — hey alexa how do you rewrite Chamber of Secrets when We Got No Fucking Chamber Of Secrets — and oh by the way, even if you want to do a moody tone/political setup book, remember that your protagonists are still twelve, so if you go too dark or too intense, you'll risk torpedoing your readers' suspension of disbelief. Good luck, Charlie.
Book 3 felt the most like its own novel, if that makes sense? It's the last truly feel-good book of the series; it's a great stand-alone mystery novel with relatively low stakes. Plus you get a bunch of the big series icons: patronuses, dementors, werewolves, Hogsmeade, the Marauders' Map, and time turners arithmancy. It just felt like a good old-fashioned motherfucking romp of a mystery/adventure story, before any of the complex character work and major stakes of the late books come in.
Book 4 was the most fun I've had writing anything maybe ever. I don't even know what it was. Maybe the tournament arc, honestly? Love me a tournament arc. But in any case, I opened every new chapter feeling a tingle of excitement for what I was gonna get to do. Oh, and the romance started, finally, Jesus God (if it feels like a slow burn reading, just imagine what it felt like writing it, when everything takes ten times as long, and you have to figure out how to word the fucker.)
Book 5, in contrast, has felt much less like that tingle of "here we go!" and more like "oh, man, this is gonna be cool." Because this is the arc of the story that composed the original idea for Lionheart, literally years ago, and to be honest, I didn't think I'd get this far! If you'd asked me "do you know that it's going to take you 500,000 words of backstory before you can start writing that concept you're thinking about, and you're going to do it anyway?" I would have said: "absolutely not, strange mind-reader!" But like... I'm here! Finally! And it's... real now? Like, this isn't just a bunch of clips of scenes in my head anymore! That's rad!
That being said, it's definitely been slower than Book 4, because I kept switching back to my outline document to make sure that certain things were set up properly, and that I hadn't lost any of the plot threads or forgotten a minor beat that was vitally important for the story three chapters later. And I had a minor crisis about three months ago when I ripped out about 8 chapters in the first third of the book — basically everything from September to December — because I'd done a readthrough to check pacing (big mistake! never edit while drafting, that's satan talking) and realized I had a missing storyline. Like, there was a whole layer of the story that was just. Missing. Not there. And the existing text really couldn't fit another thread, so instead of taking weeks to pore through and try to sift out what I could save, I needed to factory reset and start over. And I didn't want to! I vividly remember sitting there with my head in my hands, trying not to weep, because I'd decimated 90,000 words of work in a single edit. But it had to be done. Because the story wasn't going to work. And now (hopefully) it will.
And of course, there's still that sense of excitement and exhilaration from before. Always. But whereas Book 4 felt like a delicious chocolate pudding, Book 5 is a medium-rare steak.
(Book 6, so far, is four shots of espresso and a whiskey chaser. FWIW.)

Truth be told I've been struggling lately, and questioning many things. What is the purpose of this blog exactly? What am I doing here? It's been hard not to get down on myself, when writing has been a struggle for me lately and it's easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others - so many people out there write more, write better, do translations quicker and better than I ever can. Engagement always feels like such a struggle nowadays, especially when compared to Tumblr Past. I will admit to being very discouraged and down on myself recently about these sorts of things, and feeling often like the wind is taken out of my sails whenever I get excited about something.
But. BUT. That is all on me, and requires adjusting my own perceptions and behavior, rationally I know this. There are always things that someone can do that only they uniquely can, and I appreciate the reminder of that. And I appreciate the reminder that even if it's only one person, someone is excited for something I can make. It means a lot to hear you say that, and I am hoping I can not disappoint you.

I have a very general ask to rattle off before I leave the house!! I've been revolving the idea of sending this in my mind for a few days, but I think that last post you reblogged is a sign that I should just do it XD Because it kind of relates to my questions... sorry if it seems disjointed, I'm sort of rushing to get it out of my system ^^
When you imagine anything with your F/Os, is it you you that you're picturing? Or like. An idealized version of yourself? Is anything about her different or is she just straight up *you*? I've had this image in my head for so long of someone who thinks like me, but looks and acts quite different - almost like an OC. I think I'm getting a bit better about this though, I've been working on making my Sim self and it's helping 😅😅
From looking through this blog, it seems like you usually imagine your F/Os with you in the real world? Do you ever imagine yourself in their universe? For me I almost always imagine myself as a character in their universe!
I'm still warming up to the idea of F/Os... but for as a long as I can remember I've had daydream scenarios with soooo many different characters over the years. But I always just considered them maladaptive daydream scenarios 🙈🙈🙈 I LOVE the enthusiasm you have for your F/Os, though!! <3

As for me: First of all I think with F/O stuff you can - of course, - be whatever the hell you wanna be!! If thats an idealised or just, plain, fictional version of yourself- ball!! ^^ For me I generally just imagine myself. Though, admittedly, a slightly more confident, and open version of myself XD
As for the w o r l d, I usually imagine- it depends on the day XD Here are the various worlds I imagine myself in with them XD I put them under the cut cuz it partly answers the question and its also just me waffling about my various ongoing fantasies 😅
All of them: Some weird in-between world set in London with Cruella. Somehow the other 3 live there too now in this one 😅
All of them: Variant of same in-between world except I live in Maine with Jim because I l o v e the idea of living near a lake or in the bush/woods or something- I swear, if I could live out in the sticks I'd never be anxious ^^ Usually in this one, Otis lives in the basement XD
All of them: Different variant of same in-between world except I just live in Aus this time and am upholding 4 different long distance relationships 🤣 XD
Jim: The Lake Placid universe. Yes, I imagine myself in the universe! ^^ I'm not a character in the story, though, I generally imagine I'm cursed or the multiverse glitched or something and I ended up dropped in the last fictional universe I watched on TV XD So I'm just there, knowing e x a c t l y what happens and when in this story but keeping my mouth sealed s h u t about it (*cough* while shooting my shot with Jim) XD
Jim (Variant): At the moment I'm playing with a variant of this one where a version of me does already exist in the Lake Placid universe when I get there- and she's a... shall we say... adult movie star XD 🤣 Its fun!
Otis: The H1000C universe. Same as the Lake Placid one above. I end up in this universe at Spaulding's petrol station with a friend from the real world (Who either knows the story or doesn't- both can be equally fun cuz I'm either freaking out with them or freaking out for the both of us XD) and get wrapped up in the story with the main victims while trying to get the hell out before Otis sees me cuz n o I don't wanna get m u r d e r e d thank you very much-
Any of them: Switcheroo. They get dumped in t h i s (o u r) universe/timeline. And I have to keep them hidden so no one recognises them as their actor in public.
Any of them: Switcheroo Variant. We both end up in a separate universe and have to work together to get the hell out. Catch? This universe already has a version of them (A different character by the same actor. For example if the focus F/O is Jim it could be the ANOES universe. Or if the focus F/O is Otis, it could be Texas Chainsaw Massacre! XD) and possibly a different version of me as well and we have to avoid meeting/making eye contact with these other versions in order to avoid a fault in the space time continuum or whatever 😅 (And also avoid other problems that might come along with meeting characters like Freddy Krueger or Inkubus or Chop Top Sawyer🙃)
So yes... I do like to use the real me in my F/O fantasies (feels more personal for me ^^) but its not always the real world XD Its not always their fictional world. A lot of the time its just random 😅 Its completely up to you individually what you do with your daydreaming! ^^ It is s o so individual and self indulgent.

Tasuku Hatanaka Interview
—When you were playing Reki, what sort of direction did you receive from the staff? What did you consider important to your portrayal?
Generally, I kept in mind that he's straightforward and honest about what he likes to do. What I remember most about the direction was in episode 2, when Reki was teaching Langa how to skate, I was told to support him while enjoying myself too. The director told me we were having fun because we were doing it together, that it was exciting to be skating together, and that direction really resonated with me. When I was playing Reki, I really wanted to honestly feel that fun and excitement.
—In episode 4, Reki had a BEEF with ADAM. What were your impressions, or what do you remember most from recording?
ADAM-sama was terrifying. I was scared because I had no idea what made him the way he was or how a person like that could come to be, and even his skating technique was so off the rails that I felt like no one could match up to him, like he's from a different world. Hearing Koyasu-san's outrageous performance was way beyond my expectations, and I got struck with the feeling like, "Oh, I'm totally going to die." It was a really exhausting recording session.
—In episode 6, Reki got to enjoy the beach and the hot springs with Langa and the others and get covered in mud, and it made a really fun episode. What were your impressions and memories from recording?
It was like our ultimate prize, wasn't it? I really enjoyed getting to act in that one. All the actors got really into it and recorded together, and it was really fun to work alongside them. During the scene where we get attacked by Paantu, Chiaki-kun and I were both shouting like crazy, probably the most we've had to scream in all the episodes so far. It made me dizzy, but that was fun too! It's a great memory.
—Leading up to episode 7, there's been a gradually growing distance between Reki and Langa, but could you tell us your impressions of Reki's conflict and what Langa is to Reki?
I thought, wow, I've felt just like that. I'm sure everyone's felt that way at some point in their lives, but Reki's feelings were so real to me that it was painful to play the role, and it made me feel really lonely because I couldn't treat it like it was someone else's problem. He wouldn't have had a taste of these feelings if he hadn't spent time together with Langa, and you could say Langa's taught Reki everything he knows about himself. It really is harsh.
—Are there any other scenes in the story so far that have made a lasting impression on you?
After seeing episode 7, I want to look back on episodes 1 and 2. I want to treasure all the feelings in those episodes, and try and search for if there aren't any hints leading to where they are now. The day they first met, the scenes where they practiced together, the excitement they felt, stuff like that. I think episodes 1 and 2 were really tightly packed. Hang in there, Reki.
—Is there anything coming up in the story that you thing we should pay close attention to?
Right. Langa and ADAM-sama's relationship, for example, that's definitely the major thing to pay attention to. Just where are those two going to go from here? And it'll be interesting to see what path Reki is going to choose, too. I'll support him whatever direction he takes. But I really want to see him smile one more time. How things are now is too painful. Anyway, you should pay attention to the whole cast. It feels like everyone has something ahead of them that they have to overcome. Good luck, everyone! I just have to support all of them.

June 2023 Collection Update: The Iceberg
You know the comparison I'm making here. You start at the tip of the iceberg, and think it's not too bad, then you continue working your way down.... and it just keeps going, never seeming to stop. Well, I think I've made it past the surface of the iceberg, and am staring down the absolute scale of what remains submerged. So yeah, Mt. Everest is left to climb still, but I've also got a pretty sizeable hill behind me to share.
I'll start with a haul that came in today (and one I picked up yesterday). Used manga and light novels has been a gold mine for me lately, though you do have to be careful with some listings as you might get volumes in worse conditions than they appear (though most of the time not something sandpaper can't fix).
The No Game No Life was just sorta a bonus to the Is This A Zombie?, but it actually helped bring down the cost per volume thanks to a deal I made (always try and barter for a few dollars here and there through stuff like FB Marketplace and Mercari and the like). I'd been looking for Is This A Zombie? for a while though, and was incredibly excited to come across a completed set. Though I do wish they'd bring the light novels over.
Following this up, or I guess coming before it(?), was this very interesting manga haul which is best explained as a story.
Originally, I had found a dirt cheap Rosario to Vampire manga box set on Facebook Marketplace (to the tune of 90CAD), and asked about getting more pictures because the only image was of the outside of the box set. Seller doesn't respond for a week, and then sends the image out of nowhere. I talk about going through with the sale and getting a shipping label sorted out (cause even with shipping it'd be crazy cheap). They don't respond, at least not until Thursday of last week which was about another week's wait. They say "hey, I'm going to be in your city on Sunday, are you good to meet me to pick up the set?". Immediately, I feel like I'm either going to get scammed or mugged, but it was neither. They show up with the 90 dollar box set and I leave with all my organs and my wallet alongside the box set.
Now, onto a bit of explanation. As you could tell from the images above, I'm kinda running out of space. I know, I need to get another bookshelf to store it all on, but finding the right spot for it and getting a cheaper Billy is a PITA, so instead I've been putting that focus and effort into finding more and more cool sets and series.
Like this Reiko The Zombie Shop. It's an older Josei horror series which I thought was super cool, and when I found a listing for it for just around 10CAD a vol I jumped on it. It's a very interesting piece of history to have from Dark Horse as they only printed it to the halfway point, though it's also a very intriguing read. Leans very heavy into gore and that very "serious but not all that great" story.
Equal parts crazy and cool though, this Empty Box and Zeroth Maria set. If memory serves, it was less than 10CAD a volume for such a hard to find set. Unbelievably happy to have such a well maintained set in my collection, and am 100% going to be sharing the love/set with friends.
Just a side note, the seller I got it from was super cool, as I got a partial set of Konosuba from them as well for the same price. Once more, Facebook Marketplace, so if you're looking for good deals on used series, I can't recommend checking out what's around you enough.
The good deals just keep on coming, huh. Hit the jackpot with this Rose of Versailles set. I was just going to bide my time until the end of year Indigo hardcover sale, and see if I could try my luck on finding them in store at a good price, but came across this listing for 100CAD and immediately jumped on it, since it works out to be massively cheaper than the Indigo 30% off hardcovers they do at year's end.
And I have to say, Udon hardcovers are outstanding. The Rose of Versailles of course stands at the top with it's wonderfully intricate cover design and heavy and glossy paper, but their other titles are no slouches either.
Just take a look at this Summertime Rendering (and Darling In The Franxx) set. Sometimes you'll come across things you just can't refuse. This listing was one of them. Summertime Rendering and DiTF for less than the retail of Summertime Rendering. Good deal, especially when you factor in that DiTF is still sealed, and that the seller never read Summertime Rendering.
But at the same time, getting books in conditions like this feels a bit sad almost. The seller was getting rid of their collection because they needed to repay students loans, so a lot of it was untouched and at very cheap prices. If I were to go back and do it again, I probably would have just sent money to them rather than purchased the sets, as I feel somewhat guilty having these when I'm able to pay retail for them no problem. But I can't revisit the past, so at the very least I'm glad I had the humility to not try and work them down on price, and will certainly be reading them over and over (DiTF is still on the TBR list right now though).
And last but not least for the used hauls, this super weird set. I got the whole thing for 5CAD a volume, which is a pretty great deal, and includes a lot of interesting things. Hidamari Sketch (I refuse to call it Sunshine Sketch), GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class and Bamboo Blade (not shown), and this very odd helping of loose stuff that includes an old style Seven Seas LN, a child's manga, and a very unique volume from a defunct publisher.
I couldn't help but go for it when I saw the oddities and old series that were within. Hidamari Sketch in particular is a headache and a half to collect, and I'd never even seen a volume of Iono-Sama Fanatics before. Very cool stuff, and definitely things I wanted to share. I never even knew Seven Seas used to print light novels so small, and seeing the difference in paper quality circa Spring 2010 was very interesting as well.
Now, last but not least, Jojos. I waited a very long time to buy these at retail, and am incredibly sad that the box for Jojoveller came crumpled in that one corner (already talked it out with support, and got a refund on it), but thankfully the books inside are intact. But man, these things are cool as all hell, I'll absolutely be sharing a post of them (alongside Jojo 6521) down the road.
And that's where I am, collecting an insane number of series and art books, and continuing to realize just how wide this world of manga is that I've immersed myself in. It's incredibly daunting thinking about the numbers I'm racking up, but at the same time it's such an amazing hobby that I'm able to support. There's a world of stuff out there, and I want to experience that all.

Hello I'd like a matchup please for bg3, I already sent a request for my Tav but I recently updated her so I'm gonna send another if that's okay, you can just forget about my previous request.
My Tav's name is Nixie Stormchapel, a mephistopheles tiefling, storm sorcerer. She is bisexual but prefers men. She's chaotic neutral and a pirate. Her father, a pirate captain, took her in at a young age when her mother passed so she was raised on a ship, he wasn't the best father but he taught her what she needed to know to survive. He died when she was 18 from a kraken attack which Nixie slayed, making her the new captain, her crew loves and respects her greatly. She's 28 years old, 5'4, has long wavy auburn hair, lavender skin and black eyes with electric blue pupils, her eye was scratched out by a siren so she wears an eyepatch, has a tattoo on her left side that come to her torso all the way to her thigh of a pirate ship being taken down by a kraken, and has a small tooth gap that she is insecure about so when she laughs or smiles she covers it with her hand. She's very crude, chaotic, has absolutely no filter once so ever, is slow to trust, but once she does trust someone she's very affectionate, her love language is gift giving and words of affirmation, loves to give her treasures to those she loves and compliments them constantly, but she also tends to butter people up to get what she wants but if she cares for you that isn't the case, it's genuine. She loves shiny things, so she's decked in jewelry, has rings on each finger, wears multiple necklaces and even has some dangling on her horns. She's very well kept for a pirate, sure she doesn't have manners but she takes very good care of her horns, which she takes deep pride of and her hair as well as her nails which she paints often. She has an intense fear of getting scurvy so adds lemon to her daily diet, and also forces her loved ones to also implement it into theirs in fear of them getting scurvy. In her free time she reads pirate erotica, going to the tavern for some rum, and builds model ships but keeps that hobby secret cause she doesn't want people calling her a nerd. When in combat she uses a cutlass sword along with her sorcery, her favorite spell is Witch Bolt.

When they first meet it’s an unlikely thought for Astarion to be with someone like her.
So imagine his confusion when he started catching feelings. He tried to push them down at first, but they just came back up every time he saw her smile and laugh.
It did take him some time to admit it, and he might act like he doesn’t like the affection, but trust me he does.
He’s more than happy to help her with painting her nails or any sort of self care stuff, he’s there for it.
Best fashion advisor lol
I imagine it does take some time to adjust to the differences between them, but once they do they’re an absolute power couple.

Publishing Databases, A Helpful Post
Okay so I didn't realize that a lot of people didn't know about these, so I'm making a post about them to hopefully help people outing get y'all working towards getting published.
Disclaimer: this is for short fiction only, but also poetry, short creative nonfiction, that kind of thing. Magazine submissions, ya know? I don't really do long-form stuff, that's entirely out of my domain, and ALSO- the use of these tools does not guarantee publication, they're just some useful tools that I really like!
First and foremost (not because I like this one more than the other, just because I've been using it a little longer) we have The Submission Grinder!
The behemoth, she's a delight, she's perfect, she will help you with everything you never knew you needed to know, AND THEN SOME. Basically what it is is a giant database full of all sorts of various markets and magazines and places seeking work. You can log your pieces based on genre and word count and then search for where you can submit those pieces to based on those things (and also based on whether or not they pay and how much they pay per piece or per word!)
I've been on submission grinder a while now and I absolutely love the way they run things there. Another massive benefit is that I can see how long they typically take to respond to other people based on averages, and can see when other people are logging rejections and acceptances for the pieces they've submitted to the same places as you.
I will say, the formatting can take some getting used to, and it can very much be intimidating to someone who's never looked at this style of website before. That's why.......
Next and nextmost, we have Chill Subs!
I adore Chill Subs, even though I've only been exploring the site for a few days. Obviously it doesn't have as large of a database as Submission Grinder, and most of the markets on there are indie and other things like that, but I think the website is so user friendly, and some of the publications are SO cool and interesting. I also really love the function that allows you to search by "vibe" (so basically if a publication is UBER SUPER PROFESSIONAL or just like... chill and cool, send us whatever, ya know?)
It's a database just like Submission Grinder, but they don't track the progress of individual pieces (though you can use it to track submissions, it's hard to explain here but if you set up a profile you can see what I mean.) Additionally, you can advertise services on Chill Subs, like editing, feedback, things like that that you'd like people to hire you for! Very fun!
I realized that lots of people don't exactly know where to begin when it comes to submitting things, but these two places are excellent examples for resources you can use to do exactly that. (Also, it doesn't hurt to simply start googling Lit Mags Accepting Submissions to find out what sorts of places you might want to shoot for)

hey andie, i've been a long time reader of your work and you've been one of my inspirations to actually post my own fics! do you have any tips to get started?
Ahhh omg!! I am so deeply honored omg, and so so proud of you!! What a huge step!! Is there a particular thing you have questions on?? I'm happy to help however I can!!
In terms of more general advice, though, I think probably the best thing I can tell you is take time to prepare yourself for feedback!! Whether you ask for it or not, feedback is going to find you once your stuff is up on the internet, whether it's a super sweet comment that makes your entire week, or a 4/10 rating in someone's public ao3 bookmarks (yes that has happened to me a few times💀).
For the most part getting feedback is amazing because people are so unbelievably kind and they phrase things in ways that just make you want to roll in those comments like a dog in the dirt lmao. And sometimes people give critique but you can just sense they want to be helpful to you and it kind of touches you in a weird way even though they are picking you apart in front of god and everyone lol.
But even well-meaning criticism can sometimes deal psychic damage, to be frank. I openly ask for constructive critique but even then a lot of it is not helpful. People are very poorly informed even about the objective of concrit, which is to help the author tell a compelling version of the story they want to tell, not to dictate what you would personally find satisfying in a story. So often you will get a lot of subjective commentary, and you will need to be able to determine where it falls in terms of usefulness to your growth.
There are also rare cases where a very not well-meaning person who is just having a bad time comes across you and thinks you are the perfect person to take their issues out on. I recommend just deleting these comments or messages or whatever because they are not worth your time, and their objective is not actually to help you improve or become a better writer. It's just to be a shit.
So TLDR, just be prepared for other people to give their opinion, solicited or otherwise, and be prepared to sort through what is actually valuable feedback and what is just like, some rando who wants a personally-tailored fic or is being a butthead.
But know that it's gonna be so so so worth it in the end because you get to have a thing that you made out there in the world!! And it will help you connect with other people in ways you never have before and it's gonna be amazing!!!!

Hey, sorry to bug you, I feel like I send you maybe too many asks, but I think I saw you recently say that you have run a lot of wikis?
I'm currently working on my first ever novel and it's pretty hard sci-fi. My dad is my beta reader, and doing a great job, but it would be really useful if I could run some sort of private wiki the both of us could access so he can check on the extended lore as he's reading. Currently I have all that stuff saved in a freemind mind map but it's a bit clunky to keep sending him the file.
Is there a super novice friendly platform you would recommend where I could make a private wiki for the two of us. Cost is a medium concern and obviously free would be lovely, but I am willing to pay a reasonable amount.

You can find a list of wiki hosts, including some free ones, here. I strongly advise you to take a few extra steps and set up your own wiki for this rather than going with a site like Fandom that allows you to make a "free" wiki, for the express purpose of protecting your IP.
Anytime you are not paying for a service, you are the product, and a lot of those sites have T&C which say anything you put on them belongs to them or is licensed under a Creative Commons license. Whatever the actual terms and conditions, that's just no good for publishers or for protecting yourself.
Note this at the bottom of the page I linked: Content is available under CC BY-SA 3.0 unless otherwise noted. On a wiki you own, you can change those terms, so you can reserve your copyright fully and keep your ideas your own (I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice, please double-check my words with a lawyer not on Tumblr before making a final decision).
The wikis I've done have mostly been for RPGs and the like, FTR. Wiki code is not very difficult at all -- and pretty intuitive once you get used to it. There's a guide to setting up and editing MediaWiki here and options for password-protected wikis here.
Also, register your domain through literally anyone but GoDaddy, they suck. I use NameCheap.

Everything you mentioned was actually so on point, I'm definitely kind of wasting sm of my time on phone/screen and most of the above always distracted with something which does allows me to Focus especially recently. You are so right that i need to take a moment alone and he with myself, I've been seeing synchronicities but I'm too much in my brain/distracted to actually realise what's happening. So I'm definitely going to sit down and meditate for few minutes to relax my mind and see what's coming up!! As I'm definitely sort of pushing my emotions away. About someone's energy reaching me out..I feel hugs sometimes honestly but i think what if I'm just delusional? Like last night I was just feeling as if someone is hugging me from behind? While I wasn't even thinking about any romantic interactios with anyone or fantasizing. Like lately my brain has been in this energy of being in someone's arms or just experiencing romance..? It's actually so strange because my focus is definitely not at all on relationships or i actually have any interactions with someone in real life as I'm staying home most of the time and away from people. I sighed as I turned on the manual drive system. Driving always gave me a sort of calm - something to focus on and quiet running thoughts. I floored it going onto the tunnel leaving Windenburg heading down to Newcrest turnpike, my detail falling behind - hoping to lose them in the early morning traffic.
The early morning DJs had switched to other topics of conversation but I could only imagine my wife's rage when she'd hear about it. She was angry enough that our daughter had brought her boyfriend, but to hear 'hot and heavy'? I winced. It wouldn't come from me. I didn't know if it was an act of rebellion or a way of protecting the man but I do know that Vera always has a reason behind her actions. And considering how discrete she always had been, she was sending a message. One I didn't understand, but I suppose the message hadn't been meant for me.
Whatever it was, to say Emilia was pissed was an understatement - which is why I was now barreling down the turnpike to Newcrest; she wouldn't have been in a place to handle this delicately. I quickly passed the north side that had been part of my family's territory for generations into the buffer zone that we'd agreed upon with the Landgraabs - back when our families were little more than bands fighting over rubble.
I almost admired her ingenuity to hide herself here. Not that it mattered. Once my wife had a sneaking suspicion about why she wasn't in medical school, she would have sniffed her out even if she had ran to Sulani. Territory or no, she would have jumped in and lit up anyone in the way. That's what I loved about Emilia, her tenacity. Her fearlessness. But my wife on a visit to someone when she was already outraged? Well, that was not the makings of a good first impression.
I frowned as the GPS chimed to take an exit on a road lined with rundown strip malls, a few looking to be mostly vacant. I didn't feel any better when I turned down the road to go to my target's apartment - there were multiple complexes, most had the look of old, repurposed motels. I was only slightly relieved to see the complex she resided in seemed to be newer.
There were children riding in circles on the lawn and parking lot, one stopping to ogle my car. I smiled at him politely as I killed the engine and stepped out. "Braden! Come back up here!," yelled a woman from her seat outside of her apartment.
The boy, Braden presumably, ignored her. "Cool car!" he squeals, hopping from foot to foot. "Does it go really fast? I bet it goes super fast!"
"Braden!" can the voice again.
"It does," I tell him. "Say, if I paid you, would you watch my car for me? Make sure no one scratches it?"
"Really? Okay!" The child's eyes grow wide as I opened my wallet and handed him a few bills,"Oh! Oh! Do you mean it? I can keep all of this?"
"Absolutely." I stuff the wallet in my back pocket.
"Can my friends help me?"
"If you want them to. It's up to you if you want to pay them, too."
I walk past the child as he calls out to his friends and they exclaim in excitement. "Braden!"
"He's working for me right now," I chuckle but the woman doesn't smile or laugh back.
"He's a good boy. I don't want him involved with none of that. And he's not missing the bus just to watch your car neither."
I don't respond as I go up the stairs, shaking my head. It wasn't as if I actually cared if that car was scratched or not, it was a delight to see how excited the kid was. A reminder of my boys who'd grown out of that stage long ago.
I reached the apartment I was looking for and knocked loudly on the door. There were quiet sounds coming from behind it but no answer. I knocked again, "Ms. White, I know you're in there and if you don't answer, I'm coming in anyway."
"I-I'll call the police!" she warns.
"Good luck," I scoff. "Open up. Now."
The door cracks open and there she stands, body blocking the entryway, arms crossed, "What do you want?" she demands.

(My response) Woooww a follow up from a previous anon. That's a rare thing to come across! I appreciate you reaching back out and I also appreciate your receptiveness to my advice! Take notes men, don't ask for advice if you're not prepared to recieve advice that you may not enjoy hearing. This is wonderful to hear, I'm glad you're going to do some soul searching! I understand being young and wanting to figure things out while still managing to gain expereince. It's easier to send you in a direction that I think you wanna go in when you open up a little more about yourself. So for your soul searching and experience gaining I have some tips:
If you're gonna pursue a big gal on a normie side (tinder, bumble, hinge etc.) - treat her like a normal girl. Even though you have a fat fetish, don't fetishize her. Don't tell her that the things you like most about her are her fat parts. Maybe leave out your fetish altogether until you get to know her better. Some fat girls come with insecurities. If you want a confident fat girl then help give her some confidence (again without fetishizing her).
Be honest. If you meet a gal and don't love the idea of dating her but wanna still interact with her, maybe on a sexual level then say that. Be open about what your intentions are and what you're looking for and it will be hard to crush someones expectations.
I would HIGHLY suggest telling a girl, that you become serious with, about your fetish. You don't have to and you know yourself better than I do but if Feedism is gonna be something you still pursue online in the form of porn or anything like that- then it's important to lay all your cards out on the table so she isn't suprised when she accidentally comes upon that. It can cause a world of hurt so prevent that from happening. I trust that you'll know when the time is right to reveal that secret.

It's a bit outdaded now but I just thought of it. Remember that whole paris bed bug thing that may or may not have been started by one random guy called "Le punaiseur fou" on a french video game forum called 18-25 ?
Well, I just remembered a slightly funny story about that same forum. A few years ago some guy leaked a few email logins for a town called Pontcarré, including the mayor's email. Some users decided, among other things, to send an email to the regional administration declaring their secession from the republic of France. They even changed the Wikipedia page + underlying wikidata pages to the "Kingdom of Pontcarré".
I remember it because I was there, laughing my ass off the whole time, and today I passed through that town and I suddenly remembered all of it. Good times.
Did the bedbug thing finally die down or are goings on in western Asia just pushing it out of the news?

I remember an article like 10 or so years ago someone was detailing their escape from a bedbug infestation and all the crap they had to do which included getting rid of all the furniture that had any fabric on it.
Put it out on the sidewalk so the sanitation department can haul it off with several big signs on it saying "Infested with bed bugs you don't want this stuff" but people are stupid and took it anyway.
Bet that was fun for them.
Looking for anything to do with the prank, not seeing anything in English and couldn't guess if I'm seeing anything right in French, but I'm sort of reminded of the "conch republic" few islands in the Florida Keys seceded from the US, declared war on the US, and then applied for several billion in foreign aid iirc.
They even have a flag
I love things like that, creative shenanigans are good for a laugh

Thank you much! I wrote some replies to this, all which ended up rather long winded, so instead as short as possible reply for you and others.
I really just love making music. I'm mostly a musician, songwriter, composer. Piano/keys but I play a lot of musical instruments or use things for soundmaking. I do have many sorts of visual arts posted but I'm 99.9999% certain you mean the recent deluge of AI assisted images I've been sharing which, are a blend of AI, diffusion/Midjourney, personal images, photos, but those are not real objects as far as all those terrariums etc go.
I try to actually tag anything I use for the most or just add 'generative'. Anything that doesn't pick up crypto peeps really. Anyhow, it's all more of a dreaming visual diary for myself and others. Or a bit of visual reflection of my musical brainscapes. I often use a mix of my own photographs images, fed into an ai model or two. But I don't promote myself as an artist really. I don't even mind selling prints of mine for the sake of health care and rations but, otherwise it's for just ideation, inspiration, dreams. People can enjoy it any way they want.
There's a lot I could say about it all and the good and terrible of ai or tech in general but would take up too much space here, I'm really not much of a tech bro person either, but I don't hate machines. We are an entire universe of jiggly energy so, whatever. At very least I like the notion of infecting such things with as much love and beauty and good ole weirdness especially if some is unstoppable for better and worse. This is all for the sake of it. Really, a ton of those images are already made so, vs just leaving them in a folder I figure I may as well share some for others to see.
Anyhow, thank you kindly Lona - and anyone else, if you like the images/blog feel free to check out my bandcamp or soundcloud or my music/video posts here. I think its rather visual and odd beautiful in its own ways also. Sorry for the longish reply but it's also for others who wonder or who send me inquiries lately.

I love 'art' being for personal expression or communication of things which go beyond language and reference, for music at least. Yet I also love the romantic notion reflecting things which leave us in a state of wonder that seem larger, Nature, etc. VS just self expression and human stuffs. I guess to me I don't see much point of personal expression if it doesn't include a bit of awareness of not being the center of the universes.
Most of all I'm a biopheliac and sound lover. Very open always for collabs of artistic natures as well. Music, arts, film, games, public expressive dance terrorism, whatever.

She woke up before Matt the next morning, almost hesitant to let him know she was leaving.
Cat had no self-control when it came to this sort of stuff. It wasn't that she didn't like him anymore, but sleeping with one of her exes wasn't what others would call improvement. Then she thought that even though she'd been the one who had fallen first, it had been him reaching down to kiss her after claiming he only wanted to be friends. That made her laugh.
Matt stirred on the bed at the sound, he sat up and spoke to her groggily. "You're leaving?"
"Yeah," she was packing as fast as she could. "I'll get off your back for a while. Permanently, if this works."
"And you were leaving without saying goodbye," he pushed the sheets away and got up to get dressed. "I feel used."
"I thought you liked that?" She teased him.
"Only when I consent."
"You looked quite willing last night..." Cat looked at him, hair tousled and no shirt on. She wanted to make sure they were on the same page, but talking about it felt like it meant something, and she didn't want that. "I'll call you."
"Okay."
"Take care."
"Why do I feel like a one-night stand?" He laughed.
Why was she so awkward now? Matt wasn't smitten, he was himself. Was it her? Was she the one fighting against unwanted feelings? Did she even want to know what she was feeling at all?
Cat walked up to him and reached for his face, the mutant gazed at his features carefully. Matt let her stare. One of his hands softly caressed the crook of her elbow, he had a tender expression on his face, glad to have a reason to touch her.
As if her feelings weren't confusing enough, she blurted out a request. "Can I get a kiss for good luck?"
Matthew's eyes wrinkled cutely as he grinned. "You can have two."
She'd barely stepped off New Asgard's landing platform when a familiar voice spoke from her left.
"You had to make an entrance..."
Cat froze and looked at Nightcrawler with eager eyes, she clasped her hands together, and the urge to apologize came to her, but something different came out of her mouth. "Are you really going to punch me?"
"I'm dying to," he moved away from the pillar and approached her. Cat closed her eyes, the air got taken out of her lungs by the strongest bear hug of her life. "I'll do it later."
Cat wrapped her arms around him and took a shaky breath. They were together, nothing else mattered. "I'm sorry."
"It doesn't mean you won't do it again."
She moved to look at him. Kurt had a scar above his brow and another one on the bridge of his nose. "I'm done lying."
Kurt's eyes found the scars around her throat, his voice came full of hurt. "I wish I could believe you."
Cat understood. She'd done many awful things in the past, abandoning him wasn't even the worse of it. When it came to her safety, she would have to show him with actions that she really meant to look after herself now.
"Are you hungry?" She cupped his face, eyes lingering on the fur around his throat, still scorched but healing. "We have a long journey ahead of us, and you have to tell me all about your visit to the Guardians."
"My visit to the Guardians... reminds me," he pulled something out of the leather bag he was carrying. "Rocket sent this... with a message." It was a blaster, not as big as her last, but she could tell her friend had made it. Cat held it in awe. "He says that if you die and he's not here to see you go, he'll take make a necklace with your claws and he'll send it to Quill as a present saying they're shark teeth."
"He sure knows how to motivate me," Cat made a face. "Wait, send it to Quill? Is he not with them?"
"He came back with me," Kurt was acting weird. "Crazy things happened, but you know Rocket is saying that he loves you and he's glad you're okay."
"I wish he would just say that," she complained. Then she rubbed Kurt's arm, the way he was talking about his time in space made her uneasy. "Is everything okay?"
His brow furrowed like he wasn't sure he could speak about it. "I'll tell you about it once we're in my place."
Back in Kurt's old house, the young man made lunch for them and told her all about his latest adventure with the Guardians, she got upset when she heard Rocket's crazy creator had decided to hunt him down just like Kraven was doing to them, but then she felt better when she found out the guardians went all out just to save him. They really were Rocket's family.
That's why it surprised her even more when she heard they had parted ways.
"Just like that?"
"Yeah," Kurt smiled at her teasingly. "Quill lives right around the corner, he might even visit you one day!"
She scowled. "Don't joke like that, dude."
He laughed. "He's much more likable now, though! I lived with him for a whole month, and we got along just fine, I think you'd like him if you give him a chance."
Cat hesitated. "You're being serious."
"I am," his gaze turned hazy. "We all went through stuff while saving Rocket... that whole thing with his crazy scientist..."
"I feel like you're not telling me everything," she said doubtfully.
"I can't," she was shocked to hear his voice quivering. "I know how easily you blame yourself for things that you were not even there to witness. You're better off not knowing."
That was not soothing, but she let it go. Maybe he would tell her about it later. She decided to change the subject and explained her idea. She finished at the same time Kurt was done cooking.
"Are you sure we're enough to cover Madripoor?" He placed a plate in front of her.
"It'll be fine," she assured him. "Russo can't go anywhere without showing off. We need to be careful when we start asking questions, though, but I think we'll know if we're in danger."
"He's got guys with big noisy guns that will be pointed at us as soon as we enter the perimeter."
"We are the best-trained mutants Kraven ever found," Cat insisted. "Russo's guard is a joke compared to us! Besides, I have someone ready to help us out if we get cornered."
He frowned. "That widow you used to work with? Or is it Kate?"
"No," Cat gave him a sweet smile. "An old acquaintance."
"The way you phrase it makes me feel like I can't trust you."
"Hey, there was a time in which being your friend was problematic, but I stuck around!" She reminded him. "This guy isn't so bad, he's fun!"
"Your idea of fun is on the murderous side," he stated bluntly. "I know I used to be like that, but I'm not looking forward to meeting another one of us."
"We're getting sidetracked here," she dismissed it. "He'll help us if it comes down to it, but I'm sure it'll be just you and me, like old times."
"Promise me you're not planning on making a vest bomb to blow up Russo like last time. Swear it on Rocket's life," he urged her.
"You remember Rocket has given us permission to give our word over his life, then lie, right?"
"Swear it on Felix, then!"
"Smurf, I don't do things twice unless they're hot people or I'm getting paid," Kurt glared at her, Cat tried to ease him by patting his hand. "What these men did was one of the worse things I've had to endure... and I'm not talking about what they did to me. I didn't know I was capable of caring for someone that much until I saw you in the cage..."
Kurt tilted his head and squinted. "Are you confessing to me? Cause I have to say, Mimi, this is not—"
Cat slapped his hand away. "This is what I get for trying to share my feelings."
Kurt seized her hand again and squeezed it. "I'm pulling your tail. I just want to be sure that we have more than one route of escape."
"We don't need more, just a really good one!" Cat took a bite of her lunch and glanced at Kurt, he was staring at her with a smirk. "What?"
"You sounded super pressed," he snorted. "'This is what I get for sharing my feelings', an ex of yours is nagging you again?" Cat didn't reply, but Kurt knew which buttons to press. "You came back about a week ago, but you're not staying in your apartment..."
"Smurf," she warned him.
He had a taunting smile on his face. "Which one is it nowadays, Spider-man or Daredevil?"
She grabbed her plate and got up, deciding to eat in the living room.
"Better!" He began to laugh. "Is it Bucky Barnes or She-Hulk?"
Cat hurled the plate at his head, but he stopped it before it could crack his skull.
Cat pulled something out of her pocket and stared at it for a moment before entering the city.
"What's that about?" Kurt nudged her arm.
"A photo," she put it away.
"Why did you bring it?"
Cat shrugged. "Webs gave it to me..."
"The Webs from the other universe?"
"Yeah. It's just a token of good luck."
"Is it a token, or does it remind you of something?" He pressed.
"You're not gonna drop it until I tell you what happened, right?" She frowned.
"You know I love gossip. More so when it's yours."
Cat sighed. "He put back together the beeper, the tech in his universe isn't like ours, so it took a while. I stayed in his apartment in the meantime."
"What did you do while you were there?"
"Had a normal life," she said, trying to sound bored. "I couldn't fight crime like I would've done here, we didn't want to bring attention to the fact that there was another hero in the city, although I did go out a night or two, he made me a suit..."
"He made you a suit? That's so sweet," he mocked her.
Cat punched his shoulder. "He was trying to cheer me up! I was stranded there, he feared I would lash out."
"And did you?"
"No," she avoided his gaze. "I was happy to be out of here."
Kurt stopped. "Really?"
"It's got nothing to do with you, or anyone," she was quick to elaborate. "I was exhausted. I mean, I tried to die, Kurt, I didn't want to keep running..."
"And being in another universe made you feel better?"
"I was a New Yorker minding her business. And the webhead was really nice to me, his aunt as well..."
"You met his family?" He whistled. "You guys were going for it."
She scowled. "It was nothing. She worked at a charity and Spidey thought it'd keep me busy while he fixed the beeper— he had a whole life that couldn't be paused just for my sake."
"Is he single? It sounds like he was placing all of his efforts on making you feel better, I mean, for a guy who claims to have such a busy life— Making you suits, building a machine to bring you back..."
Cat hadn't allowed herself to think of it, she didn't want to yearn for something that wasn't real. "It's a small world, fewer problems... comes with fewer friends as well."
He hummed. "No Nightcrawler to replace me?"
"I wouldn't look for him," she hugged him. "One is enough crap to handle."
He pocked her ribs. "Jerk."
"Okay, so life was bearable, what about your roommate?"
"He's a good guy."
"Do you like him?"
She hesitated. "Are you asking me about my current roommate or the one I had in the other universe?"
Kurt grinned. "Your choice."
"Well, you know Spider-Man, they're hard to hate."
"And the one you have now?"
All those questions were perfectly reasonable, but they were making her nervous. "He's nice too."
Kurt hummed, his voice turned curious. "If you could travel to the other place, would you—"
"Yeah, for the fun of it," she replied before he could finish. "But that's not gonna happen. You done?"
"I just wanna know, if you could live in another universe..."
Cat groaned. "I don't like playing the 'ifs' game."
"I was just—"
"Usually, when people 'just ask', feelings end up hurt in the process," she sent him an annoyed look.
Kurt sighed. "Okay."
