as promised... something!
....::::**•°✾°•**::::........::::**•°✾°•**::::.... ....::::**•°✾°•**::::....
She hears the distinctive sound of the WhatsApp video call. Its weird when they're in different countries, the mode of communication changes time and time again to avoid crazy roaming charges. She's used to being able to call him quick using the regular phone app, to see if he wanted her to pick up dinner or to ask him nicely if he would switch her laundry out for her.
It's weird to start over on another app, it almost feels like they're starting another relationship. It feels so different. The inside jokes and frequent questions about the HBO password are nowhere to be found, in it's place is an empty blank page, waiting hopefully to be filled with the same.
She picks up her phone from the edge of the bed and swipes to answer the call. She looks at the time when she does, 10:04, almost five minutes late for their scheduled call.
At least that has stayed the same.
The slight hum of the highway plays in the background, and there Andrew sits. He looks tired, but not over consumed. It's a good kind of tired, like the kind you get after a good, but long day. More of a content-tired. His hair is in the messiest bun possible, obvious that he needed it out of the way and had lost all ability to care. He's got his glasses on, and Y/N remembers when he Facetimed her from the eye doctor to see if they looked good before he ordered them.
She internally thinks that they still do.
"Hey love", he finally speaks between bites of a sandwich. She looks down at the table the phone is propped on, and sees the distinctive red and white wrappings.
"Are you kidding, you went to Wawa without me..."
"I'm sorry! The band voted before we left Philly! I told them you'd be mad but they don't seem to care about my marriage so... I had to"
"This is a betrayal, of the highest degree. I can't picture a world where I can forgive you"
"If I could ship one across the Atlantic to you, you know I would"
There is a few beats of silence, they both know that statement means more than just a sandwich.
She finally breaks,
"How are you holding up?"
"Eh, not bad. I've not been this tired in a while but I'll get used to it soon. I've done it before."
"It's quiet in the bus, where is everyone else?"
"Sleeping"
"So everyone else is sleeping and you stayed up to call me?
He takes another bite of his sandwich before answering simply,
"Yeah."
She stares at him through the phone as he keeps eating like he doesn't understand the niceness of his actions, it's just second nature to him.
"Thank you," she says, voice full of genuine earnestness.
He doesn't respond to that, instead, he switches to another topic. He doesn't feel like he needs thanks for his actions, he would rather thank her for being around to call him.
"How are you at home, everything good?"
"Yeah, there was a dead bird in the yard yesterday, Elwood found it while we were playing, he almost picked it up but I got to him before he did. That's honestly the most exciting thing that's happened here since you left."
"But that's the joy of the country isn't it, that nothing ever happens?"
"Yeah. But I would rather do nothing with you than do nothing alone"
There's a long stretch of silence between them before Andy notices a tear fall down Y/N's cheek. There are no other signs of her sadness, no shaking shoulders or audible sounds. Just a few gentle tears that he would've missed if he wasn't so utterly enraptured by her face on the five-inch screen. His heart breaks.
"Hey hey, it's ok love, it's just a bit longer. I'll be home for a break in a few weeks. "
"I know. It's just really hard."
He doesn't know what to say to that at first. He wants to hammer on about how she knew what she was getting into, and this was an inevitability. But he knew she knew that. Him repeating it isn't going to make either of them feel any better. The next part of him yearned to just get on a plane and be at home, but that wasn't fair to anyone. Not his bandmates, not the concertgoers, and not Andy who loved what he did more than anything.
All he could say was
"I know."
You imagine the separation being hard but no one really prepares you for it. You can't prepare for it. It's the pain of losing a routine and a lover all at once. It's the frustration of needing help, of needing someone to take something off your plate and having someone willing to, but that someone is 1000 miles away. Literally.
She's crying a little harder now, still silent, with the tears increasing in frequency and size. He says again,
"I know. I know how hard it is cause I feel it too. You know what I miss the most right now?"
"What?"
"I miss the things that you do that piss me off. The annoying stuff. I miss how you always steal bites of my food."
She can't help but laugh at that. He keeps talking,
"I miss how cold your feet are and how you're always trying to shove them under me to warm them. And how often you leave dirty clothes on the floor."
She joins in this time,
"I miss your hair clogging the shower drain. And how you use every possible dish when you cook."
"See, doesn't it hurt a little less knowing that you don't have to unclog the shower for a while?"
"Yeah, and I'm sure you sleep easier without my cold feet poking you."
Theres another small pause, but this one is not as sad as the rest of them. This one feels like two people comfortable with each other, just basking in the silence, feeling no pressure.
"It sucks love, it really does. But it gets easier. And there are less shitty days. And it's not for forever."
"Ok, it's shitty, but I've felt shittier. And it's not for forever."
"Yeah."
"OK," she says, wiping her eyes a bit to try to show a bit of a braver face, "this is getting kind of bummer-ish, talk to me a bit about tour stuff"
For the rest of the call, he prattled on about various events and hijinks at his shows, on the road, and in between. About halfway through the story, he realized that she had fallen asleep and for some reason, he finished the story before hanging up. Possibly hoping that she would wake back up, but mostly enjoying the domestic feeling of talking to her. He eventually hung up, settling with the fact that she was indeed asleep for real. A few hours and a timezone later after he woke up from his own nap, he noticed a WhatsApp message again,
I forgot the HBO password again...

Hey, can we have a Yan!Andrew Graves with Reader?
“Your Andy”
Pairing: Yan!Andrew Graves x Reader
Prompt: They weren’t supposed to find you. He wasn’t supposed to fall in love with you. So how could this all happen?
Note: You met the sibling when you were younger and now you lived in the same apartment building as them. I decided to change some of the setting up a bit too. I honestly didn’t know which direction I wanted this story to go in, so I apologize if this is bad. NOT PROOFREAD
TW: There is death and kidnapping in this!
Tumblr media
“She’s yours, you know. Your precious secret.” His sister’s words echoed through his mind like a tsunami. His eyebrows furrowed while his heart skipped a beat. The idea of having you to himself made him happy. His sister seemed to notice, her eyes gleaming.
“But you know, she’ll never love you unless you take drastic measures. Love is a battlefield, Andrew. And you’re a soldier.” Ashley continued, “You’ve become friends with her, but now will you become more? You’ve won the battle, but can you win the war?”
Her words struck, a violent war now waging within him. He obviously didn’t want to lose you, but he also didn’t want to just stay friends. He wanted more.
Honestly it surprised him when his sister approved of his feelings for you. In the past, Ashley always wanted things to just be between the two of them. Yet, something about you was different from the others. You were accepting towards his sister and definitely more kind about the strange relationship they had as brother and sister. Maybe that’s why she let you live.
Either way, she would have to. For you were his everything. Even the thought of you has his insides burning.
Deep inside, his sister’s voice echoed: “She’s yours.”
A part of him definitely knew something was wrong. But the other side of him overlooked this and simply ignored this feeling. He wouldn't let you slip away from him.
One rainy night, you were in the kitchen of your apartment, the same apartment as Andrew and Ashley. Suddenly, you heard a loud bang next to you. It was coming from your door. You turned just as the door came flying open. Standing there was Andrew with Ashley behind him. He stretched his arm out, reaching for you.
“Come on, let’s get out of this hellhole together. We are leaving this place, and I would love it if you came with us.” You seemed to stare at him for what seemed to be too long for Ashley to intervene.
“Come on! We don’t have all night. We need to leave this place right now before we get caught!” Ashley, seeming to make the decision for you, moved her brother aside and grabbed your hand, pulling you up and dragging you out of your room. Andrew turned around and quickly followed behind.
—-
Once making out of the apartment Ashley volunteered to go out first, seeming to give her brother a look. It was then when Andrew pulled you aside. He had his head down, and when you were about to ask what’s wrong, he lifted it. His eyes now seemed to have a darker gleam to them. As you were about to speak, he put his finger to your lips, silencing you.
“Y/n, don’t you worry, I’m alright. Leyley is going to find us a place where we can all live and be happy together.”
Just as he finished, Ashley came back. “Guys, I know the perfect place where we can go.”
Turning, Andrew met his sister’s eyes. “And that is?”
“Our parent’s house! They are old and they don’t need to be living in such a nice place. I think we could live there instead.” Nodding along to his sister, Andrew gently grabs you by the hand and pulls you along.
Once they arrive at what they claimed to be their parents house, you all head in, Andrew still holding onto your hand. They are met with their mother who seemed to be very surprised to see them. The mother seemed to notice your hand intertwined with her son’s, and gave you a disapproving look. Nevertheless, she introduces herself as Mrs. Graves and that her husband, Mr. Graves should be up shortly. However her eyes never seem to stray from your intertwined hands.
A frown appears on her face as she asks her son if she can speak with him alone downstairs explaining how Mr. Graves is already down there., in the basement. While not wanting to leave your side, he agrees and tells you to stay here. Ashley, not seeming to like this, decides to follow them.
After waiting for a bit, you get bored and decide to find them. Heading down the stairs you are immediately met with the smell of blood. You cover your mouth and nose with your hand, as you keep venturing further into the basement.
“Andy! What’s taking you so long? Just hurry up and clean up this mess before Y/n comes down here herself. We are taking forever!”
Andrew just groans and retorts back, “Well I’m trying my best. You know it could go faster if you just helped me–” His words stop as he seems to make eye contact with you. “Y/n!” You shouldn’t be down here. Go back upstairs and–”
“Andy just let it go. She already saw and heard everything.” Ashely comments. Rolling his eyes at her, his face softens as he makes his way over to you.
“Look, I’m sorry that you had to see this. But this is what needed to be done,” A crazed, dark look now plastered on his face. “You see, my mom wasn’t too thrilled about seeing us together and told me that I shouldn’t be with someone like you. She even had the guts to say that if I didn’t break it off with you, then she would herself. And I couldn’t let that happen.”
“But Andy…” your voice barely above a whisper, “we were never together in the first place.”
Andrew became silent. You looked over at his sister and she had a disapproving look on her face. Just as you turned to look back at Andrew, you felt something hit against your head.
Groaning, you woke up, touching the side of your head. When your vision clears you notice that you were on a bed, not anyone you ever seen before. Looking around you, got up and noticed a picture on a desk that was directly in front of you. It was a picture of a younger Andrew and Ashley along with their parents. They seemed happy. Turning your head you saw a note and what seemed to be a remote with one button on it.
It read: “Y/n, I’m sorry for what happened yesterday. I feel bad, I truly do. But don’t worry, I won’t hurt you ever again. I just couldn't stand you saying something like that. Not when I’ve devoted myself to you, memorizing everything I could about you. You belong to me, and I’ll do anything to keep you close. If anyone dares to come between us, they’ll regret it.
The bedroom door is locked from the outside, there are no windows, and you are on the second floor of this house. If you're willing to give me a chance just press the button on the remote and I’ll let you out.
Love is a beautiful madness, and I am its most devoted disciple. So my dear Y/n, choose to stay with me and I promise to make you happy.” - Your Andy.

same hozier anon from earlier!
i was rereading your viking au and couldn't stop thinking about soap and butchered tongue!? specifically:
so far from home have a stranger call you "darling" and have your guarded heart be lifted like a child up by the hand
of course, hozier is specifically discussing the treatment of indigenous peoples and the wexford rebellion of 1978. but it got me thinking, what was soap's transition into viking life like? what is it like to speak a different language with reader when it's something shared just between them? the first time reader calls soap a term of endearment in his own mother tongue?
imo, andrew made unreal unearth with the intent of forcing us through every circle of hell and then just keeping through it all on a loop. and i thank him for it (what does that say about me).
Viking!Soap and Butchered Tongue is such a winning combination. I absolutely adore that song, it makes me tear up each time I listen to it. We'll get to Soap's backstory, his trauma, in the official story line, but for now yeah I can talk about his transition to viking life.
Strange men speaking in strange tongues, their clothing so different from his own, but their rough hands are the same, the sadness in their eyes is the same. It's human, it's familiar in a way that stings more than the cuts along Soap's face. They don't understand him when he speaks, looking between themselves, talking in quiet tones. The language they speak is rough, like hearing his own sounds jumbled back to him, but Soap's always been quick. Certain words repeat themselves, certain sounds repeated between men questioningly. He can make assumptions.
He tugs the cloak one of them men gave him tighter around his shoulders. He doesn't want to seem weak in front of them, not when they're so clearly attempting to decide what to do with him. A different man pushes the conversation apart with his mere presence, leveling Soap with an icy stare. When he opens his mouth the words that come out are rough and mispronounced, but familiar.
"You want work?"
Soap nods quickly. Work, sure. He's strong, he's smart, he'd do anything to get away from the smell of death that carried him here, he can work. Even if it's hard, even if he hates it, he can work. Anything to get off this godforsaken rock.
What he thought would take months takes mere weeks. Weeks of living with the men that call themselves vikings to pick up enough of their language to converse. "Soap" they call him.
"Because ya needed a bath," Ghost grumbles over dinner one night. Soap laughs, not because it's particularly funny, but because he understands him. It's rueful, almost despairing. He understands him. No one will ever hear the words of the Mactavishes again.
Working helps him adjust. There are things to do to keep his mind off of everything, he learns the words for ship parts before he learns colors. He knows how to count money before he learns how to introduce himself. He knows Price before he learns the word for Captain, learns not to apologize for that. He watches the sun fall, watches it rise again. He teaches Gaz a few words, stops when it makes the ache in his chest grow too big and unavoidable. They get back to his new home and he's given a share of the profits, more money than he's seen in his life. He's given a bed in the long house, warm food, new clothes, he's given a sturdy iron band to wear around his arm, if he wants.
He learns the language, the culture. He adjusts. He translates the next time they're across the sea, trading with people he no longer feels familiar to. A viking wearing his tartan over his shoulders, speaking a familiar tongue, he feels like a stranger in his homeland. He leans against Ghost by the fire, toys with the iron band around his wrist. Strangers to every land but the one that took them in.
He misses his ma.
He doesn't mention it.
He meets you like a ghost of his past. He watches your village burn and sees his own in the smoke. He hauls you off kicking and screaming, in a familiar, painful, tongue. You sound like his memories of home. You sound like the place he's never been able to forget. You mean everything to him, and you hate him.
You won't speak to him, not the way he wants you to, and it's like losing his home all over again.

Confessions
Hi!! Here is a sweet little scene with Hozier! Hope you like it, tell me what you think!
****
Pairing: Hozier x fem! Reader
Warning: just fluff!! Lots of feelings. Confessions of love. Only the sweet stuff! Mentions of sexy times, but no smut.
Summary: Andrew might be a brilliant lyricist, but he struggles when it comes to expressing his love for you. It's too overwhelming for him. Still, he will try to explain his feelings this time.
Word Count: 2240
Hozier’s Masterlist – Main Masterlist
Tumblr media
His heart is still in a rush when the thought crosses his mind. He’s still high on adrenaline and pleasure, with an erratic heartbeat and lungs ready to burst into flames. Mind clearer than usual in its ecstasy, and muscles incredibly numb after tensing to an extreme. He’s still on cloud nine, in that little bubble that follows right after orgasm, where the world is gone and there is nothing in the universe but him, the softness of sheets and the cadence of your breathing. Your fingers reach for his across the mattress, clammy with your joined efforts towards heaven, an anchor for his brain to clear the fog of physical pleasure and focus fully on you again.
And so Andrew turns his head on the pillow to look at you, as you lay there with him, across the bed you share every night. His bed, officially, but it doesn’t feel like that anymore. Ever since he’s been back from touring, you’ve only been to your place to grab some of your stuff and bring them to his place. It’s been over a month, and it feels like you live here now. In his head, you do. He’s realized that this house feels like home because you are here. He’s home because you’re lying in this bed with him instead of seeing your pixelated face on a screen. And he ponders for a moment when that shift actually happened, when home became a person rather than a place. It’s been a while, he reckons. Longer than he’s willing to admit.
Although, he could almost let himself be vulnerable enough tonight to actually accept it all. Especially now, when the sweat across his torso is starting to make him shiver, and you notice, and you tuck him in under the sheets, leaning closer as you do. You turn to your side to face him, and you truly are a sight to behold. And Andrew thinks about your hand still in his and how he wishes he could hold it forever.
Yeah, he could almost admit that this feeling has been here for a long, long time. That he loves you. That he loves you more than he has ever loved anyone in his life. That he can picture himself growing old with you. That this sight, you laying by his side with beads of perspiration still glistening on your brow, dishevelled and lovely after enjoying pleasure he gave you… yeah, that sight, he could picture himself staring at it every night for the next fifty years or so.
And he has thought about how your children would look like. How it would feel to see your hair become grey with old age. To run his calloused fingertips through the lines on your face. To hold you when you’ve become fragile with the passing of time. To hold your hand when it all ends.
Andrew chuckles at the thought. What a desperate romantic. What a fool. He doesn’t even know if that’s you want. Perhaps he’s just… momentary. A beautiful flicker in the dark, and then you’ll move to another, brighter star. You’re permanent, though. On him, on his heart, on his very soul, you’ll always remain there, altering his atoms, changing his very being…
“You’re alright?”
He nods, adds a hum for good measure, before turning as well in the bed, cheek now smudged against the pillow. He pesters at his hair when his movements pull on a strand, making you giggle. And then he’s facing you, getting lost in your eyes all over again. And it’s almost painful, the way he loves you. It’s like a burn searing through his soul. Something he craves for nonetheless, a moth heading towards a flame even though it knows it will hurt when it reaches for the heat.
And you shine so brightly tonight…
“You’re sure? You seem… a little out of it.”
He raises a playful eyebrow at that. Your voice sounds a little hoarse, one more proof that you’re ending the evening as satisfied as he does.
“You were not saying that five minutes ago…”
You roll your eyes at his teasing.
“No, you were very much focused five minutes ago. I’m talking about right now. You’re… staring at me funny.”
“Am I?”
You nod and hum, you’ve been doing that more since you’ve started dating. Perhaps he’s changed you a little too. Rearranged a part of your molecules the same way you had with him.
But then again, he never says it. Not out loud, at least. Oh, the I love you has been spoken time and time again, but… do you know how much he means it? What he actually means when he speaks these three words? That he would do anything for you? That he’s become yours with a devotion that was foreign to him before he met you? That you’ve rewritten every line of his verses to spell them all with your name, and that he adores it? You’re the only thing he can write about. The only thing he thinks about. The only thing he craves for.
God, he was never afraid to fall hard before you, despite the risks. Love was an act of adoration in his eyes, a touch of skin more sacred than any holy text ever written on paper. But you… you’re taking it all to another level. Do you know that?
He’s never been good at talking about his feelings, not in a clear, upfront way, at least. That’s why he needs music, because otherwise the words stay stuck in his throat. It’s so much easier to write down the way he feels, wrap some metaphors around his heart to reveal it, hide behind images and politics. Craft another voice to speak about his feelings. It’s easier than to look at you now, laying in bed with him, and open himself to you. He feels vulnerable, and he hates it. It is to an extent that terrifies him. Like an offering. Will you crush the heart he presents to you now, or cradle it against yours instead?
You deserve to know, though. He’s fucked up relationships before because he couldn’t talk clearly about his feelings. He can’t let that happen to you too. Especially when you have told him how you feel. You tell him all the time. You shower him in love and attention and care, just like right now: you’re rearranging the sheets on his shoulder to keep him warm, then tenderly caress his cheek, and the way you look at him… he can see it, that you love him. He’s not sure if you would be ready to picture a full life with him, the same he does with you., but he knows you love him.
He tries to show you, as he can’t really say it. It’s always been easier to show than tell for him. He offers cups of tea, he holds your hands, he worships you at night, he listens, he leaves tiny notes all around, he tries to make your life easier. Is it enough to tell you that you’re becoming his entire world? That losing you would mean losing himself too?
And perhaps it isn’t fully healthy, a love so supreme. Andrew doesn’t really care. Isn’t that why you say falling in love? Because it’s supposed to kill you when it ends?
“Andy?”
He’s zoned out again, he focuses on you once more.
“What’s wrong, baby?” you ask, voice quiet and soothing, the brush of your thumb in his beard lulling him to a peaceful state.
“Nothing. I’m just looking at you.”
You roll your eyes, shying away a little.
“Staring would be more appropriate, you freak,” you tease him, mischief held in your smile.
“Yeah, drooling even. But can you blame me?”
You laugh, bright and clear, the sun pale in comparison. A true ray of sunshine.
“Well… I do stare at your pretty face a lot, too. So, I guess it’s only fair,” you tease, and it’s his time to roll his eyes and blush.
“And I thought you were here only for my hair.”
“Definitely a solid argument in your favour,” you keep on teasing, both of you chuckling and moving closer without noticing.
When he reaches for your cheek though, he’s grown serious again. Andrew lets his palm rest on the side of your face, thumb stretching across your cheekbone while the rest of his fingers get lost in your hair. He feels you leaning into his touch, almost nuzzling in his hand. Like you crave for him as much as he craves for you.
“I love you, you know?”
His voice is a mere whisper when he lets out the confession. You nod, your expression serious as well now, though infinitely tender too.
“I know. I love you too.”
“No, I mean… I love you. Like… like a lot. Like… crazy.”
He lets out a quiet tkst in his frustration against himself, mumbles a God under his breath.
He can’t say it. It’s coming out all wrong. He thinks about words to say and others form on his tongue…
“I’m so bad at this, God’s sake…” he mumbles. “I’m sorry. I’m so bad at talking about these things.”
He heaves a sigh, almost hoping you’ll change the subject, say something, anything… but you remain quiet, expectant as you stare at him.
“Why do I reverse to a nervous teenager whenever I try to talk about my feelings, huh?” he tries to joke, turning to humour as he struggles. You grant him a chuckle, but don’t interrupt him.
He takes a few seconds before trying again.
“I just… I really love you. I know I’m not very good at… voicing that, like… but I do. I love you. And I… I love you enough to imagine everything with you in it. You see what I mean?”
You raise a surprised eyebrow.
“Why are you telling me that now?”
“Good orgasm brings wisdom?”
You finally laugh, and a little of the tension dissipates.
“Way to kill the romantic mood.”
“Forgive the dude in me.”
“Yeah, not sure I should. You were about to confess your undying love for me before that dirty joke.”
“It was pretty tame, come on. I’ve done worse.”
“Let’s go back to your confession of love.”
“Do we have to?”
You give him a peck on the lips as an encouragement, and he grunts, faking annoyance when he’s just scared, really.
“I just… I’m worried sometimes because… I’m not good at saying how I feel. And I… I don’t know, with you, it’s like… like this could be it, for me. And I don’t know if I’m always good at showing you that. But I’ve been thinking and… maybe you could move in with me.”
Your shy smile breaks into a grin.
“Yeah, I’d love that. I’m already stealing all your hot water and electricity anyway.”
“Exactly,” he laughs, but he’s still serious when he goes on. “I mean. I want this for the long run, you know what I mean? Like… I want you on the long run. I love you…”
His voice breaks and he curses at himself, looking away as he blinks tears out of his eyes.
“Speak of a lyricist,” he grumbles, making you chuckle while he escapes your touch, trying to gather his courage again by sitting up.
But you move to keep him close, wrapping your arms around him, and despite his tall frame, he seems almost small in your arms as he rests his forehead in the crook of your neck.
“I’m here for the long run too,” you reassure him. “I love you. More than I’ve ever loved anyone before. I want this to last. I think… I think you’re the one for me, Andy.”
“I feel that way too,” he whispers, kind of stealing your words to express his own feelings but you don’t mind. “I’m just… I just know that I struggle to talk about that stuff. I don’t want you to think I don’t love you the way I truly feel. Cause it’s… it’s overwhelming, really. The way I feel for you. And it makes it difficult for me to express it.”
You hum, but shake your head, too.
“I know you love me. You show me every day that you love me.”
He relaxes in your touch then, a wave of relief that escapes in a long exhale. And he relishes in the warmth of your skin against his, in the vulnerability that you offer each other now, holding tight your naked bodies, as an attempt to let the other feel your heartbeats.
And perhaps he’s just being silly. Perhaps you know already. Perhaps you do feel the same.
“So… if I’m moving in, I have one condition.”
“Whatever you want, love,” he whispers into your skin.
“So, you’re ready to give up on the red blanket? The super warm one your mother gave us for Christmas?”
He laughs, holding you tighter, but unwilling to move away from your neck.
“Hey! She gave that blanket to me, not to you! What are you talking about?”
“She said it would keep us warm.”
“She never said that.”
“I will call her and ask for her to defend me and my claim on the blanket.”
“Or we could share it.”
You chuckle, and your tone is more tender as you answer.
“Yeah… yeah, let’s share it.”

Andrew’s brain surgery to drain the excessive blood was a success! Andrew felt loopy from all the twilight anesthesia they injected into him so he was asleep during the surgery, but he’s no longer suffering from double-vision, maybe soon he can start remembering things again.
Andrew locked his wheelchair in place and refused to move from the hallway. He was dead set on waiting for (Y/N). Any nurse or doctor that tried to come near him to bring him back to his room (or get him out of the way) would be slapped away and assaulted with the most vile curse words that would make a nun have a heart attack. Whenever Andrew heard footsteps coming, he’d look over, eyes sparkling in excitement, before dropping once noticing it wasn’t in fact (Y/N).
Another set of footsteps could be heard walking down the hallway. Andrew looked over and resisted the urge to smile or seem excited that she came.
“Hi, Andrew! Sorry I’m late. I was watching the infants until the NNP came back.” (Y/N) explained.
God, he loved how she said his name. Did it have to do with how damn cute she was, or was her voice really just that enchanting?
“How do you feel? Tired? Dizzy? Loopy? Hungry? Thirsty?” she questioned, bombarding him with questions.
“Mm.” Andrew shrugged his shoulders, resisting the urge to wince, but failing.
“Oh, does your head hurt?" (Y/N) questioned. "Oh, well obviously it must! You had surgery!” she commented, realizing how stupid her question was.
“It just hurts a bit…” Andrew muttered.
“Let’s get you back to your room, then I’ll give you some painkillers.” She spoke.
Andrew unlocked his wheelchair and started rolling away without (Y/N)’s help, stopping in front of her with a pointed stare glare as if to say “are we leaving yet?”
“Oh! You got the hang of it. Good job, Andrew!” (Y/N) praised, causing him to advert his eyes and huff.
“It’s not a big deal… It's a pretty easy thing to learn.” Andrew explained, ignoring how his heartbeat increased.
“Aw, don’t be like that. You did it all on your own in only a few minutes, and you learned how to turn the wheel! That’s impressive!” (Y/N) smiled, only causing Andrew’s face to get more red.
        “Are you done?” Andrew huffed.
“Okay, okay. Let’s get going.” She chuckled. “Follow me.”
Andrew didn’t exactly trust her sense of direction, especially considering earlier’s wild goose chase, but Andrew didn’t mind getting lost with her—it meant he got to spend a little extra time with her.
“Before we go to your room, do you mind if I make a quick stop to a friend?” she questioned as they entered the elevator together.
A friend? Andrew thought, a sore and red hot bubble starting to simmer in his chest. Who the hell is it?
“Her name is Hailey. She has cancer so please be nice to her. She doesn’t have many visitors anymore so maybe you two could be friends!” (Y/N) cheered, excited at the possibility of the two of them getting along as she pressed the second floor button.
At least it’s a girl. Andrew thought, the bubble of jealousy losing its fire-like temperature, but still having a bit of flame to it.
They exited the elevator when the doors opened and strolled down the hallway, (Y/N) stopping at a door and knocking on it.
“Come in.” A girl, Hailey, spoke.
She opened the door, keeping it open for Andrew to wheel his way in before she shut the door behind them.
“Hey, Hails. I have a friend of mine I’d like you to meet. He might have a grumpy face, but he’s nice when you get to know him.” (Y/N) teased.
Andrew shot her an unimpressed glare as he looked at her, before redirecting his attention to Hailey.
“Hi…” he muttered, not quite interested in the conversation.
        “Hello…” she whispered shyly.
With how long it’s been since she’s socialized with anyone except the nurses, she’s most likely insecure of her appearance. This is a good opportunity for her to re-learn how to make friends and have confidence, and now Andrew has someone he can visit and talk to when I’m off of work. She thought to herself.
“Andrew, this is Hailey. Hailey, this is Andrew. I hope you both can be good friends.” (Y/N) introduced, a smile on her face.
Fat chance. Andrew thought, resisting the urge to roll his eyes.
They both stared at each other awkwardly before (Y/N) spoke up.
“So, Hailey. How is the book so far?” she questioned.
“I’m interested in it. I don’t understand why Nora wants to die though.” Hailey spoke.
“Oh, I see.” She nodded. “This is one of my favorite books to recommend. After reading it, it really makes you look at life in a different perspective. Nora wants to die because she lacks happiness, or fulfillment, in her life. She hasn’t found a motive in her life to carry on because she’s so caught up in her own burdens and feelings.”
“But why is she sad? She gets to go outside and live.” Hailey questioned, genuinely confused.
Nora has what Hailey doesn’t, and Nora’s taking it for granted. (Y/N) thought to herself, understanding what Hailey means.
“Do you want a simple definition or the long one? Like, science or no science.” (Y/N) questioned, taking a seat on Hailey's bedside Andrew silently huffing and glaring as she did so.
        “No science.” Hailey smiled.
Hailey prefers subjects that are sugarcoated, they’re much easier to understand. She is ten, so (Y/N) supposes that's understandable.
“Well, Nora is missing something in her life, but she doesn’t know what it is yet. Everyone is made differently. She is sad because she doesn't have anymore passions in her life because she never stuck to pursuing them, and she felt like she couldn’t confide in anyone.” (Y/N) explained. "Humans are social creatures, we need communication and care from others in order to functional normally. Nora doesn't have that, or at least, she has very little of it."
“So Nora wants to die because she doesn’t know what she’s missing and she's alone?” Hailey questioned.
“In a way, yeah.” (Y/N) nodded. “Because she’s so sad, she’s not even trying to live the life she was given. When people are as sad as Nora, they don’t eat or shower or take care of themselves because it all feels meaningless.”
Why does that sound familiar? Andrew thought to himself.
        “I understand now.” Hailey nodded.
“Andrew, do you like books?” (Y/N)questioned, the two girls directing their attention towards him.
“I’m not too sure. I don’t read much.” Andrew answered.
“Maybe you just haven't found a good book yet. What genre movies do you like?" (Y/N0 questioned.
Movies? He just watched whatever was on the TV when he was locked in that apartment, but he was so hungry that he didn't have the willpower to actually focus on what was on the screen half the time.
"I don't know... anything really..." Andrew mumbled.
"Let's find a book genre you like! We'll start with Hailey." (Y/N) smiled. "Hailey, do you have any suggestions for him to read?"
"Maybe... The Outsiders?" Hailey suggested at a moment of thought, a bit hesitant but starting to warm up just slightly with the new presence in the room.
But what about your special pick for me you said you'd give? Andrew complained inside his head.
"The S.E. Hinton one?" (Y/N) questioned.
        "Yes." Hailey smiled.
"Oh, that's a good one. My favorite character was Sodapop." (Y/N) commented.
"I liked Darry. He was smart and cool." Hailey chimed in.
"What about the book you wanted to show me earlier? The one specifically picked out for me for when I get out of surgery?" Andrew questioned, not exactly caring if it sounded rude to reject Hailey's suggestion.
"Oh! Yeah. The book is called Eye of the Minds by James Dasher. He made the Maze Runner series if you had seen the movies." (Y/N) explained. "It's a sci-fi. I figured we could give that a try and see if you enjoyed it."
"I remembered when you showed me that book! The main protagonist was funny." Hailey commented.
Andrew briefly wondered how long these two spent together everyday. The more he thought about it, the more he started to get jealous again. By now his headache was subsiding while his anger just grew.
I never thought I'd be jealous at a little kid... he thought to himself. ...Why even am I jealous?
"(Y/N)..." Andrew sighed, succeeding in gaining the nurse's attention. "My head still hurts and I'm tired." He spoke.
"Oh! I'm sorry, Andrew. I was excited to hear Hailey's input to the book. I didn't mean to neglect you." (Y/N) spoke, immediate guilt forming in her chest as a frown drew on her face.
I didn't mean to make her feel bad... Andrew thought to himself, resisting the urge to sigh.
"I'll see you later, hails. I'm going to take Andrew back to his room. I'll make sure to visit before leaving today." (Y/N) spoke, waving to Hailey as she opened the door for her and Andrew.
"Okay." Hailey nodded, returning the nurse's wave as she watched them leave and shut the door behind them.
"I didn't mean to ignore your pain, Andrew. I'm a bit of a scatterbrain, but that's no excuse." (Y/N) sighed, walking with Andrew to the elevators.
"It's okay. You didn't mean it..." Andrew murmured.
"I won't do it again." She promised, a smile on her face as she and Andrew made it to the elevators and got an open one, walking into it.
She pressed the fourth floor button and waited for the elevator to go. Even if she was growing to enjoy Andrew's company, she did feel a little uneasy being in the same elevator as him all alone.
"So, Andrew. Do you have any favorite shows?" she questioned, trying to make small talk.
"..Huh?" Andrew voiced, confused on where that came from.
"I'll be seeing you pretty often now. I want us to build a connection." She explained. "A good way to do that is finding out each other's likes and dislikes."
Andrew huffed, ignoring the warmth in his chest that her confession made him feel. They walked out of the elevator and down the hallway, stopping at the staff's room.
"I don't really like anything." Andrew admitted.
"I refuse to believe that. We'll find something!" she smiled, determined. "Wait here a second." She instructed, pulling her lanyard from out of her shirt and grabbing her keys, unlocking the staff door.
"Hi, Penelope." (Y/N) greeted once seeing the female present.
"Ah. Hello, (Y/N)!" Penelope cheered, her strawberry blonde hair swaying as she stood up from her seat. "How was patient 402? Did he-" she looked behind (Y/N) and made an "eek!" sound, backing up.
"Don't worry about him, just taking him back to his room. I had to grab painkillers first though." (Y/N) spoke, unlocking the medicine cabinet grabbing a pill bottle of ibuprofen and a bottle of water.
She grabbed a napkin and opened the pill bottle, putting two small tablets on the cloth. She walked over to Andrew with the napkin and water.
"Here, Andrew." She spoke, gently grabbing Andrew's hand and placing the pills in his palm.
He accepted it and put them in his mouth without any hesitation. (Y/N) opened the water and tilted his head up, bringing the water bottle to his mouth, just in case he couldn't hold it on his own because of the weakening limbs from the surgery's sedation. He took greedy sips before tapping her hand, allowing her to move the bottle and screw on the lid.
"There you go." She cooed. "Good job."
Why is she so much better at this job than me? She's a student! Why is my patient so trusting of her? Penelope thought. Aw, they look like such a couple! They're both so attractive too! This is too embarrassing!
Instead of doing what Penelope was thinking, she just spoke her mind.
"W-wow..." Penelope muttered, utterly confused, shocked, and a bit flustered.
"What?" (Y/N) questioned, turning to look at the young nurse.
"Ack! Nothing!" she exclaimed, her face red as she covered her eyes with her hands.
"Pen, are you feeling okay?" (Y/N) questioned, taking some steps towards Penelope. "Did you get enough sleep? Do you need food? Water?-"
"N-no thanks!" she shouted, her face growing even redder at the thought of (Y/N) tilting her head and nursing her with a water bottle instead.
Andrew understood immediately what was happening as he watched the two interact.
Damn that nurse... Andrew thought to himself, glaring daggers at Penelope from behind (Y/N)'s shoulder.
(Y/N) jumped, moving back a little, completely dazed and confused as she looked at the nurse.
THAT'S SO EMBARRASSING! Penelope screamed instead her head, resisting the urge to curl up in a ball and scream her heart out.
Penelope has a problem with loving people too much. It's one of the reasons she became a doctor, to find someone in need and nurse them with her medicine and love. Unfortunately, she's a very shy person and stresses too easily, so her bursts of lovesickness can sometimes be too much for her heart and mind (it's one of the reasons Ruby from day shift can't stand her).
"Okay...?" (Y/N) spoke, hesitantly. "If you need any help, call me. Okay?"
Penelope nodded quickly and spoke, quick to have the pair leave. "I understand! Bye now!"
Penelope shoved (Y/N) out of the room (Andrew just about ready to stand up and fight her, if it could walk, that is). Penelope locked the door behind them both as (Y/N) looked back, confused.
"Huh, that's a little more of a panic attack than usual..." (Y/N) muttered to herself. "Okay, Andrew! Let's get you to your room." She smiled, acting as if nothing happened.
(Y/N) walked down the hallway and grabbed a security guard that was stationed nearby, having them pick up Andrew and place him in his bed since she wasn't strong enough (she worked with picking up kids, not adults).
"Alright, Andrew. You're probably really tired after your surgery. I'll leave you be." (Y/N) explained, watching as the security guard left.
Just before she leaves, Andrew spoke up.
"Will you be back later?" Andrew questioned, hesitant as he hid his flustered face by turning his head to the side, away from her view.
"Of course! You can't get rid of me that easy, ya know?" she smiled.
"Great..." Andrew sighed, not-so-sarcastically as he wished.
"Oh, before I leave. Make sure you're behaving with the other nurses, they're only trying to help you." (Y/N) lightly scolded.
I don't want their help. I want yours... Andrew thought to himself, resisting the urge to grimace at her words.
“Ah, and before I forget too!” she gasped, reaching into her medical back and grabbing a book. “This is a sci-fi dystopian. You might like it! If not, no worries. We’ll find a genre for you.” She spoke, placing the book on his nightstand. “Don’t worry about reading it right now. Just sleep.”
Andrew looked at the book, then her, before nodding.
(Y/N) left the room and shut the door behind her, letting out a sigh.
What do I do now? she thought to herself. Today feels so slow... I guess I can go back to the clinic and see what Doctor Ryan's doing. Or maybe I should go check on Penelope? She was panicky today.
(Y/N) decided to check out Penelope and see what's up with her. (Y/N) is aware of Penelope's random bursts of lovesick confessions (Penelope has gotten into too much trouble with HR because of it, so everyone in the hospital knows about it), but (Y/N) had never really seen it take ahold of her that bad. Usually Penelope resorts to compliments (and light stalking), not full on shutting her brain down and panic.
Did she find a new crush? (Y/N) wondered.
Ever since (Y/N) became a student studying general pediatrics here at the hospital, she’s had her fair share of taking care of a patient every once in a blue moon for the psychiatric brand in case a nurse had a emergency and needed to leave. She met Penelope when Ruby had to leave because her daughter was in labor, and the usual nurse that took over Ruby's patients for the night shift had come up with the flu. (Y/N) had taken over Ruby’s patients that night and met Penelope, Penelope explaining what (Y/N) would have to do as a psychiatric nurse for the day.
That was four months ago. They can technically be considered friends but they have the habit of being a little distant, though it’s slowly fading away ever since they agreed on hanging out every Saturday. Their Saturdays consisted of shopping and running errands together since it’s a day they’re both off.
(Y/N) walked back down to the staff room and unlocked the door, finding Penelope on the table face-down.
“Are you okay?” (Y/N) questioned, standing a good distance from Penelope in case she needed some space.
“How do you do it?” Penelope questioned, lifting her face off the table.
        “Do what?” (Y/N) questioned.
“How can you be so calm with such cute guys?!” Penelope shouted, balling up her fists as her face went red.
Does Penelope have a crush on Andrew? (Y/N) thought to herself.
Her stomach twisted in either disgust or anger, probably both. She felt like throwing up as she thought about Penelope and Andrew together.
Andrew was supposed to be Penelope’s patient, but (Y/N) swept him away from her after caring for him one day. Penelope had worked day shift that day since she was taking over one of the day nurses shifts because they were taking the day off for her son's graduation, so Penelope switched shifts with them for the day and worked their day shift, resulting in working with Andrew. However, apparently Andrew didn't like her care enough, or perhaps (Y/N) just has a more calm aura around her compared to Penelope. How she won Andrew over, she’s not sure, but he chose her. He chose her, not Penelope.
“Ah, well… I guess I’m just really good at hiding what I feel?” (Y/N) smiled, feeling her polite smile twitch.
“I’m hopeless. How can I ever find someone to love if I just freak out like this...?” Penelope sighed.
“There, there, pen. I’m sure you’ll find someone one day.” (Y/N) comforted her, patting Penelope’s shoulder.
Yes, not today or tomorrow. Not Andrew. (Y/N) thought to herself.
“What will I do without you?!” Penelope cried, throwing herself on (Y/N) and hugging her tightly as she wept into her chest.
(Y/N) resisted the urge to push Penelope off her. This was seriously unprofessional and she's certain if one of her coworkers (or worse, her superior and trainer Doctor Ryan) walked in, they'd possibly be sent to HR for how this may look. As much as they’re decent-ish friends, she’s not on the hugging level yet, but she doesn’t want to push Penelope off in case Penelope starts crying about that instead.
“Aw, pen. You’re too pretty to be crying about boys! Your eyeshadow is getting ruined.” (Y/N) spoke, diverting the subject.
“Aw jeez! Look what I did! I’m such a klutz…” Penelope sniffled, grabbing her phone and opening the camera to selfie-mode. “Aw! It was my good eye too! That took forever to even out.”
“How about I help you fix it?” (Y/N) offered.
“You’re the best.” Penelope smiled, wiping the tears out of her eyes, only smudging her eyeshadow worse on both sides now.
“Don’t mention it. Do you have the makeup on you?” (Y/N) questioned.
“Yep.” Penelope spoke, cheering up as she grabbed her makeup purse from her staff locker.
She sat down on the staff room table and handed the bag to (Y/N), allowing the girl to look through her most prized possessions that kept her feeling cute and confident.
(Y/N) found an eyeshadow box and opened it, browsing the colors and looking for the right one Penelope had smudged all over her.
“Cute colors.” (Y/N) commented, adoring the light shades of pinks and nudes.
“Thank you.” Penelope blushed, watching as (Y/N) grabbed a small bag of makeup wipes and opening them.
(Y/N) grabbed a wipe and scooted closer to Penelope, grabbing her chin and angling it down so (Y/N) could see better. Penelope ignored the blush rising in her face and her heartbeat increasing, instead opting to close her eyes to ignore the closeness the two shared as (Y/N) wiped the makeup off Penelope’s face.
(Y/N) noticed the blush on Penelope’s face and decided it’d be best not to acknowledge it or tease her. The first time (Y/N) noticed Penelope’s blush when they first met, she made a joke about it that left Penelope speechless around her for a few days. (Y/N) would rather not experience that awkwardness again.
If anybody walked in right now, (Y/N) prays that it’s anybody but a manager or Andrew. With how close they are right now, anyone would get the wrong idea.
She wiped off the remaining makeup before grabbing a small brush and dabbed it in the light pink shade Penelope applied earlier, fixing her eye makeup. It took a few minutes before (Y/N) finished it.
“Ta-dah!” (Y/N) cheered, resisting the powerful urge to say “you were my star patient today, have a sticker.” (It’s grown in her vocabulary now).
“Thanks.” Penelope smiled, grabbing her phone and admiring herself in the camera.
“No problem. I’m going to get back to the pediatric branch. If there’s any problems make sure to come find me.” (Y/N) explained. “Oh, we're still meeting up tomorrow, right? Think about what doughnuts you want! See you later!” (Y/N) waved, quickly shutting the staff door without waiting for Penelope’s farewell.
Now that that’s all out of the way… I should get back to Doctor Ryan. (Y/N) thought to herself.
There was a lingering feeling dwelling inside of her. She still felt sick, like kneeling down and spilling her guts out on the floor. Her chest still bubbled with anger, feeling as though steam is escaping through her ears.
It’ll probably take all night for me to calm down. (Y/N) figured, letting out a sigh. What was I angry about again? she thought.
She walked away from the staff room and down the hallway, heading to the elevators. She boarded on and pressed the second floor button, leaning onto the handrail. The elevator’s movement only worsen the discomfort in her stomach.
(Y/N) exited the elevator when the doors opened, walking down the hallway to the staff room. She would’ve made it there if she didn’t hear obnoxiously loud whispering in the room next to her, sounding similar to a toddler bickering. She peeked in the room and saw two little boys huddled together in front of a hanging white sheet, speaking to what appears as themselves. She noticed the hospital wrist bands on their arms, confirming their admission here.
“What are you two doing?” (Y/N) questioned, crossing her arms.
They both jumped, letting out their own squeals as they turned around and looked at her.
        “N-nothing! Just… playing!” one smiled.
They both looked like twins, (Y/N) noted.
“You both should be in your rooms. What are your names?” she questioned.
“I’m Tom, that’s Jerry.” The other toddler introduced themselves as.
“Like the cartoon?” she questioned, a smile on her face.
        “Um… yes?” he spoke, hesitantly.
Wow. Am I that old? They obviously haven’t seen it… she thought to herself.
“Well, it sure matches you both, since you sneaked out of your rooms. Who are you talking to?” (Y/N) questioned, resisting the urge to peek behind the curtain.
Yeah. Like I’m that dumb… I’m not going to die like Psycho from a killer hiding behind a damn curtain. She thought to herself. And there’s no way I’m investigating either. I don’t mess with ghosts.
        “Come along, now.” (Y/N) spoke.
(Y/N) watched as they walked away, shooting each other glares. She looked at the curtain once last time before shutting the door and walking away. If she looked behind the curtain, she would’ve saw Ashley hiding from the security guard, a scalpel in her hand and ready to attack (Y/N) and the kids if the curtain was opened. Ashley was still mad at Andrew, and now she was mad at all the nurses in the hospital, but especially Andrew’s new nurse he grew to favor.
(Y/N) led the two kids to the staff room and unlocked the door, peeking in and looking for any nurse that recognizes these two. She saw one of the pediatric nurses, Wally, and smiled.
“Ah, Wally. Do you know these two?” (Y/N) questioned, bringing the two kids into the room.
“I thought I locked their doors. They kept trying to escape…” Wally sighed, standing up from his seat.
“I used a pen to escape.” Jerry smiled. “Then broke Tom out.”
“Well, thank you for telling me how you got out, because now there’s a no pen policy in your rooms.” Wally spoke, giving them a stern glare.
“Aw! You just had to run your mouth!” Tom huffed.
“You didn’t stop me!” Jerry poorly excused as Wally dragged them back to their hospital rooms.
“How was I supposed to know what you were gonna say?” Tom questioned.
I wonder what they’re in here for. (Y/N) thought to herself. They sure seem energetic for being sick or injured, but I supposed it could be something internal.
She decided to ignore it and refill her medical bag. She grabbed a new bottle of water and pretzels since she gave her old pair to Hailey earlier.
She walked out of the room and locked the door, heading back to the clinic. She found Doctor Ryan’s office and stood outside, waiting a few minutes in case there was a patient, that way in case a patient was getting a shot they wouldn't get startled and jump, accidentally breaking the needle or causing harm. She heard nothing from inside the door and assumed there was no patients, so she knocked gently.
        “Come in.” Doctor Ryan spoke.
“Hello, sir.” (Y/N) greeted, entering the room and shutting the door behind them. “Is there any new patients today?”
“Only walk-ins, remember?” Doctor Ryan reminded.
“Yeah, but I’m so bored…” she sighed.
“I’ve never met a student that’s actually excited to work.” Doctor Ryan admitted, chuckling.
“Not all that excited, but I woke up today to go to work, and I get paid to work, so I wanna work. Time is so slow when there’s nothing to do.” (Y/N) rambled.
“I agree. Hey, I heard you got Andrew admitted for surgery. Internal bleeding in the brain?” Doctor reminded.
(Y/N) felt a flash of worry and she grimaced.
“Was that… the wrong call?” she questioned, not even bothering to hide the discomfort and worry on her face.
“It was the right call. Good job. I just wanted to see you squirm.” The doctor laughed.
“Sheesh, you worried me! I thought I got fired before evening getting the real job.” (Y/N) sighed.
“Sorry, sorry. How is he doing? Social-wise? Is he still stingy towards the other nurses?” he questioned.
“I introduced him to Hailey today. They both were quiet, but they interacted for a bit, which is good considering Hailey hasn’t seen a new visitor in a while.” She explained. "He saw Penelope too and didn't throw anything at her. So that's... good?"
“How’s Hailey’s condition?” Doctor Ryan asked.
“She’s only getting worse. I really don’t think she’ll live for long.” (Y/N) sighed, a frown forming on her face.
“That’s unfortunate. Sadly, it’s part of our job to see them go sometimes.” Doctor Ryan spoke, patting her shoulder. “But hey, we’re here to help prevent that.”
“That does remind me, when is Hailey’s next chemotherapy session?” she questioned.
“It’ll be Sunday, but you and me won’t be here. With our day off and all.” Doctor Ryan explained. “Any plans?”
“I’m hanging out with Penelope from the psychiatric branch tomorrow. Sunday I’ll catch up on sleep.” (Y/N) informed.
She noticed his smug expression and glared at him, but that didn’t stop him from making his joke.
        “Well, I bet Andr-“
        “Don’t finish it.” (Y/N) warned.
        “Okay. Okay.” He chuckled.
“What do you plan on doing?” she questioned, redirecting the conversation.
“Hanging out with my wife and kids. Probably get no sleep.” He shrugged.
“Poor you, family man.” (Y/N) teased.
“You don’t understand what it’s like trying to sleep in a house with two toddlers during the day. It’s not very easy.” He explained.
“How’s the wife and kids anyway?” (Y/N) questioned.
“Jax just celebrated his third birthday. Piper’s learning to read. And Jane wants me to work day shift.” Doctor Ryan sighed.
“Well, why don’t you?” (Y/N) questioned. “You sleep in the day and can’t spend time with your family at night since they're sleeping. I think it’d be best.”
“Exactly. Everyone does that. We don’t have enough nurses for night shift, especially skilled ones.” Doctor Ryan huffed, then remembered that (Y/N) technically qualifies as unskilled, at the moment at least. “Which is why I teach you! So I can skedaddle!”
“I’ll be the best pediatrician here.” (Y/N) smiled, then noticed the stare Doctor Ryan gave her. “Night shift wise, I will be. You’ll be on the day shift.”
Doctor Ryan’s walkie-talkie went off, catching both of their attention.
“Doctor Ryan, a nurse is bringing a patient to you. Possible UTI.” The walkie-talkie spoke.
        “Aw, poor kid.” (Y/N) spoke.
“Yeah, poor kid alright.” Doctor Ryan grimaced, just imagining the pain and discomfort.
“Well, let’s get it checked out then prescribe antibiotics if they’re right.” She sighed, stretching her arms out and cracking her knuckles.         .         .         Thirty minutes before (Y/N)’s shift and she felt exhausted. The work day went by pretty fast and now she was walking down the hallway to see Hailey.
She slowly opened the door, not wanting to knock and accidentally wake up Hailey, but she wanted to make sure Hailey was still breathing.
She expected to see a sleeping girl but instead she saw that she was wide awake, using her nightstands lamp as a light so she could read.
“Hailey!” (Y/N) lightly hissed through her teeth, quiet so she doesn’t accidentally wake up any nearby patients sleeping in their rooms.
“Hello, Ms. Gwin.” Hailey smiled, unphased that she got caught.
“It’s 5:30 in the morning and you’re still up. You should’ve been long in bed sleeping.” She scolded, walking up to Hailey and sitting down on her guest chair. “But, since you’re up. How’s the book?”
“I think it’s really interesting, the way her decisions could have such consequences. I never thought decisions would mean so much.” Hailey explained.
“Of course. You know, I had to decide if I wanted to be a nurse or a writer.” (Y/N) admitted.
“Well, you’re a nurse now.” Hailey smiled, before it dropped. “Do… you think if you weren’t a nurse, would we have never met?”
“Probably not.” (Y/N) admitted, not bothering to sugarcoat it to her. "But that's just a consequence from my decision. Not all consequences mean bad things. I don't regret not being a writer either. I'm here with you, aren't I?" she smiled, patting Hailey's hand reassuringly.
"Uh, that boy from earlier..." Hailey started.
(Y/N)'s smile disappeared as she felt a bolt of lightning strike her. She felt sick again, and her chest started to pop and boil, and her hands started to tremble. She dug her nails into her palms once more and tilted her head, leaning in close to listen to the girl.
"He was scary..." Hailey muttered, causing (Y/N) to let out a forced giggle.
"Ah, yes. I supposed Andrew was. But he's real sweet when he opens up." (Y/N) smiled, giving her a small white lie since she really didn't know herself if Andrew was sweet, but she at least wanted to ease the girl's nerves.
"I think he likes you." Hailey teased, letting out a girlish giggle.
"Everyone apparently thinks that." (Y/N) laughed, recalling Doctor Ryan's words.
"Well, do you like him back?" Hailey questioned.
"Oh, hails. I just met him yesterday!" (Y/N) pointed out, shaking her head as she smiled.
"It's true love at first sight!" Hailey declared.
"Where'd you learn that saying?" (Y/N) questioned.
"I'm serious! I think you two would be really cute, you're like polar opposites!" Hailey claimed, ignoring (Y/N)'s previous question.
Really, personality-wise, I don't think we're too different. Hailey doesn't understand my outside-work persona. (Y/N) thought to herself as she just smiled and went along with what Hailey said.
        "You should confess!" Hailey encouraged.
"What's with you and this?" (Y/N) questioned.
"I know I won't live long enough to experience love like in the books... so I figured the second best thing would be having you live it." Hailey smiled, her smile fake and twitching.
"Oh, hails..." (Y/N) sighed, getting up from her chair and walking to Hailey's bedside.
Hailey scooted over so that (Y/N) could sit on the bed with her. Hailey immediately wrapped her arms around (Y/N)'s torso and dug her face into (Y/N)'s chest, her shoulders heaving up and down, giving away that she was crying. (Y/N) sighed and wrapped one of her arms around Hailey, the other she used to gently caress Hailey's bald scalp, a permanent reminder of her condition.
(Y/N) wanted to tell her that Hailey would be alright, that she would make it through, but she knew she couldn't promise that, especially to a little kid. She wasn't going to accidentally give the girl false hope and have her miserable on her potential death bed.
"You're such a sweet girl, any boy would fall for you instantly. Your cute little button nose and brown eyes would have any boy smitten. Your laugh and sweet personality would have any boy confess their love for you. If you made some friends with the boys here in this branch, you'll have so many guys surrounding you, you wouldn't know what to do!" (Y/N) reassured, poking Hailey's nose and causing her to giggle.
"Do you think they'd still like me even without hair?" Hailey questioned.
"Course they would. If a boy only likes you for your looks, punch him for me." (Y/N) joked, smiling.
        "I will." Hailey giggled.
"Hey, I'll tell you what. When I come back on Monday, I'll take you out to the garden. The flowers are in bloom this year!" (Y/N) spoke.
        "Promise?" Hailey gasped.
"I swear on my life." (Y/N) smiled. "Now, I'm going to go pay Andrew a little visit. You better sleep when I leave this room, understand?” (Y/N) questioned.
        “Yes.” Hailey nodded.
“Thank you. And good job today, Hailey. I’m so proud of you for talking with Andrew and staying strong as always. What color star would you like today?” (Y/N) asked, reaching into her medical bag.
        “Purple.” Hailey smiled.
“You got it.” (Y/N) smiled, placing the sticker down onto Hailey’s nightstand. “Goodnight, hails. I’ll see you Monday.”
“Goodnight.” Hailey smiled, getting comfortable in her bed.
(Y/N) walked out of the room and closed the door, making her way to the elevators. She got on and pressed the fourth floor button, waiting for the elevator to stop moving. The doors opened and she walked out and to Andrew’s room. She made it in front of the door then knocked.
        There was no answer.
Ah, Andrew must’ve went to bed like I asked. It’s good that he actually listens to me. (Y/N) thought, a smile appearing on her face at the thought of having possibly tamed the cannibalistic murderer (however she did, she does not know).
(Y/N) opened the door quietly, just to check. It’s also a possibility that he could’ve died in his sleep due to the anesthesia or a error in the surgery. It could also be a possibility that he jumped out of the window since he’s on suicide-watch (not like any other nurse had the nerves to come in and actually leave with no bruises).
She opened the door and noted that he was still in bed, sleeping peacefully. His heart monitor was still on and showed his vitals, all sounding normal and looked it too. Her heart sped up a bit as she watched him sleep peacefully.
He looks so peaceful. (Y/N) noted, admiring his vulnerable and slumbering figure.
He was handsome when he wasn't frowning. Well, even when he did have a scowl on his face, he was certainly able to make such an ugly face a pretty one. His pale skin in comparison to his dark hair was breathtaking, and his green eyes were simply divine, like Granny Smith apples; sour and tart, but a hint of sweet when you bite down just right.
She eventually snapped out of her trance after remembering that she was still in the hallway and what she was doing was no doubt creepy, and shut the door. It probably would’ve been a good idea to have told him that she would be gone for a few days, but she’s sure he’ll manage decently.
She walked away and to the branch’s staff room, unlocking the door. Lucky, there was no one in for her to have to converse with—nobody except Penelope. Penelope patients were always the most tamest and laidback since HR knew her.. questionable... personality.
“Hey!” Penelope smiled, just finishing clocking out.
“Hello!” (Y/N) greeted back, walking towards her and grabbing the clipboard and pen from her hands as Penelope handed it to her.
“How was patient 402 today?” Penelope questioned.
“Ah, he had surgery so I didn’t see much of him. He saw Hailey for a few minutes before he went to his room and slept.” (Y/N) explained.
“Oh, that’s wonderful! I’m so glad he’s doing okay and I’m glad he’s getting along with Hailey.” Penelope squealed.
“Mmhm.” (Y/N) hummed, finishing her clock-out.
She used the computer and typed up today's report for all her patients. When she got to Andrew's she typed: get casting on leg done immediately while he’s still asleep so he or his sister doesn’t get hostile.
Penelope read the screen from over (Y/N)’s shoulder, then spoke.
“Oh. His sister? I haven’t seen her since yesterday!” Penelope explained.
“Huh. Well, maybe she had something to do today?” (Y/N) reasoned.
“Maybe! But I heard from Ruby that she was kicked out of the hospital after she got aggressive with Andrew. She probably got banned from returning.” Penelope explained.
(Y/N) physically grimaced, a scowl forming on her face at Penelope saying Andrew’s name. She really didn’t like it when Penelope said his name and she’s not sure why.
“Is there something wrong? Did you forget to do something?” Penelope questioned.
“Oh, no. I just made the face because I can’t believe his sister could be so mean to him while he’s injured.” (Y/N) smiled forcefully.
“Right? Poor Andrew… I really hope he doesn’t have to see her anytime soon! It makes me wonder how she usually treats him uninjured.” Penelope frowned, pitying the poor patient who wasn’t in the room.
(Y/N) grimaced again, hating her saying “Andrew” just as much as she hated it the first time, if not, even stronger.
“I agree.” She spoke through her smiling teeth, another forceful grin. "Welp!" she smiled, clapping her hands together. "See you tomorrow, Penelope!" she spoke, quick to clock out and leave.
(Y/N) quickly walked down the hall to the elevators, hopping in and pressing the lobby button. She took a moment to compose herself, leaning against the railing.
I feel so weird today. My chest feels like it's being squeezed and I feel almost angry... She thought, confused of her emotions.
Maybe she didn't eat a big enough lunch. When she gets home, she'll eat dinner and drink lots of water before heading to bed. Yeah, she could use the meal and the sleep. It can be really difficult being the caretaker when you have no one to care for you, but in her own words, "in order to care for another, you must first learn to care for yourself."
She got in her car and drove back to her apartment, shutting the door and locking it before she collapsed on her living room's couch. She laid on her back for a few minutes, staring at the ceiling blankly, no thoughts crossing her mind.
She needed the few minutes to gain some energy. It’s always so exhausting smiling and being positive, especially in such a depressing and brooding setting such as a hospital where many meet their end, even worse that its children.
She doesn’t regret her decision in going through with becoming a pediatrician, but it does get heartbreaking seeing young kids die. She tries her best to help them, but sometimes there’s just some things out of your control.
She knows that when Hailey dies, she’ll be absolutely devastated. Out of all the patients she sees and talks to, she always makes sure to give Hailey the most of her attention and time.
Hailey was first admitted into the hospital when she was seven. After weeks of in and out tests at the hospital, MRI’s and blood withdraws, she was diagnosed with cancer. From then on, she spent her days at the hospital. Hailey’s parents were always busy, one was a lawyer and the other was a traveling diplomat. The nurses were basically babysitters for her while her parents were working.
Her parents loved her, they loved her so much that they couldn’t bare to see her slowly deteriorate in front of their eyes, so they forced themselves away from her side and indulged in work to rid the thought of their only daughter dying. They didn’t realize how lonely or terrifying it was for Hailey, to suddenly be surrounded by white walls and white floors and white sheets. Surrounded by the stench of heavy bleach and aroma of lemons. By radiation machines and clumps of lost hair on her pillows.
She watched out of her window as other patients walk in and out of the hospital, their families walking by their side, supporting them during their times of need. Her visitors weren't family, but nurses and doctors entering and exiting her room, no longer bothering to smile or give her white lies of how she'll heal soon.
(Y/N) couldn't try to understand or emphasize, she wasn't sick in a hospital bed balding. She wasn't bedridden, and she had the fortunate ability to move her legs unlike Hailey's legs, the clumping of leukemia cells in Hailey's knees making it hard to walk on some days. (Y/N)'s been Hailey's nurse for five months now, she had started nursing Hailey before she decided to change her career.
(Y/N) was originally going to be a pediatric nurse, make sure children are sticking to their proper recovery path and taking medications that they're doctors are prescribing them, provide utmost comfortability and nurturing to them as they could, and constantly run tests on their weights, diets, and symptoms, but she changed her studies to become a pediatric hematologist-oncologist after meeting Hailey.
(Y/N) graduated high school a year early by taking Advanced Placement (college-level) courses and getting a head start by going to classes during school breaks and on the weekends. It was exhausting and downright infuriating at times, but she managed and graduated with her high school diploma along with a certificate in child care after completing a three-year course in high school for early childhood education; allowing her to get a part-time job after high school by working in a daycare. Then she moved out from her parents, heading to college and completing one year of adolescent medicine (originally, it was supposed to be four, but her AP classes counted for college-credit and high school credits). She finished college five months ago, and now she's learning from Doctor Ryan JTED general pediatrics while taking online hematology-oncology classes to graduate med school early.
She had always been an over-achiever, aiming for success to please her parents and earn what little praise she could. It had been a goal ever since she was a child, to hear such little words from them with actual meaning, not just false words spoken on auto-pilot to shoo their child away.
Her father wanted her to be successful and rich in life, so she wouldn't have to deal with poverty in her future anymore, and her mother... well, her mother really didn't care what she did. In fact, her mother never cared at all. Her parents were always working all the time. Her father worked as an overworked and underpaid mechanic who worked 6-8, never having any time for his daughter as he worked in the day and slept at night. Her mother was also a nurse, specializing in cardiology; she slept in the day and worked at night. Even on her days off, she slept and ignored (Y/N)'s needs.
From two years old to five, (Y/N) was locked alone in a room with a bed, TV, and a bathroom. She was locked in a dark room for 16 hours a day, with no food and the only water source was from the sink's faucet. All she did in that room was sleep, watch cartoons on the TV, and cry; begging to be let out of the room, begging for food, begging for any sort of affection or tenderness from her mother who slept in the room next door so that (Y/N) wouldn't interrupt her sleeping. Instead, the only affection she received in her life was the embrace of her bed's sheets.
All her time in her hands caused her to sleep so much she developed a sleeping disorder, hypersomnia; the inability to remain alert, woke, or refreshed in the daytime despite having an excessive amount of rest. That condition became chronic, even now she struggled with it, which made her excessive daytime sleepiness so much worse due to working eight hours at the hospital for her JTED classes of general pediatrics (at least she got paid for her apprenticeship, working from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M.), and studying online for hematology-oncology for at least 3 to 4 hours after work. She's eternally grateful for her med school being paid, earning a scholarship due to all her high grades in her AP classes and completing college with her adolescent medicine degree. Medicine was a part of her mother's side of the family, and (Y/N) naturally became a caretaker after learning to care for herself her whole life; touch starved from the hands of her mother and father.
If (Y/N) had been the patient in the hospital bed, would her mother have cared then? Would she have shown a bit of sympathy? Even just touch her arm for a few seconds to feel for a vein and inject a IV needle in? The answer was no. Her mother didn't care when (Y/N) had been rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, fainting after days of neglecting her needs of food and water in order to complete her piling school work. Her mother didn't care when (Y/N) pleaded for help at ten years old, saying she believed she had depression and needed help.
Instead of helping her, her mother shook it off as hormones from puberty, and even told her to stop overreacting that: "You can't be depressed. People have such worse lives than you, dying alone in hospital beds, and here you are, crying about a few hormonal mood swings."
Her mother didn't even care when (Y/N) had tried to kill herself when she was just eleven years old. For a nurse, whose job is supposed to protect and care, she was cruel.
Her father cared, he really did, but he just didn't have the time for her. While her mother slept and ignored her, he was at work busting his ass off to earn money and support their family. He had grown up poor, living in immense poverty, sharing a bedroom with his sister, unsure of when their next meal was. He never graduated high school, he went to the military but after a few years was rejected due to heart conditions, which led him to coming home and getting his GED so that he could go to college and become a mechanic. Money was always a problem for her family, even in a two-income household it was hard to meet living standards. A big reason she piled all that work on her and neglected her health was so she could get her schooling paid for.
Remember her saying from earlier? "In order to care for another, you must first learn to care for yourself." Well, she had to teach herself that the hard way. She realized she couldn't be a nurse and preach others to care for themselves if she couldn't even care for herself. So, she took on hobbies to help her mental health, forced herself to make friends and gain confidence, made an oath to stop her self-harm when she was young. This was a challenge, but it presented opportunity for growth, for success, for happiness.
Opportunity is everywhere, so long as you choose to believe it. You don't need to see things to know it's there, so long as you have faith. Opportunity is everywhere, lurking and waiting to jump out from the corner and get you! Even the corner of your bedroom, while you lay thinking of nothing and everything depressingly on your couch. Opportunity is stalking, waiting patiently for you to walk through your bedroom door so they could give you a big hug! Or a stab! Or multiple stabs!
Opportunity comes in many forms. Education, money, experience, decisions, and even people; such as Ashley Graves! Opportunities to pursue your goal of nursing, or if we use Ashley's motivation, a wonderful opportunity to stab a little nurse out of jealousy all because she just happened to get too close to her brother after he made a minor slip-up. A Grave consequence, really.
Tumblr media
A cliff-hanger! This is where the next chapter will take some time to come out since all the previous chapters were drafts I wrote for fun before I started writing for Tumblr.
Also, Penelope is one of my first yanderes I created myself, an OC! While she won't play a major role in this series, she'll have her own headcannons and such one day once I get around to it, maybe you'll find an interest in her yourself!

Moving on in time
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Hozier x gn! Reader, angst, post-break up, youre in his band, touring with Hozier, public embarassment, emotions on high, mutual frustration, miscommunication, tension you could cut with a knife
Summary: Its been months since the break up, you had been with andrew for years, but with the touring and your busy schedules, you decided it was best for the two of you to go your seperate ways. At the time, you hadn’t thought about the fact that when he decided it was time to record and release a new album, you would be back on tour with him, helping him perform music that he had written about your break up.
You had been avoiding andrew like the plague offstage for months. You were well into the unreal unearth tour, and though you enjoyed his music, and you loved playing with him and the band, you really hadn’t realized how emotionally taxing this would be.
Playing bass in the band meant you stood up toward the front of the stage next to him. And you had made a point to pretend that everything was fine and cool while you were performing, but truth be told, there was no possible way that the two of you could ever have anything even resembling a friendship ever again.
It broke your heart all over again if you were being honest. You hated not speaking to him, but you hated having to act like you were still best friends even more.
Tonights show was particularly hard on you. You were all sleep deprived, and Andrew had gotten particularly frustrated during sound check, so even though the show had been running smoothly, tensions were on high and you were doing everything in your power not to show it.
You were doing your best to calm down, but listening to music he had written about how angry he was with you and how your whole relationship was nothing but toxic (First Time was by far your least favorite, it painted a completely inaccurate portrayal of how you treated him.) it wasn’t exactly what you’d call an easy feat.
The biggest problem came during Francesca. He always glanced over to you periodically, it was something that he did to everyone, to make sure everyone was doing okay, but for whatever reason, during francesca, he took it upon himself to all but stare you down for the majority of the song.
It was subtle at first, barely noticeable, just sideways glances, but by the time the second chorus came around, he was turned in your direction staring at you as he sang.
Jesus fucking christ.
This man really had the audacity to spend hours shit talking on you and then sing the only kind words he had to say directly to you.
Whatever happened to keeping his private life a secret? Whatever happened to “there’s no muse”?
He was staring a hole into you, all but calling you out publicly in front of an audience of god knows how many people. You had known he wasn’t perfect, everyone was capable of mistakes, but this isn’t something you’d ever expect from him.
This was cruel.
And the worst part about it? He actually looked genuine. He was looking at you, pleading, all but begging silently. Of course, you knew it was all an act, likely something he had planned to grab the attention of his fans and get people talking, but it still hurt.
You knew that you were still in love with him, and realistically, you had thought until the album release, that he had felt the same, and as much as you hated the idea, you had thought that reconciliation might be possible.
Seeing him look at you like that, like he was still in love with you, like he actually meant a word of what he was saying made you want to cry. You were stunned.
You honestly half decided then and there that you would quit at the earliest opportunity. You loved touring with him and you loved music being your full time job, but this was too much. He couldn’t do this to you.
You held eye contact with him, willing yourself not to be the first to look away, refusing to let him win.
You did your best to stabilize the lump in your throat as you stepped toward the mic, still looking at him as you sang his lyrics with him.
“Heaven is not fit to house a love like you and I.”
It was a phrase he used to say to you, something he had told you toward the beginning of your relationship, when you were still in the process of healing from the religious bull shit your parents had instilled into you, and you went through a short lived patch of worrying that if there was a hell, you’d be going there because you had slept with Andrew so soon.
He had comforted you by telling you that if there were a heaven, the walls weren’t strong enough to hold two people who were so in love with one another and that you’d both be sent to hell for loving more absolutely and unconditionally than god himself.
It was a sweet sentiment, and something he knew only you would get, nevertheless fan went crazy over the lyrics that were meant to comfort you but that he had twisted into something that only brought you pain now.
You knew what he was doing when he wrote it and that was what felt the worst. He had turned what you had once considered your greatest comfort and the most heart wrenchingly beautiful thing anyone had ever said to you into your single least favorite sentence in the entire english language.
As the song came to a close, you maintained eye contact with him for a concerning amount of time, as the crowd erupted into applause.
Finally, he turned away from you, looking back to the audience and thanking them for coming before ushering the band forward for a bow.
You walked forward, took Andrews hand briefly and bowed, staying there just long enough for the lights to come down and then you all but ran backstage.
The tears were flowing freely by that point, not wanting anyone to see you, you rushed to the nearest bathroom, locked the door and cried.
You knew he wasn’t fond of you anymore, but this was a new kind of distaste. Cruelty like that bordered on hatred, a sentiment which, until now you didn’t think he was even capable of. If you had known that this was what would come of the decision to break up, you wouldn’t have done it. Hell, if you had known, you would’ve opted to just stay friends.
You debated how you would go about quitting. After that stunt, you knew that this was no longer good for you, regardless of how much you loved touring and regardless of how much you loved him. You needed to leave and to never speak to him again. Distance was the only way you’d ever get over him.
Once you had calmed yourself down, you opened the door, and headed down the hallway to Andrew’s dressing room and knocked on the door. After a few deep breaths, you were ready to face him.
The door opened just a crack, before opening fully. “Ehm… Hey?” He looked genuinely confused. Sounded it too, though his whole body did visibly relax when he saw it was you.
“Hey.” You took one more deep breath before continuing. “I just wanted to let you know, I think it’s time to find a new bassist. I will not be touring you any longer after the break in December.” Your voice broke a little bit toward the end. You were angry with yourself for showing how upset you were. You didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of knowing that he had gotten a reaction out of you.
His face fell. “What? Why? If it’s about us not talking, I swear I’m not ignoring you, I just-” you cut him off mid-sentence.
“No. Andrew it’s about everything.” You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose in frustration. “I can handle standing next to you while you play music about how much you hate me for breaking up with you. Thats fair. It’s deserved even. But what I can’t stand is that. What you just did on that stage was nothing short of cruel.”
He let out a sigh, looking down at his feet. “I didn’t-” he cut himself off, running his hands over his face. “I didn’t meanwhile it like that I just-“
“Then how did you mean it Andrew? Because what it looked like to me was you talking shit to thousands of people and then acting like you still want me because you knew it was going to hurt.” I was all but yelling at him by now. I was positive that a few stage hands were overhearing this, but I didn’t even care. For all I cared, the whole world could know about how awful he was being.
“Can you please just come in? Can we talk about it? Please?” He looked completely genuine. I couldn’t tell if he was just stressed about losing an original member of the band, or if he actually cared that he had hurt me, either way, he wasn’t going to change my mind.
“Fine. 10 minutes, but don’t expect to change anything. Im quitting. You’re not changing that.” I said sternly, moving past him to sit on the small couch in the corner of the room. With a sigh, he closed the door, and let out a sigh.
“You wanted to talk. So talk.” I cross my legs on the couch, looking down at my hands, refusing to look at him.
“Look, I’ve been wanting to explain the album to you for a while.” He walked across the small room, placing himself on the opposite side of the couch from you. “When we broke up, I was hurt and I was angry, and I channeled that into my writing.
That doesn’t excuse any of it, and you’re well within your rights to be upset with me, thats more than fair.” He let out a sigh, looking at his hands, you could tell he was shaking. You wondered if this was as stressful for him as it was for you. If he was upset, you knew it wasn’t for the right reasons of course.
“I just don’t want you to think that I don’t still care about you. I was devastated, hell, I still am but I don’t want you thinking I hate you or something. I wasn’t doing anything to hurt you, I use my writing as an outlet and I needed a way to turn this into something I was proud of.”
I looked up to meet his eyes. They held nothing but truth. It was one of the great things about knowing him so well, I could read him like a book. If he was lying to save his own ass, I’d know.
“And I already said that I understand that.” You took a few breaths, trying to calm yourself and failing miserably. Your tears broke free and you sniffled as you wiped your face. “What I don’t understand is why you took something you used to say to me for my comfort, threw it into a song about me and then stared me down onstage while you sang those words and looked at me like you’re still in love with me, knowing damn well that I’m not over you.” The words left my mouth before I could even process what was happening.
My hand shot up to my mouth. Way to go. Just show the man all your cards. Throw away any advantage you had in the conversation. Great job.
His eyes lit up a bit. For the first time in months, it looked like he had hope. It pulled at your heart a bit, seeing him react that way even though you knew it wasn’t out of any remaining love he held for you. He was just glad you didn’t hate him probably.
“Okay, A.) I didn’t know that, and had I known, we would’ve had this conversation way earlier and B.) I wrote Francesca as a last ditch effort to get you back. I put that in there because it’s the truth.” He sighed again, this time a bit more hopeful, but still frustrated and sad. “I wasn’t planning on singing it to you. It just kind of happened. I didn’t think, I am sorry for that. And Im even more sorry for not explaining myself earlier.” His hand moves to his hair, running his fingers through his curls. It was something he did when he was thinking really hard about something.
“I get that.” You sighed in response. “I still think it’s best that I leave though. As far as I can tell, it’s better for both of us if we just cut contact.” You were still crying, bordering on sobbing. You pull your knees into your chest and curl your arms around yourself. It was a hard enough decision to make, but putting the thought into action was so much harder.
“Please don’t say that.” He sat up, moving slightly closer to you, he was pleading with his eyes, he looked desperate. You could even see the beginnings of a few tears filling his eyes. “Look, I know I’ve said a lot of shit that really hurt you, I can’t take that back, but please at least give me the chance to try and fix it.” The first of his tears spilled over and his voice cracked.
“Andrew, before all of this, I would have said yes, hell I would have even said we could try being together again, but at this point, I don’t know if I’ll ever go a day without questioning if you actually care about me. Thats not something that can be fixed.” I pull away from him, turning and putting my feet on the ground.
“Baby, please just let me try. And if you still want to leave by December, then I won’t stop you, but I’ve been dying seeing you every day and not talking to you.” He moves next to me and takes one of my hands in both of his. “Please. Just can we try?”
You sigh, looking down at your hand in his. He was so warm, his touch just as inviting as you remembered, he was close enough that you could smell him, he still wore the same cologne you had picked out for him years ago. It was woodsy and sort of musky, and the way it mixed with his natural scent drove you absolutely nuts.
With another sigh, you lean your head onto his shoulder. “I kinda hate you a little bit.” You huff, frustrated. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t wan’t to work things out between the two of you. You wanted nothing more than to take everything back and go back to being together.
He chuckled a little bit, leaning his head to rest against the top of yours. “Thats okay.” You can feel him smile against your hair, placing a kiss on the top of your forehead. “I promise I’ll make it up to you.”
You move yourself closer to him, pulling your legs into his lap. “I really do miss you.” Your voice is muffled by his chest. “As stupid as it sounds I’ve thought about just coming back probably a million times.”
His hand is in your hair, moving across your scalp, soothingly. It was nice. “It’s not stupid. I’ve come so close to cornering and begging you to take me back on a handful of occasions.”
You laugh a little bit. “Just don’t write any more mean songs about me okay?” You look up at him, meeting his eyes for the first time since the start of this conversation.
He leans down and places his lips against yours for a fleeting second. “I promise, love.”
I tell you what, when an Idea strikes, I be writing so fast, I did that in like 3 hours.

The Raven King - Chapter Eight
Day: Friday, October 13th Time: 9:23 PM EST
The game ended at thirteen-six: the most goals anyone had ever taken from Andrew and the worst point gap the Foxes had seen in three years. The stands' disappointed reaction was expected and understandable, but Neil barely heard it through the buzzing in his ears. Neil's heart was pounding so violently he was sure it was beating bruises into his lungs. Every breath he managed to suck in knifed his throat open. The only strength he had left he put into holding onto his racquet. Neil wanted to cross the court to his teammates, but he didn't trust himself to move. He and Kevin had just run two full halves against the Raven defense. He thought it a miracle he was still standing. He felt his legs only in flashes. One second they were on fire; the next they were gone entirely. Neil looked down at his feet to make sure they were still there and blinked shadows out of his eyes. The roar outside the court escalated to feverish screams high pitched enough to break through Neil's exhaustion. He looked up, wondering what he'd missed, and stared across the court. Andrew's hands hovered empty in front of him, and his racquet was on the ground at his feet. As Neil watched Andrew leaned over to pick his racquet up. He tried, anyway. He only got it a foot off the floor before he lost his grip again. It reminded Neil of their first practice together, when Neil almost blew his arms out playing against Andrew. He looked up at the scoreboard. The Ravens had taken an incredible hundred and fifty shots on goal; it was unbelievable Andrew had only missed thirteen of them. He looked back as Andrew tried again to get his racquet. Andrew didn't fare any better this time, so he gave up and sat down heavily beside it. The court doors opened and the subs flooded on. Abby and Wymack stepped into the doorway to watch their team. The subs were heading for the goal, as had become tradition since Andrew started playing full halves, so Neil took a couple unsteady steps in that direction. He didn't get far before Kevin appeared at his side. Kevin didn't say anything, but he rested his racquet against one shoulder and paced Neil all the way down the court. They were the last to the Foxes' huddle but their teammates made room for them easily. Neil answered the tired smiles sent his way with an exhausted one of his own. Kevin had eyes only for Andrew as he crouched in front of the downed goalkeeper. "So," Kevin said, "did you have fun?" Andrew was too tired to put any heat in his words. "You are despicable, Kevin Day. I don't know why I keep you around."

How do you think would Ominis Gaunt or Sebastian Sallow ask their favorite person to the Yule Ball?
(I'm salty that we didn't have an option to romance anyone, having the Yule Ball would have been a freaking fantastic way to introduce romance options 😂)
*slams hand down on table* WELL ANON LET ME TELL YOU I HAVE THOUGHTS.
The first is you’re so very right, we were robbed, and I’ll never forgive it.
Let’s start out with our dear Sebastian Sallow:
The boy likes to think he’s confident. And he is—in most aspects.
One of the ones he’s not so confident in is asking you to the Yule Ball.
That doesn’t stop him from pretending he is, though. Back in their dorm, he talks it up to Ominis, telling him, “Yeah, I’ll just ask them in Herbology, we’re next to each other anyways,” or “Tonight after dinner. A bit more private, after everyone else has cleared out.”
And he walks into each of those situations with the fullest intention of following through with his plans. But then he sees you and he can’t help thinking how daft he is for thinking you’d say yes. He still tries, though. He opens his mouth. He begins to speak. He even asks you something—it’s just never what he really wanted to ask.
Instead, what comes out is something like, “Want to play Gobstones in the Undercroft later?” Or “Think you could help me with my Potions essay?” And you say yes to that, so he’ll have to count that as enough for now.
Every time he goes back to his dorm knowing he’ll have to face Ominis’s exasperated sighs.
“Did you ask them?”
“Shut up.”
Again and again and again as the weeks melt away into days before the ball.
It’s when he hears someone else is planning on asking you that any inhibition vanishes in an instant. One second, his heart drops when Ominis tells him that Andrew Larson of all people is going to ask you, and the next he’s storming through the halls to find you. It doesn’t take long—you’re in a courtyard, chatting away to some other friends. He doesn’t even take the time to look around him.
“You’re going to the ball with me.”
Sebastian doesn’t even ask. He states it, eyes staring directly into yours.
You raise your eyebrow. “Since when?”
“Since I asked you.”
“And when did that happen?”
He has to think for a moment, realizing that technically, it still hasn’t, but this time, he’s quick to fix it.
“Will you do me the luxurious honor of going to the ball with me?” he finally asks, grinning.
You smile. “Yes, Sebastian. It’s about time you asked.”
When anyone asks him about it later, he’ll tell them it was a piece of cake. No big deal. Ominis will always roll his eyes at this, knowing full well that without his lie about Andrew Larson, it never would have happened.
As far as Ominis Gaunt goes:
He’s told everyone, including himself, that he doesn’t plan to go to the ball. He doesn’t want to, he claims. It’s not his thing.
Truth is, he just doesn’t want to go with anyone other than you. And he knows full well that won’t happen, as he has no intention of asking you.
You see, he doesn’t want you to feel obliged—that because he’s your friend, you have to say yes to the unpopular blind boy. He knows there are plenty other people who will ask you, so he decides to just leave it be.
Sebastian sees right through him, though, and does everything in his power to pester him until he changes his mind. It’s exhausting—which is saying a lot, because Sebastian is tiring enough on a normal day. Still, he refuses. But as the ball comes closer, he starts to feel small pangs of regret at his decision.
People talk about buying robes and dresses. Practicing dancing. There’s a contagious excitement in the air and he can’t help but get caught in it.
But he still convinced himself it’s for the best. It’s amazing you haven’t been asked yet—until suddenly, you have.
And you turned it down.
He’s shocked with Sebastian tells him, hearing the sky smirk in his voice. Garreth Weasley had asked you, and you’d said no.
It isn’t long until he goes off to find you, and soon he brings it up, his curiosity and maybe a little bit of hope getting to him.
“You said no to Garreth?” He asks.
You confirm this, and he’s baffled.
“The ball is only days away, what if you don’t get asked again?”
He’s shocked by the unworried tone in your voice when you respond. “There’s only one person I’d say yes to. Otherwise, I’m fine not going.”
Only one person… he can’t help bit frown, wishing he was the one who had captured your heart. “I suppose it’s for the best I don’t ask you and save you the trouble of rejecting someone else.”
He expects you to agree. To say sorry, but he was right. Maybe even to laugh at the mere idea.
What he doesn’t expect is for you to pause, voice going low when you finally say, “You’ll never know unless you ask.”
And it hits him that you want him to ask. That he is the one you were waiting for.
And when you say yes, he couldn’t be more overjoyed.

— ANDREW
Being with you feels like a dream. Andrew hadn't realized that it's almost Valentine's day.
Just kidding, he's actually been thinking about it since December. What? You're so special to him. It's only right he does something special for you too.
He noted every small detail that gives a clue about what you're fond of. And despite his dislike for social situations, he approached Emma to help him set up a gift for you.
Actually, he tried to approach her. It was the gardener that confronted him after she noticed that he's been following her while staring at her as if wanting to ask her something. Much to the grave keeper's relief, Emma was happy to help.
But he can't help but get worried. The gardener kept giggling and snickering whenever he was with you. She might give away the surprise! But for some reason, you were also fidgety. Do you already know? Maybe you don't like it? Oh god, he's even more uneasy now.
He thought of dropping the surprise but then that means he won't have anything for you at valentine's day. No, he loves you. And he trusts you.
The day of the much awaited Valentine's day finally arrived. After lunchtime, he planned to ask you to meet him in the garden while trying not to be obvious as possible.
"Can you meet me at the garden later, dear? I-it's nothing serious. I just...have something to show you."
"What? That's funny, I was going to ask you the same thing." You said to him.
What a coincidence, he merely thought.
Meanwhile, you were feeling antsy. Andrew did say that it's nothing serious. But you hoped it wouldn't ruin what you want to do for him today.
After you both parted, Andrew immediately went to his room to quickly get his presents and arrive first at the garden. It'd be ugly if he arrived last, he thought.
The albino waits at the garden with trepidation, as he stands there holding your presents—a bouquet of your favorite flowers, and a present wrapped in a wrapper of your favorite color.
"Ah! Andrew, you're already here..."
He hears your voice and footsteps approach him. But why do you sound slightly disappointed? Oh no. No, it's too late to back out!
He feels your figure behind him and he preps himself. His hands slightly trembling from nervousness. He inhales, gathering up courage before turning around to face you, almost losing his balance.
"Y/N, Happy Valentine's Day!" Andrew shouts. Oh Lord, he didn't mean to be that loud. The grave keeper flushes in embarrassment while hanging his head low, and his eyes closed.
"Oh...I..."
He knew it. You're embarrassed for him, aren't you? He trembles in his stance, scared of what you'll say next.
But only your laughter was heard.
Andrew gulped. Were you making fun of him now? He looked up at you, confused and mortified.
But there you were in front of him, bathed in the sunlight peeking from the clouds. You were holding a bouquet of his favorite purple irises wrapped in a light pink wrapper and a gift wrapped Ina wrapper with heart patterns. You were laughing heartily.
To him, you looked breathtaking. It doesn't matter if you say you look like a mess or you're only wearing casual clothes. You looked beautiful.
"Ahaha! I was planning to surprise you first."
His mouth falls agape in shock and his blush deepens. What? "I–...those are for me?"
"Of course! Did you think I wasn't going to do anything for you today?" You asked, walking closer to him.
"I didn't think...well..." The grave keeper fumbles over his words.
You take the present you were carrying to your other arm so you could caress his cheek.
"Andrew, you mean the world to me. And I'd do anything to prove to you just how special you are." You say before pulling him down/tilting his head up to meet your lips–taking him in a sweet kiss.
The two of you part, breathless.
"I love you."

— DEMI
February 14th isn't just about Valentine's Day, it's also Demi's birthday! It's twice the celebration!
That is why you've been wracking up your brain trying to think of something to do for the lovely barmaid of the manor.
Perhaps you've been too stressed trying to come up with something since Demi kept trying to ask you what was wrong despite telling her that you're fine.
"You sure? Don't work yourself up too much, okay?" Demi says, combing her fingers through your hair.
If you didn't stop yourself, you might've fallen asleep from the gesture with the help of her voice that sounded like a lullaby to you after going through a frustration.
Really, what can you do for this beautiful woman?
What can you do?
That question never left you. Even as you wrote a newfound idea. The reason why your mind stays awake even though your eyes wanted to close that night.
The day after that, you started planning and preparing furiously. It almost intimidated the others around you. It was like you had grown another pair of arms as they witnessed you feverishly prepare something in the kitchen.
Demi had taught you how to mix drinks before. She was so passionate about teaching it to you that she even expressed that she anticipates your progress. In fact, in the future, once the both of you find Demi's brother, you plan to set up a bar run by Demi and you.
So you thought, why not mix a drink to show her how much you've improved? Paired up with a romantic dinner or lunch (whatever you prefer) date, prepared by your own hands.
That is what you've been trying to achieve in the kitchen. A mix that you could impress her with.
You felt giddy and nervous while making it. And those feelings never leave you even as you look at your own work on the special day.
A white table embroidered with floral patterns, two seats–that you made sure was comfortable to sit on, in front of it are the meals you've prepared, and in the middle of the table was a vase containing a few roses. The drink you've especially made was lying in your hands. You were still unsure, even after the million taste tests you did. It tasted fine but will it be good enough?
Demi was going to arrive here sooner or later. There's no time to panic or to alter things. You'll just have to make sure it goes well, and if it doesn't–you leave it up to date and hope for the best.
"Well, my. Is this all for me?"
You almost jumped out of your skin. The bottle in your hands almost shattered from your grip. But the presence behind you merely laughed.
"Yes–! Demi! Happy Birthday! …And Happy Valentine's day too!" You greeted, facing her sheepishly.
The barmaid chuckled once again. How precious you are, she thinks.
"And what's that?"She points at the porcelain bottle in your hands.
"Ah, well...I made it for you. It's a mix I made on my own. I hope you like it."
Demi grins wider. She rushed up to hug you and kissed your cheek. "Aw, geez. You've certainly outdone yourself. How can my present be as amazing as yours?"
What? You break away from her embrace. "What do you mean?"
Demi pulls a small red box adorned with a white ribbon from her pockets. You could smell the faint scent of chocolates and roses from it.
"I have something for you too." She says while handing it to you.
You shook your head, "But Demi, it's your special day today! You shouldn't have…"
"Ha! That's right. It's my birthday and I get to do what I want. And I chose to give you a gift." She declared, urging you to take the gift.
Her eyes narrowed and she gave you a sly grin, "You'll do anything for the birthday girl, right?"
You could only sigh as you gave up attempting to argue with her. Cradling the bottle on one of your arms carefully while you use your vacant hand to take her gift.
"Now let's dine in! I can't wait to try what you've made!" Demi grabbed your arm and pulled you with her as she rushed to the table.
"Ah–hold on!" You exclaim.
The rest of the time was filled with smiles and laughter as the two of you enjoyed your time together.

— NORTON
Look, he's broke. That is no secret. He would have never thought that a holiday, something he hardly think about, turns into a day he'll stress himself out on.
Everyone could see that the prospector is working harder to earn money than usual. That says a lot, because Norton has always been a hardworking individual. Others regarded this change as just desperation to conquer poverty quick.
Perhaps the said motive still stays true. It's what the prospector claims to the few people that asked him to atleast take a break. But what he's not telling is that it's always you that appears in his head as he works. How badly he wants to use his money to get you the riches you deserve to be pampered with. But dear, he needs that money to eat, that's why he's trying to earn more.
Actually, You and Norton aren't a thing yet. He's planning to confess to you this valentine's day—as cheesy as that may sound.
He wish he could give you more, really. But he hopes that these three red roses and chocolates in a heart shaped box is enough. It was the most popular gifts—and the cheapest.
Beneath the moody exterior that shouts "I don't care!" Is a heart that is nervous and wishing to love. He does in fact care, he does in fact love you.
Norton may not be able to afford certain things, but he could prove to you that he can give you all the love in the world. He just hopes that you'd give this poor man a chance.
Please? The plead repeats on his head as the pen writes an invitation for you to meet him at the garden on the day of valentine's.
Please? The word repeats on his head, his heart starts to beat faster as he approaches you with the gifts at hand.
"...I love you. I mean it." Please. Let me love you.
In front of him, you stand surprised. But what you did next shocked him even more.
You pulled your very own gifts and a love letter addressed to him from behind you.
You smiled warmly at him, something that felt like a comforting blanket after being in the cold for too long.
"I wanted to tell you the same thing! I–...I love you too." You confess, face flushing.
Norton stands, face blank but cheeks turning noticeably red. His eyes softened, and he let out an eased sigh.
"I have one more thing to give to you, actually." He says, moving closer to you.
"Wha–really? Norton that's–" You couldn't finish your sentence. Taken aback when he took your hands in his and put it in his chest. Where you could feel his heart racing despite his unbothered expression.
"My heart. It's yours." He says and captured your lips in his.

more more bloopers (p. 3)
it's a huge group scene of both the Foxes and the Ravens and Nicky's actor says something to crack everyone up and Riko's actor puts the back of his hand up to his mouth to cover his chuckle and it's the most out of character thing ever
Matt's actor is supposed to glance up at someone coming into the room but makes direct eye contact with the camera
Dan's actress trips on this one line so many times to the point where she throws up her hands and goes "just recast me"
remember that Andrew's actor has to smile manically for a huge chunk of the show. so there are sooo many times when- especially in like very tense/aggressive situations- he turns to someone with this massive dead grin on his face while dropping the most intimidating lines. if you think there aren't SO many bloopers of the others breaking because of that...
Neil's actor is doing a scene in a classroom where he's supposed to be zoned out staring out the window and you can see the shift in his face when he goes from acting zoned out to actually intently staring out the window. and he squints outside for a good second and then whispers: there's a pigeon fighting a dog out there.
Andrew and Kevin are supposed to be in a heated conversation in which Andrew uses Kevin's full name. but Andrew's actor accidentally says "Kevin DAD" instead and cracks everyone up
then from somewhere in the background one of the others goes "more like Kevin DADDY" and everyone groans and Kevin's actor goes "hush up now"
Andrew's actor has his exy racquet slung over his shoulder (as per Andrew) and in the scene he turns away from someone after a conversation but in one take he accidentally smacks his brother in the face with the racquet
one of the monsters commenting on how squished the four of them are on the couch and the other three collectively push against him together to make him as uncomfortable as possible
Seth's actor has to swear a lot and after one particularly profanity-laden line, Nicky's actor raises his eyebrows and looks down, shaking his head, and goes "naughty naughty boy"
it's a group scene and it's all serious and shit but then Reene's and Dan's actors happen to look up at the exact same time and make eye contact but because it's so unexpected and their faces are all furrowed they immediately break (and then pointedly avoid eye contact for the rest of the takes)
the camera's rolling but they're just fooling around and Matt's actor (who can beatbox) and Neil's actor (who can't rap but does so anyway) put on a little performance and wrap it up with a "much love *finger hearts* album dropping next month checkity check it" (Renee's actress applauds)
and from then on it's a (very serious) running gag for the rest of the show that the two of them are a hip-hop duo. the entire cast plugs them in interviews and on their social medias and on set etc etc
just. Andrew's actor pretending to stab everyone all the time (he admits at one point that he very frequently is threatened with having his prop knives confiscated)
it's a scene where Neil's actor jogs over to join Andrew but on his way he trips. badly. properly eats shit. but it's fine, he just pops back up very professional and makes it to his mark. neither actor cracks up but then they're also? not saying their lines? their faces are straight but you can tell that they're putting their entire energy into not laughing and it's pure silence for like ten seconds and then both them and everyone behind the camera start dying. Andrew's actor is in tears
Katelyn's and Aaron's actors are making out and her hair gets in his face so when he tries to say something he starts plucking at his mouth and he's like "hair" and she's like "oh shit sorry sorry" and then they're both trying to help him and he's like "don't worry about it. tastes like strawberries"
Allison's actress pretending to give the camera a tour of the girls' apartment but it's in character so she's just lightly roasting Dan and Renee
also. it's not a blooper but a few of the actors giving a tour of the photos wall (most of which is real pictures of the cast) and they end up getting lost in the memories and forget to actually address the camera. it turns into them just pulling each other and other members of the cast around going "look look do you remember this day" and wow that's cute as shit
coach's actor is in a scene with the monsters but he forgets which twin he's supposed to address so after he says most of his line he stops abruptly because he doesn't know which name to finish his sentence with and there's a pause until Aaron's actor goes "...Aaron..." and Coach's actor goes "YEAH. Aaron"
Dan's and Neil's actors just finished having a heart to heart and the scene is supposed to end with her giving him a small reassuring smile while he looks conflicted but appreciative. except there's no "cut" so they're looking at each other for a good minute until they both slowly look over to the camera in sync with their eyebrows raised and start giggling
the twins' actors are Canadian and regularly make fun of each other when they accidentally put an "eh?" at the end of their lines
Matt's actor is always moving or dancing and there's. plenty of footage of him going from serious to goofily breaking out into a dance the second someone calls cut
(the edits.)
it's a running gag that Dan's and Nicky's actors are cursed so that when they have scenes together props break. pictures fall off the walls, racquets fall apart, buttons pop off costumes etc etc
it's a scene where the monsters are having a conversation outside, right next to the car because they're about to leave somewhere. and after they've shot the conversation Aaron's actor jokingly goes "SHOTGUN" and proceeds to scuffle with Neil's actor in the parking lot over the seat
a scene of Neil's actor doing homework in the dorm but the notebook he's "using" has been around for months and has acquired scribbles and doodles and shit from the whole cast. after they call cut he holds up the notebook to the camera to show all the nonsense and, in his normal accent, says "can you believe this kid. what a slacker" which becomes a meme
Allison's actress powerwalks into a scene but once she gets to her mark she completely forgets to say her line and then goes "oh- shit. i was so focused on not tripping in these fucking heels. forgot to talk" as she goes back to redo the take
Renee's actress is Australian and there's this one blooper where she's sparring with Andrew's actor and he accidentally trips over her foot. she plays it off like it was intentional and goes "yeah bitch. Aussie power"
Andrew's actor leaning on his racquet and then his brother kicks it out so that he falls completely
they're shooting outside and a truck passing by in the background honks its horn, ruining the take, and Dan's actress turns in it's direction and goes "do you WANT TO FIGHT? HOLD ME BACK, [Matt's actor], HOLD ME"
God bless

- You're the sunflower, I think your love would be too much.

[pairing: miles morales x reader]
[warnings: douche bags, slight violence, bullying, rough start to a sweet ending, slightly proofread]
[a/n: hi! i have disappeared for nearly three weeks now and it's bc of life! i somehow managed to meet someone and the past month with them has been really good! life was an emotional rollercoaster and i couldn't really write because i was mostly infatuated and also a wreck? i'm also planning on writing for andrew garfield's spider-man so i may have to rewatch his movies just to refresh my memory. i hope you guys enjoy 🫶🏻]
-
You had a history for getting involved with textbook douchebags. From Flash Thompson (a braindead, basketball loving, spoiled bully) to Harry Osborn (a rather good friend of yours who ought to remain just a friend in your opinion.) Flash was one of the worst people to be with. He has a humongous yet fragile ego. He made fun of your fellow classmates who were harmless, including Miles Morales. Miles was a transferee from Brooklyn Middle, which made him the perfect target for a bully like Flash.
“Maybe the broke should go back to where they came from, right?” Flashed yelled as he glanced over at you in hopes of getting your approval. You were all in a classroom, waiting for the next period as your previous class ended early due to the teacher having an emergency at home. You were usually seated next to Michelle, your best friend who unfortunately had to stay at home due to intense cramps. Seeing Michelle’s absence from her usual spot beside you, Flash made it his task to bombard you with mindless questions and insults of your peers. A few of your classmates glanced at your direction, waiting to see your reaction.
With an eyebrow raised you replied, “What are you talking about?” Flash smirked and pointed at Miles’ direction, who was sketching in his sketchbook while music blasted in his headphones. You rolled your eyes. “Just leave him alone.” Flash did not like your response, as he stood up and snatched Miles’ sketchbook. “Hey!” Miles yelled as he made a move to grab his sketchbook to which Flash stretched out his arm to prevent Miles from grabbing it. Miles attempted to grab his sketchbook once more, only to be pushed down his desk. You had enough of Flash and his antics. Standing up swiftly, you walked over to the pair. Flash looked at you intently, waiting for your next move.
“Stop being a dick and just give it back, Flash!” Your voice echoed against the walls of the silent room. You could feel your heart racing as Flash stepped towards you with a glare that could certainly instill fear in anyone. What happened next was a blur, as you were only standing in front of Flash, and the next, you were on the floor with a sharp pain in the back of your head. Your eyes clouded as muffled screams were the last thing you remember.
-
A bright light clouded your vision as you slowly opened your eyes. Sitting up, you winced as the back of your head was aching. “I think it’s best if you lay down.” A familiar voice told you. Looking around the room, everything clicks in your mind. You were in the nurse’s office, possibly due to whatever happened earlier. Miles was sitting on a chair beside you, reading a book with his bag on the floor beside him. “I think so too.” Groaning loudly, you gently laid down on the bed, turning to your side to face Miles.
“What happened?” Miles looked up at you. He couldn’t help but stare at your face. You looked so pretty. With the way you looked at him softly, with the gentle voice you have, he was sure to melt in his chair. “Flash pushed you. I-uh,” He stammered out as he looked around the room. With an eyebrow raised, you asked again, “You what?”
“Pushed him against the whiteboard? And maybe broke that board?” With wide eyes, you sat up quickly as you tried to register it. As the back of your head pulsed with pain due to sitting up quickly, you were forced to lay down on the bed again.
“Uhm. How did you do that?” You asked curiously as Miles felt himself heat up. “I mean, no offense, but Flash is double your size, Miles. How can you just push him?” He felt himself shrink under your curious gaze. “Look, that doesn't matter!” He laughed nervously as you raised another eyebrow at him. “Flash got expelled, and your parents and his parents are in the principal’s office,” Miles told you. Rolling onto your back and huffing out a sigh, you looked up at the ceiling. “I appreciate you standing up for me, Miles,” You softly spoke and paused to turn your head and look into his eyes. “I know he’s been causing you some trouble and I honestly should’ve done better.”
He looked at the floor, unsure of what to say. If he was being honest, Flash did bother him. It bothered Miles that Flash was always beside you, trying to gain your attention, attempting to sit beside you during lunch and classes. It irked him so much that the pent up frustration (plus his spidey-powers) was what caused him to react harshly against Flash. Miles knew you deserve better than that attention-seeking douche. If you gave him a chance, you would probably be swept off your feet.
-
You and Miles never continued your conversation regarding what you could’ve done better. Your parents had barged into the room thanking Miles profusely before switching their attention to you. As a known neurosurgeon, your dad advised that you stayed home for a week at best to heal your head. It turns out that Miles did in fact break the board of the classroom by pushing Flash against it. According to some rumors, it even escalated, with Miles somehow landing multiple blows. You were pretty sure those were made up since you knew that Miles wasn’t the type to act irrationally. Your classmates had all pitched in to send you a bouquet of lilies and a ‘get well soon’ card. Relatives had also sent their well wishes and close friends sent gifts. Michelle even went out of her way to personally give you her gift, a box of your favorite pizza, some ice cream, and a gossip session.
A particular gift stood out. A lone sunflower with an envelope. It was placed on your desk by your dad along with the other gifts and cards. “‘Get well soon. With love, Miles.’” You read the back of the envelope with a smile. Gently opening the small package, it contained a folded paper. You tugged the folded paper before opening it. With flushed cheeks, you stared at the paper. It was a beautiful drawing of you focused on the board. Your hair was a bit of a mess, with a few strands of hair sticking out. Eyes focused as you bit your lip. At the bottom of the paper, in messy handwriting, it says, ‘My sunflower.'
-
You had returned to school after the recommended week was up. Assuring your father that you were feeling fine was difficult. He was worried that you might feel lightheaded or even faint. However, he felt assured remembering that Miles was there for you. Your dad even recommended you go out with Miles as he seemed like ‘a good kid with a good heart, plus he knows how to fight.’ If you were being honest, Miles intrigued you. He was artistic and smart. He was polite and was family-oriented. Miles was a good friend and classmate. And you may or may not have had an eye on him for a while.
A few friends of yours greeted you as you entered the school. Questions of ‘how are you’ and ‘how have you been’ were sent your way to which you replied that you were feeling fine, better even. Your eyes searched the hallway for Miles, hoping to talk to him. As soon as you saw his red bag and headphones, you rushed to his side. A tap on his shoulder was all it took for him to remove his headphones, wide eyed with a nervous smile. “Hey! Y-You’re back!” He stammered. You hummed and gave a small smile, looping an arm around his to pull him as the pair of you walked to your first class of the day.
“So, I received your flower and gift. Thank you for that by the way,” You said and grinned at him as he could feel his cheeks heat up. “But I was wondering…” You trailed off.
“Yeah?”
“Wanna go out for some ice cream after school?” Miles could feel his heart beat faster by the second as his forehead started to swear. You smirked at his nervous state.
“L-Like a date?” He asked to which you responded with a nod.
“Of course! I-I would love to!”
“Great! I’ll go ahead and meet Michelle before I head to class. See you later, sunflower.” You winked before wandering off to meet Michelle at her locker. Miles stood still in the middle of the hallway as people gave him looks of concern. He was sure he was sweating profusely and his cheeks were flushed. “Sunflower, huh?” Ganke’s teasing voice called out from behind him. He groaned in annoyance.
“Shut up, Ganke.”
“Okay, sunflower.”

I can't stop reading your Hozier imagines! sooooo good😃❤❤ can I please request one where he's always saying that yn is his soulmate (she is, but she doesnt admit it) idk I've been thinking about this concept , and who more deserving than our tall boy? 😍😍
noun: soulmate
a person ideally suited to another as a close friend or romantic partner.
Andrew had a list of reasons why he believed he had met his true soulmate. He felt so comfortable around Y/N, like it was easier to breathe around her. She was furniture in the house in the best way, a beautiful addition that is right where it belongs, always where he needs it. She fit in every part of his life, like she was part of the puzzle his life will be displayed as. He felt like she was helping him put the puzzle together, she had the image on the front of the box and put the small bits together with a relaxed ere that Andrew could never achieve.
He often tried to tell her this, and she rolled her eyes at his artistic sappiness.
It happened once when he was sick, he had pushed himself too far in the studio and ended up with laryngitis, again. Y/N's heart melted at his sad scratchy voice and his sweater arms pulled over his hands. She plodded up the stairs with a mug of tea with plenty of honey, and pushed open the old, painted door that would often get stuck in the frame. Andrew's head picked up from his pillow slightly, and fell back down after recognizing the figure. Her socked feet continued over the antique hardwood floors that have held up for centuries, and placed the mug on the slightly more modern bedside table next to her resting husband. She pushed his messy hair out off his face and placed a kiss on his heated forehead. Andrew started to lean up, and reached his lithe arm out to grab his mug of extra-sweet tea.
"You're really my soulmate, Y/N", he said, as a thank you.
"Ok, whatever you say" Y/N replied, laughing slightly, thinking him a little dramatic.
______
Another time, Y/N was yelling for him from the hallway. He poked his head out of his music room and saw Y/N drop the tool box on the ground next to their bedroom.
"I need help taking this door off, I'm tired of it sticking so I'm taking the paint off "
"You can do that?"
"Yeah, there's a paste that like, dissolves the paint or something"
"Why don't we just, buy a new door?"
"It's been in the house for so long, I would feel bad! And its so beautiful, I just hate that all wood these days is covered in white paint"
Andrew stared at her, he knew she loved old things, but watching her take the time to restore something old and meaningful was so sweet, he appreciated that she shared his love of antiques and vintage items.
"You're my soulmate, you know that?", he added after his pause.
"Yeah yeah. Just be ready to catch the door"
______
He helped her set up the door in the garage to be worked on, and often checked on her whenever he took breaks from his music. He liked to bring her drinks, and iced tea (which he found offensive, as an irishman), topped with ice and often, a lemon wedge.
He placed the cold glass on the work bench in the back of the garage, the doors open with a view of the rain pouring outside. Y/N stood in her "messy" clothes, which consisted of a ratty t-shirt that she's kept for years, and paint stained leggings. He watched her slather whatever mysterious liquid she claimed could strip paint on the old door. Andrew walks over to her, and places a small kiss on her shoulder blade while she works.
"Thank you babe", she exclaims, without l looking up from her work.
"Anything for my soulmate"
"Ok, let me know when you find her"
______
Andrew closed the door to their bedroom, now nice and lacquered, the beautiful brown wood now free from the paint that trapped it for many years. The antique knob, polished and brassy, felt cold under his hand, and he could feel the latch click through the metal. The room was dark, Y/N having gone to bed an hour or two ago. He turns the TV in front of their bed off, and climbs into bed, tucking the lush covers around him and Y/N.
His arm stretched out to pull Y/N a little closer, his had cradling the back of her head.
"I love you Y/N, you're my soulmate", he says, even though he knows she's asleep.
It's the only time he can say it and have it be treated with the reverence it deserves.

Part 2: 42! Miles x y2k reader
Warning: nothing (not proof read at all!) it’s 12pm and I have so much school work to do rn (im deadass about to get kicked out)
Word count: 460
Tumblr media
It was 2.42am when your phone rang. Not your regular phone your flip phone. As soon as you gained awareness you jump out of bed walking up to your burner? Why would your plug be calling you at this time?
“Hey Andrew you got my stuff?” You rubbed your eyes putting in a pink robe with the phone in your hand.”come outside. Use the fire escape” a low automated voice spike through the phone you looked at the number
“My man’s”
“Who is this” you looked suspiciously at the phone
“I’m giving you 2 minutes come outside” the voice hung up leaving you alone with your questions.
Following what the voice said you snuck out of the dorm using the fire escape.
“You’re late. 4 minutes.” You turned around seeing Miles. His puffer jacket and jordans made you chuckle to yourself.
“Since when was you my mans?” You answer reluctantly
“Who’s Andrew?” He completely ignored your question staring at you blankly for the answer?
“None of your business…why did you call me out here in the first place?”
“responde mi pregunta cariño (answer my question sweetheart” he completely ignored you again and you were growing quiet tired of his shenanigans
“Miles answer my questions you woke me up at 3 in the morning almost broke my nails getting down here and now you wanna ignore all my questions?”
“I don’t answer questions Querida (darling) I just wanted to see you”
He pulled closer to you lightly grabbing your chin and looking at you but his eyes adverted to the back of you at the wall from time to time
“Your more different without your makeup” he stares at you for time and smiles
That smile that makes your knees weak that makes your heart skip a light beat and you knew…even if for a second that he felt the same way
But as he lowered his guard for a second the next second it was back up again with him pushing you away placing your real phone in your hand
“Now you have me on both your phones” he turned away walking into a dark alleyway. Sighing to yourself you climb up into your bedroom felling in your pocket you notice that your flip phone that you double checked was there when you left was gone and there was one possible suspect
Y/n: Miles where is my flip phone?!
My man: it’s with me until you answer my questions mami
Y/n: Miles! You’re not funny come back with my phone now!
Y/n: MILES
Y/n: MILES GONZALO MORALES YOU ARE NIT FUNNY!
My mans: night mami
Y/n:Miles istg I’m cutting your braids off if you don’t pick up the phone
1 missed call
Y/n: I’m going to kill you

As an apology for my last two Isaac posts, anddd because @mitsukitsume requested this, here's the Isaac version of that mini Andrew fic I wrote!
Hope you guys like it! Muah🫶
-
“How on earth did I end up in this situation?” Isaac sighs heavily.
Really, how did it all start? Let’s just say Isaac’s biggest mistake was getting you a phone and access to social media. Sure, you didn’t have an account, to be untraceable and whatnot, but that didn’t stop you from finding the cutest trends! Some of which require the help of a second party and who better, rather who else, to call but your dear knight in business attire?
“Stop being a big baby, if anything, this is your fault for getting me a phone.” You laugh at his whining.
“Annnd you bought me the lipsticks too.” You stuck your tongue out, mocking him.
You have him seated at the kitchen island, the lipsticks he purchased for you neatly lined up next to him.
It’s a habit of his, if you mention liking something it’ll be yours within a few days. So, when you mentioned your interest in lipsticks, he was up and browsing the internet for the best ones. Unfortunately for Isaac, and his lack of make-up knowledge, the most expensive isn’t always the best. That didn’t mean you appreciated them any less. You never purchased the ones you actually wanted and continued to use the ones he got you. So far you’ve acquired a collection of overpriced, luxurious lipsticks that could’ve easily been duped, and somehow, they mean the whole world to you. Isaac didn’t care about the price one bit. He thinks his lover deserves the best, and he’ll continue to spoil you with lavish gifts.
“Maybe I’ll stop treating you to gifts then.”
“WHAT? That’s not what I meant!”
He laughed at your reaction, the way your hand paused mid lipstick application with a wide-eyed expression on your face. Of course, he didn’t actually mean it, he’d spend all the money in his bank account on you if you asked him to.
“You just love pulling my leg, don’t you?”
“Hmmm maybe I do.”
“Wowww so mean.” You roll your eyes at him.
He doesn’t respond, just watches quietly as you apply the prettiest red colour to your lips.
“You ready?
“Do I have a choice?”
You kiss him on the cheek, leaving behind a crimson stain. “Of course not.”
Despite complaining, he’s sits still for you. His face became warmer, and his brain was melting like ice cream in the hot summer sun. Maybe it's the pent up tension from before you established a relationship. From all the times he held himself back from holding you, and now the effects of simple kisses are much more potent.
Kiss after kiss, you covered his entire face red with marks in the shape of your lips. And kiss after kiss, the more his heart rate increaded.
“Are we done yet?”, he mumbles.
“Mmm hold on a bit I need you looking the prettiest for me.”
He sighs, a silent protest but he still obeys.
With a few final kisses, you’re satisfied with your work. You take two steps back to admire your creation, but you don’t quite get to.
“Isaaaccccc you gotta look at me!” You drag and pulled your phone from your pocket.
Isaac simply cannot face you, he’s the most flustered you’ve ever seen him as he stares off to the side.
“God, how did you even convince me to do this?” He reluctantly lifts his head to look up at you, bashful and embarrassed.
You tried your best, you really did but you couldn’t hold back the laugh that escaped your throat. You held onto the kitchen counter for support, doubled over desperately trying to catch your breath.
“This is NOT funny, Pickle.” He rolls his eyes, and suddenly it’s even funnier.
“I’m sorry-“, you say between giggles, “I really am!”
“Well you sure don’t look very sorry to me” He raised an eyebrow, annoyed by your display. “Fine then, if you want to play, let’s play”
He pulls you towards him by the waist, taking you by surprise, and presses his cheek onto yours, dabbing the greasy splotches of red on you as well. He drags his face against yours until you’re both coloured red and the marks are all ruined.
“Nooo! You ruined it”
“You started this Pickle.” He says smugly, clearly proud of himself.
“Now we look like red smurfs, or I don’t know demons or something?” It’s your turn to complain.
“Then you might just be the most gorgeous demon I’ve ever seen”
“Really? You’ve seen other demons before?” You reply sarcastically.
“Stop being such a smartass”
His arms are still securely wrapped around your body, and he uses it to his advantage, pulling you close to kiss you. A proper kiss this time, a longer kiss to make up for how much you teased him. A desperate kiss to make up for the times he couldn't kiss you so freely.

Yandere!Grave Keeper x Reader || Identity V ♡
tw: Yandere, stalking, kidnapping, implied violence, mention of injuries
Tumblr media
Andrew is very used to scrutiny, disgust and contempt from other people. He was never accepted by others and always felt out of place, so it is no surprise to him that his life in the manor is exactly the same. But Andrew doesn't exactly blame the other survivors, after all, he dislikes himself all the same, a white-haired monster, as they call him.
Due to this, it would be enough for you to show genuine kindness and respect towards him for Andrew to become enamored with you. He is absolutely overwhelmed by something as small as you holding open a door for him, or inviting him to sit next to you at a table while eating. Not to mention, if you were to smile at him while greeting him in the morning, he would melt away completely.
To him, you're an angel. A gift. His chance at redemption. You're so kind-hearted, so empathetic, so pure and perfect. If he can protect you and make sure you stay safe, then all of his prior sins can be forgiven.
He doesn't even try to hide his newfound conviction. Andrew stalks you without even trying to blend into the environment, from now on you can be sure that there's always a watchful pair of eyes looking your way. It's almost like he is your shadow. Even if you tell him to stop, he won't. Should you hate him from now on, so be it, your safety is more important than anything else.
He doesn't see himself worthy of your presence anyways, infact, he thinks of himself as below you. In comparison to you, he's disgusting and vile, like vermin.
Andrew fights tooth and nail to keep you from being hurt in matches. He can take broken rips, bruises, cuts and even more grievous injuries if it means you're unharmed. This man would quite literally die for you if it was needed. Adding to this, he won't ever leave a match without you, and if he sees another survivor being extremely selfish or letting you down, they're sure to receive the full extent of his anger. You would never let anyone down. How could they?
If you allow him near you, despite how unusual he seems to act, he is overjoyed. He can't believe how lucky he is. He carefully listens to everything you say and if you ask him about his life and show genuine interest in him, you'll bring him close to crying tears of joy.
Andrew isn't the type to get violent out of jealousy. He gets extremely jealous, yes, but he condemns himself for it and tries to hide the feeling. It is definitely noticeable, though. The sour stares full of malice that he gives other survivors when they take up your time, how his eyes darken when you leave to spend time with someone else. Truth be told, Andrew looks very intimidating when he is jealous. That alone will probably make other survivors weary of occupying your attention for too long. Andrew would never admit this, but secretly, he is happy about it.
If you ever get seriously hurt during a match, it will unsettle him deeply, even if Emily does her best at patching you up and you end up recovering. It's not unlikely that this will cause Andrew to kidnap you and keep you somewhere safe. Somewhere you won't get hurt ever again. You can try to fight back, but Andrew won't budge. There's a good chance he will overpower you, too. After all, before he came to the manor, he made a living by lifting caskets and digging holes.
Andrew would be a gentle captor. Aside from not letting you leave, he wouldn't ever do anything you're uncomfortable with, and he'll even leave you alone if you want that. He hates to see you angry or sad, especially if you're crying. He will be especially distressed if you try to get him to let you go by hitting, scratching or biting him. Not because it hurts him, no, he can barely feel it, he is used to this kind of treatment by others after all. Andrew just hates to see you unhappy.
You're probably stuck with him for a long time, no matter what you do. Andrew doesn't care whether you hate or love him, because he loves you deeply, so so deeply. If you're upset, he'll hush you with soft words and brush through your hair with his fingers until you've calmed down. If you accept him, he'll be the happiest man on earth, and even if you don't, Andrew will protect you for as long as he can, in his own, special way.
