Mrs All American (Matty Healy)
warning: mention of dick sucking, tw mention of his fuckass mohawk circa 2013
note: god i’m so lonely.
⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚:*⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
he had been at the studio all day. it’s something you’re used to, him being a musician and all, it’s just a little unfortunate that because he’s always so ‘in the zone’ during his time at the studio that he never texts. it’s not impossible to get a message to him, but most of the time you have to call, which is a lot of work.
he left before you woke up this morning. you don’t live together, you have your own place but if you don’t spend most of your time at his house, you’d almost never see him.
today, once he left, you simply didn’t go home, spending your day lounging around his shared house with george, who was also away at the studio all day.
it’s around 6 in the evening now, you’re at the dining room table, headphones on blasting a catchy song by an australian pop rock band that you adore, and your back is to the door, so you don’t even notice a change in the house when the door swings open, two men entering.
you do notice, however, when a pair of arms wrap around you from behind, a warm breath onto the shell of your ear, a loving sigh, and a tight squeeze from the arms. the red bracelet, the ‘dad’ tattoo, the smell of tobacco on his breath.
popping out your earbuds, your eyes are still trained on the laptop but you touch your palm to his forearm, squeezing it. “hey, baby.”
“how’d you know it was me?”
“i can tell by the stench.”
he rolls his eyes, the sunset catching a curl against his cheek, causing the dark brown to glow golden for a moment, and he looks too beautiful.
“i’ve told you before, love, you’ve got to stop referring to any scent as a ‘stench.’ it makes it seem like i smell bad.”
you open your mouth to release a snarky remark but he predicts it. “ah! and i do not smell bad.”
you smile back at him. george enters, grabbing a soda from the fridge and cracking it open, not even paying attention to this lovers quarrel, he knows better than to by now.
“what can i say? you’re a boy. you’re stinky. and you have cooties.” he snorts and you hear george, against his best effort, conceal a giggle from across the room, leaving you feeling like a real comedian. they should start paying you for this comedy show.
“i do not have cooties, you stupid girl. you don’t even know.” he’s still hugging you from behind and the position is awkward for a full conversation so you peel him off and turn to face him in your chair.
“trust me, i know what i’m talking about. i spend all day in this house, and let me tell you, this place reeks of male energy. and cooties.”
he hums, not quite ready to let you have it. “you probably have cooties by now, then. shouldn’t have agreed to marry me if you’re so worried about disease.”
you grin and you don’t want to fake argue with him anymore, so you wordlessly turn back to the laptop. he leaves a parting kiss on your cheek, and it’s a bit wet with saliva so, like any intelligent woman would, you fake gag and wipe it off.
he gasps, loudly, stumbling back and placing a hand over his chest like he’s been shot, such a drama queen. “did you just wipe off my kiss?”
playing dumb, “i don’t know, did i?”
he lunges forward, smooching your cheek again, you wipe it off just as fast. it’s instantly become a battle that you’re committed to winning. he kisses again, you wipe it again. he kisses one more time, you wipe it off.
once more, he kisses your cheek and just as you’re about to wipe it off your face, he forcefully grabs your wrist mid-air and uses this leverage to yank you up out of the chair.
you’re chest to chest with him and for a split second you’re worried he’s genuinely lost his temper, but the thought is dissolved from your mind immediately when you remember this matty you’re talking about, and he loves you too much to ever lay a wrong hand on you.
he drops your wrist and instead gently takes your face into both of his hands, leaning in slowly to kiss you sweetly. this time, you decide it’s best to just enjoy it, you’ve been clingy and missing him all day and this is the first bit of attention you’ve received from your lover since last night.
after your normal, romantic kiss, he pulls away and with a silly smile, leans in again, catching your lips and releasing them with a big ‘mwah.’
“well, i got some candy for you my dear, but i understand, since i’m so gross and have cooties, i’ll just have to eat it all myself.” he walks away, grabbing at the plastic bag you’ve only just noticed had been dropped to the floor by your chair, and he disappears down the hall.
“wait! i’m sorry!” you holler and scamper down the hallway to catch him before he eats your candy because knowing matty, he may actually do it.
you find him sitting on his bed, trifling through the bag of sweets. “what did you get me?”
“you? oh, i didn’t get you anything. i got me a bar of chocolate and another twix bar in case i’m still hungry. twix is your favorite, isn’t it? ah, that’s too bad it’s all for me, then.”
you pout and approach him on the bed. “i’m sorry, please, you don’t have cooties, i love you. if you give me the twix, i’ll suck your dick so hard your stomach will cave in like a juice box, i promise.” you put your hands together and grovel.
“i’ll hold you to that,” he sighs and hands you the twix bar, it’s a left twix.
you giggle, giddy like a child given candy. it’s not far from the truth. he stands and stretches out, groaning and joins cracking. he pulls off his t-shirt, glancing at the hamper across the room and then to you. “think i can make this shot?” you put your candy down on his nightstand.
“no.”
“prepare to be wrong, baby.” he crumples up the fabric into a ball and makes a proper shot at the hamper, missing it by about 2 feet. the shirt lands helplessly on the floor. “shit.”
you burst out laughing, falling back into the bed in a fit of giggles. “that was embarrassing, stop laughing.”
he crawls over and lays down beside you, settling down on top of the black duvet. it’s when you both finally still that your neediness snakes it’s way back into your brain like an evil worm that tells you to kiss him all over.
you steal glances at him through your lashes, admiring his beauty, specifically his soft, dark curly hair. you scooch closer to him, pressing your body against his, propping up on an elbow and reaching out to brush your fingers over his hair.
like a puppy, his eyes flutter shut. “this is getting long.”
“it is. do you like it?”
“of course i like it. but do you want to keep it like this. wanna let me cut it?”
“if you like it, then i won’t cut it.”
“i like your hair all the time. except for when you had that fuckass mohawk, that sucked.”
he sighs, “i know, baby, i won’t do it again,” he sounds like he’s being scolded for something and you’re glad. you hated that fuckass mohawk.
“missed you today,” you keep a hand threaded into his hair, lightly scratching at his scalp with the very tips of your nails.
“missed you too. promise i’ll be home more often, hate being away for so long.”
“it’s fine. i know it’s your life. it’s one of your things.”
he opens his eyes again, looking at you with a deep sense of purpose all the sudden. with his one hand, he places it on your forearm, rubbing gentle with his thumb. “just don’t think i don’t care. don’t think i don’t miss you just as much every time i leave. it’s not hard to love you, it’s the easiest thing i’ve ever done. and the best thing, as well.”
you don’t know why, but tears begin to well up in your eyes and you want to look away from him and his intense gaze. it’s like he senses every thought in your mind, so he pulls you into his arms, chest to chest again, his nose brushing against your exposed collarbone.
he works his hands up and down your back, pushing under your shirt to graze across your bare skin, leaving a trail of goosebumps behind.
any sense of urgency in your clinginess is instantly lost as he holds you like you’re falling out of his arms.

Card game with Luke
During the summer in the town there's always a carnival for the kids and I guess the adults can have fun too. There's rides and some tents with activities and some mini-games where you can Ofcourse win some prices.
Me, on the other side was sitting in a tent, I needed some money and some type of extra job just for the summer. I called the boss and got a place In the " Futrue Tent ". The station is basically like Tarot or seeing people's futrue, do I know how to? No, but my boss came me these card and just roll with it.
The day was slow, it was late, we were about to close down the carnival for the night when I saw him walking towards me.
Tumblr media
That was Luke Hemmings from the band 5 Seconds Of Summer. " Hey, you the blond guy, want to know your futrue? " I called, I didn't want him to know I knew who he was, I didn't want to seem crazy. Luke came over to my station and sat down at the small table I had sat up.
" Can we switch this up, I know my futrue, what about yours? Can you tell me yours? Luke asked me. I said yes Ofcourse, I didn't want to be exposed for being a fraud.
I layed out the Card one by one and hoped Luke didn't know about Tarot, I was about to improvise this." Card 1, I'm going to go through a event that will change my life" I smiled, and he laughed at the saying, I just did two cards for not taking up his time too much. "Card 2, you will piss somebody else off because of something that will happend out of your control " I was a little confused but I played the part. Luke said goodbye and waked away and I got my stuff and closed.
Everything went black, Everything was spinning, I couldn't keep my eye open and I faithed.
I woke up in a room, the room had some mirrors, four to be exact. I got up from the couch I woke up on and went to one of the chairs infront of the mirror, it had water, makeup, drinks, snacks. " Where am I" that's when my whole body started to ache.
Tumblr media
I saw my hair get longer and it started to bleach itself, my arms got more muscular and grew more hair. My eyebrows changed form so did my eyes, nose and Jaw too, I felt the pain in my spine and down my legs, I cired out, but the pain went over to pleasure. I could finally see what happend, it was the Cards, I had become Luke Hemmings.
Tumblr media
The sight of my new look made my dick very hard, I needed to do something. I ran and locked the door, threw the clothes on the floor and jumped on the couch and started stroking Luke's... I mean my new dick. " Fuck Luke, your soft hand around your dick feels amazing, never felt this good before" I moaned out in my new Australian accent " I need something more" I spit in my hand and I started to fingering my ass " Oh my god " in and out, in and out, 1 finger, 2 fingers and finally 3 fingers up Luke's tight ass. I was a moaning mess and I came right on my new face, I licked it up " Luke you.. I taste amazing "
I cleaned myself up with a towel and unlocked the door. I went to the mirror to grab some water and calm down.
"I got a show to get ready for" I laughed out.

Green Day reveal hit song was initially wrote for 5 Seconds Of Summer
'...As Green Day prepare to embark upon the next step of their career, Armstrong has looked back at their 2016 album Revolution Radio. The LP boasted the single ‘Still Breathing’, which the Green Day frontman has now stated was initially penned with the Australian pop-rock band in mind.
“There’s a band called 5 Seconds of Summer who wanted me to write a song for them,” he told People in a new interview. “All of a sudden I was writing the lyrics, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, there’s no fucking way I’m giving these guys this song.’ There’s all those [lyrics] where it’s the last moment of someone’s life — it’s so intense. It’s just a song about being a survivor.”...'

KNOW IT ALL x THE BAND CAMINO
part 1
a calum hood songfic
Tillie Beckett isn’t known for sticking around, and maybe that’s why touring had come so naturally to her, even as an amateur when she first began as an opener for 5 Seconds of Summer a few years ago… hopping from city to city, bed to bed, hookup to hookup. She broke hearts and left messes behind. And she didn’t care about it all, too wrapped up in whatever whirlwind she found herself in next.
The habits became religion as she propelled to stardom. Her music — angsty, energetic, unapologetic, and unpolished — took the charts by storm following her self-titled album’s debut. Her words were raw and honest, and they resonated with her audience, with upbeat and electric sounds that even the grouchiest and grumpiest of listeners couldn’t help but nod along to. It was the perfect mix of relatable and catchy, and that’s what made her the perfect opener for 5SOS.
Ashton had found Tillie’s videos on Instagram, where she often teased her emotional and early versions of songs she was writing. Her raspy voice caught his attention quickly, and he became a follower very early on, before she’d gone viral… which, she has done several times now. When 5SOS was prepping their latest tour, he threw Tillie’s name out as his top choice as an opener, and the rest of the band quickly supported it after they watched her cover of their very own, very old song “Lost Boy” and put a fresh spin on it. It was a song that the band themselves had honestly forgotten about that she gave an entirely new life. They were hooked and called her just hours after Ashton’s initial suggestion to offer her the spot.
Her friendship with the Australian quartet was forged in what, at the time, seemed to be an unbreakable bond. She was invited to dinner at Luke’s house to review the plans, the money, and all the other logistics of the tour, but the nitty gritty was long forgotten as the five of them stayed up until the sun rose the next day, just talking, jamming, drinking, and smoking the stars out of the sky.
She and Calum weren’t instant friends, at least, not the way she was with Michael. Tillie and Michael had bonded instantly over being gamers with an affinity for ever changing hair colors. He could also dress in her wardrobe and no one would’ve been able to guess that they weren’t his clothes, that is, if her clothes were big enough to fit the 6-foot-something Australian giant, since she was a mere 5 feet tall.
But, her friendship with Michael isn’t what landed her on the cover of tabloids.
No, the pictures of hers and Calum’s necks covered in matching bruises were what landed on the homepages of gossip websites. The videos of her and Calum whispering in what they thought were private corners of dive bars spread like wildfire amongst their somewhat overlapping fan bases. Them stumbling down the cobblestoned sidewalks of Montreal, hand in hand, for an impromptu “bachelor party” for Michael littered their tagged photos on Instagram for weeks.
It was a pair nobody expected but nobody questioned. It wasn’t predictable but it made sense.
At least, it did to Calum.
part 2

A/N: hi i’m actually quite stoked about this one?!?!! sorry to anyone who wanted a self insert i personally feel more comfy in the OC x RP world and that technically won my poll! feels easier to separate as fiction/“characters” :)

LUKE HEMMINGS for TUSH magazine
- Tailor made -
On stage, Luke Hemmings is living his bloom, For Givenchy Beauty, the butterfly follows a different trail of scent.
Von Domen & Van De Velde - Into the flowerbed -
Interview by Afra Ugurlu.
It's pouring rain in L.A. when Luke Hemmings joins our zoom call. Just in time, the frontman of 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) finds refuge in his car on the side of a quiet road, not far from the big Hollywood sign. A look in the rear-view mirror: At the age of barely 16, Luke and his bandmates from 5SOS found themselves in the middle of an international fanbase. Their songs enthralled especially because of the band's juvenile euphoria, and the Australians quickly soared to new heights in the middle of the YouTube madness of the 2010s. But what happens when boybands grow up? After a decade of pop punk influences and with a little more chest hair, Luke took upon a solo career path for the first time and in 2021 released his debut album “When facing the things we turn away from”; a whole new insight into the obstacles and the success of the last years, he later reveals.
Almost 10 years have passed since “She looks so perfect” and “Don’t stop”. What has the last decade been like for you?
I'm living my dream, what else can I say? It was all very intense. You just accepted whatever came at you. For eleven years, for as long as I grew up, that’s been my whole life. Quite crazy, all the stuff that just came flying at us. I don't know whether we would have allowed ourselves this, even if rather short, break if not for the pandemic. Usually it all feels so fast-paced, I often have to pause to mentally take it all in—if you asked me to describe the last decade, then it’d consist of so many moments like that.
Did you ever feel like you were missing out on certain things and experiences during all that hustle and bustle?
I think they were very formative years, so there are probably some life skills I missed out on. In retrospect, you wonder: when was I supposed to learn that? And then you try to somehow fill those gaps. I had to emotionally catch up, but also with things like doing laundry, running errands and so on. There are some more significant matters, like not being close to my family, not to mention that I was missing my home in general. But then you start to put all those thoughts into another perspective: we did what we always wanted to do: write music and perform.
I remember 2014 and 2015, black, ripped skinny jeans and vans. How do you see yourself now, regarding your style?
Pop punk has always been a huge inspiration, and it was simply the style of all these bands like Green Day, Blink 182 and Silverchair. Back then, I was an absolute late bloomer and had to first of all grow into my own identity. I think it was similar with the other guys. We had found a thing that worked, and just stuck with it. It also just felt like a risk to me, doing something other than that, especially in front of an audience. Around the time of our third album, I started to open up a bit more. Our music was changing, and with it our style. At that point I understood myself a little bit better. From then on it just kind of evolved, and I think it still does.
By now you are someone who likes to step out and look beyond the binary. Was that always something that you were interested in or did you rather find yourself getting into it step by step over time?
Where I grew up, people weren’t open at all, everyone wore the same thing. For a long time, it simply wasn’t even on my radar. And of course, I’m not doing anything that someone else hasn't already done before me. I think it was in 2017 when I just started experimenting with glitter and nail polish. From that moment on it all evolved a bit, but it's actually always been something that fascinated me. It just took a while for me to find that part of myself. I feel pretty doing it, and who doesn't want to feel that way? If you only go on stage with a tracksuit, that might be cool. But I'm not an extrovert, quite the opposite, and when I perform and feel so much bigger, it's almost like playing a character. The makeup only emphasises that and turns me into someone who is not introverted and lost in thought. That's the origin of it all, so to speak.
How can we overcome these toxic gender perceptions and behavioural patterns, and heal?
I think a lot of the stigma we experience comes from people projecting their own insecurities onto us. I understand it better now because I grew up in a place that was very toxic in that regard. I'm from West Sydney, which was very conservative. If you’re a man, you have to be really ‘masculine’ and I think that's just complete nonsense. And I think that just sticks with you, growing up like that. There was a time when I came home and didn't want to wear makeup on stage. There was no way I would have done that, whereas now I just do what I'm most comfortable with. Personal growth means putting yourself first and accepting that people will think what they want either way. So really, you should just do whatever you want. That’s the way I'm trying to see it now. It sounds very simple and banal, but I wouldn’t know how else to put it.
Congratulations, by the way, on the release of your first solo album, “When facing the things we turn away from”. Which things do you want to turn away from this year and what else is there to come for you?
I’m facing myself and trying to be more open with the way I deal with stuff. My wish is to just enjoy everything a little bit more. I constantly worry about what might happen tomorrow. I’m not really present or enjoying the moment to the fullest. Everyone probably says that, but I believe it's more important than ever to live in the here and now. We're always looking for the next thing. You want to be at home when you're out and about, on the road when you’re at home. Only when it's over do you see what you actually had going for yourself, and are frustrated; so no ‘Live Fast, Die Young’. But I also think that this year will be a creative one for me. I want to try out new things. We’ll see which doors are going to open for me.
What kind of creative directions are you thinking about?
I can't really say yet. But also in general I don't want to limit myself by excluding new paths. Doing something by myself musically like the album was very intimidating at first. In the end, though, it was very encouraging as well because it was the first time in a long time that I tried something new again. Obviously I love being in the band, it’s my home base. But the solo album is something I never thought I’d be capable of, and now that I know that I am it’s definitely something I want to pursue further.
How do you manage working both on your solo career and with the band at the same time, and are there any points of overlap?
I have a feeling that with the first album it was a bit easier. We were in lockdown and everything on the band's schedule had to be cancelled. Suddenly, I had more free time than in the last 10 years together. I don’t think I would have made a solo album if it didn't come about this way. With four people in the band, all great songwriters and each having their own projects in the pipeline, I feel like it's actually for everyone’s benefit to give other things a try as well. I wondered what it could be like to produce a song from start to finish, and learned so much in the process. Afterwards, when I return to the band, it makes me feel like I know so much more about the recording process and can thus also be a better band member.
How did writing and composing for only yourself change your overall sound?
I don't know whether it significantly changed my sound, but I feel more confident than ever. When you're in a band, you have the luxury to lean on other people and ask: What do you think of this? Do you think it's good, or should we change this? Or someone will encourage you when you're on the right track, telling you to keep going. With this, the only input came from myself. I had to trust my instincts and first of all understand what my own sound really did sound like.
You have no features on your album. Was it important to you to create your first solo album by yourself?
After 10 years on tour, it was quite good to be alone for once and deal with my subconscious. The album is so personal and emotional to me, it didn't really lend itself to include any features. Maybe someday, but I think it has to fit perfectly then. And who knows what’s coming soon. But I think the point and purpose of doing something by yourself is to get accustomed to working without your usual tools.
What did you learn about yourself while working on “When facing the things we turn away from”?
Newfound empathy and love towards myself. The stories of these songs and the lyrics are mostly things I’m dealing with for the very first time. It's almost like writing a diary, you don't have any idea how to start. You sit down and something comes out of it, and that’s what you then try to decipher.

Xdinary Heroes: Jooyeon as your Boyfriend
Tumblr media
Happy 400 Days with Xdinary Heroes! Now I know I've already done a XH as your boyfriend and the romance troupes, but to celebrate 400 days with our heroes, I wanna get just a little more in depth with each member!
Summary: How is our fun-loving maknae bassist as your boyfriend?
Warnings: maybe some mentions of intimacy, Arguments, nothing too serious
Scenario: Boyfriend AU, Romance, Fluff, slight angst here and there.
(This is my boy! I'm about to hurt myself real good with this one!)
How You Met:
Okay
You two 100% definitely met at a music shop
You either had a 5 Seconds of Summer shirt on
Or you were listening to 5 Seconds of Summer
Either way he was in love
He told you how much he loved the Australian band
And from there you both talked about it for hours
Dates:
Dates with Jooyeon are so beyond fun
Like they're so random
But you love it
Sometimes they could be bowling
Or the amusement park
Or sometimes they're just in home dates where you guys have snacks and drinks and you're watching a movie
Or you could be watching music videos on Youtube
It's seriously so random
He might be sitting there with you watching a movie
And suddenly he wants to go get ice cream
Then while you guys are walking
He sees something else
And now he wants to go make couple phone cases
And on the way there
You guys pass by the music shop
So you gotta go in there first
Like I said
Random
But fun
Arguments:
(Can I just skip this one??)
Jooyeon doesn't show his emotions much
So sometimes it can look like he doesn't care
He may even act like he doesn't care
But he does
So when he hears you yelling
Or getting upset
It kills him
But just more on the inside
He would have to stop the fight
He would definitely use his guitar skills to his advantage
Play you all the songs he knows you love
You can't help it
He is your safe place
And you never want to lose that
If he's not anywhere near a guitar
He'll just walk over to you
And wrap his arms around you tightly
He'd also ask if you guys could just stop fighting
"I don't wanna fight anymore"
Affections:
This boy is so affectionate
He craves it
All the time
Like he loves when you hug him from behind
He'd do the same to you
He also loves holding you at night
He sleeps better that way
He's never afraid to show how much he loves you
He'd also sit with you
His arms around you
Teaching you how to play the guitar
Stealing a kiss every now and then
Okay now it needs to be covered
Jooyeon looks like a romantic kisser
Like he likes to build up to the kiss
Then when he does
He takes his time
Holding his hand against your cheek
Or rested gently on your neck
Or wrapped around your waist
And his kisses are always so tender and loving
Nothing is rushed in any way
(I'm actually crying)
The Little Things:
The list you have for things you love about Jooyeon
Could drag all the way to China
His voice would be the top of the list
His voice alone is one thing you definitely fell in love with
But then it was his laugh
That loud, adorable laugh
It makes you laugh right along with him
Now you two definitely have those nights
Where you have the music blasting
You both are screaming out the lyrics to My Chemical Romance's song Famous Last Words
"I AM NOT AFRAID TO KEEP ON LIVING, I AM NOT AFRAID TO WALK THIS WORLD ALONE!!!"
You both pour your hearts and souls out to that and many more rock bands
You also love the little noises he makes
When he's excited
When he's happy
You love hearing them
You call it Happy Jooyeon Noises
He also has a million things he loves about you
He loves your amazing taste in music
And he loves your carefree fearless attitude
And of course
He loves when you play with his hair
Even just running your fingers through it
He's addicted to that feeling
Like he's addicted to you
(Oof)
Jooyeon is not only your boyfriend, he's like your best friend, he is your everything, he wants to hold that smile forever and never see it fade.

5 points in a star!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
5 seconds of summer x member!reader
words: 5k
warnings: just some sadness over the lockdown. English is not my first language, this is a really old piece but I wanted to put it here and also first time making a reader first pov fic.
summary: being the fifth member of five seconds of summer has always been about being together during highs and lows. The only difference from the past, was that now, you all don't have to sing just to the stars anymore.
Tumblr media
You settled back in your seat, relaxing shoulders and trying to remain calm. Taking a deep breath and, upon hearing the words of permission, smiling at the camera.
“Hello, hello, I'm y/n y/l/n and this is WIRED's self-complete interview, where I answer the most researched questions about myself.”
After finishing the introduction, the production handed you the first plate of Google searches.
“To be honest, I'm freaking out” you took a deep breath again, leaving the board in your lap “I'm usually accompanied by four guys to answer all the questions for me.”
You started to giggle when you heard the laughter of the people behind the cameras. Muttering an 'I'm ready', lifting the plate, arranged it so that you could read and propped it up on your legs.
“'What does y/n do?'” reading out loud and throwing the sticker on the floor. You gave a big smile, proud “I'm part of a band called 5 Seconds of Summer, I'm the keyboardist and also vocal when we need it.”
“'What does y/n wear?'” pressing your lips together, looking at the papers on the floor “Usually some boots with high heels, I have to at least try to compensate, you know? It's hard to stand next to four Australians who are almost six feet tall.”
You shrugged, grinning at the camera.
“'What does y/n listen to?' Stupid jokes and good music.”
“'Does y/n have a tattoo?'”you stared at the plate for a while “Great question! But my grandma's watching, so I'll just go to the next one.”
You get excited, happy by the smiles in the room, always used to noise and chatter, a warm atmosphere.
You placed the question board on the floor, soon having another one being placed in your hands.
“'y/n how tall?'” moving your head in denial mode, you laugh a little “That's a secret that will be buried, let's just say I'm average, I swear.”
You waved your hand, pulling out the tape of the next question.
“'y/n sang Wonderwall?' Yes, I did, and I think every beginning singer in the world did too” you laughed, shaking your head, remembering your mother recording the performance while you danced with the new sandals she got you for Christmas. You pulled out the last tape.
“'y/n dating?'” you gave a surprised sigh, smiling directly at the camera “am I?”
You were leaning against the window, your body occupying two seats of the bus. The camera in your hands, recording some scenes for the band's tour diary.
“Is it just me or is there smoke coming out of the bus?” Your conversation with the camera was interrupted by Mike.
Randall approached, asking everyone to get off as soon as the bus stopped on the roadside.
“Come on, let's go.” you walked to the last seat, shaking Ashton until he woke up.
Luke got off the vehicle, looking at all the cars passing by and then, noticing the huge amount of smoke coming out of the transport.
“Is it on fire?!” a sleepy Ashton asked, stopping beside him.
Hemmings confirmed, watching Ash throw his blanket and pillows on the grass, he sat down.
“Are you really going to lie there?”
“I don't think this is the sort of thing they'll fix quickly.”
Soon you were at the bus door, but instead of getting off, you threw yourself onto the grass, rolling over until you were near the two men.
“Do you guys always come here?” you asked, smiling. But your pose was shattered when you had to wipe grass from your mouth.
Looking at the bus, you pick up the camera and record again.
“Our bus is on fire! It couldn't handle all our talent.” focused the lens on the smoke “Is this a good time to sing Easier?”
“It's a bad time to be singing anything.” Calum grumbled, sitting down on the grass as well.
You stared at him, shrugging.
“Until they fix it, we can have a party on the road!”
“A terrible idea, I give you five seconds to think of a better one.” Hood grumbled.
“Calum, you can go down by the road and hitchhike.”
“y/n, do you know the little voice in there?” Mike approached, putting his finger on your forehead. “It would be nice to ask her opinion about what you're going to say before you speak.”
You laughed, showing him your tongue. You looked at the vehicle again.
“The bus's kinda hot though…”
Luke was sitting on the couch, throwing Chips at Mike to get his attention.
“For God's sake, man, what do you want?” he turned to him, throwing his arms up.
“I'm bored!”
“Good morning, family!” You opened the door, smiling and speaking loudly.
“What happened?” Clifford grimaced.
“What do you mean, my dear friend?” You opened your arms, good humour exuded from every pore “Why can a bad day be a bad day just because you woke up on a bad day, but a good day can't just be a good day because you woke up on a good day?”
You raised your eyebrows, wiggling them suggestively. The man rolled his eyes.
“Let's do something! It's a day too beautiful to stay inside.”
“It's raining, y/n.” Michael replied, clicking his tongue.
“Let's go in the rain!” Luke stood up from the sofa, getting excited at the idea.
“That's the spirit!” you got even more excited, being infected with Hemmings joy.
“Wasn't a rehearsal the reason we are here?” Mike asked no one in particular “You guys can't be serious, is anyone listening to me? It's a terrible idea.”
Ashton watched Clifford's drama, not really wanting to take a side, but already putting on his shoes.
“It's like watching an episode of SpongeBob.”
Calum laughed upon hearing his friend's observation, getting up from the sofa and walking to the door.
Luke and you were dancing in the street, the sky was closed, almost no light sneaking through the clouds. The raindrops falling on both of them as they swirled on the asphalt.
Hood smiled, running towards the two and joining in the dance, his steps making you laugh and clap your hands.
“If you don't want to come and dance, you'll have to sing for us!” you screamed, as if there were no other options available.
Irwin looked at his friend still sitting on the couch, the two exchanged glances.
“Okay, okay.” Mike stood up, taking off his cap and placing it on the nearest dresser.
Ash stood in the doorway, smiling, he reached for his mobile phone, recording the scene. It seemed a moment too special to not be remembered.
You entered the garage, slamming the door brutally.
“What do you think you're doing?” crossing your arms, you stand in front of the four of them.
“It's over, birdie, get over it.” Mike grumbled, throwing the tennis ball against the wall. The pet name almost made your anger go away. Almost.
“Clifford, have you gone mad?” he frowned, looking at his three friends, seeing them in the same situation. “This is a nightmare, I must have drunk something by mistake, you can't be serious!”
You had no answer, hands dropped to the sides of your body, a feeling of helplessness taking over. You hated to see them sad, but despondent about their dream? Your dream? This was even worse.
“Come on, we're the star band, right?” you stared at your four best friends, saying with obviousness. The boys begrudgingly murmured agreement, even if they didn't know exactly what that phrase meant, it seemed important to you, so they weren't going to disagree, even if it was hard to believe they were close to being something great.
You kicked Ashton in the leg, signaling for him to stand up, and did the same to Calum, but giving his boot a light kick.
“Come on, guys! We're not an opening act anymore! People don't come a long way to see someone and then bump into us. People come a long way to see us! People like us, Mike! They like our music! Awards are nice and nominations are nice, but we're being recognized by people who have us for inspiration! Is there anything more valuable than that?”
You stared into his eyes, couldn't believe in the dream without Mike, there was no 'us' without Mike.
“Stars, Cliff, stars.” you smiled at him “Five points.”
Irwin approached you, one hand holding a camera.
“Are we recording this?” you frowned at the camera, tapping Ashton lightly on the shoulder.
“It's a music video, I think that's the idea.”
You snorted, shooing him away.
“You know what I mean.”
“We'll have a Behind the Scenes too.”
“Oh, that's nice” you said, this time with a lot of excitement in your voice “I didn't know you were going to be the cameraman this time.”
“It's a special occasion, I decided to interview the stars, I started with you because you're everyone's favorite.”
“And the first person you find.”
“That too.” The man agreed, looking around the venue, people were walking everywhere. “How are your emotions recording such a special clip?”
“Honestly, I've cried so much I don't think I have any water left in my body.” you were laughing as soon you finished the sentence, even if it was a little bit true. “Look at this…”
You took out your wallet, showing him and the camera some of the photos in there.
“This is me at Easter, I was very happy for the egg that comes with a hamster. I was also too old to have been disappointed when I discovered that the hamster wasn't real.”
“It's a lovely picture, you and your father look very much alike.” Ash commented, running his hand over it.
“Do you think so?” you looked at him, watching him confirm. “That's my stepdad.”
You started to laugh, making him laugh too, even if he was a little stunned.
“How many years have you known me, Irwin? Honestly…” he denied it with his head, facing the camera while grimacing and laughing.
The two were interrupted by Calum, who walked in between them, hugging them both and changing the subject.
“How long do you guys think it took to find a child that looked like you? I mean It must have been hard to find one as pretty as me.” Hood said.
“They found Calum very quickly.” Luke approached, denying the previous sentence.
“Luke was gone in a few minutes, just some kid walking down the street.” Cal stared at the camera as he remained with a laughing face.
One of the production men walked up to them, calling them to the outside footage.
The four of them followed him, finding Michael already outside. you perked up when you saw the yellow car parked.
“Can I climb on the bonnet? Please let me on the bonnet!”
“Please be careful.” Randall said as you crossed and leaned on Calum to sit down.
After the four of them settled down and the pictures were taken, they tried to record some of the scenes.
“Wasn't there a busier street?” you complained, getting a slap on the back of your head from Ashton. You looked at him, offended.
“Okay, I think you're all clear for today.”
“Humpf, saved by the gong, Irwin.” you pointed, getting down from the bonnet and running to the vlog camera, new ideas already in mind.
“I'm going to get something off my chest and if this doesn't make it into the video, we're in trouble, I'm going to run for my rights. If they put me in another wool sweater, we’ll have a serious issue. I'm sweating so much I could fill a swimming pool. And another thing, I'll never get used to the snacks here. On my next trip, remind me to fill a bag with just coconut snacks, you can fill my DM's, if I forget again it won't be for lack of a reminder…”
you took your eyes off the lens, watching everyone start to get ready to leave, soon having Hemmings take her attention.
“Luke just picked up his backpack, it's like watching an episode of Dora the Adventurer, hold on, I'll show you.” you talked to the camera, soon turning it to show the man with the backpack on his back “5sosfam, you can thank me later!”
“Why can't I connect?” Luke complained,
“Honestly, who let Hemmings mess with the Bluetooth? We want to get there next week?”
“It was between him and Calum.” Ash replied, settling into his seat.
“Why would it be between him and Calum?!” you frowned, buckling your seatbelt. You were in the last seat in the car, behind Ash. “And why am I back here?”
“Because you lost the bet.” Cal replied, finally getting into the car, making you snort.
“Take it easy on her, she's still upset that the carpool karaoke is with us and not James Corden.”
“No I'm not.” you crossed your arms, staring at the window “That man missed his chance, we're the best band nowadays, we're the band of stars!”
Luke took his eyes off his mobile phone to see her. It was a fact that you had always been their biggest fan.
“Not to mention that he always expects some member of the band to leave.” Michael sat in the driver's seat, placing his drink in one of the cup holders.
“'Turn your mouth away, Clifford. We can’t say the d word.”
They all suddenly looked at you, expecting some explanation.
“Disband” you whispered, like you were a toddler saying a bad word in front of your parents.
You held Calum and Ashton's seat, getting between them both and whispering again “'Are we allowed to cuss in this video?”
“Yes, but if Randall asks, we didn't authorize it.” Ash blinked, laughing.
Michael started the car, soon directing them to their destination. Luke finally plugged in his mobile phone, starting to talk to the camera.
“Come on, we've got our song coming out soon, called 'No Shame', the third single from the fourth album, the first single of this year, 2020.”
“And it's so fucking good.” You nodded to the camera, shrugging as Hemmings turned back to face her again.
“And we're in the car together, normally we go separately.” Luke turned his attention back to the camera, gesturing as he spoke “Actually, we're always together.”
“Always together.” Mike repeated, trying to stay present while paying full attention to the track.
“For various reasons we're always together” he said again.
“I'm never not with these guys, I love my siblings” Ashton emphasized, making them laugh.
The five of them sang the first ‘hey's’ of 'She looks so perfect' together, dubbing the lyrics. Calum looked over at you, doing along with you and Ash, a sloppy dance.
After a few minutes of performances and conversation, the playlist alternates between old and new songs.
“I'm going to be sick, for God's sake.” you threw yourself on the seat, placing your hand on your forehead.
“What's wrong?” three worried glances turned your way.
“No, not like that.” you laughed, so many years of friendship and they still hadn't gotten used to your drama. “It's out! The album's out!”
You showed the mobile phone screen, where the band's twitter page posted the cover and links to access it.
“Our album is finally out! You can order it now by clicking on any of the links.” Ash waved your phone, showing the camera the post. “IT'S OUT!”
Michael began shifting in his seat as he heard 'Girls talk boys'.
“I just realized, we're in the same places as when we shot this clip.”
“I'm telling you! I'm always in the backseat!” you complained, throwing your hands up in the air as you nudged a laughing Calum.
“You were the ghost, dove, what did you expect? To drive the car?” Irwin questioned, even though in your head it wasn't such a bad idea.
You loved to play the ghost, you loved the costumes, you loved them even more when you all were dressed to match. You still had the Three Blind Mice costume in your wardrobe, and wouldn't give up on the idea of convincing Ash to dress up as Eugene.
“Favorites are shown when they decide who sits on the arm of the sofa in interviews.” Mike grumbled, hearing affirmations from the back seats.
“Ash still had the audacity to stretch out and knock me over.” you stared at the window, trying to recognise the way they were going.
“To this day Jimmy comments about us being the first celebrities he didn't have to scare to fall on the floor.” Luke punctuated, biting his mouth.
“Next time, me and y/n will have the sofa to ourselves.” Calum declared, tucking the hat on his head.
“We don't have to go on a sofa one, can you imagine all of us in one of those Buzzfeed animal interviews? Puppies or kittens, I'll take both.”
“It would be five dogs to give one to each, it's easier to take the ones from home.”
The conversation was interrupted by a noise.
“Was that a fart?” Luke stared at Calum, watching him make the noise again.
“Are you playing with a fart app? How serious is this vlog?” you asked, laughing.
“I can't believe you can put farts in it.” Hemmings said, surprised.
“Oh my god, that is so stupid.” Ashton began to laugh along.
Luke picked up his mobile phone, switching to one of the songs. Just as the beat started, they heard an excited shout coming from the last pew.
“THIS!” you began to dance and sing excitedly to 'Strip That Down' by Liam Payne, soon gathering all the boys for the performance.
“So put your hands on my body and swing that round for me, baby, swing it” the choreography was made sloppily, while changing your voice tone to sing all the parts “Ah! I love this song.”
“Almost our entire discography played here and I didn't hear y/n say it.” Ash looked at the camera, raising his eyebrows and getting your tongue as an answer.
The next song played, Luke introducing it.
“And this is the first track from our album, Red Desert.”
“What's up? What song is it going to be?”
Calum asked, the band of the instrument already placed around his neck.
“How about When you walk away?” you clapped your hands together. Ash stared at you “Come on, I'm a widow of unreleased and forgotten songs.”
“Meet you there sounds like a good warm-up, then we'll rock it out with some album tracks…” Luke hinted, watching you give in.
“First of all, one rule” Michael held up his finger, soon pointing it at you “No pulling my trousers down during rehearsal.”
You snorted, rolling your eyes.
“I've only done it once!” you tapped your foot, walking over to the keyboard.
“Actually, it was three, if you count the ones with cameras off.” Hood shook his foot, laughing.
“You know, Cal, I had an idea for us…”
“No way. - You're in a band, y/n, we're not going to do a routine on stage.”
“One day he'll give in.” you whispered, watching Ashton smile at you and wink, as if your idea might one day come to reality.
The feelings were varied, euphoria mixed with apprehension, which didn't make for a good match with a teenage mind.
“You know, every time I dare to question if all this is worth it, or if we're even capable, I look to the sky.” you stared at the boy, giving a brief smile.
“You look at the sky?” he squinted his eyes, arching one eyebrow.
You took a deep breath, thinking of the best way to explain the feeling you had. Taking the boy's hand, guided him to the backyard, and sat down on the grass, looking up.
“I imagine myself in a stadium. Each one of these stars is a fan in the audience, excited about the opportunity to hear us play. - Sometimes the sky has fewer of them, sometimes it's all black, but that doesn't mean all the stars are gone. You can still play for them.”
You straightened up in your chair, making a mental note to buy a more comfortable one. Always ended up procrastinating on such a task and, now in quarantine, you were suffering even more for not doing the purchase.
You stared at yourself at the computer screen, looking at your own "scenery" while the four men talked. You had the device in your reading corner, besides the books, some paintings of the five of you adorning the wall.
“We could start by talking about y/n being banned from asking fans for help.” Ash made a suggestion, raising his eyebrows.
“What do you mean? What's wrong?” Luke asked, finally sitting up after trying to straighten out his seat again.
“I made the mistake of allowing people to remind me to buy a Brazilian candy bar, and now there's nothing on my timeline but bookmarks and reminders.” you shrugged.
“The worst part is that now y/n has a lifetime supply of candy because their mother sent a box. Their grandmother sent a box. Their aunt and uncle sent a box.” Michael held up his fingers, enlisting for emphasis, as he laughed at the situation “And not only that, but a company sent a box after their name went on the trend.”
You covered your face with your hands, hiding the desperate laughter.
”We can record something, who puts more candy bars in their mouth? Who can sing with candy in their mouth?”
“y/n wants to use us!” Calum commented, pointing at the you, who laughed, getting excited trying to deny it.
“We're going to live on paçoquinha.” Luke spoke up, the word sounding funny to his ears.
“Can we continue on the subject of y/n's mistakes?” Michael continued.
“What did I do this time?” you asked, playing offended as scratching your foot.
“Did you stop singing out of the blue?”
“Oh, it wasn't even that long!” you answered, putting your arms around your waist, laughing at Hood's face. You could never keep a straight face around them.
“You never explained to us what happened.” Hemmings took another sip of his drink.
“You know that moment when you have an inner epiphany and become self-conscious about where you are?”
You received several 'no's' in response, even if Calum had understood a little of the feeling. Laughing, you mumbled a few words, trying to simplify the situation.
“I don't know how to explain it, I just went 'wow, look at the size of this crowd, what a huge show I'm in' and forgot that I was the singer of the show.” you shrugged, following the others in their laughter.
Your voice lowered gradually, but you kept your smile. Hood arched one eyebrow, as he stared at his best friend's camera. He found the behavior strange, a small worry already growing in his chest. Ever since the wave of internet attacks, Calum had remained apprehensive about y/n's emotions.
“If you could be anyone in the band, who would you be?” Ash questioned them, biting his lip as he thought and pulled everyone's attention.
“What kind of question is that?” Calum fiddled with his teacup.
“I would choose myself, because I would still be best friends with the four of you.” Luke shrugged, looking past the computer.
A few seconds of silence perpetuate itself.
“Now whatever answer we give ourselves, we'll be terrible human beings, thank you, Luke” Mike complained, making Ashton laugh.
You smiled, moving your hand on the camera, trying to pretend to pimp Hemmings' hair through the screen.
“I should put the video of Ashton singing Good as Hell on the internet, we need to flesh out the quarantine. Things have been a little restless.”
“What's your problem with peace?” Irwin narrowed his eyes, crossing his arms.
“What do you love about it?”
“If you don't want peace, I could take it from you, if they've already freaked out on your timeline over a piece of candy, imagine when they find out about your fan twitter account.” Ash teased, laughing at the nonchalant look on your face.
“This is blackmail! And the only thing I do there is say shit about you.”
Luke laughed, watching the story unfold.
“y/n's user is calumhood8love.” The man exposed, watching you almost choke on the drink.
“Eightlove?” Mike frowned.
“Yeah, infinite love, like the infinity symbol but on the side, you know?” you tried to explain yourself while you took a breath of air, your throat hurt from laughing so hard “Come on, I thought I was really smart for that…”
After the call ended, you went to your home studio in order to get some work done. Having no success tyoure, decided to take what was needed to the living room, but failed in this task as well.
Staring at the instruments in front of you, the electric guitar and keyboard were placed on the otyour side of the sofa. You were sure that if they were not inanimate beings, they would be judging you right now.
On your lap, a notebook of scribbles and ideas lay open. You would have liked to make more progress, but only one sentence was written: "open the window, hear sounds of people.”
you didn't know what to do, if you should just concentrate on finding your lyrics or invest in some melody that would fit.
“i can see smoke coming out of your ears.” the voice came out of the cell phone, Dominic grimaced.
“This sucks, I feel like crap, I can't produce anything.” He shoved his notebook in his face, wanting to scream.
“Do you want me to be honest? I think you're making this into more of a problem than it is. You're visualizing your frustrations in this song, y/n.”
you huffed, crossing your arms and looking at him from behind the cell phone screen.
“Normally I would have been able to expose them in the lyrics, but even that didn't work.”
“You don't have to talk to me about it if you don't want to.” Harrison shrugged, "Can't you talk it out with Mike? You guys talk a lot, don't you?
“I don't want to bother them with this kind of silly stuff, not to mention that they would worry about nothing.”
“Haven't they been your best friends for, like, a decade? Do you really think it will bother them?” he raised an eyebrow, clearly disbelieving the speech.
“Do you sell this advice?”
“If you didn't want an enlightening conversation, you know you called the wrong person." he said, laughing.
“I just want this all to be over soon.”
“Me too, you owe me a visit.”
“I can't wait to land in the land of the queen again!” he held his arms up, smiling.
“Are you all free this month?"
“I think we only have one to do, the one for reading the thirsty tweets, you know?” And a few online interviews, but not with all of us...
“So we'll talk more soon, I need to go record some stuff, you know…”
“Yeah yeah, no problem, good night Dom.”
And he hung up the phone. You were about to do the same with your phone when he got a message.
I left a box of cookies on your doorstep, hope you're feeling better, y/n
P.S. They are the animal ones —Cal
It was the first time in a while that the band had reunited, after a week in great isolation, the four of them made their way to the Irwin residence.
Calum, Michael and Luke were in the kitchen, finishing setting the table. Ash excused himself, going into the hall to look for his other bandmate, a good few minutes had passed since you had left to go to the bathroom.
The man found you standing in the living room, with his new album, Superbloom, in your hands.
“It's amazing, Ash.” you said, noticing his presence.
Ashton smiled, even happier with his work after seeing your eyes light up as you complimented him.
“Can you believe we paid three bucks for you to play and now you have, like, 300,000 views on a video?”
The drummer's mouth tightened as he saw the tears come to your eyes, and he had to restrain himself from being carried away by his emotions as well. He came closer, giving you a tight hug.
“You don't know how proud we are of you, Ash. Even though I think it's absurd that I wasn't invited to do a duet” you said, your head resting on his shoulder.
He pulled away, clicking his tongue and putting his arms around your waist, as if he was really affected by the sentence. Your drama made Ash laugh and you smiled, that was the intention.
“have you guys had your moment or should we put everything back in the oven?” Mike appeared in the doorway, raising his eyebrows.
They both looked at each other, you quickly nodded and stared at Ash.
“He always gets sad when he's not called in for a group hug.”
“Maybe he's sad because he wants the four of us to hug him and smother him with love.”
“Or maybe he's sad because he's starving to death and none of his friends care.” Michael put his hand on his forehead, letting out a sad sigh.
You walked over to the man, pushing him by the shoulders and walking with him to the kitchen.
Ashton held up his album, reading again the dedication he had made to you and smiling at his own words.
He put the gift close to his bag and walked back to the kitchen.
“Mike, quick question.” you nudge your friend, sitting down next to him “How much do you want to drink the water from this pickle jar?”

Release: February 5, 2020
Lyrics:
Angel, with the gun in your hand
Pointing my direction, giving me affection
Love is fatal
Won't you give it a chance?
Center of attention
Don't you ask me any questions
Go on and light me like a cigarette
Even if it might be something you regret
You got me now, now, now
Swallow me down, down, down, down
I only light up when cameras are flashing
Never enough and no satisfaction
Got no shame
I love the way you're screaming my name
Diggin' my grave to get a reaction
Changing my face and calling it fashion
Got no shame
I love the way you're screaming my name
Lay me in the palm of your hand
I'll give you my permission
You'll always be forgiven
Go on, replace me
When you're craving something sweeter than the words I left in your mouth
Go on and spit me out
I only light up when cameras are flashing
Never enough and no satisfaction
Got no shame
I love the way you're screaming my name
I love the way you're screaming my name
Diggin' my grave to get a reaction
Changing my face and calling it fashion
Got no shame
I love the way you're screaming my name
I love the way you're screaming my name
Go on and light me like a cigarette
Even if it might be something you regret
You got me now, now, now
Swallow me down, down, down, down
I only light up when cameras are flashing
Never enough and no satisfaction
Got no shame
I love the way you're screaming my name
Diggin' my grave to get a reaction
Changing my face and calling it fashion
Got no shame
I love the way you're screaming my name

SongFacts:
"No Shame" is a song by Australian pop rock band 5 Seconds of Summer, released on February 5, 2020 as the third single from the band's fourth studio album, Calm. The song was written by Calum Hood, Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin, Michael Clifford, Alexandra Tamposi, Andrew Wotman, Nathan Perez and Donna Lewis.
An accompanying music video for "No Shame" was released on YouTube on February 7, 2020 and has 19 million views as of March 2021. Directed by Hannah Lux Davis.
The band is featured in a cheetah print performance box. In between there are recordings of the individual members doing an activity that is linked to a song lyric. Calum Hood is shown with a wife and two children. He gives her expensive gifts and they are seen posing for photos in front of a neatly manicured lawn. This fits with the text “Never enough and no satisfaction”. Next is Luke Hemmings' scene. The other band members and crying relatives attend his funeral. He later arrives dressed in black and it is revealed that he faked his own death. It strongly reflects the lyrics: "Diggin' my grave to get a reaction." Michael Clifford and a group of friends have an accident. They immediately take selfies of the incident, presumably to post on social media. The lyric “I only light up when the cameras flash” fits this scene. Ashton Irwin is portrayed as a sort of plastic surgeon operating on a woman. The text described reads: "I change my face and call it fashion." At the end, all four band members take off their masks to reveal older men underneath at the end of filming. The song is widely believed to reference the negative aspects of social media, the music industry, and possibly the paparazzi and fans. Ashton Irwin (the band's drummer) confirmed this live on Instagram.

OT4 (2) Masterlist
part one
a glimmer of hope that was starin’ at me - @sup3rbloom (haveufoundwhaturlookingfor) OT4, Michael/Luke T, 7k
Summary: It’s difficult being in a relationship with three guys, and one of them hates you. On their one year anniversary, the four go to a cabin to celebrate. Luke knows that he has to make a decision soon. Things get messy, and then they’re okay again. Happy ending.
Ash is on the floor (ao3) - tinyglitterrose M, 4k
Summary: "Are you hard?", Luke asked bluntly and immediately he had the attention of three australians.
Play it cool, just play if off, Ashton thought to himself, as if he was not panicking right now.
"No? What the fuck, Luke?", he tried to sound arrogant and even rolled his eyes at the blonde, but the other man wasn't having it.
"No, no, you're hard, I saw that", then he giggled, "You have a boner, Ashy, I saw it"
Ashton shook his head violently, but Calum interrupted him before he could object again: "Do you really?"
--- basically an Ashton centered foursome with plot.
A sweet kiss from your strawberry lips (ao3) - livefastdiehung N/R, 1k
Summary: Luke’s lip gloss tastes like strawberries, he wants his boys to know it.
Banding - @daydadahlias (cornflowerblue (daydadahlias)) M, 3k
Summary: “Do you guys ever, like, wanna know what it feels like to get nutted in?”
do it better (ao3) - lourrygum N/R, 8k
Summary: takes place during the time michael lost his passport and was stuck in the US while his band performed in the UK. He feels upset about it and stops answering their calls and may or may not unfollow them on twitter, leading to questions and anxiety.
or, ¾ of 5sos go to the US to see michael and end up fucking him senseless.
Fucking Jerks (ao3) - orphan_account E, 37k
Summary: "Okay, who cums first loses, and owes a blowjob to the winner. Correct?" Calum raises his brows: "A blowjob now, huh?" "Well, a dish fit for a king," Michael replies.
Or: Ashton bids a Jerketition and who is Michael to refuse...? (Includes the winner+loser spin off)
i don't run away when your face says "achoo" - @sup3rbloom (haveufoundwhaturlookingfor) T, 2k
Summary: Ashton gets sick, and his boyfriends come to the rescue to take care of him.
i love the way you talk about me (ao3) - orphan_account Calum/Ashton, OT4 N/R, 13k
Summary: “I want you to understand.” Ashton continues. His eyes and voice aren’t gentle anymore. “You’re here to service me. To service us. You are a fuck toy, and nothing more. You do as I say without complaint or hesitation. You know this, calum, and I expect you to behave. If I ask you to jump…” “I ask you how high.” Calum says. His eyes are cast down, his cheeks filled with color. He’s upset Ash, he doesn’t deserve to look at him. “Good. Finally did something right.” Ashton says.
or the one where Calum is a brat to his boyfriend, who decides that he’s going to make Calum sorry via his other two bandmates.
or the one where I hit rock bottom and write Ashton, Michael, and Luke fucking Calum into oblivion.
July (So Happy I Could Cry) (ao3) - valiantnerd (arareads)
Summary: Michael's boyfriends are dumb and far too in love with each other. They're also having a picnic.
Kisses For Everyone (ao3) - The_Lady T, 1k
Summary: That blonde boy keeps kissing a bunch of different guys. Hallie’s getting a little worried for his boyfriend.
or ot4 from the pov of a girl who does not know they’re a polycule.
lucky are they (who live unaware) (ao3) - itsafuckingmess T, 7k
Summary: The boys of One Direction may be a little dense sometimes, but they’re no idiots. They know something is up between the boys of the band that tours with them as a supportive act. They just don’t know what yet. | Or, alternatively, 5 times the One Direction boys didn't realise 5 Seconds of Summer were dating and 1 time it was blatantly, inexcusably obvious
makeup isn’t just for girls - @sup3rbloom (haveufoundwhaturlookingfor) T, 3k
Summary: During Quarantine, Luke takes up nail painting as a hobby. Eventually, he adds makeup too. When he’s with the boys again for tour, he comes clean about his new hobbies. Unfortunately, not all of his boyfriends are supportive.
Sick Day (ao3) - TylerM G, 4k
Summary: The one where Ashton gets sick on the WWA tour and tries to keep it from his band, and fails miserably.
stumble through it all (ao3) - loafers ot4 M, 18k
Summary: michael and calum decide not to break up when calum has to move away for school. it's both more complicated and simple than either expected.
the best thing that ever happened (ao3) - citiesbelow E, 4k
Summary: “We were talking the other day and we realized that we pretty much only have any of this because of you,” Luke said, shrugging. “I mean, if you hadn’t decided to stop hating me and ask me to start a band instead, obviously we’d never have made friends, and Cal and I wouldn’t have been friends with each other either, and you were the one who knew Ash and asked him to join the band. And obviously we’ve all thought about that before, we’ve talked about it plenty, but we would never have been able to date each other either if not for you doing all of that back when we were kids, and we wanted to thank you. With sex,” he added, as if the context didn’t make that obvious.
OT4 anniversary sex in which they all spoil Michael as much as they can!
we fuck (and we fight) (ao3) - itsafuckingmess E, 4k
Summary: It's been ten fucking minutes since Ashton finally put his health first and sat in their fucking bed to sleep his cold off and Luke and Calum are already amidst a spat that could easily lead to a heated argument.
And, frankly, it’s been ten minutes and Michael is already losing his temper.
with a feeling i’ll forget, i’m in love now (ao3) - orphan_account M, 2k
Summary: Ashton had never really been nurtured in the way a child should be.
When his father had walked out on them at such a young age, Ashton had to step up and be the man of his house, helping bring in money and helping to raise his two younger siblings. He wasn’t unloved or treated unfairly by his mother, quite the opposite, but she had never had the time to coddle him the way he craved.
or, an Ashton-centric ot4
You look so restless and you’re so far from home (ao3) - antisocialhood E, 5k
Summary: Luke expects drugs at Glastonbury Festival, lots and lots of drugs. He doesn’t expect to get a special behind the scenes tour.

Chapter One- More Than Qualified
The leaves brush past my ankles, blown by the cool autumn wind. I tighten the blazer around my torso, buttoning it in the front as I walk towards the tall glass building. This was my opportunity to change my future.
I open the door and the receptionist smiles up at me with perfect white teeth behind perfectly painted red lips, “Good morning, how can I help you?”
“I'm here for the interview to replace Benjamin Evans,” I reply, keeping my voice even and smooth. She looked at me for a moment, doing a fair job at hiding her surprise, “Ms. Dawson is it? Have a seat and I’ll call you up in about 15 minutes at your interview time.”
I thank her and found a seat near a window, pulling my phone and airpods out. I went to the favorites list on my contacts and pressed the first one.
“Hey bestsie booskie, are you on the way to the interview?” My best friend Blake’s voice rang out on the other side of the phone. “I’m waiting in the lobby of Madison Avenue for them to call me up. I'm really trying to stay calm here.”
“Well remember what you heard in that TikTok, it's helped you in interviews before. Take your time when you're speaking, they are there to listen to you. You set the pace with them okay?” Blake’s voice was very calming and I could tell that they were really trying to calm me down. “Also, you should go over your notes and the Tweets that you saved about the situation. I know it’s been a while but since they're finally setting out for a manager, they're going to need to be touring soon again. Just remember the talking points we went over yesterday.”
It was a good idea, and since Blake was in my airpods, I could look at my phone while I listened to them talk on the other end.
“Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer look for new management a year after firing Benjamin Evans due to mismanagement,” was the first headline that read in the trending page on Twitter.
It was a pretty large scandal following a song that was released two months after their 5th album, 5sos5. They claimed it was a total accident but the lyrics that the band had written together in secret spread like wildfire and had many people questioning what their manager was doing behind the scenes that made them feel this way. Eventually the band finally had the rest of the HR team file an injunction and got Evan’s fired from his position. Because of this, the entire responsibility of managing fell onto the band themselves and in order to pick up the pieces, they had to cancel their tour for 5sos5.
Now that a year has passed and they were able to settle the lawsuit that Evan’s filed against them, they're looking for new management in order to be able to go on tour again and just get back to normalcy.
“The fans are really excited to see them, and I’m sure they’re excited to get back on the road as well, Kavya. You just have to ensure that you will be there to back them up, not control them.”
Blake’s voice snaps me out of my thoughts about the scandal. “I know Blake, listen I’m gonna call my mom real quick before I have to go in okay?” I pull up my mom's contact on my phone, “Okay bubs I’m so excited for you! Try not to pass out at how gorgeous they are! Do good, I love you!”
“I love you too Blakie,” I replied and went ahead and started calling Mom.
“Hey Kavya-nana, what’s up,” I immediately took a breath hearing my mom's voice on the line. “Mom, I’m freaking out.”
“Is the interview over already?” She asks, surprised. “No, no, I'm in the lobby waiting but I’m seriously so nervous.”
“Kav, they called you didn't they? You stood out in your application, they want to get to know you a little better. This is already a huge step. I'm sure they didn't call back any more than 10 people.” My mom reassured me, “You’ve been through multiple internships regarding entertainment management, and you have a masters degree from NYU in the field. You're qualified for it, you just have to impress them in the interview. What are you wearing?”
I look down at my outfit, “The black heels I got for that presentation on my thesis, with my go to black dress pants that I usually wear, the baby pink scalloped dress shirt and a black blazer.”
“Is your hair up in a ponytail with the matching pink ribbon?” I touch the ribbon that my dad gave me before a huge presentation my first year at grad school. “Yes, of course Mom.”
“Well you certainly look the part, you didn't do some crazy makeup right, just the professional kind. And- oh, are your tattoos showing.” I roll my eyes, remembering how big of a meltdown both of my parents had over the small tattoos that are spread around my body. “Yes my makeup is professional and no you can't see my tattoos. I'm pretty sure they won't care if I have any, because they all have them so…”
“Well fine, fine, you just know how we feel about those things okay. You're going to be fine, just talk politely and pray before you go in okay.” I subconsciously bring my finger up to my forehead, “And put a cross on your forehead okay? Bye nana.”
“Bye mom,” I sigh, hanging up. I take the airpod out of my ear and back into its case before slipping it into my pink Kate Spade that also matches the color of my top.
“Ms. Kavya Dawson?” A woman calls from the elevator that just opened. I stand up and grab my purse before walking over to her, making sure to keep the sound my heels make to a minimum on the hard vinyl tile.
I get into the elevator and the woman pushes the button to the 36th floor. My breath catches in my throat as the elevator lurches upwards and I feel my palms become damp.
“Well you're awfully different from the applicants we’ve had come up here so far honey,” the woman says, turning and looking at me up and down. I stare at her for a moment, “Oh, oh not because you're a woman, just… you're so young.”
“Oh, um… I guess yeah,” I awkwardly stutter. “I just finished my masters degree so I guess I am pretty young.”
“Oh…” The woman turned back around and an awkward silence filled the air. “Well, are you a fan of this band?”
My cheeks heat up immediately against my will but she doesn't seem to notice. “Well I guess they are very popular amongst my peers and I have heard a few of their songs.” Lie. “So I guess you could say I like their music. Lie. “But I really don't know much about the band members themselves.” Lie number three, strike you're out.
The elevator bell dings, signaling that we made it to the floor. “We’ll I'm sure you're going to do great, have a seat right over here and they’ll come get you in a moment okay?”
I smiled at the woman kindly and took a seat in front of two opaque double doors. My throat was in my heart at this point. The woman's judgment of my age threw me for a heavy loop.
“You're more than qualified.”
“Take your time when you're speaking, they are there to listen to you. You set the pace with them okay?”
My mother and my best friends' voices rang in my ears, slowing my heart rate just the slightest bit. I’ve been in situations like this with less qualifications and preparation time before, and I made it through just fine.
I will be fine
A man opens the opaque doors. He was much older than me, definitely in his mid 40’s wearing a three piece suit that absolutely cost as much as my tuition for grad school. He stared at me for a moment, confused. “Are you here for the interview?”
I stood and nodded at him. He held the door open for me and motioned for me to go in while looking at me up and down, “Good luck with those assholes,” He puffed out.
I was not fine.
I genuinely stopped breathing when I walked in. This wasn't the first time I saw them, but absolutely the first time I saw them up this close.
The room was a pretty normal conference room with giant windows overlooking New York City. Large black leather chairs surrounded a large brown table that 4 boys sat at the end of.
The four boys stood up and walked over to me, holding a hand out.
Firm grip but not too firm
“Good morning, I’m Calum Hood.” He was wearing black slacks with an untucked button up and a loose tie.
“Ashton Irwin, it’s a pleasure,” a button up red velvet shirt that had the first three buttons unbuttoned with black slacks.
“Michael Clifford,” He sported a pair of black ripped jeans and a patterned red and black short sleeve button up. As he held out his arm I saw the iconic tattooed band around his elbow.
“And I’m Luke Hemmings,” A lovely collared short sleeve shirt and khaki pants that hugged his tall body perfectly.
I gulped, “It’s a pleasure to meet all of you, my name is Kavya Dawson.” Luke motioned for me to have a seat at one of the chairs and they walked back to have a seat at their computers.
“Kavya, that’s a lovely name,” Ashton said, “What does it mean?”
“Thank you, it means poetry in motion in Hindi,” I answered, settling down in my seat. I cross my fingers and place them above the desk.
“Fascinating. So Ms. Dawson, tell us a bit about your history, your career, education, anything you would like to let us know.” Luke said, shifting through some papers, presumably my resume.
“Of course, I am a recent graduate from New York University where I received my masters degree in Music Business Management in one year by having extra credits from my bachelors degree and taking large credit hour semesters.” I felt myself run out of breath quickly with how fast I was talking.
Take your time when you're speaking. Blake’s voice once again.
I caught my breath before speaking again, slower, “Before that I received my bachelor's degree in business management from Clemson University in South Carolina. I graduated super early by having a lot of dual enrollment credits from high school, but also because I took large credit hour semesters pretty much every year.”
I tried looking at all of them the same amount of time, without staring at one of them for too long. It was not easy.
“While I was doing my bachelors, I spent one summer in Las Vegas with the Blue Man Group working as a stagehand, and another summer in Los Angeles as a marketing development intern with Primavera Sound Los Angeles.”
I stopped again, collecting my thoughts, making sure to smile at them to make a good impression.
“During my masters I was involved in several internships including ones with Broadway as an event manager and Sirius XM as an intern with the marketing department and another with the management department. I’ve been involved in multiple charities and soup kitchens in every one of the states I’ve interned in as well”
“That's a very impressive list of things you've done Kavya.” Calum stated, peering at me over his glasses. “There are a few things that set you apart from the other people we’ve interviewed so far. Your age. I mean… You're, like, younger than us aren’t you?”
The grip on my fingers turned pale so I pulled my hands back under the desk and straightened my posture. “W-well yes.
Calm down.
“While I am younger than the average applicant for this job, there are a multitude of reasons that it could actually be an asset to this business. For one, if I am to take over this position, you all will have a lot more power in your business.”
They all seemed to perk up at this, raising eyebrows or shifting their positions.
“To elaborate, you four have been running this company by yourselves for the past year, and the company in question wouldn't even exist without you. It only makes sense that it's you four that make the big decisions and you need someone to carry it out for you.”
“With all due respect Kavya, that isn’t in the job description,” Michael finally piped up.
All the air left my body and the room fell to silence for a moment.
“It should be.”
“Excuse me?” Michael responded again.
“The reason for Benjamin Evans' failure was a lack of respect for the people he was working for; you.” Michael relaxed in his chair a little, bringing two fingers to his lips in thought. “You are 5 Seconds of Summer, not your HR, not your management, just you. Your company, your brand should be working for you, not the other way around.”
My cheeks flare up in a bit of anger, remembering the sad lyrics that exposed Evans’ abuses. “I read the lyrics of the leaked song,” The men stared at one another, “You should have never experienced that much pain in something you should love to do.”
“So how would you run things differently?” Michael asked. I took a breath, trying to focus my thoughts yet again. “I would let you guys have far more freedom, financially, and socially. The way you've been running the company the past year can be tweaked to be more to your liking and comfort. I would never ask you to hide who you are as people from your fans or the public. Your relationship can be public as well as your other endeavors. I would never pay paparazzi to find you in order to create a scandal to bring more attention. I would circulate the finances better in order to focus on benefiting the company rather than benefiting myself. We would be able to book more and better venues rather than places that you may feel uncomfortable with, and we would overall be able to be more honest with your fans.”
“I basically want to let you guys do what you want, while keeping your brand successful.”
They sat in silence for a few moments, flicking between looking at me, each other, and the papers with my information in front of them.
“You're 22.” Luke finally spoke after a painful amount of time. “Are you sure you're 22?”
Ashton and Calum giggled quietly, causing me to smile as well, “Yes, I’m sure.”
“This is a very impressive application, and your vision for the band's future is different from anything we've seen thus far.” Ashton said, a smile still on his face, “I do have to say though, I’m not sure it is what we’re looking for.”
My heart plummeted. “We really need to talk about how this would work, given that we are in a very precarious position and we’re not sure how much change we can handle before we drown in our finances.” Ashton continued, “We just really need to talk about it. Please don't think we’re just flat out saying no, that's not the case at all.”
Calum and Luke gave me a reassuring smile, while Michael stacked my papers and put them in a folder.
“We will call you sometime in the next two weeks and we will let you know about your employment status. We will either call to inform you that we will be denying your application or if we need another interview, sounds good? I would say give us 10 days. We will call regardless of whether or not you got the job. It’ll likely be Ashton that calls.” Michael informs me, giving a quick smile, looking at the rest of his bandmates. “Thank you very much Ms. Dawson,” Luke stood and shook my hand again, “Please send in the next person okay?”
I slowly stood up, questions flooding my brain, but I shoved them down. It didn’t work.
I turned to walk out the door as I heard them talk about the next applicant that would be on the other side of the door.
“Oh Kavya, one last question,” I heard Ashton call once again. I spin on my heels a little too quickly, and my pony tail slaps the side of my cheek. “Given your age, I have to ask, are you a fan of us?”
“Oh, um…” I blush furiously, “A little bit yeah, I mean you guys are pretty popular.”
Lie
“That means she's a mega fan, lads,” Luke smirks as the color drains from my face. “W-what? No, I-”
“Have a good day Kavya!” The band laughs as I turn quickly and shut the door behind me.
I stand for a moment facing the door, trying to calm myself down.
I turn around after a moment and come face to face with a man's chest. “O-oh you must be the next applicant,” I stutter out. The man brushes past me and opens the door, pretty much ignoring my existence.
What a dick.
I make my way to the elevator pressing my hands to my cheeks trying to get rid of a bit of the warmth. That was so stressful, scary, exciting, and amazing, all at the same time.
I practically fly out of the building, desperately needing to get to the quiet of my car to fully process the emotions I’m feeling.
The second my phone connects to the car, a familiar melody loudly blasts at me.
And if the skyscrapers tumble down and crash around baby, We just gotta get out, we just gotta get out.
I frantically turn the volume down by pressing and hitting random buttons until it stops.
A little bit of a fan, Kavya, really?

5 Seconds of Summer’s Derp Con: Navigating A Pop-Punk Boy Band Fan Convention
(Maria Sherman, Billboard, 17 Nov 2014)
'For a band often chased around hotels and airports by ravenous fans — that's what happens when you open for One Direction, score a No. 1 album debut and become one of the breakout stars of the year…
Tumblr media
Michael Clifford and Calum Hood of 5 Seconds of Summer perform onstage during the 5 Seconds of Summer tour held at The Forum on November 15, 2014 in Inglewood, California. Michael Tran/FilmMagic
Upon entering 5 Seconds of Summer‘s world, one must come prepared. You need the uniform of knee-high socks and punk rock t-shirts, the earplugs to muffle teen girls’ nearly volcanic wails. You need to let yourself become part of that community and accept the fact that everyone around you is having a ridiculously good time. There’s a high probability that you will, too.
The concept for the Australian pop-punk group’s Derp Con (named such as the 5SOS boys consider themselves awkward, always “derping” around) was lofty. Kids from all around the world would enter contests in their native country through radio and other media platforms, and if they won, they would be flown them out to Los Angeles, put up in a nice hotel and given passes to attend one of the band’s two headlining gigs at the famous Forum. In between: a promised day of debauchery at a mysterious location.
For a band often chased around hotels and airports by ravenous fans — that’s what happens when you open for One Direction, score a No. 1 album debut and become one of the breakout stars of the year as good-looking teenage boys — 5SOS managed to keep Derp Con a secluded event. Billboard and other attendees were told to meet in the lobby of the Andaz Hotel on Sunset Boulevard at 8:45 in the morning on Sunday (Nov. 16), where we’d hitch a ride to… well… somewhere. Below is a minute-by-minute recap of 5 Seconds of Summer’s enthralling fan convention:
8:45 AM – A series of hop-on, hop-off sightseeing buses pull up to the hotel. Apparently, we’ll be riding in style today.
9:00 AM – It takes a few minutes to get everyone on the bus, mostly due to the contest winners’ unrivaled enthusiasm — it’s like attempting to hurdle a group of squirrels. Each bus reflects a variety of countries, and apparently we’re the “Good Girls, Bad Girls” team representing the United States and Australia/New Zealand. I’m told there are 32 countries present and two or three people with each present contest winner, typically a chaperone and a friend.
9:03 AM – When the bus starts moving, it becomes evident that our tour guide was going to show us the 5 Seconds of Summer version of Los Angeles. “‘Pizza’ was performed at the House of Blues, one of 5SOS first shows,” he announces. A girl asks if it is the same venue as the one featured in the Lindsay Lohan version of Freaky Friday.  Spending an hour on the bus with this guy proved he didn’t really know how to handle teen girls, as he made quips like “You might be a little young for this, but have you ever heard of a musician called Sheryl Crow?” and “The only time L.A. is empty is now, on a Sunday morning. All the rock-and-rollers are sleeping off last night’s party.”
9:19 AM – The tour guide makes a James Dean joke. The girls do not know who James Dean is.
9:23 AM – The tour guide makes a Ketchup joke, referring to the dog toy the band had while recording their debut album. He wins them over again.
9:34 AM – The girls gasp and take pictures of a Panda Express. 5 Seconds of Summer loves Panda Express.
10:00 AM – We arrive at our destination: Paramount Pictures. The bus is too tall to fit through the studio’s iconic gate, so we’re forced to circle the grounds.
10:12 AM – As the bus continues taxiing, a group of girls start reworking the lyrics to “English Love Affair” to be about going to Los Angeles and meeting the 5SOS family. One girl, dressed in a fleece penguin costume in 80-degree heat, pulls out a ukelele and starts playing “She Looks So Perfect.” In the crew, there’s a gaggle of Pikachus, skunks, kimonos and kids in school uniforms, vis-a-vis the “Good Girls” music video. There are flags from all over the world being worn as capes. This is the Teen Girl Olympics.
11:12 AM – After a prolonged security wait, we finally enter Paramount, where there’s a red carpet and fake paparazzi cameras flashing around us. A few more steps and the place looks like Comic-Con: there’s a dude in a Spider-Man suit and a mariachi band covering “Don’t Stop.” There’s a DJ competing with him, spinning pop-punk and pop-rock jams from the early 00’s. Jet’s “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” is played more than once.
11:18 AM – The first destination is check-in, where each attendee is handed a map, a schedule and a fake Australian passport. There are six stations in total that the girls are designated to swing by. Little information is given out about each one. Inside, “Derp Rock City,” and various 5SOS-doctored classic rock posters litter the walls.
11:20 AM – Our first station is “Awkward Family Photos,” where the girls get the meet the band. This information isn’t told explicitly — just “Remain calm, one at the time.” The girls figure it out instantaneously and appear as if a fuse has been lit inside their souls.
11:30 AM – They seat us in a room with folding chairs, facing an exposed window. The girls are quiet and confused and then loud. The Australian girl slated to go first starts hyperventilating. Another girl starts crying because she can hear the boys’ muffled laughs in the background.
11:52 AM – They spot the boys in the distance, and explode. Those muffled laughs were just employees.
12:00 PM – Two girls and their mom filter into the room with the band. The mom is now feeding off their energy, shrieking and crying along with them. Luke Hemmings, the heartthrob of the band, tells them they smell nice. He might as well have just given them a million dollars.
12:03 PM – After the girls meet the band and get a photo, the mom comes up to me to tell me her daughter’s fifteenth birthday is in two weeks, and that her family cannot afford a quinceañera. Winning the contest, then, was a godsend. “You probably don’t have kids, but when you do, they become everything,” she starts. “When they’re sad, you’re sad. When they’re happy, you’re happy. I’m just a mom, an average joe. I could never provide this for her. And she’s happy.”

Seeing stuff from a 5sos perspective…. #DERPROCKCITY @5SOS November 16, 2014
12:18 PM – The next station is called “Virtual 5SOS,” where fans get to experience recording with the boys. A group of girls puts on virtual reality goggles and massive noise-canceling headphones to watch a short clip of the dudes rehearsing their song “End Up Here.” When they’re done, the girls turn around and see the same instruments the boys used in the segment. One girl cries, “My butt is where Ashton’s butt was!”
12:23 PM – The Ashton-butt girl declares that she wants to start a band.
12:28 PM – It’s Graffiti Wall time. Much like the ladies of the “Good Girls” video, here the kids get to experience the art of spray paint… virtually, of course. There are screens and can-snapped remotes to direct their hands, and when the attendees are done writing “Michael Marry Me,” they add 5SOS-themed emojis like tongues and logos. At one point I think a girl is trying to be particularly badass and write “hate,” but she was scripting “Haley.” That’s kind of the beauty of this place–it’s all positivity, all of the time. The strong emphasis on technology here really makes it feel like a convention.

Turkey or chicken #DERPROCKCITY @5SOS November 17, 2014
1:00 PM – Lunch break. I help myself to a “Don’t Stop the Derp” adult beverage. At one point, a guy in a Teen Mutant Ninja Turtles costume grabs a drink with me. The food options are pretty teen-friendly: there are two pizza stations, with toppings hand-selected by the boys, and a few of the pizzas have M&M’s, gummy bears and gummy worms on them. I try the vegemite one. It’s not terrible.
1:13 PM – A DJ starts entertaining us with even more 5SOS-picked jams like Foo Fighters’ “Hero” and Green Day’s “Jesus of Suburbia.” Meanwhile, girls are excitedly exchanging Instagram and Twitter handles with each other.
2:00 PM – We walk into a cool dark room with two vintage Capcom arcade games and 5SOS-themed Pac-Man game called “Hungry 5SOS.” A group of girls play on a large LED screen while a crowd watches below.
2:12 PM – The girl who wins “Hungry 5SOS” tells me that she gave guitarist Michael Clifford a Game Boy when she met them — specifically, a Game Boy Advance SP, which was released in 2003 and is now vintage. She represents the generation that entered Green Day’s music at American Idiot and made 5SOS superstars.
2:18 PM – The next station is “Da Green Screen,” where fans get to take props like comically oversized sunglasses and bassist Calum Hood’s signature sombrero and recreate some of their album covers. It’s a sweet idea, but the girls are mostly still discussing the fact that they met the band just two hours earlier.

2:23 PM – We reach what should be our final destination constructed within the confines of the Paramount grounds, the “Hi Or Hey Record Store,” named after the band’s new label Hi Or Hey Records. Upon entering, the girls are handed an exclusive Derp Con EP signed by the band.
2:30 PM – At this point in the afternoon, everyone is exhausted and waiting around, wondering why we’re supposed to stay here until 5:00 PM.
4:00 PM – Another surprise! 5 Seconds of Summer take to a small outdoor stage within Paramount, performing hits like “Out of My Limit,” “Good Girls,” “Amnesia” and “She Looks So Perfect” acoustically for a special set before their Forum gig later that evening. Between the tracks, the boys answer questions written questions submitted by fans. Calum pulls out a card, begins cackling and says, “Is this from my mum? ‘What’s your mum’s favorite food?'” Out of a few hundred questions, the bassist apparently found his mom’s entry. It feels like a fitting metaphor for the band: they’re still kids, after all.'
