hi!!! i’m currently working on a masterpost of thai wlw dramas and movies that i’ve been meaning to post for a really long time so hopefully i will post that soon but i can recommend some of my favourites for now!

condo/barista/architect (i have a soft spot for this show i found it very cute! it is a love triangle but i promise it’s not annoying)

friendzone 2 (if u watch a lot of thai dramas you’ve probably already watched it but if you haven’t cris and amm are honestly the best wlw representation i have ever seen in a thai drama!)

i stories ‘l’ (very short but i think the acting and cinematography really added to the overall quality and made it have the same feel as a full length movie)

love songs love stories: pae jai (personally i thought this was very cute my only criticism is that the story doesn’t develop the romance that much)

quarantine stories: what happened last night? (again it’s short and bc it was filmed during quarantine it all happens over a facetime call but i really enjoyed it!)

shakeshoulder on youtube have a lot of wlw short films and most of them are subbed so that’s a good place to check too!

Some incoherent thoughts about Friend Zone 2

No StudEarth, but otherwise I’m quite happy with the ending. One thing I really appreciated? The writers weren’t obsessed with preserving the status quo this time around like they were in S1. Yes, I’m still mad Boom didn’t end up with Amm’s ex (forgot his name). They were quite lovely together and S1 Tor was a complete asshole. In S2, I liked Tor and Boom a lot better so I’m not mad they’re endgame. Do I think they work well together? Absolutely not. Personalitywise, they’re completely opposite and their values don’t really mesh that well together either. But eh, sometimes that works, if both parties are willing to make compromises. I think they’ll be okay.

ALSO EARTH AND SAM ARE FINALLY OVER and tbh that was the main thing I wanted out of this season. I don’t really think Sam is a horrible person or anything, but he is extremely clueless and kind of self-centered with how he just planned things without Earth and assumed he understood him when he really didn’t? Then again, Earth just kinda went along with it, too... But honestly, it was clear that Earth wasn’t happy and I still don’t understand how Sam didn’t pick up on Earth wanting to break up, even just a bit. Or maybe he did, but you know, denial.

Stud and Ta was kinda meh for me, but Stud seems happy so I’m happy. Plus they tried to go with a more realistic vibe with this season, so StudEarth might have been kinda toxic anyway, at the point they are with their lives right now at least. if we ever get S3 YOU BET I will still be here rooting for StudEarth. I’m just stupid like that.

Also, is it just me or did anyone else kinda get a vibe Stud and Earth mutually decided to friendzone each other...? Ultimate friendzone lmao. Could just be me reading too much into it though. But what Earth said kinda sounded to me like ‘yes, I do kinda like you but it isn’t gonna work so let’s be friends’ (kinda echoing what Boyo said to Good?). Although tbh, sometimes that’s for the best, and a romantic relationship isn’t always even necessarily ‘’more valuable’’ than a good friendship.

I was also surprised, but not necessarily in a bad way, that Good and Boyo weren’t endgame? I was starting to think they might not some episodes ago, but thought that since they were kind of the main couple in S1, surely they wouldn’t really break them up. Sure, it was ambigious as hell and I wouldn’t put it past Boyo to give Good a second chance. But for now at least, they aren’t together and I’m actually kinda glad about it? I actually started rooting for Music and Good instead some time ago lol. They seemed to really click well with each other? Again, still really nice as friends, and it would have been a bit too sudden if they had really gotten together, but... given some time, I feel like they could be really good together.

AND MUSIC. I loved how the writers compeltely subverted the whole ‘bitchy girl who steals other people’s boyfriends’ trope. When she was first introduced I was all ‘oh no, one of THESE CHARACTERS again’ and then they... just never went there with her? Instead she turned out to be one of my favorites this season. She deserves so many good things in her life and I’m glad she got to slap Locker real good lol.

Finally Amm and Cris... well, I was excited there was going to be a wlw couple (FINALLY), but I never really liked Amm much at all so that kinda made care about them less. Loved Cris though! She was the main reason I was looking forward to their scenes. And while we’re on the subject, they got WAY too little screentime. Maybe if they had gotten more, I would have gotten more invested in them. I still just don’t care about Amm though, I’m sorry. She was definitely more interesting in this season though. Really admired how, once she got to terms with liking girls, she wasn’t ashamed about it at all. If I had a girlfriend and took her home and my mother said THAT to me, I would literally crumble. Mad respect to Amm for that.

Overall? Friend Zone 2 was good. I loved the first season, but season 2 was waaaaayyyy better. And the ending was better too, but S1 ending wasn’t that hard to top, really. My only complaint is that it maybe felt a bit rushed? And no StudEarth, but otherwise? Pretty good. I liked how they went with the theme of loving and respecting yourself first of all instead of being obsessed about being in a relationship with someone. Compared to the beginning of S1, the characters have definitely done a lot of growing up lol. I loved the messiness in S1, but S2 was really great in it’s own way. I’m glad they didn’t just end up repeating S1. And I’m glad they didn’t go back to the status quo at least completely, but I already said that lmao.
