Where's the RWBY Naruto au essay. Please you have piqued my curiosity, and now have a mighty need to know.
OK so you know how there are many themes of breaking cycles and not repeating the mistakes of those in the past in Naruto?
Doesn't that ring a bell? In RWBY?
There's two main protags (Naruto and Ruby) whose main thing is never giving up and chasing your dreams even if everything is getting in your way.
Naruto's got Kurama who was seen as a curse placed upon him until he made it his own power! Then, Ruby who was seen as a blessed child for having silver eyes until it comes up that people with silver eyes, despite being seen as mythical warriors, are also persecuted like Maria and Summer were. So, in both cases, they are prodigy children both blessed and cursed with an inmense power that can, will, and has hurt them.
Then, the entire cycle of hatred with the Uchiha being turned into hateful humans just for the sake of power? I think the Faunus could fit that place, not in the same capacity as The Uchiha, but as a separation of those who were born under Indra's and Asura's reincarnations. It isn't a perfect replacement, but I do feel like there's something more there to be explored in there!
Weiss' semblance is hereditary. Kekkei Genkais (or, literally, Bloodline Limit) are hereditary and cannot be taught. Same as Weiss' Gylphs! So I'm thinking that she goes around using her Gylphs as a Kekkei Genkai instead of using jutsus or taijutsu, taking pride on her ability to do so... Until it backfires and her lack of dynamic fighting style gets her into a big mess.
They say that Silver eyes are, as Maria put it, a gift from the God of Light himself. The Jogan is basically the Eye of God. (Insert meme of "I've connected the dots/You didn't connect shit) So I think that Silver Eyed Warriors could either 1) be Jogan users of some sort, with a very, very, VERY nerfed Jogan, or 2) The Silver Eyes is a Doujutsu that EVENTUALLY evolves into the Jougan, like the Byakugan evolves into the Tenseigan.
Now, (SPOILER OF SHIPPUDEN I GUESS. BUT IT'S KINDA BEEN ALMOST 5 YEARS SINCE ITS ENDING SO HUH) know how Kurama was divided inside Minato and Naruto? Now, bear with me... What if it the same thing happened to Yang and Ruby? So, Yang gets the innate strength of being a Jinchiruki and Ruby gets the insane chakra reserves.
And then there are the Chakra Natures! That could be a decent parallel to how RWBY uses Dust in their -verse! Because some people have an affinity or use some kind of dust better (Weiss using Ice more than anything else and Blake being proficient with different kinds of dust through her semblance) and in Naruto someone's Chakra Nature can be subjected to change through nature transformation via learning how to control your chakra well and, well, training. So even though it's not akin to Dust in its entirety, it can work in things such as Nora having Lightning Chakra Nature, Yang having Fire Chakra Nature, and Jaune having Water Chakra Nature.
I think Pyrrha would have mastered 2 Chakra Natures by the time she's a genin, even before the Chuunin exams... Only so she could use Magnet Release lol. She's an olympic prodigy in canon and she trained her ass off to be one, so she deserves it. Same as Blake having Yin Release so she could use Shikamaru's Shadow Imitation Technique and having an easier time splitting her chakra into many Shadow Clones.
I am more than happy to spread the cringe classic anime lover agenda, but to answer more I think I need some specific questions because I could ramble about how both Weiss and Blake fit Sasuke's revenger role but it is almost 6 a.m. and I don't know where to begin with, so if you've got any questions or ideas, feel free to hit my ask box, anon!
