This is not a perfect list; gender and orientation can be much more nuanced than we can represent in a tumblr poll. For instance, you can be aromantic and bi, or you can be not really cis but not consider yourself trans. Please choose the answer that is the closest, and you're welcome to clarify in the tags.
Cis means you identify as the gender you were assigned at birth.
Trans is an umbrella term that means you do not identify with your assigned gender, and includes all genders that are not cis man or cis woman. this includes nonbinary, genderfluid, etc.
Mspec stands for multiple-spectrum and is an umbrella term for anyone who likes more than one gender. this includes bi, pan, omni, poly(sexual/romantic, not referring to polygamous or polyamorous), and many others.
We ask your questions so you don’t have to! Submit your questions to have them posted anonymously as polls.

So in the coming days you’re going to notice that a lot of white people (“allies”) who rightly post constantly and routinely about things like canceling student loan debt, abortion rights, LGBTQ issues, immigration reforms and other glaring social injustices, will suddenly have nothing to say about Affirmative Action being overturned. Not because they haven’t had time to form an opinion, but because they believe in “reverse racism” against white people, and deep down they agree with the ruling. Pay attention. Take mental notes. These people are not our allies. Believe people when they show you who they really are.

I just wanted to say that I love allies who aren't always loud and obvious in their support. I often see the loud and obvious ones being talked about the most but just a huge I love you to the discreet allies.
They are often then ones who make the most difference in my everyday life. The people who talk to me like any other person, who point out that "that'd a weird question to ask" and leave it at that. The ones who ask once if I need help and listen even if the answer is no. The ones who make me feel like a person not a prop to use to make a point. The people who always talk to me and not only the person I'm with. The people who help and then go on with their day, not going on to tell everyone they talk to about how they helped someone in a wheelchair. The ones who just treat me like a person.
It means so much to me that there are people who don't get awkward when they say it's within walking distance or that I can take a seat over there without going on to apologize for 3 minutes. I just really like being able to be a person.

Also idk what parent needs to hear this but with the curriculum changing to reflect bigotry, you'll have to pickup the slack at home.
Not knowing your history and awful education leads to entire countries of people that dont know what communism actually is, never learned about organized workers movements (despite capitalism being the system), and can't recognize fascism when it's staring them in the face.
It's not a coincidence bigots are densely populated in areas with awful education systems. And it's not a coincidence they don't even see it as bigotry.
My kid is 9. She knows about police brutality, classism, and racism and why we fight it. She had to. She's brown kid, poor, and ADHD; naive by nature for the moment and I don't want her being taken advantage of or exploited. It's why she knows about boundaries, saying "no", and listening to herself.
This year during PRIDE she'll learn about stonewall and why we're still fighting for that too. She's old enough to tag along and participate with more understanding so she will. She's learned about bodily autonomy and women's rights as well. And she's learned about having a healthy relationship with nature; to respect the critters, plants, water, and climate.
Protest and fighting and standing up for yourself and your rights and being a good ally are all family values in my house. And if the school won't teach that to her then it's on me, just like it's on all of us.
And no, she doesn't know or understand enough to have a whole debate but she's 9. There's still so much time to teach her more. But she understands the basics and for kids, it really doesn't need to be more complicated than that because she's just interacting with other kids.
I taught her about police & homophobia in 2020 as soon as I got her back from her homophobic dad. She was 6.
It was as easy as "But I'm a gay people too & when you say theyre gross that hurts my feelings. Do you have to think what your dad thinks?"
Giving her the freedom to make that choice herself, to disagree, and grow out of it and end that association with "gross" was the best thing I could've done for her. Cuz guess who told me she might like boys and girls 3 years later?
Those many tiny talks over time could've saved her from decades of shame induced trauma.
Our kids deserve everything. And they deserve better. We must teach them that and we need to teach them to fight for it. Teach them what to fight against.
They aren't too young. Give them more credit. "Think of the children" by educating yours.

I don't know who needs to hear this today, but in order to be a good ally, you have got to be open to the idea that you can be bigoted. You. You specifically.
You have to be open to hearing "you are being bigoted right now" and changing if you actually are.
So many allies mean really well and are great at being allies, but still have misinformed opinions or internalized bigotry.
To be a good ally, you have to be willing to accept that you can be unintentionally harmful, no matter how educated you are. No matter how well you mean.
You have to be willing to step back and examine yourself instead of just reacting with, "no I'm not X. I support X. I'm an ally."

While Canadians broadly support LGBTQ2S+ people and issues, they are less likely the engage in behaviours that show true allyship for the community, new polling conducted for Global News has found.
The majority of Canadians – 78 per cent – believe transgender people should be protected from discrimination in employment, housing and access to businesses. Seventy-four per cent believe that same-sex couples should have the same rights to adopt children as straight couples. However, the latest polling, conducted by Ipsos, found only a dismal one-in-10 consider themselves to be an active ally to the queer community.
Just under half (47 per cent) of Canadians express some degree of support, either in that they consider themselves active allies and/or engaged members of the community (10 per cent) or that they support the LGBTQ2S+ community, but do not actively engage in allyship (37 per cent).

Hi all, thank you SO MUCH for staying tuned! 💜 I know we haven't been as active as usual on this account, but even though life has gotten extremely busy, we still have been planning behind the scenes, and monitoring all the news in the Ace community. 💖
