So, I started a Devi in Wonderland piece a couple of years ago, but all that time passed without me designing half the characters so I felt like drawing model sheets as an attempt to finish that other piece.

The story behind it was Devi and Tenna were going to a halloween party and fell down a hole into this trash pile lol. I had Nny's White Rabbit design down since i started but I just came up with his Hatter and Red Queen designs when i drew these. Figured since this was Devi's Wonderland, Johnny would be in it a lot more, then again don't ask how she'd know all of his voices... or Edgar. But anyway i really like these.

Twisted Wonderland- Flight Contest

[Card]

"Alright, students! It's time to test your abilities on the broom again!" Coach Vargas shouts fanatically. "Grab yourself a broom and fly higher than last time!"

Everyone lines up to grab a broom and ready themselves before flying up in the air. Alice and Grim walk over to Vargas to retreat their personal brooms for the lesson. Grim grips the smaller size in his paws and scampers off to join Ace and Deuce as she calms her nerves and tightens her grip on the handle.

She stands with her group and ready herself to fly up with them, all four of them struggling to keep their balance. Her feet leave the ground and slowly rise up in the air, focusing on her balance and calmness.

Ace and Deuce's brooms climbs to a higher height before, but not by much. Grim and Alice are still close to the ground which Ace instantly teases them for. Deuce defends her by pointing out the fact riding brooms isn't a thing in her world and will need more time to grow comfortable. Ace doesn't care and continues his teasing while Grim boils in annoyance.

The creature tries to fly higher than Ace, but the goal is a tougher than he thought. She drops down and plants her feet back on the ground, looking to the three continuing the lesson. Vargas comes over and tells her to not stop for she hasn't finished today's lesson.

"I can't do it, Coach Vargas. I'm too scared of falling and the height itself."

"Don't worry about falling, there's a magic net on the field in case of unfortunate rowdiness," he confidently speaks.

Her head rises slightly in surprise. "There's a net?"

"Of course! We can't have beginners having a nasty fall! Now, get back on your broom and show Trappola how it's done!" He gives her a smack on the back.

The wind gets knock of her and takes a moment to breathe before sitting on the broom again and flying up. She inhales deeply, hearing Ace taunting her, and reminds herself there's a net. She slowly mentally commands the magical broom Vargas made for her and rises, passing Grim, Deuce and coming face to face with Ace.

"You were saying, Ace?" She smugly responds.

He annoyingly frowns. "You only got up here after getting a prep talk from Vargas." He smirks. "I bet you can't go higher than me." He rises his broom higher.

Deuce joins up with her and comments about teaching Ace a lesson. She nods and both of them climb to greet the redhead. She asks Deuce to keep talking to her attention on him and not the ground. He gladly helps and chats about whatever on his mind.

The two meet up with Ace and tease him back. He furls his brows and thinks up another challenge, switching position on the broom and daring them to do the same. Deuce shouts to not be reckless as she looks at her broom.

The ground is clearly far from where she is and feels her nerves screaming to go back to the surface before something happens. She knows she shouldn't bully a child, but that child is rude.

She moves her leg to side seat the broom and tries to keep her eyes on the handle instead of the ground, her heart pounding against her ribcage. She sits herself properly and turns her head to look at Ace, just to fall backwards. Her legs hook around the handle and hangs upsidedown in the sky.

Both boys yell and guide their brooms under her to help her sit up. Deuce scolds Ace for suggesting such a thing as Ace annoyingly frowns at how right the blue haired boy is. She thinks to herself and decides to put her arms behind her head and look at Ace.

"Bet you can't fly upsidedown." She floats away and descends to the field.

Her body lies flatly on the grass, calming her heart from her soul almost leaving her body. Vargas leans over her, praising the improvement she made today. She frowns at the loud booming voice.

The class come down to get told how much they improved. Vargas shows disappointment in Grim from barely making any improvement, then praises Ace and Deuce for the high they both reached. However, he lectures Trappola for challenging an inexperienced student and almost causing them to fall.

She comes over and gets glares from Ace and Grim. The redhead calls her a showoff and the creature shouts how she upstaged him. Deuce sighs at the two and looks over to her to see her smirking.

"You started it, Ace. If you didn't want me to show how better I am than you, don't pick a battle you can't win."

"Excuse me?! You gave up before I challenged you. You wouldn't have gotten that high if it wasn't for me motivating you."

"Motivating?" Her face sours. "Yeah, insulting a person is motivating," she flatly responds with a hint of annoyance.

Ace smirks confidently. "I wouldn't say it was insults, but it convinced you to meet me up there."

"And outshine you." He instantly frowns at the comment.

Grim complains about his score and how his hench human did better than him. She tells him again she's not his henchman. Deuce nips the upcoming argument from the roots and recommends getting a snack.

The three realize their growling stomachs and agree in union. The group walk back to the school and inside the locker room. Alice splits off to the coach's office to retreat her uniform and dash into the public bathroom to change, then tosses the P.E. clothes in the locker and slips the key in her bookbag.

She waits by the doors to the hallway with Grim and searches through her bag for a possible snack, unsure if she packed one. The creature's stomach growls, demanding food to silence it.

"Stop yelling, I don't know if I have anything."

"Then let's buy something from vending machine." He lifts his arms.

"I didn't bring money with me to school. I want every leftover cash we have to be saved for emergencies."

"My empty stomach is an emergency!"

She blankly stares at him. "No it isn't."

The boys exit and approaches the two, entering the hallway together while chatting. She finds a mango bread and demands Grim ask nicely if he truly wants it.

Riddle Info Compilation part 31: Riddle and Sebek

Riddle’s first impression of Sebek was favorable: Sebek impressed him with his insistence on proper conduct during ceremonies, and Riddle calls him the “one sensible head” in the 1st-year class.

Riddle’s opinion of Sebek changes quickly upon meeting him.

Sebek accuses him of being a spy sent to “uncover Diasomnia’s deepest secrets” and Riddle reflects on how he mistakenly believed Sebek to be a man of diligence and decorum, saying, “like all other Diasomnia students your well-mannered facade belies your supercilious nature.”

Riddle insists upon Sebek adhering to the ideology of the equestrian club if he is to join, emphasizing that theirs is a dangerous sport where the slightest error in judgment can invite a disastrous accident. Sebek vows to obey any orders “within reason,” but insists upon judging the skills of the other club members.

Riddle demostrates with “Vorpal,” who seems to be his preferred horse (and is also the name of the sword that slayed the Jabberwocky in Alice in Wonderland?)

Sebek describes Riddle's posture as “flawless” as he clears a triple bar and Silver explains that Riddle “has trained relentlessly to achieve perfect riding technique. He is even more skilled than I am in terms of his handling finesse. In fact, competing with him has helped me push many of my own skills to new heights.”

After watching Riddle’s demonstration, Sebek immediately submits his application to the club.

During Fairy Gala IF Sebek staunchly refuses to give anyone any help with the fairies (despite how much he suffers in cold temperatures) and Riddle reflects, “His stubbornness is a headache even at club meetings.”

Sebek may be the only non-Heartslabyul student on the main cast whom we have seen Riddle collar (outside of Leona and Grim).

He tells Sebek to consider it a learning opportunity, so that he might be taught how to behave towards those who are not in Diasomnia.

During a club recruitment event Ruggie describes Riddle as the top student in his year, saying that he can give everyone plenty of lessons on horseback riding and proper manners.

We see Riddle correcting Sebek’s habit of referring to every non-fae entity as “human."

Sebek is happy to ally with Riddle during Spectral Soiree in a rage-filled response to a letter being left behind at Ramshackle, inviting them to a Halloween party.

Riddle is as strict with Sebek as he is with anyone, refusing to excuse Sebek from Vargas Camp despite his reluctance to be apart from Malleus for three days.

Riddle says he is impressed with Sebek’s motivation (where Malleus is concerned) during the event, but he is less than fond of Sebek’s booming voice.

Both Riddle and Silver fall asleep during their turn to guard the campfire from fairies, much to Sebek’s annoyance.

Sebek insists that Riddle return to his tent and rest instead of forcing himself to stay awake, and that he take Silver along with him.

Riddle expresses annoyance with Sebek’s recklessness during the event, but compliments him on scaling a cliff for the sake of picking a flower.

In return Sebek compliments Riddle’s potion-brewing prowess, but in such a condescending way that Riddle says he can never tell when Sebek is being sincere and when he’s mocking him.

Riddle cautions Sebek’s condescending tone again later on, interrupting an argument between Sebek and another Equestrian club member after an early Vargas Monster attack.

Riddle sacrifices himself to the Vargas Monster in order to save Sebek, much to Sebek’s confusion: he shifts between shock and annoyance, saying Riddle’s assistance was “unneeded and unwanted.”

When Ruggie suggests that they work out a plan for at least one of them to survive the night Sebek insists that he cannot leave Riddle to his fate but quickly follows up with how he cannot turn his back on ANY enemy, due to his status as Malleus’ guard.

At the end of the event Riddle thanks Sebek for sparing the equestrian club from disbandment, and Sebek thanks Riddle for saving him by saying that what he did “was also worthy of merit, as far as human deeds go.”

Riddle says he still cannot tell when Sebek is being sincere, and Silver says it would be nice if Sebek could be as forthright with everyone was he is with Riddle.

Riddle does not, however, believe Sebek’s story of a monster in the mine, assuring him that fending off wild boars is also an impressive feat, if that is what the “monster” actually was, so he should be proud.

Thoughts:

If you liked Olivia Atwater's Regency Faerie Tales, definitely give The Witchwood Knot a try. It had a lot of the same magic.

When the Game Was War filled the void left by Winning Time. These tales of the magic of 80s basketball align with the one time in my life I had interest in the sport. It has been fun revisiting that time, and WTGWW provided a nice deep dive into elements and players that Winning Time was unable to explore in its short run.
