soooo shadow travel.
Canonically, Hecates kids can pull a shadow traveler off course pretty easily as shadow-travel is a type of magic.
Tumblr media
Hylla shrugged. 'Shadow-travel is magic. Several of my followers are daughters of Hecate. It was a simple enough matter for them to pull you off course, especially since you and I share a connection." Reyna tried to keep her anger in check. Hylla, of all people, should know how she would feel about being dragged back to Puerto Rico.
With that information I would like to offer you Lou Ellen fucking with Nicos shadow travel to piss him off. anyways
Hecate can shadow travel as well
Tumblr media
Shadow Travel: Hecate can use shadows as a way of swift transportation over vast distances
On the wiki for shadow travel,
Tumblr media
Deities such as Hecate, Persephone, or Hermes can enter or leave the Underworld at will. Hence, their demigod children can probably shadow travel as well, if trained properly.
This actually opens up...a lot of doors? Children of Hecate and Hermes may have the ability to shadow travel? It would be a lesser extent then Nico and Hazel, and it would definitely take longer to learn and control but like?? THATS SO COOL??

Storytelling and Storytime is a weekly tradition for the Hermes Cabin at CHB. The cabin gathers around each other to swap stories, camp and school highlights, and some harmless jokes.
With the younger kids who may be homesick or stressed, the older kids take turns reading out loud to them before bed. Some cabin favorites are The Giving Tree and Where the Wild Things Are.

The 3Heads a diner run by the Pecks was one of the very few diners in the city open 24/7 no matter the weather conditions. The diner was open even under the holidays.
Sylvia, the youngest grand daughter of the owner, was happy about all of that, especially since she was allowed to decorate the space however she liked: on Halloween she gave her best if not more, this one being her favourite and the costumers loved the hanging spiders' webs and the skeletons having a bite with them and the owners loved the masked costumers-the second year since they were out for business they decided to inaugurate a contest for best Halloween costume and everyone loved it so much- the staff came to work dressed up as well; on Thanksgiving the atmosphere was more chill, with less decorations that excpected but the one not used for that holiday were soon going to be put out for Christmas.
Zackary, the older grand son of the owner, and Sylvia's brother, he noticed how many people were alone during Christmas, it was sad to witness young people spending such a jolly holiday, he wished for every single one of them to find a new family to spend that time of the year together. Some did, coming the next year with a partner, or their family; others didn't.
Than it was time for San Valentine, the sweetest holiday of them all, well on an equal footing with Halloween, but still. The diner turned from all green and red to pink. Hearts, flowers and ballons filled the diner and every now and then the owners were able to assist, and record, a couple of proposals.
It was before Easter, a couple of weeks prior to the festivity. A Saturday late night, maybe around 1 am or 2 when Sylvia welcomed inside a boy. The girl noticed he was exhausted, she had a thought that the boy had walked for a long time, how much to be exact she didn't know but again, the phylosophy of the diner was to not ask or assume.
She welcomed him in, a big smile on her face despise the late hour, he looked at her, for a second before turning around and scanning the space as in search of somewhere to hide.
"We have a couple of booths away from the entrance" she explained.
"No windows?" he simply asked.
"No windows" she repeated after him. The boy nodded and she asked him to follow her with a simple movement of her arm. When she had left him take a seat, the boys asked if they had something blue. Sylvia had to ask for some explanation here because what did he meant by something blue?
"I am craving blue food" he answered, which didn't help much but the girl knew how to deal with such reqeusts.
"I see what I can do." this was the magic formula to avoid conflict and with that she left the menu on the table and went straigh into the kitchen. "weird question but, do we have blue food coloring?" her older brother looked at her weird, as if she just asked him to take out from his pocket a monkey or something of that sort. "Ehy don't look at me like that. The kid asked for blue food." she defended herself. Her brother rolled his eyes and went to search for it.
"By the way do you know what he wants?" Sylvia was silent, she didn't ask. I mean the poor girl just got asked if they had blue food, the only think on her mind was if they could provide that for him and gain a new costumer or not a loose a potential costumer. "go ask him."
And so she did, and when she was back to the table he left the guy, she noticed he was sleeping, or on the verge of doing so. She pocked him, carefully, sure he was there to eat but if he fell asleep in the worst position ever that meant he was really worn out (?)
She pocked him again, a little harder this time and the poor kid jumped out of his skin taking out of his pocket a stabilo pen, using the object as a weapon as a fit to cause her arm.
"Sorry, I forgot to ask what would you like to eat."
"I don't really know, I just would like if it was blue."
"Okay, I'll tell that to our chef and see if we can meet your request. Anything to drink while you wait?"
Percy Jackson, Sylvia learned his name, became a regular at The 3Heads and after the second month-he passed by at least every single day to grab his usual to go, and once a week he took his sweet time by sitting and enoying his meal- he came in, the Pecks decided to add a special section of their menu and what best way to show it to him?
Percy walked in, followed by his two friends, Grover and Annabeth, with a quick hello went straight to his usual seat and then relaxed resting his head on the table. Annabeth was fast scolding him, it wasn't very polite to sleep in a diner but before Percy could explain, Sylvia was ready to give Percy that good news.
"Hello." she greeted the two new costumers. "Ohy sleepy head I have some news." she looked at the blonde girl and asked if it was okay for her to seat for a moment, when she nodded Sylvia sat down. "Perseus Jackson listen to me" his head was up in a second, the mention of his real name didn't scare him for once but only put him in listening mode. "I have, I mean the entire family has a surprise for you." Percy looked behind the girl and saw her brother, dad and grand father looking at him with anticipation. "read the menu" and so he did.
The first pages weren't any different, just a couple of new dishes nothing major really but then his eyes widened when he read the title of the section thet added 'Blue Food&Drinks'
"We have to find a new title for the section and we wanted..." she got cut off by the boy.
"Who's idea was that?" she smiled.
"Zachary joked about the fact we had to add it since you are basically living off of our food, dad thought it wasn't such a bad idea. Grandpa was the thoughtes to..." and once again Sylvia couldn't end her speech due to Percy hugging her out of nowhere with a soft thank you.
He then went to hug the rest of the Pecks and thanking them, he couldn't believe it. He never thought that complete strangers were going to do something this nice and sweet for him.
"Okay, why is Percy acting like a kid on Christams?"asked the boy. Sylvia just smiled and told him to check the menu. He started reading under his breath not understanding much about what was happening untill... "wow he comes here this often?"
"What? What is it?" said the blonde girl next to Sylvia and the menu was given to her, she smiled. "He comes here that often for sure. Thank you, you gained a loyal costumer and he is never going to stop talking about it. I am pretty sure the other campers will come here too." The Pecks knew about the summer camp not that away from the city, Percy had talked to them about it some weeks after he discovered the diner.
After that, Percy came in with always new people and the first think he showed them was the section about the blue food, picking for them his favorites and sharing new ideas with the cooks of the diner even because the blue food was becoming to be a trend. Kids asked their parents to take pictures of it; teens loved it and also felt the need to have it to fit into a new society that was head over heals for it; elder people just wanted to have some fun and try something out of the ordinary because who could have thought they could have a smoothie with blue cookies? Not them.
Time passed and The 3Heads had campers from "Camp Half-blood" almost on a daily, they became like a very extended family and good friends. They celebrated their birthdays there, went on dates there or just went and between one bite and the other played Mythomagic, similar to a game of Yu-Gi-Oh! but with mythological creatures. Sylvia did played a couple of rounds while on a break.
Time had passed since that first night when Percy Jackson walked into the diner and since then Sylvia and Zachary made good friends with the campers, everyone had their favorite kid but Percy? He was the number one for them. He was funny, sarcastic, intelligent on his own, witty and so much more. He sure was stubborn but one of the nicest kid the older Pecks have ever met in their life.
It was the day of Percy Jackson's birthday, in 2009, that the Percks closed the doors of The 3Heads for the first time in their life because how can you keep a diner open when a bunch of teens come to you bruised and injured, whith a face that read 'we lost someone' all over their faces?
Sylvia, Zackary, Colto and Taddeus Peck didn't asks question because this was their phylosophy of work, and whoever walked into that doors had a chance to choose either tell their story or not, and that night campers that have seen death, fought her and won decided it wasn't the time to tell the story of what did happen.

all my life i've been so lonely all in the name of being holy (and still, you'd like to think you own me)
Valentina Diaz is a lot of things to a lot of people, but none of those are her own; those are all false facets of an imaginary person that Valentina never could and never will be. Or: five words others think of Valentina as, and her own opinion in that matter.
read on ao3!
trigger warnings: none
One
If there's one word to describe Valentina Diaz, it's unforgettable, Alex thinks. She is a tempest; a tempest of which stormed into his heart two months ago and broke it today.
He can still smell her perfume on the edges of his apartment; it seems to linger even though Valentina herself is long gone. The perfume smells of honeysuckle and hope, hope she seems to forget to inspire.
Oh, well. Valentina dated Alex for two months and he is not surprised. His friends had all warned him, a slough of "she only dates people for a maximum of three months" and "she's going to break your heart". He would just be another in her long line of exes, they said, and they were right.
Oh, well.
Alex likes fun, and Valentina was fun. It wasn't serious, she didn't even really break his heart. But she sort of did all the same, like a good memory that, in the light of its passing, renders it more sad.
But he still wasn't sure how he would move on, if he ever would completely. Stuck in heartbreak while also having moved on long ago, a strange limbo that Alex couldn't seem to shake no matter what he tried.
But for some reason, Alex didn't care. Bittersweet as it was, Valentina Diaz is not someone Alex would ever want to forget, or go back before they dated.
It was weird, but perfectly natural at the same time.
After all, if there's one word to describe Valentina Diaz, it's unforgettable.
«»
Two
If there's one word to describe Valentina Diaz, it's shallow. Piper's never found her sister to be all that interesting or deep, she just seemed to care for nothing but boys and breaking their hearts.
Well, most of Piper's siblings are like that. They don't care about people, they care about things. Material over emotional. Which is why Piper cannot stand her siblings. They're terrible, terrible people, only seeming to care about pink and love and dating and not the actual people behind them.
They're so fake, Valentina most of all. Because she pretends to care, even when everyone knows she very much does not. At least Drew has the decency to embrace how terrible she is.
Valentina pretends to care. She breaks heart after heart, all boys and girls who don't know what they're in for when it comes to Valentina Diaz.
And Valentina Diaz is a terrible, terrible person. She breaks hearts without remorse, she cares for nothing but the jewels adorning her neck and ears, she wouldn't know true love if it hit her upside down in the head.
Valentina Diaz hates Silena Beauregard just as much as Drew, too. Piper may have never met Silena, but she was a hero. That's what everyone says, except for the Aphrodite Cabin.
Honestly, Piper doesn't know how they can do that. How they can hate someone who clearly isn't in the wrong.
But, if Piper's being honest, she doesn't really care to know her siblings, and neither do they care to know her. Because her siblings are terrible, terrible people, and Piper most definitely is not.
Because at least Piper has the decency to care.
And just like every other one of Piper's siblings, the one word to describe Valentina Diaz is shallow.
«»
Three
If there's one word to describe Valentina Diaz, it is disagreeable. Adelita Diaz has find her cousin to be all too self-important.
Because something changed about Valentina Diaz when she was fourteen. Because Valentina Diaz holds herself like someone who has no experience with things, because Valentina speaks like someone tired with fate. What could she ever feel tired of?
Sure, Valentina’s mother is long-dead or long-gone - everyone around them talks too much about unimportant things and too little about important things when it comes to the mysterious woman who is Valentina’s mother - and Adelita doesn’t care much to listen, either.
Valentina Diaz has never been much of a concern to Adelita Diaz, yet Valentina bothers her all the same. Valentina goes through boyfriends (and girlfriends and partners in general) as fast as Adelita goes through books.
Which is to say, all too quickly.
But besides that, Adelita has never quite known how to act around Valentina. Sure, they're cousins, but Valentina changes like the fall winds. When Adelita thinks she has Valentina down - like she did until they were both fourteen - and then Valentina changes radically, and suddenly Adelita's blindsided by her cousin's changing. And then Adelita gets used to the new Valentina, and suddenly Valentina goes back to Old Valentina with the flighty dating, and then Valentina changes once more.
Valentina changes like the fall winds, and she doesn't slow down enough for Adelita to catch up.
And that's it, Adelita would say. Valentina is a cacophony that changes meter every few seconds. Adelita can never understand her cousin; Adelita can never sympathize with her cousin.
And because of that, the one word to describe Valentina Diaz is disagreeable.
«»
Four
If there's one word to describe Valentina Diaz, it is flaming. After all. Alice Miyazawa has always loved her best friend. Valentina is a tempest, a heartbreaker, but she's also fun. Just what Alice wants in a best friend.
Valentina isn't like Drew with a heart of snow; her heart is made of fire instead, burning and warming all the same. All that Alice wants for a best friend.
The boys she falls in love with only to fall out of love soon enough are just trees in a grand forest she rages in; Alice is not a tree. She is a person warming themselves by a hearth-fire after a cold night; Alice sees the life under the fire that Valentina is.
Fire is Valentina, Alice muses. Nothing more, nothing less.
Alice loves Valentina because she's fun, because although she may be flighty and may be careless with others' hearts, she'll never be careless with Alice's. Valentina will never be careless with her friends' hearts.
And Alice is Valentina's friend.
So the next time Alice gets broken up with someone, she'll sit on Valentina's couch with her friend and cry over ice cream and the best hot chocolate ever - because Valentina always makes excellent hot chocolate.
(Seriously. Is it an Aphrodite thing or is Valentina just that good at hot chocolate of all things?)
But there's no way in Hades that Alice would ever tell one of her friends to date Valentina. There's not way in Hades that Alice would ever set Valentina up with someone.
Because she doesn't want her friends to get their heart broken.
After all, through thick and thin, the one word to describe Valentina Diaz is flaming.
«»
Five
If there is one word to describe Valentina, it is unshakeable. Lacy admires her sister more than she'll ever tell.
Valentina, who can easily come back from everything. Valentina, who bounces back from tragedy and becomes their shoulder to cry on.
Lacy can rely on Valentina like no one else.
Because at least Valentina won't betray them like Silena did. Because at least Valentina won't twist her love into cruelty like Drew. Because at least Valentina won't expect them to be people they aren't like Piper. Because at least Valentina cares enough to leave her mask on and keep them safe.
Valentina has always been Lacy's favourite sibling. She's the person who taught Lacy how to apply makeup, how to select her outfits. Lacy has always looked like a doll, one of those creepy dolls that haunt suburban Southern homes, but Valentina tells her it makes her beautiful, tells her to lean into it.
And so Lacy does. And Lacy can rely on Valentina.
It's a few days after the Titan War. Valentina smiled at her through the mirror, raising her dagger up to apply her eyeliner. Lacy copied that motion, and it's messy, but Valentina smiled even more, and gently helped Lacy to get it right.
Lacy's young, they all are. But being part of the Aphrodite Cabin means something. It means something more than what it should. It means a certain responsibility, a certain awareness of her body that no thirteen-year-old should have. It's a silent obligation they all have. And Valentina bears it best, somehow. Valentina can carry the rest of them to a home they will never have.
They don't talk about it, but Drew once remarked something that they all know too dearly: beautiful women have unhappy fates. Lacy supposes it applies to everybody.
But it never seems to affect Valentina all that much.
And because of that, the best word to describe Valentina Diaz is unshakeable
«»
+ One
Valentina does not know who she is.
She feels terrible for breaking so many hearts. Alex was the most recent. She feels like she has to warm her friends. Like Alice. She feels like she has to portray a mask. Even to Piper, her sister. She feels like she has to be more mature. Like with Adelita and Lacy.
Romantic relationships are so easy, Valentina thinks. In romantic relationships, she doesn't have to be committed. She can casually date. Alex knew what was going to happen. He knew what he was getting into. Friendships are worse, family is worse.
With Alice, she never feels truly like herself. Alice sees what she wants, and she sees the Valentina as her best friend. Best friend is a scary term; it never seems to mean what people think it should. Best friend means too much. It sets Alice apart. Valentina doesn't do close relationships. So she'll make Alice her hot chocolate and don the mask of Alice's Best Friend, and it's so different from Valentina's Daughter of Aphrodite mask, and Valentina's Good Older Sister mask, and Valentina's Indifferent Beauty mask.
She shows so many people masks. All she is is masks, buried over and over and over each other, not a single one showing who she is.
She is a jewel, facets upon facets of equally beautiful, equally wanted. They are facets owned by many and owned by few, but none of those facets are owned by Valentina.
She wants to be rough, a diamond uncut. She wants to be coal, messy and dirty and being everywhere possible. She wants to be obsidian, strong and unshakeable.
She is her masks, her masks are her, but they are not everything. Valentina has never been anything but her masks.
She knows all her ex-boyfriends and most people at camp - including Piper, her own sister - see the Daughter of Aphrodite mask, or the Indifferent Beauty mask, depending on how well they know her. Alice sees Alice's Best Friend mask, and so does Julia, Alice's other best friend who doesn't like Valentina all that much. Oh well. And Valentina knows her half-siblings except Piper see the Good Older Sister mask.
And they are her masks, and nothing more. Valentina has never been anything but her masks.
So, if you asked Valentina, and she was being truthful, she would say that she does not know who she is.

@p-bubblegum @rubies-nightinga1e @housecatdahousecat and @celtic-sword requested elaborations on this post
Buckle up bc this is going to be a long one (no seriously this is so long I probably should have made this more than one part) and I combine some explanations so not every bullet has one
- The version of Artemis in featured in the series is one of the most manipulative and selfish gods we see in any of the books
My example for this one will be the lovely Bianca di Angelo, because I think she is the most complicated example of this and then I will connect what I think are the more blatant examples.
Bianca was sent into the entire world of the gods blind. This isn’t odd, all of the characters are shown to either be raised to know about the gods and what life will be like as a demigod or they are drop kicked into this world when a monster tries to murder then. The di Angelos experienced the latter.
The thing about Bianca is that she joined the hunters after only like twenty minutes of knowing them. A twelve year old girl who just experienced one of the most traumatic things to have ever happen to her is in no position to be making major life decisions. Artemis (Percy Jackson Artemis only, in most myths she is wonderful) is SO MANIPULATIVE.
All of the other major choices Bianca is shown to make or have made in the past portray her as a very maternal and responsible person. She has taken care of Nico for years, she accepted the quest immediately when asked because she thought it would help people, she was willing to die for her mistake in the scrapyard, HER JOINING THE HUNTERS AND LEAVING NICO ALONE JUST SEEMS SO OUT OF CHARACTER.
Personally, I blame Artemis completely. There is no way that Bianca could have been given a proper explanation of the hunters in the time she was with them. I just don’t believe it. All the information we know for sure that Bianca knows is that the hunters are conditionally immortal, they are all girls around the same age as Bianca or younger (Zoe is described to be the physically oldest there and she is only like fourteen), the hunters go after monsters, and they have a cabin at camp. I think that the cabin is the main piece of information that causes problems because when Bianca tells Nico she is a hunter she tells him they will still see each other often, meaning she is unaware of how the hunters actually work and how little they actually stay at camp half blood.
BIANCA DIDNT REALIZE THE EXTENT THAT SHE WAS LEAVING NICO AND NO ONE CORRECTED HER
Another reason I blame Artemis and not Bianca is be ARTEMIS IS A GODDESS. Bianca just met a goddess who saved her life. She is a terrified twelve year old. Was she just supposed to say no??? to an all powerful goddess she knows nothing about other than she just saved her life??
Bianca just watched a monster who looked like a trusted teacher tackle a girl barely older than herself off a cliff and vanish. She was probably in the most terrified state she had ever been in and Artemis just jumps in to make her a hunter (it also bothers me that all three girls in PJO we see become hunters, those girls being Zoe, Bianca, and Thalia, are all very young girls who join almost immediately after going through something awful, Zoe being betrayed by Hercules and Thalia being told that she either had to join the hunters or become the prophecy kid after she thought she just killed her childhood best friend, with no time truly think about their decision). Then Bianca was chosen by an authority figure she trusted to go on a quest that she didn’t understand with no training where she died.
Bianca was killed because those around her failed to teach her about being a halfblood and Artemis manipulated her by using power and fear against her so that she would join the hunters. I’m willing to bet that a lot of other demigod kids died for those same reasons.
- Luke can be blamed for a lot of things but starting a child army is not one of them, he didn’t create a child army he stole Chiron’s
I’m not going to get into all of my thoughts about what Luke does in the series bc we do not have time for that, so I’m going to explain what he didn’t do. He did not start a child army. The titan army was in part a child army, it was also a monster and god army, but there were a lot of child soldiers.
However, Luke was not the one to create an child army, Chiron did that. Camp Half-Blood is not as obvious as Camp Jupiter with the child army thing, but Chiron is known to train “heroes”. In pjo the gods are well aware that a war is coming and none of them try to stop it. Chiron is also aware that a war is coming, so the “heroes” he’s training are children he’s knowingly preparing for war.
Luke’s army is made from campers who defected from Chiron’s army, so Luke can’t be blamed for starting a child army, just for leading one, because that army is just made up of Chiron’s child soldiers.
- on that note Chiron sucks
- his favoritism and him ignoring the mental health of the campers is why the second titan war got as bad as it did
- It’s also the reason that Nico suffered as much as he did
Chiron has favorites. This is shown in the way that he personally advises some of the main characters (Percy and Annabeth) but others are left ignored. Not that this is referenced within the books bc Percy is the narrator and as a favorite who is only a seasonal camper, he is not in a position to recognize the favoritism. He also only trains a select few of them, Luke and other head counselors were the ones training kids. Now I understand that Chiron is only one person so he can’t train everyyone, but that’s just even more proof that the kids he trains are his favorites. As for ignoring the mental health of his campers, it is obvious that campers are not getting the help they need because of the actions they take throughout the series. (He locked Chris Rodriguez in a basement while he was having a mental break and a fouteen year old Clarisse was the one who looked after him, I think that says a lot)
My examples for this will be Nico and Luke bc I think they are the most extreme cases of this. When Bianca dies, Nico, a highly powerful, grieving, suicidal, ELEVEN YEAR OLD is homeless for an entire YEAR. Chiron never went looking for him, never provided him with healthy ways to grieve, and was more concerned with Nico being a child of Hades than he was with Nico being a hurting child who he was responsible for. Chiron never even helped to make him feel included at camp after the second titan war which made him run away again. Similarly, he never helped Luke through the grieving process. It was made clear in the books that, leading up to his betrayal (especially after his quest) Luke was not acting normal. Chiron never checked on him or tried to help him. Chiron was aware that there was a war coming and never thought to check on the campers who were very obviously not coping well mentally.
Imagine if you were Nico or Luke and the person you cared about more than anyone in the world died, and your new caretaker didn’t give a shit aside from general empathy that doesn’t actually help you in any way. Chiron is in charge of these kids. He’s supposed to RAISE these kids for their parents. He doesn’t do that, he raises some of them and leaves the rest to raise themselves and raise their siblings. If Chiron actually did his job, Luke might not have been Kronos’s pawn, way less campers would want to join the titan army, and Nico wouldn’t have ran after the first war, because they would have had a home with a stable parental figure who they trusted.
- By contrast I think that Mr. D is one of the most caring of the gods and the way he acts towards the campers is his loophole around Zeus’s rules
- Like he acts as a therapist for Nico and it’s implied that he does the same for other campers, he does care for them
Mr. D might act like he hates his job and hates the kids, but he is actively helping them in any way that he can while playing up that persona. And that persona is how he’s not getting in trouble with Zues, so long as he seems like he hates interacting with the kids he can keep doing it because Zues thinks it’s a punishment. He healed Chris, he plays games with campers, he PROVIDES THERAPY, HE CLAIMS ALL HIS KIDS. He does more than any other god, and more than Chiron does, for a lot of kids. I think that the reason it’s a little more difficult to tell with this is because he puts in a little less effort with Chiron’s favorites, who are the narrators and main characters so it’s their POV that we are getting, because he’s trying to help the campers who don’t have anyone else.
- Percy’s hatred of Luke is something I have a lot of thoughts on- I think it shapes a lot of his opinions of people and makes him oblivious to how similar he and Luke are/how much logic they share
- Like I think Thalia and Percy getting along is entirely dependent on Percy ignoring how intertwined Luke and Thalia’s lives were
- I don’t think Percy understands anyone grieving Luke and the only person he tries to be empathetic towards in regards to that grief is Annabeth
Percy tends to ignore Luke. After getting Luke a proper funeral because of a final heroic act that he respects, Percy never really thinks about Luke again. If he does, it’s not in a positive light. Him ignoring Luke is how he’s able not not see how similar their logic is. They share a lot of the same opinions about the gods, but bc of his fatal flaw Percy associates Luke with betrayal and war instead of their shared opinions. This also makes it hard for Percy to empathize with Luke, which causes the hatred and resentment, and makes it hard for him to understand those who grieve for him. An example of this being how he tries to empathize with Annabeth grieving for Luke without thinking about Luke as anything more than a person who hurt her and others.
If we apply this to Percy’s opinion and perception of Thalia, that means Percy has to ignore a huge part of her life in order to make his feelings about Luke make sense.
It’s said by Annabeth in the books that she thinks Percy and Thalia will either get along really well or try to kill each other, but the former is what actually happens after some time
Percy and Thalia get along on a personality level, but Percy is also shown to not understand why Thalia cares for/grieves Luke. In ttc he doesn’t understand and actually gets mad at her for crying over Luke while they’re on their quest to get Annabeth and Artemis back. Thalia is not Thalia without Luke just like how Luke is not Luke without Thalia. They grew up together, fought together, fought for each other, and care more deeply about each other than either is shown to care for anyone else. In fact the betrayal is the only thing that truly shifts those feelings. They are such important pieces in each other’s live that it took a war for their relationship to shift.
Percy doesn’t understand what Luke and Thalia were to each other and he doesn’t want to. He wants to be friends with Thalia, but he won’t compromise his opinion and ignorance of the person Luke was to do it. So he ignores how connected Luke and Thalia are in order to do just that.
- I don’t think it makes sense for Thalia as a character to stay a hunter after she learned Jason was alive
Thalia became a hunter for the immortality so that she wouldn’t have to become the child of the prophecy. I’ve already talked about how I think that Artemis manipulates young traumatized girls into joining the hunters, that combined with the fact that Thalia was very much against joining the hunters for all of ttc proves she never actually wanted to be a hunter. When she no longer has to worry about the prophecy and she gets her brother back, there is no way that she would choose the hunters, who she didn’t want to be a part of in the first place, over her family.
- I think a majority of camp half blood campers (like those who aren’t his friends) are afraid of Percy
Percy is objectively terrifying. He helped win two wars, survived tartarus, has threatened gods, was offered godhood, and has been described as looking incredibly intimidating. There is no way that campers who have never interacted with him before aren’t scared of him. And he’s a seasonal camper, he’s not around enough for most campers to have interacted with him so that they aren’t afraid of him.
- Will Solace hates Percy Jackson and you cannot convince me otherwise
Percy Jackson lead the two battles that ended in Will losing his older brothers. Are those deaths Percy’s fault, they aren’t, not really, but Will is a child who is going to blame someone. That someone is most likely going to be Percy because he was the child of the prophecy and because Percy was incredibly insistent that Will heal Annabeth during the battle of Manhattan while Michael Yew was MIA and dying.
Moving on to stuff that WAS Percy’s fault. Percy tried to strangle Nico di Angelo. It’s not that Nico wasn’t doing anything wrong, it’s not that Percy didn’t have a right to be mad. It’s that Percy was almost SIXTEEN and his response to and to Nico’s mistake was to strangle him. Nico was TWELVE. Yes he was wrong to do what he did, and yes Percy was still a kid, but a sixteen year old knows better, a twelve year old who’s incredibly mentally unstable and has been practically homeless for two years doesn’t.
Nico would tell his boyfriend what happened and Will would understand what was wrong with that situation even if Nico does not. Will would not forgive Percy for that, especially bc Percy has never tried to make it right. So yeah I think Will hates Percy.
- Cabin 11 never recovers from the second titan war and it is Hermes fault, Luke hurt them, Hermes’s actions made it so they would never recover
- I do not think a single child of Hermes likes their father, there will never not be resentment there
Cabin 11 shatters after the titan war. Luke raised and trained everyone in that cabin. They are probably never going to be trusted by the camp the same way ever again, they are probably never going to trust themselves and each other the same way ever again. After all of the hell that was the second titan war, Hermes doesn’t change. He doesn’t interact with them, or raise them, or even do anything more than claim them (which is a requirement because of Percy’s demands after the war). Cabin 11 breaks because of Luke’s betrayal and the war, but Hermes’ not changing his ways after all the pain he caused is what chatters them. And they all hate him for it.

A Hermes' Cabin Secret. Based off the Books only!
The Hermes Cabin isn't as big as it seems.
Warning: There is spoilers for the books here. If you hate PJO Hermes, he is mentioned here as a highly flawed but decent demigod parent so if you don't like that view; you probably won't like this post.
In mythology, Hermes appeared to have many children but not all of them are confirmed to be his aside from a few. Some may have even been fathered by other gods and mortals. It's hard to know for sure.
I think modern age Hermes is a bit different from his old self (myth counterpart) due to new changes that took him into the modern era. Some old aspects remain while others have disappeared or evolved.
In the olden days, Hermes may have had many children due to life expectancy being much lower. The world was very dangerous and people didn't generally live past 30. His demigods died in battle often or were slain by monsters and other heroes. His satyr and nymph kids could also die if caught in the crossfire of a conflict. He didn't have many immortal children like other gods. Only 1 remains now.
Author's Note:
In PJO, Pan is not explicitly mentioned as Hermes' child. He could've easily been Zeus'. In fact, after re-reading the books, I'm pretty sure he is Zeus'. Pan was either Zeus' or Hermes' kid in myth.
Tyche is a godly daughter of Zeus in PJO not Hermes (at least this is how it seems to be in HOO). She was either Zeus' or Hermes' kid in the myths with Aphrodite or she had completely different parents in the stories.
Hermaphrodite (confirmed myth child of Hermes and Aphrodite) is never mentioned in the PJO series. I don't think he exists in PJO canon.
Angelia (personification of messages and confirmed myth daughter of Hermes) is mentioned in Trials of Apollo.
With the modern age making him so much more busy, he doesn't have as many kids. Life expectancy is higher and societal norms have changed so Hermes may not appear as attractive as he used to be to mortals. Then with his devotion to May (even with her moving on from him) very likely led him to having fewer kids by TLT.
In the Hermes' cabin's special bedroom for the Hermes' kids there is only 4 beds. Hermes' sacred number also being 4. With the book's timeline as my evidence, I find there are really only 4 Hermes kids in that cabin at a given time.
It's a big cabin because of the number of unclaimed children and kids of minor gods in there too. Not because Hermes is a player as much as the fandom thinks he is. If anybody is good in bed it's both Apollo and Aphrodite. Two of the other bigger cabins at camp. With Hephaestus, Ares, Demeter, and Athena not too far behind.
Generation 1 (The first 4 kids):
Luke Castellan ("The Light Giver", the tear in Hermes' heart, died 23)
Chris Rodriguez ("The Traveler", one of Hermes' biggest regrets and failures when it comes to his kids.)
Current age: 20. Clarisse's age and 2 years older than Percy.
Entered camp at 12, defected with Luke at 14.
Current Status: With Clarisse in college/left camp.
Connor Stoll ("Strong Willed and Wise Hunter", Hermes' most determined son)
Current age: 17
Entered camp at at least 6. Was there when Annabeth was 7.
Current Status: At camp and the head cabin counselor.
Travis Stoll ("The Hard Worker", Hermes' most diligent son)
Current age: 18 (Percy and Annabeth's age)
Entered camp at at least 7. Was there when Annabeth was 7.
Current status: In college.
Generation 2 or the kids Percy brings back to CHB after TLO. Cecil arrives before Alice and Julia since we see him in HOO. The girls show up in Trials of Apollo. Hermes mentions to Percy that he has three kids needing to get to camp. These kids are those 3.
Cecil Markowitz ("The Boy from Wisconsin" and "Blind to One's Own Beauty", Hermes' most caring child)
Current age: 14 (younger than Will and around Nico's age)
Entered camp at 13 in beginning of HOO.
Current status: At camp.
Alice Miyazawa (His daughter from LA, "The Noble One", Hermes' most curious child)
Current age: 13
Entered camp at 12 at end of HOO.
Current status: At camp.
Julia Feingold (His second daughter from LA, "The Youthful One", Hermes' child that's the most young at heart.)
Current age: 14
Entered camp at 13 at end of HOO.
Current status: At camp.
The cabin now holds them plus Connor Stoll currently. After the loss of Luke and May and the regretful neglect of Chris, Hermes decides not to have any more children. Least another gets cursed by the Fates or he fails them once again. He now understands more about how much demigods do sacrifice and doesn't want any more pain for his kids. Once Connor leaves, the fourth bed will remain empty.
