I know what the people want, so here is another snippet from NFL Buck featuring more of Buck's perspective. (All things NFL Buck can be found here.)

Ali gave him one last tight hug, "You did good Buckley. Shook all the right hands, stayed away from the corporate sharks, and the press absolutely loved you." She praised. Buck felt warm all over and gave her a soft, grateful smile, "We both know I only survived this evening because of you. I can't thank you enough Ali really." His agent's eyes misted over and she smiled in return, "Maybe so Evan," He scrunched his nose and Ali rolled her eyes, "Sorry...Buck. You still haven't told me how you got that chicken sounding nickname and why only like four other people besides me call you it." They both chuckled, but quickly sober. She gives his right bicep a gentle squeeze, "I'm only here because of you. Because you took a chance on a no name, client-less, newbie sports agent who was brought to you by your secret boyfriend after he patched her up following an astronomically awful rage quit that put her asshat of a boss in the hospital." "He tried forcing himself on you. It was self defense and a faulty balcony railing." Buck reminded with a smirk. The petite brunette winks, "And thats the story I'm still sticking to." She waved her hand around brushing away the past, "The point is, were here because of your hard work, sacrifice and enormous heart. I'm just making sure no one takes advantage of it all. Accept your share of the credit and celebrate being the 9th pick in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft. Celebrate being the Houston Texan's newest quarterback! Whoo!" She shouts in elation. Buck laughs boisterously and cheers right along with her, at a lower volume level and with less energy. He was happy really. The dream he's had since he was six was becoming a reality. All the practicing, studying, workouts, and personal sacrifice had finally paid off. Ali was one of numerous people who got him to this point and he was glad he at least had her at his side tonight, but Buck really wished the three most important people in his life were with him too. Maddie sent an email from her work account congratulating him, but Buck hadn't seen or physically heard from the woman who basically raised him since he left for college. Eddie couldn't get the time off and neither of them felt comfortable bringing a soon to be five year old Christopher to New York. Kid was still getting the hang of his new crutches and finding adequate childcare for him that didn't involve Eddie's parents was impossible. Buck really missed his Diaz boys (and his sister, but that was an ache he was accustomed to). He wanted to see Christopher's blinding joy when Evan's name was called, even though he wouldn't quite understand what it entailed. He wanted Eddie to wrap him up in the tightest hug while shouting his excitement too close to Buck's ear before kissing him stupid and shoving him towards the stage. Buck wanted to be out and open and proud with his partner and son, but the world his football dreams are apart of, wouldn't accept it and that tight ache in Buck's chest will have to stay.

A bit angsty today, but I want ya'll to see these milestones of a professional players road to the NFL. It takes so much hard work and sacrifice to make it to the NFL, and for Buck that includes the personal sacrifice to stay closeted and keep his same sex relationship a secret. A lifelong dream like that is worth it to him, to many professional athletes. I hope you all enjoyed!

BUCK IS THE BEST PERSON TO GIVE DATING ADVICE TO CHRIS, HEAR ME OUT.

Okay, I know we're all laughing about women fleeing Buck and how awful he is at relationships, but I don't feel like that's true.

First of all, just because a relationship ends, doesn't mean that it FAILED. Dating is as much about getting to know YOURSELF, what you want out of a relationship and what your own boundaries are as it is about getting to know the person you're dating. It's about growing, and learning from your mistakes, and I feel like Buck HAS done that. I'm not saying he's a perfect dater (the Taylor/Lucy thing, wtf was that?) but also, he has gotten better.

With Abby, he grew from fuckboy Firehose to someone that is considerate and thoughtful to his partner. (I don't LOVE that we credit Abby for his growth, since he was the one that made the initial boundary to not meet up right away because he didn't want to fall back into that sleep with anything that moves mindset, but she is mostly credited with it canonically, so we're going to use it.) Also, she didn't leave because Buck was a bad boyfriend or anything. She left because she needed to find herself after her mom died, and that's it.

With Ali too, she left because of his job, because she couldn't handle being with a first responder, which is a genuine concern for a LOT of people. It's hard to love someone with a dangerous job like that, and not know if they're going to come home at night. It had nothing to do with who Buck was as a boyfriend.

With Taylor, that whole relationship was a mess, IMO, them getting together when they did was a recipe for disaster. Obviously, Buck shouldn't have asked her to move in because he was scared to tell her about Lucy, but I'm not saying he's a PERFECT dater, I'm saying he's learning, and that's what's important. When he did admit to the kiss, Taylor is the one that decided that it wasn't a hard line for her, or she would have broken up with him, living together or not. It probably would have been awkward and complicated, but it was all of those things when they DID break up later in the series. From this relationship, Buck learned that it's better to be alone than it is to be with someone for the wrong reasons.

He has had a lot of growth from s1 to the end of s6, and that is clear in his dating.

Now, everyone that's saying Eddie should go to Bobby or Chim for advice, I'm going to say this: It's easy to date when you immediately find the person you're going to marry.

Let me be clear, I'm not saying that Madney & Bathena don't have their own struggles within their relationships, but Bobby and Chim got pretty luck, they found women that they clicked with and then eventually fell in love with almost as soon as they went looking.

When Bobby decided he was ready to move on from Marcy, the ONLY person we actually see him dating in the show is Athena, and they end up married.

After Tatiana leaves Chim, and he decides that he's going to be himself and look for a genuine connection, Maddie is conveniently placed in front of him.

I'm not saying that either of them are bad daters, or bad partners or anything, but we don't really SEE them date. Maybe it's because they're older and they already know what they're looking for and what they can and can't accept in a relationship, but realistically, it's wild to think that you're going to fall in love and get married to the first person that you find when you start dating. The majority of people have to date around and actually look to find the person they're meant to be with, not magically find them right out of the gate.

Especially for a FIRST first date, it's all about figuring out how dating works, what is and isn't expected and acceptable and navigating getting to know a new person, as well as yourself, and I think Buck is the clear best option when it comes to experience about women. He's had several girlfriends and also convinced only God knows how many people to sleep with him, so he's obviously charming, and pleasant to spend time within a romantic situation.

Also, God knows nobody is asking Eddie for dating advice, since the man only married his girlfriend bc she was pregnant and then had to be told (BY BUCK) that he deserved to be happy in a relationship instead of sticking it out for everyone else.

Anyway, this has been on my mind ever since that interview came out with everyone making fun of Eddie for going to Buck because he's had (based on what we're reading about Natalia's character) 4 "failed" relationships, but again, I truly believe that a relationship ending does not automatically mean it failed.

Also, Eddie goes to Buck because they're CO-PARENTS & SOULMATES but all of this other stuff too 😂

I have to briefly pause pole dancer!Buck for something else I need to finish, but have this lil snippet (prev snippet here) a bit of foreshadowing that mirrors a canon event 😏

When she swivels away again, he notices her pulling at the sleeves of her cover up, trying to tug them down further.   “Hey. Are you good?”  “Yeah,” she answers dismissively. “Just some creep out there, being a dick and acting like he’s god’s gift to women. You know, the usual.” An ugly protective sensation curls in his gut. “Did he try something? If he did I can-” “Buck. While I appreciate the whole white knight routine, I’m a big girl who can take care of herself. Besides, security’s always right there if I need them.”  She’s right, of course. There are bouncers spread throughout the club keeping a watchful eye on everyone and everything. Some of them appear less imposing, but they’re all capable of doing serious damage. And while the situations at the club rarely become that intense, Buck’s still seen enough to know he never wants to be on the receiving end.  Additionally, none of that means shit can’t still happen before security gets it under control.  “I guess you’re right,” he concedes, not feeling the least bit comforted. “Just say the word, yeah?”

Ali was probably the best out of the others and their relationship was very cute to watch

Yes, you get it!!! I know she didn't get much screentime and people tend to write off her relationship with Buck because of it (and fair enough, honestly), but I loved her for the time she was there! She showed so much personality in so few episodes, and I still feel like it was a missed opportunity to not show their time together at all. Like, girl had JOKES, she was so funny and had such great chemistry with Buck and Eddie in the hi-rise. And it seemed like at her core, she was a really good and mature person who did her absolute best to do right by Buck, even when she started having doubts about them being together.

And whenever I rewatch the show I feel like I have to sit through a lot of not-great scenes when it comes to Buck's relationships, but that scene of them at the end of Buck, Actually where they meet up at the cafe and banter about how maybe she should've called Eddie instead never fails to make me grin like an idiot—it was so cute and dorky, and honestly I think that's a huge part of why I've fallen in love with BuckTommy so fast, because Tommy is also really dorky despite being this really handsome and competent helicopter pilot and I love that for Buck. (You know who's also a known dork? Eddie Diaz. I'm realizing a lot about why I ship what I ship rn 😂)

Yeah, so anyway, this was way longer than I can probably justify for a character who was in only like three episodes, but I'm gonna say it—Ali deserved better and I wish we'd seen more of her.

Buck sees her in a Starbucks a month after he died. 

Her hair is longer now, back to blonde. But other than that, the same as the day she left him on that couch. 

It’s the twenty four hour Starbucks by the hospital, he had a check in appointment, they like to do that when you die. 

His name is called and she turns to find him and her smile is the same as it was four years ago. 

“I had a feeling it was you,” she says as he leans forward to grab the to-go cup from the counter. She takes him in, assessing his state.

“Hi,” he smiles brightly, of all his exes, she was the one he could still smile about. Her leaving hurt, but he understood. But something tugged in his chest, telling him to talk to her. It wasn't the ache of a past love awakening– it was just good to see her face, know that she ended up okay, “Actually, do you have a minute– I would love to catch up. Just, you know as friends.” There was something about the way her hair was piled on the top of her head, and now that he was closer he could see her eyes were weary and tired. 

Her shoulders sagged and she let out a breath, “Yeah, I think that would be nice actually.” 

They sit in the quiet corner, and it’s awkward for a moment,

“Are you still a–” 

“Where have you–” 

And they both laugh and its freeing and they both settle into their chairs a little more. 

Buck ducks his head and smiles, “Yeah, I’m still a firefighter. And an uncle!” He pulls out his phone and brings up his favorite picture of him and Jee, it’s a selfie, both of them with ice cream smeared across their faces.

“Oh she’s adorable, Maddie and Chimney must be so happy.”

He smiles and nods as he puts away his phone. 

“I had a project in New York recently which was really exciting– stressful but so rewarding. And I’ll be in Chicago next, then I think San Francisco called,” she laughs.

“Busy as ever. What brings you back?” 

Her body softens, “My sister, she– she’s not doing well. We thought that she was off the hook you know– beating cancer at 15? But guess not. It came back. So I kind of live over there right now,” she gestures across the street with her head. 

“Ali, I--”

“I swear to God if the next sentence is pity, I can’t take any more of it.” 

He just takes her hand and squeezes it tight. 

“If you ever need a real bed and a home cooked meal, you know where I live. I mean it. 

“You haven’t moved?” She asked, wiping a stray tear away. 

“It’s kind of complicated right now. I do technically live there. But, uh I have spent the better majority of the last month at Eddie’s.” 

“Is he okay? Didn’t almost die right?” 

“I mean, he did but that was two years ago.” 

A quizzical expression crosses her face.

“Do you remember how there was that sniper?”

And he watches as the dots connect. 

“He’s okay now, and I helped him recover from that."

She tilts her head with the questions, “You haven’t almost died again have you?” 

And he stills. There was no almost about it.  He’s never had to tell anyone that he died. Everyone important to him had known before he did. He supposes that is a very exclusive club to be a part of, being able to tell people that you died. 

He clears his throat, “Well, um, I–kinda died a month ago?” He lets out a breath because he can. And she looks at him with wide eyes, “I’ve had close calls too, but–”

“Buck, that–”

“I know.”

Something shifts and he looks behind him and looks up to find Eddie looking around the store, eyes finally landing on Buck, an ounce of tension leaving his shoulders as he walks over. 

He tilts his head, “Ali?” 

She smiles up at him, “Hi, Eddie. It’s good to see you.” She gets up from the table. “I should head back. It was really good to talk, Buck.”

“I meant it. My number hasn’t changed either so just let me know and we will figure something out okay?” 

She nods and squeezes his hand one more time.

He watches her leave, his lip stuck between his teeth. 

Every time I watch the earthquake episode I want to scream at Ali because girl he told you to secure yourself with the rope and you what? Tied one fucking knot or something?? If that was me, I'm starting to wrap myself like a goddamn burrito and triple quadruple knotting that rope like damn 💀

i think the unexpected guest coming back tonight is ali and i think it's to contrast natalia's attitude to death on the job bc. like. the whole reason buck and ali didn't work out was because ali couldn't handle seeing buck almost die. and like. natalia. thinks buck's death is cool. anyways. (:
