I've... been watching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood again.....
Blurbles about all the hermits under the cut!
Rendog: Wolf Chimera. He has a human form he rarely uses, and generally gets away in public with the glaringly obvious lie of "Oh all this hair? It's a... uh... rare skin condition." It does help that his best friend is a known doctor and somewhat mad scientist. Shortly after he was created he killed his creator and stole their philosopher stone, entrusting it to Doc, a friend he had before his chimera-fication. He and Mumbo came from the same facility.
Docm77: Military and Cosmetic Automail Engineer. Started off in Rush Valley and, once he decided he knew enough about automail, started to work his way up through the military building specialized prosthetics. He's been trying to launch a body modification program for years, viewing it as a more humane was of augmenting humanity than the fleshcraft that comes with human transmutation. He was, understandably, horrified when Ren showed up on his doorstep one day as a chimera.
Bdubs: Istvalan Creation Alchemist. Bdubs is a freelance alchemist not associated with any military powers -- and he's trying desperately to keep it that way. His creations are intricate, and he specializes in a wide variety of materials. He's best known for his experimental [and extremely temperamental] "Pretty-Alchemy", where he McGuivers transmutation circles and equations on how they "feel" instead of how alchemically sound they are.
Welsknight [and Helsknight]: Soul-bound armor. A pair of swordsmen who were forced into a suit of armor to guard the chimeric facility that created so many monsters. Welsknight, the brains of the operation, is situated in the helmet while Helsknight, the stronger fighter, is bound to the chestplate. They spent a lot of time bickering amongst each other, but when their goals happen to align, they are a force to be reckoned with. When their facility was destroyed, they were ordered to kill the escaping chimeras -- until a very charismatic Ren convinced them to flee instead.
False: Military sniper. She spends a lot of time fending off Doc's advances [ie. automail modifications to help her shoot and aim better]. She's worked her way up through the ranks because of her skill, but her general aversion to leading and governing keeps her out of the upper echelons of Central Command. Instead she finds herself bouncing between command stations whenever uprisings occur in Amestris. She was one of the military officers sent to respond to the chimera facility's collapse. When she recognized Ren among the people escaping, she found there was "too much smoke" to take proper aim at the escaping creatures. She was demoted shortly after the event, not that it bothered her much.
Grian: The Updraft Alchemist. One of the few alchemists who have ever taken up Doc on his offer for cosmetic automail. The wings attach to nerves in his shoulder blades, and after several years of tweaking, actually respond to his movements. He can't fly with them per-se, they function more like an incredibly sensitive glider -- which works just fine for Grian, since he specializes in temperature alchemy, causing dramatic updraft/downdrafts. He was not at the chimera facility event, but has become good friends with many of the people involved through Doc -- he spends so much time getting his wings repaired after his various crashes, he almost lives in Doc's work room.
Tangotek: The Fuse-Metal Alchemist. He mostly uses alchemy in welding and crafting, though he's been known to create fire and weapons on the fly when he needs to. As a state alchemist, he's expected to be a living weapon on some level -- and his powerful alchemy definitely helps with that, though he's best at making walls and fortresses than he is at real standing combat. No one knows how he got ahold of his philosopher's stone -- in fact, most people don't even know he has one. He only uses it when he feels like his life is threatened [or needs a good kick to make something truly impressive]. He used to work in the chimera facility, making containment for the more volatile creatures. He's absorbed a lot of the theory on human transmutation, but has yet to use it.
Mumbo: Lizard Chimera and Chimera Expert. Mumbo's first miraculous use of transmutation was to turn himself into a chimera. Unfortunately, lizards aren't quite as smart as people are, so it took some time to relearn the formula and materials involved. He was subject 0 at the chimera facility, and, once he'd regained his wits, helped in the experimentation into chimera crafting -- though he was under the impression all the subjects were willing volunteers like he was... oh dear. He was the one who orchestrated the escape, and, having befriended Ren by then, escaped with him when the facility collapsed. He swears he'll never do human transmutation again -- except maybe on himself. Like, being able to climb up walls is nice and all, but imagine what he could do with bird wings? Or a bull's strength? Or--

Day 525
"With all due respect sir please watch your back."
sorry its more HC x FMA AU again
Major Stevens Impulse is basically Pearl's right hand man. He often accompanies Pearl or Gem during field work and sometimes research. He's a skilled marksman and physically stronger than Pearl and Gem (that is, without the use of their alchemy). Pearl and Gem are also notoriously bad at watching their backs, though they joke that it's just to give Impulse something to do.

I was looking through the spicy chicken tag and saw fem scar and thought how he would definitely be like one of those cliche anime trope of the busty girl and would get into weird and sexual positions accidentally with normal grian and mumbo
as much as i really dont like that trope when i see it in anime i absolutely agree scar would keep getting into those situations
half of the time he is absolutely doing it on purpose but the other half he is genuinely so weirdly clumsy shit happens and at this point grian and mumbo cant tell anymore which ones are accidental because some are just like...."HOW DID YOU GET STUCK WITH JUST YOUR BUTT LOOKING OUT OF THE PORTAL? you cant possibly do this one on purpose because it's not even a physical door...."
Tumblr media
cub just thinks it's cute that scar tries to get his attention like that and he thinks most of these are on purpose and then gets horrified when he sees that actually half of these are genuine and is amazed scar isnt dead yet

Today on Morph brainrot hours: Hermitcraft FMA AU!
except its kinda only Boatem and also Gem and kind of Skizz because. There's too many hermits I can't accurately au them sorryyyy
So! Role call!
Pearl - Lieutenant Colonel Seyche Pearl, the Shifting Earth Alchemist. She became a State Alchemist before the Ishvalan Civil War and joined eventually joined the war. She was assigned to protect the military doctors. After the war, she was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and transferred to Central, where she now does field work and assists with the alchemical laboratory research efforts, specifically with Gem.
Gem - Major General Taylor Gemini, the Mending Alchemist. She was one of the top military doctors during the war, not just for her skill in the medical field but also in the literal warzone. Though she wasn't involved in the work with Philosopher Stones, she did hear rumors about it from the other doctors. She started researching bio-alchemy, earned her State Alchemist license, and eventually became head of the 4th Laboratory.
Impulse - Major Stevens Impulse. Impulse transferred from East to Central shortly after the war and came under Pearl's command. Old friends with Grian, Scar, and Skizz back from the military academy and through the war. He frequently accompanies Gem and Pearl, who are...notoriously bad at watching their backs.
Grian - The Windstorm Alchemist, I haven't decided on his real name yet but most people just call him by his title. Became a State Alchemist right before state alchemists were called in to Ishval and Impulse, Skizz, and Scar came under his command. Some time after the war ended, Grian decided to remain a State Alchemist for research opportunities and transferred to Central, coming under Pearl's command. Both of his arms are automail.
Near the end of the Ishvalan Civil War, Skizz died during a skirmish. Impulse did not take this very well and was transferred to Central not long after the war ended. Grian and Scar blamed themselves for Skizz's death because Grian was his CO and Scar's negligence was partially the cause of his death (though Grian would argue otherwise). While Scar was not a state alchemist, he does know alchemy.
So Grian and Scar decide to bring Skizz back to life. With predictable results. The rebound cost Grian's arms and Scar's legs. The two managed to drag themselves to Mumbo's workshop, leaving the poor man to freak out over his two friends who are both missing half their limbs.
Mumbo, with some help from his boss Tango, makes Grian and Scar new automail limbs. Scar decides to resign from the military and chills in Rush Valley with Mumbo, but Grian continues with his research.
After Grian transfers to Central, he, Gem, Pearl, and Impulse make some headway into Gem's investigation about Philosopher Stones, discovering the passageway under Lab 4 leading the Lab 5. Gem and Pearl go in first, discovering a philosopher stone and barely escape with their lives, Grian and Impulse following them to give backup. Grian gets ahold of Marcoh's documents before the Library burns down and him, Gem, and Pearl all have an aneurysm trying to decode it. No one is happy with the results when they're done anyways.
Also this is all happening in tandem to the canon events of FMA. This is about all i have right now lol I just needed to spill these thoughts from my head XD thanks for reading

So here's the thing. Mumbo can occasionally make decisions without... thinking them through. And maybe, someone, not him, but someone, would say that setting up right in front of The Alchemist's base was not a decision he thought through.
In his defense, the mountain lump was rather nice, and Grian was interesting! Interesting in the way that redstone was interesting to him, something to take apart and put back together to see how it worked.
People were wary of Grian, of The Alchemist, of the odd being with too-dark eyes and too-sharp teeth that moved into the server, with a rock that he stared at for occasionally hours on end. Not moving. Not even breathing, it seemed. Just... staring.
And then he moved out of the town to make an even bigger rock, and everyone in the starter town seemed to breathe out a collective sigh of relief.
But Mumbo is curious. He's always curious. He wants to see what the guy is up to, wants to see how far he can push him, and really, the mountain lump.... it's a very nice mountain lump. Plus, he needs a place far away from the town so he can safely store his Massive Amounts of Wealth in his vault.
So he claims it, and scrawls out blueprints with red ink, and he turns and sees Grian watching him with hawk-like eyes, perched on top of his giant boulder, claws digging into the stone. Mumbo tenses, but does not look away. Instead, he stares right back.
They do this for a few days, Mumbo will be out working, planning, and he will feel eyes on the back of his head, and it always seems like more than there should be, hundreds and hundreds of something staring at him.
One day, he turns and yelps, because there is Grian, standing right behind him, just a few feet away. "Oh," he says, nervously, "Hello."
"Hi," The Alchemist says, unimpressed, and he gestures at the mountain lump they are both standing on. "This is mine."
"Yeah, well... it's mine now. I claimed it. It's a rather nice lump, isn't it?"
"Yes," Grian says, still staring at him, and Mumbo notices that his sclera is completely black, sharp amber irises the only color in them. Grian turns to the blueprints Mumbo has spread out on the table, head cocked. "Those are some awfully big base plans," he sees curiously, and there is that undercurrent of danger danger danger that underlines the sentence.
Mumbo swallows nervously. "Well, I mean, I could've expanded towards your base. You're lucky."
Grian chuckles, and it is a friendly sound, isn't it. Isn't it? "Big vault you have there."
"Yup. To hide my multitude of riches. You know how it is."
"Seems to me like a challenge," Grian says, and he is looking at him now, eyes seeing through and into and taking apart, and Mumbo is beginning to think he made a very big mistake. "Building a vault right in front of me. For the second time. Strange, isn't it?"
Isn't it, isn't it, isn't it.
Under him, he hears a pulse, a buzz filling his ears. Where is the sound coming from, he wonders. It ripples through the air for a moment, a warning, and it reminds him of something. What does it remind him of.
"Well," Mumbo says. "You haven't been able to get inside my vault yet."
"No," Grian says consideringly. "I haven't."
Silence.
Grian is still staring at him, and there is a drone filling his ears, and Grian's teeth look too sharp in the moonlight, and he looks, in that moment, like a hawk. About to strike. About to--
"How about a wager," Mumbo says desperately, and Grian takes a step back. When had he stepped closer.
Grian cocks his head to the side again, and the buzzing stops. He smiles. It is a nice smile. Isn't it? "I'm listening."
"Since I'm at your doorstep, you can try and break into my vault. If you fail, you die. You can't break in for another two weeks. And if... you win, you can get--what's inside."
Grian smiles again, and this time, it is sharp. It is dangerous. "What do you get out of it?" he asks.
You to leave me alone, Mumbo thinks. To never come back. For the eyes that follow you and The Entity and the buzzing from the ground to get out. Instead, he says, "Ten diamond blocks every time you want to break in."
"Five," Grian challenges.
"Alright," Mumbo says, before the drone can fill his ears again. "Five." He holds out his hand to shake.
Grian takes it, and his talons are strange. "Oh," he says delightedly, "This is going to be fun."
And he flies off, to his boulder, to his Rift, to the million eyes that sit in the stone and his cathedral of marble and rusted copper. And Mumbo watches him go, relieved.
Mumbo might make decisions without thinking them through, but even he knows not to anger a god. At least The Thing that hums under the ground is harmless.
Isn't it?
// I don't know if this makes sense at all ajfkjsdhfkjshdjf, I had just finished watching Grian's latest vid and was extremly inspired by the concept of a mortal striking a deal with a god.

Locket please! If it hasn’t been done yet!
Locket: idea for a fic I haven't written yet
MAN this is a tough one if only for the sheer amount of concepts i have for all my fandoms that i just. Haven't had the time or energy to actually sit and write down.
Oh gods okay so this is a very light hearted scarian au that i thought of recently that i would love to write if only for the sheer romcom of it all:
Scar (cat) and Grian (parrot) are the familiars of two feuding alchemists-- Cub and Mumbo respectively. Cub and Mumbo both have an intense rivalry going on, one that has quickly devolved into trading petty messages back and forth through their familiars. Cub has Scar ferry a passive aggressive note to Mumbo, Mumbo sends Grian with a scathing one right back, so on and so forth. The only problem is that in the middle of it all, Scar and Grian end up falling in love, to the dismay of every other party.
I actually wrote a snippet for this and every time i look at it i start laughing to myself like an idiot so here u go, hopefully this amuses you too
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
"Your feathers are looking very shiny today, Grian," Scar tacks on, bright and cheerful, as if he hasn't just insulted Mumbo within an inch of his life. His tail flicks, curling around his scarred paws in the very picture of politeness.
Grian tries not to get in his head about it, fails, and puffs out his feathers-- just a little, just for show. "I had a good preen earlier," he replies, aiming for neutral and falling short a few astronomical units. He ignores Mumbo's incredulous look in order to set a ruffled feather with his beak, unable to keep the pleased bob of his head under control.
