I ship Albert and the count since the moment I ended long ago watching for the first time Gankutsuou, but…

I see that their relationship can be read as a father-son bond and I accept it with no problem. But…

Then I remember how the Count has more of this bond with Maximillien in the novel.

And even if friendship can be considered a best way to describe his relationship the count TRICKED and BETRAYED his trust, both in the anime and the novel and never really tell him sorry for anything. So…

He doesn’t care for Albert, or no? At least not so much? Mostly it CAN be right (arguably) for the novel but even in the anime?

In the anime there are scenes where the count visibly has emphaty for Albert. So, in this case friendship is ok.

However Albert told him once that he wants to be like him as an adult. This is really a parent-son-ish thing to say.

BUT THEN… The scene where Albert see him and Heloise in the garden and he reacted like the young teenage boy he is, he dreaming of him tied with the open shirt at the count mercy… And the count calling him fruit of betray…

BUT…

NO GOD!! STOP! … … … sigh …

I honestly LOVE how their relationship has so much level and possibilities of interpretations!

However I must stop trying to label them for once, it will always be the same story over and over and over in my brainXXD!

secret heaven translation [18+]

One of the two stories in “Wilder Than Heaven” produced by ATOMIC PUNCH. Originally scanned by syber-chan. Couldn’t find a translation or anything, so I spent a bit on one. I’m sure you can find the full thing floating around, but here’s an imgur link (NSFW) for this particular story. I might do the other half eventually. Still learning JP, so I’m sure there are mistakes.

Since in my country is from today on cinema "The Beauty and the Beast" live action, here my au crossover with the count and Albert

rambles about possible original planning of Gankutsuou

I will never be not suspition about how the MALE homosexuality in the initial plan for Gankutsuou was planned to be.

Before beginning: I don’t like the yaoi genre, too full of clichés and too many times it reinforces gender steretipes, so what I really like about the anime of Gankutsuou is how emotional is, and natural and not treated like an anormality the queer relationships are, avoiding the sex too -not that I would minded, but a sex act/kiss seems annoying necessary in this heteronormative world to be called canon, everybody knows.

Then reading the manga I saw a version of that world really so full of pride for the virility of a man that I was very unhappy to see that changed. Even when Cremieux/Heloise and Valentine act very ambiguosly with each others they talk about the men’s desires -mmmnnghrrrr…-

So, considering that the manga can be considered a little of what Mahiro Maeda had in mind in the beginning…

I am very afraid that an eventual homosexual relationship between Albert and the Count was originally considered as a SHOKING TWIST in the plot, something unespected that showed how much the count was willing to do for reach his obiectives.

Think about it, in the original trailer they showed an Eugenie and Louise’s kiss, Victoria in the bed almost naked, and in another trailer even an act of oral sex with a lot of women, they clearly marketed the anime for a male audience. In a scenary like this I personally see only in a way similar of like it was Kaworu and Shinji’s relationship in Evangelion, that was showed only in the last episodes Albert with the Count, plus with make it looks by the narrative as something ill and creepy.

Probably they wanted showed a little good side of it -the narrative of the trailer by Albert, the last actions of the count for revenge against his family, I can’t image a finale without any good humanity side- but very probably the count in the end would have be dead or with Haydee like in the novel, and Albert would have discard his gay relationship as “some act of a fool and naive teen” and would have go to military, earning for himself honor -and masculinity-.

Probably I am exaggering, but from the atmosphere, the characters and what I feel I can’t be so hopefull for the anime, that probably wouldn’t appeal to me if it was made in that way. And I love Gankutsuou because is NOT in this way!

Again my endless desire to know what they initially wanted to do with my affection for the anime we have in the end…

PS: And for finishing, probably Franz with Valentine was the -possible- end game of the anime, Maximillien is not showed in the trailers, and even in the manga we didn’t see him, so almost certainly Franz was a proud hetero guy, and not in love with Albert (ambiguosly but “not homo” way for the win T^T), they even change his design from the trailer when his role became bigger!
