reader goes on squad mission, some difficulty’s happen but they end up dying protecting everyone and when the squad comes back they try to avoid s/o or try to tell them in the nicest way possible

Sasuke

🔥 He had sent Y/n out on a mission along with Suigetsu to infiltrate the last sighting a group of Akatsuki members had been seen at. Itachi wasn't one of them but it wouldn't hurt to check out so they could get a lead on where he could be

🔥 It was early in the day when the two of them had set off but it was nearing dusk now and the two of them still haven't returned

🔥 What was supposed to be a simple spy mission was taking longer than necessary and just as Sasuke considered going after them like Jugo suggested that was when Karin called out that she could sense Suigetsu in the distance told him that wouldn't be necessary

🔥 There seemed to be a problem though. Karin sensed the white haired male but not Y/n

🔥 Narrowing his eyes, Sasuke went to meet Suigetsu halfway and demands to know why his s/o wasn't with him

🔥 They hadn't been in a relationship for long but knowing each other since they were little kids gave them history and over time Sasuke found himself growing fond of the young shinobi

🔥 While Sasuke hadn't been looking to develop feelings for anyone right now, he wasn't mad about it and gave a damn about them more than anyone else

🔥 Meeting up with Suigetsu, the others could tell that he had been ambushed and was close to collapsing from exhaustion

🔥 Catching his teammate when he had lost his balance, Sasuke was quick to have Karin tend to him and asked what had happened

🔥 Seeing Suigetsu in this condition without his s/o was concerning but he tried not to let it show before he really knew what was going on

🔥 Did the Akatsuki take his s/o as a hostage and planned to get information out of them? Or were they injured out there somewhere and Suigetsu traveled all this way to get help?

🔥 The words that left Suigetsu's mouth before he lost consciousness caused Sasuke to lose his grip and drop him to the ground

🔥 His s/o wasn't really dead, were they..?

🔥 Y/n was a strong shinobi who could take care of themselves but it seemed they had met their match going up against Hidan of the Akatsuki

🔥 He should have been the one to go on the stake out with Y/n instead or not have send them out at all before they knew what they were dealing with. He underestimated how the situation would go. A mistake he would be sure to never make again

🔥 Giving them a proper burial was the least he could do and he promised not to let the information Suigetsu and they were able to gather before they had met their fate to go to waste

🔥 Suigetsu grew weary around his team leader. He was supposed to aid in protecting Y/n but they had protected him instead resulting in losing their life

🔥 The silence from the Uchiha was somehow even more terrifying than crying or unleashing his anger towards Suigetsu and blaming him

🔥 Suigetsu was just thankful that his target was the one really responsible and he would assist Sasuke on his revenge anyway he could

🔥 Itachi wasn't the only Akatsuki member Sasuke planned to make suffer

Shikamaru

🦌 When he was first called into see Lady Hokage he assumed that she wanted to go over a mission that he was to lead or maybe there was going be another meeting held between the Jonin to discuss a joint training session that they have been considering for their students

🦌 Either one sounded like a drag but it was best to get this over with so he could return to other tasks he needed to make sure were taken care of

🦌 Walking through the halls of the Hokage's building, he took notice of two other Shinobi leaving her headquarters with expressions that left a chill in the room

🦌 Shikamaru quickly recognized them as Y/n's teammates but where was his s/o?

🦌 It has been two weeks since they had set out on a mission that would take up a bid of time but mentally checking the date on a calendar in his head, they should have been back any day now

🦌 Y/n promising to return back to him as quickly as they could wasn't necessary since he knew personally that missions can take longer than originally planned but he still leaned in to kiss them goodbye and told them that he would be waiting for them when they returned

🦌 Seeing Y/n's teammates without their third member gave Shikamaru an uneasy feeling. He told himself that maybe they were just drained from the long journey home and maybe his s/o was still inside talking to Tsunade but when one of them lifted their head to see Shikamaru standing there he quickly urged the other male to move along; lowering their heads to avoid eye contact with the Nara

🦌 Watching as they scurried away from him made the uneasy feeling grow even more

🦌 Needing to focus on why he was here in the first place, Shikamaru shook his head and gave a firm knock on the Hokage's door

🦌 A soft "Come in" was barely audible but still allowed the young male to enter the room that held an even greater chill that he almost shivered at

🦌 "You wanted to see me, Lady Tsunade?" Shikamaru got straight to the point trying to ignore the way she rested her forehead on her folded hands that were propped up with her elbows resting on her desk. Shizune stood in the room as well and shifted her apologetic gaze away from his whenever they would come into contact

🦌 Taking a breath, Tsunade collected herself before returning her attention to Shikamaru. She was never sure how to start a conversation like this. She's had to pass this sort of news in the past but it never got easier

🦌 Knowing that the Nara boy was most likely growing impatient, Tsunade broke the news to him as gently as she could about the misfortunate events

🦌 While the mission to retrieve the scrolls from another village was completed it came with a terrible price

🦌 Shikamaru stood there with his heartbeat quickening, his breathing becoming shallow and his eyes widening at the news of his s/o dying during the mission

🦌 What did she say? No, he didn't want to hear it again

🦌 Listening closely to the news of how Y/n risked their own life to retrieve the scrolls and make sure they get back to the Leaf one way or another, Shikamaru simply nodded his head before turning and exiting the room

🦌 Once he was out of their sight that was when the tears started to slip from his eyes

🦌 Shizune called for him to wait but Tsunade told her to let him be

🦌 Shikamaru would need time to get past this and while he has bounced back from losing someone he cared about before, Tsunade just hoped that he would have the strength to attend the funeral this time

Tobirama

💦 Y/n had been away for quite some time now and while it couldn't be helped he still found himself starting to become anxious for their return

💦 After two whole weeks the group they had set off with returned to their village and were welcomed by loved ones greeting them

💦 Watching from a window, Tobirama narrowed his eyes when he didn't see his s/o right away and even double counted but Y/n was nowhere to be seen among them

💦 Something wasn't right and he stormed out of the building in hopes someone could explain to him what was going on

💦Why did it have to be so difficult?

💦 The group of shinobi that had gone on this mission were avoiding him like the plague, giving him apologetic smiles as they quickly scurried along

💦 They were hiding something from him specifically and their excuses why they couldn't talk right now only fueled his frustrations

💦 Hoping his brother would have an idea on what was going on, Tobirama returned in the direction he had come trying to ignore the worrying pain in his chest before he could assume the worst

💦 Tobirama was about to knock on the Hokage's door when he began to hear voices on the other side

💦 Normally he didn't care to invade on a private conversation unless he had to and given how everyone was acting around him, he found himself pressing his ear against the door and holding his breath to hide his presence

💦 "I see.. No, no it wasn't your fault. Y/n wouldn't want you to blame yourself."

💦 Gripping onto the frame of the door, Tobirama's hold only tightened as he listened to how his s/o died during the mission in result of protecting their comrades

💦 Y/n was really..?

💦 Slamming the door open and startling both men in the room, Tobirama demanded to know what the meaning of all this was refusing to believe what he heard was true even though deep down he knew Y/n was really gone

💦 Sensing the anger from his brother that only built up as the man tried to explain once again what had become of his s/o, Hashirama quickly stood up and excused the man so he could speak with Tobirama alone

💦 He didn't necessarily want his brother to blame anyone but if he felt the need to let it all out, Hashirama reminded him that as the Hokage, he was the one to assign Y/n to this group mission but had no idea it would have turned out like this

💦 Panting heavily, Tobirama moved his fist back in the intent of striking his elder brother but when he went to throw the punch he stopped just shy of Hashirama's face

💦 Y/n wouldn't want him to result in hurting someone like this, especially his own blood. He could almost hear them scolding him for it

💦 So instead, Tobirama gripped onto the fabric of Hashirama's shirt that grew damp as the tears started to flow from his eyes

💦 He hated being vulnerable like this but for once his brother's kind nature was comforting as he hugged Tobirama and promised that Y/n would always be remembered as a hero among all shinobi

💦 Tobirama would always remember Y/n more than just a shinobi. They had been the love of his life. Brave, kind, willing to put up with his attitude..

💦 He wasn't sure what he did to become so lucky to have had someone like them in his life but now he started to wonder what he did wrong to have them taken away from him so cruelly

💦 He'd never forget them though and anyone who spoke ill of his s/o would need to be reminded of just how amazing they truly were

💦 After Hashirama held him back from literally knocking some sense into them of course

💦 He would defend their name until the day he united them in the afterlife

Iron-Blooded Orphans fic section breaks - part 1

A thoroughly boring post topic but does anyone else do character-specific section breaks in their multi-POV stories? Because I’ve gotten a mite obsessive over it for Wishing on Space Hardware. These are the ones I created for the first four-fic arc in the series; not every character who shows up because some of them didn’t get scene breaks, but a good selection of . . . art? It’s sort of art.

With quotes because I might as well turn this into advertising.
