just letting u know the doc that ezra made about that racist killer cop wasn't actually made to sympathise w him as ezra partnered w a blm activist to make it. it was actually to prove that darren wilson is a liar. with that being said tho people hAVE pointed out that the doc was still a bad idea regardless as it was unnecessary exploitation as they're p much capitalising off the deaths of black ppl. just thought i'd clear that up, that it wasn't actually a pro cop doc but still complete trash.
first of all ? thank u for not being rude or aggressive UEIJDNMD . i really appreciate it !
i digged deeper before answering this because i never paid attention to them and the only reason i know abt the assault is because it was trending on twt , and all this is new information to me . i didn’t find anything where they explicitly said they sympathize or that it was made for that purpose , but they did say that the impulse behind the short was to “try and find ‘that mettle’ to seek a way to personify and close the gap between us and darren wilson” , and that … doesn’t sound right to me . maybe it’s not explicit sympathizing , but it sounds an awful lot like that . closing the gap between a man that committed a hate crime and the rest of us ? yeah … it doesn’t rub me the right way . and that statement is quite literally followed by the sentence , quote unquote , “this is an issue beyond race” . i don’t … think i have to explain how and why the history of white male cops killing black people in america is , in fact , an issue about race and a deeply rooted one at that , and why a response like that is ignorant at best .
even if we ignore all that , and acknowledge that the short film wasn’t pro cop although it shed light on something people apparently were already aware of , there’s still the fact that it was an awful idea and does nothing but exploitate and capitalize off the deaths of black people like you and other people have pointed out , which i strongly agree with , i think it’s very distasteful and lacks tact , on top of being . plain messed up .
what i get from this doesn’t really matter that much , but i think if they stuck to making the short film and kept what they thought to be a revolutionary thought to themselves ( or better then : don’t even think that bs ? ) , while it would still be problematic and wrong , it may not have been perceived as badly . but when , on top of making such a tasteless film that was a really bad decision no matter how you look at it , you process what was said about closing a gap and how it’s beyond racism ( link to the article . what was said after just … yeah . ) , and add all the claims , Multiple , of how stuck up , selfish and prepotent ezra seems to be from people who have personally met them , with one of them being this friend of a friend showing them their idea and proposing to work on it together just for ezra to basically say , “no , i’m famous , you’re not , so i’ll take ( read : steal ) the idea and do it myself” , even when i try to take it with a grain of salt … the idea i get is that he’s a piece of shit , and it reeks of ulterior motives and just a person who is way too self - absorbed and a lot more i’m unable to articulate because of lack of words and ngl , brain cells uisekddsj .
this got so damn long , i’m so sorry and i don’t blame you if you don’t read it . i tried being as eloquent and concise as possible but i talk a lot while not knowing how to word shit for dear life , so i’m also sorry if some things don’t make sense or i fail to get my point across the way i intended to . thank you for taking the time to send this in and for reading this far if u do !! i think a decent TL;DR could be : while the doc isn’t pro cops and there isn’t an explicit statement of sympathizing sentiments , the idea alone is awful , but the commentary behind it just makes it worse while giving the feeling there’s some kind of sympathizing albeit unexplicit , and the claims on ezra miller’s personality honest to god do nothing but dig this grave even deeper , even when taken with a grain of salt .
