Mentor & Apprentice with drop of salty ’stand on opposite side’ = my fav dynamic 🎶 (I only live in the Gen world, sorry not sorry XD. Also very well known relationships is boring so I gave slightly more underrated ones :3)

post topic: star wars i realize this topic a bit out of left field and i know this topic is kind of a dead horse but its truly amazing to me how the more one learns about the modern Jedi order from star wars the more one should reasonably hate them. like its hard to point to any one particular thing but they literally are just like a totalitarian theocratic cult with Orwellian elements and a very narrow philosophy about the force that is inherently contradictory and i cannot state this enough, lame.

just to say it somewhere, because I’m seeing people wonder about this in the ahsoka tag: yes, Ahsoka probably did die. I say “probably” because there’s always a margin of stupidity error, but all the signs point to this being the third time and counting.

the fact that Anakin is there — seemingly conscious, speaking to her directly in some kind of physical form, not just an echo of something he’d said or would say being cast through the void — makes things pretty clear. it’s him. and a) he appears in the same way he did to Luke as a force ghost in rotj, fully limbed etc. b) well. by this time, he’s dead.

the other thing that can’t really be interpreted any other way, though, is one of the things Anakin says: “I didn’t expect to see you so soon.”

which reads very much as ‘I didn’t expect you’d be dead this soon’, imo, because this kind of thing gets said a lot when a character goes to an afterlife type of area — it implies inevitability, that you’ll see them eventually no matter what, but really, already? and, of course, it is also the kind of thing that gets said when it is Too Early for a character to die and they are inevitably brought back in some shape or form. and, well, we all know that’s what’s going to happen to Ahsoka.

tl;dr: another Tuesday, another Ahsoka dying (but not for long)

I loved Ezra so much too!!! I’m worried about his future though, SW has a history of killing off or ruining their best characters

I feel this with every fiber of my being. Ezra is really special to me, and literally every other character in Star Wars that is special to me is dead!

I gotta say, I’m not just worried about them killing Ezra though. I’m worried about him being sidelined despite how powerful and competent he was shown to be in Rebels. He had a huge connection to the WBW and the Loth-Wolves, which are both inherently tied to the Mortis gods. I don’t like the idea of him being left out of that storyline going forward.

It was also strange to me that he didn’t know anything about Thrawn’s base, or what the witches were up to. Ezra is known for sneaking around and ruining people’s evil plans, so it felt weird that he hadn’t interacted with them much or gone back there at all to sabotage them. Speaking of which, I thought it would be really cool for Ezra and Thrawn to begrudgingly team up and work together during their time away from the galaxy like everyone wanted, but oh well. 😒

I’m hoping they parallel Thrawn’s devotion to the Ascendancy with Ezra’s devotion to Lothal at some point; I just think that would be neat to explore. I like when heroes and villains have complicated relationships and connections. Despite Thrawn’s hatred of Ezra, I think he would admire Ezra’s commitment to protecting his people since that’s his own main goal in life.

There’s also theories about Maul coming back since he has connections to the Mortis Son, and I hope that’s true because Maul and Ezra have one of my favorite dynamics in all of Star Wars. Like I said, I love when heroes and villains have complicated relationships! Plus I want my dream of Maul being redeemed to happen. That poor guy never had a chance at a real life being raised by Darth Sidious, as Obi Wan pointed out in Clone Wars. I think he genuinely cared about Savage and he genuinely cares about Ezra, even if it manifests in a super toxic and disturbing way as a dark sider. I want him to find true peace and become one with the Force on the light side, but I don’t know if I’m lucky enough to get that!

We’ll see how it all goes, but I am excited to see Ezra meet the other Mandoverse characters (especially Din and Grogu, their interactions will be so interesting to see)! I do wish that he got a purple lightsaber though. I love the emitter as a nod to Kanan, but the standard blue color doesn’t suit the fact that he’s the incarnate of chaos. The blue one he used to have had a fricking gun attached to it for crying out loud! Or it would be hilarious if he just went through all the colors. Every season of every show he’s on his kyber crystal breaks, so every time we see him, he’s got a new color! (I'm only half kidding, that would actually be super funny 🤣 )

I hope we get to see him thrive in his Disney Princess Era™ and tame all the animals going forward! No matter what, Eman is going to kill it. Ezra's by far the best animation to live action character transition we've had!

ok but

this happens at the beginning of the war - back when they could still see an end. obi-wan disappears for two weeks (think rhattark) and when he comes back, there's a scar down one side of his face, and when he opens that eye, it's just white.

anakin can't quite meet his eyes (eye, he reminds himself) anymore. ahsoka is very aware she comes from a lineage most burdened by the war - her great-grandmaster, if one looks at it this way, was the first casualty of the war, all those years ago on Naboo. Her grandmaster and master bear the first noticeable consequences of the war - first anakin becoming a padawan, then his arm, then obi-wan's eyes. her great-great-grandmaster fights on the other side - his padawan, qui-gon's sister from a certain point of view is responsible for mauling obi-wan. one could track the progress of the war by the weight her lineage bears.

obi-wan becomes quieter. he knows why people don't look at him when they talk anymore - he's leading the third systems army, but here he isn't the posterboy for the war. too visible, the senate whispers about his scar. too noticeable. he works and re-works on his katas until he knows he can carry them out the same - late in the night in the temple, on the Negotiator, when nobody disturbs him.

the clones know how close it came to being on of them. how it could've been a commander instead. deep down, they're grateful - they already lost so much to the war, they know, but one less visible reminder to one of theirs is. a relief.

satine tells him only the weak use violence and he stops. turns. 'i was shackled to the wall when she took my eye,' he says, 'pray tell duchess, what should i have done. what do you do when they tear you apart?'

obi-wan makes one speech to the senate about the war. his scar is still red and angry - and he is too, trembling in rage - anakin won't look at him, and everyone treats him like's fragile, and he feels like all of his grief is coming down on him at once - he can't perform his katas the way he used to, and it brings him back to when he switched to soresu, and the grief of qui-gon is like an old scar he's scratched at so many times it has started bleeding.

just. obi-wan. carrying a visible, stark reminder of the war - showing everyone this. this is what happens when you aren't careful, this is what happens when they come for you. and they will come.
