Hello everyone!

It's been some time since my last post, but with Fashion Dreamer coming out soon, I thought it was time to revive this blog. If any of you were around way back when, you might remember Aesthetica, a fan project that was meant to be a spin-off of Nuances, the in-game fashion magazine for the original game and Trendsetters/New Style Boutique. Before the imminent release of Fashion Dreamer, I wanted to make a special homage to the Style Savvy series of games - and that's how this final issue of Aesthetica came to be!

Taking Out the Trash

Julie fucking Henderson never takes her bin bags down to the street. Every week they pile up in the hallways, stinking the place up with microwave dinners and cat shit until someone gets so sick of the smell they just drag the rubbish down themselves. No amount of coercion, cajoling, or pleading works for very long; after only a week or two she’s back at it, dropping the bags just outside her door. Now bright flames and black smoke pour from her windows, and Lieutenant Deppler finds himself unsurprised that the door to his neighbour’s flat is blocked by a flaming pile of trash. Already yellow tongues lick up the walls from the black bags, and their contents smell even worse as they burn.

He had felt a stone drop from his throat to his stomach when the call came into the station. The fire had already spread through half the building and even as he pulled on his suit, he knew it was going to be his half.

Now he stands, visor down and axe in hand, in front of the door 217. Flames coat the wall from floor to ceiling and creep along the carpet and he can feel the heat of it seeping through his jacket. Julie bin-bags Henderson needs his help. Deppler thinks of all the times over the last two and a half years he lost hair and sleep over the menace next door; leaving her cat out on the balcony to yowl for hours; loudly FaceTiming her sister in the middle of the night and practically yelling through their shared wall; the lasagna incident. He feels his blood boiling.

Lieutenant Deppler raises his axe. He swings it at the door.

It sinks into the charred wood, which splinters as he wrenches back. The sudden rush of air feeds the flames and sends them jumping at the newly exposed, unburnt bits. He swings again. Kicking the fiery bags out of his way the lieutenant enters the room and sees her. Julie Henderson lays face down on her burning carpet, unmoving and exactly where he left her. Deppler moves closer but he already knows what he’ll find: bruises around her neck, petechiae of her eyes and face, a fractured skull. Still, he kicks her over, just to make sure. Satisfied, he steps over the body and peers out the glass doors. A set of yellow eyes, overflowing with fear, peer back at him from the balcony. With a smile the lieutenant slides the door open. The cat hisses, back arched, and swipes at Deppler as he grabs the little beast by the scruff of its neck.

Making characters based off of aesthetics c: I don't draw humans very often nor am I confident in drawing them so I figured this would be a good way to get out of my comfort zone!

Anyhow the first aesthetic is 2000s Autumn. It's also called Twilightcore like the movies. I'm a fall critter so I do like most of this aesthetic I'm just not much of a twilight fan lol
